The overwhelming success of Fiddler on the Roof was the universal theme of the story that all of us can relate to: Family - good or otherwise, we all have one.  Tradition - and its resistance to change. Conflict between parents and what they think is best for their children and what the children feel they need.  The unknown of leaving home - whether by choice or force. The anguish of loss.  And our personal relationship with our God.
