I HAVE A NEW PODCAST. Search Perpetual Brew wherever you listen. The first two episodes are live!!!!

This episode includes a few windy voice memos I recorded leading up to one of my most ambitious creative endeavors (which is happening RIGHT NOW).

I will make a new podcast episode every single day of April to publish by 6am the following morning (over on the Perpetual Brew feed). I am both terrified and ecstatic. My friend Miles – who stewards The Tea Stand – will be serving free tea in Maria Hernandez Park every single day of the month from noon to six. This 30-day podcast – Perpetual Brew – will aim to encapsulate this 30-day free tea project: what happens and why it matters.

Some episodes might be horrible. Others, hopefully, will offer a new lens into a project I deeply admire.

Special love to Rili for playing the electric violin in my favorite park. Check out their Instagram here. Onwards!

𖦹 FREE TEA FOR ALL 𖦹

SPEAKER_03

This whole month I'm really just gonna be studying this park, I guess.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you're gonna learn a lot.

SPEAKER_03

You know what I'm most afraid's gonna hinder me? What? The wind.

SPEAKER_02

You know, I hate the wind.

SPEAKER_05

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02

You know, especially because I'm an audio audio maker, like the wind disturbs all my recordings. But I can't control the wind. Just like a lot of other things. Okay. Every single day of April, I'll be making a new podcast episode from start to finish. In one day. My friend Miles will be serving free tea in Maria Hernandez Park every single day of the month. I think that's pretty awesome. So I figured I'd join him and see what happens. I recorded a few windy voice notes over the past few weeks. Here goes.

SPEAKER_01

Test, test, test. Hi.

SPEAKER_02

Test. Okay. I was having a little bit of self-doubt and fear today. There's pretty much two options. The first of which being to avoid it and pretty much to turn away, to come up with reasons why it won't work. And then the other option is facing it. It's facing it head on. And I'd argue that's the much more fun option and much more tumultuous, too. It's also the scarier option. And it's the option that in reality will lead to more failure, right? If I don't put myself out there for a 30-day project, I'll never fail. You know, it's like I can't. I can't fail. There's part of that that would be awesome, right? Like how easy and simple that is. That would be to not put myself out there. But within all of that, there's like such a huge amount of excitement that's knocking on the door of my mind. And it's intimidating and kind of frightening to admit that. Because that also is welcoming failure and disappointment and like self self-doubt as well. But I don't know. I want this series to be out of this world. You know what I mean? I want it to be surprising and wonderful and totally brand new in its form. You know, I don't know of many daily podcasts like this that are trying to be somewhere along the lines of art and journalism. And we'll see. I don't know. Like, I have no idea what's gonna happen, and that's part of what makes it so exciting and fun and scary and alivening, you know, and maybe it'll be horrible. Maybe I'll just hate it and I'll never want to do it again, and I'll want to quit every single day. Maybe, but even so, what a new experience that would be. I'm gonna test my limits. I'm gonna see what I'm capable of. Instead in these claims of, oh, I'm gonna see what I'm capable of. Like, that is so cheesy. That is so cheesy to admit aloud and then broadcast for people who I do and do not know. You know, so I but I just have to go with it because I believe in it. I believe that I'm gonna see what I'm capable of. I believe in that so strongly, even though people don't be saying that these days, you know? But it's true. We what are we capable of? Let's find out. Let's help it, let's do it. There's someone playing some sort of instrument over here. It's pretty remarkable. Although when I first was doing the trailer, I was like, oh, the tapes like not super crisp, and how much to include, how little to include. And those are all real doubts about this couple minute audio piece. And like also even just shrinking it down and like all the usual fears and struggles and complications that come with making something from start to finish were coming up yesterday.

SPEAKER_05

Sounds amazing, you know.

SPEAKER_02

But because I have to turn it around like that, I lessened the gap from what I envision it to be to how it actually is gonna end up. The gap is the horribleness. The gap is how much how horrible it sounds in reality. Like all the space in between the audio files, right? Where that's my intention of putting something there or my idea of putting something in there, but it doesn't exist yet. That gap, I have to lessen, shrink, and completely cut that gap in one day. Less than one day for this project. 30 times like that is gonna be insane. All I will be doing is problem solving. Problem solving, problem solving, problem solving, problem solving. Left, right, center, sideways, and upside down. That's what I'm gonna be doing. So yeah, like literally we'll see. We'll see together what happens. I don't I don't know what what'll happen. I think it'll be fun and new and yeah, and I believe in it. I'm freaking stoked. I'm stoked. Um I present to you the trailer of the 2026 30 day podcast perpetual pro I literally want to wake up every day and go surf tea in the park.

SPEAKER_00

That's so honest. It's the best. It's actually the best. I have so much fun. It is the most potent, it is the most potent form of medicine in our world that is so disconnected and so distracted and so sick in so many ways. And being able to be out there and talk to people, uh actual human people, and smile and share tea is actually the best thing ever. That's all I want to do.

SPEAKER_01

This is Miles. Wow, look at that.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like you're about to shoot me.

SPEAKER_01

Years ago, he started something called the tea stand.

SPEAKER_00

You sit in a park with a table and a sign that says free tea for all. What's gonna happen? Anything. Everything, nothing. All of it is possible. So, all that and more to come with Perpetual Brew.

SPEAKER_01

This April will be in Maria Hernandez Park every single day of the month.

SPEAKER_02

Rain or shine. I'll be there too, working on this podcast. Each day I'll record sounds and words exploring different themes connected to this project. Beginning. Curiosity.

SPEAKER_04

Listening, potentially clothing, quiet time, small time, repetitions, energy, working. Cheers. Community.

SPEAKER_01

What do you hope for this project?

SPEAKER_00

I hope we actually are out there 12 to 6 every day serving free tea. That's really it. Yeah, I don't I don't need anything to happen. That's part of the mystery.

SPEAKER_01

Thirty days of free tea, 30 days of new episodes. Get excited.

SPEAKER_00

Would you like a free cup of tea?
