It Begins With You
It Begins With You
From: Komal, Forum, George, Imogen and Vanessa (Student Officers at The Union)
Say hello to your friendly Student Officers - they represent you during your time at Manchester Met, both in and out of your studies.
Komal, President:
Hi and welcome. I'm Komal, President of the Student Union, along with four amazing officers.
My job is to represent you, to make sure your voice is heard and your needs are understood. Because you truly belong here, just as you are.
We'd love for you to come and talk to us, whether if you have ideas, concerns, or just want to chat. If you're not out and about talking to students, you’ll find us on the second floor of The Union. Come and say hi. We're friendly, approachable, and we've often got sweets.
Forum, Education Officer:
Hey, I’m Forum Yadav, your returning officer for Education at The Union.
Congratulations, and I'm super excited to welcome you at Manchester Met. The Union is here to support you at every step of your wonderful journey, and can't wait to meet you and see you shine.
I'll bring the good vibes you bring the energy. I'll see you soon.
George, Wellbeing Officer:
Hello everyone! My name is George and I am your Wellbeing Officer here at Manchester Met for this year.
I just wanted to say congratulations. You've done amazing to get here. Well done. I just wanted to say that university isn't always a straight line. So if you find yourself struggling, homesick, or just want someone to chat to, you're always welcome here at the Students’ Union. Come see us on the second floor.
And, yeah, hope you have an amazing start to university and we'll see you soon.
Imogen, Sport Officer:
Hello, my name is Imogen and I’m your Sports Officer for this year, and the first piece of advice I want to give is to just get involved. It is not as scary as you think, and there are literally thousands of people in the same boat as you. And you never know where you're going to find your people.
Another piece of advice I want to give is to go at your own pace and just keep patting yourself on the back, because I know it can be a lot when you come to uni, but keep reminding yourself of how far you've come.
Vanessa, Societies Officer:
Hi, my name is Vanessa and I'm your Societies and Development Officer at the Students’ Union.
Welcome to Manchester Met and huge congratulations on securing your place. I'm here to help you make the most of your uni life, from joining societies to building your own community.
Get ready to meet new people, discover what you are passionate about and feel right at home here. We can't wait to see you on campus. Take care.
