Praise God. All right. Today we're going into Genesis 46 and focusing on today's theme is going to be in the transition. Trust and movement of a nation. And God has impressed this. Well, every time I share, God is also speaking to me. So I love, I love when that happens. But in Genesis 46, it's not just talking about, of course, a relocation overall. It's about God moving through a covenant family into position and preservation. So basically, he's also looking to do multiplication for future deliverance. And I always say this is called God math. God math is always multiplication. So let's draw attention to how God is looking to not only multiply or how he multiplied in this story, um, but how he's looking to multiply in your life. So everyone's journey begins with worship. And so did it in Genesis 1, excuse me, Genesis 46.1. Here, this is Jacob, and he leaves the promised land and he's stopping at Bathsheba to offer sacrifices. This is important because Jacob is not moving emotionally, he's moving spiritually first. That is the exact notion that we need to be mindful of every single day to start with worship, to start with tapping into the spirit before we go into the natural. Now, here, before this major transition happens, again, Jacob is seeking God before he moves. God gives us that same instruction every day. But here for Jacob, Beersheba was tied to his father. Now, this is a space where now Isaac, um, where Isaac Isaac worshiped there in this space, it also represents a covenant continual, continuity, a continuing covenant represented here. So Jacob is like stopping to honor God as his father before stepping into a new season. I cannot stress this enough. We cannot afford not to be in the presence of God. So before a decision, before putting your feet on the ground, I like to say, even before going to the restroom, we we must follow the commandment to seek God first. To go back into the story, later in Genesis 46, 2, God is speaking to Jacob in the night. And we know this because God calls in scripture. He says, Jacob, Jacob. Now, when there is repetition in the word of God, God is looking to get our attention. Anytime we see that duplication in a word, God is putting emphasis on it. Now, this in here, Jacob then responds, Here I am, right? How many times does God call us and we say, Here I am? But here, God is uh Jacob is telling, God is telling Jacob, do not fear going into Egypt. I will make you a great nation, I will go with you, and I will bring you back. And so this right here is speaking the same thing to me that God tells us every day. I will make you a place of provision, and I'll also um take you from the place that you are to where you're going. And for in the story with Jacob, he's saying this place will later become bondage. He was giving him a foreign note of what would be to happen. And and God ultimately here is saying that even in unfamiliar and in risky environments, I'm with you. This is one of the um for well, this is a very clear example in the bib in the Bible, just expressing God leading people into a place that is both a blessing and a process. So even for us on a day-to-day best basis, sometimes we're trying to pass the process. You know, there is a refining that's a part of your process. You must go through some things to get to where you're positioned to be. But even in that unfamiliar space, that positioning is still very intentional. So when we're able to praise God in every circumstance, give God worship in every circumstance, we have to know when we say our steps are ordered by God, that He is not a God that is unaware of what is to come or what He's called you to, we have to choose to trust, as mentioned in the beginning. So going a little bit more down, just kind of want to sink into the power of going down. Jacob, uh, God tells Jacob to go down to Egypt. Why is that significant? And in the scripture, Egypt was consistently going down. Think about um geographically, um, even a spiritual symbolicness of let's just say, in a sense, decrease. And Egypt often represents like systems of the world, um, dependence outside of the promises or places testing um refinement. Once again, I mentioned that word. And sometimes God's allow his people to enter into systems not to conform, but to be positioned. And here for Jacob, his family is not going to Egypt to lose identity, they are going to Egypt to be preserved, multiplied, and prepared. What does that look like? The whole family moves together. God is so intentional. He's like, Jacob, bring your sons, your grandchildren, your daughters, and all of your possessions. This is not the case where he's telling, you know, just bring some of your stuff. He's saying, bring everything that's connected to you. This is a generational migration. The way God positioned Jacob, it was to set him up to bless his entire generation. And I know that God is doing that in so many of your lives right now. He called him out to be the move meant for his generation. So when God moves you, it's often bigger than you. As it stated, it affects your family, it affects your legacy, and it affects the future generations. So that obedience to move is required. It's not a request, it's a command. And God is very interested in blowing your mind to taking you to the next level, but you must go through. So there was a piece kind of going into the probably verse 8 to about 26 when it was speaking about the names that were recorded here in Genesis. And there was a long list of names. Um, but often, you know, we see the list of names and we skip them. But here I was reflected that this the names, it was 70 people entering into Egypt, and this was documented. And so this provided a full structure of Israel's family, and this is important because it is a legal and covenant record, right? Yes, we know us in the word, and sometimes we're not thinking about man. It is written, it is a legal covenant record. Now, this shows God tracks generations, He tracks generations, every person matters in the promise, and the nation begins with a small counted group. So sometimes it feels like, hey, things are not important. You know, we hear that we're fearfully and wonderfully made. God knows the hairs on our head. What concerns us concerns him. Every person matters in the promise. And here in this story, reflecting Jacob, God builds nations from structured families, not random growth. He wants us to grow together. So um going a little bit further in the expense of time, Judah, um, Jacob sends um, Jacob sends Judah ahead to meet Joseph. And again, even thinking about movement together, there's always someone that needs to lead. Judah is not the firstborn in the system, in this story, but he is leading. And originally, let's just say Reuben, the firstborn, lost his position because he compromised. That was reflected a little back in um Genesis 35. So you guys tie into that. But Judah has grown into leadership. He was cultivated into leadership and he was able to take a stand when the call came. So leadership is not just about birth order, who's first or who in this order is aligned to go first. Leadership is about maturity and transformation. Are you considering yourself? Are you positioning yourself to mature in the things of God, to hear the voice of God, to quickly obey, but to transform? I think about as well Romans 12:1 and 12.2. You first are surrendering. You're surrendering to God first. And then in that process, you're saying, hey, use me, Lord. I'm transforming by the renewing of my mind. But when you have that transformation, that renewed mind that only comes by faith and hearing and hearing by the word of God, you then should have some motion, some action that identifies that transformation. So here, Judah will be later become the king of tribes. He, as well as the lineage of the king of David, which is directly the lineage of Jesus Christ. So it's very important that you move when God tells you to move because again, he's looking to bless your bloodline. Well, man, we're protected and covered in the blood of Jesus, but he's looking to protect your bloodline. So just to provide a quick synopsis, kind of going on down, Jacob is being told that he will um not let him die since, no, excuse me. Joseph meets Jacob and weeps back after seeing him. He gets to Joseph re there's a reunion with Joseph, excuse me. And then Jacob is saying, Now that I've seen you, let me die. And this is a moment basically identifying that the promise has been fulfilled. So God is very interested in restoration for you, fulfillment, and God's faithfulness overall. So as you're kind of looking down, just understand that God's strategy is to separate you, to excel you to the next level. And here in this positioning, God is looking to not only shift your identity, shift the culture, but as well, remind you of his promise. And just in closing, worship will always come before your movement. Make and take the time to worship God first and acknowledge that God confirms your direction. Let him lead you. Don't just start making moves on your own. God wants you to move together with your family. God always operates in order. Structure is documented. God knows every single thing that concerns you. And then when leadership shifts, it is time for you to step up. So all this cultivating, all this praying, all this worshiping, all this reading in the word, when you're called, go. Your promise will be fulfilled through you, through you honoring the commandment, honoring the obedience. And again, strategy preserves the identity not only of you but of your family. So I believe in closing, just keep in mind that God will lead you into a place that is not your final destination, but it is necessary for your development.
