Okay, day twenty-three.
SPEAKER_04Free tea!
SPEAKER_05Thirty days of free tea in Mary Hernandez Park.
SPEAKER_03Oh hello. Okay, day twenty-three.
SPEAKER_05Day twenty-three, Michael Jordan.
SPEAKER_03LeBron, rather. Oh. So tell me, what were you like as a little kid, Miles?
SPEAKER_05Super like sensitive and shy.
SPEAKER_04Cool, huh? Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_05I was very scared of the world. I think it was just a lot to take in.
SPEAKER_03What's your name?
SPEAKER_04My name is Phoenix. Phoenix?
SPEAKER_03How old are you?
SPEAKER_04Um four.
SPEAKER_03Are you excited to grow up?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Why?
SPEAKER_04Because um I get to have a car.
SPEAKER_03Because you get to have a car?
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna get my driver's license. When we come to the park, my dad plays basketball, and me and my brother went to school at any time.
SPEAKER_05My dad's mom, who I never met. Do you like being her like singular advice to my dad when he was growing up was don't wish your life away.
SPEAKER_03How do you like to spend your time, Phoenix?
SPEAKER_04I like to spend my time where my dad and my brother playing in a park.
unknownDo you want me to?
SPEAKER_05And it's another way of saying, like, oh, I wish it was summer. And anytime my dad would say anything along those lines, she would like curtly respond with, don't wish your life away. Like, this is it right now.
SPEAKER_03The sound of a swish.
SPEAKER_05A very prevalent fear amongst I think our generation, just like this stage of life, is are you sowing seeds where you want to?
SPEAKER_03Are you good at basketball? And I'm good at riding my scooter. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And like the decisions that you make now are going to inform your life for the rest of it.
SPEAKER_03What's been your favorite year? One, two, three, or four? Four.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Are you satisfied with how you spend your time?
SPEAKER_02Uh honestly, I feel like I'm never satisfied.
SPEAKER_04It's just when it's when it's summer, I get to go to the beach. My daddy bought me the swimsuit. He bought you a swimsuit? Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03What color is it?
SPEAKER_04Uh, he didn't tell me what's the color yet. I think it's gonna be pink and purple. And when the and then when comes the the the beech wiggles.
SPEAKER_02I'm just starting to barely touch on who I really am and like what I want to do and where I want to be. I nitpick on everything. I'm a perfectionist, and then I fear having something imperfect, and then I'll be like, I'm just gonna change this, and I'm just gonna change this, and I'm just gonna and then I never stop until I hate it, or I outgrow it, whatever comes first.
SPEAKER_04The best part of being siblings is that we always get our s our children's stuff. Like I got my sister ice cream yesterday.
SPEAKER_03What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?
SPEAKER_04Uh sh uh sh um chocolate.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I like chocolate too.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's the same. What do you think? Same.
SPEAKER_01I always just thought that I would start my life at some point out in the future. And I kept saying that all the way through and I never started. And then life just was always something else.
SPEAKER_03How do you like to spend your time, Jeremiah?
SPEAKER_04Uh play with my friends, chew bumblegum, do push-ups every every morning.
SPEAKER_03Are you scared of getting older or are you excited for it?
SPEAKER_04Both?
SPEAKER_03How come?
SPEAKER_04Because I'm scared because then I have to have kids, but the most thing is that I get to do whatever I want.
SPEAKER_05I remember like looking in the mirror a lot and just trying really hard to imagine what I was gonna look like as an adult. And like all of the images in my head were like not good.
SPEAKER_03You're nervous about having kids.
SPEAKER_04Yes. Okay, I want to say something.
SPEAKER_05You're looking good and you're doing good.
SPEAKER_04From all the people from New York. If you're nervous, this come to me.
SPEAKER_00I struggled with like manic depression. I believed that I wasn't in control of the. So here's where the story goes. My thoughts. Like my thoughts were my thoughts, and they were just there and I had to experience them. And I, you know, like five or six years ago realized that I didn't have to dwell.
SPEAKER_01So I need to show you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I like I had a business, I had all these employees, I had a house. And I was like, oh, I'm gonna my business is gonna go bankrupt, my house is gonna collapse, or I'm gonna, you know, whatever, go broke or whatever. And I had this, you know, very wise friend that said, let's pretend all of those things happen. Now what are you gonna do? And I was like, oh, I'm I guess I'm gonna go live my life. I'm gonna go do all the things I wanted to do anyway.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I know how to get up. No, no, we're gonna be. What does it feel like up there? It feels like sticks that that's hard. It feels like sticks that are hard? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I am, or anyone is, completely free. As long as they're not completely attached to the thick, whatever the thing is that they're afraid of losing or afraid of pigeons, but not of climbing trees. I don't know if you can relate to that at all.
SPEAKER_03I'm afraid of that's really the thing. It's like I'm afraid of losing.
SPEAKER_00I mean, but you will lose of them all.
SPEAKER_04Shiny, try you, shot. You wanna hold us? I guess so. I already got a flower. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then now what are you gonna do?
SPEAKER_04Okay, now we're gonna get that. I'm gonna show you that in the car. Let's go.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Miles. Six oh one.
SPEAKER_05Six oh one.
SPEAKER_03And uh, how are you feeling about tomorrow?
SPEAKER_05Uh noah's taking over, so expect havoc.
