Pick Six: Taylor & Travis Tie the Knot, Jonathan Cooper's Case Escalates, and Baker Mayfield Draws a Line in the Sand

Victoria is broadcasting from Miami for the first time — new apartment, new city, same Pick Six energy. This week: the wedding of the decade, an engagement that's been a long time coming, a beef that's either staged or very real, an assault case working through Douglas County Court, Tyreek Hill's murky 2026 outlook, and three contract situations worth watching before training camp opens.

Listen for the full breakdown. Show notes and timestamps below.

In this episode

(00:00) Miami, at last. A year of recording from hotel rooms, Buffalo, Hawaii, and her mom's house ends with Victoria finally on the ground in her own Miami apartment — plus training camp tickets for both coasts.

(02:47) Story 1: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got married. The July 3rd Madison Square Garden wedding, officiated by Adam Sandler — a Happy Gilmore 2 friendship come full circle. Taylor in Christian Dior haute couture (reportedly Dior's first-ever bridal haute couture). No bridesmaids or groomsmen; Austin Swift and Jason Kelce stood as man of honor and best man. Over 1,000 guests, zero phones, and a guest list that doubled as an NFL WAG roll call: Brittany Mahomes, Kelly Stafford, Camille Kostek, Anna Zemmer, Claire Kittle, Sierra, Maddie Major, Emily Mayfield, and Samantha McAfee. Simone Biles claps back at the internet for doubting she and Taylor even know each other. And the NFL's conspicuous silence on the wedding — will Vogue get there first?

(11:43) Story 2: Brooklyn Adams and Amon-Ra St. Brown are engaged. The Game's second-ever guest and the woman running the St. Brown Foundation is officially becoming a St. Brown. A win for the Lions' notoriously tight-knit WAG circle.

(11:43) Story 3: Jaden Daniels vs. Brandon Ayuk. A World Cup heckle, a "mama's boy" callout tied to Daniels' mom-slash-agent Regina, a mutual unfollow, and an "I'll run it 5-on-5" Instagram taunt. Insiders are split on whether it's a real rift or a trolling bit — bad optics either way for an unsigned free agent.

(15:36) Story 4: Broncos linebacker Jonathan Cooper faces a felony assault charge. Two arrests in one week, conflicting accounts of a domestic violence incident, a forensic exam documenting a choking injury, and a consolidated felony case. Cooper was released on personal recognizance bond July 3rd with a strict no-contact order; a disposition hearing is set for July 24th. The Broncos have excused him from mandatory minicamp but haven't taken a public stance. Victoria's take: the league's fines don't match the severity, and it's time for real accountability.

(18:57) Story 5: Tyreek Hill's 2026 is a question mark. Still rehabbing multiple torn knee ligaments and a dislocated knee, still unsigned, and without a team to manage the injury narrative for him. A 2026 season on the field is looking less likely by the week.

(22:46) Contract watch: Pickens, Lamar, Mayfield, and Hopkins. George Pickens signs his $27.3M franchise tag and reports to minicamp — holdout over. Lamar Jackson's restructured deal pushes $84.49M to 2027, and owner Steve Bisciotti wants an extension done before free agency, but nothing's signed. Baker Mayfield is pushing for $50M/year and has drawn his own line: a deal by July 30th or negotiations wait until after the season — no holdout regardless. And DeAndre Hopkins is taking his time, naming Joe Burrow as a dream QB and drawing rumored interest from the Bengals, Vikings, Chiefs, and Commanders.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, it's Victoria. Welcome back to the game and another installment of Pick Six, where I talk you through the top six most interesting, best, or most gossip-worthy stories in the NFL every Wednesday. Before we get into all that, I'm so excited to report that I am recording from my new apartment in Miami. Over the last year of having the game, the podcast, I have recorded in so many random places. I have recorded in Europe when I went to a Europe trip to watch the international NFL game. I have been at my mom's house where I started the podcast. I've been in Texas traveling with my sister. I've recorded in Buffalo when I was in Buffalo for a game. It's been wild. I even recorded on my family vacation in Hawaii over Christmas break. So it feels so surreal just to be boots on the ground in my own apartment in a city that I recently moved to. So I'm here with a new and happy and excited energy, even if the apartment said that it was supposed to be cleaned professionally, and it definitely wasn't. So I have been playing the sweet game of professionally clean your own apartment because sometimes, if you want it done the way you want it done, you have to do it yourself. I digress. Welcome back to another episode. Today, obviously, we are going to be talking about the TNT wedding. We have a couple of updates on previous court cases that have gone down this season and some others per usual. If you haven't done so already, I would love if you could share this with a friend who may find it interesting. We have some fun stuff planned this season. So would love to get all of the girls in one place and excited for NFL season. A lot of training camp tickets have gone on sale. Most of them are free. Some of them are like $10 to $20. I have gotten two separate tickets for two different training camps, one on the West Coast and one on the East Coast. I'm so excited to go and just experience it. I've never been to training camp before, so I'll be updating you on the training camp experience as it happens. All right, let's get into the pick six, the best six stories of the NFL this week. Starting out, the one that I truly cannot, that genuinely no one can ignore and wouldn't have been able to ignore since the day that we heard the rumor of Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift. They got married, as everyone knows, July 3rd at Madison Square Garden. I do want to say, I'm not taking any hate for the Taylor and Travis wedding. I'm not gonna hear, I don't want to hear anything negative about it. Two people got married and it was star-studded, especially with NFL players, media personnel, et cetera. And just remember, regardless of how famous Taylor is, she still got married. And let's be nice because a wedding is a beautiful thing. So let's keep it classy over here. Okay. Okay, let's move on. So they officially the wedding was officiated by Adam Sandler. And actually, one of my sister's friends posted on Instagram like, did Travis have anything to do with this wedding? And honestly, there is no way that Adam would have officiated the wedding if Travis wasn't there. Like, I just I don't know who else would have done it, but Adam Sandler was a big surprise to me. Travis and Adam did Happy Gilmore 2 a few years back. And I assume that from there they've just kind of become friends and enjoyed their time together. And even Adam may have become somewhat of a mentor to Travis. So that was a super surprise to me, but I love it. And I think that it's super funny. Taylor Swift wore Christian Dior Hawk couture, which I believe I have sources that have told me that this is the very first time that Christian Dior has done hawk couture for a wedding. Classic Taylor being able to make anything and everything happened here on her wedding day. They didn't have any bridesmaids or groomsmen, but Austin Swift, Taylor's brother, and Jason Kelsey were the maid of honor, man of honor, and best man. They had over a thousand guests, including Hugh Grant, Cooper Cup, Paulina Gratzky, Joe Buck, and they had no phones. So I think all of the Instagram carousels we've been seeing have been from before the wedding. I think one thing that's really funny is that Simone Biles posted her and her husband Jonathan Owens on Instagram before the wedding. And then Simone, she gets a little feisty online sometimes, which I think is funny. She posted on Twitter or X or Threads, wherever it was, saying, Remember, I only tell you guys what I want to tell you, because people have been saying, do Taylor and Simone even know each other? And it'd be honestly shocking if they didn't, especially Simone being the most famous gymnast of all time, Taylor Swift being the most famous musician, pop star of all time. Like, of course they've crossed paths. So I think it seems normal, but apparently the internet was confused. And I just thought it was funny that Simone kind of clapped back. So let's go over who are the players that were there, who are the media personnel that were there, and who should you be stalking on Instagram right now? So we'll start Patrick Mahomes, quarterback of the Chiefs. So Travis Kelsey's quarterback with his wife Brittany Mahomes, Matt Stafford and his wife, Kelly Stafford, Creed Humphrey. Uh Matt Stafford is the Rams quarterback. Creed Humphrey is the Kansas City Chiefs center that plays with Travis and Patrick. And he went with his fiancee, Anna Zemmer. Then we have George Kittle, who was recently with Travis and the founder with Travis of Tight end University with his wife, Claire Kittle, Baker Mayfield and Emily Mayfield, uh Tampa Bay Bucks quarterback. And then we have some retired players. So Jason Kelsey, former Eagle Center, Rob Gronkowski, former tight end on the Patriots with his partner, Camille Kostic, Julianne Edelman, former wide receiver on the Patriots, Russell Wilson, quarterback most recently from the Giants with Sierra. Yes, the singer, famous pop star, Sierra. Bo Allen, former defensive tackle on the Eagles, so a teammate of Jason Kelsey. Then we had Pat McAfee and his wife, Samantha McAfee. He was a former punter, but now has a Pat McAfee show. I'm sure you guys have all seen it. And then from the media, which Pat McAfee is in, but Aaron Andrews and Carissa Thompson were seen together in a carousel at the wedding as well. They actually posted their photo with Kelly Stafford, which I thought was very interesting. I'm not sure if it's the LA of it all or what, but Kelly Stafford has had, I would say not the most seamless time as an NFL wife. She was definitely, she's definitely taken some heat in the media over the years, which just makes it surprising that those are the girls that she hangs out with. But if you look at them all, they all like seem to kind of fit the same vibe. So I thought that was kind of funny and interesting. I did like how the wedding, especially when people posted group photos, kind of told us who is friends with who. Because obviously you don't want to show up to Taylor's wedding like just with your husband. You want to go with your friends too. And they're all definitely running outfits by each other. So who's wearing what? What are you wearing? How big is it? How grand is it? Like, there's no way that those group chats weren't going around. If I was going to this wedding, my group chat would be popping off. So speaking of wives, fiance, partners, wags at the wedding, um, as I mentioned, Brittany Mahomes, Kelly Stafford, Camille Kostick, Anna Zemmer, Claire Kittle, Sierra, Maddie Major, who is Bo Allen's partner, Emily Mayfield, Bigger's wife, and then Samantha McA uh McAfee, Pat McAfee's wife. So congrats to Travis and Taylor. Genuinely, I don't want to speculate because how can you? Um, but also how can you not? I assume the wedding looks something like their engagement. I want to see photos. I hope that they show us a ton. I hope that there's some huge, hopefully it's in like I can imagine it being in Vogue. I would love to see Vogue. One super interesting thing that is noted on here is that the NFL has not posted anything about the wedding, which I think was interesting because the NFL usually posts engagements, etc. So that is interesting. So I'm curious to see when they can post something. Is the NFL is it gonna be NFL Times Vogue, NFL Times People? Is it gonna be some type of co-article announcing the wedding or something like that? Did the NFL, in a business sense, get in on the Taylor and Travis wedding? I guess we will have to see. Speaking of weddings, our second story Brooklyn Adams and Amon Ra St. Brown are engaged. Amon Ra St. Brown, wide receiver one on the Detroit Lions. Brooklyn Adams was, I believe, our second interview ever on the game podcast. So you can go back and listen to that if you haven't done so already. She actually mentioned on that show, you know, that timeline is your own and you don't have to rush into things just because other people are doing things. And yeah, she runs the St. Brown Foundation, which is Amnar St. Brown and Equinymia St. Brown, his brother, who also plays in the NFL, it's their foundation that I believe a lot of their family also works in. And then Brooklyn pretty much runs the show at this point. So I just think it's really sweet that she is officially becoming a St. Brown. We will see what she does with her last name, but she's very beloved in the NFL community. So congratulations to Brooklyn and Amon Raw. I know that the girls at the Lions, based on the ones that I've talked to, we've also interviewed Isabel Sewell, um, Penny Sewell's wife. We know that the girls at the Lions are just really close, really supportive of each other, really excited for each other. It genuinely talking on the podcast, but also in the conversations before and after the show, seems like these women genuinely like love and care for one another when somebody new comes in. They kind of have open arms towards them. So I love that this is becoming officially official for Amon Ross St. Brown and Brooklyn Adams. Story number three: some boy drama. So leaving the romantic, feminine, lovely wedding engagement stories. Story number three, Jaden Daniels versus Brandon Ayuk on social media. So Jaden Daniels is the quarterback on the Commanders. Brandon Ayuk is a wide receiver for the 49ers. So a fan heckled Jaden Daniels about Brandon Ayuk at the World Cup on the 4th of July. Daniels pretty much laughed. He he just kind of let it go. Then Ayuke posted an Instagram video calling Daniels a mama's boy because Jaden Daniels' mother, Regina, is his agent and travels with him regularly. So they're kind of all always together. And then the two unfollowed each other on Instagram. But this is super wild because Brandon Ayuk has been out there saying, Oh, sign on the commanders tomorrow, I'll sign on the commanders tomorrow, and waiting for the 49ers to officially release him. Because the 49ers have been holding out on his release, and Brandon Ayuk is just going off on social media. He also has the arrest warrant in Santa Clara because of his speeding incident that he posted on YouTube, and then he's being crazy on social media saying, I'm going to the commanders, etc. After they unfollow each other on Instagram, Ayuk posts a story tagging Daniels, saying, Let's run it five. Let's see. Need you available all season and all do the same. So some insiders in the NFL have said that maybe the exchange is staged or trolling. Maybe it's a real rift. If it is a real rift, that's horrible for Brandon Ayuk because he was actually released and is now a free agent, but has not been signed to a new team. What is up with that? Where is that going to go next? I genuinely have no idea. I said it last week. I'll say it again. I don't care about Brandon Ayuk. I'm so over this. Also, don't come for Jaden Daniels. Jaden Daniels is one of the cutiest cutie boys in the league. I love him. I think he had a really bad season last year, but I think he's so capable and sweet. Him and Justin Fields actually are in the same category to me of like sweet guys who really just need a little bit of stability to create their success. What do you guys think about Jaden Daniels? Are you guys on the Jaden Daniels train or are you like not care? Let me know. DM me. All right, moving on. Story number four. So a few weeks ago, we had all of these arrests and affairs. We had the Rashi Rice arrest. We have the Brandon Ayuk story and Warren. We have the cheating of Rabel. All of these things are coming up. And Broncos linebacker, Jonathan Cooper, also has a legal case, is arrested two times in one week. Now this case is escalating, so let's talk about it. Jonathan Cooper, offensive linebacker for the Broncos, is 28 years old. His girlfriend or ex-girlfriend was in a four-year relationship with Cooper and is the woman involved in all of these cases, however, has not been named. On June 3rd, 2026, at Cooper's home in Parker, Colorado, there was a dispute that started over cell phones after she accused him of infidelity cheating. They are both arrested on June 4th and booked overnight. Cooper on suspicion of criminal mischief with a domestic violence enhancer, her on suspicion of misdemeanor, domestic violence, and petty criminal mischief. There is conflicting accounts given to the police. Cooper says he braced his neck against her neck while retrieving his phone after she threw it across the room. She told an officer he grabbed her by the neck and held her against the wall for a minute, and then picked her up, threw her to the ground three times, and punched the wall next to her head. A forensic nurse's hospital exam documented a choking injury, creating a substantial risk of death or serious injury, including possible traumatic brain injury. So then, based on that exam happening, two charges were added to Cooper. A felony second-degree assault by strangulation and third-degree assault, knowingly or recklessly causing bodily injury. And there was a protection order issued for her. Then Cooper was arrested again after sending her 20 messages and made two unanswered calls, then went to her apartment and knocked on her door. He left when she called 911, but it was arrested again on harassment and protection order violation charges. Since then, the misdemeanor charge on her has been dropped by the judge. Now, here's where we have the update. Friday, July 3rd, Cooper appears at Douglas County Court and was released on personal reconnaissance bond, but ordered to comply with a strict no-contact order and requires court approval to travel outside of Colorado. All of the charges from both of his arrests were consolidated into one felony case. He previously had a jury trial for July 22nd to 23rd, but now there's a disposition hearing set for July 24th with no new trial date yet. So we have all of this going on. He now has one felony charge. He has a disposition hearing on the 24th awaiting potential trial. Where are the Broncos at in all of this? He's excused from mandatory minicamp, and the Broncos haven't taken any uh super strong stance either way on him. Reminder: you can't assault your wife. You can't assault anyone. It's honestly so insane to me that players are still getting the amount of grace when we have felony cases. And even if they're not arrested and go to jail, if there is proof that the assault happened, I think the NFL needs to take a way stronger stance on this. Like a small $100,000 fine, not enough for me. So I've said this and I'll say it again. I think we need more transparency, especially as the NFL wants to cater more to women. Let's move on. Story number five, Tyreek Hill. I don't know if you guys remember, Tyreek Hill got carted off in the middle of the season last year and had almost a joker-like smile when he was leaving. It was very clear that he was kind of upset about what was going on. In terms of play alone, Tyreek Hill was a diamond in the rough on a sinking ship of a Miami Dolphins team. So he went off on the cart last season, had multiple torn knee ligaments and a dislocated knee from last season. Multiple teams are monitoring, monitoring his rehab, but it is now kind of as we're getting into July, a possibility that he does not play at all in 2026. He is a free agent as of now. So completely unsigned. If nobody signs and picks him up, he's not playing. And even if he does get picked up, it's a little bit risky since he's still in rehab. There's also no coach or team behind him to tell the media, tell other teams what's going on with his rehab. You know, we see a lot for Patrick Mahomes, like he's trending to be able to play at the beginning of the season. We get all these updates on player injuries, but when you're a free agent, you don't have a team behind you. So it's really up to you and your agent to make it known what your status is. So I'm kind of following that. Tyreek Hill is a dog wide receiver. Um, he had some off-season drama. I don't know if you guys saw this, but there was a woman, and apparently he wanted to like run some drills with her. She left, was in pain, ended up with a broken leg. It's like this whole big dramatic thing. Maybe I'll have to report on that next week as an update, or when he gets signed, we'll give the update. But he's been um a messy Jesse, honestly, this offseason. Since the middle of last season, we've kind of seen Tyreek be a messy Jesse. Haven't seen anything crazy after the whole woman comes to his house and breaks her leg situation from Tyreek Hill, but interested to see what happens next with him. All right, final story of the day. We have some free agent and contract reports because there's a couple of open contracts that the girls need to know about because these are three really big players in the NFL. So we start off with George Pickens, wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. He signed a franchise tag of 27.3 million for 2026. He was kind of holding out, he skipped OTAs, which were voluntary. And we believe that that was in hopes of a longer contract extension this year. But Dallas has said and it's cited that Dallas wants a second consistent season with him before committing further. So they're maybe concerned about consistency after his Pittsburgh uh Pittsburgh stint. And then he essentially signs the tag, passes the physical. And did practice at mandatory minicamp. So there's no holdout for training camp. He's at the mandatory practices. He is still on the Cowboys and is moving forward as such. So that drama is kind of over. He is a little outspoken on social media. I'm interested to see how this goes. Hopefully, for him, he has a great season. He kind of brings the drama down, keeps the play high, and we'll see what happens this season and next season. Then we have Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens quarterback. Lamar Jackson has two years left on his current deal. They restructured his deal in March of 2026 to free up cap space. And 2027 absorbed the difference, rising 2027's pay to $84.49 million owed to Lamar Jackson. Now Steve Bisciotti, Steve Biscotti has pushed, uh, he's the owner, has pushed to finalize an extension before free agency, but nothing is signed yet. If he wanted to reclaim the title of highest played player title, he would have to top Dax Prescott's $60 million APY. There's no public deadline set. He's expected at camp, regardless of contract status. I think Lamar for the Ravens truly is the guy. And I think that, you know, Jameer Gibbs mentioned for the Lions that he's not really super concerned about the contract. He believes the contract's going to work itself out. All of that is going to happen. I think Lamar Jackson probably feels a similar way. He has skipped more in the past. And I think this really is on the franchise to make it right because they're the one who freed up all of the cap space last year and then put themselves in this position. I don't necessarily think this is Lamar's problem, but Lamar in this situation now is gonna negotiate for himself and make sure that he's getting a great contract, especially if they're having to even bring this stuff back up. Like unless they're going to give him more, having to rehash all of this is necessary, but also unnecessary. Like it's not gonna be great for the player to have to hash out contract disputes if you don't have to. So we'll see what Lamar Jackson's uh different contract setup looks like kind of as we get closer to the season. Then we have Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Bucks quarterback. He's entering the final year of a three-year deal, approximately 33 million uh per year signed in 2024, which is crazy because yeah, Dak Prescott's at 60 million a year. Baker Mayfield's like nearly half of that. He's now looking to push the $50 million per year mark, which is $17 more than he's getting paid now. Both sides have said that they are nowhere close to actually getting a deal done. Um, Baker set his own deadline of by the start of training camp, July 30th, or negotiations pause until after the season. I love this. I love that he said, you know what, I'm willing to work with you guys. I want you to give me what I want, but we're not reading it, we're not negotiating during season. This will not continue during season. I think it's a class act move. I think it protects him and protects the rest of the team and protects the front office from any drama that may ensue any frustration that could be hurtful to the Bucs, who frankly need a great season because last year the Panthers kicked the Bucs' asses. And the Bucs are not going to want that again. And the Panthers are only getting hotter. So the Bucs really need to lock in or get out. He final to close this all out, he has said that he will not hold out or sit out over the contract. So it seems like they are on good terms overall, even though they may not be close to finding a middle ground. Finally, uh one more free agent wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins, has not seen a contract yet this deep into the offseason. Apparently, he is deliberately taking his time to choose a contender. And he's told reporters, quote, I still got a lot of ball left. He has named Joe Burrow as someone he would want to play with and rumored potential teams, the Bengals, Vikings, Chiefs, and a persistent commander's rumor, which does not look good for Brandon I. So those are our top six stories of the week. Congrats to Travis and Taylor. I'm happy for all of the um wives and girlfriends of players that got to go and the media girls. What a cool weekend for the female NFL fan base to get to watch um all of the speculation unfold uh in such a beautiful way. Taylor truly did change the NFL as we know it and the female fan base as we know it. And I, at least here, can, you know, put some of my thanks to that for having a lot of women who are more interested in football now than ever, which makes our community better, stronger, and frankly more fun. That's all I have for you today. Happy Wednesday or whenever you are listening to this. We are dropping some fantasy pre-signups in the coming couple of weeks. So stay tuned for that. The league will officially open. Um, if you don't know, it is our all women's fantasy football league. In August, the league officially opens back up with a couple of new and fresh details because we've grown. So that's it. I hope you have a great week. Love you bye.
