Welcome to the Trevor Buck Podcast, episode 47. This episode is sponsored by Rhombus Lumber. If it ain't square, but it's there. Or it might not be there. I'm still waiting for this one by four white tongue and groove cedar, but hey, where are you at, Ned?
SPEAKER_00I'm I'm between Amasaw.
SPEAKER_02Okay, explain that in English.
SPEAKER_00So so on 141 between Coving Covington and Crystal Falls, there's a town called Amasaw.
SPEAKER_02How do you spell that?
SPEAKER_00A M-A-S-A.
SPEAKER_02Huh.
SPEAKER_00So the legend goes, well, it's not a legend, it's a true story. Okay. There was this guy, this trucker that uh one of the one of his boss would call him, and if he was on this stretch of road, it's like a 35-mile stretch, he would uh he would ask him where are you at? He he would tell him he's between Amasa.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that's great. So hey, it's it's been a little while. You've uh you haven't been jumping on, but um give us an update on the winter weather up there. I've seen uh you shared some snow blowing pictures, but you guys got bombed this winter, eh?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, it's uh it's been a little bit bipolar lately. It was I got home from Florida on Thursday. It was you know well, I got home Thursday night, so it was cooling off. My whole driveway was ice. Then what was it yesterday, Friday? So we had freezing rain, then six inches of snow on top of that, and today it's beautiful, so huh. So it's gonna thaw out for today and tomorrow, and that's supposed to get down to freezing again. But it was nice to get a break in the weather.
SPEAKER_02When uh I'm tired of it. When Zeb made his trip up there, he shared a video. He said you guys are gonna have snow till like July.
SPEAKER_00I know. I know. Unless we get some really warm weather, it's gonna take a long time to melt.
SPEAKER_02We got flowers blooming out here. We got daffodils and forsethia, and the trees are blooming. It's epic.
unknownOh yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I keep uh I might have to make a trip out there and get my truck from Andy. Well, that would be epic, and bring bring that uh one by four seater. That'd be perfect. Did everything bring it to you? No. Oh, that's awesome. That's awesome. So, how was your Florida trip?
SPEAKER_00Oh, it was gorgeous.
SPEAKER_02Where'd you go? What part what part of Florida were you in?
SPEAKER_00Went and saw my mom and dad in Port Charlotte.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Nice weather.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Jake, my brother Jake and his wife and kids were there from Alaska.
SPEAKER_02That's awesome.
SPEAKER_00Got to see them.
SPEAKER_02Good deal.
SPEAKER_00Yep, so then you I didn't do much. I I went and watched uh uh Tigers spring training.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah. Where was that at?
SPEAKER_00Straight in Port Charlotte.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So that that's where they do their uh spring training there?
SPEAKER_00No, actually Tampa Bay does their spring training there, and Detroit was playing Tampa Bay.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00I think there was more Tigers fans there than Tampa Bay fans.
SPEAKER_02Well, you got the uh the snowbirds trying to get out of Minnes or Michigan for the winter, getting down there.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. No, they're pretty cool. Yeah, dude they did that up there.
SPEAKER_00None of their Yeah, like none of their big name players were playing. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02No, they do that up here too. I think Mariners trained down in Peoria, Arizona, so a lot of people try to get out of the w winter up here and head down there. But yeah. No, that's awesome.
unknownOh yeah.
SPEAKER_02So then you uh got you were excited to get home and start logging again.
SPEAKER_00Uh well, I haven't gotten logging again.
SPEAKER_02What do you mean?
SPEAKER_00I was I was going to Friday, yeah, but um I messaged Joe in the morning and he wasn't getting back to me and wasn't getting back to me, and uh it's like I my buddy Chad messaged me and says, Hey, the truck's loaded for you if you want to go. So I went and hauled a load of wood for it.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. Hey, um, have you talked to Joe?
SPEAKER_00No, actually I haven't talked to him.
SPEAKER_02He I wonder if he was down at Con Expo.
SPEAKER_00No, that was uh Dalen.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I thought yeah, I thought maybe Joe went down there too.
SPEAKER_00So Joe wouldn't go down at Con Expo.
SPEAKER_02Oh, he wouldn't?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean I guess he I mean I I if a company sent him down there and paid for it, but he wouldn't he wouldn't go down there just for kicks.
SPEAKER_02Rhombus Lumber wouldn't send him there?
SPEAKER_00No, not this year. Yeah, yeah. We couldn't get everything unburied out of the snow in time to get it on the Con Expo. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02We were gonna do an exhibit, but can't feed a snow. Gita went down there. He met up with uh Peter Tappio at the show. That was awesome.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's what he told me. Yeah, that's awesome. How did he know it was Pete?
SPEAKER_02Uh I I think I had shared their their contacts. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Pete was uh representing Trevor Buck down at Con X, but it was awesome. It was so awesome. He was going around to all these exhibitors, hey Trevor Buck. It was great. It was awesome.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. So did Pete have an exhibit down there?
SPEAKER_02No, no, he's just he's just in that industry and he's staying on top of equipment and blah blah blah. You probably go see what the latest and greatest machinery is. I would like to go maybe next year.
SPEAKER_00It would be cool.
SPEAKER_02It'd be super cool. I think it's every three years, so yeah.
SPEAKER_00Every three?
SPEAKER_02Every three years, yep.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, if I wasn't building this house, this house is an epic excuse for everything. I get to escape everything.
SPEAKER_00I know. You you haven't been doing anything for that house.
SPEAKER_02I'm starting to resent this house. I hate this thing.
SPEAKER_00Just sell it as is. You don't need a house. All they do is pin you down.
SPEAKER_02I know. Then when when it's done, I'm gonna be like, no, I can't go. I gotta stay home and mow the lawn.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. I gotta weed my garden.
SPEAKER_02I gotta clean my gutters.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But hey, uh I want to look into uh the hunting regulations up there. And I want to see if uh when bow season is, but it would be awesome if you and Zeb came over. We sat on my back patio and we shot a few deer right off the back patio.
unknownOh yeah.
SPEAKER_02With with bows. I don't want to shoot guns because there's neighbors like, you know, within a few miles, but it'd be epic to plunk a couple with bows.
SPEAKER_00Can we bait them with massive cornpiles?
SPEAKER_02That's frowned upon out here.
SPEAKER_00Is it legal though?
SPEAKER_02I don't think so. No, no, no, it's it's illegal. You get busted.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. Well, I just get a kick out of people that rip on the UP for baiting because then it it's probably one of the hardest places ever to hunt if you don't bait. You know, and there are there are people that do it without baiting, but we have so little deer, and uh like I mean your longest shot you're ever gonna get with a bow is forty to fifty yards, you know, or even a gun most times.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But that's that's hardly hunting. That's hardly hunting when you're just baiting and sitting in a tree stand. I'd be embarrassed to even talk about it.
SPEAKER_00But you still, you know, you're that close to the deer, and you still have to draw back without them noticing. They have to get in there without smelling you. Because like the big deer, they know like if there's a bait pile, they know there's a human around, obviously, right? Right. So they'll they'll circle, you know. A lot of times you'll just that deer will come close and you'll just never see them.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00They'll come in, um, you know, circle your bait pile out a hundred yards or so, and if they smell you, they're just gone.
SPEAKER_02So that's pretty challenging.
SPEAKER_00And and uh to do it without bait, you just have to be so patient, you know.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00You in other parts of the uh world where ninety percent of your deer population doesn't die off in a winter because you have three hundred and fifty inches of snow, you know, there there's so many deer, your chances of just seeing a deer walk by are good, you know?
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00But up here it's yeah, I don't I don't have the patience for it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't either. I have a question for you though. So when you when you shoot a deer and then you eat the the meat, what do you call the meat?
SPEAKER_00Venison.
SPEAKER_02What what is that what what's that word even mean?
SPEAKER_00I deer meat.
SPEAKER_02I know, but when you catch a fish, you eat fish.
SPEAKER_00That's a good point. I'm gonna have to look into that. You're gonna have to Yeah, but if you kill a cow, you eat beef. Okay.
SPEAKER_02So the origination of the word, I don't know, but if you kill a chicken, you eat chicken.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02Venison's a dumb word. Yeah, I'd like to know who came up with that word and never thought of that. That's that's brilliant. You should you should look into that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Venison's not not good anyway.
SPEAKER_02Is it really not?
SPEAKER_00I don't like it.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it's really good for you. It's super lean, there's no fat in it, but I mean, when there's no fat, there's no flavor, the back straps are unbelievable. The tender lines.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00But other than that, not a fan of it.
SPEAKER_02Have you been playing hockey?
SPEAKER_00No, I played once this year.
SPEAKER_02You were gonna get back into it with the speckies.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was gonna go full time, but I never got a specys jersey, so I just hung it up.
SPEAKER_02Well, I wanted to uh wait until you're proved your point, not just once.
SPEAKER_00I needed I needed an excuse to play to go show off my jersey. I mean, If I get you if I get to go show off my skills, they all know I'm NHL caliber, you know. If I get you one, you I just wanted to show off a jersey.
SPEAKER_02If I get you one, will you play regularly?
SPEAKER_00Uh if I move somewhere warm and it's I don't have to go outside in the freezing cold, I would.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that is awesome. Hey, the uh the the Houghton Gremlins. Shout out the Gremlins. Huh? What do you have to say about that?
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_02Isn't that cool?
SPEAKER_00Didn't really follow them. Um they were uh they were turning it turning into a really good team by the end of the season. Right. Yeah, they pulled it off.
SPEAKER_02Pretty cool. Take that, Andy Mac.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, take that, Andy. Go go cry to your uh downstate team.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I love it.
SPEAKER_00Maybe Andy should go coach them downstate teams so they can win some state championships.
SPEAKER_02They should, but I do think that the Minnesota high school hockey is better than Michigan.
SPEAKER_01I do prove it.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, just look at their uh the YouTube Minnesota Hair Channel. They got the hockey hair, the hockey hair YouTube channel? That's epic. They don't do that in Michigan.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh we're too modest for that. Oh, right. Right. Right.
SPEAKER_02How about uh USA winning the Olympics with what, eight, eight guys from Michigan on the team?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02That was pretty good. But you know what? What?
SPEAKER_00They didn't they didn't let Russia play, so I don't even care. Oh, really? Don't it don't count?
SPEAKER_02Right. I like this. Tell me more about it.
SPEAKER_00Well, they didn't let them play. I it doesn't count.
SPEAKER_02I know, but they're in a war.
SPEAKER_00So so are we. Exactly.
SPEAKER_02Who's making these rules?
SPEAKER_00Right. Exactly, huh?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, it would have been nice, it would have been nice to see Russia there, because uh I like Ovi.
SPEAKER_00Uh he's you know why he would have made the team just because uh of his legendary scorer. Right. He doesn't deserve to be on it anymore. Yes, he does. No. He's uh he's a one-dimensional player that stands in the top of the circle and takes one timer.
SPEAKER_02He snipes.
SPEAKER_00I mean, his yeah, his plus-minus is probably negative, I would imagine. Because he's a liability on the ice. He's not like Theo Fleury, like that guy could do it all.
SPEAKER_02Right? So Theo Theo played a two-way game.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I don't know. He was just the best there is. Uh you can't be 5'6 or 5'7 in that league, especially in that era where there was clutching and grabbing and hooking, all that was just totally legal.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00And still put up 150 points a season and not be the most talented player in the league.
SPEAKER_02Right. Theo's way better than McDavid.
SPEAKER_00Oh, easily.
SPEAKER_02Could you imagine McDavid playing in those at that era? He'd have the LeBron crying face the whole game.
SPEAKER_00He would. He would. He'd just be laying on the ice. They're picking on me. Uh begging the NHL to change the rules for him. Right. Like they did for Crosby.
SPEAKER_02Oh, so hey, I have something I need to ask you. You you weren't a big fan of uh the direction the podcast was going. Too much business stuff.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. No, I mean I get it. It's awesome. They get their exposure and everything.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Like, I'm I'm not uh I don't live on the West Coast, and I'm not I'm not doing business with those people, so to me it wasn't interesting.
SPEAKER_02Well, you started the business stuff by sponsoring episode one with Rhombus Lumber.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, but there's still no actual rhombus lumber.
SPEAKER_02It was it was business driven from episode one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, these guys, these guys actually have legit businesses. We're just a fake business uh with a model. You know, because we made uh rhombus lumber.
SPEAKER_02You know, one one guy that came on the pod, he told me, he said, hey, just to be honest, when you first started this pod, I hated it. And I said, why? He goes, because I hate hockey and I hate the UP. He said, All the all the youpers out here in Washington, all they can talk about how great the UP is. He's like, Well, move back there then.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, none of you live here, and here I am living here, and it's the last place on earth I want to be. Especially I mean, I love the summers, obviously, but oh the winters are awful.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but between the summer then you got mosquitoes.
SPEAKER_00Right, yeah, exactly. That's it. You just sit there and think of how nice the summer is gonna be. Then you're sitting there in the summer getting eaten by mosquitoes.
SPEAKER_02So does the does the heavy snowpack does that affect the mosquitoes? Like, does that keep them at bay or does that make them worse?
SPEAKER_00Uh I don't know. I mean, it all depends like how long the water sits around.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um because uh you know they they lay their eggs in those pools.
[Ad] The Fresh Patch Podcast - Where Good Pets Get It.
SPEAKER_02I know, but if they're 350 inches of snow, they might not be able to lay their eggs till who knows when.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I don't know. All I know is there there no matter what happens, there's never any less mosquitoes in a substantial. Okay, okay, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02They're all the same.
SPEAKER_00Pretty modern. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02So you are you done uh snowblown for the year?
SPEAKER_00Uh I snowblowed yesterday.
SPEAKER_02Right? You didn't send me a video.
SPEAKER_00Just because I was bored.
SPEAKER_02You're chucking chucking snow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I probably didn't really need to snowblow because it was supposed to be 40 uh today and tomorrow, but you know, like the old youper say, you need the new snow to melt the old snow. Where they came up with that, I don't know, but what a dumb saying.
SPEAKER_02That's a cool saying. I I like youper sayings. You got any others?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know that if you drink coffee in the sauna, it helps to keep you cool.
SPEAKER_02Does it really work?
SPEAKER_00I could I uh I bet it does, eh?
SPEAKER_02Hey, we gotta we gotta talk about this. Um, your your sauna shorts. They worked pretty epic in Florida for swim trunks, too, eh?
SPEAKER_00Oh man, yeah, they are. They're awesome.
SPEAKER_02Aren't those good?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Dual my wife, my wife thought I would have to wear my manchini under them because they'd be see-through, but I went with all.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that is awesome. Yeah, thanks, thanks for supporting down in Florida. That was epic. So is is that was where where was that pool at?
SPEAKER_00That's at my aunt's house down there.
SPEAKER_02That looks awesome. I could just hang out there for a week.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's that's pretty much all we did. Yeah, I mean, we went to the beach one time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Not a not a fan of the salt water.
SPEAKER_02You don't care for saltwater?
SPEAKER_00No. It just you get all sticky and gross.
SPEAKER_02Saltwater rules. It does.
SPEAKER_00That gives it tastes like crap.
SPEAKER_02No, it gives you surfer hair.
SPEAKER_00Oh well, I don't have any hair, so it don't help me at all. The stuff tastes awful. It burns your eyes. But it was nice and cool.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that was awesome.
SPEAKER_00It felt like like Lake Superior on a warm Lake Superior day.
SPEAKER_02What's the uh what's the closest beach there where you were staying? What'd you say that was Port Port Orford? Port Port Charlotte.
SPEAKER_00Port Charlotte.
SPEAKER_02Where's Port Orford?
SPEAKER_00Orford, I don't know. Somewhere in your imagination.
SPEAKER_02I think that's in Washington somewhere. Port Charlotte.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. So so Port Charlotte's on the Charlotte Harbor, which is it's a huge harbor, but it's there's not really beaches on it.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, we probably have to drive like twenty miles.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. That's not bad.
SPEAKER_00So Polca Grande or Englewood or Port Myers or Okay. It's not too terrible far from Sarasota.
SPEAKER_02Okay, now are you on the uh Atlantic side or the Bay side?
SPEAKER_00The Gulf side.
SPEAKER_02Okay, the Gulf side. What do they call that? The Gulf of America?
SPEAKER_00The Gulf of America, yeah.
SPEAKER_02That was a little uh controversial there.
SPEAKER_00A little bit, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I don't know why it's controversial. I mean it could be both, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, who cares? People just like making up drama over stuff that doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, or else just making up stupid stuff that doesn't matter to create drama.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. Yep, yep.
SPEAKER_00Uh so what else is new, John? How's the house going?
SPEAKER_02Um I finally got my electrical signed off. So I hopefully I get my uh interior panel energized this week. And then uh shout out Kevin with Country Restoration. He's gonna come on and put in some uh heaters or fans or whatever he does because he's a specialist at drying stuff out. Okay. So we gotta make sure the wood is nice and dry, and then we're gonna insulate and drywall and hopefully it's on the downhill from there. Sick of this thing.
SPEAKER_00Um dehumidify the house before insulating and drywalling. I suppose. Is it because of the rain or what?
SPEAKER_02Well, it was it was pretty wet when uh they framed in December. The the wood was wet. We did measure the moisture content, and I think it was at like 18%. And I think they like to get it to like 10% moisture content. Really? I but that's what I understand. Okay. So, and then uh they're gonna spray foam the the roof deck. And I think that that's pretty um sensitive to moisture, that stuff.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02If it's if it's too uh too wet, I think it just traps it in, and then your roof just molds, I think. Or rots or whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, I would imagine.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So, um, yeah, and I still have a few little things to do. I had a couple of nephews come up last Saturday. They're awesome dudes, young, energetic, and uh they're into tech. So they started pulling uh data cables while we're telling me what they can do with data cabling these days. Oh, that was so funny. So uh so one of so one of them, I tell him, I said, Kate, when you get home, send me your setup. Because I had helped him wire his house. And uh so he sends me the picture of his closet. He's got like this I mean, a full-blown network rack in his closet.
SPEAKER_00I thought wires were becoming obsolete. What's up with that?
SPEAKER_02I think wire is always better. I mean, you can do wireless anything, but I think uh a wired system is always better.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I mean it's definitely more uh what we more reliable.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. So uh no, who knows? So we're I we pulled some uh data cables in, who knows what I end up if I finish it out or not. But it's got uh fiber internet to the house, kind of like DH up there up there on the UP, yep.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you're you guys are catching up to the UP finally. Finally.
SPEAKER_02Oh, shoot. So no, and I think there's a few cameras you can uh hook up to the network or whatever, but we'll we'll see what happens.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah, then you just need to get rid of that house so you can be a fun guy again.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. Stay in the hood.
SPEAKER_00Right. Yeah, just go do fun stuff, have someone mow your tiny little lawn that doesn't hardly exist, and you just go do fun things.
SPEAKER_02That wasn't so bad, was it?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_02I know. When uh yesterday I did a podcast with uh shout out the listen line, and Charla told me, I told her I said I need to go after we were done, I said I need to go up to the house and do some things. And she kind of implemented that it was about time I start adulting in my life.
SPEAKER_00So she knows me, so never, never start adulting. It's so boring.
SPEAKER_02Right? Yeah Yeah, I'm I'm fighting it, but yeah, it is what it is.
SPEAKER_00I saw that uh that podcast you did, and I I meant to listen to it, but which one? Because uh the the helpline one?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it comes out this week. Oh, okay. And it's it's it's a really cool story um in the service that they provide, and uh they're actually doing an auction and businesses help fund it, but no, it's it's a super cool service. So yeah, that that comes out this week. I still got to edit it, but I was uh it was a nice conversation, and they uh they're passionate about helping people. And uh and that's one thing about this podcast. If you're passionate about something, come on and talk about it. I mean, I don't care if you're passionate about collecting pine cones, come on and tell your story. I don't care, it's awesome.
SPEAKER_00I'm passionate about hating winter, and uh Cleve's sister was ripping on me for it. She works on it over there at Fast and Stuff, uh ripping on me about hating winter, so she can just screw right off. Because I believe she's down in Florida right now because she can't handle the winter either.
SPEAKER_02So Oh, I love the youper smack talk. I'm gonna try to get uh Nolan back on today because he said he had a few things he needed to refute with you guys, so this is great.
SPEAKER_00I wanted to listen to the Nolan one because I don't I don't ever take notes, you know. Okay, sure. I had a few things that I had to talk to Nolan set him straight on. Of course, I can't think of them right now. Right.
SPEAKER_02Well, you better think of them because I'm gonna try to get him to come on. We'll do a a double episode. I love this.
SPEAKER_00Uh you know, I I need to start taking notes, but I could never my whole life I could never take notes. So how am I gonna how am I ever gonna do it now?
SPEAKER_02Oh, this is a good thing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there was a there was a few rebuttals I had for Nolan.
SPEAKER_02You can't think of them. I can't. He was I know one of them was he was talking about how you guys do your uh uh smelt fishing or bait fishing. He's like, there's no skill in that. He's like fly fishing, he's gotta pick the perfect fly and the perfect, you know.
SPEAKER_00It's like Yeah. Uh he's never gone to a river with uh so full of smelt you can't even carry the uh net out.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00That takes some skill to get your net full of smelt out of the river.
SPEAKER_02Do you do you have those up there?
unknownOh yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh you do? Okay. So they they just ran here about three weeks ago up up the river here, and it was it was a big thing. People were dipping them. Yeah. And then right behind them were the sea lines coming from the ocean following the smelt up the river. And there was there was hundreds of sea lions. It was pretty cool. And then following the smelt, of course, were the bald eagles, and it was it was cool.
SPEAKER_00Right?
SPEAKER_02It was super cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we used to have such massive smelt runs up there. Like they would uh people would just fill up the back of a pickup. I've heard stories of people going uh like filling up the back of a pickup and like go going downtown and opening their tailgate, take off squealing and a whole pickup load of smelt on the on the street, you know.
SPEAKER_02What the world? But that's a youper youper right there, huh? Right.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, there there used to be so many that they didn't care how many you took, but then that the smelt run, it really died off for many years. You couldn't hardly get any.
SPEAKER_02Okay. What what do they do? Are they just bait or peop people eat them, or what do you do with smelt?
SPEAKER_00No, people eat 'em. Okay. They're really good, actually.
SPEAKER_02Smoke them or what? They're pretty.
SPEAKER_00No, you just pan fry 'em.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but they're tiny. You got 'em? I know, you just eat them whole.
SPEAKER_00Got 'em, cut the head off, and cook 'em.
SPEAKER_02Okay, huh. We'll have to try smelt sometime.
SPEAKER_00I haven't I haven't had it in many years. Right? Yeah, when we were when we were younger and they used to run good. We used to eat 'em.
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh. Have you uh have you had any Nisu lately?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02No? What's up with that?
SPEAKER_00Uh Shelby hasn't been making it.
SPEAKER_02She's slackened.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, she is. Last last she made it was Christmas time.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00She made made it for Christmas gifts for people.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, yeah. It's kind of a special holiday bread thing.
SPEAKER_00Uh not really. It just makes a good gift.

Just basically just snow piles from when it had snowed, but so yeah, up here we're I think I think like the the totals aren't above average, but what's on the ground is above average.

SPEAKER_02It's crazy. I've seen that video, Trevor. Some of those houses are just like they're socked in.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. Yeah. My buddy in Caliman had to shovel his roof six times this winter. Wow.
SPEAKER_02That's a lot of work.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Right.

unknownNo.

SPEAKER_02Oh, you are?

SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I have to really uh test my self-control around donuts and stuff. Yeah. I don't have much of it.
