In the realm of Classical Crossover, the album Days of Future Passed was one of the first in Rock to be recorded in Stereo and the first to be recorded with a Symphony orchestra. This approach to arranging music has become popular enough in the last few years that it now is classified as the sub-genre — Classical Crossover — a style that employs full orchestral arrangements to Pop and Rock songs.
This is Acoustic Avenue. I'm Ted Crouch, your host in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, with co-producer Joe Little in Calgary, Alberta. On Acoustic Avenue, we recognize with respect and gratitude that these lands where we live, work, and make our music remain home to a number of indigenous nations and people. We acknowledge this land out of respect for the indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of the settler peoples until this day. SPEAKER_01While I will be there is a more modern ballad performed by classical crossover artist Katie Malua with a focus on themes of love and commitment.

SPEAKER_01Classical crossover music can be performed by a diversity of artists, including classically trained musicians, pop artists, vocalists with a background in other genres. The genre has seen the emergence of crossover artists who were trained in vocal classical hand. And we ended with the two main songwriters for the Moody Blues, Justin Hayward and John Lodge with Winters and Years from their debut album, Ludio. Their style was taken from their Moody Blues album that we mentioned earlier in this show, The Days of Future Past.

SPEAKER_01These hits often feature a fusion of styles and appeal to a broad demographic. We hope you've enjoyed today's program and gained an appreciation for this new genre of music. We want to leave you with two songs that we are sure you will be familiar with hits from the rock world that are equally as popular as classical crossover songs. Here is House of the Rising Sun by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and Stairway to Heaven, which was performed by Anne and Nancy Wilson from Hart at the Kennedy Centre Honors for Legends.

Makes me wonder. There's a feeling I get when I look to the west, and my spirit is crying for me. In my thoughts, I see rings of smoke through the trees, and the voices of those who stands me wonder.
