Hi everyone and welcome. You're listening to the Brick by Brick podcast from Renovation Church, where faith gets built one church at a time. Each week, we'll hear inspired sermons from our pastors, deeper dive discussions that unpack the wisdom of God's word and grounded episodes with stories and encouragement from members of our very own church family. Whether you're new to faith or have been walking with Jesus for years, there's something here for you. So kick back, hit play, and let's build this thing together.

Hi, Mary. Hi, how are you today? Doing good. Awesome. I'm so happy to be here with you. Um, I wanted to follow up on your grounded video and ask you ask you a question. So you in your grounded video um spoke about Matthew 27, 51. I back up one verse and start in uh verse 50. It's the context. And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. So at that moment, to your point in verse 51, at that moment, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split, and the tombs broke open, the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus' resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people. This is so interesting to me. Um, and that um in that moment that was that the the curtain was torn in two, you made the amazing point that that is um a deeper meaning, that we now have access to God through the death and resurrection of his son.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

So I just wanted to ask you, um, go a little deeper with what that means to you and and maybe individuals out there who who don't know God um through that blood. Okay. Um but what is it, what does it mean to you, Mary?

SPEAKER_02

Well, for me, it really opened my eyes. I've read it many times, but growing up as a Catholic, we had to go to confession and confess our sins to a priest who, you know, in turn gave you these forgiveness and all this. And after I left kind of because of that, um, knowing that through friends of mine that went to an evangelical church, you can talk to God anytime, ask him anything, ask for forgiveness. And when I've you know got the true meaning of this verse, I'm like, wow, it's right here in the Bible, too. You know, you can talk to God anytime, ask for forgiveness. And I've told people that before. You can ask him into your heart, you can do it all in your private room, in the car, anywhere you want, you know, the true meaning, not having to go through somebody else to ask for that.

SPEAKER_01

Isn't it amazing how many times we can read a verse or a chapter of scripture in maybe it is just like we're human and we miss it, or maybe God doesn't reveal it to us in that moment, but suddenly the 13th time you read it, I know God reveals something to you.

SPEAKER_02

And looking up, you know, sometimes just the access we have now to look up the meaning of some of these verses, it just hit me like that's what this means all the time. It was right there, you know. And uh just the openness of it to be able to talk to him has helped me out a lot, you know.

SPEAKER_01

What what would you say as we come up to Easter to that individual who maybe doesn't know Jesus or know God, and they're they're thinking about maybe coming to church or or maybe they've been to church but really never opened up to Christ. What would you say to that person?

SPEAKER_02

I would say to him, don't be afraid. That he is, it's just like talking to your best friend and your father. And uh you can say anything you want, ask him. You don't always get what you ask for, but there's a reason for it and patience, um, but just not to be afraid that God is there, right there with you in every situation. And sometimes I think we get busy and we think, oh, I don't have time for this, or he doesn't have time for me, but he does. He's always there.

SPEAKER_01

He is. I love that.

SPEAKER_02

That's been my biggest, you know. I was thrilled when I read it, kind of ashamed that all these years I didn't really know the true meaning of it, you know. So, and I hope someday I have that to share with somebody else that we that I've learned that over all these years.

SPEAKER_01

That's amazing. I love that, absolutely love that. All right, well, thank you so much, Mary, for expanding a little.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no problem.

SPEAKER_01

And we just look forward to a wonderful Easter here at Foundation Church. Thanks, Matt. All right, thanks.
