Fort Hood’s Horses

Inside Killeen co-host Jacob Brooks, managing editor of the Killeen Daily Herald, is joined by Military Editor Brent Johnson and Scott Sjule, a retired Army first sergeant who served as the top enlisted soldier of the storied 1st Cavalry Division’s Horse Detachment. The Army recently announced most ceremonial horse units, including 1st Cav’s, will be deactivated in the next year, marking an end of a horse unit at Fort Hood that began more than 50 years ago.
