Hey everybody, welcome to another episode of Hazelwood Hot Rods the Podcast. This is Jeremy. Getting on here this this week. And uh gonna talk about some stuff with some uh talk about car shows, talk about a lot of different topics in general. I got a special guest with us today. Uh, before we get going on the guests, we've got uh just a reminder to everybody that uh we are hosting Rumble in the Fall car show this weekend at Rick Fairless's Strokers Dallas, Strokers Ice House. So everybody make sure you come out to that. It's a 99 and older car show. Uh it's gonna be a really neat show, and uh I look forward to it. But we're gonna get on here real quick and we're gonna kind of try to get a nice little podcast going for you for our second one out. Um I'm gonna introduce our guest right quick. It is Tim Singleton of Trendsetter World Ride. Hey Tim.
SPEAKER_00Hey, what's going on, y'all?
SPEAKER_01Not much, man. Just uh, you know, we're just getting on here and you do a lot of uh car show stuff on your your page. I know you've got like thousands and thousands of followers, and uh you know that's where I'm kind of growing my area at too. And uh I think I'm at 6,800 followers now. And uh so we're we're working on getting up there. Uh and I've seen so and I've seen a lot of stuff that you post, a lot of things about shows. So um one thing I like I said, I know you go to a lot of shows, bigger shows, things like that. So uh tell us a little bit about some of the sh bigger shows that you did.
SPEAKER_00Um, okay. Well, my biggest uh show that I do every year is uh All-Star Throwdown here in Condo, Texas. Um if you haven't been there, y'all need to come on out. It's just even if you're a spectator, um 2,500 vehicles if that's their max capacity. And it's just pure wonderful chaos.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I could imagine a show that's 2,500 cars.
SPEAKER_00Well yeah, and it's it's three days of custom goodness, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um so they do, you know, they they do do cars. Is it predominantly a truck show? Yes. Um was like the uh winner last year was a uh like a million dollar challenge, it was amazing. I mean, everything uh it it deserves to win everything that it goes through, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um a lot of people see that as a c is uh truck only and it's not it's a good mixture of stuff, right? Predominantly trucks are still lifted, lower, static, everything in between, right? Right. Um just tons of custom everywhere. And to get into Lone Star Throw Road, you have to submit to your vehicle, right? Let me tell you, promoters of that show, it doesn't matter if you have a five thousand dollar S10 or an eight hundred thousand dollar C ten and make sure that a good mixture of everyone gets in. Oh, that's I love that about that because you know hey, we all don't have money without, you know, $75,000 just on the motor, you know what I mean? Right, right.
SPEAKER_01Um kind of like my car, my kind of like my project and my new car, you know, it's not no it's a it's a my blue one twenty thirteen, it's a not a twenty-five thousand dollar car, you know. Of course my project is not nowhere near what some of these others are, but it's fun to get them out and show 'em off.
SPEAKER_00Oh, a hundred percent. And uh yeah, so that's that's the biggest one I go to. Um the next biggest I go to is Battle on Bama.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I've heard of that one.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, go. Um it is it's probably around two thousand vehicles. Um and he has a great mixture of cars too. It's like poetry, trucks. Um I mean and the fact that it's a Teletta speedway is awesome. I'm not even gonna lie. Um you you drive up in there and you're just like okay, you can feel the history. You drive through that tunnel, um and he puts on a good show. The reason I say that is because during the show he has things going on the whole time. Like model cross burnout content in the store. Just cruising the track. You can actually cruise the track. Um so you know it's it's a different vibe, right? Um yeah, and every show has kind of their own thing, and you just kinda have to see like is that your vibe? Do you like that? Um So yeah, those are the two biggest shows that I go to. Um I plan on going to uh you guys up in Fort Worth.

SPEAKER_00Um I haven't been I haven't been there in decades. Um but uh yeah, man, we're excited to go see some new stuff up there, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, yeah. And you know, look some of the bigger shows that I've done is you know, like Mustang Week, uh last two years up in Galveston, you know, and they have the the burnout competition, they have the the drag racing, they have all that stuff, and and it's it's a really big show, like 1,500 Mustangs and Fords. Oh wow. And uh, you know, right there at Moody Gardens, and that's that's a really good show as well, too. Uh I've been to like Austin Speed Tour at Circuit of the Americas, got to take my car on the track and do a lot of really cool stuff.
SPEAKER_00So I would love to do that. That I've I've never been to Circuit of America, uh I watch the racing in some area and I would just I would just love to go check that place out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it it's a really neat deal. They do that, I think it's every no first week of November, and they do like the Austin Speed Tour. It's like a three-day event, have a car show, the races, you know, for races, all that stuff, and it's it's a really neat experience to enjoy something like that, not just uh you know, to have something big like that where you can actually enjoy it. And then if you're in a sh car show, your car can do parade laps on the track and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_00So that's very cool. Uh I would love to see that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So I know we uh we you know we Hazelwood, we do a lot of shows, uh not just one a year or whatever, we do about twenty a year. And uh some of them are bigger, some of them are smaller, nothing like staying weak or anything like that, but uh we uh we do a lot of cool car shows and I I think they're really cool. I think we have a lot of fun. We do a lot of versatile stuff where you know younger generation and older generation can mix together, mini trucks, all that stuff can mix together. Uh because we want to, you know, kind of carry things into uh the future, not just the classic cars, but the modern cars and stuff like that. So um what's some what is it what's like some of the stuff that you and I know you do a lot of topics on Facebook and uh Sure.
SPEAKER_04I do a lot.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So and it's good because I like I like watching it, reading it. It's it's uh I agree with everything pretty much you're saying.
SPEAKER_00So uh so like a lot of my topics, it's what everyone's thinking, but no one says it out loud.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um and so sometimes, you know, I just like you're doing this and you're just like, are we talking about this king or is this still a situation? So you just kind of throw it out there. And it gives everybody, you know, that agrees or disagrees to kind of event one way or the other. Um so you have to like start topics and talk to people about things. Um and uh to keep people involved, also, right? Right. Um history back in the early 2000s, I had a website called Landbody.com and we were straight hardcore miniatrucks off. Um you know, live cat whatever, and shut that down, took a hiatus, came back and started trendsetter. And trend center is all as compassing, right? If it's a custom wheel of it, right? Except for squatter trucks. We don't do squatted trucks. Um but the whole part of that is is coming back to this has been amazing. Um getting to see the cars, meeting old friends, making new ones has been the best thing about this whole experience. Um and you know, when you start talking about things, I kind of lost track of where I'm going here. But when when you start doing things and you start going back into these shows, the shows are great. The social social part of these shows and the ones that have more of that, that's where I'm I'm tending to gravitate to, if that makes sense.
SPEAKER_03Right. Right.
SPEAKER_00Um let's not be honest, some a lot of car shows can be boring. And yeah, if you don't if you don't go and talk to people and move out in your own bitch, your crowd, and then you stay stagnant and you don't you don't learn, you don't have a good time, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um and that has been in my big pet with lately is I know you're in this club and you're in this club, but y'all can be cool with each other, you know what I mean? It's like when we're not back in the 1990s. Um social media has brought that, I think, also into a bigger light for everybody. Because now people are talking more on social media together, but when that shows, everyone kind of I don't know, kind of links up to their own little click. Right. And I'm I'm not that person. Like you didn't have your little click, I'm gonna run right in between you and be like, hey man, what's going on? Tell me about your car, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Because I love the stories.
SPEAKER_01Yep. That's me too. Like if I'm at a car show, you know, I don't hardly I don't never sit still long enough to to just be sitting there. I'm out looking around, checking out the different rides and uh meeting with the people that are out there instead of just sitting in my lawn chair.
SPEAKER_00So a hundred percent. And then and I don't know how to change that factor and move a little bit, but if we talk about it, maybe some people get a little bit more comfortable. And I get it, not everybody can go up there and just start talking to people, but I I can't.
SPEAKER_01Right, right. And that's that's the same way me too. You know, there's there is a lot of them that that can't, but there is some that can and want to get out there and you know, they just some of them just wait for somebody to come up and talk about, you know, hey, tell me about your ride, you know, and they just they just want to sit there and wait for somebody to walk up, and that's okay too. It's just but there's you know, you got to get out and move around more other than just sitting behind the car and waiting for awards.
SPEAKER_00I'm thinking they're gonna have to make a pet peeve count for me on this, but pet peeve one is like if I go so if I go up to you or anyone else goes up to somebody, that person should be able to have a conversation about car. I'm asking about your vehicle. Sometimes you get these people who are they're like they don't want to talk about it. And I'm like, what are you doing in a social event about vehicles? You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_00Um, that's the whole thing is like, hey, I mean, I'm not coming up preaching you about my vehicle, I'm asking about yours. So it should be a real simple, easy conversation for you.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um, so that's my pet peeve one right there. Yep. Um, but man, get out and talk to people. You never know who's right down the street around the corner from you. And you might know somebody in Mississippi now, and when you go there, they're like, Hey, what's going on, Jeremy? You know what I'm saying? Like, you're like, oh hey, how are you going? You know? Yep. Um, and that part I love.
SPEAKER_01Um I agree, that's the part that I enjoy. That's the part that I enjoy too. It's like you walk around, people are like, hey Jeremy, how's it going? You know, it's good to see you out here, you know, and talk about your stuff, see how you're doing, see how things are going. And see how you, you know, see what your project is, you know, how you're coming on your project, stuff like that. I think that's a really good deal. And get people to talk about their car that's right there. And then like I said, my my number one thing is to get the older and the younger generations together, you know. It's okay to have the classic cars and the the mini trucks and the newer cars out there, you know. But there's still a lot of people, the older generation that says, Oh, I don't want to see a 2017 Ford pickup that's got all kinds of stuff done to it. I don't care, you know, I can see that at the dealership any day, you know. But it's what the younger generation's doing, and it's okay with that.
SPEAKER_00So and we all start somewhere.
SPEAKER_01Yep, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03For sure.
SPEAKER_00It's like hey, I didn't I didn't have a X amount on a dollar car or something that was like totally crazy custom back in the day. And I, you know, my first mini truck, um, because that's where I'm based out of, um, you know, was was seven thousand dollars.
SPEAKER_03Right. Brand new.
SPEAKER_00You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00I mean I've got twenty thousand dollars in rent sitting out here right now. You know, it's stupid. Yep. Um all start somewhere and financial situations are different. But the guy that just got the brand new F-150 or even the F 150 that might be early mid 2000s, right? That's what they can do, and their passion is you know, making something custom out of it and support that guy. Yep, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01I agree 100%. You know, like my first car was uh I was in '85. I bought a 76 Pinto or like 600 bucks.
SPEAKER_00You should never tell that story again.
SPEAKER_01I was a pizza delivery guy with that pinto. It was a station wagon version, and uh I bought it.
SPEAKER_00That'd be that'd be awesome now, though.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, yeah. And I had the the 15-inch MTX speakers in it, all that good stuff. So right. People were like, You're getting that sound out of a pinto? I'm like, Yep.
SPEAKER_00That is that is awesome, the two telemetry, because like I like right there, I love it.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00Let's be honest. Everyone hated those cars.
SPEAKER_03Right, right.
SPEAKER_00My sister my sister had one, and we were just talking about it the other day. I was like, I had more fun driving around in your pinto when I was a kid. You know what I mean? I was like, it was a good time, and you like I said, everyone starts at different levels, everyone starts at different things. You can support the person, you can support the build. Let's just have a good time, you know.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, yeah. And that's that's kind of the way it was when we were growing up. You know, we didn't we didn't have a lot of money growing up or anything like that. We just had the uh you know, we had the uh Pinto. Like I said, I bought it for six hundred bucks off of a guy that used to just drive it from his house to the boat dock, you know, so there really wasn't a whole lot of nothing wrong with it. I drove it to school for a while. Uh, you know, everybody loved it. It was it was one of them things and I enjoyed it because like I said, we I delivered pizza in it. Uh, you know, and uh just had a blast in it.
SPEAKER_00So what pizza company did you work for?
SPEAKER_01I worked for Moe's Pizza here in Tyler back in the day. It was behind Kelly Springfield.
SPEAKER_00So are they still around?
SPEAKER_01No, they're not around anymore. Okay.
SPEAKER_00I was like, maybe I can swing out by and get some good pizza.
SPEAKER_01Right. But yeah, no, they uh I worked for them back in the nineties and I think they closed that one down probably around ninety-seven, ninety-eight, but they still had some in different areas like White Oak, Longview, places like that.
SPEAKER_04So I gotcha. Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_01But uh but yeah, that was that was a fun deal to have that. Of course, yeah. I went from a Pinto to a Buick Regal back in the day. Had one of them gold Buick Regals. So and uh that was a fun car. That was the first car I ever got a ticket in. It was like ninety-two and a fifty-five back before the speed limit turned 70.
SPEAKER_00So that's crazy. My my first tick, my first ticket was in the Monte Carlo, same body style.
SPEAKER_01Same body style, yep.
SPEAKER_00Same body style. That was a those that was a big old bulb enrollment.
SPEAKER_01It was great. And it was it was crazy because you get it up to about 8090 and it just floats.
SPEAKER_00So uh Oh yeah, it was great. It's that big, like almost like a Cadillac, it was a cheap Cadillac.
SPEAKER_01Right. And then of course, then we went from that to the uh 86 convertible Mustang was my first Mustang that I got. And uh I've been hooked on Mustangs ever since.
SPEAKER_00So I I had a Mustang also, it was it was a good it was a good time.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00It was it was a it was an expensive legal fee time because I was young. I was young, but um still nevertheless. I know that I know Mustangs get a lot of hate from from people about you know doing stupid stuff, but hey, they're fun.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. If you learn how to if you know how to drive it, it's not stupid stuff, you know. Like I'm like like my 2013, I know how to drive it. Uh you know, I can do a lot of stuff with it and know I know it's breaking point and I know when it's what I can do with it.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, and that and that's the whole thing is like knowing when to take your car to that limit, but then we're good. Some people just can't do it, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Right, for sure.
SPEAKER_00And that's that's why and then they could get uh seven foul seven million views on TikTok because they just went over a media, but yeah, they don't know what they're doing.
SPEAKER_01And and you know, we've we did that. We've seen stuff like that when we were at um uh LMR, uh the Mustang Fest thing in uh Texas Motor Speedway. I don't remember what they call that, the the the LMR deal. Um, but people would be leaving there and end up wrecking out on the median or whatever because they were trying to show off, you know.
SPEAKER_00Trying to show off, yeah. Yeah, and I get it. I mean we all I mean there there is the show off aspect of all custom cars, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00You know, you have the whole thing like the whole thing is just laying your limits. No, it doesn't matter if it's a hot rod, a mini truck, a classic truck. I mean, I've seen people lay their stuff out and you know go sideways too.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um you have to know what you're doing. And like I said, we all want to have fun, I mean we all want to be a little stupid, but um I guess you have to do the parameters, I guess you want to say yourself.
SPEAKER_01You just gotta know your limits.
SPEAKER_00You gotta you gotta yeah, the limits and a lot of times people just you know obviously don't. There's just so many videos about everything about that, but uh right. That also that also can affect the show.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00And um one of my posts lately was about a show. Um they just posted they had to cancel next year's show because of the stupidity, whether purposely or not purposely, um canceled out on that town.
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah, and I've seen I've seen a bunch of things like cruise ins or cruise nights get get canceled because of people burning out, doing stupid stuff at the burnout at at the cruise ends, you know. When it's pretty bad that you gotta sit there and say respect the parking lot. Of course, you know, you can't scope anybody when they're when they're doing it, you know, but but it's you know it's it's sad that we have to tell people that, you know, respect the parking lot, respect the the area, respect the promoter. And uh, you know, I I agree with all that 100%, you know. Don't act up, whatever you do on the street, that's up to you. But don't don't do it in the at the events.
SPEAKER_00Away, a way away from the show, like because that all affects it. And then people complain, well, you remember when we used to do this? Yeah, it was cool until someone screwed it up.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00You know what I mean? And the reason we we can't have that parking lot anymore, or the reason we can't hang out here anymore is because of this. Um there is a group over here, um, it's a it's a it's a club, they're called Texas Chaos. Um, and they put on this great little old school event, and I help them promote it or whatever. And it's like on a Friday night, once a month, we get together in this parking lot, right? Right, and it's so old school feel, like people just roll up, throw out your chairs, and you just hang out, and you're walking around talking, it's about it's about 60 vehicles last time. But because we're promoting it a little bit more, yeah, we had a little group of audio guys come in, which is not bad, except for one guy wanted just to keep playing the music. And so finally I was like, hey man, that's cool. We want you to be here, but we just can't have it like for two minutes and then just that's it.
SPEAKER_01Play it for a few minutes and show it off and and turn it on.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's all these businesses here. There's police that are driving by here all the time, but they don't mess with us. Right. Don't like the don't drive through and wave and be like, hey guys, how you doing? And that's what we we need to keep it as, you know what I mean? Um and so little things like that, and I know you're having them out there having a good time, but the good time is for us is to go and hang out and talk and look at awesome vehicles, right?
SPEAKER_01Right. Meet meet other car enthusiasts and hang out and get to know each other.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and the same thing, like literally um we're in a little packet of like amazing vehicles out here, right? So um, you know, we have a little S10 that rolls in, you say it's in primer, we're all hanging out talking to him. Then Chevy Nova comes in that's fully blown, right? And we're just like he's parking right next to him. We're all having a good time.
SPEAKER_01You know what I mean? No matter what the age group is, the gap is, it's all it's all about having a good time.
SPEAKER_00It's all about having a good time, hanging out, chopping it up with people laughing, telling old stories, making new stories, all that good stuff.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, and I hear amazing stuff. Like this one gentleman, I've seen him around and he came in and he's like he's like, Oh, you did he had some new uh Wheels on his truck, and I was like, Oh man, that looks really good. He ends up telling me about the story about his truck.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Well he came home as a baby in this truck. A single channel square body. And he was like, the ad book is brand new, and a tree fell on it, and then fixed it, and now I have it to this point. And I'm like, that's awesome. Like those types of stories, I'm like, the truck is part of the family. It's a part of the family now, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00And I I love to hear that type of stuff. So getting into these I love the big shows, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Oh, because the big shows bring out craziness.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Not as what I do with taking pictures and video, they can't sit and talk to you for forever. And it sounds so terrible, right?
SPEAKER_01Right. Well, that's the same way when you're hosting a car show. It's like, you know, yeah, like what as I'm doing, you know, people are like, hey man, you got a minute at it? I was like, yep, I got a second, you know, because um I'm judging a hundred, hundred and eighty vehicles and yeah, and trying to get everything done so we can get awards going by two o'clock. You know, the longer I sit and talk to somebody, the longer it's gonna take the show, you know. So I get it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And so like for the small shows, well, I can sit out, hang out, we can chop it up for however long.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00I will tell you if anybody sees me out there and you want to talk, I'll talk to you. You just gotta keep going with me.
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah, walk with me. Yeah, that's that's the way it is for me too. Otherwise, it's like, hey, I'm sorry, I gotta run, you know, I got other things to do.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because I've had people come up and like, hey man, I got one buffer. I'm like, you're not bothering me, come on, let's go. And um, just walk with me, you know, because I gotta keep it moving, you know what I mean? Right. Um until I get done, and then when I get done, I'm like, let's all hang out, let's get over. And that's again the social part of it that I love.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, yeah, me too.
SPEAKER_00I was talking to another, I guess, we all's content creators or whatever.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um we we're talking about like not depicting the sports. I like watching basketball here and there, but like I don't go into the playoffs or whatever, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00But some people you know can all go to sports bars because they're like-minded people. Well, that's what the car shows are for, it's right. That's what the street meets are for. That's what the street meets are for.
SPEAKER_03Exactly.
SPEAKER_00And so let's all go hang out, let's just support big and small ones, because um, if you ever look at my coverage, you'll see that I go to smallest street meetings, the biggest car shows.
SPEAKER_01Right. And that's similar to what what we do, of course. You know, we we go to the car shows, we support other car shows that are going on around here, uh, when I don't have one. Uh, and then, you know, like last Tuesday, you know, we have a little cruise in at Whataburger and like 20 cars there and got to meet with a lot of people that were actually at the show Saturday that we did, and you know, sit and talk to them more. And uh that's one good thing about like the cruise in, the cruise nights, uh cars and coffee, stuff like that. It's you know, you can sit and talk with a lot of them that that you know when I'm at a show, if it's my show, it's hard to sit and talk to everybody because I'm super busy, but it's it's great to be to do the one-on-one at the shows, at the cruise ins and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_00And I'm gonna tell you this too. I have more respect for you guys that are putting on these shows. I did a show last year and I loved and hated it all at the same time. Um it was like it was like, okay, I've been around this show stuff forever. I got this. I mean, it was good. I had two just over 200 vehicles, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um, it was fun, it was a learning experience, but I have no desire to do it again.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and every show, you know, like I said, we've been doing shows for about four years now, and uh we've we've done quite a few of them. The first year we did three, second year we did like eight, uh, I think, and then we went to twenty, you know, and now it's like twenty-four, twenty-five. But we do a lot of like the community shows where it's like the tomato fest in Jacksonville. We do uh, you know, little mini old iron horse, you know. We do a bunch of shows like that, plus we do some for different benefits and things, and we do some for us too.
SPEAKER_00Um, but um I gotta give give a just because you said every now before I forget, yeah. A shout out to a show that I think you're coming to also.
SPEAKER_01Which one's that?
SPEAKER_00Relaxing at the Ranch.
SPEAKER_01Relaxing at the Ranch, yes, I am coming to that show. I will be set up and probably doing some podcast stuff while I'm at that show.
SPEAKER_00So Okay, so we we went there last year and it was awesome.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I heard it was. I had a show that day that I was hosting. I couldn't make it that last year, but cleared my calendar for that show this year.
SPEAKER_00I mean, don't have a good mixture of cars, not you know, there's hot rides, there's trucks, there's mini trucks, you know, I mean everything was there, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um, and his place is a mess.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's what I heard.
SPEAKER_00His this sounds so crazy. And even how they had their their food vendor set up, it was like a food court underneath the tree.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's awesome. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_00I mean, no, it was awesome. Like he had no this is it was a first year show for him too.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00And he had the stuff planned out and it was like super awesome.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, they come they came out to they came out to a couple of our shows this in August. They came out to our Canton show and uh uh Bets for Bets that we did last week. Yeah, and uh yeah, they're they're great people and uh I can't wait to to be up there relaxing at the ranch this year.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, man, it's it's gonna be a good we'll we'll be up there. We w we made it a one day show, which is hard for us because we're based out of Conroe.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00But um this year we'll we'll definitely be up there Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
SPEAKER_03Nice.
SPEAKER_00Uh you know, even though it's a one day even though it's a one-day show.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00So everything we don't have to make that push, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. Well cool. We'll we'll be able to uh maybe do hangout Friday or something while you're up there. Because uh like I said, there's some really big shows around here that we're gonna we're gonna try to be at, which relaxing at the ranch, we are gonna be at. Uh I told uh sunset uh guys that we're gonna be at Dan at the Lake also. We're probably come out there at least one day. Uh and that's out here in Tyler this year. Um, and it's it's a really nice the boulders is a really nice RV park venue right there at Lake Tyler.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I was looking at pictures of that place. That thing looks freaking awesome.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's pretty nice. Um and then there was another one I can't think of it. That's had relax. Oh yeah, Dragon Destroy 2 and Fourny. Uh I'll be up there. We'll be up there uh judging. I'll be a special judge up there this year.
SPEAKER_00So well heck yeah.

SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's uh Dragon Destroy. I know it's you know, Hometown Hot Rodder Podcast is doing is part is in on it, uh, which is uh a friend of ours, Brian Thompson. Uh, and then you got maps by White Boy Mike, he's bonsai cruisers, uh, cars and coffee rockwall. We're doing it. I mean, there's a lot of stuff that the other people are joining in and doing the show. So I'm hoping it's gonna be two or three hundred cars. So I think it'll be a really fun, fun deal. One day show in Fourney.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, that sounds like I might try to make it to that one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it's at uh OC in Fourny, and it's got like an indoor food court with like place for 700 vehicles to sit out there.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So it's gonna be big.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that I that would have to be a day show, but I'm not trying to make it out there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's one thing that's one thing about Texas is we always got something going on somewhere.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_00And our qu our quality of of vehicles that just pop in are amazing.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, yeah, and it's that's that's just like the Canton Trays Days, you know. We do five shows for them a year, and it's every single one of them, it's unreal because we're right there close to Terrell and and all that in Canton. So you've got East Texas and Dallas area and all that people coming up, and it's the cars are just amazing that that pull up, you know. And uh the shows that we we put on it's you caliber of cars that are coming out are just unreal. So like I said, yeah, Cope Kessler with the with that Cadillac. Uh you know, you've got Dave Miro with his wagon. I mean, it's just there's just a ton of really nice cars. Donnie Limbach comes out to our shows with his sh cars that he runs all over the country with. So that's awesome. So it's uh it's a lot of fun. You know, and of course, like I said, we're trying to get we we promote the race vehicles as well at our shows. You know, I'm uh I've always been big on racing, so um, you know, we try to we try to get an award out there for race vehicles and Tomato Fest, we had like four drag cars out there, four or five of them out there, you know. And uh that's just cool to see, you know. Yeah. Uh the race stuff is really neat because it's like from you have gassers like the Plymouth Belvedere all the way up to Mustangs that are souped up, you know, stuff like that. So uh it's it's really neat to see that because you know, you not only see the mint condition cars, you get to see cars that are, you know, race cars or or mini trucks or you know, things like that. So and that's that's what we like to try to do is get the whole variety of everybody at the shows, not just the classics.
SPEAKER_00Yep. So yeah, definitely. It's it's always good to have a mixture. And something else I was talking to someone else got is some shows seem to try to steer, like you have one genre.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00And I think you kind of get that, but you're never going to grow.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um and you're actually, in my opinion, going to sooner or later if you're not already to decline, because you can only have so many many junk. You can only have so many classics, right? Whatever that whatever that genre is.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um so the mixture to me the the more mixtures you can have, the better.
SPEAKER_03I agree.

SPEAKER_00Um I would love have you heard of uh cruising the coast?
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00So I can I've just never been able to make it back and start starting to use again.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Um is it is it predominantly high rides?
SPEAKER_01Uh I think it's a mixture of everything. I know they have over nine thousand almost ten thousand cars registered this year. So I mean I think it's it's a lot of classics, but I think it's a mix of more than classics because of cruising so much.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, it definitely is. They I mean they have pro streets that are just rolling down the street, rumbling, you know what I mean? Right. Then you got a straight up classic next to them, and then you have a you know C10 rolling through. So yeah, I love it. I that's I love that part of it.
SPEAKER_01Um Yeah, I haven't I haven't been there. I haven't been to one of those yet, but I have a bunch of friends of ours that that will go down there. And of course, every time they do it, uh right now, I have a car show in October at Canton Trace Days now. So but uh I got some members some friends that are going to it, but they're gonna come back early so they can be at my show for dudes for boobs October 10th in Canton.
SPEAKER_00So those are some pretty good friends because that cruising the coast is awesome.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Not to say, not saying that your show's not, but I'm just saying I mean No, I hear you. That's that's a huge that's a huge trip. So those dudes for the support.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um for sure. But uh, I am gonna say the one thing so another another show that I go to here is called Ma North I mean, I'm sorry, Southeast of Indianals events.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um and the show is awesome.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Seven hundred seven hundred and fifty vehicles in the show. Seven hundred of them are main charts, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00But where the real magic happens is in the town of Maggie Valley.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I've heard I've heard about that. I heard it was pretty nice.
SPEAKER_00The town is beautiful. And you just they allow everybody to go up and down cruising is three miles a day. You go up three miles, you turn around, cruise down three miles, and you just do it as much as you want, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's awesome.
SPEAKER_00But that's the social side of things for for the truck.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Because you can walk six miles up and then three miles up one way and three miles down the other way, so six miles over the people the whole time. Right. There's literally thousands of people on the street. Um and I would like to do something more like that, like you know, Texas, you know, to easy to just find the right place.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00But um that social side of it, that after things watch us bring us together, let's do something that's controlled and people and people are all act up.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00And that's what and that's why I stayed there so far so long.
SPEAKER_01For sure. Um yeah, uh, you know, next year we have a we have a show actually, we're hosting a show at Lukenbach, Texas next year. And uh Oh man, that'd be awesome. Yeah, and I'm gonna try to do some kind of uh like a Friday cruise or something like that, or a cruise one at one of the restaurants up there. And of course, you know, cruise Fredericksburg and stuff like that while we're up there Friday night. So I think it'll be a really neat deal. Plus, um that's what we're we're trying to do with a lot of the shows next year. We've got that one in Broken Arrow uh next year right there in Tulsa. And uh that's gonna be in September next year. And we have basically Friday, we're gonna do like a cruise through like the the old movie, the outsider movie, uh was filmed out there. And uh yeah. So we're gonna do like some cruises through like the movie locations and see the house that's a museum and stuff like that, and maybe end up at the drive-in theater. I think it'll be really cool and then Saturday do the car show.
SPEAKER_00Anything involving in you know, driving movie theater that's still up is cool.
SPEAKER_03Yes, right?
SPEAKER_00You know, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03For sure.
SPEAKER_00I mean, there's I mean we used to have one down here, um, like you know, revived it type thing, and it and it's gone under again. Um but yeah, that I mean that's that's a perfect place to go hang out. I mean half people probably want to watch the movie, they just want to go out there and be in that vibe, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Yep, for sure.
SPEAKER_00Um so that was super cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, for sure. I think the closest one around us is like in Ennis, uh that I think it's the Galaxy or something like that. Um, but no, there's not very many of them around anymore. So I think it'd be really neat to do that on that Friday and just to like dinner in a movie, you know, cruise around, dinner in a movie, and enjoy it, and then uh have Saturday have the the show. So I think it's gonna be a really neat deal.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's a very good idea. Like I said, anything with the driver movie theater. I mean, we all we all like the nostalgia of things.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00It's nice to have the newness of things because even though I have you know a mini truck, I'm not trying to drive it a thousand miles.
SPEAKER_03Right, right.
SPEAKER_00I do like the creature comforts of the new.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um it's getting older, you know, that's that's an issue.
SPEAKER_01Yep. Um Yep, I know what you mean.
SPEAKER_00Did I really need those ACT scenes? Yeah. Uh yep.
SPEAKER_03I hear you.
SPEAKER_00Um, but yeah, so the nostalgia stuff of it, and you know, anytime you can do a show that's in like an older town, right? Um that that allows like the backdrop for photos and videos and stuff is just amazing.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Um so it's uh that's all awesome.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and that's that's kind of what what we do when we try to look for some really cool places to do shows. You know, we we don't just look for a middle of a parking lot, we look for something like that's really cool, kind of like the uh we've done shows at water parks, we've done shows at R V parks, you know, we've done many shows at different places, you know, and it's it's better to do something where you have something to do. Uh you know, and we we try to do some at uh drag strips, but uh you know this their schedule pushes car shows around a little bit. So but I've had one scheduled at Pine Valley in Lufkin once and it went from like May to late October and on a Sunday, so I was like, eh, I don't want to do that, you know.
SPEAKER_00So yeah. But yeah, drag drag ships are they're nice because they have the room some mo most of the time.

SPEAKER_00They have the room for like spectators too.

SPEAKER_00Um but getting the facility, uh, you know, that's all that can always be an issue because they're trying to do their thing too, you know.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, for sure, because they gotta mix, you know, can't just be the show. It's gotta have everything that they're doing. So and and I get it, and that's fine. Uh but yeah, we uh uh like I said, we've done numerous different things, like you know, I'm looking forward to that Brays Museum down there towards y'all. Uh they've got that little track and they're they've got a Baja track out there now. Uh they're putting in a little oval track now, also.
SPEAKER_00Is the show gonna be out there on the track or is it good they have a big area for it?
SPEAKER_01They have that big parking area out front. And uh but they're adding a whole other building and doing a lot more stuff out there that should by April it's gonna be really, really neat next year.
SPEAKER_00So Yeah, I mean I've driven I've only driven by there. It's always one of those things where I'm going to another car shop in your area.
SPEAKER_04Right, right.
SPEAKER_00We just haven't got to it. But that's cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we went down there for like 4th of July and watched the fireworks. It was like a $50,000 fireworks show for like 30 minutes, uh sitting out there and he had free food and and craft beer and stuff like that out there, and it was it was really neat. And you know, you walk through the museum, there's there's all kinds of cars. And of course they sell cars there too. And uh classics and stuff like that, plus have like a big Lego display. Uh they got like a big jet that's flying across in the in the room, it's kind of held up that's made out of Legos. They got uh Transformer guy made out of Legos. I mean it's I'm I'm there then I'm I'm all about Transformers that's yeah, I think they got Optimus Prime as a Lego character and he's like twelve feet tall. So that's just kind of cool. It's gonna be really neat. Really neat show. I I look forward to that one and and hopefully d probably do some more there next year. Uh I've already looking at my schedule, I already got quite a few, but uh we'll probably do more than one there next year just to get just to help help them and and have shows at really cool areas.
SPEAKER_00Well when I when I first found out about Hazelwood, yeah in you, and I don't really remember how I came, probably came across my feet somewhere or whatever. Um then I kind of like I was like, oh let me see what this is about. And I looked and I was like I was like, oh, this is cool. Like, oh this is cool. And I was like, hey, how many shows did this dude do? And I even asked somebody about you, and I was like, hey, what do you know about these people? And they're like, oh yeah, man, they're big people, and they're like, they just do a lot of stuff for the community, and I'm like, all right, that's freaking awesome, right? Because um getting into a sticky subject a little bit, right? Um, some shows are money grab shows, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00And I'm a pretty good indicator now of okay, they're just doing that for whatever. Um give anything back to the community. And I'm listening, shows there are shows that need to make money, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00And that's got the type of show. But a lot of these guys and the big promoters that I know, you know, they'll they'll donate some of that money to charity or whatever.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Now they're that's not their main goal. Let's not lie about it, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00You can still do it. Um but some shows are pure charity, which is awesome too. Right. And looking at the your shows, it looks like you have, you know, that mixture, you like, you know, all the stuff that you're doing is like community-based, and I was like, I love that.
SPEAKER_01Okay, because Yeah, we do we do a lot of them for we do very few that are for us. We do a lot more for charities and communities. Um that's that's kind of what we got started. We got started doing that, you know, and it um the first show, uh, it was just a kind of a fundraiser, and we did it at Splash Kingdom and Canton, and it was fun. We had a good show. Uh, and then we did the first uh Dues for Boobs car show. We've done three of them. We're on our fourth one now for them. And you know, it's it's all about raising money for them to help people uh with battle bre while they're battling breast cancer. It doesn't it doesn't go to research or anything like that. It actually goes to somebody that applies for aid while they're battling breast cancer. So if they need help paying uh medical bills or buying groceries or gas because they're spending all that money on breast cancer treatments and things like that. So we we help Dudes for Boobs raise money for that, and that's that's uh one of the main shows that we do every year uh and look forward to it every year. Um but you know, we've done like Jackson's. Texas, the the Tomato Fest, that money is 100% goes to the Jacksonville uh adopt a school scholarship to where it sends kids to school. Um we've done you know first responders scholarships where we help kids in Henderson County, uh which is where I live, uh basically go to school to be a first responder, you know. And we do a lot of different ones like that, you know. And there's there is some that we do for us, like Luke and Box, stuff like that, but we still but we still donate money back to our communities. And not everybody does that. Everybody some of them will put a show on week after week and and it won't go anywhere, you know, but in their pocket. And uh that's that's okay too. That's their right, that's what they want to do. Um, but you know, giving back is one of the reasons why we started doing this.
SPEAKER_00So and that's awesome that she said that about um the money actually going to people to help with their basic needs. Yeah, because they're they might be out of a job or whatever happens, or they're paying for whatever. You just don't know how much that little whatever that dollar amount is that they get really helped them.
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah, I think the the uh first first one we did, uh we had a lady that was uh uh we live down towards Houston and she's a friend of ours, battling cancer, breast cancer, and you know, we did like a show for her, uh plus we did the Dudes for Boob show, and all the money for her in both of those shows pretty much went to her to help battle breast cancer, help help while she's battling. Uh we had another lady that was up here in Bullard that we helped as well. Um pay your mortgage, help, you know, do a lot of things for her. Um and then there was one in Grand Celine that we helped as well. So uh you know, and it's that's that's the reason why we do what we do with dudes for boobs. So people are like, What's dudes for boobs? What's that? What's a what's a better charity to help than dudes for boobs with the car shows? Because you know, it's uh it's the guys, car show guys, you know. So and everybody loves boobs.
SPEAKER_00So this is this this little message as well for the listeners, because this is a soapbox about that. Um there is a local show here, the first year show. Um it was for four each kids, right? And all the money went directly to their scholarships.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00Okay.

SPEAKER_00They were charging for a $40 entry fee. Okay. And there was more than a few people that were upset because they had to pay for $40 to enter.
SPEAKER_01Oh, there's there's people that complain about having to pay $25 over $20.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, and I I'm not gonna lie to any, I went off on it. Yeah, I was like I can understand that this was a show for profit and they're trying to get everyone for four for $40 for a one-day show or whatever that would be, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Super small. It was only gonna be for a few hours.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, everything here has been donated in awards, the food, yeah, the venue, all have and all of them donated everything for charity.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00It was not there that all this money was going directly to these kids, right?
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00So one guy was like, I'm not gonna spend $40 for me and my wife to come, and he was like, blah, blah, blah. And I'm not gonna lie, I'm gonna not run it. I was like, I want you there. Yeah, I'm like, if you it's important, it's like this is a hundred percent going to the kids.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00Like if I can get it if it was for a month money thing, yeah, don't go to it. If you don't want to go to it, that's your thing. Um when it comes down to charity skills like that, I don't know, it's pulling on the heartstrings, I guess, a little bit. Oh, it's like for sure. I'm gonna I'm gonna let you know because it's just like you want to come on, you want to be like, oh, this is terrible, blah, blah, blah. It's not what's terrible about supporting kids' cause.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_00Or um booth's cost or whatever that cost is. I mean, it's I just I just don't get it.
SPEAKER_01Yep. Well, and then that what I don't get, what what gets me is like when we're hosting these shows and these people are like, okay, uh, you know, they show up and they're like, Well, what's your what's your trophy look like? And I'm like, does it matter? You're you're helping people, you know. Uh whether you get a plaque or a trophy or whatever, you know, you're helping people, and that's what it should be about. You know, don't get mad because you didn't get a ten dollar plaque. But you know, hey, think about where your money's going. So yeah, but there's there's still always those people that that you know they expect uh they always expect something for nothing, you know, for it.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, and I'm I'm told dude that whatever the registration is, if I come to your show, I'm gonna park my vehicle and I'm gonna walk off.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00Like I'm not if I get a trophy, cool. If I don't, that's cool too. Yep. Now some of these awards that people are making are pretty cool, they're almost like artwork. So I want it for that aspect of it, but not because I think I'm better than whatever.
SPEAKER_02Right. Right.
SPEAKER_00But but at the same time, I mean, I'm paying 20 or 40 bucks and hanging out for someone, what's the difference if I you would do that if you went to a club or to a bar or whatever? I think like-minded people getting you get to hang out up to hang out for hours and you're gonna be supporting the scene, you're supporting the show. Um and car car shows aren't cheap to put on.
SPEAKER_01No, they're not. No, they're not.
SPEAKER_00And people people don't think about oh, they had to pay for porta parties.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Oh, they had to pay for security overnight. Right. You know, people get lost on that. So people have to do that.
SPEAKER_01You know?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's there's a lot more than just all all they had to do is get awards. Definitely not. Um so people that are like doing these shows, like we doing these shows, like I said, I have all due respect for health because it's a lot. Um and uh getting out there doing the charity shows, people just get out there and do it. And if you get an award, you get an award. If you don't, just help some child or someone with a disease or whatever that is, right? Get, you know, moments of help, and that's worth every penny.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's just like this weekend, you know, we did the Vets for Vets show, and it's you know, it's a Corvette group that raises money for veterans to help remo remodel their houses. You know, we had 110 cars there and it turned into uh almost 10 grand uh donated, you know, basically through the show, you know. So between the show and donations, and it you know, it goes because the veteran doesn't have a uh AC in his house and they're putting in central heat and air, they're putting in new roof, they're doing all kinds of stuff for it. So one and uh that's awesome. You know, that's that's a really cool cool deal. It's a good feeling to be able to help people with doing car shows, you know, and I and I get it, you know, there's people out there that make money doing it. This is a hobby for for us, you know, me and my wife and and our friends. And uh, but we we enjoy helping people and doing good with it. So um and that's that's what that's why we do so many of them. We don't just do one charity a year, and that's kind of why we have so many shows, because we do multiple things, you know, whether it's uh the 4-H Club or the scholarships for you know, or whatever, we do uh numerous shows to be able to help people in numerous different ways, more than just one charity a year.
SPEAKER_00So Yeah, and that's a that's amazing. Kind of like spurting the love around, you know what I mean? It's just like Yeah. Because, you know, yeah, doing multiple charities and everything is amazing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I agree. Uh you know, and and like I said, there's so many different things out there that people need help with or or even a family, you know, like last year even we just we had we did a show on a Sunday to help send uh marching band out of Overton to Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade just to help raise money so they can make the trip, you know. Um and that's that's why we do what we do, uh to help people's dreams come true, basically, you know, and uh help people that that need help. So uh and it it's it's a good feeling to do it.
SPEAKER_00So 100% a good feeling to do that. And there's and there's nothing wrong with that too, you know what I'm saying? It's like hey, we're doing this can we get some type of you know satisfaction of doing it? Absolutely, and there's no no reason you know, to do it. So it's like we're doing it to help people, and it makes us happy helping people. Why not? It's a w it's a win-win, you know.
SPEAKER_01Well, I agree, I agree, and it's you know, when people are like, well, you know, like they see me out there doing the shows and stuff, and they're like, Well, you know, and he's I'm I'm not the type of person that that that tries to get out there in the limelight and go, well, look, look what I did, look what I'm doing. You know, we just we show, you know, we we put on the shows and we have a good time and and I take the thank yous and all that, the great shows and all that, and I I go home, you know, and and it's and uh I'm happy with the smiles that we put on people's face for for what we do. And you know, that's that's my reward for for what we do. And uh you know everybody that comes to the shows and supports the the benefits, uh, you know, uh I appreciate them 100% the support for for what we do. And uh, you know, there's people that will tell me, hey, you know, does for boobs, we're gonna be there no matter what. That's a show that we're coming for, you know. It's awesome, you know, and it's it's a great deal.
SPEAKER_00So it's really awesome to have that type of support and you know, from from the community. Like they're giving the community, but the community gives back too, you know. It's like kind of that circle right there.
SPEAKER_03For sure.
SPEAKER_00Everyone has to pick up, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03It's like for sure.
SPEAKER_00So keep supporting the local shows, keep not doing stupid stuff, you know.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah.

Don't act up at the shows so that the shows can still happen and help people and and uh you know the main the main thing that I you know that I'm really trying to do is like I said, the classics, the mini trucks, the modern, uh, you know, the the different age groups, uh everybody's, you know, our shows, everybody's welcome. We try to do uh most of the shows are you know open to everybody. Uh there's a few of them that we do like this weekend, it's 99 in older cars, but uh it's mainly for the room. It's not for the it's not trying to delete anybody out of it, it's just for the room that's that's at the show, you know. And uh we do an all Ford show at Ford's Garage, you know. That's one once a year we do that show just for fun. And uh uh other all that, other than that, everything else is for everybody to enjoy, you know.
SPEAKER_00But I think that's still cool because even though it's not um kind of considered niche show shows.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You do so many.
SPEAKER_01Right, right. And that's you're catching somebody so much. I've had people mad at me going, Hey, uh, you know, you're putting on a Ford show, uh, and I have five Chevies and I can't come. And I'm like, well, next week I'll have another show for everybody.
SPEAKER_00So next weekend I got three more here, next weekend I got three more here. Yeah, yeah. You know get in on your fit in.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and we actually have two happening this weekend at the same time. We have I'm doing one in Dallas for Strokers, and I have a buddy of mine hosting one in Jacksonville for the police association. So wow, yeah, so it's it's gonna be a fun deal all weekend. So yeah. Um it's a lot. Oh yeah, for sure. But uh man, I appreciate you uh coming on here. Anything else that you want to say before we uh cut it off here?
