Civically Speaking - A conversation with Dr. Kyle Anderson, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology Dept., Unv. of Sask, on the state of COVID19 in Saskatchewan
Dear Listeners,
Thank you for tuning into Civically Speaking. Much appreciation.
In this episode, Dr. Kyle Anderson, a professor in the Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Immunology Department with the University of Saskatchewan, shares some excellent information about the mechanics behind COVID19 and pathways forward.
Dr. Anderson is able to break down the mechanics of Covid19 in simple ways. His use of helpful analogies gives us a better understanding of where the path is moving forward in terms of dealing with COVID19 in Saskatchewan, and by extension, to the rest of the world.
I am hoping this interview sparks people's interest to become even more involved in this field of science and medicine. Such a crucial subject area. We are all becoming citizen scientists and nerding out without even sometimes really being aware of such. And, at times, we may know more then we wish, by virtue of being part of living through an early 21st Century pandemic.
Indeed, the fields of biochemistry, microbiology and immunology - as you will find defined online via any number of links - is about studying the world of viruses, bacteria, yeasts, protozoa, moulds and related and how they affect human and animal health. What a fascinating field that includes examining the immune system and looking for antibiotics and vaccines to respond to things like COVID19.
Thanks Dr. (Kyle) Anderson. Really enjoyed the discussion.
And listeners, please support community radio wherever you are, including in our wonderful city of Saskatoon and province.
Civically Speaking aims to create a 'commons' for the sharing of a mix of voices, opinions, perspectives, professional and community-wise - informed, impassioned and otherwise. Views of others are their own and not representative of either the station this is aired on, the podcast carrier you listen to this on, or myself . The commons encourages each of us to get involved, do our own research, and join the commons in whatever way we can with whatever topic or issue of interest.
Thanks again for tuning in. Please share this episode and others with those you think would be interested.
