Narrows Community Theater promised to keep looking for ways to bring young performers together, and they've succeeded. They're thrilled to announce the NCT Youth Ensemble, a brand new performance opportunity for children 8 to 18. And they've got calls coming up, calls for your audition calls, I should say. You can join NCT to sing, dance, perform musical theater favorites at various community events, street fairs, and more this summer and into fall. It's a wonderful way to make friends on stage, keep sharpening your skills, and develop new performance goals. The call is open to young performers. You can do that. The 68th Precinct Youth Council's Fall Soccer Registration is open. Games will take place on Saturdays and Sundays between September through November. The Brooklyn Cyclones are hosting Party P A W T Y at the ballpark at Maimonides Park, formerly Key Span Park, if for those who are around since 2001, 1904 Surf Avenue, Thursday, July 23rd at 6 p.m. The feature film will be The Secret Life of Pets. Pets are much welcome. That's the point. $10 for human entrance, $15 at the box office if you go there the day of, and you get to bring two doggies with you for that ticket. One big classes in course event happening this week that I want to tell you about. Pure Life Movement is hosting Matt Pilates with the Littles on Thursday, July 16th, and next Thursday, July 23rd at 10:30 a.m. for ages three months to four years old. This is actually the second and third week of a three-week course, but the drop in price is $28. The playful class combines core strengthening, posture and mobility work, interactive parent-child movement, music, games, playful activities, social time for parents and children. One big highlight this week here in Bay Ridge. And it's an important one. It's one that if you own a small business anywhere in Bay Ridge or really New York City, you're going to know about, which is the Roll Down Gate Law Pass. So the city passed a law requiring businesses to install see-through security gates by July of this year. Now, because the legislation passed last week, businesses will now be required to do that, unfortunately. However, our local people that are in power here, our council people and others, have at least gotten fines to be postponed, it seems indefinitely right now. So, businesses, unfortunately, you're going to have to make those changes, but at least you won't pay the fines in the meantime. Small victories, I guess. Sorry to bear that news to you, but that is the major community alert going on right now that's new for this week. There are all kinds of other community alerts that I've already talked about in the previous weeks that are still active right now. Once they're filled, they'd love to have a group of members volunteered to keep the planners maintained on an ongoing basis. This would just be a volunteer sign-up club. It's not like a course or anything like that, but something that people can do long term and enjoy. Now, if you do that, you might also have an opportunity to assist with presentations or help support activities at the Narrows Botanical Garden if needed. And by the way, Jimmy Johnson and the rest of the Narrows Botanical Garden crew are always looking for people who are interested in gardening and botanics. So reach out to them as well. Red Bull Chinese Restaurant has been closed for the last couple weeks, 8518 Third Avenue for summer recess, summer vacation. Well, they reopen this Wednesday, July 15th. The Fort Hamilton Distillery and Tasting Room that's over in Industry City, 6834 Building 6. They'll be hosting free World Cup watch parties from July 14th through July 19th for the semifinals and finals of the World Cup. There's no cover charge.
