I'm sorry. Yeah. There's no reason to sit in a hot house. I mean, it's really and excuse both of us if you hear Booze and I uh do a little cough together.
SPEAKER_02We got the black plague.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I don't know. Jesus. But I was in, we was uh in two different hemispheres. Hemispheres and two sides of the uh equator and both seemed to manage to get a little something. It sucks.
SPEAKER_02I've got bronchitis, and let me tell you, that doctor was a quack. I'm half tempted to leave a Google review of how terrible he was. Uh oh. It was bad, dude. He wouldn't give me nothing to make it. Uh-oh. Sorry. Calling you out, homie.

SPEAKER_02He was more interested in my tattoo than making me feel better. I was like, dude, I'm around people all the time. I do insurance. I work a bar. I was like, I cannot be coughing in these people's faces as I'm trying to work.
SPEAKER_11Right.
SPEAKER_02And he's like, your tattoo's really cool. It looks fake. I don't give a fuck, homie.
SPEAKER_07I've been in here dying. Can you please help me with like some kind of suppressing? He's like, no. You know anything. Did you do you know anything?
SPEAKER_02Anything. Nothing. Oh man. He's a quack.
SPEAKER_07Wow.
SPEAKER_02So I turned into a total see you next Tuesday after that. Just totally pissy. I was at the bar. I picked up a ship for our buddy Juliano and Fuego. I picked up a ship for him yesterday, Friday. And uh I could I Laura let me go home when she got there at six. I was like, I couldn't do it. I was just I was dying. Oh, that's awful.
SPEAKER_07I feel bad for you, but I was kind of in the same boat. Um, you know, I was out of the country uh for for a couple weeks and uh went to Bali, Indonesia, give it up for Bali. Um beautiful yeah, it was it was great. What a what a wonderful cultural experience. Um I mean, that wasn't even a tenth of a tenth of I mean it wasn't even a dropple of what we were actually doing all the time. You're always sticking and moving in Bali, you you either relaxing somewhere once you get there to your destination. But you're living in the moment. You but the stuff you can see within ten feet in Bali will amaze you. You know, it's just like it's so rich in culture and architecture and art is everywhere, and you know, um there's just a lot going on. They they they call it the land of the gods for the uh island of the gods, I think it is uh for a reason, man.
SPEAKER_02Everything is the craziest animal you saw.
SPEAKER_07Uh people asked that, but that was not really weird. Nah, it was you know, um, there was a iguana or two. Uh you see those all the time. You see those, but it was none of nothing weird. This forest that they built this great habitat for and just let 'em run and uh they they procreate out there. They uh it's a lot of little babies.
SPEAKER_02Just looking scaling people's cell phones.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, no, we didn't go to that. The monkey forest and uh Alawatu temple are two different places, but they both uh it's a lot of monkeys in the wild. Uh yeah. Yeah, in Indonesia, man, you you should expect stuff like that. But where we went in monkey forest, it was great. They the monkeys were were not aggressive, even though they were like nursing and like you know, um they had plenty of food to eat. There's workers there chopping up potatoes all day. Just to feed them. Just as many as they could eat. And so they decide to stay there instead of like venture off.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean why why search for food when it's given to you, right?
SPEAKER_07Yeah. You have nowhere to go. You have water, they know how to turn on the water off and on. So you'll see them go up to a little water spout that they have on in the ground, and they'll turn the water on for themselves, and the whole family will get some water, and they'll turn it on off, and then they'll turn it off before they leave.
SPEAKER_02That's wild.
SPEAKER_07It's so incredible. They're more considerate, huh? Yeah, a little bit. It was wild. If you ever make it to Bali, shout out to Bali, Indonesia, man, with a great island in Indonesia. Uh it was the food was amazing. Everybody always wants to know how was the food? The food's incredible. It's all fresh. I mean, you can't.
SPEAKER_02There's no processed anything out there, you know? No. You pick it, you eat it the same day.
SPEAKER_07Same day they bring it in, it's going out. It's it's an incredible economy, which makes it seem more affordable to us here in the US because uh I mean, the the amount you pay for a meal for four people out there is just like nominal. It's lunch. It's it's really incredible to see the and it's because they have such fresh ingredients, they all have a network of farmers. And it's in abundance.
SPEAKER_02And they're not over farming, and they're not, you know what I mean? They're not destroying the local ecosystem just to have these farm plots. They're using what's naturally available and cultivating what's naturally available. That's the best part, you know.
SPEAKER_07And they grow it all themselves, and in every family there has uh a farm situation as just part of natural life. So uh I found that incredible. Give it up for Bali for that. That was very inspiring to know that hey, I'm you know, I'm not far, I'm uh in the same boat. So when it seems like a lot of work for me, and I think about well, these are they do it 24-7. This is everybody though. So you think if everybody had a little bit of something. Because even a little bit of rice out there goes, you know, you grow some rice, you have uh, you know, at least five, six acres of rice. You could do, you know, you make us a it's a whole barber system, yeah. You know, you make an impact in that in that economy, and it's just incredible to watch. Their culture is amazing. Uh everybody out there is super nice, they are over, over nice, you know. I mean, we loved it because I like being nice, so uh you know way. Yeah, yeah. Give it up for me.

We uh, like I said, I was, you know, out of the country experiencing a whole new culture. And uh just want to say I'm yeah, I'm happy about that. That was a great experience. If you think about doing any trip to anywhere in the world, I think you should just do it.

SPEAKER_07Put it on your list and you know, make it happen. And there's ways that I mean that trip was two years in the making. That just wasn't like the overnight decision that we told you, I think.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna do Southeast Asia next year. I was planning originally for 2028. I'm figured I'd do a three to four week trip every five years. Yeah. Uh just you know, treat yourself. Treat yourself. Reddit said it best. Um yeah, I think I'm gonna take advantage of going to Southeast Asia. I've got a few connects in a few places, so I think I'm gonna go uh Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and South Korea. Is it our girl Sinedra out there? Woo-woo!

SPEAKER_02She got a bed ready for me. That makes that makes things better when you don't have to pay for lodging.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it does. It is it makes it a lot easier. And it was something that like because it was all uh coordinated and shout out to uh five star Levi. Follow Five Star Levi on Instagram or whatever. But I'm gonna go let Max out real quick for you. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. Go do the thing. I'm gonna board the people with the travel information. If you want the best travel agent um that's putting stuff together, nice trips, you could put your fire package together, get in touch with 5 star Levi. Uh, you can follow him on Instagram. Uh, and he's got, you know, bunch of bunch of ideas that actually work, man. And that that was the best trip I think I ever been on to uh to incorporate like a city and cultural experience. Experience everything. Experience, yeah, go and see a shaman and you know.
SPEAKER_02I've only been on one like major trip, but was you know, that the trip to Europe I took back in 23.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But I did that all on my own, dude. I did my own research, I did all my own thing, and I'm gonna tell you what, I fucking nailed it. I couldn't have I couldn't have it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, the itinerary itinerary was on.
SPEAKER_02It was on we only had, I mean, when I say the minorest, the most minor of travel inconveniences, which weren't our fault, right? So um the the one little one was uh when we were leaving Italy going to Austria, there was uh a malfunction with another train on another track, which diverted our train, which made us miss our connector or whatever. So that's so minor and in community, you know what I mean? Yeah. We still got to where we needed to go, just about three hours late, but that's it.
SPEAKER_07Man, I hate when that happens when other other things happen that you have no control over while you're on a trip.
SPEAKER_02Um kind of affect you don't speak the language and you're going off.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, how do I make it from here? But that was a th that was a lovely uh part about having having that agent, um, having Levi just uh coordin coordinate everything. Uh our tour guide uh the whole time we was there was the same guy f that picked us up from the airport. That's awesome. He dropped us off to the airport. Um him and he he had a great he was just a tour guide. He sat in the passenger seat and he turned to look at us to explain everything. Oh, that's cool. You know, he basically had it uh a rent a friend kind of thing almost. And then you have a driver as well. So with that the driver and and the tour guide all in the same connected company. Whole package, yeah. The driver has to know how to drive in Bali, which if you've never seen it's like uh, you know, anywhere else where there's a lot of people and it's really narrow roads, is is a lot of chaos. You gotta know what you're doing. It's not like you just even even if you ride motorcycles or similar to Italy. When you go out there, I wouldn't suggest renting number one. I mean, unless you you know uh you live in the room, you better be experienced. And you better know exactly where you're going and time it your timing has got to be impeccable. Oh, you get rear-ended. Yeah, or you end up in the ditch out there. Uh better with the roll rash out there is no fun. So anyway, I didn't witness any of that, any of that, and uh we didn't uh we didn't have any incidences ourselves. So because we had a professional driver and and a tour guide that brought us exactly where we w where we wanted to go, and it was a full day. It was like going on three excursions a day. It was it was crazy. Shout out to me by the way.
SPEAKER_02What was your favorite kind of experience in Bali? I saw y'all did a lot of things. I think some meditation style things.
SPEAKER_07Well that that that was a temple we went to and they have a natural spring that they built that temple around in I think it's 960 BC. So yeah, it was 1100 years ago. Yeah, it was been there a while. And uh and the water in the where the uh aquifore is, uh or Kaiser or whatever you want to call it. Sure, no, yeah. Uh but the water level never changes. The plants stay the same. That whole so they built a temple around this place and that spring feeds, you know, everything. Everything in that area is it goes a lot of ways. But right as it comes out of the ground, there's a fountain there that you can fill your body spiritual cleansing with, yeah. You connect to who you're you know, with your ancestors.
SPEAKER_02I mean, mine's not gonna be that intense, but I'm going to hot springs in three weeks and just that's just as good.
SPEAKER_07Now to take a dip. Arkansas. Hope we get your people.
SPEAKER_02I th well I think our buddy, our buddy Will Estes lives right around the corner little in uh Little Rock. And uh I think he's um I think he might be out of town the same weekend I'm going there, but I'm hoping he I get to see him because it's his birthday that weekend that I'm gonna be there. So I'd love to I'd love to see our little buddy Will. We don't get to see him that much anymore since he moved back to the house.
SPEAKER_07Um but yeah, it was a it was a true cultural experience, and and we got the beach portion towards the end. We spent like you know, two or three days on the uh on the west west coast of in the Indian Ocean. So it was like the waves are crazy out there, and it's it's more intense surfing than it any beginner. I wouldn't try to do it. Don't just get in the water. No, don't just get in the water.
SPEAKER_02Is that shark attack in Florida just like last?
SPEAKER_07I heard about that. I heard it was two, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, shit. Woman got her freaking arm damn near ripped off.
SPEAKER_07Be careful out there, and that was in Destin. That's where I like to go. Um, so I'm hoping uh hoping everybody makes out alright with that, man. Shout out to the summertime.
SPEAKER_02I love being in the shark's house. You know what I mean? Man, I love being on the beach, I love being in the water.
SPEAKER_07You like being in the shark's house, huh?
SPEAKER_02I mean, look, can I can I be honest with you? Because I'm a weirdo, like a motherfucker. I would take a quick nibble just to have a really dope ass scar to talk about. I mean, I can't.
SPEAKER_07Be careful with your expert. Booze, you're gonna see booze with one arm one day. But I just got a little scar. I went I'm swimming with the sharks. I'm like being in the sharks den. I'm gonna get all them off, man. Yeah, I know. You get all that. Yeah, welcome back. It's good to be back, man. I had a great time. It was very uh relaxing, and I don't want to blab on about it. I feel like I talk, uh, I talk too much about it.
SPEAKER_02It's so refreshing when you go on a trip like that, you know. It just reminds you you're just a dot on a dot, floating through space.
SPEAKER_07And also to appreciate what you have. Yeah, absolutely. Be grateful and yeah, the way their compounds are set up, they they have compounds, so the whole family stay with each other.
SPEAKER_02Forever.
SPEAKER_07And well, not well, the girls marry off. So if you but if you're a male, you get to build a house with your wife on that property. You're if you have a sister, the girls will get married and they have to go live with their husband on their husband's.
SPEAKER_11What if they don't want to get married?
SPEAKER_07Well, there's two things about that. Well, you know, that's a whole thing in other ways of life. And I believe they they are Hindu. Um, so it's a hip more Hindu culture. And it's a which I don't know much about.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know much about it.
SPEAKER_07Um yeah, I neither did I. I learned a little bit, but it's it's a mix of different uh I think Muslim and and I don't think Muslim are mixed in with them, but I do think that there's the culture is present. Both both of those cultures are are heavily present in the Indonesian area in general. But anyway, it was it it just reflects in like how you know their houses are set up with the temple in front and the east house, the west house, and why, you know, certain houses are built on certain parts of the land. It's all connected to one farm which maybe, you know, five families share and they all work on that farm. You know, it's just amazing to watch like a bunch of people survive and be happy with minimal with the culture of knowing that the people before them set that up for them and the preeness the same spot and they you know because trees take forever to grow. So to have trees already on your property when you mature, yeah. By the time you mature, it's like it's amazing, man. Shout out to them again. It was it was very inspiring and uh yeah, there there is a beach culture and like beach clubs and you know, the pools are really nice.
SPEAKER_02The white people are part of it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, well you can say, but uh I mean I think ever everybody would enjoy a good, nice, relaxing, well kept, well manicured uh resort or or a nice beach that's just pretty clean and some white lotus. Uh yeah, I guess. Uh shout out to that show, man.
SPEAKER_02Uh what are you thinking about next?
SPEAKER_07Oh, we don't know yet. Uh we're working on it. Still thinking there's uh maybe go back to Southeast, East Asia. Uh that'd be nice. I mean Aruba is actually next, I think. Like I'll go to we'll go to Aruba just to just to go for a week or whatever. Go for a little week. Yeah, but that's all vacation. There's there's vacations and then there's uh getaways. Yeah, we do getaways and just kinda Yeah, that's my kind of goal.
SPEAKER_02I normally like to my my goal each year is to have at least two flights. You know what I mean? This year I'm only oh this year I'm gonna get a couple. Um but but to have like a two or three day one or two two or three day just kind of extended weekend getaways and then one that's you know like a five to seven day kind of thing. So I I I need to I I believe that travel and just experience the different things. Yeah, just it's just it just makes your life richer, you know what I mean? It does, it's money comes and goes, but experiences will stay with you forever.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, those memories forever. Um besides that like white water rafting down the river out there was it's super. Isn't that fun? White water rafting's a blast. I heard there's a place in Tennessee that I need to go.
SPEAKER_02I went to a place in Colorado and it was amazing there was a whole it was a whole little thing, and there was zip lining and white water rafting. That was so much fun.
SPEAKER_07So I can see that. Um I want to explore more of the U.S. too. So we we we do like going uh you know out of the country and seeing other parts of the world and other cultures.

SPEAKER_02Look, me and Shay and um and uh Ayana went to uh Colorado last year. Yeah, last year. They went to the um the Stanley Hotel, you know, the the one that Stephen King wrote The Shining about.
SPEAKER_11The Shining, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But what's really funny is the one that we went to is is the actual hotel, right? So the one that you see in The Shining isn't the Stanley, that's um oh shit, the name just blew out of my brain. Anyways, but that's in Oregon, that's not in Colorado. So that big gray.
SPEAKER_07Those two locations that they made into one.
SPEAKER_02They made a made-for-tv version of The Shining with Steven Weber and um uh Rebecca Des Mornay. That was filmed at the Stanley in Colorado, and that was the biggest piece of shit made for TV movie you have ever seen in your entire life. It's absolute heart garbage.
SPEAKER_07But glad I never saw it and wasted my time.
SPEAKER_02Bruh, it is the biggest piece of shit.
SPEAKER_07Well, I'm glad y'all here to uh and we're not wasting y'all time talking about let's not talk about the movie, man. Talking about new pieces of shit because man, I feel so good coming back from that and uh just to to be with y'all here on this podcast. We did that on a sad note. I mean, boo you want anything you uh you want to talk about?
SPEAKER_02No, I mean we've we're gonna talk about the yeah, I was gonna because I was gonna say World Cup started. Uh and and as somebody who's just a soccer most. Yeah, I'm I mean I'm just a sports fan in general, right? I mean, obviously I love baseball the most and I love football. Um I'm not really big into soccer, but it's really electric being around people who are soccer people who really love it, and like just watching them get so involved. And I'm watching, you know, the most random ass fucking games. I was watching Turkia, Turkia, because that's how they say it. And Paraguay Paraguay uh last night, and I'm going, how is Paraguay winning? They're man they're down a man, Turkey's control of the game the whole time, and they just won one, and I it's just I thought I'd see why the excitement I saw a dude get his lay growing. I watched that Canada game. Yeah, Canada gets guitar.
SPEAKER_07Yes. And the moment I saw that, I was like, holy shit. And the kick after when uh the guy kicking it like around the wall, and oh my god, I was like, man, it was a wall of people, and I'm explaining to people. I'm like, it was it was incredible. It was like, uh, you've never watched soccer, I can tell.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_07And I'm like, yeah, I d I never watch soccer. I don't get it. I went to I met a boring me. Y'all only score a couple points or whatever.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I went I met up with some friends at um including Juliano and our buddy uh Logan and Sean and Nancy and the Porters. Or uh no, the Porters weren't there. Never mind, doesn't matter. Anyways, for up at Finn McCool's where their buddy Tall Hot Jeff was working, and uh it was the Arsenal versus Paris St. Germain like finals. And uh that was man, I'm gonna tell you what, Arsenal fans are a whole different breed of people. Right. Isn't that the best team? They're one of the best. Yeah, but they haven't won in a very long time.
SPEAKER_07It's Paris.
SPEAKER_02Paris Saint Germain is good. I think they've won back-to-back years.
SPEAKER_07Okay, um I think that's who who they expecting to win, but shout out to the US, all the US yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, the Paris St. Germain isn't a a team in the World Cup. That's just your normal Premier League, that kind of stuff.
SPEAKER_07Gotcha. I know nothing about soccer.
SPEAKER_02But World Cup is each country instead of each team, like a city team. I think it's a good thing.
SPEAKER_07It's fun to watch, it's fun to see um a representation of you know the best of the best.
SPEAKER_02And and a soccer player. I've been at the wrong tour.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, y'all uh look at the game a little different. I'm there going, how the hell is he going around this different?
SPEAKER_02I'm just seeing this sweaty man just like the hotest shit. I'm sorry, I gotta go.

But we uh we do gotta get to some the sad part of the show. We went over to uh Parkview Tavern uh a couple weeks ago for their grand closing. And uh shout out to PVT. Yeah, it was uh it was great. There was uh lot of people there. It rained pretty much the whole time. The city cried.
SPEAKER_02It rained the whole time because uh I was miserable. I was so miserable. It was humid, it was rainy, it was hot, and it was hot. It was out of the way. And ever like you couldn't be inside because it was packed. So everybody's outside on the the patio just chain smoking cigarettes, and I'm going, yeah, I'm gonna die.
SPEAKER_07Michelle kind of felt the same way too. Oh man. Um, don't you miss the days when you can smoke inside? No, it's less smoke outside. Uh no, but um what a great time. We did get it.
SPEAKER_02It was a great time, though.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we saw a lot of good folks. We got it.

SPEAKER_09Uh, Roam in the Streets with Booze. Yeah, there we go. What did I say the first time? You say Roman Booze in the streets, yeah. I do that sometimes. Well, I'm a little tongue-twisted right now. It's my favorite bars uh last night. We've had a couple of cocktails.
SPEAKER_07Talk about it. So, how do you feel about PVT closing?
SPEAKER_09Uh, it's very sad to me. Like, this is a wonderful spot. That was like a third space. And if you don't know what that means, you should look it up because everybody deserves a third space. Everybody deserves that. I don't care what your background is. Uh yeah, this is one of my favorite spaces in New Orleans.
SPEAKER_07Nice. Um, how do you feel about the future of this bar?
SPEAKER_09Uh grim. Very bleak. I don't know what gives you that idea though. Just because the people that took it over, if they had any idea of letting something good happen, they would have let it stay what it was.
SPEAKER_07Right. You think it's gonna come in and change or what?
SPEAKER_09Oh, yeah. I think it's gonna be a high-end like cocktail bar or something like that, which defeats the whole purpose of the third space.
SPEAKER_07Alright. Well, y'all heard it first here. Roam in the streets with booze. Back to y'all in the studio. Alright. Appreciate that, Rome and booze, and catfish and Maddie oh for y'all input. Yeah, a lot of people don't miss that place. Yeah. It was a lot of people just, you know, peruse around in the neighborhood, and that's one of the stuff. I thought it was great because of like the scenery about, you know, and having uh the snowball sand across the street, uh the streetcar.
SPEAKER_02They always had fun at uh, you know, New Year's and the 4th of July. They was always popping off.
SPEAKER_07Right, and every Saints game, we knew if if one place we could go and watch it, it'd be Punk Your Tavern. It was a staple in the uh the Saints culture here. Absolutely. They held it down. It was a potluck every every week. There's always something. So even if you went over there hungry, they had you covered. So shout out to PVT. We had a couple other interviews. Yeah, we did. Who we got next?
SPEAKER_02We got I know we too we got some with India and and Tanya. I love me some Tanya. I miss Tanya. She's the she's the greatest.

SPEAKER_12Yeah, we're gonna like we're gonna do this right now. Hey guys, we're back here at PvT. We're here with Tanya. Say hi. Hi. Yeah, it's chaos here. We've said that a million times already. Uh, but this is the last they hear. Like, what are your feels?
SPEAKER_10I mean, this is an establishment. It's been around for decades. It's sad to see it go, and I wish they could have made it work because it's not just like a bar, it's a community hub. And so many people come here. I've been here for it is a phenomenal place, and I wish them well on their next adventure.
SPEAKER_12I know that it's a very hard decision to have to. I mean, they were kind of forced to take a decision. But I know the stadium is you know, keep that beef to that decision. So we're here all celebrating and sweating and getting well.
SPEAKER_10And it's turned to everyone is so committed. I think that's probably 150 people, maybe even more. Under an awning, and everyone's here to support them at the last drink, the last round, waiting for a brass band, the band, all of us.
SPEAKER_12I know the the band's trying to sneak in right now, and it's damn near impossible. We're about next to buttons in every corner of this bar right now. 100%.
SPEAKER_10I mean, it's first are you. Do you have a favorite memory here? Or yes, I have many favorite memories here. It's being with the people that live in the neighborhood, work in the neighborhood. We all just come here and congregate and talk about what's happening in our lives, talk about all the things, and that's why I think therapy sessions. That's why I think so many bars are critical because it's not just you know, people you know say bars are all about drinking, but I think it's really about it's a community hub, and it's so important for so many people.
SPEAKER_12I agree a hundred percent. I have developed the best friendships and just relationships of my life with people I've met in bars. So the importance of bars is critical to the health of a community because it's where you go and you find your cafe and your friends, your patrons, your bartenders, and I'll work you through your emotions. And you know, a big one is exposing.
SPEAKER_10So uh we're gonna sit here, we're gonna drink, we're gonna reminisce, we're gonna reminisce and drink, and uh yeah, it's gonna be a good time in New Orleans. It's a celebration, it's not a death, and that's what I love about New Orleans. We know how to celebrate uh changes in life, be it positive or sad ones. Like this is sad, but it's also a celebration of what this place means to the community and what it's meant for this neighborhood for decades.

SPEAKER_04I ain't gonna lie, y'all. I really think it sucks. We didn't come here as much, but we did come to watch the Saints game pretty often, at least once or twice a season, and it's it's gonna really be missed. I ain't gonna lie. I really enjoy coming here, having uh, you know, just so much of time with all of the pictures, and being able to sit outside and enjoy the uh the uh the game.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, so um, you know I love you so much, right? I do. You know we're taking a vacation to work I do. I'm just gonna see this, but hey, how do you feel about our trip to Bali?

SPEAKER_06I think it's a sad day for New Orleans. It's an institution that shouldn't be going, but since it is, we might as well celebrate its last stand. We might we may as well enjoy it, right? Hell yeah. It's the only way.

Um and we love y'all, and we would have it no other way. So we'll get a show to y'all soon again. Uh maybe take a couple, a couple two, three weeks off.

I didn't think it was gonna last this long, but hey, look at us. Come on. You've been doing so good, boozy. I couldn't have done it without you, baby. I appreciate you. So, come on.
