Miss Edith says she wanted to like go and take a trip. So she is in Paris with the rest of the team that's over there. So continue to pray for them as they enjoy themselves. Early returns have been nothing but good. So it's always fun to hear and see that. I have the pleasure of coming from Genesis chapter 39. Genesis chapter 39. And I've been told this is a continuation of As the Bible Turns. And okay, let's make it happen. Genesis 39 is a continuation of something that we picked up on in Genesis chapter 37. Genesis chapter 37, we meet the man Joseph. And we see Joseph was the victim of a print gone wrong. And um this and that particular verbiage honestly sticks out because I don't know if you all read the news recently about there was, I want to say in the Metro Latta area, there was this teacher who accidentally, probably the accident of accidental deaths, died. Apparently, there's the school prank that goes on, and the students were at his house. So they were coming to his house to perform the prank. But sadly, um, he came outside, and my my understanding was that when he came outside, he knew about the prank, and he was coming to tell the students, be safe, be careful. As he was coming out to admonish them, he slipped and falls. The kid gets spooked, a bunch of high school students runs over the teacher, and everybody stops and freezes, turns around, try to minister CPR, and the teacher dies. So that was like a week ago. And so it was a prank. And right now, the the family of the teachers, like, hey, you know, please take it easy on the kids, that just kids, you know, this is what the teacher would have wanted. He was all in for the prank. Please take it easy on the kids. Honestly, as I think about that, this is what you have, a different scale, of course, in Genesis 37 and the consequences in Genesis 39. Genesis 37 toward the end of it, Joseph, his brothers are jealous of him. He's one of the younger ones of the brood. The brothers are jealous of him, they're tired of his stuff. Um, not only did his father pick him up out of everybody because he was born to his father's favorite wife. And so now his brothers are like, you know what? This is 37. We gotta do something about this kid. We're tired of him. And so they catch him, tie him up, put him into the bottom of a well. When they leave him, some people came through, and they end up selling his brother, which is kind of interesting. How you get from, hey, let's just play this thing out to let's make a couple of dollars, it's a whole different thing. And then I even think I heard one of the exhortists we say they sold it for less than market value. Long story short. So now in 39, we pick up the story, he ends up in Egypt. So Joseph is a Hebrew, ends up in Egypt, and by the providence of God, by the providence of God, he ends up in the household of one of the high-ranking officials in Pharaoh's palace. So, in this particular chapter, what we see is two things. One, we see that despite what Joseph is going through, the presence, the favor of God that was upon his life never left. This is evidenced by Joseph being able to go down. And somebody who is ethnically, religiously different, and I've always been fascinated by how they communicated. Maybe Joseph learned Egyptian, maybe because it was the superpower of the day, everybody learned to speak Egyptian, like a lot of people speak English now. But Potiphar, the man's who he sold to, ends up seeing that dude's different. He's a little bit different. So, because the favor of God, the blessings of God, which is without repentance about each and one of our lives, it's like, hey, whatever he sets his hands to do, he prospers. First, he comes in as just a slave. You need somebody to handle his affairs. But over time, Potiphar notices that one there, he has IT it. But if you read in the Bible, it's like, hey, the Lord was with them. The Lord was with them. And so he goes through, he eventually works his way up, or the favor of God elevates him to where he's just some slave to number two in Potiphar's household, to where now Potiphar has to only think about regard his affairs, what he's going to eat. What he's going to eat. Just think about your life. If you had somebody that took care of everything for you, and all you had to figure out is what am I going to eat today? You don't have to worry about this, manage that. You don't have to, nothing because this person is taking care of it. The only thing that was off limit to Joseph was Potiphar's wife, of course. But Mrs. Potiphar had other plans. Um, according to the Bible, and I like when the Bible gets descriptive, it says Joseph was let's see, in particular, verse in verse 6, it says, um, in the epified, now Joseph was an attractive person and fine-looking. In different translation, he was well built, and Mrs. Potiphar apparently, either Potiphar wasn't handling his business on his own, or Mrs. Potiphar just had too much time on her hand. And so she begins to lust after Joseph. But Joseph does something in that reminded me, I was reading is Colatius chapter 5, verse 16. Walk in the spirit. We know that God being with them is early language for the spirit. Walk in the spirit. And then we see how the favor of God makes us rich, how he is showing Joseph so much favor that he became more attractive. Because this is walking in the spirit does, it makes you more attractive. Not only in to where you have the favor of God, but the downside of favor at times begins to be that you begin to be targeted by the enemy. And so Miss Potiphar represents the enemy who wants to get Joseph focused less on walking in the spirit to gratifying the desires of the flesh as well as to walking in after desires of the flesh. So she was an assignment sent after Joseph. Look at what she had. She had power, she had rank, and she had influence to where if Joseph gave in to what she was saying, Joseph would have been a made man, a kept man, because it was like, hey, you're somebody who honestly I should in my natural bow my needs. But Joseph was chose not to sin against God, which reminded me of Daniel. What he did, he kept distance, he separated himself. The Bible said in one translation, they weren't even in the same room because he knew she wanted him. So they kept going, and eventually he lets his guard down. They end up close enough to where she grabs him. So she grabs him, and the Bible says, flee temptation, and Joseph runs, runs out of the house. She has his cloak. She accuses him of rape, or at least attempted rape. And she was like, Hey. So she makes a scene, she has his coat. She tells first the other people within the household, he tried to rape me, but when I screamed and yelled, he ran away. Waited till the end of the day, she staged everything. Potiphar comes back home. Hey, this slave that you bought into the house, yeah, he tried to rape me. Here's his cloak as evidence. And it was that special. It was his. Everybody knew it was Joseph. So Potiphar unjustly didn't even ask a question. Because it's one of the situations to where you kind of always find out when stuff is to affairs. Like, okay, where do I really rank? Am I more than just a slave to you or a servant to you? And we see Joseph, no, without even a trial, without even asking questions, Potiphar immediately throws him into jail. But this is the jail for political prisoners. This is not the jail where you know they throw away the key, and it's like, oh, okay, substantial conditional. This is the jail where Pharaoh's political enemies go. But yet, still, despite this situation, the Lord was with Joseph. The Lord was with Joseph. Even in prison, something familiar happens. Begin to move around, and people notice Joseph has IT, the favor of the Lord. To where now the keeper of the prisoners, I don't know, I think it was a warden, it may have been a warden. I don't know if it's a guard or warden, puts Joseph over all the prisoners. And he didn't even have to worry about anything. Why? Joseph was on it. And most importantly, Yeado, he was walking through the valley through this hard moment, and Yedo, he did everything right, but still got the boot, still did things wrong. The Bible says God was with Joseph. God never left Joseph. This is encouragement to you. There are times where you may do the right thing. You may be completely innocent. You acted with integrity, but yet, and still, in this part of your entire story, the enemy look like he's won. When he made you question, should I continue to try to do the right thing? Reggie, why should I keep holding on? Why should I remain faithful? Why should I remain focused? Why should I honor God when the other people can play dirty? The story is not finished. This part about Joseph, there's a 39, there's a chapter 40 and a 41. The Bible says, Vengeance shall be mine, thus says the Lord. And then honestly, as we continue to read through this, listen to how Joseph begins to speak differently. I don't really know why God didn't stop this from happening. That's the one thought that I had. Why didn't God stop this from happening? Why did He not? It was interesting that we know God was always with Joseph. But it makes you wonder why did not God say, we're not gonna let this happen? Why did God allow Joseph to walk through this particular path? I don't know. I wish I could say why. But always remember that even though God allows things to happen, his presence, his grace is sufficient. And with that, I'm over time. My apologies. I will go to breakout rooms.
