SPEAKER_01

What's up, everybody? Welcome to the Water Bros Podcast. As always, I'm your host, Zach, and this is my co-host Ben Hamine, my little brother. Um, you can't recognize that we're recording back to back because I turned my hat backwards. Ben, you're looking sharp. So grab a drink, get to the bench, and it's gonna be our very first bracket, but it's our sports movie goat bracket. Who is the greatest of all time? Which sports movie is just the best? Benny, I hope you're ready to have just a great conversation. These are some of the best. Yeah, I am pumped about it. And uh those closest to me know how much I love sports movies. I have uh, you know, I got a collection of them growing up, would always get new sports movies. Every single year. We always got movies for Christmas, for sure. Christmas, we all got a movie, and uh, even birthday, I think, for you, but it was always a sports movie without fail for you. Yeah, every time every single year. So some of my favorites are in this list, obviously, so I'm excited to to chat through those. But you know, I claim that my favorite movie, I mean it's a 1A, 1B, right? I love Glory Road and I love The Dark Knight, right? So one of my favorite movies of all time is the Cast on movie, 100%, and I I can't wait to see the debates to see how it falls. But Benny, first and foremost, we cannot start an episode without filling the jug, and so we'll do that real quick. I think for me, one, it's been uh doing the podcast without a single technical difficulty, it seems, and that is a huge, huge relief. But dude, you're looking sharp. I said earlier your poll's looking good. Um just excited to to be doing talking movies, man. That's it's gonna be a good time. I know this is like talk about filling the jug. I mean, for you, you love movies, you love sports, and we love doing the pop. And no technical difficulties. So that's it's my favorite thing. It's a lot of positives coming in for you. It is my favorite things across the board. Yeah, this is uh this is a new polo, new golf polo that I got for uh for that golf trip I did last month, which was really fun. Um it looks good, dude. But yeah, this is uh and it's and it's work appropriate, so that's a win-win. You know, it's gotta love dressing up. It doesn't happen every day, but when it does happen, it's a good day. It's it's a good day, actually exactly. So that that's filling the jug. I mean, you know, the national championship just ended. Congratulations to Michigan.

SPEAKER_00

The Wolverines beat University of Connecticut, the Huskies in the National Championship.

SPEAKER_01

So um is it possible that back-to-back Michigan basketball and the Michigan football win championships? That would be wild if uh Kyle Whittingham, Kyle Whittingham goes in there and they they get back, they they get to the top of the mountain. That'd be that'd be insane. I would be really happy for Kyle. That'd be really cool. And I'd be bummed out, but yeah, bummed out that it's not our our youths, but it'd be pretty crazy. Great story.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, and it it would be kind of egg on the face of our program because we kind of rushed him out of there. Yeah, exactly. Be very unfortunate, but don't hold anything against Kyle going to a big program that wants him to coach there. Like, that's a no-brainer. But yeah, absolutely. You gotta say yes to that every time. Yeah, every single time. Um, but Benny, let's break down this bracket a little bit for so um it's gonna be four regions, so we're gonna have four groups of eight movies that are going up against each other. Now, these are some of our favorites. Um, the rule was we had to have seen it, but I did with the help of AI and random generation, I did ask it to randomly seed and randomly uh populate these regions. But the one key is I separated it by more or less the sport, right? So we have our football legends, that's gonna be all football movies, baby. And uh that's gonna make up our first region. We have baseball and nostalgia. We haven't seen a ton of baseball movies, so we did substitute um I think one or two in there. Yeah, because once you get to those two, that's my least favorite first-round matchup because I don't want to say goodbye to either of them. Yeah, it's gonna be brutal. So we did substitute some stuff in there. We got some other sports in that section for us, and then uh we have Hardwood and Heart, that is our basketball section that also has a couple subs in there for us, uh, because we just hadn't seen some of the movies that they were calling out, and then uh last and not least, it is the grit and glory section, which is kind of our fighting combat movies, which that has some of my favorite movies of all time in there, um, with some others that we sprinkled in. So it's it's gonna be an absolute great time. The one rule is we have to agree. There is no split decision one way or the other. We have to come to one movie, and uh at the end of this, there will be one that stands above them all. Benny, my only tough is do you want to run through um do you want to run through all of the regions individually until you get your one winner out of each region and then uh do our kind of final fours?

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think I think we should run through each yeah, let's go through each division and get our winner in each section. I think that's a good idea. Okay, okay. So uh let's go ahead and start. What do you want to start with? Well, so you just announced it from that top to bottom, but I think we should start from the bottom. Let's start with the fight first. Let's leave football for last. The great and glory. Yeah, because football, I feel like those are the best matchups, those are some of the best movies. So that's gonna be a tough bracket. And uh the best thing about this is there's really there's really not a bad movie in here. I mean, if we're being honest. Like these are these are all absolute great movies. Um, and so I mean, you can't complain about any of this. It it's gonna be just a great time. I agree. I 100% agree. So I'm it I'm excited to uh to dive in here. There's one that I just saw that I think I forgot to replace, so I'm gonna replace it right now. It was in the baseball section. I've never seen the natural, so we gotta substitute that one out. Yeah, I've not seen that. And uh we're gonna put in there since I coined it this last time. I'm gonna put in there the bench warmers, which is very fitting for what potentially our fan base of uh 11 to 20 folks, depending on the day it can be called. Oh, that's incredible. So we'll we'll throw that one in there as a uh a seven seed, and that'll be good.

SPEAKER_00

The bench warmers, the bench warmers classic. That is so good. I love that.

SPEAKER_01

I've had hair on my butt since I could walk. That's so funny. Is that lemonade? No. I love beef, I love beef stew, man. It's gonna be this is gonna be such a good time. Okay, diving in, grit and glory, the first matchup. We have the all-time great dun dun dun d dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun Rocky, the Italian Stallion versus the Ironclaw, which the ironclaw for the people is the Zach Efron WWE wrestling highlight. I mean, it it's really professional wrestling, a family of three brothers that does it. Uh, great performance by Zach Efron in that. Yeah. A little a little biopic action, you know, by Zach Efron and and the crew highlighting the WW WCCW. Yeah, so it's like lower level professional wrestling and what that looks like for them. Absolute gut-wrenching movie. I was in tears. As a brother, I mean, I love you, dude. And so as a brother, oh man, it just tore my heart out. We're we're a set of three brothers. We are a set of three. So to watch that set of three brothers and and how that folds out is it's brutal. But Benny. I I agree. I I will say, as we start on this first, these first two movies, we do have to let the people know kind of what we're gonna be gauging uh yeah our criteria on, just so that they know why we're gonna lean one way or the other.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, kind of what we're talking this through.

SPEAKER_01

What our debating criteria is. Go ahead and tell them, dude. Yeah, so our debating criteria broken down into five things, and our resident movie expert Zach here is the one that helped us with this. But we've got cultural impact. Yep. We've got rewatchability, which is a big thing in the Hansen household. Yeah. Rewatchability was a big thing for us growing up. Rewatchability also plays into quotability. Yeah. I mean, we just saw bench warmers coming in hot with that. I know, yeah. We we just quoted like four different lines right away, right out of the gate. Best sports moments, which right away you think, and like on each of these, one movie keeps popping up for me. So it like I just think of best sports moments is watching sunshine just knock people out as a quarterback. I mean and then the last one, you mentioned it with Ironclaw, emotional pull. Yeah, because that part is important. I have claimed that the only movies that really make me cry. I mean, there are others that make me cry, but sports movies make me cry. They get you, they get you right in the heart. So so I'm interested to see how how we go in this, you know, in that route, but but let's get it started. So that's a little obviously Ironclaw. It's an emotional film, you know, wrestling, which you like wrestling. But Benny, I mean, let's not dance around the bush. This is an e Rocky is an all-time great. It is an incredible movie.

SPEAKER_02

Yo, Adrian, I didn't.

SPEAKER_01

And that might not be actually from Rocky One. Now that I'm thinking about I kind of conflate Rocky One and two a little bit. Yeah, right. But yo, but even then, it's so good. But Rocky's incredible. The budget they had to deal with on Rocky One, and that it became an all-time great, and then an all-time great franchise. And it's one that you know you can watch all the time. Sylvester Stallone kicked off the city. Incredible score, great sports moment. The fight between him and Apollo Creed and the hug at the end. Like it, it's just so good. How they talk about there won't be a rematch. There won't be a rematch. And obviously, we know that there is a rematch, but it's just it's such a great underdog story. Rocky wins for me. Yeah, Rocky wins for me as well. I think uh that one that's a it's a one seed for a reason. One one v8, that's hard to beat. It's it's one seed and it should be for sure. Okay, so Rocky moving forward. Next one up is gonna be uh these are not fighting, but they are all for the glory. Talladega Knights and Dodgeball, a true underdog story. Benny, what are your experience with these two? So, with both of these movies, I have seen them probably once, each of them. Okay. Okay. So I but I actually I've seen more of Talladega Nights because Ricky Bobby, there is something about Will Farrell to me. Oh, it's so tough. That's pretty tough. I think the scene that keeps popping up for me is the scene where they're at dinner. They're at the dinner table, and and he's saying all kinds of outlandish things and the prayer Dear six pound, eight ounce, baby Jesus. It's so good. It's so good. Yeah, so so that scene really gets me every time. But at the same time, shake and bake. Shake and bake. I mean, Ricky Bobby, and they're you know, obviously, Step Brothers isn't a sports movie, but those two together, they're dynamically, together is so good. Yeah, if you ain't first, you last. Yeah, so that's that's pretty hard to beat. Yeah, it's so good. Dodgeball with Ben Stiller is absolutely hysterical. I mean, it has such if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball. Like it's it's just so absurd and crazy. Um you got some great quotable lines there, too. Um I mean Ben Stiller's pretty impressive there. He is a job talent. Ben Stiller's just in good shape. Oh, yeah. Still is Joni loves Chachi after he throws the ball. He's so funny. There's great moments in that that movie. But Ben, I'm gonna throw out my pick. I am gonna go with Taladega. I am going Talladega as well. I'm leaning Will Ferrell star power in in that one. Alright, so far we have not had to fight too much, but I think we expected that for this particular division. I don't think we expected uh any tough battles here. Um yeah, no. I I think uh I think I may surprise you in round two in this division, but round one, maybe it's pretty pretty cut and dry. I don't I don't like to hear that. So let's keep going. So we got Warrior vs. Million Dollar Baby. Yes. And uh Warrior, obviously, story of two brothers in the UFC and then Million Dollar Baby. Yes, a great movie. Million Dollar Baby, another great uh boxing movie where you have a female boxer whose name I'm not gonna remember right now, and it got Clint Eastwood in there. Mm-hmm and talk about emotional pull. Holy smokes. If you want a movie to absolutely make you cry, Million Dollar Baby gets me every single time. Yeah, so it's so Hillary Swank is the actress. Hillary Swank things she and she plays Margaret Maggie Fitzgerald. Okay. Here's the thing that is gonna be tough about this one that people probably aren't gonna love about me. Okay. Yes, I've seen Million Dollar Baby. It is a good movie. It won Best Picture. Yeah, Million Dollar Baby's insane. When you look at it won four Oscars. So when you look at it from the overall view, yeah, it should probably win. But I'm gonna tell you something. We are brothers. The UFC brothers are nasty. They get after it. He had to break his brother's arm.

SPEAKER_02

The lift the lift and the and they're dealing with their dad who's like, I'm gonna get you, you know, and his face is all red, and he's he's listening, he's drunk, and he's like, Alright, dad, go back to bed.

SPEAKER_01

They they dealt with some demons, and then he won money for the school. Warrior moves on for me. No, Warrior. I mean, and Ben, this is one I would disagree with. I love Million Dollar Baby because of the emotional pull, but in that same note, the rewatchability for me is pretty low because it just breaks my heart every time. Whereas I would re-watch Warrior probably more frequently. I just can't emotionally I can't handle the hospital scene of Million Dollar Baby. It's just too hard. So I'll give you Warrior. It's not probably the one I'd put forward, but I'll give you Warrior. I like to make a good argument. Just Warrior's unbelievable. Uh Million Dollar Baby's unbelievable. It is a crazy movie. It is a crazy movie, and and maybe this is gonna be that little bit of give and take, I guess. So that so there's one one my way. Well, I'm excited about this next round. See, and this one to me is a this last matchup is a no-brainer. We got a another great spawned by our one seed Rocky. You got Creed versus Southpaw. Yes, yeah, and you know, I was saying Southpaw with Jake Gyllenhaal, Creed, you got Michael B. Jordan. But the music in Creed is very impressive. The music, the filmography, like I think the way that filming of the fights, yeah. The cinematography in Creed and like Michael B. Jordan committing to doing everything practical, actually getting hit. Like they he wanted it to feel real and visceral, and it does. Creed, I think they do a great job with. Yeah, I agree. It's it's an incredible film. I mean, Southpaw, Jake Gionhaul is awesome, and he's a great actor. But I've only seen Southpaw. Yeah, I don't I think that's an easy win for our uh number two seed, Creed. I think so too. I am in agreement there. I've only seen Southpaw once. I'm moving, I'm moving Creed on in that one. Okay, going into round two. We can uh obviously we'll debate the the movies together, but we we won't have to intro them as much. So from that round, we got warrior versus Creed. Benny, you were the champion, you were the warrior for warrior. Yeah. For me, I'm this is where well this is where I was gonna surprise you because as a sleeper, I might go warrior over creed. Now, I I get it, Creed might be the better movie, but hear me out on this. Creed is just baby Rocky, that's what he is. It is baby Rocky, that's fair. It's a rehash, it is a rehash, it's a rehash, and you know, and he's running down the street with the ATVs, you know. Yeah, it it pulls all the same Philly nostalgia from Rocky. They lean into the nostalgia from Rocky, but they have that through line of Rocky has cancer and he's making that battle, and yeah, that's that's good stuff, man. So I guess that's good emotional heart. So I guess you care more about, you know, uncle to nephew to than brothers. That's fine. Zach, if you want to sit here and tell me you care more about an uncle and nephew than an emotional pulled brothers, that's fine. They walked out of the octagon together with beating each other senseless. And who is it? I know the one actor, but is it is it Butler? No, it's not Butler. No, no, not Butler, but um, I'm trying to think he plays Venom. Well, I know Venom. Yeah, yeah. His name's not coming to mind, but I can't think of the uh other brother.

SPEAKER_00

No, let me let me pull it up real quick while while we're here, because now we gotta know.

SPEAKER_01

We guts to know. You're really pulling for the sleeper warrior to go. I mean, I like I it's I mean it's it's it's a fair it's a fair thing. Joel Edgerton plays Brendan Conley. Oh, interesting. And you got his wife. Yeah, he he looks like Butler a little bit. He does have that look to him. But no, I I agree with you.

SPEAKER_00

I think Creed should should move on.

SPEAKER_01

I I I like the little bit of a poll, but Creed, a warrior making it past million dollar baby is sufficient for me. Yeah, and then I mean as we're getting into this, uh I think no matter what, I know who I'm pulling for to win this division, so yeah, I think I think it's gonna be pretty cut and drop. If we go, if we go creed moves on, and then Talladega going against the juggernaut Rocky. I mean, at the end of the day, the Cinderella story goes up against the NIL juggernauts. You're gonna eat lightning and crap thunder rock. You gotta be fast. And uh Ricky Bobby knows if you ain't fast, you're last, and uh Rocky is too fast. Too fast, and I'm giving it to Rocky. I'm giving it to Rocky, I think. Out of this whole group, I've probably watched Rocky the most. 100%, and I will continue to watch Rocky over and over and over. And I particularly have a uh strong I feel like a emotional pull with Rocky too, because it's dad's it's pop's favorite. One of that's favorite movies. If he was here, I think that would be his number one. Yeah, shout out, shout out to Pop, right? I mean, that's that's an absolute no brainer, and and you know, Rock. V Creed. It's aunt versus nephew. It's father versus son type movies. You don't have Creed without Rocky beating his dad up. And so you have got to pay homage, pay your dues to Rocky. And you don't have Creed without Rocky, you know, basically have seeing his dad die. His dad die, not throwing in the towel. Like it creates the entire plot. It's the whole premise. It's the whole setup. Yeah, which is why that really is what it's from. So for me, that's an easy Rocky. Rocky wins for gut and glory. Again. Yo, Adrian.

SPEAKER_02

I did it. I did it. I'm in the final four.

SPEAKER_01

It's so good. It's so good. It really is so good. Cue the Rocky music any day of the week. Okay, that is our first division. Benny, where do you want to go next? You can pick the next ring. Obviously, we're going to finish with football. Do you want to go baseball and nostalgia? Yeah, I think we should go baseball and nostalgia. So we're going to the opposite side of the bracket. So just so everyone knows, the final four matchup will be between baseball and football. So let's go to baseball and nostalgia next, and then we'll go to basketball after that. Okay, baseball and nostalgia coming in hot with actually two movies I really have a place in my heart for with the sandlot and rookie. It's such a good one seed. Good job, ChatGPT, for seating the Sandlot at the top, because that is the when I think baseball, I think Ham. I think Benny the Jet Rodriguez. I think you're killing me, Smalls. Yeah, if you're talking quotability, this might be the number one movie in the whole list. Because, hey, I'm the great bambino.

SPEAKER_02

What? I'm the great bambino.

SPEAKER_01

What? You mean that wimpy deer? The Sultan of SWAT? The Sultan of SWAT. Oh, the oh my god. King of trash. Yeah. So good. And ja. The good stuff. The best. Oh man.

SPEAKER_02

Wendy Prefercorn.

SPEAKER_01

Just oily. Lotiony. Oily.

SPEAKER_02

I can't take it anymore.

SPEAKER_01

So good. The kid's a square. He's an L7 we and also just him saying, like, uh We got ourselves into the biggest pickle. We'd ever seen. Any of us had ever been in the world. The narration style of that where it's like him recounting the and then it's him in the in the box calling Benny the Jet Rodriguez as a dodger. It's I'm baking like a toasted cheeser. It's too hot to play baseball. Yeah. Oh man. It's it's perfect. Like that Sanlaw is so good. I don't even think I like the rookie. I like the premise. Big fan of uh Quaid in that. But Sanlaw is the winner. Like it's easy, easy number one. That's like a like a Michigan destroying Hofstra type type win for me. And Benny, I'm curious. I mean, I'm just gonna say as we get further into this, I'm curious to see how well our one seeds do because so far the one seeds are pulling a lot of my heart. I'll just say that right now. I'm looking at the other brackets, and and I'm not so sure that you know one seeds are gonna make it all the way. And everyone's not on everyone. Yeah, now that I looked at, yeah, now that I look, we'll see. But okay, next, this is the matchup what we had to put in because we didn't know baseball. Um, miracle versus cool runnings. Our two homage to two winter sports. Miracle, obviously, the miracle on ice, the hockey team when the US went on to win gold, beat the USSR. I'm so sick of tired of you and how good the Soviets are at hockey. Oh man, so great. Talk about emotional pull and quotability. That monologue by coach is incredible.

SPEAKER_02

You want me to take your test? I'll take your test. I'll take your test. I want the guy in the goal who won't take the test.

SPEAKER_01

That was actually pretty good. Yeah, hey. You're channeling. I I was feeling that one in my in my soul, and where he's like, I've got my team. No, we we go in there and we deliberate.

SPEAKER_02

You're putting me in a tough spot. No, I know my team. You call me to do a job, I'm gonna do it. Who are you? I'm Michael Ars Ruzioni. Who do you play for?

SPEAKER_03

The United States of America.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it's so good. Uh Miracle is fantastic. Herb, you've got to again.

SPEAKER_02

Herb. Oh, I love it. He comes in. He's like, and what's wrong with you, huh? Herb, I uh my leg. He's like, oh yeah, you've got a bum leg. Yeah, take your pads off, you're out. Oh he's like, You want me to skate? I'll skate on my leg.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it's so good. And we're not even talking about cool runnings, which is also absolutely incredible. Hey, Sunker, you dead men, you dead men.

SPEAKER_02

I see pride, I see power, I see a that don't give about no one. No one. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Oh so good. Those are though this is my least favorite first round matchup because I do love both of these. This matchup the these in separate brackets or separate matchups would go far. I think these both would win almost against anybody else. It's it's pretty tough. And and for me, Eileen Miracle, because for one, let's take into account what just happened this year. Yeah. And Team USA winning for the first time since that movie, and they were taking you know homage from all the players that had won. I mean, her Brooks just oh my gosh, an incredible movie. I love Miracle so good. And I can re-watch Miracle. I obviously love to quote Miracle. It's one that we talk about often in our house. So yeah, Miracle moves on. I love cool runnings that will the Jamaican Bob Sled team will always have a place in my my heart, but absolutely. That that's an impressive one.

SPEAKER_02

How about Tululu? Tululu.

SPEAKER_01

That's the name of my mother.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, Tululu's nice. Tululu's name.

SPEAKER_02

Tululu's nice, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

How about cool runnings? What does it mean? Peace be the journey. Yeah, that's it's a great movie. Sorry, Cool Runnings. You're you could have been a Cinderella story anywhere else, but yeah, cool runnings. That's a tough, tough first-round matchup for you. Yeah, that is that is a tough one. Next up, Field of Dreams versus 42, the story of Jackie Robinson. And uh, Benny, I've seen Field of Dreams once. Yeah, I I'm same, I'm same here. I have seen 42 a couple different times. And let's not forget that Harrison Ford is in 42. Harrison Ford's in 42. The as well as Chadwick Bozeman, Black Panther. May he rest in peace. Wakanda forever. Um 42's a great movie. Not only is it a great true story, but the movie itself is fantastic. I love the Jackie Robinson story. Watching him still and uh, you know, just being an absolute menace out there for the pitchers is so good. It's Harrison Ford is Harris that's a good pull, Benny. Harrison Ford's great in that. He's very good. And and we have this as a as a six seed. Yeah, they seeded it at six, which is not for me. For me personally, yeah. And obviously, all the baseball people are gonna be like, Fill the dreams is great. No, 42. Build it and they will come. Well, we're not coming at fill of dreams. Yeah, out of here. Upset by 42, Jackie Robinson moving forward. Good call, Benny. Yeah, an incredible story. Incredible story there. All right, 27 or 27, 28. I'm reading the freaking Excel sheet as if it's my random my number. Uh, we got Moneyball versus our last minute sub, the play-in, as you will, the bench warmers, the play-in winner. I I do want to preface this real quick because for those that don't know something about me, is my dream career would be to be would be to potentially be a general manager of a team. Okay. Yeah. So Moneyball really pulls scratches that itch. It scratches that itch for me because it is a fantastic movie. Um and if I'm not mistaken, that's uh that's Mr. Brad Pitt, who is in Moneyball. And he also has um oh what's your name that's in Chris Chris Pratt's in there too, isn't he? Yes, Chris Pratt is in that movie, and then also the guy in 21 Jump Street. Jonah Hill. Jonah Hill is in the movie, and he's the he's the guru. But it's like, hey, what do we want our players to do? Get on base. Yeah. Get on base. Get on base. Just money, the peak behind the curtain with Moneyball is fantastic. Yeah, and and and like the you know, the trading of players and the salary. Philip Seymour Hoffman, it's got a stacked, stacked cast. Based on a true story, they I mean it's tough to to beat when it's just these great stories. Um and uh the whole idea of integrating in compute like the analytics, like the computer-based analytics into the world. Yeah, that was there before their time. Like the and now looking at like yeah, the stat monster that is sports management that that's all about your I mean, everything from uh physical care of the players as far as load management and how much time they're spending, uh, what their heart rates are, like their practice stats for their you know, their vital signs, like they take all of that to better put a better product out on the field. And yeah, so if if we're thinking cultural impact, right, sports impact in general, that's that's pretty big. And like that baseball stuff, that's that's huge. So for me, like yes, the quotability of bench warmers and the rewatchability is impressive. Of bench warmers is great. My personal experience is a lot more intense with bench warmers because I love stupid humor, and that one gets me every single time.

SPEAKER_00

It's it gets me too, but but Heather won't even watch that movie with me.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Jane won't either. Like, that is one that if I want to watch it, I'm watching it on my own.

SPEAKER_02

Uh where he's like, I'm gonna go take a leak, and they're like, Yeah, like just the stupidest things.

SPEAKER_01

Nick Swartzen is the albino brother. Jeez. Oh, it's so funny. Uh, but yeah, I do think Moneyball is the right call there, Benny. I'm glad that you came in hot with that debate because I on another day I might have put bench warmers on just because of the love I have.

SPEAKER_00

But I I know I I have to stand up for for Moneyball there. That's uh that's a really good movie.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so that makes it Moneyball vs. 42, two true stories. In fact, this is the nostalgia factor of this bracket is hitting hard because three of our four seeds are well no Sandlot Sanlot's not a is Sandlot a true story too? Because they do the whole like he grew they grew up thing. It's not an actual true story, is it? Um I don't think so. I think it's all just the drama. I don't think Benny's.

SPEAKER_00

No, I think uh I think it is just a drama.

SPEAKER_01

A piece of parasit. They're more they're more than just a team. Yeah, no, it's not a true story. But when they do the whole like they went on to do this as like, is it a true story? But no, Sandlaw is the only fiction, but it's loving the era of 1970s. And it's it's loosely based on the childhood of one of the co-writers. Okay, who grew up in the 1970s. So that's the nostalgia factor is really living up to its name in this particular part of the bracket. But 42 versus Moneyball, Benny. Oh, this is where yeah, this is a really tough one. I think if I'm looking at the criteria, cultural impact, 42. 42. Rewatchability, I think that 42 has a better rewatchability. Yeah. Um, best sports moments, also 42. You've got when you've got uh, you know, his teammate, his white teammate, putting his arm around him. Oh, and the the photographs and him coming up in the leagues and becoming in in the major leagues, it's motional poll too. I just want them to know who I am too. Like and then hey, everybody's gonna know who you are, and now they wear 42. They have Jackie Robinson. Every player, yep, every player wears his number. What are we talking about? It's got it's 42. It's 42. And you know, Moneyball's a great movie, but 42 moves on. That's a that's a tough six seed right there. It is that might be our true like that seeding for Jackie Robinson was absurd. Yeah. So now that makes that leads us to Sandlot vs. Miracle. I think this is absolutely brutal of a choice.

SPEAKER_00

This is a tough one.

SPEAKER_01

But if we go through that same conversation, rewatchability, although Sandlaw is fantastic and I love watching it with my kids. If it's just me sitting down to watch a sports movie, I'm watching Miracle. I agree. I would rather watch Miracle myself and the emotional pull, the cultural impact. Like, I I think I'm going miracle over Sandlot with uh an upset here, dude. I I think I am too. You you take it back to us beating the Soviets, and um when they're when they have the Christmas party, they gift him the whistle, you know, like it's I just freaking love when USA wins, you know what I mean? I do too. So good. Sandlot is incredible, but I I I'd lean Miracle here as well. Oh, I did not see when I when we previewed Sandlot and talked through it, I did not think my heart was gonna sway that way, but it changed quit. See, that's why talking through all the movies is so important. Okay, a brutal finish final matchup here. Miracle versus 42. Two incredible true stories. So we've got the first impact. Yeah, this is the four-seed versus six seed. Major, major uh flip up on this bracket for the seeding. Yeah. And Benny, I'm just gonna say, I think I'm going 42. I think I I think I love Miracle more as just like the the movie gets me just so hyped up. But 42 I think has the higher emotional impact. I think it has the the better bigger cultural impact as far as the story that it's talking about. I think I'm leaning 42. Yeah. I don't know. It's tough. I you don't want to do it. I don't know, because if I'm thinking like rewatchability and like which one I would rather put on. Yeah, I mean I'm gonna I'm gonna watch Miracle. No, that's true. I I am gonna probably watch Miracle. It does, it does lean heavy and it is quotable. I think Harrison Ford's fantastic. I I'm good with 42. I think I think that's a rightful final four. I love that Miracle almost upset the baseball bracket, but I do see I know that that plays a factor in it too. Yeah, I do think 42 should be the rightful winner of that division. Okay, moving right into the hardwood and heart. Benny, I'm loving this so far. Starting out, we have Hoosiers vs. Air. And I'll just kick this one off because I know you know these movies better than me. This may be recency bias, but I watched Air much more recently than I've watched Hoosiers, and I love that. The peak behind getting the deal done with Jordan. Don't don't go the way you're going right now. No, I I don't want to hear you say that eight is gonna upset one. It's not happening. No, air's, yeah, air's cool. Yeah, great. Air's a cool movie. Guess what? No, no, ain't happening. Hoosier's is iconic.

SPEAKER_02

Who, who, who, who's yours?

SPEAKER_01

It is where he literally just played four players because he he needed to prove a point. No, yeah, you're right. You're right. I haven't watched Hoosier's in forever. But Hoosier's You are right.

SPEAKER_00

Hoosier's like, I'm not gonna let you have this one be an upset.

SPEAKER_01

No, you shouldn't, because it is it should be Hoosier's. That's why I say this is recency bias for me because I I probably have not watched Hoosier's since I lived at home. And and Air is a great movie. That's the thing. Yeah, Air is a great movie. It is really cool. I've seen it one time. Michael Michael Jordan, I mean, great, great story, but it is kind of an auxiliary movie to basketball. Yes, like for me, it's like no rewatchability. Like, I've watched Hoosier's multiple. And Hoosier's just talking about it, it's like, man, I need to re-watch Hoosers. Yeah. Hickory. Especially because Indiana is just absolutely exploding right now. And then guess what? Five passes before you shoot the ball. Count them out. It's it's fundamental. Hoosers, Hoosier's is the right one. Yeah, that's that's a good one. Hoosers is the right one. Yeah, for me. This next one, kind of a goofy matchup. McFarland USA versus Happy Gilmore. McFarlane USA, obviously, the uh another based on a true story of McFarland High School coach comes in and lifts up their cross-country uh running team with the kids that are obviously underprivileged minorities that work the fields in the morning with their parents and then run to school, and he turns them into these incredible uh yeah. Well, he doesn't turn them, he enables them to use their gifts to to be great in sport. Great heart, right? Some great heart-filled moments in that. Um, and then Happy Gilmore, our goat, the Sandman. The Sandman. I mean, the really the inspiration, the Sandman himself, the inspiration for a lot of this show. H2O. Yeah, so it's like we'll get to it, but Bobby Boucher does not make the football bracket. No, because the football bracket's stacked. I mean Yeah, it's stacked. Um But for I have to go Happy Gilmore here. The rewatchability, cultural, quotability, the hockey player turned golfer.

SPEAKER_02

Why won't you go into your home?

SPEAKER_01

It's all in the hits. It's all in the hits. Hey, it's all in the ball creed, and another win. Um just yeah, just uh the very funny movie. Go to your happy place dream sequences that are just absolutely unhinged. I can get you uh Ben Stiller again coming in hot with a great performance in a sports movie. Um, I can get you a warm glass of shut the hell up. It's so funny. His poor grandma just wants a warm glass of milk. Yeah, she's she just wants some milk before bed, Ben. The box out with Bob Barker. I mean Oh, and them fighting. Yeah, that's that's incredible. Iconic. Happy Gilmore. Welcome to the next round. Now we get to the the fun side of the bracket. You already spoiled this a little bit. Glory Road versus Space Jam. Yeah. A three versus six seed, and I'm gonna be completely on this might be a hot dance. It's a Space Jam. Come on. I did I did say this earlier about, you know, Glory Road being my favorite movie. So, yes, it is gonna move on.

SPEAKER_00

Let's just get that out of the way.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there wasn't any hot my hot take is I don't think Space Jam is all that great. I don't think it's I don't think it's the jam. I'm not a huge Looney Tunes guy. I'm not either. That's why I I don't care for it. Yeah. And I don't think Michael Jordan's a great actor. So I mean, no, he definitely wasn't in there for his acting chops. Charles Barkley, I think, is one of the monsters. Right? Patrick Ewing, Muggs and Bugs. Pat Ewing's in there. So great, great legends are in that movie, but at the end of the day, Bugs and Michael J are going home. But I hope I hope I want everyone to know on this podcast that I wrote a story in eighth grade about the Glory Road and the actual team themselves. So I wrote about Texas Western and starting the first school to ever start five black players in an NCAA game. I will let everyone know that they beat Kentucky in the championship, beating Adolph Rupp, who was one of the best coaches in Kentucky history. And then he had only white players on his team. Pat Riley being one of them, who is iconic. He's won championships with the Lakers with Miami. He is unbelievable. Glory Road is great. Don Hastings, I can go on and on about talk about the emotional pull too, like the just the absolute abuse and battle that they go through traveling on the road for their games. The emotional pull of this one, it gets me and then when she says, Oh, I know more about his heart condition than anyone. Just let him play. Willie Cager, just let him play. Is Glory Road it it may not be this? Is Glory Road the one where it's like, my son, Harry can? Yeah, yeah. She comes around because she's in class with him and she's like, My son, Harry Can. Because he has Harry's Lenori. He's like, I'm from Gary, Indiana. I don't know anything about rocks. And then is that also the this has some great quotes. Is it also the uh cafeteria? No, I'm looking for hot dog. I want a hot dog. Shout out, shout out Grandpa Brooks, where it's like Nacho, burrito, burrito, taco, burrito, I want a hot dog hot dog. Oh, so good. Yeah, that's let's get him some hot dogs. They say it to him later as he's asleep in the hall. Not only is it absolutely fantastic, but great comedy in that movie. There's some good good quotes. It's like, wait, they call him Big Daddy? Why the what?

SPEAKER_02

Well, he might be Big Daddy, but I'm little daddy.

SPEAKER_01

Uh so good. Okay, Glory Roland is no brainer.

SPEAKER_02

What you talking about? I accepted it. I'll play for you.

SPEAKER_01

Gosh, the best. So good. Yeah, like you said, basically your favorite movie of all time.

SPEAKER_00

So I don't see color, I see speed, I see talent, and that's what you got.

SPEAKER_01

I love it. Yeah. Anyway, glared road. And uh yeah, I don't hate your take on Space Jam at all. I think you're cooking with that. I think that's uh I'm kind of in the same boat. In fact, I probably would have ranked Space Jam lower.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think Space Jam, but you could probably could have switched Space Jam with air, wouldn't have made any difference, neither one of them getting past the first round.

SPEAKER_01

But no, they're going home regardless. Okay, last uh first round of the basketball bracket, Coach Carter uh versus Airbud, which the basketball air bud. The basketball, yeah, very specific. The first air bud. Yeah. Which that is just pulling on childhood there. That's childhood. Pudding cups. We both have dogs now, so it's like it's fun to put it in there, but absolutely loved Airbud as a kid. But Coach Carter is such a good movie. Yeah, I'm not gonna be crazy here and pull an upset for Airbud, not doing that. Especially because I re-watched Airbud recently with uh Drew, and it's like, oh, I do not enjoy the bad guy in this at all. Yeah, not that clown, he can he can go sit alone if for all I care. I do not way he treats Airbud. But yeah, Coach Carter. I've only honestly I've only seen Coach Carter one time. Really?

SPEAKER_00

So that's one that I can rewatch quite a bit.

SPEAKER_01

I need I need to revisit Coach Carter because I mean that's that's one that I mean you got Samuel L. Jackson coming in. Yep, Samuel L. Jackson, you have uh um what is his name?

SPEAKER_00

Why am I blanking on him? He's in 21 Jump Street 2, but he's the the other guy.

SPEAKER_01

Not Jonah Hill, but oh uh Channing Tatum. Channing Tatum's in here. Channing Tatum is in that movie. Really? Oh, yep, right there. Jason. I don't remember that at all.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's like the one white boy on the team that that's right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, with all the other players, that's right, all the other players. It's funny. And you got Rick Gonzalez, which I feel like he really made his rounds in those movies. Like I feel like he was in in a lot of sports movies through that time. Yeah, because he's in old school Coach Carter. Anyway. Um, yeah, Coach Carter deserves to go through. Samuel Jackson is a legend. We'll we'll move that forward. Okay, next uh Hoosier's Happy Gilmore into our second round here, Ben. Yeah, I I think this one is actually pretty easy. I'm going Happy Gilmore over Hoosers. I just think Hoosers is. I love that. I didn't think you were gonna let me, I don't think you were gonna let me do it, but I I definitely will pull for my guy uh happy to get through. Well if he's not gonna win at all. That's the thing, is I think it's pretty easy because I'm gonna pick Glory Road over Coach Carter. Glory Road versus Coach Carter is appropriate and Gilmore. Benny, I'm not even gonna fight you on it because I think that is a losing battle. Who am I to tell you that Happy Gilmore should be in over Glory Road? Yeah, I'm just gonna let you know, like we are leaning. I mean, obviously Rocky made it in the fight bracket, but 42. Now we've got Glory Road, we're leaning true stories like that cultural impact, the rewatchability. And that matters. Now we're to the stacked bracket of stacked brackets. Our football legends, and that is the only way that this can be described. We're gonna get right into our one seed versus eight seed. Remember the Titans versus the longest yard. Maybe two of the most quotable movies in this entire competition. Yes, uh, absolute greats. Another Sandman, so Adam Sandler does make an appearance here because this is this longest yard reboot, not the OD. The reboot. Yep, the reboot. San Sandler and Chris Rock. Um great quote. I know I shouldn't have eaten that popcorn.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Hey, who are we gonna beat? The guards, who we gonna fight? The guards, who are we gonna kiss? The guards, the guards, gotcha.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man, that is so good. He broke in my nose. If if you help me make this kick, I promise to stop cheating on my wife with black guys. Puts him in there to actually just buff the kick on purpose. Uh it's so good. So what's funny is well, like, I love the longest yard in this bracket is one of the ones I've seen the most. And right alongside Remember the Titans. Remember the Titans is probably the most, the one I've watched the very most is Remember the Titans. But I will tell you that when I'm watching Remember the Titans, and he says, Can't you see Alice? That's my brother. That's my brother. And he puts up his fist. I cry. I still, and I've seen it a hundred times, and I still cry at that part. It's incredible. We have quoted Remember the Titans multiple times on our podcast because it is just so good. Attitude reflects leadership, leadership, captain. Oh, so good. Team? What team? Team! You think I'm gonna sacrifice for the team?

SPEAKER_02

And then you got uh how many feet are in a mile, PD. Sunshine. I want you to pick up that ball and run every one of them. You're killing me.

SPEAKER_01

If you drop the ball, you run a mile. And if you get blood on my uniform, you better not get any blood on my uniform. What is pain? Fresh bread, fresh bread. And then I'm gonna break my foot into your John Brown hind parts. My favorite is when he says, Welcome to my life, Yoast. Yeah, it's so good. And then you the uh blitz all on night. I don't want him to gain another yard. And then he goes and points at the coach, sunshine running down the field. This is gonna be some of the best moments, and I know it's a little fabricated, I know that that comes back a little bit. It's like it is a little bit uh romanticized for the sake of story, but boy, does it get me hyped up. I love Run of the Titans. Okay, Rev, you ready to run? Yes, sir. I want you to run a 42, you know, the or whatever. And then he's like, with a backside Georgia verse. I was gonna be so impressed if you knew the whole I know. I was I know it's I know that it's a backside. It's a 42 split, backside Georgia verse. It's there's a 42 split, I think. Yeah. It's it's so good. Denzel Washington. I mean, that one's hard to beat. That's the best one. It's it's so good. So that one, that one's a longest yard is so good. Though oh, it has some of the best freaking Terry Jones with the cheeseburgers. Terry Cruz. Terry Cruz, not Terry Jones, Terry Cruz. Oh, it's so good. All right. Next up, the blind side and we are martial. This is a tough one. This is a tough one in the eyes of America, though. Yes. So the blind side in you know in ESPN or the world's terms is like the best sports movie since the year 2000, which I don't agree with. But uh the the thing I'll say about this is I feel like a lot came out that it was a bad deal. Like, didn't he come out and say that it was like he's like he hated how they portrayed him in the movie and like you know, didn't like the whole story, yeah. And like they've had a falling out, so I feel like that blemishes for me a little bit. I love Sandra Bullock, I think the performances in that show, him protecting the little brother um in the car crash and uh him being a guardian. Like I absolutely love that, but I do feel like it's had kind of a falling out as time has passed. Yeah. To where uh We Are Marshall that I've only seen maybe once or twice. But Matthew McConaughey, yeah, probably gonna win for me on this one, Ben. I think so too. I like Matthew McConaughey and this performance and the story, and the story behind him making that film and like asking permission of the people, like, hey, you know, are we able to do this? Like, very um, you know, impactful, like a whole plane going down and people dying in the plane. I mean, it again, that one is heart-wrenching, it's very heavy. Uh, but yeah, I do think I'm gonna have we are marshall move forward. I agree. I I lean I lean that one as well. I think that's a good call. Okay, 3-6 Rudy versus Invincible. I mean Vince Popoly versus the Irish, the fighting Irish. I think we might differ on this one. But I think we do differ on this one because I I'm gonna pull for my man Vince Papaly because I'm a birds fan. If I got my sense so so you don't like my son then, basically. Oh, I love my dude Rudy. But I know for sure that that is not the reason why you named him Rudy. After Rudy Rudim, what is it, Rudimberg? No, Rudy Rudiger. Show some respect. Show some damn respect for the movie Rudy. Rudy Rudeman? What did you say? My god. I said Rudeberg. Oh, Rudeberg. It's close. I was close. I was close. It's close, but it's got a young Vince Vaughn in it. I mean, it has it's got Sam Wise Gamge. If you ask anybody about that story who's actually on the team, though, like it, they do not feel that's another one that's been very much so dramatized in a great way. I mean, Rudy is so honestly, like, Invincible is really cool. Mark Wahlberg, Vince Papali. Like, that is a sweet story. Plus, if let's say street level guy coming in and an open practice, like we're talking come sit on the bench with the Water Bros. Vince Papali. He's he's the epitome, but he was like actually legit, you know. Like he went and got time on the field, and it's just a really cool from streets to to the grid story. Yeah, which I love.

SPEAKER_00

I do think we should put invincible forward.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you. I appreciate that. I didn't think you were on the birds. I didn't I didn't think you were gonna let me do that, but I appreciate the the way. I can see it and I I can agree with it. Yeah. Rudy. We're gonna stick them, we're gonna run them, yeah. I don't know that monologue, but I do love that scene. Yeah, it's pretty, it's pretty good. You know what would be a good would have been a good little football adjacent movie to throw in here? And maybe I'm misremembering. Radio is a football movie. Yeah, radio is a movie, he's a ball boy. Yeah, radio would have been a good one. That's another heart foot. That is that is a heart movie.

SPEAKER_00

That's a heart wrencher, definitely.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Last Friday Night Lights versus the Little Giants. This is another interesting one because Friday Night Lights, I think, in the zeitgeist, the pop culture world is probably up there in people's top two or three football movies ever. I've only seen the movie once. I've watched the TV show Friday Night Lights, and I love that. I think the movie is great. And movie Miles, Permian. Yeah. And I think The Little Giants obviously is another just little nostalgia pole. Little League team. Intimidation. Uh just a funny, goofy, good time movie from the 90s. Uh, but it's gotta be Friday Night Lights, and that's one that I need to also go back and watch again because it has been way too long.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I just watched it recently, and I think I haven't seen the Little Giants since you know I was a I was a kid, so I feel like that one, yeah, that one's pretty easy for me to say Friday Night Lights. I like that one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean it's that's one I need to revisit for sure. But the TV show uh Friday Night Lights is also absolutely fantastic. I love that. Yeah, agreed. Uh okay, Friday Night Lights. So coming down, we got Invincible versus Friday Night Lights. Benny, which way are you going? I think, you know, I think this one is tougher than it may seem, but I would lean Friday Night Lights in this matchup. I think this would be a one-two. Yeah, I think I'll I will go that way on Friday Night Lights. Again, obviously, I love the birds, but Friday Night Lights, especially the nostalgia of high school football. Like I those the days, I mean, we didn't have a good football team, even, right? Like when I was in high school. But there is something magical about Friday Night Lights.

SPEAKER_00

It it really is.

SPEAKER_01

When it comes to football moments, there is something so good about that. So uh we'll definitely I think Friday Night Lights, the movie, captures that uh feeling and that vibe very well. And we're gonna have two. There's not a lot of good NFL movies, is what I'm learning. It really is about the Friday Night Lights because remember the Titans 100% is going over We Are Marshall in my book. Yes, 100%. It's not even a debate. And two high school football movies are making it into the Elite Eight. Um, where that's a tough matchup where you've got Julius, remember the Titans, Denzel Washington going up against Friday Night Lights, but this one seed is the one seed of all one seeds. Of all one seeds. And I think the reason almost exclusively for that is because one, it's got the heart, it's got the story, it's got the the football moments, but it is just quotable as quotable gets. It's such a fun, stinking cast. Okay, we're down to the final four. We have Remember the Titans coming in from football, going up against 42 Jackie Robinson, Glory Road versus Rocky. Ben, these are gonna be extremely tough to pick because Glory Road is one of your favorite movies, Rocky is one of my all-time favorite movies. That I think is the battle at hand to get into our final two. Yeah, that that one definitely is the battle because if we're looking at the other two, it might be a little bit easier.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, I think if I'm taking, you know, my I guess love of Glory Road off the table, and I'm just looking at the criteria rewatchability, the best sports moments of the fight, emotional poll.

SPEAKER_01

I would give emotional poll to Glory Road personally. See, and it this is where I was gonna come in. I was I was sitting there because uh I mean we had to do a quick little pause to get a little charge boost on phones, and I was just thinking, as I what is the pitch I'm gonna make for Rocky to get Rocky in at the final? And I think what is so great about Rocky is although he's a fictional character, right? It's the only movie in this that is not based off of a true person. I think what is so great about Rocky is it captures the true essence of a city, the personality, the true essence of an underdog. Like it has become Philadelphia. There's a the Rocky statue still there, Rocky's everywhere. The Philadelphia Eagles montage before they start a game is cut to Rocky. There are teams in view sports all over the world that they or maybe not the world, but across the US, that inevitably will have Eye of the Tiger played for them. Uh myself as the score of Rocky is iconic. It has transcended, like of all these movies, I think it sits above just because not only does it have those great sports moments, but it is just an incredible movie that has become integral to the lifeblood of of a whole city and to sport culture. Like anywhere you go, you're gonna hear Eye of the Tiger. You're gonna it's gonna be something that is thrown out there because it's just that iconic. Yeah, I I think it's it is a very tough one to beat. And when you look at when you look at Rocky, there is this guy who, Max Kellerman, who was on ESPN for a long time, he's a boxing commentator, it's his favorite sport. He said, Okay, let's say he's like, I'm gonna tell you all why boxing is everyone's favorite sport. Let's say on one corner you have kids throwing a football and they're playing football.

SPEAKER_00

You have the other kids playing a pickup basketball game, and then on the third corner, they're playing a baseball game, they're throwing the ball around, maybe hitting the ball. Then on the fourth one, there's a fight.

SPEAKER_01

Where's the crowd at? Hey, there you go. They're at the fight. It's the innate nature of that we want to watch, you know, the the will of you know, two people fighting. And like, yeah, I think I think Rocky ends up winning this matchup. Well, Benny, I uh couldn't be more excited to hear you say that. And then not to say Glory Road isn't incredible, also an underdog story of people fighting for their rights. That's an extremely important, culturally impactful and significant moment in history. Um, but I think Rocky has done something really special as a movie and how it kind of is relatable across the board. Like I think it just is it connects with everybody because it's a sports movie, but it's not always presented as that, you know what I mean.

SPEAKER_00

But I don't know how many people would be able to tell you that the movie Glory Road is about Texas Western. I don't know how many people would be able to tell you Don Hastings' name. Everyone would be able to tell you everyone knows and Rocky.

SPEAKER_01

Everyone knows how Rocky Balboa is.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's universal, which is unfortunate because the story of Glory Road is incredible, but yes, that is that is a valid winner.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, so Rocky moves on to Final Two. Benny, remember the Titans versus 42 Jackie Robinson. I do not want to dismiss or disrespect Jackie Robinson at all from the significant seat polls, but from a movie standpoint, remember the Titans is who I'm riding with every day. Oh, for me too. I think this one, yeah, it's a lot easier from a movie perspective, plus taking the whole football versus baseball aspect into it.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, much more so for itself.

SPEAKER_01

Again, we we talked about it. The Friday night lights, the the dynamics of the the racial inequities and disparities that are displayed in the movie. Again, I get that it's not historically accurate to how it actually went down. But I love the cinematic aspect, yeah. I love how they present. But that's why, you know, when I mean just framing up the top two, our criteria is tailor-made for Remember the Titans. It is one of the best for cultural impact because it talks about the exact same things that Glory Road talked about and that Jackie Robinson talked about. Rewatchability. We have seen that more than almost any others. Same with Rocky, right? So they're right, they're both there. Best sports moments. We mentioned the moments in that movie of the plays that they make that are fictional, but they're plays that they made that we love watching. Oh, it's so good. Again, it captures the Friday night football. So good. The emotional pull, you know, the emotional pull of them going through the season. You have the coaches' dynamic, you have the players' dynamic, um, you know, the racial dynamic, the how they all came together, and everyone at the very end comes together in quotability. I can quote Remember the Titans over and over and over again, but I can't quote Rocky as much. No, and uh I can't. You I know you've as you say, but I will say that I think there's a lot more uh easy to pull from quotes in Remember the Titans. Like I think there's a lot more levity, there's a lot more comedy. Uh Rocky is more tr a true sports drama, right? Like it is at its essence a pretty like a guy down on his luck who's turned to basically hustling people to make a dollar, and yeah, you know, like it is it is a gritty movie, like for grit and glory, it is it is that like that is Rocky 100%. And I I will say this though. If we're yes, grit and glory, it's great to come out of the bracket, you know, in that section. If we're talking about a sports movie bracket, I do think a true based on a true story has precedent over a fictional character, although the impact that he has made but is substantial. Yeah, in a story. And and I agree, and I think as much as I love Rocky, I I will not lose sleep over Remember the Titans winning through. I think we might get crap for that as being our winner just because it's not historically accurate to 100% this story, but if it's not like I'm okay with it. But what movie is 100% accurate? It's just such a cool it it's it displays what we want to be, it displays what sports does, and that's bring people together. And when we started this podcast, that is exactly what we said we love about sports is that it does bring people together, it's it's a common ground. And uh Remember the Titans makes me cry every single time.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Without Phil, Rocky's called. I will cry. Rocky doesn't make me cry. Rocky hits me in the heart, like I like it, it's still emotional, but I I will cry every single time with the whole Gary Bertir. You already said it was like, can't you tell that's my brother? Like everything about that gets me right in the fills, and so Benny, I think for our sports bracket, for our national championship, it is gonna go to remember the Titans. Make them remember the night they played the Titans. We want to make them remember forever the night they played the Titans. Remember the Titans is our champion. That is it for the bracket, dude.

SPEAKER_00

Coach, that took a strong poll. You just lost yourself the Hall of Fame. Hey, coach, your Hall of Fame in my book.

SPEAKER_02

Your Hall of Fame in my book, Coach.

SPEAKER_01

I always play for you, coach. But they don't. They play for they end up playing for Gainsville, Washington. Coach Boone.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. That's so bad.

SPEAKER_01

If you need Mick Comb in the matter, no matter where you are, no matter how talk about score. I great music. That that music too. I used to fall asleep to that at my wedding. I used to fall asleep to Remember Titans uh CD to my Walkman as a kid because that's an easy winner. Good. Yeah. It's great movie. Benny, that was an absolute blast. Remember the Titans is a great movie. There are a handful of movies that we've talked about that I'm gonna re-watch over the next couple weeks because now I got an itch to watch them. Yeah, me too. I'm ready to go throw one on right now. It was so stinking fun. Let us know what movies got snubbed, what movies did we get wrong, what ones should have been included that weren't? Because I know that there's a lot of movies out there that weren't on the list that probably could be on the list. Um, but if you have listened maybe, you know, should have made it further. Let us know. Or maybe, yeah. Let us know what picks we got wrong. Um, but Benny, what do we tell the people? Hey everybody, stay hydrated. Stay hydrated. Like, comment, interview. We appreciate you. Adios. Adios.
