Grad school. It's a huge commitment and it's a different experience for everyone. When I was doing research, I didn't feel like I was involved enough or as smart as them to be doing research. And so I kind of thought, you know, is that for me? Am I smart enough to be doing research? Am I organized enough to be doing research? you know, having one of my online classes and trying to blur my background. But then at the back, my kids are doing gymnastics, my two younger daughters, and like one of them, like, fell and knocked stuff over. And it's like, what are you guys doing? Do you not see what? there's the fear of failure, but there's also the fear of success. Because when I do succeed, what if I can't maintain that? Students come from different backgrounds and they bring different life experiences So I had already applied to the program when I had found out that I was pregnant. Granted, this was all part of my master plan about how I can do everything. Sure. Why not? Back home, you have this, support network. And then now to come and it's like you wash your own dishes, you have to cook. I have to do all the drop offs and pickups, In my gap year, I worked in environmental education. I worked at a zoo, and, I worked at a for county conservation board in Iowa. And I felt like, yeah, I do have a place in the space of conservation and science and, you know, education. wherever they come from and whatever program they choose to pursue. Every graduate student has a story. Three degrees explores the places where those stories intersect.
