Something to Talk About continues our North American journey showcasing some fabulously talented musicians and songwriters, inspired by a Bonnie Raitt classic that was written by Canadian Shirley Eikhard.

You're listening to acoustic avenues. On acoustic avenue, we recognize with respect and gratitude in the future. The land on which we live work and play our music is the unfeeded traditional territory of the people. Louis Allen Lou Reed, an American rock musician, songwriter, and photographer, known as guitarist vocalist, and principal songwriter of the Velvet Underground. And for his following career spanned several decades. Reed wrote about subjects of personal experience that rarely had been examined. So openly in rock and roll, including sexuality and drug culture. Studio album Growing Up in Public. Reed, who wrote the song with his keyboardist, Canadian Michael von Farah, who is also a member of Electric Flag, rhinoceros, rough trade and the down child blues man. The opening said we'll close with David Crosby, a counterculture icon who faced mortality with grace. He said, It's not how much time you've got, because we really don't know. It's what you do with the time that you have. I'm trying to really defend it well, and very grateful for each day that I get. And I try to do it making music, because I think the world needs music. From his eighth and final studio album for free, I hear the song River Ride. And to open the show is Willie Nile from Buffalo, New York, a seasoned performer who toured five cities in his community during the summer of 2022. We listened to Vagabond Moon, the opening song from his self-titled album. The album immediately created a bad among critics and quickly drew the attention of other rock stars such as Pete Town and who invited Nile to join them on their summer of 1980 U.S. tour. What a great way to launch a musical career and to start today's program. Here is Willie Nile, Lou Reed, and David Crosby.

Danny Michelle is a veteran vinyl cafe performer. And one of his songs land on the playlist for the Planner released by the David Suzuki Foundation and performed for Dr. Jane Goodall in her 85th birthday party in Rhode Ontario, Canada. One of his most recent recordings from 2022 called on yourself. Matthews is using her voice to answer Dr. Martin Luther King's call to be a drum major for justice. From her current album, Changemakers will open this set with Hope Revolution. As Matthews says, now that you're here, we've got some things to talk about.

I've seen so many flags flying high, some were raining for pride, some were for saving black lives, and some were almost to the war long lost the last time he tried to rise. But I haven't seen the red, white and black for a while. Yeah, I've seen so many flags flying high. Some were red, black, and green. For celebrating June 18th. Some were signs of respect to the few, proud and brave, and keep us free. But I haven't seen the red, white and black lately. This country of mine hasn't felt much like itself. Until the promise of her colours was back within our reach. Then that star spangled at her. She was aligned in every street. It was a hope, revolution. We the people and the future of our choosing it was a love revelation. Justice for all, indivisible, one nation. The words power to our past. Our democracy under attack. Never thought I'd see the red, white, and blue do that. Oh, this country of mine hasn't felt much like itself. It's no wonder so many own glory on the shelf. And to the promise of her color was back within our reach. She was aligned in every street. Justice for all individuals. Perseverance and justice. Vigilance and valor. That's why we were dancing and marching as those dark battles scattered. There was glass everywhere from all the ceilings shattered. It was the first time in a long time that felt like it mattered what those colours stood for. We the people in the future of our choosing in was a revelation.
