SPEAKER_05Get them drinks ready.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, get them drinks ready. You know what it is. The Ritz WB drinking game is in full effect. This is your main man, Rome Enterprise. Thank y'all for coming back to the show. Give it up for y'all. What up? What up? It's been a couple weeks, Boozy. We back. I know they miss us. Y'all miss us. I know y'all do. We could tell. We can tell by the love we get. You know what I'm saying? I want to introduce my lovely, beautiful, rosy red co-host, Ashley Booze. Give it up for Boozy. Come on, Boozy. That's me, yeah. Let them know what's happening. So we got a lot uh to catch up on, I think, huh?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we've been gone. This is this will be uh what three week hiatus. We took off the last two weeks.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we didn't tell y'all we was taking off either. We just started, we just didn't.
SPEAKER_05That's life happened. Jazz fest happened, work happened. So, you know, things like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, life getting the way, you know, of your dreams. But we ain't gonna let it get too too in the way of what we're doing. We're gonna keep it live, keep it funky for y'all, give it up for y'all for coming back and fuck with Rome in the streets with booze. You already know. I gotta say it like this it's Rome in the streets.
SPEAKER_05Whip boo!
SPEAKER_00With boozy. Yeah, you already know. Thank y'all again for listening. Thank y'all for coming back and checking out what we got going. We had a yacht, a nice yacht adventure. Uh, if you missed that episode, please uh check the last one out.
SPEAKER_05Happy early birthday to our girl Aaron, too.
SPEAKER_00Happy birthday is next Monday.
SPEAKER_05So happy early birthday, Aaron.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes, happy birthday to everybody celebrating a birthday in May. If it's your birthday, happy birthday to y'all. So many birthdays in May. Yeah, a lot of birthdays in May.
SPEAKER_05So our little brother was uh he's Cinco de Mayo, and the craziest thing was for the first like part of his career, he was a border patrol agent. I was like, what the hell are the odds that you're you're a border patrol agent with a Cinco de Mayo birthday? It's like that just doesn't sound right. He's no longer he's no longer border border patrol.
SPEAKER_00So that's funny. It's ironic, huh? You know, just ironically. Um anyway, how was your how was your your two weeks off? What did you what were you up to?
SPEAKER_05It was kind of the last couple weeks. I mean, I would say it was like super stressful, but I mean it's everything's always kind of stressful. Um insurance work's been a little bit low, but with Jazz Fest and prepping for Jazz Fest and helping everybody we can. Uh you know, it's just it's a lot. I got called in.
SPEAKER_00Um driving safe and unless it accidents and I don't know what's going on.
SPEAKER_05I don't know why it's really, really dead right now. I didn't reach it out to um some of my you know counterparts to see like, can y'all feed me more work? I was like, I'm getting hungry down here, you know what I mean? Feed me. Um it's dead everywhere other than hail storms. I was like, well that doesn't make no damn sense to me because I see a bunch of ignorant idiots on the road all day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, driving like I saw on the way here, there was a lady doing like 15 miles an hour down Broad. Broad Avenue. If y'all know Broad Avenue, that's not the street to go 15 miles an hour down. Somebody's gonna run into you. And Broad has a lot of accidents, so you gotta, you know, be careful. I don't know what she was doing. I don't know what she was doing.
SPEAKER_05She has no idea what she was doing.
SPEAKER_00I was like, she was 10 and 2 on the steering wheel though.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Much older lady, I'm like, uh, at what point do we cut off the driving? Like, what do you do? You know, I should be an age.
SPEAKER_05At a certain age, you have to have um, you know, you gotta redo your eye test, you gotta redo the the maybe the laws portion of it so you actually know because laws change, you know what I mean? And not dramatically, obviously, but like shit from sixty years ago ain't shit how it goes today. You know what I mean? People don't understand how a traffic circle works. People don't understand the zipper method for merging into traffic. That's uh that's it, yeah.
SPEAKER_00The roundabouts, why is that so difficult for people to grasp? I can I can sit in that roundabout and I can go in a circle as many times as I want, and I I have the right away 100% of that. 100%. I don't care if I go around 30 times. I have the right of way if I'm in that circle.
SPEAKER_05It's funny you say that.
SPEAKER_00You have to yield. Everybody else got a way for me to quit going in circles. Yeah, I have the right of way. And people don't understand that's how it works. You just wait your turn and then you go. You don't get to the roundabout and just go and stop. Or you can't be in a circle and stop to the person that's yielding.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So quick lesson for y'all.
SPEAKER_05If anybody wondering uh how how you're taking a left across traffic and a median space, you go to the right side of it, not the left side of it. Like people just like don't understand.
SPEAKER_00So you think we need to do a re so they should be a refresher every now and then?
SPEAKER_05Yes.
SPEAKER_00That'll be a pain in the ass. For people that know how to drive, it's like uh do it every 20 years.
SPEAKER_05Every 20 years? I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Well, it's for all of them.
SPEAKER_05I mean, give them a fucking 20 second 20 question quest. A quick 20 minutes.
SPEAKER_0020 question quests.
SPEAKER_05Test.
SPEAKER_00All right. Time to roll the music now. Time to roll a music. We got the tongue twisters in the building.
SPEAKER_05It's all light, man.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Looks like it's gonna rain. I think it's gonna rain today and tomorrow.
SPEAKER_00Shout out to the last shout out to the rain. Come on now.
SPEAKER_05I'm here for it. I like the rain. Um, yeah. I think this is our last like two or so cool days for the year until it's really nice out right now.
SPEAKER_00If you're not in New Orleans, Louisiana, it's really nice out. I wish I was uh uh here for the weather. It's very cloudy. It looked like it's gonna rain at any moment, but it looked like that for three days, so we love it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it'll be a rainy Mother's Day, it looks like, but hopefully it'll hold off enough for if you're doing your last, you know, your last boils of the season or anything like that. You'd hopefully get some nice weather, some barbecueing.
SPEAKER_00Come on, Mother's Day coming up. Give it up to all the mothers. Shout out to all the mothers.
SPEAKER_05Get your mama something nice, some flowers, a a well-written card. Tell her you love her.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, tell her how much you love her and appreciate her.
SPEAKER_05Right. She didn't earth you.
SPEAKER_00And if and if your mom is not here for you to tell her that, man, just uh just just you know what I mean? Send up a prayer to your mom or whatever you do to contact to contact your ancestors and let them know you love them, you still uh appreciate everything they've done for you.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I gotta work Mother's Day this year, so um I I actually have been doing this for the past few years that I've worked. I think I've worked probably four of the past five Mother's Day. And I always go to like Trader Joe's or or Whole Foods or something like that, and just pick up a bunch of really pretty flowers, a couple bouquets, like $50-60 worth of flowers, and I give them to every single lady that comes into the bar on Mother's Day. So everybody feels a little special on Mother's Day.
SPEAKER_00Oh, look at Chuco. And you know what?
SPEAKER_05That that $50-60 comes back to me.
SPEAKER_00Tenfold, tenfold every time. Come on. Yep, we appreciate y'all though. Happy Mother's Day once again to all the moms and uh all the listeners that tune in to Rome and all you motherfuckers. Yeah. It's all good. We appreciate y'all. That is our little theme music. We love that song. Um, give it up for us. Yeah, it is lightning outside. Yeah, and I hope we don't lose power during this pod. I know that'd be weird, huh? Um y'all uh y'all uh the thundercrack. Oh, this is the thundercrack.
SPEAKER_05Now we need the little Garth Brooks, the thunder rolls in the background.
SPEAKER_06Hey, man. Oh man.
SPEAKER_05But yeah, we're we're we're about to hit the doldrums of of summer here in New Orleans. You know, there's not too many things going on kind of for the summer. This is this is our kind of laid back time of the year. Yeah. Where it's it's it's slower in all the restaurants, it's slower in all the bars and everything like that. And slow in insurance claims, it's slow everywhere, so everybody's going on their vacations and you know, kids are out of school, so thank God there's no more school zones for the next two months.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, hopefully. They still may take your picture though. They like taking your picture when you pass by. I don't know what that's about.
SPEAKER_05They only do it in school zones now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's only because they know that's where they can get you, and it's like, nope, it's 20 miles an hour and it's posted, and you will go in 25, so you get a ticket.
SPEAKER_05Yep.
SPEAKER_00But no, you weren't speeding, but you go in you're speeding in the school zone.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I think they knocked them out for all the red lights. So there's no more red light cameras, but only school zone. But if there's a red light in a school zone, they can do that one. So like it's kind of stupid, but I mean I I get it, it is what it is. But that's one of the reasons why with my insurance business, I don't ever leave the house before 9 a.m.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I'm not hitting those morning school zones.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I it and I try to miss it in the morning, but on the way home, I do run into it every every day.
SPEAKER_05It just depends on how late I am, how far away.
SPEAKER_00You get enough of those tickets, you get enough of those tickets, you know where the speed light cameras are. Come on, give it up for all of the speed light camera ticket getters.
SPEAKER_05Our buddy Julian, man, he he would get so many bringing his daughter to school every morning. Close, actually, kind of close to where I am, but uh, I think he was getting them right on uh MLK, right there close to um Playbourne. Right um and uh I think that's where he said he would get them because he's gonna be able to get the biggest thing. Yeah, there's a school right there because broad is right there. Oh god, it sucks.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, uh they everywhere they'll be able to do it.
SPEAKER_05So we got I found him and I the plate, the um the coverings for the license plates. He was still getting I was like, How are you? He was still getting it. Yeah, and then somebody ripped mine off of my car at the bar. I saw pieces of it on the ground shattered. I was like, man, that's some bullshit.
SPEAKER_00Man, fuck them tickets. I haven't gotten one though in a long time, so I got pissed because I was getting 23 and a 20, and I'm like, fuck y'all, come on, man. 23 miles and a 20. It should be calibrated five miles. If I was doing 25, then 25 and over rate. Yeah, 25 and over 23. Come on, man.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and also because there's variations in your odometers, right? Like, like your odometer says you're going 25, but you might actually be going 23.
SPEAKER_06Right.
SPEAKER_05Or vice versa. You know what I mean? I and then the reason I know that is because I drive a lot and there's a lot of those kind of radar things like on the causeway and shit like that. So when I'm on the causeway, my speedometer is set at 69.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you know, because it's and you set that cruise control, use that cruise control, and that shit worked.
SPEAKER_05And every time I pass the radar, it says I'm going 67. So I'm like, okay.
SPEAKER_00So they calibrated a little bit under, you think, just for the readout, but it's probably. I wonder if they ever act, yeah. You don't know how that shit is calibrated. It pisses me off though. Anyway, let's move on to something more happier because uh something a little less random.
SPEAKER_05Something a little less random.
SPEAKER_00I know y'all ain't paying y'all tickets either.
SPEAKER_05Um, so we talked about Jasper a quick second. We led up to it a lot over the past few weeks. Um, I did not go. I I know that sounds kind of lame.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because I know you wanted to see uh I really wanted to see Stevie um Stevie.
SPEAKER_05You know what? I'm just gonna I've seen Stevie. I saw her a couple years ago, about three or four years ago or two, three years ago. And uh amazing, absolutely amazing show at uh Yeah, you were saying that last time.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely amazing. You love those shows.
SPEAKER_05But um I didn't get out there either. I saw the pictures, I was like, ah man, and everybody was like, it was magical because you know she's singing and all of a sudden it starts raining, and I can't remember what song she was singing when it was raining, but like every video I saw was like, you know, a daughter with her mom, and they're just like crying, singing Stevie in the rain, and like everybody was like, It was just so magical, it was beautiful, it was amazing. And I was like, ah, god damn it, I love Stevie.
SPEAKER_00That's cool. Everybody who's made it out to Jazz Fest, congratulations, booze and I didn't make it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I think I'm gonna go.
SPEAKER_00I saw all the pictures.
SPEAKER_05About a half a million fucking attendees. Yeah, that's sold.
SPEAKER_00They never had a sold-out day, and they had it was sold out with what day was that? It was last Saturday? The last Saturday?
SPEAKER_05The last Saturday was uh no, Stevie was the first Saturday.
SPEAKER_00No, it's the first time. Second Saturday was the Eagles. Yeah, it was sold out that day, and I think it's because they were honoring tickets from the rain-out. And I told y'all it was gonna rain, too. Yeah, Thursday and Friday. Ah, I got that one right. Listen to the previous podcast if you want to know what I'm talking about. I did mention a little bit of rain. It happens every year.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no, without a doubt. It's I mean it's that time. You know what I mean? It's that time of year. Spring showers, bring bay flowers, baby.
SPEAKER_00April showers, baby. April showers bring them bay flowers. Shout out to the rain, though.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I uh I actually got called in on Thursday that that second Thursday where it rained. I was sitting at home and I actually had quite a bit of work to do. Um, I mean, not a whole lot, but um Laura and no, it was Suze, the owner. She called me up, she's like, booze. She's like, I need you. I was like, uh I was like, I gotta find parking. She's like, park at my house. I was like, all right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, she had it all figured out.
SPEAKER_05So I uh I got down there. I actually got a spot like six cars down from the bar. Like on the bar.
SPEAKER_00I'm glad it was busy. Let me tell you, me and Charlie Static Brendan is back.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Uh but Char and I whooped that bar's ass. So we're gonna go. Really? Y'all kicked ass. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00Come on now. If y'all visited uh Pal's lounge, man, I know y'all went and visited Booze and Char and saw him over there. Um there we go.
SPEAKER_05Check, check. Yeah, better better.
unknownOkay, cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know y'all, I know y'all saw him over there, and uh it was a great time from what I saw. Um, everybody who made it out to Jazz Fest, man, like I said, I thought it was it was crazy. It's always a great time in that neighborhood. The BSJ neighborhood is always off the chain. It's porch concert all concerts.
SPEAKER_05She does her the first time.
SPEAKER_00Oh, she did our DJ, yeah. She has a DJ dance party.
SPEAKER_05Two DJs, dance party.
SPEAKER_00It's called a Bayou, Bayou Block party or something. Block something, yeah. Block Bayou after dark or something. Bayou DJ. Shout out to all y'all, man. Uh, everybody who who hosts Door Jazz Fest and just make that neighborhood come to life.
SPEAKER_05No fights at the bar, like no, I mean, we only have one person. Oh, no fights? No, no, no, nothing like that. I knew I should have showed me. People got you know told to leave. People got told to leave, but like nobody was. I mean, it was for the most part a really respectful crowd. It was really nice. Helen Miren showed up as she always does. She never tells us when she's coming, she just shows up.
SPEAKER_06Right.
SPEAKER_05Um, we did we had one guy uh PS. Is that drink still on the menu? Absolutely. It'll never come off. It's a staple. It's like a gingerita. Uh the Helen Fucking Mirror, and you go to the bar and get it. Oh, we started a new, we started a whole new menu.
SPEAKER_00Really? Whole new menu. Is the uh is the sticky still on it?
SPEAKER_05I think we're gonna keep that. It's gonna be one of those things. We got four new cocktails coming up, and it's gonna be a game still.
SPEAKER_00All right, let them know, boozy. Yeah, I know. It's all good. We actually stopped over there uh for our for our uh food last night. We actually went to a pop-up. We checked out a great, great pop-up. We can tell y'all about it. You know, you gotta wait to the end to hear about uh the pop-up we uh had. You won't tell them who it is though?
SPEAKER_05It's Cupcake Kitchen. Cupcake Kitchen for Patrice.
SPEAKER_00Shout out to Patrice and her son. They kick ass over there, man. They they uh they do a really great job. Um we had some great food and uh Yeah, it's kind of nice that it's now kind of back to normal.
SPEAKER_05She got her ass kicked both Thursdays that she worked at uh pop up at the bar.
SPEAKER_00Really? Oh, she did she did both what? Yeah, both Thursdays. Oh, both of them.
SPEAKER_05She's there every Thursday, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Man, that I don't want both. Well, I mean, let's just talk about it. Let's get to some other bullshit. I what oh, I was leaving the farm today. And speaking of farm, wait, hold on, y'all. Speaking of farm, if you need any kind of vegetable uh situation that's locally produced, um, beyond organic, uh, and certified um what is it? Certified uh I'm not sure the word you're looking for. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Homegrown, pesticide free.
SPEAKER_00Certified naturally grown.
SPEAKER_05Okay, there you go.
SPEAKER_00So they you need to visit River Queen Greens. Shout out to River Queen Greens.
SPEAKER_05Ooh, I ate some of that salad and uh one of those cucumbers for lunch today.
SPEAKER_00I bought you some greens and some cucumbers, yeah. And Booze is gonna make some pickles for us because I'm gonna try that tomorrow. Yeah, come on now. We'll see.
SPEAKER_05I tried, I didn't tell you I didn't try to make some recently. Um I think I got the well no no no no no. This was something I made like last weekend. And I had uh, I was like, I got some red onion, I got carrot, and I got some cucumber. I was like, let me let me do a couple jars. You know, I did about four jars, I think. And um I just got the proportions wrong or something. Like, I don't know. They just didn't.
SPEAKER_00Which you had too much what?
SPEAKER_05Uh well the onions definitely had too much time. I didn't have any fresh time, so I put a little bit of dried.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I got time.
SPEAKER_05It was terrible.
SPEAKER_00I got fresh time at the house. Whenever, so let me know if you need some time. Let me know what ingredients that you want. I got dill fresh, too.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Well, I'll make them snipping at your house.
SPEAKER_00Well, I don't have I can yeah, I can we we can make dill happen. Definitely.
SPEAKER_05We'll make a deal.
SPEAKER_00We'll make a deal, deal.
SPEAKER_05Oh, damn, we're so corny.
SPEAKER_00I know. Speaking of making a deal, won't y'all make a deal with us? And uh, if you're enjoying this podcast so far this week, please uh bounce over to our Buzz Sprout. Go over there, check it out, and uh the link is in our Instagram bio. And you can donate, man. You can, you know, little as two, three dollars.
SPEAKER_05Three dollars a month is the I think the minimum.
SPEAKER_00Just imagine what you do with three dollars. Three dollars can't even get you a gallon. You can't even get a gallon of gas with three dollars, right? Fuck that shit. Fucking $3.99 on y'all bitch ass right now.
SPEAKER_05I accidentally had to pay $409 the other day because I forgot to fill up and I had to go across the causeway. And I was like, oh no. And that's the gas station before you get on the causeway is like the most expensive gas station, I swear to God.
SPEAKER_00Oh man, it's it's terrible.
SPEAKER_05I was like, I'm not making it across the causeway.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, and that's still that's a horrible feeling. It's like you're on that causeway.
SPEAKER_05It's like you waited this mother effing law. You got eight miles to empty, and you're about to hop on the causeway. That shit ain't happening.
SPEAKER_00That ain't gonna work, man. That's not how you do that. That's that fucking.
SPEAKER_05If you don't know, the causeway is over 23 miles long. The longest continuous bridge over water. It's not the longest bridge in the world. It's the longest bridge over water. Continuous over water. And Louisiana has three of the top five of those bridges.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Let them know, boo.
SPEAKER_05Man shack a chapalaya and a causeway.
SPEAKER_00And y'all look up those words. If y'all need help spelling those words, let us know. Write us in at Roman Booze. Roman Booze at Yahoo.com. Uh Man Shack. I pass, I pass. You go to Mittendorfs? Yeah. That's on the uh, what is it?
SPEAKER_05Going between Kenner and Hammond.
SPEAKER_00Right. What's the highway? The uh five uh no. I wanted to say the 15.
SPEAKER_055'10. 6'10?
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no, no. 310. Uh we don't hey.
SPEAKER_05I ten.
SPEAKER_00This is embarrassing. I take this.
SPEAKER_05No, is it six ten six ten is uh is uh is uh the Metary one.
SPEAKER_00Right, is it six ten suffer?
SPEAKER_05I think it's five ten.
SPEAKER_00Uh no, is it? Or is it three ten?
SPEAKER_05Because three ten is down to homo, right? Or is three ten shamet?
SPEAKER_00Maybe it's the fifteen. I don't fucking know. I know no I know and I and I take this route all the time. I should know this like the back of my fucking hand, but I don't know what's going on right now. I'm just having a brain for it. Um too many pickles. Who's giving me some pickles? That's what I'm about to do.
SPEAKER_0559, highway 59. What am I fucking thinking?
SPEAKER_00Come on, she got it.
SPEAKER_05Jesus.
SPEAKER_00She got it.
SPEAKER_05I was like, it's an interstate, not a freaking highway.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah, Christ. From the person who literally drives the state all the time.
SPEAKER_00Oh, D. See, we were testing up Jeopardy knowledge.
SPEAKER_05I can name you every back road in uh in Livingston or in uh we was on Jeopardy right now, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It would be like do the do the uh unless that's we know that we should know this shit like that.
SPEAKER_05Unless Slot L pops up in a question again. Did you see that? Did you ever see that?
SPEAKER_00No, what? Oh Jeopardy. On Jeopardy, so then how did you know? I knew you knew you did you just scream it out or what?
SPEAKER_05I was working, it was a Monday. It don't matter.
SPEAKER_00You still you can make drinks and ask Jeopardy questions.
SPEAKER_05You understand how busy I am on Mondays, right? I really don't have time to really pay attention to Jeopardy at all. I can barely hear it, and most people are just, you know, reading it and and screaming out. They're pretty good about keeping it down a little bit so they can try to hear it, but um it was on a Monday. I'm getting my ass kicked as I always do. And um the category was lakes, and what it did is it gave you two cities. On the lake, and it was Kenner Slidell. And I wasn't like everybody's like. So I had to take a picture out of the bar, me pointing up to the Jeopardy screen, showing the Slidell clue.
SPEAKER_00Nice. Well, your friends and everybody in Slidell. Did they acknowledge you out there?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, of course. Sure. I'm going camping with it. Maybe at the end of the month.
SPEAKER_00We can tell by the downloads too. Shout out to the slide 11. All our listeners in slide 11, man. We appreciate y'all. We're going to come out there and do a show. We gotta go tear it up out there. I won't go out there and tear it up with you.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yo, you wait.
SPEAKER_00All the old bars.
SPEAKER_05You wanna go to old town?
SPEAKER_00Go to old town. Come on now. Slide 11, where you at? Invite us over there. Tell us where we should go.
SPEAKER_05You know I'm a celebrity, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let us let us know where we should go. You're a celebrity everywhere you go.
SPEAKER_05You gotta have that fucking big energy, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you really popular. I ain't gonna lie. It's it's true. I'm not even blowing smoke. I mean.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you are. So am I.
SPEAKER_00But seriously, if you one of a kind, that's why uh you know, that's why you hit it.
SPEAKER_05I hope there's not another one of me out there. Uh I mean, you never know.
SPEAKER_00I don't know if they they say there's a you have a doppelganger, you have a look alike somewhere, somewhere in the world.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Maybe y'all may look alike, but maybe nobody with that personality. Not with the boobs.
SPEAKER_05Not the two.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_05Not the boobs and the personality.
SPEAKER_00The shit that flies out of your head, man.
SPEAKER_05Sometimes I'm just like I was born without a filter.
SPEAKER_00That's booze, though. Give it up for boozey. Come on, y'all. Who's my audience at?
SPEAKER_05Can I tell you how like happy I have been since the start of baseball season? Like the first couple weeks, I was like, man, this team is garbage. Like shit.
SPEAKER_00And you're referring to your cubs. My cubs, obviously.
SPEAKER_05And uh, man, have they been the best team in baseball really for the past three plus weeks. I'm telling you, they went, they right now their record is 21 out of the last 24 games. They ran a 12-game run uh 12-game win streak, three, they lost three, and then they won. They're on a nine-game win streak right now.
SPEAKER_00Nine games.
SPEAKER_05Nine games.
SPEAKER_00They go down to Texas to play the Rangers for a three-game, and then we finally get a day off.
SPEAKER_05But we've won 15 straight games at Wrigley Field.
SPEAKER_00Damn, that's impressive. Oh man, it sounds like it's coming. Oh, it's coming down outside, man. Give it up for the rain. The rain is coming down. They said it was we were gonna get it about an inch or an inch and a half or two of rain. That's not enough. Um can't even feel it. It's a it's enough for me. Um my level of work right now, uh, I I depend a lot on the weather, on how my day goes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00The rainier it is, it seemed like the worse my day goes.
SPEAKER_05Oh no.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, actually, um uh over the past couple weeks, uh, Rome did take a break, and y'all y'all know we had a two-week little uh hiatus right quick on y'all head, but um this is oh oh anyway. Uh anyway, I was uh I was uh I I was fortunate enough to work on some movies and um one of those days, man, it was the last day of the last movie I was.
SPEAKER_05Was that the vampire one that they're filming? Or is that a different one?
SPEAKER_00Uh it's not that one. And I wish I could tell you all about it, but I signed. Uh I signed the NDA and Rome need the money, so hey, I can't tell you all about it. But you'll know. You'll know in about a year. I'll remind y'all with some photos or whatever. Um, but yeah, man, was fortunate enough to get caught out in the rain. And that whole last night was just completely miserable, but we had a great time making some pretend well.
SPEAKER_05I was gonna say, did it affect the shot?
SPEAKER_00Um no. Well it did kind of. And I feel I feel so bad for actors who have to like perform in no matter what the conditions are. At hard. And they and they have to uh you know, they can't wear a jacket. I have a jacket on and a raincoat, and I'm bitching about the weather, but they have to they get no raincoat when we roll a camera. Yeah, and they have to perform and act and pretend like they're doing whatever they're doing, and they completely get rained on. It's terrible. Shout out to actors and actresses with uh combined.
SPEAKER_05Thanks for entertaining us.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, thanks for for being um, you know who you are because movies are important. I think um it's a form of expression, and like it takes you out of the normal world of whatever you going through in your normal life and bringing you into a completely imaginary place that really doesn't exist in this world. We create it, and so all the creatives out there, man. Shout out to y'all because y'all make it happen, and all the good movies and TV shows that's out right now, y'all should be watching.
SPEAKER_05There's so many good albums.
SPEAKER_00Appreciate that art form because acting is is one of those things like you have to be really into what you're doing. You can't just, you know, you can't fuck around. It's like this podcast. You gotta be really into it. I'm boozy. Back me up. Back me up.
SPEAKER_06What?
SPEAKER_00See how serious, see how serious we are about this podcast? That's how you have to be if you're an actor, uh, actress, or a director, or a cinematographer like myself. Um, yeah, man, a lot going on. Uh and that whole that whole two weeks was a blast. Uh, shout out to all the film crew and all the people keeping their heads up in the film world because it's not a lot of work for us right now. And uh there's people transitioning into other careers, which is you know, it's sad because it's like we lose family members, you know.
SPEAKER_05The film industry has changed so much over the past few years. Like it was so lucrative for the state, for for the people, like for everything for the economy. Literally, it was such a driving force, and it just disappeared like overnight, it feels like.
SPEAKER_00I think streaming fucked it all up, but I'm not gonna put any I mean, it is what it is right now. There's no no real need to complain.
SPEAKER_05Streaming's got you fucked up, AI's got me fucked up.
SPEAKER_00Like oh, right, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's crazy. Damn, I didn't even think about that.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah, dude. Yeah, dude. It like I mean, not talking, but I mean, over the past three years, the I've taken damn near a 50% full pay cut because that's just how much we've lost business to um these these AI programs writing, you know, fo photos based off S I mean estimates based off of photos. So instead of getting expertise, I've got 18 years in the business.
SPEAKER_06Right.
SPEAKER_05But they don't want that because they don't want to pay my little fee.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_05My little and it's a little fee. It ain't even huge. A tiny fee. A little, but a lot of a lot of those little fees, a lot of those little fees add up really good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um, it sucks, man. But it's all in how the world is working right now.
SPEAKER_05That's why I got this this side gig.
SPEAKER_00You gotta keep a side gig. Shout out to everybody with a side gig. I don't know the last time I worked.
SPEAKER_05I I really don't know the last time I worked just one job. You can't I mean I was probably a teenager, but uh even then, I mean, going to school and a job, you know, school is enough of a job, you know.
SPEAKER_00And if you invested your time in school enough, I think um I think it'll pay off like as far as a job that you can only you only would need one job.
SPEAKER_05It's really sad that we have to have so many forms of income at this point of our lives.
SPEAKER_00And shout out to my daughter, Paige. What's up, Paige?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, she's graduating next Saturday.
SPEAKER_00You graduate next Saturday. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Big nursing degree. She's gonna she got a BS in uh in nursing, so she'll be a uh registered nurse after she takes the tests over the summer.
SPEAKER_05I can't wait.
SPEAKER_00Big shout out to Paige, come on, you know you got a proud dad over here.
SPEAKER_05You got a proud auntie over here, too.
SPEAKER_00Yes, indeed. I'm so proud of her. She just like you know, she made those years look easy.
SPEAKER_05My my oldest niece, um my sister's um, not my well, I have step nieces and nephews, and I have uh biological nieces and nephews. My oldest biological niece uh and my goddaughter, she turns she's a senior next year, and I'm just going, oh my god, how? Like, it happened for how are you 16? Where I'm like, I'm still 29. Like, I don't want to see.
SPEAKER_00Look, I'm still 25, 26. Come on now. All my 26s.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I'm pretty sure the nieces and nephews think I'm still young. Right.
SPEAKER_00Nah, um, nah, it's funny to see how fast they grow and how and which way they go in life, and she took it seriously. She that she put our all into it, and she's getting her nursing degree. She's she'll be working uh with the VA um hospital uh uh for a few years. Yeah, and and so she'll she'll be and she wants to go into trauma in ER, so she wants to be busy and active.
SPEAKER_05Speaking of that, did she watch um The Pit? The Pit is our favorite show. She loves it.
SPEAKER_00She loves it. Uh can't tell her nothing.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, my sister is a um, she teaches kind of the how do I put it? It's it's it's a program for high school where you learn all the skills to be an EMT, and at the end of the year you take the EMT test, and you're as soon as you're out of high school, you can become an EMT on a track.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um, but she's a full she's a certified paramedic. She's done that for a very long time. She was gonna go to med school, but uh decided she wanted to stay here and close and and just kind of do it this way.
SPEAKER_00And um it's crazy that all of our set medics are EMTs. Every single uh set medic that's on a movie set is an EMT.
SPEAKER_05They're not a paramedic?
SPEAKER_00No, they're EMTs.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Yeah. That's weird.
SPEAKER_00I would expect at least one paramedic, but I mean, I don't know if they creep in there, but but most of them are trained in emergency situations. It's all about look, whatever some shit goes on, we need some person to put somebody. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_05In EMTs and paramedics, they just have a slightly different yeah, they just have so paramedics are basically the doctors on the ambulance, and the emts are basically the nurses on the ambulances. So that's what I'm saying. Normally, like in the fire department, like the fire department, most of those fire firemen are certified EMTs and or paramedics. Like a lot of them do parameters.
SPEAKER_00Well, I don't I don't I don't know what the uh if all the letters line up to what and who's over what, but emts uh I I think are um essential because it's not always a super extreme.
SPEAKER_05No, no, no, no, no, no, absolutely.
SPEAKER_00So we don't need uh you know what I mean. We have a fire chief and like there's somebody from the fire department and then there's somebody from the EMT service that can respond to something if something happens. But totally. Basically, we just get advil and you know, shit like that. Yeah, band-aids and fucking can you get you have any lotion? Do you have any, you know, motherfuckers ask the the paramedic, uh I mean the uh set medic for just about any chapstick, anything. They have it all, they have a kit of every single thing you could possibly do. Shout out to all of uh the set medics of y'all listening. Hey, just medics in general, medics in general, and anybody, any people out there that's that work on saving lives, um, we appreciate y'all. So shout out to y'all.
SPEAKER_05You know who's life-saving?
SPEAKER_00What's up? There's so many.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you ready?
SPEAKER_00Oh, you ready to talk about it? Let's talk about it.
SPEAKER_05It was good.
SPEAKER_00All right, so we went over to Cupcake Kitchen. Um, we want to shout out uh Cupcake Kitchen again. We was over at Pal's Lows.
SPEAKER_05Is that is that the only place she's that is their own that is her only um every week pop-up, but she does a lot of fill-ins, other places, and other like little events and stuff like that. We have a little interview with her um that I did we'll jump to in just a second. Um so she's doing something in a couple weeks down at Nola Motorsports. She does stuff at like second line brewery, which we've been to before. Um so there's she does, she kind of she gets in where she fits in. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00Patrice.
SPEAKER_05Patrice is her name, yes, Patrice. Sorry. Um, she's the owner and operator of Cupcake Kitchen, and she gives us a quick little um uh back bio as to how it started and where it cut. So we'll let's pop to her for a second. Yeah, and we'll talk more about the food.
SPEAKER_00All right, coordinate y'all in the streets.
SPEAKER_05Okay, guys, we're out here with Patrice with Cupcake Kitchen. How are you, Patrice? Why are you? Oh, I'm great, I'm good, I'm great. So you have been popping up here in New Orleans now for a little while, right?
SPEAKER_03Yes, about a year. I've been here almost two years, been popping up for like a year.
SPEAKER_05So, where did Cupcake Kitchen come from? Because you obviously are not selling sweets on the streets right now.
SPEAKER_03No, Cupcake Kitchen was based in Houston. I um went brick and mortar in 2014. It started off as desserts only, which was cupcakes, brownies, cookies, expanded in 2017, where I went into catering and doing food, and by 2019 we were a full-scale restaurant in Houston.
SPEAKER_05I might love Houston, like I've got a lot of family in Houston, so I have a truth on that. Um I'm doing an interview, you assholes! This is the uh beauty of house, guys. Uh you never know what's gonna happen. Um so um you are cooking right now, too. I don't know. I know, but I love it. Um but you've been coming up here and we've had you out of the house now for quite a while. And I gotta say, June 19th. Oh, you're coming up on your one year anniversary. Uh maybe bring some cocaine.
SPEAKER_03I'll bring our banana plane cocaine. That was our own. Oh, I remember I remember you brought them here, I think, once before, but cake that was really good.
SPEAKER_05So I did just like buy your link tree and saw that you're doing something at the Nola Motorsports in a couple weeks. What is that?
SPEAKER_03Uh they're having a Memorial Mayhem. So it's uh it's a race. Um I think it's one of the last races of the season or something like that. So we'll be doing a pop up. We actually did that last year for the first time. So yeah, so we'll be out there while they have a race going on. And uh we'll be up for two days. We'll be there Saturday and Sunday.
SPEAKER_05That sounds awesome. What what are those dates?
SPEAKER_03What are they the dates? The dates. Oh, uh May 23rd and 24th.
SPEAKER_05Perfect.
SPEAKER_03That's a weekend, that's perfect.
SPEAKER_05Everybody should go out and see um Patrice and Cupcake Kitchen. She's uh she's here with her son too, by the way. He's the muscle.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he is, he is, he is. He definitely is the muscle behind everything when it comes to loading, unloading, running customer service, the front desk, work counter, operational. We actually um we'll be here a lot this month. Also, we're doing a lot of filming, so we'll be here on Mother's Day.
SPEAKER_05Uh oh, and I'm gonna be here on Mother's Day, so we're gonna, you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna bring flowers for all the ladies on Mother's Day and you know, and so we'll be here on Memorial Day too. Oh yeah, I can't wait. This is gonna be so much fun. That's our Thursday. Okay. Well, thank you so much, Patrice. I absolutely love you. Love your food. It is absolutely delicious, so full of flavor, so rich. It's just like butter and cheese. I'm like, I love it too.
SPEAKER_03You have a favorite. All right, thank you.
SPEAKER_00All right, boobs. That was pretty good. That was a pretty good interview.
SPEAKER_05I love that Laura in India just like totally bombed right at the very beginning.
SPEAKER_00Frank dropped him off, then like this is your favorite DJ. Favorite DJ.
SPEAKER_05What?
SPEAKER_00What was that?
SPEAKER_05I have no idea. That wasn't me.
SPEAKER_00Is that your phone or something?
SPEAKER_05Bet my phone's not connected.
SPEAKER_00No, I fucked up and hit the wrong button again. Give it up for me.
SPEAKER_05Come on. Oh man. I love that we leave shit like that in there, too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I love that. Scared y'all a little bit, huh? Uh yeah, with a dope interview. Uh, I think I think them, you know, kind of slipping in that I was in bombing the interview was great. Um, shout out to them. Yeah, everybody over there.
SPEAKER_05Can I tell you, she's just absolutely the sweetest. Um, because I also run the pals Instagram, yeah. I I talk to her kind of all the time. You know what I mean? She's always like, hey, we're gonna be on time or we're gonna be late or whatever, we're doing something new or whatever. And she's probably the most active one on Instagram of all the food places that we've have followed and and gone to. She's super into promoting herself and putting herself out there. And I love it because her food is so good. Yeah, it's got soul in it.
SPEAKER_00Like the vouch for it.
SPEAKER_05You like you could taste that she's got love in everything she is cooking.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And earlier I was biting my tongue. I was like, man, I want to talk about that mac and cheese so bad. It's gouda mac and cheese.
SPEAKER_05And it's baked, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00That gouda cheese, man. Kimona.
SPEAKER_05It's so gouda.
SPEAKER_00So go gouda.
SPEAKER_05Um, see what you did there. Uh yeah. Um, yeah, but I get the um the jerk chicken. She does jerk chicken tacos, or um, you can actually put it on top of queso fries or the mac and cheese, uh the queso fries, because her queso is killer too.
SPEAKER_06Really? Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_05She got it going on out there. You can smell it. You can smell it because tacos. I the one thing she she does, and she doesn't do it all the time, obviously, but she does like oxtail sliders. Oh, she does um these smothered turkey wings over rice with like a cabbage and more mac. And like it is everything is so unbelievably flavorful. Like, you can you can when you smell it, you know exactly what it's gonna take.
SPEAKER_00You know when somebody knows what they're doing by the food smell when they're cooking it. You're like, uh probably is really good.
SPEAKER_05When you look around and everybody's got some, and everybody is shut up doing a happy dance and they got a smile on their face. Um, we uh That's how you know we ran into one of our supporters while we were there, Jess. Um, Jess Jesse. Yes, one of our very good friends, she's such a sweetheart. She she actually works with um Rodney on the pork funk all-stars during the show.
SPEAKER_00Shout out to Big Rodney.
SPEAKER_05She is a connoisseur of mac and cheese, and she gave it the two thumbs up. So um, let's let's jump to her little quick interview. She she tells us about her tacos she got.
SPEAKER_00So all right, so we're catching up mid-bike. Uh thank you guys for throwing it to us here in the streets. It's Rome in the streets. You know what it is, and you know uh we're doing exclusive interviews. We got one of our um our uh supporters and and and one of the people that really believe in us. Excuse me for stuttering. Um it's not her beauty, it has nothing to do with how beautiful she is. It's a great style.
SPEAKER_06All right.
SPEAKER_00But um, for real though, we want to welcome Jess. What's up, Jess?
unknownHey!
SPEAKER_00All right, shout out to all the listeners that's listening uh everywhere. You want to say anything?
SPEAKER_04I mean, this jerk, chicken taco is fucking fire.
SPEAKER_00Nah, you can you can curse on this show. Um, we are at Cupcake Kitchen at Pals, and Jess is here, and um she believes in what we're doing, and uh she has something to say about the food that we try. We're trying to tell y'all the best stuff to try when you're in the city of New Orleans. But um uh I I recommend y'all listen to Jess and let her tell you a little bit about it. How is your food tonight?
SPEAKER_04Oh my god, it's so good. I can't wait to dive into these tacos. And also, I want to try the Jamaican restaurant on Gentili. Now that I'm a little bit.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you heard it, you heard an episode? You you're a faithful listener.
SPEAKER_04I am a faithful listener. All every weekend. I know you guys should have favorite episodes. Oh my god, you know which one my favorite.
SPEAKER_00Which one is the favorite? Come on, tell us the tooth. Oh, poop up a tooth. Y'all go listen to that one if y'all didn't hear it. But just seriously, um, I know you're you're a regular at pals, but what is it about this food that you think people should why people should try it?
SPEAKER_04Well, they have smash burgers, they have like a little bit of everything for everyone. Like you just come and you're like, okay, well, I'm not I don't want to check.
SPEAKER_01Hey, take a drink.
SPEAKER_04Take a drink. I want a burger. You know, they have tacos. The tacos are fucking fire. The mac and cheese looks amazing. Oh, you got a bite, Les? Take a bite.
SPEAKER_00I couldn't eat all that mac and cheese. It's delicious. Um cheese. Yeah, try some. Uh, it is popping out here. We always uh love being here at uh the pals. And um, you will find the best food out here. And I'm glad Jess popped up. Just we'll won't hold you too long. Just tell them what's your favorite uh podcast to listen to.
SPEAKER_04Uh, of course, yours.
SPEAKER_00Hey, what's the name of it? I want to say I can.
SPEAKER_04Roam in the street. Whip booze.
SPEAKER_00Alright, y'all already know. Alright, back to y'all little studio.
SPEAKER_05Alright, Jess, I see you. Hello, Jesse. And she just moved. She just moved um close, I think, closer to the bar.
unknownNice.
SPEAKER_05Just what we all need to do.
SPEAKER_00Closer to proximity. You gotta be close to your water and hold.
SPEAKER_05We ran into a lot of people. That's that's our spot, man. That's I'm trying to convince you to come back more, but not all the time. Yeah, we gotta have boundaries. But man, we had so much fun last night in just that short little time we were there.
SPEAKER_00Um it's a great place to hang out, man, meet people and uh and chill. Pells is uh definitely a vibe for sure, man. Shout out to all our friends we saw yesterday.
SPEAKER_05It's literally like three or four different bars, right? You've got the rendin side of the bar, which is like everybody.
SPEAKER_00But you break that one bar up into three bars.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and then you got like the St.
SPEAKER_00Phillip side, and you got like inside.
SPEAKER_05You got yeah, the degenerates on the rendon side. That's that's you know, the stoop.
SPEAKER_00That's the stoop, and then you got inside, and then you got inside, which is a and then you have the back of inside, which can be a whole different thing. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_05It's like four, it's like four different places.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Shout out to them, uh, and uh all the bartenders over there, um, and all the supporters, I just all the supporters and friends, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Uh Patrice enough for always being so generous, too.
SPEAKER_00So dope and consistent and always over there. Sweetest. Yep. Son, shout out to the to the son as well. I can't remember his name. I don't know his name. I didn't ask him his name. He was so busy, you know what I mean? It's like, but to to have that, that's a dream job to work with your mom. You you appreciate that later in life, I bet. I mean, if I ever had a gig with my mom, I know I'd love it because I know my mom's personality and she's funny and she got a sense of humor. I don't know where I you know why I'm so boring.
SPEAKER_05I think me and my mom would butt heads a little too much to work to be super close proximity. I love my mama, she's my mama.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_05But we got we got y'all too much alike. That's what we are not. Oh, really? We are not.
SPEAKER_00It's usually when you're alike too much alike.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we are we are heads kind of polar opposites, honestly.
SPEAKER_00Really? Yeah, I can see that. But y'all might be more alike than you think.
SPEAKER_05I mean, sure, we got some things.
SPEAKER_00We got some things, but I'm sure other people notice it.
SPEAKER_05I'm more like my dad.
SPEAKER_00Oh, really?
SPEAKER_05Yeah. The people that knew my dad when he was alive, yeah. Um, they're like, Jam, you're just like Ronnie.
SPEAKER_00I was like, I bet I can probably see that. I was like, that's crazy that somebody You're a little rough around the edges, Bruce. You'll tell a motherfucker quick. Like, you don't care who around, too. You'll like you'll see some fuck you, motherfucker. I've seen you behind the bar like this, cursing motherfuckers out who gave you any kind of shit. Like, and it's just so funny because they don't expect that reaction.
SPEAKER_05You know, you know my favorite thing I've ever told a customer. This was this was a really rude customer. And if you don't like vulgar language, you know, mute it for the next 15 seconds. I had this guy come to me and he was harassing me. This was a long, long time ago. And he was just harassing me and he was telling me how to do my job or whatever. I said, I looked him straight in the face and said, Do I come to your fucking job and slap the dick out of your mouth?
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_05I said, Shut the fuck up and let me do my job.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Don't come to my job. And he was just like slapping cock out all of your out of all of your face, man. Come on, booze little. The whole bar just looked at me like I was like, Yeah, it's it's is uh and that's a when you hit a a person with that, a rude person with that, it's like, don't tell me what the like how to go about this.
SPEAKER_05I don't come to your job and like yeah, to do so uh jazz only had one set of customers. It was two older ladies that were like, they kept waving their drink at me. I said, That's a surefire way to not get a drink. I was like, I've got a method, I'll get to you when I get to you, and if you don't like it, you can leave.
SPEAKER_00Did you learn them? Did you learn them? They learned they learned, they wasn't they left learned.
SPEAKER_05A male companion that was with them, they're like, uh, she's kicking ass. Shut up, she'll get to you. I was like, Thank you, sir.
SPEAKER_00Well, shout out for people who recognize uh hard workers, and we do recognize Patrice and her son. They work hard, they do that pop-up all the time. They're very consistent, and they uh I've literally they work, they work to try. And and I had the Smash Burger, I didn't talk about it, but I had the Smash Burger, and I gotta say, hey, hey, it's a big look at the Instagram pictures. We have photo proof. Go to the Instagram, like, like our photos, man. Tell a friend about our show, tell a friend about the uh the uh podcast and the Instagram and all of the different places we've been so far. We like to give y'all, we like to give y'all good places to go. And we go ahead and try them out for y'all so y'all don't have to uh second guess or wonder how good it is. And you can take our word for it. We got pinch-proof to every every place we've been.
SPEAKER_05And I think one of the best compliments that uh I I feel is when people come up to me and be like, Man, I tried that spot you were talking about and it was. Or I want to try it.
SPEAKER_00And they like, man, I still haven't went to, you know, whatever. So yeah, yeah. Dude, that was like last that was last season. You know what I mean? Like the third pod on the last season. I know somebody uh recently in Booze, I'm not even joking, told me three days ago that they tried barbecue for the first time. They was like, man, I went to Pal's and there was this pop-up barbecue that was there, and I heard about them on your podcast, but I never tried it. I finally tried it and it was so good. Y'all check that episode out. Uh I think that was what, the second or no, that was the first one. Yeah, that was the first one at Pal's. Yeah, not the yeah.
SPEAKER_05We had that intro episode that was only like 10-15 minutes long, but that was the first like official episode. First official episode last season.
SPEAKER_00Go check out all of those episodes. We'll talk all about all the food we try around the city and why you should try it. This is definitely a spot you should try Cupcake Kitchen. It sounds like uh it sounds like it's a bunch of sweets. You would think it's uh like a dessert. It's very deceptive.
SPEAKER_05It's the title is a is deceptive, but it's her brand. It's you know, she's she's been rocking that brand now for 12 years. You know, so it's it would be I mean, it's not impossible, but why why change something that's working if you've got if you've got recognition based on this brand, there's no point in changing it. I mean, that's no need. That's marketing 101.
SPEAKER_00Um shout out to them, but uh, I mean, no matter what the name is, the food is delicious. Well, I'll definitely be back there for the mac and cheese.
SPEAKER_05I know, and you're not a cheesy person, too.
SPEAKER_00Nope, because I love cheese with and dairy, but dairy don't necessarily put it.
SPEAKER_05I don't think dairy gets along with a lot of people. We as uh humans are not supposed to are not supposed to consume as much dairy as we do.
SPEAKER_00I love dairy too. Yeah, me too. I love stinky ass cheese too. She'll always give me shit. I want the stinkiest cheese. Give me that stinky, like if when there's a cheese tree, yeah, I want the stuff like I look for the stinkiest looking piece of cheese, and that's the one that tastes the best. Yeah, man. Let's go. But uh, if I eat too much, yeah, of course, it uh it'll it'll back me up. Uh you know, I gotta I gotta do that. Yeah, we don't have to get in the detail.
SPEAKER_05Come on, huh?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, uh but yeah, the mac and cheese over there is fire. Make your way over there and get the delicious get the uh catch a special, maybe some oxtail uh type of.
SPEAKER_05She's popping up a lot at PALs over the next month. Uh we unfortunately we unfortunately lost one during Jazz Fest. Um code enforcement, I guess, was riding around the city, and they're basically telling every freaking bar and pop-up that wasn't a food truck, if it was a food trailer, that they could not pop up. They have to have a permit. And you can't get a permit for a trailer, you can only get it for a truck that has the engine. So they literally uh we had a pop-up that was there for every um a pop-up that was there every Saturday and Sunday night. We no longer can have them unless they get something mobile.
SPEAKER_00And I know I know exactly who you're talking about. Damn, that's terrible.
SPEAKER_05And I like them, they're really, really great guys. The hot bots.
SPEAKER_00I'm hoping they can great burgers.
SPEAKER_05They have really good burgers. I love their baked potatoes with the all the stuffing in it, and like that was a potato for two or three meals, man. But um, I hope everything works out for them and they can get something worked out because that's I think that's really shitty on the city, but you know, it is what it is.
SPEAKER_00But they gotta drag it down no matter what, you know.
SPEAKER_05There's rules or reasons, and most of those that those reasons are money.
SPEAKER_00But well, in better news, uh, cupcake kitchen is there if y'all need them.

SPEAKER_05Uh I just I saw a quick thing on I think Instagram or something like that, but I didn't see what was uh what had happened if anyone was hurt.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it says uh the refinery it rocked uh it rocked St. Bernard Parish. Um Yeah, a large pum of smoke was uh seen over the refinery, but unclear what caused the incident.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's a that's that's what I saw. There was there's no answers yet, but I'm sure they'll be out by this evening news or yeah, they said no injuries have been reported.
SPEAKER_00Um that's a miracle. Yeah, but the eastbound lanes were closed. Um what St.
SPEAKER_05Bernard Highway or St.
SPEAKER_00Bernard Highway, yeah, from Jackson Boulevard to uh Paul Masano Boulevard. Paul Masano, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So schools near the refinery were told they no longer needed to shelter in place because the fire was under control and yada yada. Hopefully the rain right now is helping them out.
