All right, so let's go ahead and begin. Um I am so okay, so let's go ahead and begin. I have Genesis chapter 44 that I will be reviewing today. And um it is uh just a recap of everything that happened before uh Pastor Reggie brought he did uh 43 last night and we know that we are in um talking about Joseph and his brothers. Um we're also talking about um Jacob um who birthed all these children. So I wanted to give us a little bit of um a little bit of background in history. Y'all know um part of what I do is help people connect to life, and how we do that is um and cope with life and life challenges, um, is we kind of sometimes go through a journey of their lineage. And I'm just gonna do that again for us just briefly, um, just to kind of get us and then fast-forward us back to where we are in chapter 44. So um I'm on the wrong page. Okay, gotta look at my notes. I got notes everywhere. And let me just say this the word of God is so good, I did not um realize how good it was until I really started digging through these chapters like we have been doing and finding out how amazing um it is. We know it and we've been saying it all our lives about the Bible and the scriptures and this, that, and the other. But when you actually take the time to study the word of God, study the make thyself approve, a workman unto God who need needs need not be ashamed. And I'm probably rightly dividing the word of truth. Somebody put that scripture in the chat because I know I might have messed it up. But it's good, it's good, it's good, good, good. So, um, and I'm really excited to talk about it. And every time I have to get up here and talk before you guys, I am just so excited about what I learned and what is revealed to us, God. So I just thank you so um for listening. And let's talk about Jacob. And Jacob was the brother of Esau. We know the history behind that, or if you recall, the history behind the two brothers. Um, and we're in Jacob, we're talking about Jacob and his lineage, which is ultimately the line of Jesus. So Jacob had 12 tribes, and so I knew this, but I didn't recall it until today or yesterday when I went through some of the history. He has 12 kids, only six of them were with Leah, his first wife. And we remember the story about the first wife. She was not really his choice, but he, you know, he married her and ended up having six children with her. Um, Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Ishetar, and Zebulun. I'm gonna try not to but butcher some of these names. Then he had gotten his second wife, who he really, really loved, which was Rachel, that was his favorite wife. And um, she had through through that through that marriage, he had um Joseph and Benjamin. Now, what he I this is something that I learned, and I knew it, but I didn't know. He had some additional children. He had four additional children. He had two children with Rachel's servant, Balau. I don't know if that's the pronunciation of her name, but two additional children um with her servant, and then he had two additional children with um Leah's servant. And so this is where the 12 tribes of Judah come from. We think that it came from Leah, uh Leah and Rachel, but there were two other. So basically, as the as the Bible turns, Jas Jacob basically had four baby mamas, is how we would say it in today's uh terms. He had four different women who um gave birth to his children. So um, and this is where we get the 12 tribes of Judah from. Now, mind you, Rachel had the she was his favorite wife, she had the two children, Joseph and Benjamin. So today we're talking about Joseph, and we know the story about Joseph and how Joseph got thrown in the ditch um by his brothers, by his siblings. Yes, he had four baby mamas. Um, but Jacob was thrown in a ditch by his siblings, and we know that, you know, and he was thrown in a ditch because that he had a dream and told them, you know, his siblings that they were going to bow before him. Now we're fast forward to where we are today, which is basically the land of Egypt. No, not the land of Egypt, the land of Canaan was having a famine. And during the famine, um, they went to the land of Egypt, where they ran into their brother, Joseph, did not realize it was Joseph, their brother. They ran into them, him, because they needed food. They were they were running out of food over there, so they went to Joseph to get some food. So Joseph provided them with some food. He told his servants, and the scripture is there, I wanted to read it to you. But he basically told um his camp to to fill up their bags, like fill them to the to the to the to the utmost. And these were his siblings. Now, the siblings didn't realize that this was their brother and that he was in charge of all and the one that they did the worst to, that they tricked and threw into the the the thing, the um the pit. Well, they didn't realize that Joseph was the one that was giving the orders to fill their bags up. But Joseph was testing them, he tested them, and he wanted to see if basically if there was any change in their heart. Didn't know that until afterwards, but he was trying to see if there was any difference in any change in them. So basically he told them that um, I want you to, I'm gonna take one of my cups, we're gonna take one of my cups and put it in one of their bags. So he took the cup, somebody, one one of the servants took the cup and stuck it in um the bag. He stuck it in Benjamin's bag. Now, Benjamin in the lineage is also, again, that's Rachel's son, his full brother. You know, you got half-brothers, he was the full brother. Benjamin was the full brother. So um, I don't even know if they really realized that they were putting it in the the um in Benjamin's Joseph's um full brother's bag. I don't even know if they even realized that. Nonetheless, they did that. And so when they got to go on their journey, um, he sent a servant after them and was like, hey, somebody basically took some stuff from me. Now Joseph planted this. He tricked them, he planted it. And um when they came out and found out, the the brothers are like, What are you talking about? We didn't do anything. We came with you with the utmost respect. We came to you, you know, asking for something. We needed this, so we came in, you know, to do what we needed to do and get what we got. Why would we do this to you? Um, so he asked them to empty the bags, and when they emptied the bags, of course, Benjamin, the youngest brother, which is um Joseph's real brother, not half-brother, but real brother, they had the same mama. Jacob had compassion on him because it was his younger brother. Matter of fact, when they all came in originally um to get the food, Jacob actually saw his brother Benjamin, the one that he had with his mom, his mom Rachel, and he actually had compassion on him. And he tried not to let his expression show when they came in originally. He saw his brother and was like, oh my gosh, that's my brother Benjamin. So, but he was trying to still wear this, you know, this face of being a ruler. And um, so anyway, fast forward back to Benjamin having the um the cup. Well, at this point, one of the brothers, Judah, and Benjamin also was the youngest child of Jacob. So he was the youngest child of all the children that Jacob had from the four baby mamas. Um, but Judah, one of the siblings, was like, yo, I we don't know where this came from. You know, I'm sure he's probably looking at his brother with the side eye, like, oh my gosh. Um, and Judah was like, Listen, we we can't have him, you know, get in trouble for this. Like, if you have to take somebody's life, take mine. I can't let my brother go down like this. He's the baby of the brother. My dad can't take it. My dad is gonna be like uh Jacob is already old and he's already lost one son, um, and so much has happened in his life. We can't not have his youngest child come back to him because it's this is really gonna take him out. So Judah decided to take the place of his brother. Um and um okay, da da da. Yes, he said it would destroy my father if um if we took um if we did this to him. So that's kind of the recap of what happened. And when you get to chapter uh 45, and I'm not gonna do um a spoiler alert because I know um Dr. Ivan will have um have a little bit more to say tonight about what happens. But when you look at the chapters 43 through 45, you see this is about Jacob, the story is about Jacob and Joseph, Joseph primarily, and basically a story of somewhat redemption, of forgiveness, redemption, um trickery. There's a lot of stuff. And one of the things that I wanted to focus on and some of the lessons that um we talked about in our group last night was um I brought up uh family curses and family um bloodline stuff. And we talked about that Sunday at church as well. I think that's one of the altar calls that happened on Sunday was they asked people to come up if they were one of the ones chosen in their family and wanted to put a stop to some of the stuff that's happening in the bloodline. And if we look at these stories here, this it goes back to Adam and Eve. There's a whole lineage of things that happened: trickery, deceit, murder, all kinds of stuff. Um, people sleeping with people's, you know, um, there was a rape story with one of Jacob's daughters. There was a whole lot of things that happened and fast forward to the bloodline of Jesus. All of this stuff is in the lineage and the bloodline of Jesus. And one of the things that I wanted to point out is that, you know, and I say this often, if we don't know, we have to know the bloodline. We have to know when to stop the bloodline, when to, we don't have to move on in some of the things. You've heard it said before, um, she sounds just like her daddy, or she's got the expression of her daddy, and she was never raised with her daddy. She never saw her daddy ever in life. But some of those generational things can actually come upon you, and you have to be aware of them so that you can um rebuke that in your bloodline. And in this particular situation, like I said, there were so many things that happened. There was trickery, there was betrayal, but there was also the redemptive part of love. Because one of the things that it shows us is that there's forgiveness, there's love, there's honor. Um, one, God is faithful to his word because God had given Joseph a dream that he was going to be, that his siblings were going to bow before him. So God is like, he's so good. Like he's such a such a good, good God. Um protection um in the story because now um Judah wants to protect Benjamin. Whereas when Joseph was around, they didn't protect him. They actually threw him in a in a pit. So now I guess over life they've changed a little bit. The older they got, the better they got. They wanted to change. Um, he wanted to change. So there was growth that happened in there. Um, instead of saving themselves, they um, you know, put put themselves out there. Um leadership. Judah showed leadership and standing up for his brother. So there were so many, there's so many lessons in in the Bible, and it is like a like a like we say, kind of like a little the shade room, the the soap opera, if you will. But there's so many lessons to be learned. I learned that I didn't know that Jacob had four baby mamas. What does that say? There's a lot of things that we find out in the scripture that we did not know. Benjamin was the youngest, he was the youngest of the um the children, 12 tribes of Judah. All of that comes from this lineage right here. Um, and it gets us to where we are today and how Jesus ended up coming and going to the cross for us and redeeming himself by our sins and all the mess, all the mess that our families have. Um, and I have a clock up there, so that means that I am gonna go ahead and turn it over to the breakout rooms. Thank you.
