STILL TRANSFORMING | Part 14 | Manuel Magana
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Talk about this at the end of the year. Idea of transformation continues to transform. Idea of understanding that we are always seeking God transformation in our lives. This idea of idea of a truth, that transformation doesn't stop, but it continues in your walk with God. By the reviewing of your mind, acceptable. By the reviewing of your mind be changed to uh different things. By reviewing your mind. Um before we try to find out for X forty two. I ask you now. C the three. This is what needs to be. This is what needs to be changed. The mind, the way you think. It's the body that pours the soul, and the spirit pours into the soul. What you take in from the world pours into the mind. What you receive from the world through your body pours into the mind. Also, which we'll talk about a little bit more in a little bit, spirit receives too. Spirit receives in this material world. It's the material world we're live in, but the material world still offers the gospel of Christ, still offers the word, still offers the truth. You're here today. Look at today, you're you're living, right? You're you're in the world, you're living. You came to church, and what's being poured into you today through your senses is the word. Say amen to that. It's being poured into you today, but it's going through your body, it's going through your mind, and it's going right into your spirit. Thank God for that today. You know why? Because some of you may be half asleep today, but your spirit's gonna catch it anyway, okay? Like you I see some of you, uh, listen. I told you a few weeks ago when I was youth pastoring, we talked to teenagers, and you see teenagers in the crowd, and we just they I mean they just look like they were out of it. I would always tell it, encourage other youth pastors, hey, when you speak, just remember their spirits catch it. Spirits catch it. The body to the body, that's what the Bible says. It pierces through the body, pierces even through the soul, reaches your spirit. So your spirit then what? It absorbs and pours back into your mind. Spirit receives it, it says, the mind, this is good. Mind this is the way we want to think. So as these images hopefully have been more kind of ingrained within your mind and ingrained within your heart. There's two words I want to draw your attention to. And one is intention, the other one is information. Intention and information, or intentional and information. We'll get rid of the image in the back and look that up. A renewed mind requires us to be intentional about the information we take in. A renewed mind requires us to be intentional about the information we take in. What do we mean by intentional today? If you see on the bottom, intentional, it means it must be done. It has to be done. It must be this way. It's on purpose. Like it's it's deliberate. Like I this is intentional. It's I got this is the way it's gotta be, the way it's gotta be uh happening. There's no question about it. It's intentional. And I tell you today that when we talk about this idea of a renewed mind, it requires us to be intentional. Like there's a certain way I gotta do it, a certain way must be done about what what needs to be done, the information you're taking in. The information that you're receiving, what's your intent behind it, what's the purpose behind it, what must be done regarding the information that you're receiving. A few weeks ago I told you that this idea or this revelation, well, revelation, and then here's another part of that is that when the word of God or or or your fellowship with God or hearing the word, when it comes into you, it comes in as information, but then it goes out of you as revelation. Maybe it doesn't make sense in the moment, but then the spirit helps your mind to understand through the Holy Spirit, and the next thing you know, something clicks, I get it. Now you live that out. That's revelation. But there's a part of that that I do want to highlight today. God's word specifically comes into us, God's word comes into us as information, and out of us is revelation. There's that part in the beginning, the information part, that today I want to give a little more attention to. Because show me the next image if you don't mind, it's image four now. Information's being poured in. You leave today, information's poured in. Go through your week, information's poured in. You're receiving. You're receiving and you're taking in information. Look at billboards, and maybe you don't think about it much, but that's information you take in. Uh you just notice things, you see things. And sometimes there's small things you notice, but you're like, oh yeah, I noticed that. Like, like, for example, random, like, did you know they got rid of the buy one double cheeseburger get one for a dollar? I saw that the other day and I said, how dare they? I was curious, I really was. It was just quick information I took in. We'll talk about it. You know, but you know, like, it's just quick information I took in. You're always taking in information. So, so here's kind of what I wanted to tell you. Put it on the board. Hear me. A renewed mind doesn't happen by accident. You just don't happen to fall into it. You just don't happen to, like, oh, there it is. You just don't happen to be like, whoa, cool, it just came out of nowhere. No. It's not an accident. Finish the statement for us. It is a result of consistent, intentional exposure. If you hear me, godly truth. Which is information. Part of the information. Godly truth, information you're taking in. And this exposure is what's gonna help reshape that mind of yours. This exposure of godly truth and intentionally receiving this information, this godly truth that you bring in, it's gonna help bring this renewed mind about. It's gonna help bring a change of thought, a change of processing. Hear me, look at me. If you want to change your life, you need to change your thinking. And how many know we could always use changes in our lives? Who can use changes in their lives? Raise your hand. If you didn't raise your hand, you're a liar, you need a change. See how quickly it happens, right? Like, oh. You need to change. Look at your neighbor, tell them you need a change. Your neighbor, you need to change. Look at your other neighbor, the one you don't like, especially you. You need a change. So as we expose ourselves to godly information, expose ourselves to God's truth, that reshaping of our mind, the reshaping of our thinking becomes possible. And like in prior weeks, I do want to give like this special attention to God's word. Because hear me, when we intentionally fill our minds with the word, again, intentional, it must be done. It's on purpose, it's deliberate. When we intentionally fill our mind with God's word, it can begin to reshape our lives. Psalm 119, 11, put on the board, New Living Translation. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Awesome verse. Let me show you in the easy translation. I always keep your message in my mind so I do not do anything bad against you. Funny how that works. Keep your message in my mind, keep it within my heart. It's buried within there. And why? What's the result? There's a result to it. It's a cause and effect. I take it in because I need it. What's the effect? The effect is I see change in my life. I don't sin. I see things that I was doing wrong. I don't do them anymore. It's the information that comes in, the godly truth that comes in, when it's intentional, when it's with purpose, when it's feeding a reason to your life, it will begin to help bring about that change. Because put it on the board, taking in godly truth equips us to live differently. I take in this truth because I need to be different. You're here today because you you need to be different. You're here today because you got to take in to be able to see and begin to understand that I need something different in life. Listen, I don't care if you're doing well today and you have all the money in the world and everything's going well for you, and all everything's just peaches and cream and you're happy and every day is good. Let me tell you something. You need God in your life. Say amen to that. You know what you need? You need godly truth, you need godly information. Because I'm telling you right now, even if you are saved and things are going well, there will come a day where you're gonna need to know what godly truth is, what God's word says, to have it in your heart. Because when you're challenged, you won't fall back into old patterns. So, what do you do? You get ready, you set yourself up, change the way you think today so that you can think correctly in the future. Say amen to that. I like that one. Change the way you think today so you can think correctly in the future. And if you think you have nothing to change about your thinking, I will pray with you at their service because the devil is lying to you. There's always something regarding our thinking that needs to be adjusted and transformed. So think, begin to change your thinking today, and you can think correctly in the future. Because that's what God's Word does. It prepares us to think correctly so that we can live differently. It strengthens us internally before it shows externally. You take it in, you take it in. Eventually it begins to show itself, it begins to reveal yourself itself. And with the help of the Holy Spirit, which we'll get into probably next week, we begin to see how we can make this word not just a thing within us, but a word that is seen through our lives as well. Ultimately, renewal starts within. It starts within us. Taking in godly truth equips us. We take it in. It starts within us. That's the renewing, that's the changing, it begins within. So why am I using the word intention today? Why am I using this specific word information we kind of get? But why intention? Well, put the next image on the board. Intention. Hear me? Every day we're taking in not just information in random places, but we take it in in conversations. We take it in in our home. We take it in in the media. We take it in in our culture. You take in the information. Even if you're at work and they're gossiping by the cooler, you kind of lean over a little bit. What did they say? Things you just the conversations you overhear, just things that suddenly catch your attention. The media, when you're on your phone, searching the net, I mean, on TV, just information being thrown at you. Culture, what you see as you live and go about this world, just the way people are acting, the way people are doing, the way people are behaving, taking it all in. Even your own home. You gather information from your home. You know that, right? How many know sometimes the home can be the most discouraging place sometimes? Unfortunately. You take in information even in your home. Now notice, because we're not going to leave it out. You take in information from the word. Now, do y'all see how I have the word twice on there? Because my hope is you're taking in a lot of the word. Taking information from the word of God. And every day we're taking in this information from all these different places, and all these sources, hear me, all these sources of information help begin to form the patterns of your mind. How your mind will begin to process and think of things and see things and begin to dwell on things. And in Romans 12, 2, put on the board the next verse. Romans 12.2, we'll remove that image and then put the verse up. Look at what it says in the NIV. Do not conform to the pattern of this world. Pattern? Yeah, the pattern. There's patterns sometimes you follow. Those patterns sometimes that that you begin to know how to process and the pattern that you begin to live by. Why? Because I want something to accomplish or I want to do something. So here's the pattern to get there. Anyone uh ever played Super Mario Brothers growing up? Anybody? I mean, hear me real quick. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I mean the real Super Mario. Like NES Super Mario. That brings back memories. Some of y'all got chills already, right? That's that that Mario. Same end of that one. That's the real Mario. That Mario. You know what happened with some of those levels? There were patterns. You knew up, down, up, go, side, A, B. Like there's certain levels that were like, oh, oh, and by the way, it was only A and B. That was it. There wasn't this X, Y, Z, A, B, C. It's too many buttons now. I don't get carpal tunnel playing all that. Now listen, it just just there's a pattern. Why? Because you follow the pattern, you get through the level. You follow the pattern, something gets done. You follow the pattern, something will be accomplished. Hear me, there are patterns of this world that are processed within the mind. That if you follow those patterns, they will lead to a result. And you know what the patterns of this world? Do you know the result it leads to? It leads to hell. Say amen to that. That's the result of the patterns of this world. The thief comes to what? Steal, kill, and destroy. You know the patterns of this world will lead to being stolen from, dying, and destruction. That's the result of the patterns of this world. Follow the patterns, receive what the world will give you. So what do I want? I don't want the patterns of this world. I want the patterns of the kingdom of God. Say amen to that. I want to think the way the God wants me to think. I want to uh process the way God wants me to process. I want to imagine. I want to reason. I want my mind, hear me, to be careful. That the patterns of the world don't become the patterns of my mind. I don't want the patterns of the world to become the patterns of my mind. And can I can I give you just a heads up? Careful. Those patterns will sneak up on you, man. They will sneak up on you. And you know those patterns, they begin to influence you. They begin to influence how how you see yourself, what you think of yourself, or they begin to influence how you treat others and how you treat your family and how you treat your spouse. They begin to influence you and how you go about your day-to-day at school or talking to your parents or treating your parents. They will influence you. I mentioned this a few weeks ago. Parents, have you ever noticed that sometimes there's like a little subtle little change in your kid, and you're like, where did he get that from? It's a little change in your daughter, like, where is that coming from? Because there's patterns of this world that can become the patterns of the mind. They influence you, your children, your home. Hear me, they will even influence the way you see God. And do you think the patterns of this world will help paint the correct picture of God? They will not. Because I'm telling you right now, the patterns of this world are even painting a false doctrine pattern of God. Things that are not right that all of a sudden are right, it's not the case. Things that are supposed to be wrong, well, those are right, and that's not the case. Hear me. There are patterns of this world that, if we're not careful, infiltrate our minds, affect our serving the Lord, and begin to affect our heart. And all of a sudden, because of the patterns of this world, we think it's true. Well, the world says it doesn't matter what the world says. All that matters is what the Lord says, what God says, what's in this word. Savings of that. Getting a little quiet here. I'm not here to rat on people, give you a hard time, but let me tell you something. The patterns of this world will go against the pattern of this word. And you have to be careful that the patterns of this world don't infiltrate your mind and begin to think, cause you to think that something is okay or right or true when the Bible says it is a lie or it is wrong. That's the danger we're living in nowadays. That's the danger that the church is facing nowadays. That we are hearing things from the world, from the culture, from the media, from conversations, taking in that information, and all of a sudden that information becomes the way we're supposed to live or the way we're supposed to do. Honey, sweetheart, look at your neighbor and say, sweetheart. If you don't know if you're if you're married, don't tell other person I do that. But then find your wife and tell, sweetheart, listen, we don't live according to the pattern of this world. We can't think according to the pattern of this world. Every day of our life, there's one pattern, it's the word. There's one truth, it's the word. There's one way, it is Jesus, and he is the word as well. So every day of our life, when the pattern of this world wants to get into our mind, you better stand up, you better speak, and you better let the enemy know. Enemy, every lie, every false doctrine, every false teaching, it's not gonna penetrate my mind. In fact, hear me, lift up your hand. It's gonna leave my home, it's gonna leave my children, it's gonna leave my grandchildren because the patterns of this world will not be the pattern I live by. There's only one pattern, and it is the word of God. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God. That's the pattern. This word is the pattern, this word is the truth, this is the way we want to think, this is what we believe, this is the information we need above all. We're not careful, we fall into the patterns of this world. Spending a little too much time on this pattern thing, so it's gotta be for somebody. You slip into this thing sometimes, man. Suddenly money becomes the goal, and money's more important than everything. And I gotta make more money and more money. Now, no time for prayer, no time to read, no time at home, no time with your kids. Why? Well, I'm working, I'm working, I'm working, and meanwhile, there it is at home, everyone waiting for you. Say amen to that. The lie is the key can't it creeps in you. Oh, well, you know, I'm hanging around some people now that they're not really saved, and you know, they they don't really go to church, and I'm talking to them more, going out with them more. Be careful. Be watchful. Not saying you can't be a friend with somebody who's not saved, but hear me. When your life starts following the pattern of the unsaved, we have a problem. You're suddenly talking in ways you weren't talking before, you're acting in ways you weren't acting before. The Bible's not a lie, the Bible says bad communication. Corrupts good character, and it's true, it happens. Birds are the same feather. Pastor loves you. Say I love you too. Say it. I'm trying to help all of us today. Hear me. I just want you to be careful. The Bible on Friday, Pastor Leo came and he told the man, be watchful. Be watchful. Watch what's coming into your heart, into your mind, into your life. I don't want the pattern of this book. The pattern of the word. And I I remember kind of growing up in youth ministry. Like Daniel as a teenager in youth ministry. And this wasn't my youth pastor's fault or youth leader. I had wonderful youth pastors, amazing youth pastors. And I started to kind of think to myself sometimes, remember we're talking about intentionally taking in golly information. Intentionally taking in the information that is truth. That information will help set the pattern of our mind. Not the pattern of the world, but the pattern of the word within our mind. I remember being in youth ministry. Sometimes we think to my again, teenage manual. Oh, I just don't need to do that. Oh, I just as long as I don't do that. As long as I don't act like that, as long as I don't hear that, as long as I don't watch that. Like, like, as long as I don't, you know, uh go over there, as long as I don't do those things, I'll be fine. I'll be good. And then, you know, and I'll admit there there's there's a thought to that. Like, yeah, just stay away from it, right? Just get away. But here's what I'm realizing, and I started to realize I'm still realizing today, and I started to realize it as I got older and got into ministry. Put on the board. An ungodly way of thinking cannot just be removed, it must be replaced. Just read that on the board real quick. This is so important. An ungodly way of thinking cannot just be removed, but it must be replaced. Say replaced. Like, how many know there's a difference between removing something and replacing something? And 2 Corinthians, I'm sorry, Colossians, watch this. This is Paul. So put to death the sinful earthly things lurking within you. So remember that that old way of living, that old life, have nothing to do with sexual morality, impurity, lust, evil desires. Just get away from all those things. Here, just leave those. That's what he says. Like, just do have nothing to do with them. Don't be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolatry, worshiping the things of this world because of these sins. The anger of God is coming. You used to do those things. Amen to that. You used to do these things when your life was still part of the world. So those things, just get away. Stay away. Including, now's the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Dirty language. Dirty language. I pray the next time you curse, the next breath out of you will just be no, you know what? But the next time you curse, maybe you don't take a breath for a second or two after that. That's mean. Pastor, you want me to die? No, I don't want you to die. I want the Lord to change you. Alright? I don't have time to get into that. Look at your neighbor. He's not talking to me. Tell your neighbor. He's not talking to me.
SPEAKER_00Alright.
SPEAKER_01Some of you could tell your neighbor that. That's fine. Hear me. Watch. Look at what the word before we get to verse 9. Are we ready, verse 9? Oh, okay. Watch. Do you notice how he's like, put away these things? Get away from these things. Don't engage in these things. Like, like, like, get just just those things. They're from your old, just, just, your old nature. Just just just get away. Like, don't don't bother with those things. Don't don't do these things. And then in verse 9, he starts off with one more don't. Don't lie to each other. Hear me. For you have stripped off your old sinful nature and its wicked deeds. That has been removed because of the blood of Jesus Christ. Thank you, Jesus. Give Jesus a hand clap today. The sin has been removed. The sinful nature is not ruining my life anymore. That has been stripped off. How many are grateful that it's been stripped off today? Like that's stripped off. That's the old me, the old, the dead me. It's it's stripped off. But then see the first words of verse 10. Put on. Put on your new nature and be what? Renewed as you learn to know your creator and become like him. Listen, you gotta take this old nature off, but you gotta put on the new nature. What is the new nature? It's thinking like Christ, it's loving like Christ, it's obeying like Christ, it's living like Christ, it's the new nature that you were raised from the dead to now live out. But hear me, I wanna show you. Did you notice? It's not enough just to strip off the old nature. You gotta put on the new nature. You wake up in the morning, thank God the old man is dead. But Lord help me to put on Christ and put on my new nature. Why? Because maybe the old nature was removed, but it's not enough that it was removed. I gotta now replace it with the nature of Jesus Christ, with the new man. And hear me, it's way better to live according to the new man than the old man. That's how we're called to live. When you do something you shouldn't do, talk how you shouldn't talk. Go back to verse 5 for me. When these things are happening in your life, put the sinful nature of where we have sexual morality, impurity, lust, evil desires, that's the old nature. That's the thing that Paul's saying, hey, that's been removed out of your life through the blood of Jesus Christ. Don't put on that old way of doing things, don't put on that old way of thinking, that old way of living, don't put on that old mindset. That thing is gone. However, just don't be glad it's gone. Replace it with a new way of thinking, with a new way of living. That's why he says, go back to verse 10, put on your new nature and what? Be renewed. You know why? Because when you renew the mind, it helps keep that new nature on you, man. When your mind's renewed, it helps sustain that character of Christ that is now birthed within you. When your mind's renewed, you start to realize, I don't want that old thing, man. Get that out of here. It's a new way. Putting on the new man. Oh, thank you, Holy Spirit. Putting on the new man requires a renewed mind. Walking according to the new nature requires a renewed mind. Because I'm learning this more and more. You don't get that mind renewed, you slip back into those old ways very quickly. And I don't want that for you. I don't want that for me. That old way has been stripped off. Thank you, Jesus. I put on the new man. Thank you, Lord. So a renewed mind, hear me, will not be produced by only eliminating negativity out of your life. So manual thinking, just stay away from that. Don't go over there. Teenage manual, oh, as long as I don't hang out with them. Okay, that that's that's that's that's a good thought, manual, but it's not just it doesn't just stop there. It's not enough to try to just avoid negative influences. Hear me. The space of your mind must be filled with something better. The space of your mind must be filled with something better. It was good that Manuel said, I don't want to go over there, I don't want to do that, I want to act like that. That's good. But but but something needs to replace that. Um can I have that bottle? It dropped during service, and yeah, thank you. If you know Manual, Manual loves him some big red. And I mean when it's cold too. Like when it's cold, ice chest cold, like oh my mouth's watering right now as I talk about it. Josh, don't get mad at me. Okay. Now we know big red's not the greatest thing to drink. But hear me. One second. I don't mean what I'm about to say, I promise, okay? I love you. There's times where Manual needs to say no to Big Rat. Some of y'all are probably say amen if you know what I'm talking about. No. I will not indulge. I will not indulge in your flavory goodness. I will not indulge in your refreshing, refreshing flavor. I will not. To hell with you, big red. I don't mean it. My wife went to the conference this morning. Good thing she doesn't see all that going on right now. I don't know, right? Good question. Will Manual eventually get thirsty? Better question. Does Manual need some type of fluids coming into him? So it's not enough just to remove it. I need to. And let me tell you something. You cannot live without filling your mind with something. Your mind's gonna get filled one way or another. So applause to everyone who says no to thinking like this world. Applause to everyone who says no, I will not go there. I will not be in that environment. I will not talk like that. Applause to you, my man. Applause to you, my lady. I truly mean that. But hear me. I can't just say no. I also gotta say yes to what the word of God is trying to put inside of me as well. I gotta receive this as well. Because eventually, I'm telling you, eventually I miss you too. Eventually it comes calling. What does the Bible say? The Bible, we always say, I gotta resist the enemy. But you have to first submit yourselves unto the Lord. When you submit, it's easier to resist. Resist resist. Say resist. Say it again. Say resist. Say resist.
SPEAKER_00Resist and submit. And listen, submitting to this more will help even how about this?
SPEAKER_01Become so satisfied with the word of God, you don't even have a desire for the things you shouldn't even be indulging in.
SPEAKER_00You learn something this morning?
SPEAKER_01Because why, why, why, as we wrap this up, why why is this whole thought of replacing, replacing, removing, replacing, removing, replacing the first thing one. Listen, this takes process, this takes time, this takes repetition. It's daily, intentionally taking in the information you need. And I'm telling you now, it'll help to set you free from those old patterns. This is why we have to be intentional. We have to be intentional about it. Just hear me. I want to let me say it like this. Anybody ever heard the word stewardship? Stewardship. Stewardship. What is stewardship? Put on the board. The responsible, overseeing, and protection of something considered worth caring for and preserving. Another one, the responsibility of taking care of property. I love the part where it says overseeing the protection of something considered worth caring for. A lot of times when we talk about stewardship, we talk about in the money realm, monetary realm. But you know what I'm learning? We have to be stewards with the space of our mind. Let me say it again. We have to be stewards, responsible with the space of our mind. Because I am not gonna indulge, but I have to fill it with something. The space of my mind, hear me. Are you caring for it? Are you making sure the space is utilized in a godly manner? Put it like this from the board. We are responsible for the space in our mind. You and I are responsible for that space. What's it being filled with? Because it's gonna be filled with something. Thank you, Lord. We can resist, but we have to submit. Thank you, Lord. I can say no, but I have to say yes to something. Thank you, Lord. It can be removed, but it's gotta be replaced. Church, renewal isn't just subtraction. Hear me. Renewal is the addition of that which is new and better. The subtraction, it's gone. Something new and better. The world. The patterns of this world, they're gone. Say amen to that. Now it's time for the addition of something new and better in your life. Give the Lord a hand, clap today, and thank you. And hear me, some of the word might be new to you. Some of the word may be a new the word, some of the word, or maybe all the word can be new to you, but hear me. It's still better than anything you'll receive out there in the world. Be intentional and let your mind be renewed by what's new and what's better. By what's new and what's better. So let's not just remove junk, let's replace it with something new and better. You hear me? Let's not just remove junk, let's replace it with something new and better. Unrighteous thinking, I want righteous thinking, Lord. Impure thinking, I want pure thinking. Unholy life, I want holy life, Lord. Why? It's not just one thing to get rid of it. I want to put on Christ, bring on the new thing, and Lord, we're gonna live out the new thing for the honor and glory of God Almighty. So as I close, this is why godly information, the godly information, specifically the word, hear me. It's not just helpful, it's essential. How many know, and and I know put poor or harmful things into your body, eventually they affect the body. Put poor or harmful things in the body, they eventually they eventually affect the body. And and and and listen, I it's kind of in the same matter. Put on the board, consistently feeding on what is good, pure, and rooted in God's truth that can change and strengthen our thinking. This is why we must be intentional about taking in godly information, a mind that is consistently fed with truth, wisdom, godly insight can become aligned with those things over time. When I was a kid, I I guess we're going retro today. VHS tapes, anybody? VHS, VHS tapes. Yeah, VHS. Uh I see often in a I'm not knocking parents, I just you know, I I see often parents will, you know, have their kids entertained for a little while with a phone or iPad. Can't have the worship team come up with the phone or the iPad, different things. And um I see them, and it's okay. I'm not, trust me, I get it. I I see them and I get it. And um I I it takes me back to when I was a kid. And you want to talk about exposing godly information, exposing truth to your kids. As Worsted comes up, I have this memory of about how my mom would buy me these Bible, Bible story videos. These Bible story books, Bible stories. I remember specifically one called The Great Adventures of the Bible. Three kids in the book, three kids, it's a cartoon animated thing, and three kids within it would visit different stories in the Bible. They like walk into a Bible and be taken to different stories. They would live out there, they would live there amongst the story being told. You know what? Talk about taking in information. Man, I learned about Joseph. I learned about Noah. I learned about David and Goliath. This is four-year-old manual, five-year-old manual, six-year-old manual. I learned about these things. I I learned about I learned about Noah, I'm sorry, Adam and Eve. Uh, just through this cartoon animation thing. I learned about it. There was this other one called uh the donut man. I don't know if again, maybe I'm gonna some of y'all, maybe some of you young ones remember Bible Man. We had the donut man. And the donut man was uh he sang songs with kids and and uh he would like share the word and share the gospel to kids. I was taking all that in, hearing it. I learned Bible verses through watching that. I would hear Bible verses and they would repeat them, and I learned those Bible verses. That was being fed into me as a child, as a kid. That was being poured into me. And you know, till this day, look at me. I still know those Bibles. I still know those verses. I still know them. They were poured into my mind. That's why Emmanuel knew, even as a teenager, this isn't right. This is wrong. God says this, or God did this, or God wants this. So I tell you today, the word is so valuable and precious. You can never really get enough of it, to be honest with you. You can't. I'm so grateful. Hear me. I've learned that an hour of prayer or half an hour of prayer can really set you up for the next 12 hours of your day. You do the math, that doesn't really make sense. But yet that's how powerful time in the presence of God is. Reading a few verses a day, a chapter a day, taking some time in the word prepares you to engage the information you take on in the world for the next, call it 23 hours. Again, the math doesn't really seem to add up, does it? But that's how powerful the word is. Hear me. That even a small verse of the world can take on hundreds of lies of the word of the world. That's how powerful the word of God is. But what's the key? Well, look at me. Manual was watching those videos over and over, over and over, just taking them in. Put on the board because consistency matters. You gotta plant your feet, you gotta plant your feet. We'll put on the board. Consistency matters, and I want you just to take those words in. It matters. It matters. Being exposed to it, taking it in. Hear me? Look at me. Take it in when you don't feel like taking it. Reading it when you don't feel like reading it, listening to it when you don't feel like listening to it. Coming to church when you don't feel like coming to church, praying when you don't feel like praying, having fellowship with God when you don't feel like having fellowship with God. Consistency, consistency, consistency, continuing day by day by day. You miss a day, don't beat yourself up, get back on track the next day. You miss the week, don't be stop beating yourself up, get on track this month. Consistency, taking in intentionally, taking in the information of the word. And you see the consistency, it strengthens you, it helps you, prepares you. Why? Because you're removing, but now you're replacing. And I reminded of Psalm 11 through two. And we're and we'll close. Put on the board Psalm 11 through 2. Oh, all the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked or stand with sinners or join in with mockers. You see how once highlighted yellow Y, that's the staying away part. Doesn't engage, doesn't join in, doesn't listen, doesn't stand around. That's the staying away part. That's the removal part. Say remove. However, they delight in the law of the Lord. Replace it. Meditating on it day and night. Consistency matters. Do you know what meditating means? Put it on the board. Ongoing intake by revisiting, reflecting, and letting something settle deep into our thinking. So there's David. Oh whoa. I don't I can't I I can't I don't want to engage in those kind of things. Stay away. Whoa, I don't want to talk about those kind of things. I gotta I gotta stay away. Whoa, whoa, no, I don't, I don't, I I can't I don't want to go that way, go over there. That that house, there's a lot of things going on there that shouldn't be going on. Stay away. No? It wasn't just staying away. It was delighting in the law of the Lord. It was taking in the word that established him, that helped him, that built him. But not just taking it in, what? Meditating. So today, as we before we take communion, I remind you, put on the board that renewing the mind is an act of endurance and perseverance. There it is. Consistency matters. Look at me. I'm gonna pray for you. I love you and I'm proud of you. I'm not gonna beat anyone up here. Pastor, if I'm being honest, I haven't read my Bible in about a month. Crack it open tonight. Pastor, if I'm being honest, I haven't really prayed in three months. Start tonight before you go to bed. Look at me. How many are grateful for the grace of God, the mercy of God, the compassion of God? How many are grateful that God is in heaven right now keeping tabs on how many times you've failed? He's just ready to help you succeed today. He's not in heaven just looking down and saying, Oh, there goes that dummy again. Yeah, dumb man. No, he's in heaven saying, That's my child, that's my son, that's my daughter, that's the one I created, that's the one I love. I'm calling you by name. I want you. Time with you, intimacy with you, fellowship with you. But I haven't spent time with you in a long time. God, that's okay. I'm still calling you by name. I'm still calling you to my word. I'm still calling you to prayer. God, you haven't given up on me? No. God, you're not mad at me? No. God, you haven't turned your back on me? No. God, you're really here for me? Yes. God, I can really come to you. Yes. God, I can really speak to you. Yes. Child of God, always remember. He does not forget you. He does not turn away from you. Even if you feel you've left him, he's standing right here saying, Come into my arms, come into my presence, take in my word, pray to me. Let's fellowship. Why? Because it doesn't matter what happened yesterday. Put on the new man today and start fresh today. Consistent me, consistency matters. You haven't been consistent, it's fine. Let your consistency start today. I smile because there I can picture, I really can't picture. There's five-year-old manual taking it in. Six-year-old manual taking it in. Seven-year-old manual taking it in. And now you're looking at four-year-old manual saying, Thank you, Lord. I was taking it in the whole time. So this is what I'm trying to tell you. Take it in today, and you're going to give thanks down the road that you've been taking it in. You've been consistent. You've been seeking God. Because when the enemy comes in, you're going to be prepared. You're going to be ready. When lies want to flood your mind, you're going to be prepared. You're going to be ready. Why? Because you have been consistent, enduring, persevering. And in the name of Jesus, with that endurance and perseverance, not only is your mind going to be renewed, you're going to cross that finish line one day, enter heaven, and hear those beautiful words. Well done, my good and faithful servant, because you stayed the course, endurance and perseverance. And when we get there, we're not going to say, look at me. We're going to find Jesus and tell him, Thank you, Jesus. It was all because of you. Give the Lord a handcuff today. I am done. Bow your head, close your eyes at the behind of heaven. Father, I pray today that the renewing of the mind is taking place. Not just because we are removing, because we are replacing. Yeah, I hear. Man, some of you have memories you battle. You have thoughts that that that you battle so hard and you can't even remove them. You have you have patterns that are that are so so glued to your life. It feels like they're just stuck today in the name of Jesus. Father, I call out every lie of the enemy. I call out every stronghold, every bondage. I call out every person who feels in prison today. I call them out now, and I say in the name of Jesus, be set free in Jesus' name. I say today, Father, my Lord, that the power of your word, that the power of your anointing, that the power of your presence is greater, is greater, is greater than any evil power in this world. That Father, we're not just resisting, we're submitting. That Lord, we're just not saying no, we're saying yes. We're not just running from, we're running to. And I ask you, Lord, today, endurance, perseverance, consistency matters, Father. The renewing of the mind is a daily process. Intentional information is coming in, and I pray it's coming in day by day. And that information that is intentional is your word, is truth, is what you say to us when we're praying, it's what you speak to us while we're worshiping, it's what you deposit into our hearts when we're seeking you, and we're spending time with you, God. And I ask you today, Lord, that Father person here, the one who feels like they've given up, I pray today, Father, inject them now, inject them now with faith, inject them now with hope. To the one who feels like there's no way back. I child, he calls you by name. Come home, prodigal son, come home, prodigal daughter. Come home and know that the father is not running from you, he's running to you today. And Father, I thank you now. The renewal of the mind shall be done, it shall be seen. Father, the renewing of the mind will take place because Father, we are taking in intentionally godly information, the truth of your word, and it's defeating every lie, defeating every strategy of the enemy, and defeating every word spoken that's not of you. We give you the honor, we give you the glory. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Give the Lord a hand clap. I am done. I wanted to show you this. Can we go back, Mike, real quick? 2 Corinthians. Sorry, Colossians from earlier. Write this chapter and verse down. Colossians 3, 5 through 10. I'm gonna help you out. Take a picture of it, write it down. Colossians 3, 5 through 10. This whole next week, read that. Meditate on that. And you know what? I can sense it now. Some of you are gonna read it and meditate on it. And sometime this week, some of you are probably even gonna cry. Because you're like, man, that really was that old way. That really was the old me. That really was that was that was tonto, manual. But you're gonna get to verse 10. Go to verse 10, Mike, please. You're gonna see. Thank you, Jesus. Stripped off. Gone. I'm putting on the new man today and every day. Read it throughout the week. Read it this whole time. What am I trying to see? This is Pastor being a little sneaky. I'm gonna try to get you in the habit. Even if you pick one verse from these sermons, we put these verses on the board. We put them in front of you. One, because, well, some of you don't bring your Bible. Still bring your Bible, even though on the board. Two, I want you to see it. I want you to write it down. You say, I don't know what to read this week. Read the scriptures we read during the sermon. Get the word in you. Put it in you. So there's your verse this week. Colossians 5. Colossians 3, 5 through 10. That's your passage. Take it in this week. Read it. Let it speak to you. Hear me? Meditate on it. And in the name of Jesus, it's gonna produce some changing, renewing of the mind. Look at your neighbor and say, you can do it. Look at your neighbor and say you can do it. Give Jesus a hand clap today. Thank you, Lord. We're gonna take communion this morning. If you have communion, why don't you stand to your feet with me if you have communion today?
