The game's game begins the game zomb, games, games, games, game. I'm Victoria.

I'm Giovanna.

Flu In Hawaii And Bar Fantasy Talk

SPEAKER_04

The game's on. Welcome back to another episode of your favorite football podcast by the girls for everyone, the game. We are very excited to be bringing you an episode going into the final week of regular season today. We are gonna go into a more standardized format for our Tuesday episodes through playoffs. So what you can expect is yapping and recapping, casually talking about the things we like, care about, are upset about, need to know, want to know in the NFL. And then we'll have an ins and outs list. That was a big hit when we debuted that last year. So ins and outs from Giovanna and I. And then we will close it out with things that we have seen on social media that you might want to check out as well. So we're excited to go into the rest of the season and postseason with you. Stats episodes where we're diving more into numbers come out on Thursdays, and then we'll have the occasional interview on Friday. A couple of really good ones in the works. We're very excited to bring those to you. So let's chat about it. Week 17. I actually have a story to tell you, Giovanna. I almost forgot. Let's hear it. Let's hear it. So if you guys didn't know, I'm in Hawaii, and I'm sure you can tell by my voice that I'm unwell. I have the flu, which is horrible. So please excuse my raspiness. I always get a lot of compliments though when I'm raspy. And people are like, is that your normal voice? And I'm like, you just heard me cough for like 20 minutes straight. Like, no, this is not my normal voice. But I do get a lot of compliments. So I don't know. If you like it, keep it to yourself because it means that I'm unwell. Also, if my voice cracks, I apologize. Anyway, let's go. So I have been watching the games on like my phone on YouTube TV, or if there's like a TV where I am, I've like caught a couple of glimpses. But yesterday I was like, I need to catch the end of the Eagles' bills. And I planned on that before I even saw what the score was. I was like, when it hits the fourth quarter, like I'm going to the bar, I'm going to get a love of flow. I'm going to watch the TV and we're going to watch Josh Allen take it home. So anyway, there's a man sitting next to me. And I do love talking to men about the NFL because how are we going to break through the barriers and show men that women actually have brains and know how to speak about football in any capacity if we don't talk to them. So I was like, oh, hey, like, are you watching the game? And he's like, yeah, yeah, I am. And we just started chatting about it. And he was like, so how's your fantasy team? And I was like, well, I'm actually in a lot of fantasy leagues. And this man, mind you, is very drunk. Like, by beginning of conversation, like tipsy end of conversation, like, can't coherently keep a conversation going. And sir, if you're listening to this, like, I did have a great time talking to you, you're cool. But I did just think that this progression was funny. So, anyway, we start talking about fantasy, and he's like, he's like, you know, an episode where you just talk about how to put what player in for fantasy is like really important because I have a lot of money on the line. And he's like, What are you playing for? And like, whatever. And I was like, Oh, I got one money league, and I got this fantasy league for women, and we're gonna give away a prize at the end and whatever. And he continues to tell me that his league is very expensive. Almost in a way that like I've never seen money before. I was like, you know, if you like have money and you want to bet money, he's like, Well, you know, it's like thousands of thousands and thousands of dollars on the line. So now I'm like, I need to ask more questions. So my family fantasy league, if you win, you get 300 bucks. So like very low stakes, the girls' league living in a fantasy, very low stakes, like mostly for fun. But then he, before he tells me how much, he continues to tell me. He's like, you know, but like me and my friends have the money, so like it's okay that we're betting thousands of dollars. I'm like, yeah, well, if you're rich, then why not put your money wherever you want to put your money? Like, I don't, sure, like, who cares? And so then I'm like, what do you win? And they have a fantasy league for$32,000, is what the winner wins.

SPEAKER_00

And I was like, what's the buy-in?

High-Stakes Fantasy And Vibes Strategy

SPEAKER_04

I don't know. I mean, it must be like three to five grand, depending on how many people. That's crazy. Which is crazy. But the way that he was speaking about it to me was like, well, you know, like if you have the resources and you know, I know everybody doesn't have it. I was like, you don't have to be PC to me, sir. You're hammered at the bar, I'm drinking a lava flow, we're talking about Josh Allen. I'm telling you to pick your fantasy players based on vibes because that's really the only way to do it. Because you can like stats the hell out of yourself and then your player goes out second quarter. So whatever. Um, but he kept justifying it to me. But I was like, 32 grand is a big payout. Like, that's a huge payout. That's a thousand times what I would have won if my fantasy team hadn't lost. But I'm wondering now, like, what are people really playing for?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Now I want to know. So if your boyfriend, husband, if you are in a fantasy league, if anyone you know, coworker, your wife, whatever, if they're in a fantasy league and you're playing for thousands and thousands of dollars, like a down payment on a house in Iowa, let me know because I'm so curious now. And I'm like, should I be putting more on my fantasy leagues?

SPEAKER_02

It makes you pay attention for sure. I just lost our championship, Matt. Did we both lose? My team absolutely just didn't want to play. Like, just didn't want to play. I mean, the the it was pretty bad. But yeah, I lost out on the championship, and the winner first place takes home 500. So but I still walked away with some money. I got, I think I get 250 coming in second. So still happy, and it's like the furthest I've made it. And this is in the league where, like, mind you, I'm the only girl. And my team, my team name is losing to a girl. So, like two of two. So we got that. I'm still proud, but it's like a sad way to go out because it was like your team. I feel like fantasy to some degree becomes a game of luck on what players go off and like what players don't versus like how much you're like strategizing and what players to sit and start and all that kind of stuff.

SPEAKER_04

It's like all luck and vibes, and like and vibes, yes. I know I know that some people will like beg to differ really, really strongly, but like you just don't know. And like Jared Goff has been playing very well. He's my quarterback in my paid league, and my man scored two points.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's bad.

SPEAKER_02

It's bad. I picked up Taysom Hill this week because George Kittle didn't play, and then I've been doing a double tight end strategy in my flex because I'm in the three flux league for this week, and so I had Harold Fannon and Taysom Hill in. Harold Fannon obviously scores a touchdown, then leaves the game early, and Taysom Hill finished with a whopping zero points.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. George Kittle went out, and I unfortunately forgot to reset this lineup. So it's so abysmal. Like Jared Goff, 2.08 points, Jameer Gibbs 6.4, Devontae Swift ended up way overscoring, 21.9. T. Higgins, 9.9, Terry McLaurin, 11. George Kittle, 0. Oh my god, hold on. I'm missing, I'm mixing up my Swifties. DeAndre Swift. Yeah, and then Devontae Smith. He's my wide receiver, but he had 4.5. I have both of them on my team. Yeah, so that sucked. But yeah, I'm like, I think that if you play fantasy based on vibes, it's way more fun.

SPEAKER_02

For sure. I actually have to delete my fantasy app because I was so mad on Sunday and like I wanted to enjoy watching football. So I had to, I just believed the app because I was like, this is terrible.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. And if you're in living in a fantasy girls league, I'm gonna be doing like an email announcement of like the top 10 in each league and then the official winner of the league who we're gonna give, we're gonna send something to. We hope that that prize grows over time. So we're really excited about that. But we will be back next year for a second season. We are hoping to partner with an app so that your girl isn't in 108 leagues, but you know what? I would do it again. I would do it again. For the girls. For the girls. And it was so fun. Like, I love, I love the chats. And I gotta say that the top chat of the season was Jimmy Kinno Live, the 49ers girls. They're in there every day. They're in there, they're chatting, they're friends, they're like cheering each other on, they're like teaching the new girls. Like that chat really went off. So if you're in that, that's just so fun. And I'm really glad that you got to participate. And I'm really glad that we had a platform where you could like chat and make friends and stuff like that. So we're really excited about that. Don't delete sleeper yet either, because I might DM you for your like Instagram or something like that. Okay, enough about fantasy. Let's talk about what the heck is going on. We were just talking about Bill's Eagles.

Bills–Eagles Two-Point Debate

SPEAKER_02

Bro, crazy, crazy, crazy. Uh what I don't like about this game, and obviously, you know, it came down to to Josh Allen not being able to convert on that two-point conversion, but uh I do like the consistent reminder if there's 55 minutes to play a football game. I don't know if that's the exact time, but you know, there's a lot of time to play a football game. And Josh Allen, and I say this probably almost every week on the cast, like he is carrying this team. And I know it sucks for him because he knew that was on him and it was a wide open man in the end zone. But I hate the narrative of like people blaming him for this loss and like people just being so harsh. And like you, he knew that was supposed to be him. And like I also think that was 100% the right call call to go for the two-point conversion because yeah, I do, because the Eagles, their offense was missing, they had no offense in the second half, so and clearly they read that they they made the right call. The man was wide open, so I I think it was the right call to actually end the game versus going into overtime. Obviously, there is you know that blocked kick and all the other stuff, but I think it was the right call, and I also don't like the Josh Allen hate.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, the Josh Allen hate is a no. However, I disagree. I think that it was the wrong call because the Bills, the Bills didn't even score until like the fourth quarter. And so if you can't convert anything, you're the fucking Bills and you can't score at all for the first 45 minutes. Why would you expect to be able to do it in that moment? Like I think it was the wrong call because they were not playing well enough. Like if a team is playing well enough and they're getting touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, like in the um the Bears 49ers game, a two-point conversion would have been something to do because they could not stop each other, no matter what, run or passing. That was like one of the most insane games of completion after completion after completion. And in that, it's like if you're completing, completing, completing, it makes sense. But why like the Eagles didn't score at all in the second half? And so why wouldn't you kick the field goal? Yeah, you missed one, but it's so hard to block a field goal. It seems like the odds for blocking a field goal are much lower than the odds of the Eagles being able to take it in that second half all the way to the house and then stop the bills again when the bills were essentially on a run in the second half. So I didn't like the call. In the moment, I was like, okay, like maybe. And then now that I've had time to like think about it, if your receivers can't catch a pass, if you can't connect with them, like why are we doing, why are we trying to do that?

SPEAKER_02

Well, it was clearly it was it was an error on Josh, which kind of negates what I said. I don't I don't like the Josh Allen hate, but it was like he makes that throw accurately 99.9% of the time. That happens to be the point, like one percent of the time that he didn't make it. And then the reason why I do like the call because it it would have worked. It would have worked despite the the missed accuracy of him throwing the ball. The man was wide open in the back of the end zone. It was the right call, clearly read the defense from the Eagles that they were showing right. I actually give a shout out to the Eagles defense because that was probably the only thing the Eagles had going for them in that game is their defense, clearly. But low scoring game, that was a tough launch for the Bills. You know, we'll see them in the playoffs. But the Eagles are the only team Josh Allen has not beaten.

SPEAKER_04

I know.

SPEAKER_02

And that was that was a huge storyline going into this game. And I really thought Josh was gonna do it to him. He finished pretty good when it comes to numbers because you know he's always gonna get those rushing touchdowns from fantasy's perspective and from a stat perspective. But I I know Josh wants that one back so bad.

SPEAKER_04

I know. I just feel like when the gate when like all of that is on the line, why would you why would you create a pressure cooker when you don't need one? The Eagles didn't score the entire third quarter, so why do we think they're gonna score in overtime?

SPEAKER_02

And like that's very it's so if I think I would have felt felt differently if the play was a bust, like if the play just like absolutely didn't go wrong. But since the play like went well, that's valid on both sides, and like that's why it's so hard being a coach. Like, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I agree with you though. I think the play, like the actual play call of like what routes to round and who to throw it to, I like agree that that was a hundred percent. If you were gonna do it, that was the best option, and it just had like an unfortunate ending. But I think that going for the field goal would have ended in a Bills win.

SPEAKER_02

I think the player that actually blocked it had another blocked kick.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, because the Eagles have blocked kicks before.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think this guy is like notorious for so maybe that was reasoning behind why I don't know. We can speculate, but it's it's interesting.

SPEAKER_04

I do kind of like that about the Eagles that like the Eagles have a couple of like niche things that like other teams don't have, like the tush push, which like as controversial as it is, like I think it's kind of like a fun little thing, you know? And yeah, like the tush push and the ability to like block field goals, it's like I like that.

SPEAKER_02

I like it too.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so Josh Allen completed 23 of 35 passes, 65.7 percent for 262 yards. So honestly, that's not I mean, that's like probably nearly average for a good quarterback, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, and then Jalen Hurts uh was 0 for 7 in the second half.

SPEAKER_04

So bad. I do also think still Jalen Hurts for president. I know there's been like controversy, but I love Jalen Hurts, and I think that he would actually, if he wanted to do a political run, I think he would do really well.

SPEAKER_02

Him and Jameis Winston. Did you see Jameis Winston get into a fight?

SPEAKER_04

Well, he went to his he went to defend his friend.

SPEAKER_02

His it was like a yeah, I think it was like a some some coach. Yeah, it was like the officer.

SPEAKER_04

I'm pretty sure.

SPEAKER_02

I was like, okay, Jameis, he loved this energy. I loved it.

SPEAKER_04

Jameis, Jameis can't run for president though, because he has sexual assault allegations from college.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and we need to end that trend of like, even if there's an allegation against you, you can't run. Like, we don't want you. I'm sorry. I don't care if I was in college, I don't care if the case didn't go. If you have allegations for sexual assault, you're not allowed in positions of power. So unfortunately, we can't have Jameis for president, but we can have Jalen because first lady, Mrs. Hertz, IBM executive, hot hot. I'm just saying. I'm just saying, and he's amicable enough that he can please everyone, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he is.

Media Narratives, Hurts, And Accountability

SPEAKER_04

Okay, moving on. Ravens betting on the Browns to win. There was so much social media stuff about this, yeah. It was crazy all over the place. And then who said in the press conference, like, I need to call Shadour? Like, somebody called Lamar. Didn't Lamar call Shadur?

SPEAKER_02

No, it was Tyler Huntley because Lamar didn't play that game. But Tyler, Tyler Huntley was the backup quarterback for the Ravens, which it's just so funny because remember at the beginning of the season, the Ravens wanted to draft Chadur. And it's it's kind of ironic that the Ravens and just Chidur are still kind of like intertwined. But yeah, Tyler Huntley, after his performance and winning, he was like, I need to go call Cheddar and tell him he needs to go win against the Steelers. Obviously, the Browns take the W against the Steelers. And then what's funny is the Ravens posted on Twitter, they were like, oh my gosh, perfect timing. Thanks, shout out to the Browns. And the Browns go and post, and they're like, Don't think we did this for you. Like, this was for us. Like, don't get anything to it. We didn't, we weren't gonna do any favors for y'all. Like, no, that wasn't that wasn't on the on the thing.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I love the Browns, Ravens. And is the Shador's redemption arc? Is the Ravens calling up Shador and like creating this kind of positive thing? Are we leading into his redemption arc? Because I think yes.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I think we've been in his redemption arc since he started. Like since he became the starter for the Browns. I think we've like been not necessarily like redemption's a like a bad word to like coin for his whole season, but I feel like just not clearing his name, but just proving himself and proving like the kind of guy he really is and the character he really is, and like the talent that he really is too. I feel like it all is a reflection of like how he's been acting, what he's been saying, how he's been playing. So really happy for him.

SPEAKER_04

I I don't think he's like proving himself. I think that the media is that like they can't fabricate stories because he's talking more now. Because before he only said a couple of things, there were only a couple storylines that people were just like hammered in, hammered in, hammered in, and now they have to shut up because they were wrong. Because I don't think that Shadur ever did anything very like you guys know, I'm a Shadoer stan, have been from the jump. If you've been listening, I don't think he did anything that wrong, but the media ate him up. And I think that like the easiest way to shut people up is to give them nothing bad to talk about. And Shadoer is doing that, and so I think it's a redemption arc for him in the media because the loudest media people can no longer they have nothing bad to say anymore. Yeah. So it's almost like we're not talking about him anymore, which is like the redemption of his name, not because he had to prove himself, in my opinion, but because nobody could say anything bad.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think in my in my eyes, every rookie quarterback, especially quarterback that comes into league and that steps into starting QB1 role in their first season. Reason has to prove themselves just because it's you know a different game, but not proving themselves in like a bad way, just proving that it's not like they you know actually belong in the NFL. And that's a question that I would ask of Tyler Shook, Cam Ward, like all the other rookie Dylan Gabriel for that matter. Like those are questions I have for every single rookie quarterback. So, but yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Dylan Gabriel is officially becoming relevant.

Browns, Ravens, And Rookie QB Perceptions

SPEAKER_02

It's funny because today I was through TikTok, and there is this girl, and she was like, What happened to Dylan Gabriel's fiance? Like, we haven't heard from her in a minute after like the whole controversy. And so I was curious and I went on her profile, and she's still posting and stuff like you know, normal. But it was just funny because I'm like, when you think about all of like the little things that happened in this season, they're like so many of school in like the grand scheme of things, but it's funny just to remember, like oh that that did happen.

SPEAKER_04

She did say that. I think we're like kind of in the opposite of cancel culture right now, where we're not canceling anybody, but we are shaming them for one thing, so it's like we're not canceling them. Like, and when I say we, it's obviously not us, okay, not me, because you know I'm a very graceful girl, okay? But like the media and sports media like takes one thing and they're like, shame, shame, shame. It's so crazy. And now, and so we're not canceling them, we're just shaming people, and then we forget about it, which I think is a good reminder that like this too shall pass, like with everything. Literally, like whether you're famous or not, like this flu will pass, whatever story you have in your own head will pass. Like a jerk guy will pass.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I think there's another thing I want to say about the the Steelers and Browns game, but I'm actually gonna save it for our in the out list.

SPEAKER_04

We want to thank our sponsors at Cuso Cuts. Cuso's making life easier and tastier every single time we use it. I have the flu right now, and really all I need is something that tastes good, that is like hearty and warm and delicious, but honestly, I do not have the energy. I know I'm not gonna have the energy when I get home to actually be mixing spices. So why don't I just use something easy and delicious and fabulous, which is Kusos seasonings and sauces. If I am feeling better, probably cooking up some buffalo chicken. Probably like using their buffalo sauce in the air fryer to make a great game day meal, throwing things together. We know that playoff games are on different days than regular season games. So we're gonna be needing to be cooking more days than one. So if you want something with bold flavors, really healthy ingredients, no additives, no preservatives, nothing crazy, something you can be confident about eating, head to kusocuts.com slash the game or use code the game at checkout for 10% off. We love Kusos and thank you so much for sponsoring today's episode. So speaking of drama and shame, Max Crosby and the Raiders.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, and I love Max Crosby.

SPEAKER_04

Max Crosby is very intimidating to me. I would be very nervous to meet Max Crosby. You think? But I think he's a really I think he might be a really nice guy underneath like a tough exterior.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, because like I don't know, I've seen videos of him like talking like in like a really informal like podcast kind of setting, and like obviously seeing videos of like him with his family and stuff. And I'm like, you know, you're a stand-up guy. But if you don't know, Max Crosby is a defensive player for the Las Vegas Raiders. He's probably the best defensive player on the Raiders and one of the better defensive players in the league. The Raiders essentially told Crosby, mind you, to give context, the Raiders and the Giants just played. And this was like the first pick game, because the the winner of this game was technically the loser, and the loser of the game was technically the winner because they would get the first pick. And I have thoughts on that that I'll get into a little bit later. But prior to this game, the Raiders basically told Crosby he would not be playing the rest of the season. They shut him down, and then they go place him on IR because he has to get knee surgery. Immediately when Max found out about this news, he was not happy. He leaves the facility. And I'm, I mean, they had a game to play, but he's not playing because they shut him down. I heard Pete Carroll, the head coach of the Razors, like talk about this. And he actually was like, I don't blame him. Like it's something that I would, you know, probably do too. He's a competitive guy and that he wants to be out on that field. So he, you know, was kind of backing up Crosby and his decision a little bit in that sense. But then Max goes and posts a video of him playing basketball. Like, I'm not like, not like we're playing horse, like shoot around. This man's like dribbling and crossing up and like shooting threes, playing basketball and jumping on a trampoline. And now everyone's like, so did you really have to be placed on IR? Like, what's going on? Like they said you need a knee surgery, but clearly your knee looks fine. And like, I don't know if it's one of those injuries where it's like you can still kind of operate because he was still playing to a high level, essentially, you know, on this injury. So I don't know if it's one of those like kind of random injuries where it wasn't too taxing on like his actual ability to move. But people, people are really, I guess not mad at the Raiders, but it's interesting because clearly the Raiders are trying to tank for that first pick, which I mean, I don't blame them because the Raiders need the first pick, then you go get a quarterback. But interesting to see the developments of everything, and then Crosby's reaction and then post to the being told that you're getting shut down.

Max Crosby, IR Controversy, And Raiders Culture

SPEAKER_04

Okay, that's so insane. So his from NFL.com, he'll have a meniscus trim on his knee in the offseason, reported by Ian Rappaport, and that a quick recovery is expected. Yeah, and then his official position is a defensive end, just in case anybody was wondering. So, okay, I know that you can, if you have an ACL tear or a meniscus tear, a lot of people go a lot of time between the actual tear and the surgery and can live like a normal life. Like depending on the severity and depending on the person, pain tolerance, muscle mass, other supporting strengths in the knee, hip and ankle, all of that can kind of influence if you can or cannot continue to be mobile and active with a meniscus or an ACL tear. So, like, that's just from like my life knowledge and being an athlete that like not everybody needs to get ACL surgery right away or meniscus surgery right away. So it's not shocking to me that he could still play basketball, especially so it sounds like it's that his meniscus is a little bit shredded. So if you think like like a cheese grater, like it, you know, when you get a cheese grater and you're doing like a block of cheese and it doesn't come off all the way, but you have the little string of cheese, like before you finish it, that's probably what his meniscus looks like. And so it could be uncomfortable. Like some people, it will like stop their knee from extending all over the way or flexing all of the way. Also, everyone, for reference, I am a personal trainer, so I know a decent amount about the body. So it could be like that situation where it like clicks or like locks up, or it could be very minor. And it's like, we don't want you to go in because we don't want you to further tear it. Because anytime you have any tear, you're at risk of tearing it more. But I mean, the Raiders are not my favorite team. I'm wondering where did this decision come from? Because Pete Carroll's also been under some flack. And I mean, we even talked about Tom Brady being under flack for the Raiders being a mess. So, like, where's the decision coming from? Like, I feel like we don't know enough about what's going on in the Raiders' office. Like, I need an insight. We need someone in there to be like, this guy is passive aggressive and really uncomfortable, and everyone hates working with him, and he ultimately makes the calls because nobody wants to stand up against him because it makes it a whole mess for everyone. Like, is that is that what's going on? Because that's what it sounds like to me.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they had a lot of drama last season too with their head coaching situation, and that was abysmal, which is why Pete Carroll is now there. I can't blame Pete, though. It's his first season. He came into a terrible team. But I just think this team needs some defense and a good quarterback, and the Raiders could look a lot different next season. Not gonna say they're gonna be better or like the best team, but with with the with a better quarterback and you know some straightening up in certain positions, I think the Raiders have a lot to go for. There's you know, questions around the O-line too, because Ashton Genty still had a a decent rookie season and a rookie campaign on this Raiders team as far as stats go, but you know, he was playing behind not the greatest O-line. So I don't know. We'll see. I hope I hope Crosby. I mean, I would love him to to get another team just for the the drama of it and the chaos of it. But I I want him to stay because I do think the Raiders can be on the up and up if they make the right moves, especially with P. Carroll, even though he's he's come out there in age. But you know, that that comes with wisdom.

SPEAKER_04

So yeah, yeah, it's like it's kind of the same thing as like Aaron Glenn. They both went into like really messy franchises, and there's like truly only so much that you can do. And I think that Dan Campbell was so in the spotlight when he joined the Lions, like across the league, similar to how Mike Rip Variable is like so in the spotlight now. But I think that both of those organizations, the Lions and the Patriots, their entire organization was prepared for a good coach to come in and be like the missing puzzle piece. Whereas, like, I don't think that the Raiders organization has legs to stand on. And so I think that like no matter who that coach was, like, even if it was a Ben Johnson, like if you have little to nothing to work with, it's like, first of all, why? If everybody has around the same budget, you're, I mean, like, obviously, it like shakes out over the years of when you draft and what how much you pay and whatever. But like, if everybody's working on the same, you know, in or they're all in the same league, then what's going on in that organization? Who is the issue? Because I mean, Pete Carroll's not like a winningest coach of all time, but Pete Carroll's not a bad coach. But there's also like, if you send one one decent firefighter into a burning building of like 700 units, like the guy can only do so much.

SPEAKER_02

Right. I think the finger could be pointed in a lot of different directions. And a lot of teams going into the this offseason are going to be dealing with the same thing. You mentioned Aaron Glenn and the Jets, they're kind of in the similar bowl. The Tennessee Titans, although they've been playing really decently well, you know, at the end of their stretch of the season, they have a lot of questions they need to address. Obviously, you know, their fix was getting the number one pick, but we see, you know, even with the number one pick, where that kind of gets you. So I don't know. There's gonna be a lot of teams that are gonna be looking not only at roster changes, but at coaching changes and personnel changes. And I think that's gonna be something to watch in the offseason for sure.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I agree. I agree. I'd love to deep dive more into front offices and things like that because it's like any business, like the NFL is a business and every team is its own business. And most success of the business comes from the top down. Like it doesn't matter how many A plus employees you have, A plus players you have, if the top of your organization cannot manage your team well, you're screwed. It's not gonna work. And if the people who work for you don't respect the top, you have nothing because then they're only playing for themselves, which is also messy when you're hired to play for an organization, but you don't respect the organization enough to like it's really just about you, which creates a bad culture. So I think that's super interesting. I guess we'll see what happens there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Max Crosby. I mean, the social media assault is crazy, but I don't think that I don't think that a player like Max Crosby goes to social media, just like I don't think that Aaron Jones goes to social media unless it's their last resort. Like those are not guys who like on a whim are like, I'm gonna post this.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Anyway, speaking of, I have no good transition for this, but the NFC South, Carolina versus Bucks, I'm excited for this game. I mean, I still like the Panthers.

SPEAKER_02

The only so the Carolina versus the Bucks upcoming four could be fourth division, which is crazy because two weeks ago I very much thought that the Panthers were going to lock this up and call it a day and be done. But they haven't. So this could be the battle division, only if the Falcons, by a miracle, go in and win. We're recording this on Monday. So if they go in and win tonight's game, which I mean how is it? Isn't it Falcons Seahawks tonight? No, it's Falcons Rams.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah. If the Falcons beat the Rams, the Rams do not deserve their number one seed.

Coaching, Front Offices, And Organizational Chaos

SPEAKER_02

The Panthers bit it, but if if if the Falcons go in and beat the Rams tonight, Carolina will win the division hands down. However, if they do not, then that game will then be the decider for the division, which is really interesting because, you know, I mean, this division is is I don't know. I I actually texted Victoria during the Panthers game, and I was like, the Panthers are selling me right now because I had Rico Dattle, who I thought was gonna have a really good game, even you know, they were playing in the Seattle to have a really good defense, but Rico Dattle and TT on my fantasy team, and they absolutely they did they just did nothing. Like I think TT finished with like point of points. So I don't know, it's it sucks. There was also a fan, and I remember watching the broadcast, but I guess it like blew up on social media. There's a fan in the stands that had a Bryce Young jersey on, takes it off in the middle of the game, then has another jersey on the underneath, but it was a defensive player. So I guess he like switched from offense to defense because clearly the offense in that game was not doing anything. And again, the the Panthers were playing a deep a really good team with the Seahawks, but the Seahawks they they have they used to have a really good defense, like the good everything. They have a good everything, but it was the what was the final score of that game? It was it was 20, okay, 27 to 10. I don't know. I think the the Panthers walking into this game, I would have thought they would have been playing for a lot more. And I I would have expected it, I'm not gonna say a win for the Panthers, but I would have expected it to be close, and I wouldn't be surprised if they won. And I was hoping that they kind of win too.

SPEAKER_04

Your Rona, do you believe in the Panthers?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, from a fantasy perspective, yes, I needed the Panthers to win. So maybe that was up selfist reasons, but I I did like I I do believe in the Panthers as a team, and I think we've seen I've said this before, we've seen flashes of greatness, but it's the inconsistencies and you know, finishing games. They've had some really great wins and they've had some really bad losses, and I think this was one of those difficult losses for them. They still live for another day.

SPEAKER_04

I feel like the Bucks I'm over them.

SPEAKER_02

The fact that they lost to Quinn Ewers and the Miami Dolphins is tight is crazy.

SPEAKER_04

Like, I don't think that they like playing wise deserve it. Like the Panthers are on the come up and the Bucks were already on and up. So, and if you can't play when you're stressed out, then you don't deserve to win the Super Bowl.

SPEAKER_02

So I mean the Panthers look stressed out and that and that game with the Seahawks, and and they've only been their own.

SPEAKER_04

Do you want to play against that team?

SPEAKER_02

No, but like if we're gonna if we're gonna talk about the Panthers being, you know, opponent, then they gotta they gotta show up. They gotta show up and they gotta show out. So that was that was tough. But the only reason I do like them losing is because now it creates the NFC South's drama.

SPEAKER_04

We love the drama.

SPEAKER_02

We love the drama. We do.

SPEAKER_04

Should we move on to our ins and outs list? Yeah, okay. My first in is real grass on white uniforms.

unknown

Jesus.

SPEAKER_01

Hot like the grassy.

SPEAKER_04

So much sexier than your man coming back smelling like dirt and sweat, than like just sweat. Don't you think?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, like if I were to smelled that, I don't think I can imagine that. But like, yeah, interesting. I can see I can see I can see where you're coming from. I do, I I do uh see where you're coming from though, also on the fact that like the grass stains and like just seeing if you walk away and that white jersey is just like filled with green spots and brown, like you know you really did it. It's like Derrick Henry. Like you you you played your you played your heart out today.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I'm like, get dirty, let's fucking go. If you're dirty, it means you did something right. Boom, that's it. Oh my gosh, Victoria.

SPEAKER_02

I just read your out.

NFC South Stakes And Panthers–Bucs

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. The Detroit Lions, they don't deserve to be in the playoffs. I'm sorry. I love them, they are my team. Choke City. No one likes a trip to Choke City. No one. And I love Jared Goff, but Jared Goff is also won with a five interception, five turnover game, and this was abysmal. Also, let me tell you the pain these men inflicted on me over the weekend, okay? So Christmas Day, I'm on a flight to Hawaii. Life is good. First of all, effing on Netflix. Netflix streaming is on my outs too. Because I'm on a plane and I can't go on the stupid TV and get my freaking game. I have to go on my phone and the freaking internet doesn't work. And so I'm this is so ghetto. Okay. So I am on the flight, my Netflix is not working, and there's a man two rows ahead of me watching the game before the Lions game. And so I can't see it because he's three rows ahead. So I have my phone up on the camera app. I'm zooming in to this man's screen to watch the game from my phone on this man's screen. It was so crazy. Yeah, I took a picture of it for you. Okay, here. I'm videoing it on my phone. And every time this guy moves, every time this guy moves, I like can't see. Yes, he's like moving his hand in there. Yeah. So I watched the Washington Dallas game. It's so ridiculous. So anyway, I'm like, I'm like, let's go. Lions game, but that's how I gotta do it. That's how I gotta do it. No, Netflix. Stop streaming. I go to the flight attendants. I'm like, listen, I'm not usually one to ask because I really am not. Like, I'm pretty amicable. I'm pretty like, I don't like to make a stink if I don't need to. And I don't want to make anybody's job harder than it needs to be. Like, I can read a book, okay? But it's Christmas day and the lions are playing and the internet's not working. And I'm trying to be pleasant about it. And I'm about to lose my mind. So I go to the flight attendance and I'm like, hey guys, like I'm struggling to get the internet on my phone. Like I paid for it and whatever. But can like, has anybody else said anything about it? Or like, and if so, is there like a reset or something? Because on other flights, people have been like, we'll just reset the internet. And I'm like, reset the having internet. And they're like, just keep refreshing, it'll be fine. So then I spend the next hour refreshing my phone. No dice. The man in front of me just quits. Final two minutes of the Cowboys game. Gone. Everything's gone. Can't see a thing. Internet's out. I'm going insane. I've refreshed the page 30,000 times, even just to get the play by play on the internet. Okay. So then I'm texting my friend and I'm like, yo, this is super annoying. But are you watching the Lions game? They're like, yeah, I'm like, okay, cool. Actually, I think they just told me. Anyway, I'm like, this is really annoying, but like, could you give me some updates? So then I'm getting text message updates of the Lions game, which is so depressing.

SPEAKER_02

I'm glad I didn't text you.

SPEAKER_04

Imagine your friend who doesn't care that much about football, but they're watching it on game day, texting you, saying, I'm really sorry. Interception. I'm really sorry. Jared Goff fumble. I'm really sorry. Fourth and six. This says, let me read you some. I gotta read some of these. This is so insane.

SPEAKER_02

It's not I'm really sorry before every single message for me.

SPEAKER_04

He says, my man JG doesn't seem to be throwing good today. More success running. More Viking defense, Vikings defense is having a great day. Fourth and goal. Now they're going for it. He says, Tesla's catch right now, touchdown. Obviously freaking out. And he says, over two mountains of men. Land a straight on his back. One point conversion. Okay. And then and then this is where it gets crazy. Seven and seven. And then we get fourth and three. Vikings drive. They're punting. Vikings intercepted with the little face with the eyes that are like that. Isaac, what are the odds you can Google Jared Goff's fantasy points? 4.5. It got worse. He ended with like two.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because he had so many turnovers.

SPEAKER_04

Another interception for the Vikings. Wow. This drive is third and six already. Fourth and six. Vikings scored. And I'm on a five-hour flight. JG fumble.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that game was bad. I don't think anyone could have predicted that against the Vikings. That was bad.

SPEAKER_04

It was bad. So the Lions are on the out because the Lions have everything that they need to be successful and they couldn't make it happen. And if you can't make it happen, you don't deserve to be in the playoffs. And I love the Lions and I want them to be there. But you have to be a team who deserves to be there. And if you can't connect, if you have Jameer Gibbs and you can't score, if you have Amindra St. Brown, Isaac Tesla, Jameson Williams, and you can't score, that's on you. And that's a bummer. And the Vikings are not good enough. Like the Vikings played a great game. I mean, I didn't watch it. I honestly haven't been able to bring myself to watch the highlights.

SPEAKER_01

You don't want to.

SPEAKER_04

This was supposed to be quick. And I'm just in my field now. The Lions lost, and I got the flu, so like what did I do to the universe?

SPEAKER_02

What did I do to the universe?

SPEAKER_04

Like, who did I hurt? Who did I hurt?

SPEAKER_02

It was a rough day. It was a rough day. Yeah, it was bad. Hey, this the Snoop, the Snoop Dogg halftime, though.

SPEAKER_04

Was that in that game? Yeah, it wasn't that game. Yeah, it wasn't that game. And you knew who didn't watch it? Me, because I can't bring myself to watch anything about that game.

SPEAKER_01

That's pretty good.

SPEAKER_04

The fact that Snoop Dogg even has his own bowl. Like, didn't Snoop Dogg also do a college bowl? No, he like sponsored it.

SPEAKER_02

It's like the Snoop Dogg bowl. Somebody was telling me that, like, his some like his son or something played.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. But I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

Also, the revival of Snoop Dogg is so crazy to me. Like revival, he hasn't left. Like, I feel like he's he did he did kind of leave a little.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

A little. But then as of the 20, what, 2024 Olympics? Don't you remember? He was at like every event. He was at gymnastics, he's doing interviews, he's doing social media, he's like back on commercials. Now he has the Snoop Dogg Bull in the NFL. Like, what is his PR team smoking? Because like he's everywhere.

SPEAKER_02

No, he's like, and he doesn't age. I feel like. No, he does not age. He does not. He's like, I mean, maybe it's whatever.

SPEAKER_01

He's smoking.

SPEAKER_04

Honestly, I love it. Keep it coming. Um okay, let's get back to our ins and outs.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Okay, I'll choose an in. I'll go, I'll go with Philip Rivers on our end. Because I do like this. Philip Rivers being honest. I thought it was a good end for me.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You just can't. I it's also funny because he just doesn't cuss. So every single time, like he's he's like, let's stink and go. Yeah, stinking. Yeah. So that's that's that's funny to me. He's just a wholesome guy.

SPEAKER_04

I know, but it's funny because he's also known as like one of the biggest trash talkers. He just doesn't cuss.

SPEAKER_02

I know.

unknown

It's like, what the heck?

SPEAKER_02

On my out, I'm gonna get a little rogue here. On my outs, I have Miles Garrett not getting his sack against the Steelers. Yeah. Um pissed. He actually said post-game, he was like, I think the Steelers were more worried about me sacking Aaron Rodgers and not getting my hitting my record than like winning the game. Which is crazy because the Steelers very well could have won that game. So Derek were two interceptions. So which the first one wasn't really his fault. But that was that that's all my outs. Miles Gary not getting a sack record. Hope hopefully he can get it in this last game.

Ins And Outs: Grass Stains, Lions, And Chiefs Talk

SPEAKER_04

I think he definitely can. I do think that that's like a funny piece of salt. Like, I'm like, was it was it you, or is it that they're they feel like they need to protect Aaron because maybe he's like in kind of injured? Like, I I doubt that it was personal, but if it was drama, anyway, I want him to smash the record.

SPEAKER_02

But also in my end, Sonny Lee and Simone Biles on the sidelines taking pictures. Love it because we almost you you always mentioned like how like we don't like talk about enough, like Simone, like don't talk about in the NFL. And then she runs and like she was at her little bears for you guys game taking pictures of her man, but also I'm like the media credential and the whole camera. Like they were they were they were taking some flipps, love it on the ends.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah, I'm I'm so into that. I I'll bring up Simone any chance I get. Simone, if you're listening, please come on our show. I would love to have you and I'd love to interview you about you can talk about whatever you want. You want to tell childhood stories? Let's go. You want to talk about gymnastics? Let's go. You want to talk about your husband? Let's go. You tell me. You want to talk about how you how you did with that camera? I'm here. I'm ready. Yeah, so cute. There's actually like a lot of NFL retired players who are now camera people. And I love that because it keeps you in the game and in the world of the NFL without actually like fully being done done. So I love that. Okay. On my oh, that was an in. So let's do on the outs, our fantasy teams.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, facts.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, belt cards. I don't want to talk about it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, period.

SPEAKER_04

On my ins predictions on vibes.

SPEAKER_02

Of course.

SPEAKER_04

It just is because it's real. I also have on my ins list Shador. And as we we already talked about him a little bit, but I do think that he's getting the like media revival, even though I don't think he needed to change anything. Like, I don't think that he deserved anything he got. But I just love that we're not talking about him in a negative way right now. And so he's on my ins list. Also, he did win. And I think the diet the dialogue between him and the ravens is hilarious.

SPEAKER_01

With with like when without his team, too. Like he barely had a team. So that's something to note too.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I'm into it. On my outs, okay. This is a Chiefs out. It's kind of when I'm gonna put two together. Rumors about Travis retiring. I don't care. Is he gonna retire? Is he not gonna retire? No one knows. But why are we getting upset about it in advance? Well, there's nothing else to talk about about the Chiefs right now, so I guess the only storyline people can hold on to. But Andy Reid also went out and said, if the Chiefs will have me back, I'll come back. And I'm like, you know you're coming back. Like you think you're getting fired? Like, that's so annoying to me that he's like, because Travis says it too, like, if they'll have me back, I'll come. Like at some point, like I get that it's good to be humble. I get it. And I agree. And I think that being overconfident in this league is tacky. But to like think that they wouldn't have either of you back if you wanted to come back is like this isn't a breakup with a high school girlfriend.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Like somebody.

SPEAKER_04

I I just like I don't know. I just don't like them saying that. Sure, it's like humble and kind, but you didn't you didn't need to. I just didn't like it. So my outs. On the ins. Tell me if you do you agree with this one, the Ravens and Lamar. And Derek Henry. A hesitant, yes. I don't know. I like the Ravens. I just like them. I like Derek. I like Derek Henry. I want Derrick Henry to win.

SPEAKER_01

Like Derrick Henry is the king.

SPEAKER_04

He is the king. He is. Yeah. And he had what four touchdowns yesterday?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it was insane. We'll break down his performance in our stats episode this week, but absolutely insane. And this is what I called for because last week I said, why are you not putting him in the game? Why are you not putting him in the game? And look what he did. Literally, four. And like honestly, the the last two he really didn't have to get, but he still did.

SPEAKER_04

So you think that last week he got into a fight with like one of the coaches and was like, Fine, don't put me in and see what happens.

SPEAKER_02

I don't, honestly. I think if it was any other player, yes. But because it's Derek Henry, like literally every single I see him after his touchdown, like he'll celebrate and like be with the C for a little bit, and then we'll just go and sit. He's like, like he doesn't look happy, but he doesn't look sad. He's just going to work. Yeah, he literally just putting a head down and going to work. And that's what I love about him.

SPEAKER_04

And we love men who do their jobs. Okay, let's do speed round for the rest of the ins and outs, and then we'll talk about things that we found on social or stories that we're loving. On my ins, I have Bill's red uniforms. I know they lost to them, but sexy love, hot everything.

SPEAKER_01

Bring them back. All red, yeah. Something about it.

SPEAKER_04

In Patriots Dynasty.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

They're in. And like honestly, can we hate people? Can we hate them for it? I live in San Diego. I live in like the best place in the US. And it's like I choose to live there because I like it and it's fun. And so, like, heaven forbid somebody figures it out. Heaven forbid somebody figures it out. If someone can do it, anyone can do it.

SPEAKER_02

I have thoughts about the Patriots. And again, I will break this down on our styles episode this week. But yes, they're the dynasty is on the ends for sure.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, okay. The Saints. Six and ten. Yep. Saints. And they just posted John Ridgway on their social media with a smile like this. Yeah, we interviewed Ali Ridgway. She's become like, she's just so great. She's a friend of show. We we really love her. She's awesome. So if you haven't listened to that episode, definitely go listen to it. His contract, I believe, is ending this year. So we're sending all the good vibes for him to stay playing if that's what he wants. And then go either stay on the Saints. They really like the Saints or go wherever they want to go. I don't have any insider information on what they want or anything like that. But their family is just really super sweet. So we just want the best for him and seeing him on social made me happy. Okay, last outs. I have the Colts, but only the men because the women will never be out. Dicker the kicker, yikes. Yeah, it was bad. Bummer, but just bummer week. Like he's not on the outs, but his performance was.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. First in his career, too. Crazy.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. And then the books are out.

SPEAKER_01

Of course. They've been out.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, closing it out. Things that we've seen on social that we are loving. Oh my gosh. They're on social. They posted inside the film vault. The NFL film vault is a real thing. It's like a library of all of the films since like 1929.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's crazy.

SPEAKER_04

I think I DM'd them being like, can I interview you? But it's really crazy. Okay, then we have, yeah, the people who are in the NFL and now photographers, SUNY Lee, Simone Biles, Malcolm Jenkins was on the Eagles, now a photographer. We have Marshawn Lynch, Seahawks player for a long time, on the sidelines. SUNY Lee, and then Simone now. So that's cool. And then there's a couple baseball players in that post. I also saw one that's uh okay. NFL. You guys know I hate to talk about age in the NFL because I think it's just like a house of cards and like a random stat that men use to seem educated, but it really doesn't actually do anything. NFL receiving leaders after turning 40. And I actually love this list, so maybe I care more about the age. Brett Favre, negative two yards. 66 players above the age of 40 tied at zero yards. Mercedes Lewis looks like he's on the Packers, two yards. Tom Brady, six yards after turning 40. Jerry Rice, 2,509 yards.

SPEAKER_00

Let's go. The guy.

SPEAKER_04

The guy. That was so funny. So yeah, that's that's what I have on there. And then the Bears like breaking their decibel record. We really didn't talk about the Bears game, 49ers, but God, that was one of the best games I've seen ever.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I actually didn't watch that game in too much detail because the Sunday was again fantasy. I couldn't watch football anymore. But that one was a really good game. The only other things I saw on social, and I know Christmas is over now, but there's two Christmas E type things that I really loved with the first one. I also I just love this fact, this it's kind of an end. I love the gifts that the quarterbacks give to their O-line. It's like a thing, it's a thing every year. And the quarterbacks get increasingly like unique with what they give their O-line. Like it's not just like a bag or like a nice watch or dinner anymore. It's like they put some thought into it. So here are like some methods. Joe Burrow gave his O-line authentic fossils. Mind you, Joe Burrow's like kind of a nerd, and it's like he has like this weird thing with fossils. It was like a first come, first serve type thing. And like he had it at his house. And so like the O-line came to his house and they got the shoes. But it was like dinosaurs, it was like T-Rex, bears, and like mammoths. That was really cool. Jumped out and gave his O-line premium beef. It was a quarter of a cow. And I saw one of his O-line with his like either wife or girlfriend unpacking this like package. And she was like, this is good beef. It was like a skirt steak, chuck roast, wanago, all this kind of stuff. So that was really interesting. And then I think you put this on here, the Jared Goff, the golf carts and everything, which is one of the golf carts. Yeah. And they were like they're not just like an average golf cart. Like I still like saying there were golf carts, it's like not doing it justice. But they were like sick.

SPEAKER_04

It's like a mix between a four-wheeler and a golf cart or like a like a dune bug. Yes, yes. Like they had like the performance tires and stuff. And then they they had a video of them like all running around the practice facility.

Social Finds: Film Vault, Sideline Stars, Gifts

SPEAKER_02

So going crazy. And then speaking of Christmas, Camp Scadaboo had a Christmas list that he posted, and a lot of other people were saying that it was giving CT energy, mainly because it was on like a really like random scratchy piece of paper, and his handwriting was really bad. He had bubble wrap on there twice, and there's other things like cheese whiz and stuff on there that I thought was interesting. But the most interesting thing that on this list that I found was at the very bottom. He said, Brian Dayball rehired. That was on Cam Scadaboo's Christmas list. Isn't that that's crazy to me?

SPEAKER_04

The fact that a rookie says that, yeah, but he must have gotten treated really well after he got injured. I think he got treated well in the beginning. I thought he got treated well after he was injured. And if you think about it, while Cam was actively playing before he got injured, everyone was like, are the Giants gonna go to the playoffs? When Jackson, Cam were both healthy. Jackson and Cam were both healthy with Brian as their coach, they were lights out. So if you had that.

SPEAKER_02

And you go back and see how many games that was. But yeah, that's that's it's crazy. And also like now to see like what they're in, which again, we can't I can't judge anything about the Giants right now because everyone's injured and hurt and it's abysmal. But we'll see next season. I think if they're gonna I think firing Brian Nabel was mostly the wrong decision, but I think it was a little too preemptive, like it felt too soon.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. Especially with how many injuries they had, it just feels like rats.

SPEAKER_00

I love that so much. It's so funny.
