Day 9! It's a sunny day with Miles back behind the stand. Sounds include mostly Tara: an Easter egg hunt, Snakes n Ladders and that 'which hand is the rock in' game. Until tomorrow!

Let me know what you think of this episode.

SPEAKER_03

Today's day nine.

SPEAKER_04

Free tea!

SPEAKER_02

Thirty days of free tea in Mary Hernandez Park.

SPEAKER_03

Hello, hello. Happy day nine.

SPEAKER_02

Happy day nine. It is that time. Noon o'clock.

SPEAKER_03

Would you consider yourself a playful person?

SPEAKER_02

I think so. I don't know. It's also like I'm mirroring a lot. And a lot of the time I'm mirroring kids. And that's a great way to learn how to be playful.

SPEAKER_03

How old are you, Tara?

SPEAKER_04

I'm five years old.

SPEAKER_03

Tara, what do you think about T?

SPEAKER_00

About four. I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

What does it sound like? You wanna hear it?

SPEAKER_03

Okay, test, test, test. Why do you play?

SPEAKER_04

Um, what else am I gonna do? Not play?

SPEAKER_03

I don't even know when I could look.

SPEAKER_04

You can let it be. What? You tricked me!

SPEAKER_00

Play is like not knowing. Play is like I might fall out of this tree that I'm climbing up right now. Play is fear. It is you like you face fear in play.

SPEAKER_03

Tara, what the what's she doing up there?

SPEAKER_04

She is she swam through a branch.

SPEAKER_03

She went all the way up to the tree.

SPEAKER_01

I just I think about Tara and her need to play because she's very like, we can't cross the street unless the the the the white walk sign is there. But then she like blossoms when she plays. She's like so creative and like like let's make this, let's do this. And then she's just so in it, she's like, come on, sit with me, do this, dupa da da da, you know? And it's like, oh yeah, like you're having fun in the moment.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I see the pigeons. Yeah. Yeah, should we go to the pigeons?

SPEAKER_00

Like it when an orca jumps out of the water. What for the first time? Where does it think it's gonna land? What does it think is gonna happen? And I think kids can play a lot because we don't have senses of fear. And it's fear that stops us. Like, I don't even know you.

unknown

I don't even know you like why did you have to say that?

SPEAKER_04

It's just it was like why you gotta say that much.

SPEAKER_01

That's what it's like to be a child, is like to learn and to be curious.

SPEAKER_06

Well you bring out the your childlike self, it brings out your your creativity.

SPEAKER_04

What if should we play? Hmm. A cardboard dice. We can play with it. Yeah, let's play.

SPEAKER_01

We should play to to get out, to get out of our head and create a new reality.

SPEAKER_04

So first you roll the dice, you go how many, and then the snake makes you down, the ladder gets you up. How many steps?

SPEAKER_00

The earth is something like deeply serious and earnest, and play is like something such a fun and exciting way to like access that seriousness and earnestness through like humor and imagination.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, like taxes. But yet we have to play. We have to play soccer. We have to dance. And we have to play basketball to just like feel connection to our homies and and yeah, get really present. What else do you want to hear?

SPEAKER_04

I wanna hear a friend swinging. Swinging? What do you think? Good.

SPEAKER_03

You wanna feel the bark? Sticky. Sticky.

SPEAKER_04

Scraping the leaves.

SPEAKER_03

Some dogs do, some dogs don't.

SPEAKER_04

No, some dogs um just want to be quiet. Look at that dog.

SPEAKER_03

Guess what the dog's name is? Mr. Lee. Mr. Lee.

SPEAKER_04

So so let's do some great sounds.

SPEAKER_03

Some what?

SPEAKER_04

Great sounds. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, the runner? Did you hear it?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. I want to see if there's any more tea left. There's a little bit. Do you want some more water?

SPEAKER_00

There's a little table to set up and like.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's so tasty.

SPEAKER_00

Cute things to put everything in. And like I played tea shop as a kid. I played tea stand as a kid. Kids put up lemonade stands. That's play. This is a lemonade stand. I didn't play. I've met so many people today and had so many beautiful conversations because we're playing.

SPEAKER_02

Well I hope people start hanging around. Oh, oh. People hang. That's part of the mission.

SPEAKER_04

Is there any more tea there? Let's check.

SPEAKER_03

There is. You want a little bit more hot water for the road? Yeah? Yes. Bye. Is it hanging here with you, Miles?

SPEAKER_02

Best day ever.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah?

SPEAKER_02

Best day ever.

SPEAKER_03

Well, how come?

SPEAKER_02

I think the pancakes.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, you're literally making pancakes.

SPEAKER_06

You want some pancakes? Ooh.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know, it's not being carefree. Because that makes it sound like there's not care and love involved. It's like a love of fun and humor and laughter.

SPEAKER_01

You're in the middle of packing up, I don't want to have something.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we can do that together. Right? Bouncer.

SPEAKER_01

T stands over for another minute.

SPEAKER_02

Another minute. I appreciate you. You need some drive carry off. Look at you around. Yeah, come on back.

SPEAKER_03

Day nine is done.

SPEAKER_02

Best day ever. Yeah? Yeah. I think we can end it after this. It's not gonna get any better. We're gonna have to decide whether we really wanna keep going with tomorrow.

SPEAKER_04

What? Day nine.

SPEAKER_02

Alright, we'll do it. Woo! Yay! No, day we're I mean double digits. Okay, I'm here with Ziggy.

SPEAKER_03

Hello! You're the one taking over the tea stand tomorrow.

SPEAKER_05

I I know I'm I'm really eager and and ready to to sip on tea, to talk about tea, to tea with others.

SPEAKER_01

I'll see you tomorrow.
