This morning we are gonna continue with the Baptist Catechism. The title of my message is an A is God is Infinite, Voyager One and the Milky Way. And I hope very shortly y'all will see what we're talking about. As Brother Don mentioned earlier about preaching or standing before God's people, it is a fearful thing. It's a humbling thing, and it's a wonderful and exciting thing all at the same time. And if y'all will turn with this morning to Psalm chapter eight. And the Son of Man that thou visitest him. Question mark. For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor. Amen. What is man that thou art mindful of him? Again, the title of my message today is God is Infinite, Voyager One and the Milky Way. We have been preaching through the Baptist Catechism, and we have landed on the point that asked the question, What is God? What is God? Last Sunday we attempted to start that and we covered a little bit of ground. Last Sunday we established that according to the Bible, that God is spirit. That means that he does not have a physical body like you and I do. We established that God is invisible. The Bible says no man has seen him at any time. Last Sunday we established that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. And not only is he the creator of light in all things, that word light in the scriptures is emblematic of the fact that God is purity. He's pure. That God is holy, that he is righteous, he is just. And this morning our point starts with what is God? And God is infinite. And brothers and sisters, I'm scared and excited this morning to tell you about this. It is absolutely wonderful. The word infinite means without limits. Without limits. God is infinite. God is without limits. God is boundless. He has no boundaries. He is not limited by time and space like you are and I am. God is never ending. He did not have a beginning, and he does not have an end. God is what is referred to as omnipresent. That just simply means that He is everywhere present all the time. God knows everything. God sees everything. God understands everything. If y'all will, so we say all that to say that what is God? Well, God is infinite. And we read in some and the reason why I read Psalm chapter 8 in verse 4, what is man that thou art mindful of him? And David said this after he said, When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars which thou hast ordained semicolon, what is man that thou art mindful of him? In other words, considering David thinking about the fact that God, you are the creator, you are the origin of all the starry heavens and the earth itself and every created thing. And in thinking about that vastness, and you are the one who made all that, then David asked the question, What is man that thou art mindful of him, and the Son of Man that thou visitest him? In other words, David was basically saying, Lord, I am a single grain of sand on all of the seashores in all of the world. Why, Lord, would you even take thought of me? Does that make sense? That's exactly what he's saying. In other words, when David said, When I survey all the things that you've made, the heavens and the stars and all the wonders, and see how powerful and how vast you are, why, Lord, would you take the time to bother with the evil man like me or like you or like King David? Amen. That is what King David is considering. And David just literally was standing in awe of the fact that God would take notice of a sinful grain of sand like him and like you and me. So I want you to keep that scripture in the back of your mind. It is our focus scripture for today as you and I consider all the things that you and I are going to look at today. What is man that thou art mindful of him? Turn, if you will, to Job chapter 11. Job chapter 11. In Job chapter 11, we're going to begin in verse 7. So this is one of the men that is the Bible refers to them, or we refer to them as the miserable comforters of Job in his affliction. But nevertheless, he gives a beautiful illustration of God and God's vastness. In Job 11, 7, he says, Canst thou by searching find out God? And the implied answer to that question is no. In other words, is man able by his searching, by his investigation, find out or understand God? Canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection? In other words, is man able to completely wrap his head around and understand in a logical manner the vastness of God? And the answer to that is no. Brothers and sisters, there are things that you and I can understand. That you and I can understand that 2 plus 2 equals 4. You and I can weigh things, we can measure things, we can calculate the speed of things, the distance of things based on known things that are in the universe. You know, if you drop a rock off of a building, you can calculate exactly how fast it will travel and exactly how far it goes. And why is that? Because there are things in the universe that are held as constant. And why are they held as constant? Because God holds them all together. We're going to look at that a little bit later. And that is how you and I are able to measure and understand and do scientific evaluation of things, because there are certain things in the universe that are held as constants. Well, but the question is asked here, canst thou by searching find out God, and canst thou find out the Almighty to perfection or to the complete end of that? And the answer to that is no. Man is unable to find out the vastness of God. Verse 8. It is as high as heaven. What canst thou do? Deeper than hell, what canst thou know? The measure thereof is longer than the earth and broader than the sea. In other words, man is unable to fully understand God. And brothers and sisters, I need y'all to be okay with that. And I need to be okay with that. That man is unable to fully understand God. The Bible tells us that. If y'all will, turn with me to Psalm 147. Psalm 147, we're going to begin reading in verse 1. Psalm 147, we're going to begin reading in verse 1. Praise ye the Lord, for it is good to sing praises unto our God. For it is pleasant, and praise is comely. The Lord doth build up Jerusalem. He gathereth together the outcast of Israel. He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds. Verse 4. Y'all pay special attention to verse 4. He telleth the number of the stars. He calleth them all by their names. Great is our Lord and of great power. His understanding is infinite. He telleth the number of the stars. He calleth them all by their names. Great is our Lord, and of great power. His understanding is infinite. That means it is without limits. It is without bounds. Now, Josh, where are you going with this? What is God? God is spirit. God is invisible. God is light. He is pure, holy, righteous, just. But God is infinite. He is boundless. We're going to get to some really interesting scientific stuff here in a minute. Y'all bear with me. But before we do that, turn, if you will, to Isaiah chapter 40. Isaiah chapter 40. There are some beautiful passages of Scripture in the Bible. They're all beautiful. But there are some that just stand out to us. I know that you have heard parts of Isaiah chapter 40 read before. And we're trying to make very good use of our time this morning. But I want to read for y'all this morning Isaiah chapter 40. The whole chapter. We're not going to comment a whole lot on this because a lot of it is very self-explanatory. But please follow along with me in your Bible as we read Isaiah chapter 40. So I know y'all have heard the first part of Isaiah chapter 40. And also probably the very last part of Isaiah chapter 40. Let's just begin reading in verse 1. Isaiah chapter 40, verse 1. Comfort ye, comfort ye, my people, saith your God. Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her that her warfare is accomplished, and that her iniquity is pardoned. For she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins. Amen. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God, that spoke of John the Baptist, and he was a forerunner of Christ. Verse four Every valley shall be exalted, lifted up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, brought down, and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. The voice said, Cry, and he said, What shall I cry? And so here is Isaiah proclaiming what the Lord told him to say. All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field. What does that mean? It means that you and I are passing away. That you and I are frail and fragile like the grass of the earth, like the flower of the field that today is and tomorrow is burnt up by the sun. That's what he's talking about. Verse 7. The grass withereth and the flower fadeth. Because the Spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it. Surely the people is grass. That means you and I are like a vapor. You and I are small. You and I are passing away. You and I are like the grain of sand. And God is not like us. Verse 8, the grass withereth and the flower fadeth. But the word of our God shall stand forever. So think about that logically for a minute. On the one hand, you and I are passing away like literally the grass that's burnt up by the sun, but the word of the Lord shall stand forever. So you and I should be focusing on the word of the Lord, right? Because it stands forever. That's a given. That's just a logical conclusion. Verse 9. O Zion, that bringeth good tidings. Get thee up unto the high mountain. O Jerusalem, that bringeth good tidings. Lift up thy voice with strength. Lift it up, be not afraid. Say unto the cities of Judah, Behold our God. Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him. Now wait a minute, stop. Brother Josh, you've already said in this study that the Lord is spirit, and that means that he does not have a physical body. So why is here the Bible talks about the Lord's hand and the Lord's arm? Because that helps you and I to understand. It doesn't mean that the Lord has a physical hand made of flesh that does things and a physical arm made of things. It is a personification of the Lord that when the Lord hid Moses in the cleft of the rock and covered him with his hand and passed by him and showed him his hinder parts. It's a personification of the Lord. The Lord does not have a physical body. When you and I think about Father God, we think about some massive human being-looking figure sitting on a great white throne in heaven, right? I mean, let's be honest. That you and I think of some colossal figure of a man that is sitting on a great white throne that is infinitely larger than you and I are. And that's how we think of it, and I know, at least in part, that's the way that I've thought of God over my life. But I want you to understand that God doesn't have a physical hand. So this is a biblical personification of God's working. Behold, the Lord God will come with a strong hand. His power and his arm shall rule for him. It's like the mighty soldier that is so strong that his strength is in his arms, where he wields the sword, he wields the spirit, or the master craftsman who uses his arms and his hands and the strength of his body to build the structure. And so this is just a personification of some of the attributes of God that the Lord is the creator, he's the builder, he's the power, he's the mighty man. And so it doesn't mean that he has a physical arm or a physical body because he doesn't. He is spirit and he is infinite. If God had a hand, you and I couldn't see it because it would be larger than the universe, because he literally holds all things within the palm of his hands. And so you and I who can't see past the sun during the pinnacle of the day, the Lord's hand that upholds all things would be so vast that you and I couldn't even comprehend the size of it, you understand? So he doesn't have a physical hand. It's just the personification of his strength and his power. Because he's infinite, he is boundless, he is without limits. Behold, the Lord God will come with a strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him. Behold, his reward is with him and his work before him. Verse 11. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd. He shall gather the lambs with his arm and carry them in his bosom. God gathers us to himself and shall gently lead those that are with young. Can you imagine that? The one who holds literally the universes, like let's say all the galaxies were like a little bit of marble, like each galaxy was its own marble, and the Lord holds them all in the palm of his hand, yet he literally gathers his people to his bosom, like a like a mother, like a like a loving father. King David, Psalm 8. Who art man that thou art mindful of him? Considering the fact that you literally, as the song says, flung the stars out into space and holds them in their proper place? Why would God think about, love, do anything for, intervene in the life of a sinful grain of sin like me and like you and like King David? Follow me? Verse 12 of Isaiah 40. Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand? Did y'all know that the earth is approximately 71% water? The whole globe. Did y'all know that the approximate diameter of the earth, if you were to draw a straight line through the dead center of it, is just a little bit less than 8,000 miles. In other words, if you if you draw a line straight through the earth from point to point, the approximate diameter of the earth is about 8,000 miles. If you were to start at one point and go all the way around the globe, it's a little bit less than 25,000 miles. All the way around the globe. The earth is made of approximately 71% water. Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand? And meted out the heaven with the span. He measured it. He put it there. And comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure. And weighed the mountains and scales and hills and a balance. What does that mean? Man, in other words, men could try their best, and they could not tell you the exact volume of the earth. Now they can do the math and take the diameter and the circumference and figure out the surface area and the approximate math. And they can approximate those things, but they can't get it exactly right. But God knows exactly what he created and how much it is. Verse 13. Who hath directed the capitalist spirit of the Lord or being his counselor hath taught him? In other words, who has taught God anything? No one. With whom took he counsel? And who instructed him and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding? In other words, who was the Lord's school teacher? Nobody. Who told him how far to put the sun away from the earth? Nobody. Who told him how big to make the earth? Nobody. Who told him what creatures to make or not to make? Nobody. Who advised him on you should do this and you shouldn't do that? Nobody. Why? Because he's infinite. Because he understands all things, he sees all things. The Bible literally tells us that by him all things consist or are held together. Did y'all know that the Lord is what is called self-existent? You know what that means? It means that God doesn't need anything or anybody. He exists. If the oxygen was taken away from you and I, you and I would die. If the earth was too cold, if the sun moved a little further away, you and I would all freeze to death. If it moved a little closer, you and I would all burn up. Everything on earth is dependent upon God holding all things constant. If uh the earth, you know the earth spins, brothers and sisters, on its axis. Thousands of miles per hour. And you know what that does? It creates gravity that you and I don't float off out into space and die. Like you and I are sitting here in this church house, brother Josh, the earth stands perfectly still. No. This earth, brothers and sisters, is literally careening at thousands of miles per hour, and you and I don't detect it. When men go out and survey long distances of the earth, they have to take into consideration the Corialis effect in the horizon of the earth because you and I live on a sphere, a globe, and it is literally spinning at multiple tens of thousands of miles per hour to generate and make gravity so that you and I don't fly off into space. And then not only that, this spinning ball is actually making a 365 and one-quarter day revolution around the sun, and that is what you know. We have 24 hours day, you know, here in just a little while it's going to be dark, right? Because the part of the earth that you and I are sitting on is rotating away from the sun that our that our little earth rotates around, and then it's going to be dark in a little while because it's careening around at thousands of miles per hour, but you and I can't feel it or detect it because the earth is so large. But in it's going to be dark in a little while because this rock that you and I live on, and our little spot on that rock has twisted away from the sun, and now it's dark. And in the morning, it will have twisted back toward the sun, and you and I can see the sun again. And then all the time it's careening around the sun in an orbit that takes 365 and one-quarter days to make a full revolution, and that's why you and I have the seasons. Because it's not a perfectly cylindrical orbit, instead, it's elliptical. So that during the summer months, like right now, you and I are actually closer to the sun than we are in the winter months when we're further away, therefore the earth is colder during the winter months and warmer during the summer months. Because in our elliptical orbit, we're closer to the sun right now than we will be in the fall and the winter. And God is the one who has placed all these things in their correct place so that we can have human life and plant life and animal life, and it actually can exist on this rock that's careening through space at multiple thousands of miles an hour to generate the gravity in a nitrogen and oxygen-rich atmosphere where you and I can actually live. Let's move on. So after it says, Who did God consult? And the answer to that is no one. Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and they are counted as the small dust of the balance. Behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing, and Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beast thereof sufficient for a burnt offering. All nations before him are as nothing, and they are counted to him less than nothing in vanity. In other words, as an example, as a modern example, if you were to take every cow in the entire United States of America, millions and millions and millions of livestock, and sacrifice them all simultaneously, it's not a worthy sacrifice to God. Amen. There's not enough beef on planet earth to make a worthy sacrifice to God. We're counted as the small dust of the balance. Verse 18 of Isaiah 40. To whom then will you liken God? Question mark. Or what likeness will you compare unto him? Question mark. The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold and casteth silver chains. He then is so improvised that he hath no oblation, he chooses, in other words, the poor man can't make a gold idol. He's got to go make a wood one, so he goes finds a wood that's resistant to rot. He seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image that shall not be moved. Have ye not known, question mark? Have ye not heard, question mark? Has it not been told of you from the beginning? Question marked. Have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth? Question marked? It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, that's the Lord, and he's talking about the orbits, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers, that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in, that bringeth the princes to nothing, he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity, yea, they shall not be planted, yea, they shall not be sown, yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth, and he shall also uh blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble. What does all that mean? It means that men have no power. It means that Hitler is literally a bump in the road on history, even though he killed millions of Jews, you understand? That man is nothing and less than nothing compared to God. You and I fret over so many things. You and I worry about so many things and the nefarious plans of men and governments and all the terrible things in the world, and God can blow them and obliterate them, you understand? Amen. And praise the Lord. He is an infinite and powerful God. Amen, right? Praise be to God. He sitteth upon the circle of the earth. And men are nothing and less than nothing. But you know what the flip side of that coin is? Who art man that thou art mindful of him? That he sent his son to die. For sinners like you and I. God's not afraid. If all the governments of all the worlds were to combine and make war against God, we actually read about that in uh Revelation, and there was no war. The man, the creator who spoke into the darkness and created light, there was no war. He ended it in a moment, in the blink of an eye. There was no war, there was no fight, there was no contest. But yet, who art man that thou art mindful of him? Verse 25, to whom will you liken me? Verse 25. Or shall I be equal, saith the Holy One. Verse 26. Lift up your eyes on high and behold who hath created these things that bringeth out their host by number the stars. He called them all by names. That's all the stars. Remember, we read in Psalm 147 that he named all the stars by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power, not one faileth. Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speaketh, O Israel, my way is hid from the Lord. In other words, Lord, I'm going to go over here and I'm going to do my thing, and you're not going to know what I do. No. There's nothing that is hid from the eyes of the Lord. Everything you and I do or think or say, He knows it before we do it or think it or say it. And he knows it when we do it and think it and say it. And he knows what the fallout is after we do it and think it and say it. Why sayest thou, O Jacob, O people of Israel, and speaketh, O Israel, my way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God. He doesn't know, he doesn't see, he doesn't know that's not right. Verse 28. Hast thou not known, question mark? Hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the Lord, the creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither neither is weary. There is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint, and to them that have no might, he increases strength. Even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, and they shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not be faint. The Lord is our help. Amen. I know y'all heard that verse. Now let me get to the point what I was trying to talk about today. Very quickly. I told y'all the title of my message, and again, y'all don't be afraid. We're almost done. I told y'all the title of my message today is that God is infinite, Voyager 1 in the Milky Way. Okay? Let's get to Voyager 1 in the Milky Way now that we've got the Bible stuff talked about. In 1977, NASA launched Voyager 1. That is a spacecraft. It's a satellite or a probe. Its original mission was to go to Jupiter and Saturn in orbit and study those places that originally had a five-year mission. Okay? Launched in 1977. I was born in 1977. This probe was launched 49 years ago. It's about to be 50 years. So for round numbers, we're going to call it 50 because at the end of this year, first part of next year, it will be 50 years that the Voyager probe has been flying through space. Okay. When I was a kid, I liked planes. I liked a lot of things. But uh one of those planes that I just found fascinating when I was a kid, you know, as a young boy, you know, you want to you want the fastest, the biggest, the best. You want to understand those things. Y'all know what the fastest plane on earth is? Like that a man gets in and flies from one place to another. The fastest plane on Earth is the SR 71 Blackbird. It's a huge plane, has a tremendous amount of fuel capacity, and every time it goes for a flight, it grows. It literally, the metal on its hole, expands because the amount of heat from friction that it flies, it almost uh, and I have my numbers written down here. I've probably misplaced them. Oh, let's see here. Oh, the SR71 Blackword flies at 2,193 miles per hour. Theoretically, if it were to fly from Bay Springs, Mississippi to Seattle, Washington, it would take 56 minutes. About the time it would take you and I to drive from here to Hattiesburg. The SR 71 Blackbird can fly from here to Seattle, Washington in about 56 minutes. At 2,193 miles per hour. That's how fast it goes. And when it comes back down and lands on the runway, it is literally leaking fuel out of the plane because the metal on the plane expanded so much due to heat and friction. 2,193 miles per hour. The Voyager 1 spacecraft is currently careening through space at 38,000 miles per hour. How is that possible, Brother Josh? Because in space there's no oxygen. It is not hindered by friction. And so the Voyager 1 space probe is currently traveling at 38,000 miles per hour. It's fast, okay? Now, uh at that rate of speed at 38,000 miles per hour, how long would it take the Voyager 1 space probe to fly around the Earth? 39 minutes. 39 minutes. If it started at one point in space, the Voyager 1 space probe traveling at 38,000 miles per hour, it could fly completely around the globe in uh 39 minutes. That's how fast it's traveling. Okay? So the Voyager 1 had its original mission, set out from Earth, and it didn't quit. It didn't die. 50 years later, it's still flying in space. In 50 years, how far did it travel? 16 billion miles. D'all get that? In fifty years, it has traveled 16 billion miles. And as of November of this year, as of November of 2026, it will have traveled one light day away from the earth. What is that, brother John? Well, y'all heard of a light year, right? And it's 365 and one, there's 365 and one-quarter light days in a light year. Okay? So as of 50 years from its launch, the Voyager 1 space probe in November of this year will have traveled one light day away from the Earth in distance. Well, how fast is, and again, how do you how do scientists know all this? They know it because it's still emitting, uh it's still pinging data from itself, and we know because God holds everything constant, so we can calculate the speed of sound and the speed of light and the speed of radio waves, all that has been scientifically documented, those are constants, and therefore, based upon the amount of time that it sends the transmission and we receive it, we can calculate all these things. It takes 24 hours for the data to go from Voyager 1 to hit the earth. It takes a day for us to read it. Okay. Do y'all know how fast light travels? Light travels at 186,282 miles per second. That means that a beam of light can travel around the earth 7.5 times in one second. Okay? Okay? Y'all stay with me. Now, the math may seem a little odd, but it's not. Uh because the uh Voyager 1 space probe, if it were brand new, and if it were sent out from Earth today and headed on a straight-line mission to the to the to the sun, it would take three months to get there. That seems kind of narrow. At 38,000 miles per hour, if Voyager 1 left Earth today and headed in a straight-line shot for our sun, it would take it three months to get there. Okay? And you understand that the Earth is spinning around the Sun in our galaxy. The galaxy that you and I are in is the Milky Way galaxy. Okay? Well, if Voyager 1 were to leave Earth and fly to the center of just our galaxy. That, in other words, our galaxy, if y'all, you know, there are certain seeds out there. Have y'all ever seen like a tornado on like a radar? It's got like a center or an eye, and then around it, it's got like all these spirals that are, all these bands that are out. That's what our galaxy looks like. The Milky Way galaxy has a center that, and it has all these spiral bands, and Earth is in one of those bands, and that in that band, around the center of the galaxy, Earth is rotating around the sun in that band. Well, if Voyager 1, traveling at 38,000 miles per hour were to leave Earth today and make a beeline for the center of our galaxy, do you know how long it would take Voyager 1 to get to the center of our galaxy? 500 million years. 500 million years to get to the center of our galaxy. If it were to leave Earth today and go to the edge of our galaxy, how long would it take, Voyager 1 traveling at 38,000 miles per hour, who could go around the Earth in 39 minutes? How long would it take to get to the edge of our galaxy? Approximately over a billion years. To get out of our galaxy. By the way, uh, do you know how many uh there is over approximately 400 million stars just in the Milky Way galaxy alone? And scientists estimate from the quote unquote known or seen universe that they're aware of approximately three trillion galaxies. So, and if they don't know, you understand. See, please don't misunderstand me. I'm not trying to tell you that man can know and understand God. I'm actually telling you the opposite. In other words, man, in his best guessed estimation, thinks there's approximately three million galaxies just in the knowable universe based on our feathers telescopes that are in space that get out of our galaxy and they don't even know. But our one and only galaxy that you and I live in, the Milky Way, if Voyager 1 were to try to go just from Earth to the center of it, it would take 500 million years. And to get to the edge of it, it would take a billion years. And we're just one of 300 trillion galaxies, and again, we don't get that right. Y'all follow me? Who flung the stars out into space and holes them in their proper place? But also who takes a center of Ain and Wilde and makes them as a little child. Who art man that thou art mindful of him? You follow me? God does not exist to answer all of my wants and needs. God was not created to serve me. God wasn't created at all. God is the creator. I and you were actually created. Created to serve him. Make sense now? Who art man, God, that thou art even consider me as a sinful grain of sand on all the sands on all the seashores and under all the earth? God, why would you even consider me? Follow me? And now that we think about it that way, who should be serving whom? You and I should stop doing whatever we're doing right now, and then for the rest of our life forever, with all of our energy, with all of our effort, with all of our mind, serve God with our everything. Oh, by the way, that's what scripture tells us to do. Whatsoever you do in word or do you do it all to the glory of God. By the way, I love the Apostle Paul because you know what he is an example of? He's an example of a man who was converted, who then attempted in his best sinful way. Again, Paul's a sinner like you and I, like King David, like everybody except the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul's an example of a man who was sold out for Jesus Christ and who attempted to live for him every day of his life until the day he died after he was converted, and the man wrote a third of the New Testament, and you and I are still talking about him today, right? One man attempting to serve God. It's an example of what the Lord can do through a man. And Paul is not to be compared with the Lord Jesus Christ or with God Almighty. Amen. Let's wrap this up. In Colossians chapter 1, we read a very beautiful verse. It's one of those kind of hidden verses. Or one of those verses that you and I kind of glance over. Colossians chapter 1, verse, we'll begin in verse 12. Colossians 1 12, giving thanks unto the Father, which made us meet or fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light, who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, that literally means removed us, and hath translated or put us into the kingdom of his dear son, the kingdom of light, in whom we would have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins. Christ, who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. Notice this, verse 6, for by him, this is Christ, were all things created that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities or power, all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things. That means he's preeminent, he's above, and by him all things consist. The word consist there literally means to be held together. Did y'all know that there is an invisible force located on the inside of an atom that scientists still to this day do not understand how it is fully held together? Do y'all know what happens when an atom splits apart? Think atomic bomb. When an atom is split, you have atomic fusion or fission, or again, above my pay grade, let me not go off and when you split an atom, it blows up like Hiroshima, Hiroshima, an atomic bomb, okay? When an atom splits. To this day, scientists do not fully understand how the invisible force that holds atoms together, that create mass and matter and all that, they don't understand that. The Bible is very clear about what the invisible force that holds all things together is. Colossians 1.17, Christ, and he is before all things, and by him all things consist or are held together. In other words, the universes, you and I and all the plant and animal life, and all the galaxies and all this circumf all the uh centriscal forces that hold all gravity and all these things together and all these galaxies rotating around. Who holds all this stuff together? God. God does. Holds it all together. And you know what? What would happen if he let it all go? It'd all burn up. How's the world going to be destroyed the second time? Everything's gonna be burnt up. You know, the first time it was destroyed by water, the earth. The secondly, everything's gonna melt in fervent heat. What happens with an atomic bomb when the atom is split? It explodes. See, God is the only self-existent thing. It means that he doesn't have to have anybody holding him together, but you and I do. And the earth and the galaxies have to, everything has to be held in constant and held in place, otherwise it would all fall apart and just blow up. Last thing, Exodus chapter 3, verse 13. This is the last scripture. I promise you. Last scriptures. Exodus chapter 3, going all the way back to early in the Bible. I'm sorry, let's begin in verse 13. And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come to the children of Israel and say unto them, The God of your fathers has sent me unto you, and they shall say to me, What is his name? question mark, and what shall I say to them? And God said to Moses, I am that I am in all caps. And he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I am has sent me unto you. In other words, Moses, when you go to Israel and tell them who it is that sent you to do the thing that you're doing, do them. Moses said, Well, Lord, what do I tell him your name is? Tell him my name is I am that I am. What does that mean? It literally means I am what I am. It literally means I exist. I exist. In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth. I exist. In other words, how do you explain what God is? You can't. Follow me? God said, are you gonna make some idol or some image that represents me? You can't do that. You can't get one big enough. You can't get one glorious enough. You can't get one vast enough. And if a man were to lay his hand on it, he would defile it because he's a sinful man. If he were to come up with a design, it's not gonna be a good one because he's a sinful man. If you're gonna bow down and worship it, you're not doing a good thing because now you're taking your devotion off of God and putting it on a thing that you made. How foolish of a man are you? Follow me. So our galaxy that you and I live in, it would take the Voyager space probe a million, no, I'm sorry, not a million, a billion years to exit our one little galaxy. And there are trillions of galaxies. And God holds them all in the quote unquote theoretical palm of his hand because he doesn't have a physical body. He doesn't, he's spirit. That's showing you how powerful he is. Well, God, you you should have done this for me. God, you need to do what I tell you to do. No, he doesn't. Shame on me. And shame on you. Brothers and sisters. You and I were literally created to serve and glorify God, not the other way around. Amen? Amen, somebody, please. Where is the gospel message? Psalm 8. King David. Lord, why do you consider me? Lord, why do you think about me? Lord, why did you send your son to die for a man like me? Follow me? Why would he do that? He shouldn't have done that. But he chose to do that. Because he loved us. He knows every hair on mine in your head. He named every star. But yet, he thinks about me and he thinks about you. Let you and I consider that all week long and try to wrap our head. We won't wrap our head around it, and amen, we won't. But you and I serve a Almighty and glorious God, and may you and I attempt to serve Him better every day of our life.
