Conflict Resolution For Musicians
We share a comprehensive 10-step conflict resolution plan to help leaders navigate workplace tensions effectively and transform conflicts into opportunities for team growth.
• Consider yourself first and look at situations from the other person's perspective
• Remove personal feelings and deal only with facts
• Avoid negative words that inflame situations
• Address one concern at a time to prevent overwhelming others
• Use collaborative language and document conversations via email
• Listen fully without interruption when others respond
• Avoid spreading information to uninvolved parties
• Know the difference between conflict (a simple clash) and harassment (aggressive intimidation)
• Bring in a neutral third party to mediate difficult conversations
• Keep appropriate supervisors informed for proper guidance
Leadership is a skill we must continuously polish and improve. Having a solid conflict resolution plan ensures success in managing workplace tensions.
Hi, in this video I'm going to give you a conflict resolution plan. Conflict is something that's unavoidable, so we want to be prepared when it happens. We want to follow these steps, so write this down, let's go. Number one consider yourself. Look at it from the other party's perspective before jumping to conclusions. Number two remove all personal feelings. Only deal with the facts. Sometimes things are not always what they seem to be, and sometimes what you see is not what it really is. Number three avoid negative words. Remember the objective is to resolve the issue. Derogatory words seem to inflame the situation.
Speaker 1:4. Address one concern at a time. Addressing multiple issues can sometimes feel like an attack. Work to resolve the most important issue. Number five address the concern. Address the concern to the individual or individuals using words. Like us, we team together.
Speaker 1:Make sure you use an email. This way you have a paper trail, so so if you have a question, you know exactly what was said. Number six listen, listen to the entire response, never interrupt. Number seven avoid spreading the word. Spreading the word tends to create division and can cause people to choose sides. Avoid involving parties that are not involved.
Speaker 1:Number eight conflict versus harassment. A conflict means to be incompatible or a simple clash. Harassment is aggressive intimidation or pressure. Know the difference. Harassment is to be taken to your superior immediately. Number nine bring in a third party. Bring in a neutral party to mediate the conversation. Now, this is done to avoid yelling or disrespect from either party. This also brings a different opinion. Be willing to listen to the other opinion. And lastly, number 10, send a copy of the email. Send a copy of the email to an immediate supervisor or teammate and then wait for the steps on how to proceed.
Speaker 1:Conflict is something that's going to happen. You can't avoid it. It's going to happen in every single department. The way you handle it or the way you deal with conflict. That's going to determine how people follow your leadership. Are you a good leader or are you a bad leader? Leave it in the comments below. If this helps you, like and subscribe. My name is Rico Anthony and I want you to remember leadership is a skill. It's not something that you just have. It's a skill. We have to polish it, we have to work on it. Having a great conflict resolution plan is going to ensure success, at least in the conflict area.
