SPEAKER_00

The year of the horse. This is the day two manifest. Do you know anything about this?

SPEAKER_03

Is that a girl?

SPEAKER_00

No, it's a it's like a kind of male horse thing. Like today's like the Chinese New Year, and the whole past year was the year of the snake. So you're like shedding old skin, bad relationships, whatever. It's day is the first. Right? That's what I've been saying.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, it's Deb. It's Happy Hour, Deb, and man, I got my new friend here, Justin Savo. Welcome to Happy Hour.

SPEAKER_03

Good to see you.

SPEAKER_01

Sitting next to you, I brought you a beautiful blonde. Thank you. That's Emily. I needed that. Thank you. That made your day, right? I'm like, yeah, well, let me let me make all the men in Nashville happy. Let me bring Emily to the show. Y'all are so sweet. She's as beautiful inside as she is outside.

SPEAKER_03

So how are you? I'm good. I feel like we've been friends for grew up here, so I'm Yeah, you're you're used to the chaos.

SPEAKER_01

Unicorn. Yeah, you are unicorn.

SPEAKER_03

That's what everybody says.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because it's so uh yesterday I had an Uber driver um bringing me from the airport to the hotel. And she's like, I live here, I've been here. And she said, Do you live? Are you just you know coming to check? I go, No, I actually work here. She goes, You get paid for doing that? I'm like, that's funny, right? I go with podcast hosts, I work in music, she's like, That's a paying job. I'm like, Yeah, yeah, it really is only in America. Yeah, so how are you? We've been buddies, we've been texting and talking and and now.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, stuff's been going well. We just dropped a new song, What Should Wanna, on I think two weeks ago.

SPEAKER_01

So really and how's it going?

SPEAKER_03

It's going well. I've been snacking up on content, getting back to the kind of like the 2017 rap vibe. So it's been cool.

SPEAKER_01

Is that where your inspiration comes from? Oh yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Who's your favorite?

SPEAKER_03

Juice World.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Wow. Do you make music videos to go along?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah, we do. Me and my producer know we do. We usually do we don't ever really have somebody shoot for us, but if we do want something like big, we'll probably do it. But yeah, we do everything ourselves.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you can use Mitch too, because he's good. He's got this kick-ass studio there, too.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's awesome.

SPEAKER_01

So when did you decide music was for you?

SPEAKER_03

Let's see. I went to college for a year right before COVID. I was playing baseball.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, COVID is like the is like the change.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, it was it was weird. It was a weird time, but yeah. Um came back. Guess it was around December time, and then I was playing baseball, and then baseball kind of stopped, so I wasn't really doing anything. And I started listening to Juice World a lot, had kind of been listening to him. And I was like, you know what, I might as well give it a try. First session did not go well, but yeah. Well, you gotta get your feet wet. I just kept coming back, that was the only thing.

SPEAKER_01

That's so beautiful. We've been talking about that like all day today about the power if we don't give up.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's it.

SPEAKER_01

We gotta keep going.

SPEAKER_03

It sounds corny, but I mean it's true.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's a hundred percent true. I'm from Texas. We don't believe in raising quitters. Oh, yeah. We don't raise quitters instead of it.

SPEAKER_03

A complainer, not a quitter.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_03

I'll complain, but I'll do it. That's right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So did you always have a love for music when you were young?

SPEAKER_03

Honestly, no. My dad wanted me to get in the band and do stuff, but I never really had interest. I was so focused on baseball.

SPEAKER_00

So your dad had a band card?

SPEAKER_03

No, he wanted me to get in the band. He wanted me to get a band or do something, yeah. But he wanted me to learn an instrument.

SPEAKER_01

So that's a pretty cool dad. I wanted my daughter to be a brain surgeon.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he's cool. He did. As much as he loved baseball, he always wanted me to play an instrument.

SPEAKER_01

So that's so funny. I wanted my daughter to be a brain surgeon. She was like, it's my life, I'll do what I want.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, now when I talk about music, he's just like, if I talk about to someone else while he's there, he just tells them how good of a singer he is, so it's funny.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh, that is so funny.

SPEAKER_03

He's hilarious.

SPEAKER_01

So you just decided, like, after one semester of college, you're just gonna go in all in in music.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

How'd you find your way? Because this is a city with a lot of talent.

SPEAKER_03

It is. I kind of just fell off on the place, really. The girl I'm with now, um, a guy was living at her. That would be called a girlfriend, just a girlfriend. Yes, my girlfriend.

SPEAKER_01

We know that we have anything. He's gonna look back and be like, who the hell is that woman?

SPEAKER_03

That's good enough for her. It's been a long time. Right, it's okay, right. But um, we went to the same high school. She went to high school with this kid. We were friends. He ended up staying at her house for a long time, wasn't at his house, and then he was actually best friends with Noah. So I met him, told him that I was doing music and stuff, and he was like, Well, I know this guy, I just go hang out with him and uh sit in the studios in during sessions. This is when Sound Studios is really small, so yeah, it was cool.

SPEAKER_01

Wait, somebody tell me, was it you guys talking to? Somebody tell me now they have Sound Studios in Walmarts.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that it is a it's it's like uh it's not a Sound Studios. That's no, that's what he started. That's his business. Okay. But it is in Walmart. I don't know, I think it's like Sound, it's something studio. It's not Sound Studios, but it's something, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Crazy. Does that blow your mind?

SPEAKER_03

It's weird. I saw I saw it the other day. I went into a Walmart that had it, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, I would get a bag of tomatoes and a case of Diet Coke and I'd sit there all day long.

SPEAKER_00

Do you remember, like, at least for me when I was younger, you used to be able to go into Walmart and like buy live lobster at two o'clock in the morning. I've been seeing these memes about this, and I'm like, I forgot that this was a day and an age and I was there for it. You know, you used to be able to go to Walmart and get you a lot. Maybe this is a South Florida thing.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, I'm gonna tell this on air and then we're gonna get back to your thing. Okay, so I you know, I'm from Texas where Walmarts are bougie, and people go to Walmart for everything. In Philadelphia. That's where I went to college. Oh, yes, I know. We talked about that. You don't you you go to Walmart, you get what you need, and you get the fuck out. Yeah, that's what you do. No, okay. The time before that, I saw a man holding a rotisserie chicken, eating it as he was walking.

SPEAKER_03

Hey, nothing wrong with that. I like the little popcorn chicken thing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, okay. You can do it, but grown ass big man, he shouldn't be doing that shit. And then wait, did he have a fork or was he just like, no, no, it's his fingers. The rotisserie bear. And then he had a tank tab on, which of course he did. Of course he did. Nobody had a wife beater. And and then last week I went, I'm a grandmom, and I know what you're thinking. How could she be 29 and be a grandmother? Right, thanks so much. And that's what I've been doing. Did Emily tell you? Emily's like, she's delusional, just tell she's 29. Absolutely not. She's like, she's just 29 in her head. So I go there and I'm going in to get some toys from her granddaughter, and there's like four cops, this is the power of Philadelphia right here, four cop cars right outside. I go and did I tell you this story? This is a great story. So I go in and I'm like pushing the cart around, and I hear this security guard seem like, get out of the way, get out of the way. No shit. There is a blonde woman shop writing who's running through the store, ducking in between. So now there's cops in there, there's six cops in there. There, and they're she's ducking underneath in the Walmart? In the freaking Walmart. Right? So she's like, and they can't, these are grown-ass men. They they tackle her. They tackle her, they cuff her, and I'm standing there like, I'm like, I'm like, why didn't I record this? Great value and great entertainment. Right, great value. And I was like, why didn't I record this very nice gentleman, this very nice police officer? He goes, ma'am, are you okay? I'm like, I'm just wondering if you could do that again. I'm sure they could do that again. I'm just wondering. But people don't get it that that Walmarts are bougie. So you went to college in Philadelphia? No, no. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I guess half a year because it got cut off by COVID. And tell me again, where uh Langhorn, Pennsylvania.

SPEAKER_01

Langhorn, Pennsylvania. Guess what my mailing address is?

SPEAKER_03

What?

SPEAKER_01

Langhorn, Pennsylvania.

SPEAKER_03

Is it really? Yeah, I was at Karen University.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Uh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And before became Karen's assholes. Before then.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was way before. Well, I guess, I mean, I graduated in 2019, so it was right around.

SPEAKER_01

Right, right around now the Karen's. By the way, they're not, you're not, we're not saying Karen anymore. We're saying the new words Jessica, just so you know. Oh, Jessica. Oh, was it? Okay. Yeah. I don't know why. I really like the whole Karen thing. I was addicted to it.

SPEAKER_03

Well, we can see that.

SPEAKER_01

Somebody called me a Karen on social media not that long ago. And I'm like, dude, if you even knew me, like I am the furthest anti-career. I know. It's crazy. So you just started like this is a dream story, by the way.

SPEAKER_03

It's it's it's still crazy to me. It's weird. Sometimes I don't feel real. Sometimes I wake up, I'm like, eh, what's going on?

SPEAKER_01

Somebody pinched me, like, with that happen.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's cool though. I love it.

SPEAKER_01

So where do you play? Where do you perform?

SPEAKER_03

Uh I haven't really performed much anywhere. You gotta get out there. Yeah, I did the ring, Nashville. It's like an underground sort of thing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um, I did really well there, but I haven't really done anything. Other than that, we've just been dropping a lot of music.

SPEAKER_01

Does it make you happy that there's a huge hip-hop presence here in the city of country music?

SPEAKER_03

They've been trying to add on to it.

SPEAKER_01

Totally.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And you know what? I had a hip-hop artist on um the last time I shot in December. And I had no idea that there was this whole community of other music other than country music. Oh, yeah. Here in Nashville. Right. Like that's amazing. So you have a lot of, I don't want to say co-workers, like a lot of other people that do you collab with other or no?

SPEAKER_03

Uh sort sort of. We kind of keep it as of right now. We keep it like in the team, Sound Studios team, because we've got a lot of artists that are assigned there. So they're kind of teammates.

SPEAKER_01

How did you find them?

SPEAKER_03

That's all through uh Noah, the producer.

SPEAKER_01

Damn, this kid, you somebody shined some damn price.

SPEAKER_03

I'm telling you, once I met once I met him, it just kind of started going up from there.

SPEAKER_01

So took off from there. So are you crazy busy?

SPEAKER_03

Because I know writing and we write just about I say four days a week. So and then we're not doing that. We do videos and we're always hanging out together. So I'm sure, I'm sure.

SPEAKER_01

And how did you get to meet Crazy Steven?

SPEAKER_03

I've known him for a while. Yeah. Working my valet job for I think I met him like four years ago.

SPEAKER_01

Well, he speaks so highly of you.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah, he's cool.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he truly, he's your hype girl.

SPEAKER_03

I love Steven.

SPEAKER_01

I call him Stefan, but Stephon is your he's your hype dude.

SPEAKER_03

He is.

SPEAKER_01

He really is. It's amazing. I love that. I don't have a like I don't have a hype per Emily. You be my hype. Absolutely. You be right. Absolutely. I am. She was the guest on was it last week's podcast? We drop once a we drop once a week. And literally, she's like, Deb is the best like hype girl in the entire world. No, literally.

SPEAKER_03

Stephon's good at that. Yeah, he is.

SPEAKER_01

That's really amazing. What do your parents think of this?

SPEAKER_03

They like it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I bet.

SPEAKER_03

They like it. It makes them a little nervous, but they like it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I bet. They do.

SPEAKER_03

The normal.

SPEAKER_01

So if you had to play, like, where are venues here that people could go see hip hop music?

SPEAKER_03

You know, honestly, I don't know too many. Uh kept up with a few from the ring that I've played at, but usually they'll just go to like they'll just rent spots out, so it's kind of like set up a month before you get tickets. They kind of rent the spots. It's like a rage, kind of. Yeah. Wherever's open, really. Right. That's crazy. That's not doing country music. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Would you ever collab into country music?

SPEAKER_03

Uh I wouldn't mind. I wouldn't mind doing it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe a little more on the rap side. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Post Malone did it.

SPEAKER_03

That's true.

SPEAKER_01

You know, he's turned out good. He's got his own friends.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, yeah, trust me, I grew up here. I grew up out in the country, big trucks, all that stuff. So yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Do you have a I grew up on it? Do you have a love for country music?

SPEAKER_03

I wouldn't say a love. I mean, I like any kind of music, but if we're saying like what am I turning on when I get in the car, probably not country.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think, yeah, and country music, and you know, I'm from Philadelphia, so they're like what it's become now. I think in the last 10 years, country music has really come a long way. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, it's came a long way.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's it definitely has. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they're they're good. They're really good.

SPEAKER_01

I think so too. What's 2026 look like for you?

SPEAKER_03

Bigger? Hopefully, we're gonna be dropping some more. I mean, we drop a song every month. We drop a new song every month, so just really building the fan base is what we're watching.

SPEAKER_01

Dropping a song a month is a lot of work. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it is.

SPEAKER_01

It is. It is. I mean, I had somebody on earlier that releases a Christmas album every month. I mean, a Christmas album, and it's like it takes all 12 months to get the Christmas album out. It's a lot of studio time.

SPEAKER_03

It is, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, that's crazy. Do you feel like you live in a studio?

SPEAKER_03

Uh sometimes. Sometimes a little bit, but we kind of make sure to get out a lot, make sure we don't, you know, it's hard to do it. Dry rot, you don't want a dry rot. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

We make sure to then your parents will be like, that's it, send his ass back to energy university in Langhorn, Pennsylvania.

SPEAKER_03

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

All of a sudden, then we'd be neighbors. You and I go out for cheesesteaks together. I know. It's not really for where I am from. Um my husband's like job is there, and and I'm gonna be honest, I hate cold weather.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I hate it. I'm well, I like the snow. When the one time I or when I was up there, it just wasn't like it was just cold and windy.

SPEAKER_01

It's cold and windy, yeah. Well, you thank God you weren't there the last time. We got like 14 inches that turned into a sheet of ice.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And it hasn't gone over freezing yet, so it's still the same block of ice. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_03

Were you here when we just got the snowstorm?

SPEAKER_01

No, I wasn't, but Mitch, my team, they lost power for twelve days. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Like Yeah, it was bad.

SPEAKER_01

That's really bad. Yeah. I'm from Texas originally, and they get the same way.

SPEAKER_03

They don't handle I'm about to say it's shut down. They have to.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the infrastructure, which they need to work on the infrastructure here because the traffic is just ridiculous. But in Texas, it's all up because it really very rarely gets cold enough to freeze, so it's all up to accommodate for the amount of people that are there. Right. But you they shut everything down, like because it's terrifying.

SPEAKER_03

That's how it is here, yeah. Nobody likes it.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, but I mean, that many days is terrible. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I like to sled and stuff, but yeah. But not every day in my life. Not for six months. I like to be warm too at the same time.

SPEAKER_01

Is it nice out today? I haven't even left the building.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's pretty nice. It's about to rain, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Is it nice? I think it's like 60. Yeah, it's 64. Wow. Oh, wow, that's beautiful. That's like 40 degrees warmer than it was. I know. I need to get my ass outside. What am I doing here? Yeah, it was nice when I came.

SPEAKER_03

It's windy though. It feels like Philly out there.

SPEAKER_01

Does it?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's so funny. And you're from Nashville. What made you choose Karen University?

SPEAKER_03

Actually, my best friend that I grew up with, he went to play baseball there and then kind of came to the end of summer. I hadn't decided on where to go, and then I just ended up going there with him. We're roommates, everything.

SPEAKER_01

What's the greatest lesson you learned from being outside of Philadelphia?

SPEAKER_03

Outside of Philadelphia?

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's where Lyinghorn is. It's a suburb.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, you're talking about being there?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like what's the greatest thing you learned from being in Philly?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. I think I learned that there's a lot more mean people in the world than there is than there is in Nashville. I swear.

SPEAKER_01

It's like you gotta, it's like a it's like a PhD and gangsters, right? Their people are angry. Yeah. And I say this with all love, my Philadelphians, but it's a crazy Oh yeah, I love it.

SPEAKER_03

I would I would go back there. Oh, it's a great one. If I could go back and live with my friends there, oh I would do it. Yeah. Yeah. Just compared to here, it's just it's such a different thing.

SPEAKER_01

There's a lot of southern hospitality here that you don't really get in Philadelphia. You know, we were talking earlier on the show about just being nice to people. I'm like, I just don't think they know it. They don't know, they don't get it.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. Like it's almost stopped saying yes, ma'am. I say yes, ma'am, and yes, sir.

SPEAKER_01

And then people, they're like, I'm not your grandmother. That's exactly what they told me. I'm not trying to be your grandchild, I'm trying to be respectful.

SPEAKER_03

That's exactly what they were told. Right. So yeah, it's just a different, it's just a different culture.

SPEAKER_01

It's a totally different vibe, yeah. But I'm happy you got to experience some.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I would I would go back. I like it. Oh, totally. There's a lot to do up there. Plenty of things.

SPEAKER_01

There is a lot to do. It's very cold in the winters. But it doesn't get as hot as it gets here in the summer. No, it doesn't.

SPEAKER_03

But I kind of like the hot weather more.

SPEAKER_01

Do you? Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I guess I just got used to it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's from being in the south, too. Well, cold. This is the first winter I've spent. Um, I've spent the other ones in Texas. This is the first full winter I've spent in Langhorn, Pennsylvania. And you know what I decided? It's uh, spend the winter in there. I'm like, yeah, I'm like, now I know why I went south because it is it's a long, cold, dreary. Yeah, yeah, it is. It's not even good.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I like it in the south.

SPEAKER_01

So tell me if we could like, if I had a like crystal ball and I could grant you one wish, what would it be? Ooh.

SPEAKER_03

Ooh, man. That's fun. That's a tough question.

SPEAKER_01

True, truthfully. Well, I mean, this is a big deal. We're not gonna hold you to it. It's like a four-year-old who can change it in five minutes.

SPEAKER_03

I would say right now, just a solid fan base that I could have that shows up to, you know, I could post on my story, hey, I'm doing a show here. Doesn't have to be 10,000 people showing up. Right. I'm good with like a thousand people. That would be a good for me.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it starts with a thousand and then the next shoot it's ten thousand.

SPEAKER_03

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

So, how do you get your fans all through social media?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah, a lot of social media, which I feel like is how a lot of people do now, but a lot of social media.

SPEAKER_01

It's huge. It's if you were to be in this industry in any form of music, you have to be. No, yeah, that's good. Don't yeah, like do your own, but don't get attached. What's the greatest compliment you've ever received on social media?

SPEAKER_03

Oh man, there's so many bad ones on there.

SPEAKER_01

You know what? You're not even a rock star until somebody hates your ass.

SPEAKER_03

No. Um I don't know. Someone just commented the other day and said, I've been waiting on this song to drop. So just little stuff like that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So that motive that's motivating. It is. Right? It is to hear nice things. And then you block out all the Karen's who are now Jessica's.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I don't listen to them anyways, but right, right.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm glad that you know that at your age, too, because it is like the first time somebody critique, it's like I equate it to being like a parent, you know, like when somebody says something to your kid, you're like, we're gonna throw some shit down. Yeah, you know, like it is. It's like somebody, it's you take it personally, you take cheap shots very personally. But I've also found that there are 38-year-old people living in their parents' basement playing still playing PlayStation.

SPEAKER_03

That's all they gotta do to make them kid better. Right.

SPEAKER_01

If you have to make somebody else feel small, then that's exactly and that's usually who it is saying it all the time.

SPEAKER_03

Truthfully.

SPEAKER_01

Would you travel? Would you get like on to go on tour? Yeah. That would be cool.

SPEAKER_03

That's the dream.

SPEAKER_01

I want to tour, man.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'll change my and I change my crystal.

SPEAKER_01

Change it exactly. Yeah, right. I'm gonna be honest, I very rarely read that.

SPEAKER_03

That's my favorite part when I performed. I was just kind of like, I don't know, I was nervous. Didn't really do well in speech class in college, so it was like, how's this gonna go? Right. But it was just a well it's your passion though.

SPEAKER_01

It's a whole different passion.

SPEAKER_03

It was just yeah, it's like a blackout moment. Yes, it's cool. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's a cool um we were talking about this earlier with Emily too. Like, you ride on this great high of, you know, and I'm a very tiny cog in this huge wheel, and you ride on this incredible high, and then the next day you're like, I'm like, what just happened?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's awesome. That's like the best feeling ever.

SPEAKER_01

It is, and that high is so intense, you know. Like you could shoot 50. You're like, ah, 50 more. Yeah. And then tomorrow when I fly home, I'll be like on the plane. Yeah, 100%. You know?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's exactly what it's like. It's like that's what I mean crowd.

SPEAKER_01

It is, it is, it is, it totally is. And like I have a real job. So, like, besides this, I have a real job that I have to go home to, and and I I want a tour bus.

SPEAKER_03

We'll get to it. I would do both. I would love to be on a tour bus. Oh my god. I don't mind flying either. I like flying.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I like flying too. I don't like it. I've been with this job and with my other career, I've been flying my whole life. So people are like, I'm driving cross country. I'm like, there's a plane that's great to take your ass across the country.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'm not really, I don't know. Unless you're in a big van or something.

SPEAKER_01

If you're in a great big van, that would be amazing. That's what I've always told everybody that I want to take this show on the road. Yeah, that'd be awesome. It would be amazing. Come on there, we'll follow you. You come on the tour bus, we'll do a logo on your side. Would that be amazing? Oh, that would be amazing. I know. My husband's like, I'm trying to retire. I'm like, we're trying to get you a recliner.

SPEAKER_02

That's hilarious.

SPEAKER_01

Like, you're gonna be okay. Don't be yucking my yum, sir. It's okay. I know. Well, he is a real job. Like, people, this isn't really a real job. I mean, it's a real job, but it's not a real this is a this is a joy job. When you get to do this for a living and a real job. This is the new real job, just the way Jessica's the new Karen. Exactly. Yeah, it is. It's a great, it's a great way to make a living, sitting here and talking to banners in school all day. Is this your first podcast?

SPEAKER_03

Um first one like this, I would say. Yeah, I mean, we've done a couple of things. Like professional. I guess, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Thanks for saying that because we ran professional. Thanks. We were good. I'm happy you're here. Yeah, I'm here. That's so great. We talked on the phone. We I knew you were, I was super excited. So, how did you guys connect?

SPEAKER_03

Oh Stefan.

SPEAKER_01

Stefan, who is Steven, who was the Valley Parker here. Oh, nice. Okay, he was the Valley Barker here, and he fought so hard on your behalf. Because I I shot here one day and then I shot in studio for two days after that. And he he could not say enough wonderful things about you. He couldn't say enough wonderful things about your music, and he was like, Would you have him on the podcast? And I was like, absolutely. He's like, Are you kidding? I'm like, No, I'm not kidding.

SPEAKER_03

That's why I loved him. He's so good at talking.

SPEAKER_01

I'm like, totally. He'll totally talk about it. He's a perfect person for a medicine. He is, and I'm like, of course. And he's like, you know, we have a running list of people that want to be on the show. And I'm like, but I knew that, you know, I'm like, well, shoot him on the next round that they come in. He's like, really? I'm like, yeah, I'm not lying to you, sir. You can come along. I don't want to let you down now. I know, it was really funny too, because he's like, he'll feel better if he talks to you. I'm like, dude, I have never kidnapped anybody in my freaking life. Yeah. Like, I'm not gonna bang him up. He's gonna be fine. I'm not gonna bang him up as well. You know what's really amazing about this? Get used to this, like this interaction. This is how you build a fan base.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's so main reason I kind of wanted to be here. Me too. I mean, this is awesome besides the social media stuff. Oh my gosh. Yes, it is social media, but it's more.

SPEAKER_01

You're gonna leave here and be like, when can I do that show again?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah. I'm like I can't wait to be co-host. I'm ready.

SPEAKER_01

You will be right, right. And I mean that's tough competition right there. But yeah, I'm gonna have to fight him for it.

SPEAKER_03

We'll see.

SPEAKER_01

That's she'll co host. She'll we'll get them all in here at the same time. We'll get Timmy McKeever back off tour, we'll bring him in.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

We're talking about Timmy earlier and how he just became like an overnight. Success.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that'd be cool.

SPEAKER_01

He totally wouldn't it? Yeah. It's great. It's really awesome to have a co-host too because especially because you're all in the music industry, right? And you kind of filter off of each other and and I think that's that's completely awesome. So where would you want to play if I could be like, here's where you're playing?

SPEAKER_03

Man, I'll play at Bridgestone.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

If you're going with that question, yeah, I'll play at Bridge. Right.

SPEAKER_01

That's beautiful.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I feel like that's a dream. I grew up here. Right.

SPEAKER_01

You're not going to play at the Grand Old Opry.

SPEAKER_03

I could. You could.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, Sabrina Carpenter.

SPEAKER_01

Collab with with absolutely. I'll collab with Selena Carpenter.

SPEAKER_03

Sabrina Carpenter. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. That's amazing. I love that because I tell people, you know, in my practice, I'm a therapist, I'm a coach. I work with a lot of artists, actually. I coach a lot of artists. Dream big. Like if your dream doesn't scare the ever-living shit out of you, you're not dreaming big enough.

SPEAKER_03

That's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_01

You're settling.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, and there's no why when you have this whole opportunity where you can do it. Amen. What's the worst thing that's gonna happen? You gotta get a regular job.

SPEAKER_03

That's what you're about to do anyway. Right.

SPEAKER_00

There was like a quote, I want to say it was Jim Carrey. He was doing an interview and he was talking about how you could do any job in the world. Right? Say I go and be a doctor. I could fail at being a doctor, I could be unhappy, I could not pass my test, I could do why not go and do something and fail at something that you actually love. Right. That actually lights you up, that you're actually passionate about.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And it's one of my favorite things. That's so true. And and also my whole thing is why would I work for somebody else and build their dream? Exactly. When I can build my own dream, like I'm all this is coordination with my dream. Yeah, well, I'm not sure. Why would I go pay for somebody else's dream when I can pay for the street?

SPEAKER_03

We're on the same page there for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, it's that's not a looking glass. Like I tell people, I'm like, step two steps to the left out of your own way, and you will realize that opportunity is there for you. Just do it for everybody. And do what you love. If you're gonna be doing this the rest of your life, you better damn well love it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know? So that's 100%. That's great. So I'm like you're in studio writing. I got can you can you do a little? Can you sing a little fast?

SPEAKER_03

Uh maybe. Maybe, maybe, maybe one day.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Not right this moment.

SPEAKER_03

He needs another beer. Yeah, maybe if I have like three or four more beers, I see.

SPEAKER_01

Somebody get him a shot back up with his beer. That's amazing. Do people recognize you on the street?

SPEAKER_03

Uh not really. No.

SPEAKER_01

No. Do people recognize you on the street? Uh sometimes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. What's that feel like? It's really interesting. Like, it's it's super cool because it's like, oh my gosh, like that's just wild to that was a funny sound. Probably. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

We've had puppies running through here.

SPEAKER_00

Everybody here is a dog.

SPEAKER_01

I'm like, this has been the craziest shoot we've ever had.

SPEAKER_00

Um it's definitely very interesting though, because it's super cool getting to experience that, but also at the same time, it kind of makes you realize that you never know who could be watching you when you're like out and about doing whatever. So you kind of in that sense, I feel like whenever I go out to an extent, I have to be on to a certain level. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Or just that will happen to you. People will start to recognize you, and you realize then that you know you can't be an asshole in Starbucks.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. Oh, I'm not worried about that. Right. Yeah, right, exactly. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's amazing. You do, you start to we I used to stay at a different hotel and I'd walk in and they'd be like, There's happy hour with Deb. I'm like, done a lot in my life now. Hell yeah. Somebody's grandmother, for God's sake. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Minimized. Oh, it's so cute.

SPEAKER_01

That's happy hour with Deb. That's a hour of Deb. Even at home, we've been asked to shoot in a lot of bars, you know, in the Philly area. But my media team's here. Like, I'm gonna pack this whole operation up and take it to Philadelphia. Once I get my tour bus, it'll be an easy. Not be an easy bus. That'd be awesome. It'd be totally. I I've been.

SPEAKER_03

Can I get the logo on there?

SPEAKER_01

The logo's kick ass. It is. I love the logo. My assistant made that logo. This show will be two years old next month.

SPEAKER_03

That's awesome.

SPEAKER_01

It's been two years of just craziness and laughs and sometimes some tears. And I've watched these incredible humans grow so much. It's been like an honor.

SPEAKER_03

You probably get to meet a lot of good people.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you don't even know. I go home and brag about you people, like you don't even know. Like, I will. I'll be telling everybody about you as soon as I get home. That'd be awesome. I do. I want to, you know. Oh, thanks. Emma and I we met at the country radio seminar last year. Then we became Insta buddies. Yeah. We were like buds, right? She was like my favorite one. The show, like, we need her back. How do we get her back? It was really fun.

SPEAKER_00

My God, sister. Right.

SPEAKER_01

We kind of look like, damn, if I can wake up looking like her, holy shit, my life is complete. Somebody's great, but yeah, she rocks. She really is. And that's the power of the connection in this town.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Right? Take every interview you can get on, even if it's like, oh my god. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

No matter what it is.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's amazing.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, what's it gonna do?

SPEAKER_01

How much money do you want to make by this time next year?

SPEAKER_03

By this time next year? Do I wanna make?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Uh wanna make. Shoot. I wanna make at least. I'd say.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I was gonna say, and that's you're gonna hear.

SPEAKER_03

How much do I wanna make? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I know, right? I know. How much do you want to make? I'm like, I just want to do the podcast the rest of my life. As long as somebody's willing to let Susie talks a lot, Pesh beer, I'm in. Like, it's the truth. It's really crazy.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I too, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So, how's your girlfriend?

SPEAKER_03

Good. What's her name? She's a teacher, Samantha.

SPEAKER_01

Samantha, and she's a teacher. What grade does she teach?

SPEAKER_03

She does uh, what is she? Preschool to eighth grade.

SPEAKER_01

So you're kidding. We'll give a shout out to her. Thank you for taking care of the babies in the world.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they deserve a lot of credit. Totally. For real. A lot more than you realize when you're in school.

SPEAKER_01

Right, totally. Yeah, I mean, I think it's it's a lot. That's a lot. Like you're going home and you're dead exhausted, I can imagine.

SPEAKER_03

Oh man, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

How long have you guys been together?

SPEAKER_03

Uh going on. Been five. I think it's going on six.

SPEAKER_01

Years?

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

You were a baby.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You were a baby.

SPEAKER_03

Seven, what was I? 17? Yeah, about 17, 18.

SPEAKER_01

Did you ever write a song about her?

SPEAKER_03

No. Not yet.

SPEAKER_01

No, not yet.

SPEAKER_03

It's like getting a tattoo of somebody. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Get a tattoo like that right there. That's so cool. I like that. We got this at the CRS let. This is like a little bit. I don't have any tattoos.

SPEAKER_03

Happy hour with Deb. I need to get a tattoo. That's incredible. I don't want to be one of the people that stands up and passes out though.

SPEAKER_01

Would we Right, no. It's not even PayPal. We went at the CRS last year and it's a country radio seminar. It's at the Omni and they kind of bring in the artist and they lock the press down. Because how many interviews did you do that day?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, uh, I had an interview every 30 minutes, I want to say from like 11:30 to 4:30.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. We shot before in studio for two days and then shot that, and that week I did 67 interviews.

SPEAKER_03

Wow. That's a lot of energy. It's a lot of energy. That's a lot of energy. Right.

SPEAKER_01

It's a lot. And then I'm on the plane and someone's trying to talk to me.

SPEAKER_03

I'm like, I couldn't even, I wouldn't even remember all those people. Yeah. Probably. That's crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you'll see. Um when I get home, I'll send you my office is blue, and all the artists that a picture of me and the artist is in a white frame, and they're all around the room. Cool. I bring everybody that comes to. It's beautiful. I'll send you a picture. You'll love it.

SPEAKER_00

What are you gonna do when you like fill all the walls? You just make it a bigger office.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, blow the wall out. The people come in and do them, and they're like, whoa. I'll be called my wall of fame. How's the beer? You like it?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah, that's good.

SPEAKER_01

It's delish, right? Let me tell you about it. Please help yourself, sir. That's why we call it happy out. It is really good. So Alan is the guy who owns this. He had a corporate job. He had a big boy job, is what I call it. Like when people job. Right. People don't do what they love if it's called a big boy job. That's why I say by my husband, I go, You're angry because you have a big boy job. And that's just, you know, you got to be responsible. So he quit his corporate job. He's a veteran, and he gives back to veterans, and the beer is amazing.

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

And he's helping with suicide prevention and he works with vets. So cool, so near and dear to my heart. And my brother-in-law goes into a bar around Philly, and there it is. There's the beer, there's the sign. Like, that's like so. I'm like taking all these pictures and sending it to him. And we'll let you have a t-shirt. I'll send you in with some beer. Dude, yeah. Yeah, he's a great guy. He really is. And I love the beer. I think it's amazing. And every for every sip you take, somebody's getting a better chance in life. So it's awesome. Isn't that doesn't that make it worth it? Does now you want to have six, not just four?

SPEAKER_03

I'll probably bring six anyway. It's fine. Maybe I want to have twelve.

SPEAKER_01

Right, exactly. Are you going to drive? Are you going to have as many as you want? Step on, we'll get your ass up somewhere.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I got him. Yeah, he's cool.

SPEAKER_01

He is very cool. He is. I said to him, he's like, I want to be on a podcast because he's working this whole thing.

SPEAKER_03

He's trying to He's doing that Valley Mafia thing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, this thing called Valley Mafia. It's been really cool. Wants to do a show, like a Netflix series. Oh, cool. Um, and he actually called the other day, and I was like, I love he's got such good energy, doesn't he?

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_01

He's got good energy.

SPEAKER_03

He could talk to a brick wall.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, me too. That's why my husband's like, listen, Susie talks a lot. We can, you're not interviewing the waiter. Let's it's totally fine. We go out on Valentine's Day. He's like, it's okay that the waiter dropped out of college. You don't have to heal him. It's totally fine.

SPEAKER_02

You don't have to heal it. Because that's what I do.

SPEAKER_01

I'm a fixed person. I fix people. That's what I do. And that's, you know, but he always cracks up. He's like, Deb is gonna, Deb will fix you. Leave Deb. Or there'll be like a stressful moment with the kids or like a relative or something. He's like, I'm just gonna turn you over to Deb.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Deb, do the work.

SPEAKER_01

She wants to clock in, so I totally tell people, I tell everybody, even the artists to come on the show. I'm like, dude, if you need me or I can make a connection or anything, please reach out. The show's not about me. The show's about all you guys. So that's it. I think it's yeah, I know. That's all right. It is. It's it's awesome. I can't wait to hear more of your music.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, thank you. I love it. I'll keep you updated with it for sure. Totally. I'll tell you, keep you updated.

SPEAKER_01

Totally, totally. And you'll totally come back on the show. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

We'll drink some more cool. Only if you have me.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I'll totally have you. Jump in a co-host. I would love to see you with some more country artists. I can't promise they're all as pretty as Emily. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_03

That's okay. That's okay.

SPEAKER_01

That's not gonna turn you away. She's a badass artist, too. That'd be cool. Yeah. She's a badass.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you.

SPEAKER_03

I'll have to listen to some of your music. No offense. I've never listened to anything, but I will.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's okay. I do like country rock, so it's not like That's perfect.

SPEAKER_03

That's awesome. It's cool with me.

SPEAKER_01

She's a butt, she's a badass. Yeah, that's awesome. She's totally a badass. And nobody ever comes to this show that doesn't turn into a big star. So you're gonna be a big star.

SPEAKER_03

Manifesting right now.

SPEAKER_01

Totally. I'll be back.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe today starts the year of the whores. This is the day to manifest. Do you know anything about this?

SPEAKER_03

Is that a girl? Okay, y'all.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's a it's like a kind of male server thing. Like today's like the Chinese New Year, and the whole past year was the year of the snake. So you're like shedding old skin, bad relationships, whatever. Today is the first. Right? That's what I've been saying. And today's the first year of the horse.

SPEAKER_01

It is and the horse has powerful energy.

SPEAKER_02

Cool.

SPEAKER_01

We were in a nine-year cycle of the snake. So anything that you want to get rid of, like that response. I'm so glad you're on my Patreon. I don't know if the horse is. No one knows what I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, we're off.

SPEAKER_01

Are you kidding? I've told all my clients. My favorite clients divorce finally was final yesterday.

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_01

And then another client called me last night. I never get to go anywhere where it's I just do this job. Another client said he's reconciling with his wife. I was like, the snake was energy that was holding you down. And it was, you know, things that weren't, it's time to release, like people that aren't working for you. It's time to dream big. It's time to walk. When you walk out this door today, I want you to say, Thank you to the universe for abundance.

SPEAKER_03

Cool.

SPEAKER_01

And it'll come to you.

SPEAKER_03

It's really the year of the horse.

SPEAKER_01

The year of the horse.

SPEAKER_00

I saw something today where it was like, oh, also for Scorpios and I think it's Virgos, that this is gonna be like the first year where I want to say it's like Jupiter. I don't know if I don't know. Right, right. Like super close, but um wanna, it's like the first year that whatever planet is not gonna be in whatever for like Scorpio and Virgo, and that we've been in it's like the first time in 13 years or something like that. Right. And I was like, well, this makes so much sense why my love life has been shit right for someone new literally my year.

SPEAKER_01

Your horse just trampled on your snake. Yeah, thank God bless. Right. That's a good way to put it. Yeah, I'm a Leo. So Oh, my rising is a Leo, I learned the other day. So I mean, Leos are kind of known as.

SPEAKER_03

What's that? July?

SPEAKER_01

Um, like August. I think July, August. Yeah, August, I guess. Yeah. You're a Leo?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, July 25th. And I'm turning 25 this year.

SPEAKER_01

Oh why? And you got the fire horse coming on. Yeah, I got the fire horse. You're gonna be selling after arena next week. I'll do it. Do we need security?

SPEAKER_03

No. We're gonna be good. We're gonna be good.

SPEAKER_01

No, not for us. I mean for you guys. Do you need security?

SPEAKER_03

Nah. Nah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, you're gonna be all right. Yeah, we'll be okay. Good. Can Emily and I can.

SPEAKER_03

I don't want to jinx it though.

SPEAKER_01

Can we get backstage, Emily then? Of course. Okay, cool.

SPEAKER_03

I believe if I get backstage years. Oh, yeah, bro. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

Emily will put us right backstage. She'll be like, I just I just need Deb to have a drink with. We're just gonna, I'm just gonna hang out with Deb for a little while. Yeah. We're gonna rip it up.

SPEAKER_03

I'll be back there. I'll shotgun some beers.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely. And you're helping veterans.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. So please feel free. Those are good too. It's really good. The beer is really good.

SPEAKER_01

I'm really good.

SPEAKER_03

I'm just a simple guy. Like I just like natty lights, bud light. Yeah, me too.

SPEAKER_01

I'm usually that same way with although anything that ends with light. Anything with end, people watch your girlish figure?

SPEAKER_03

Like, why it's no cheaper.

SPEAKER_04

Cheaper, right? It is cheaper.

SPEAKER_01

You're very I think it's watered down. As I've gotten older, I was strictly a beer girl for a long time. And then I moved into wine. And I was just you and I talk about this. Okay, I love a good, like good crisp Chardonnay or a good Cabernet in the winter. Oh, I love a good cabinet. Okay, it only gets worse. Now I'm on to dirty blue cheese olive stuffed martinis. What?

SPEAKER_00

Okay, there's so many people on that train, and I'm just I started making them at home.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if that's a I mean, I work in addiction, I'd be able to tell, but like I'd be able to help myself. But it it's to me at the end of the day, it's like so crispy. And it's just me and the dog and my husband, it's not like we have all this traffic coming through our house.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And at the end of the day, I'm like, I chill my glass perfectly. And I'm like, job well done, Deb. I cheers myself. Be your biggest cheerleader, be your biggest fan, and never stop believing in you. That's true, right? Yeah. My husband texts this morning and he goes, I just want you to know I'm so proud of you. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm so incredibly proud of you. He's the coolest man. You would love him. I'm feeling him cheese too.

SPEAKER_03

I try to tell people that all the time.

SPEAKER_01

He's the cool he's the coolest man ever. He's he's God bless him, he's a godsend. And he was so funny because he's like, you know, I'm like, he's like, have you know, I'm so incredibly proud of you. And I'm the only thing I could think of is thank you for supporting this crazy dream.

SPEAKER_03

That's right.

SPEAKER_01

Can you imagine have a wife on the road? And I know I'm like, thank you for believing in me and supporting the street. That takes a lot too. It takes a lot because he's home with my dog and you know, our dog, and you know, it takes a lot to be on the road. And and what a great guy to trust your wife to go out on the road and hang out with rock stars all day.

SPEAKER_03

100%.

SPEAKER_01

You know, cheers. Let's do wait, I'm gonna crack a beer with you. We're gonna do a cheers to Rusty. Hold on. Let's go.

SPEAKER_00

Let's go. And I can't have a beer with you. I can't, but you can't have a beer?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, you just said because of the gluten. You said that before we started.

SPEAKER_00

It's unfortunate for me.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, you got it?

SPEAKER_00

I'll crack one in spirit.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, you're good. Cheers.

SPEAKER_00

Let freedom ring. What? Let freedom ring. You know, let freedom ring is by God bless America. Love the sound of a cracking can.

SPEAKER_01

So you're gonna come back and you're gonna hang out with us so we're gonna drink some beer together. I would love that. Talk some music. I would love for you to come in if you want to hit us with some music. Not today. I know I'm putting pressure on you.

SPEAKER_03

No, it's all good.

SPEAKER_01

But we'd love to hear.

SPEAKER_00

Freestyle right now.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know if I can do that. I'll leave that to Juice World.

SPEAKER_00

This chicken is crazy. I thought I was just coming to sit and talk.

SPEAKER_01

And you're gonna come back and you'll sit where Emily is and we'll talk some music. And you're gonna get flooded with country music. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's gonna be awesome. I'm down for you.

SPEAKER_01

Better wear your prettiest dress. I'm gonna say, I don't know if I'm Emily should be as pretty, but Emily shows up like a damn princess every time I see her. I'm like, what the hell did you get better looking? I just saw you in December.

SPEAKER_00

No, I literally, when I did that interview in December and I've been seeing the videos, I'm like, wow, I could have tried harder. I don't look good in these videos at all. So today I was like, I'm clocking in to really actually try to get it. I can't get her dilemma tricks.

SPEAKER_01

I got a blowout schedule, and I know she wouldn't.

SPEAKER_03

I got the Adam Sandler look going a little bit, so you totally got it, but you rock it.

SPEAKER_01

SPEAKER_00

But uh gosh, it would be so fun to host, like uh, not to like put plans in your head, but I did this show in Texas a couple years ago where it was just like this couple, they hosted a couple musicians and it was they invited all their friends over. And it was kind of like just a little party, but they just you know hired these musicians to come out and we hung out and just drank wine and had nice dinners. That's so it was a super acoustic, intimate, like fun experience. But I love it. Like that would be something that you would love. I would so do like a little house party.

SPEAKER_01
