McGirt v Oklahoma and Indian Nations Sovereignty
Ian Gershengorn, former Acting Solicitor General of the United States and Professor Barbara Creel speak to us about the recent Supreme Court case, McGirt v. Oklahoma. Gershengorn served as Jimcy McGirt's attorney and offers his experience in preparing and presenting the case. We discuss case strategy and the opinion delivered by Justice Gorsuch.
Professor Creel, a member of the Pueblo of Jemez, has also served as an assistant federal public defender and brings her expertise in Indian Country criminal defense to our discussion. We discuss the petition brought forward by Jimcy McGirt, Indian sovereignty and the potential impact of this decision.
