Welcome to OGT Cigars Live Podcast, your neighborhood virtual cigar lounge. Each week, we share in the cigar experience with the OGT Cigars community. Join Mallory and I as we explore the world of boutique and unique premium cigars. I'm Eric, founder of Oakland Tobacconist and the OGT Cigar Society. I have a deep passion, and some might say obsession, with cigars and cigar culture. Working as an artistic theater director previously inspires me to infuse entertainment into the craft I love. Learning never stops. And I invite you to follow in our cigar journey.
SPEAKER_01I'm Mallory. While I don't ever claim cigar expertise, I've always been a foodie who's obsessed with scent and flavor. I can be counted on to provide bizarre tasting notes, such as the Home Depot Garden Center or Grandma's Basement, which always leads to good conversation. And good conversation is truly my favorite part of enjoying cigars with friends.
SPEAKER_00Welcome to OGT Cigars Live, where conversation lights up. Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another episode of OGT Cigars Live on a Thursday night.
SPEAKER_01Hello, hello.
SPEAKER_00And Mallory is back with us after the absence.
SPEAKER_01Yes, after my getting sick, and then, yes, being being gone from the show for two weeks.
SPEAKER_00Two weeks, but back at it, and I'm very excited. I've been looking forward to it. Um, if you guys are new to the show, this is the uh cigar podcast where we jump on on Thursday nights. We smoke cigars, talk topics regarding from cigars to walks of life, matters of life, all over the place. Um, but we invite you, please, drop down in the comments what are you enjoying? What are you smoking? Because this is essentially the virtual cigar lounge.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So we want to hear what's up with you.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. And it's a part of participation, it's a part of hanging out all together. So I look forward to it every week where we can meet up, hang out, talk, uh, really exciting things coming in the cigar industry, whether it's new releases, whether it's new things happening, but also just like tips and tricks in terms of your cigar like journey, cigar smoking journey. So, um, as always, I invite you to drop those comments down. I will do my best to pull those comments up uh and uh answer those questions if you have any. I would love to do so. Uh, let's start off with the uh Stump Town Rider.
SPEAKER_01This is having a father la lietade for the first time tonight.
SPEAKER_00Awesome. Very nice. In fact, I had that's that's the newest My Father cigar.
SPEAKER_01Um have you tried this one yet?
SPEAKER_00I have not tried it, uh, but I did think it was rather hilarious. Tim Swanson of Cigars Daily made a joke uh about Terrence, the guy he works with, um, looking up like how to what are the tasting notes of La Lietad, but uh he was looking up my father's uh red leotard instead. Oh uh, but I have not tried it, so I'm excited to hear what you think about it. Very awesome. Daniel Frazier is on tonight.
SPEAKER_01How's it how is it? I haven't grabbed one yet, but haven't been able to swing by the local.
SPEAKER_00Okay, yeah. So you're gonna have to let us know. Uh, he's saying it's my father, so it's not disappointing at all. First third so far. Very nice.
SPEAKER_01He also says great follow-up with the blue.
SPEAKER_00Nice. Okay, okay. We got RJ on as well.
SPEAKER_01He says, Hello, Mallory and Eric. Looking forward to the show tonight. I'm having a Triforium along with Crystal Light Iced Tairing.
SPEAKER_00Triforium. That is such a beautiful cigar and beautiful pairing as well.
SPEAKER_01Uh Black Works Studio Rorschach and again is on the menu tonight. That's from the Faceless Orchestra.
SPEAKER_00We got a lot of black label stuff happening.
SPEAKER_01Uh RJ is also saying call me crazy, but I'm in the middle of having a cold, and it seems the flavor of the cigar hits a lot better with the nasal passages wide open. Yeah, it does. Yeah, yeah, 100%. Yeah, and I think there's a few times that I've tried while I had a cold and it was not. And this time for sure, I was like, nope, I'm not even gonna try it.
SPEAKER_00I mean, uh there's been a few times I've done it while having cold on the podcast and being like, I'm trying to get flavor notes, I sort of have flavor notes.
SPEAKER_01He's no sick days, Eric.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, HDA Cigars is on.
SPEAKER_01Oh, hello, hello, Mallory and Eric. Good to see you back, Mallory. Thank you. Uh, I look forward to seeing you guys again here soon.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, shout out to Zach of HDA Cigars. If you guys watched that episode, he's the only cigar like brand owner that has been in the studio since our first in studio, which is really cool. Not our first guest in studio, but yeah, yeah, that was really, really cool. And some really awesome stuff coming down the line with HDA. I'm looking forward to it. So that'll be awesome. Uh, let's see here. Charlie P615.
SPEAKER_01This is Shafio Fear No Evil with Root Beer. That sounds like a fascinating combo.
SPEAKER_00Very nice. Awesome.
SPEAKER_01Let's try that.
SPEAKER_00Chandler 98 is also on.
SPEAKER_01He says hello from South Carolina smoking and Emerald Knight.
SPEAKER_00Very nice. Emerald Knight for the win. For the win.
SPEAKER_01Been a real winner.
SPEAKER_00Hipster Beavis is saying, not worth lighting up with a cold.
SPEAKER_01No, it's not.
SPEAKER_00You're gonna get like all over the place when it comes to uh opinions on should you smoke while you're sick, while you're not. Uh Paul Sulak thinks you definitely should, but that's Paul Sulak.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I mean, I think that it depends on the cold too. I think there are some where you're like, this distracts me from this thing that I'm dealing with, and I feel better because of the distraction. And then there's the kind of cold where you're like, I'm getting nothing out of this. And I need to go back to it.
SPEAKER_00So whoop, sorry. All right. Well, we need to light up our cigar very quickly, and then we'll jump in more comments. So keep those coming down tonight. Uh, which is the like title for our uh particular show tonight? We are lighting up the brand new Black Label Trading Company limited release known as the macabre. We're gonna get into this cigar. I really want to get this lit and start going, and then I want to give you guys the specs on this and why it's been such a busy week. Because here at OGT Cigar Headquarters, it has been very, very busy.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Uh, which is always good.
SPEAKER_01No, good problem.
SPEAKER_00But it's also a lot of things, a lot of things going on. So I'm gonna go ahead and get this cut and lit. We're gonna get into our cigar so we can join you guys tonight as well. Uh, so let's uh jump into today's cigar is brought to you by the OGT Cigar Society membership. Enjoy a five-pack of premium custom cigars each month at an undeniable price. Join the community and smoke with us on the Oakland Tobacconist YouTube channel as we delve into the rich experience of boutique and craft cigars. You can find out all about the subscription and a whole host of amazing blends by following us on social media. Look for us at Oakland Tobacconist or OGT Cigars. All right, so we are just getting this lit up. Um so this is, as I said, the macabre. Mallory, you've smoked this cigar so far. Um I think Corona Gorda was the first that you smoked, and I think you smoked at the PCA. I'm curious, when you smoked it, not right now, but when you tried it at the PCA, what were your initial thoughts?
SPEAKER_01I think it was my first cigar of the day. So I was just I felt like it was a very exciting thing that that got to be the first cigar of the day. Because I actually got to taste everything. Yes. But it's nice to be able to, in this situation, have a little more time to think through what 100%. During the PCA, I feel like I'm a little scatterbrained. So like getting the chance to like sit down and actually enjoy the tasting notes. I I feel like it doesn't always happen until we're back home. Okay. Like for me, like it's like I'll be enjoying it, but then I get distracted, like talking to people or whatever else moving around. And so I have a really hard time multitasking with my brain that way. Um, but I think I've kind of stuck to the corona gorda. I do like that one best.
SPEAKER_00So I I smoked the Robusto at the PCA and I loved it out the gate. So when they landed, I was like, okay, I have to smoke the Corona Gorda, I got to smoke the Toro, and I did it all in one day because I was like, I want to know what the cigar is all about. I also love the cigar. This is the first time Black Label ever released this particular blend. A lot of the time, because if if you guys didn't know this, uh they release a limited once every quarter. So this is the Q2 release. Um, sometimes it's a rehash of something that is a favorite, like the Morphine Bishop's blend, which is a personal favorite of mine. Um, but the macabre is a brand new release that's never been released before. And I honestly think I mean, I know it's bright and shiny right now, but I think it kind of outshines some of the other limiteds uh for my palette in particular.
SPEAKER_01And that makes sense for me. That makes sense for me. Yeah, it's just very there's like a boldness right off the bat that I think I've started to notice the things that you're like, ooh, it has it has it, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It has it, definitely. Um, and I think too, actually, I got a shout out to Zeke, uh, a part of the OGT Cigar Society. He's a big Morphean fan of the cigar. And uh he had mentioned uh, like, okay, so where does it sit? He's like, I think I'm about to pick some up. And I was like, for me personally, it's like on par with bishops and it beats morphine for me. But really, that's that's just me in particular. This is also the first vintage, like we it may be different next time they come around with it, but it is incredible. If you guys haven't tried it, you guys got to jump on it. So let's take a few more comments here and then we'll uh kind of jump into the topic of this evening. Daniel Frazier.
SPEAKER_01Uh, it says, haha, yeah, I feel that seasonal allergies usually keep my nose stuffed, but I've been staying on my meds heavy this year, and it's amazing. I can breathe and smell. See, I probably also need to look into whether what I'm experiencing half the time is a full cold or if it's just me reacting allergies allergically to North Carolina because it's all new to me.
SPEAKER_00It could be.
SPEAKER_01Um, it's a good point.
SPEAKER_00This is the first time ever that like I start sneezing more than twice. Like normally it's the double tap sneeze, and I'm like, all right, I'm good. And now it's like this could not end. It's just a train of sneezes, yeah, it just keeps on going.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh Raider Dave is on tonight.
SPEAKER_01Haven't received my macabre macabre yet. So I just lit up a triforium paired with an EH Taylor single barrel. Cheers.
SPEAKER_00Very, very that sounds like a great pair.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Daniel Frazier, we missed that. Had an Emerald Knight and a Coke Zero.
SPEAKER_00There you go. That's great pairing as well. RJ has a question for me saying, Eric, would you ever think about doing a video on a day in the life of OGT?
SPEAKER_01I feel like we need to do this.
SPEAKER_00I think so, but I I'm a little self-conscious that it might be a little boring. I think in terms of like most of it is like, okay, so here I am putting in this inventory. Now here I am packaging up this. Now here I am making another video. Now here I am.
SPEAKER_01It's a lot of having your coffee at four o'clock and your and your cigar to kind of round out.
SPEAKER_00Normally, I'll just do a quick snapshot. So normally, like work starts at seven in the morning for me, and the first break I see is normally like one o'clock around lunchtime, which lasts about eight or nine minutes, and then it's back at work, and then hopefully by four-ish to have the first cigar and the first cup of coffee or second cup of the day.
SPEAKER_01We need to pause though and talk about your eight or nine minute break because I think that would be a funny part of a day in the life at OGT because Eric Drazen watches eight minutes of Seinfeld during his lunch, or a movie, or a movie. It doesn't have to be Seinfeld, but a lot of the time.
SPEAKER_00Now let me clarify this. This is when this is when you are and the kids are gone, like you've taken them to school, yeah, and I'm working by myself. Yeah, then I get an eight to ten minute break, and I have seen so many Seinfeld episodes or even movies in segments of 10 minutes episodes.
SPEAKER_0110 minute segments, which I think is crazy.
SPEAKER_00This is also something, this is a routine that carried over from the brick and mortar in California.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like I just watched a little bit, and I'm like, this is kind of like eventually I'll get to that. Yes, this is like you're creating serial dramas for yourself. What will happen next time on this one episode of Seinfeld?
SPEAKER_00And it's normally me like laughing out loud by myself in the studio, uh, between uh so I feel like that needs exploring and crazy behavior to some degree it is, I suppose. Uh, but honestly, like that's the break until I'm like until I'm done with everything. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01I love it. I mean I'm in so it's such restraint.
SPEAKER_00It's discipline. Uh Chandler's saying black label is one of my favorite smokes, 100%. Uh Mike Mitchell is on. Here you go, Smike.
SPEAKER_01And it's excellent.
SPEAKER_00Nice.
SPEAKER_01Stronger than morphine. I definitely will say that this definitely comes up very strong and bold on the initial.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Uh Rob is saying, get uh just getting in on I'm smoking a macabre. What a sparkling water because I'm at oh with a sparkling water. Sparkling water because I'm at work. Very nice. Let us know what you think. Uh it looks like Shirley's on as well.
SPEAKER_01Hello, Shirley. Uh, I definitely liked it. It reminds me of the Aleto Vitola, but a lot bolder. Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So what we kind of want to talk about tonight, and this is also opening up to you guys because we want to know from you, is the concept of limited cigars. Now, we've kind of talked about this before on other videos, maybe even a little bit on the show, but never really like delved into it. The true concept. Now, first off, I bring that up because as I mentioned, it's a very, very busy week here at Oakland Tobacchinist because it is May 21st.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00One day before OGT Cigar Society Day, tomorrow goes out the second installment of our Order of Chevetta, known as the Crimson Knight, the Battle Cry. I'm very excited about the cigar.
SPEAKER_01Me too.
SPEAKER_00I'm excited to see what people think. Uh, the artwork, for one, is beautiful. Once again, Andrew knocked it out of the park. Um, this is the first time the society, not a custom blend, but the first time the society is getting a Cameroon wrapper. This is also maybe the strongest Cameroon I've ever had.
SPEAKER_01It really is.
SPEAKER_00It's and I let me rephrase that a little bit. It's a medium plus strength. I'm not gonna say it's as strong as uh the more the macabre to me. Right. But in terms of flavor and body, it's like it lets you know you're there.
SPEAKER_01It is a spicy boy. Um, yes. Uh I and it's surprising to me. I mean, we'll talk more about this probably on the so I probably shouldn't give too much away. Let people form their own opinions.
SPEAKER_00Sure, sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because when we have the official society, we can talk a little more about the specifics.
SPEAKER_00I had to show off like the sticker. I don't know if it's gonna come in. Sticker is beautiful that came all together. So society members getting that. Also, just as we did with the Emerald Knight, a select few were gonna be uh sending the poster out uh of the Crimson Knight as well uh to a select few society members. Um it it definitely is added perks of being society members at the same time, best possible price. Cameroon is not a cheap wrapper leaf at all. Cameroon is actually in tobacco world. Cameroon is sometimes close to like the cost of a Connecticut broadleaf in terms of like buying tobacco. Can I get it Cameroon is not cheap, so super excited and honored for Volakari to be working with us on this project, completely new. Uh, it's gonna be awesome. RJ is saying, can't wait for the drop.
SPEAKER_01Very nice. Yeah, that's too. Oh, we've got a few other uh let's see here. Uh Mike is saying also had the Pugliacchi today. Very good. Notes of iced tea. I could see that, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Very nice.
SPEAKER_01Uh, dude, that's awesome. I also love Seinfeld. I've seen every episode at least 10 times from Raider Dave.
SPEAKER_00Nice.
SPEAKER_01Uh, it it is it is an awesome show. It is.
SPEAKER_00I should clarify, it's not the watching Seinfeld, it's the serial killer like version of watching in 10 minutes at least bite size.
SPEAKER_01It's total restraint. But I will say that Seinfeld is enough like vignettes that that would work too. But like if you're watching like some intense drama.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I uh actually watched um The Accountant with Ben Affleck that way. It took me two weeks, I think, to watch that movie already.
SPEAKER_01I look forward to your little like bit of the movie. Oh, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's like it's like the it's like rationing yourself on dessert or something. Like, this is my 10 minutes of watching a movie.
SPEAKER_01HDA Cigars also says Seinfeld is my daily easy watching show. Eric, I feel you. It doesn't get any better.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I will say, like, there are few shows out there that can execute a consistently funny episode throughout the entire season, like Seinfeld. Yes, few out there. A lot of sitcoms. I'm not the biggest sitcom fan.
SPEAKER_01No, I know, I know it's pretty good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Rob Brown's on there too. I've seen every episode at least 50 times.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there you go. So in 10 minute segments, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you could basically make Seinfeld last a year doing it for a whole lifetime. It's great, it's great. So, uh, but yes, that is what's kept us busy here at the HQ. Uh, getting that all set. We are poised to get it all out tomorrow. Super excited for this drop. But that brings us to limited cigars.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00And what exactly is a limited? May seem like an easy question to answer, but I think there's a lot of different types out there. Now, when I say limited, this could be like small production. Uh, let's take uh a premium example that I really enjoy, along with macabre, which is almost sold out at this point, is the brand new Supreme Leaf International. So, this is the international version of the Supreme Leaf. You could only get it if you were not in the United States. They opened this up at PCA, it landed two days ago. Like I said, we are almost completely sold out. Wow. This is a good example of a limited in production. 1,000 boxes of each size, Toro and Robusto. Okay. Hence, it's almost sold out. Um, if you guys are a Supreme Leaf fan or Agonorsa fan, check that out. But this is an a small amount. Then there is uh limited releases that are like allocated products. In other words, there's enough to go around, but you can only get this cigar if you buy X, Y, and Z. If you bring in the rest of the portfolio to do this or that or this so there's that version, and then there's like limited cigars that are made as exclusives. So technically, the person who uh good example of this would be like Triforium. The limited amount of that was based on what we felt uh we were able to do at the time. It's not necessarily the company saying you we're only gonna make a certain amount, it's really up to the retailer. Yeah, so you have these different aspects of limited cigars, and then also what what purpose do they serve? Sometimes uh it's made to do a celebration to like an aniversario cigar that we've done. Sometimes it's a quarterly release, like the macabre, um, which I wish I mean, I I don't at but at the same time I do. I wish other companies would watch what Black Label's doing and learn from it because they have such a strong core line. It's never in question, like, oh, well, this cigar is weak. Like, I think their whole core line is amazing. Yes, but they do also add four, sometimes five limited releases throughout the year to basically reinvigorate and refocus on the core line and add a bit of spice and difference to it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. No, I think that they have an incredible process with that too, because it it I think that there probably is a balance too of like if if you have the integrity of your core line, you can only commit to so many limited drops per year. Um and not to say that that there's a specific number for any one company, but I like that it's like they have that, like, okay, this is kind of what you can expect. So just keep an eye out for what's coming, right?
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah, and it's something it's like it'll if like I don't know, three months will go by and be like, I think it's almost time for another black labeling. Um, the last one was Boondock. That cigar hadn't been released for I think four years, so that was kind of like a re-up of that. Um, but I do enjoy something brand new as well. So quarterly releases are really cool, and then there's also commemoratively uh uh that which is kind of like celebration ones, but like um EP Carillo had done one to commemorate like uh the year of 1776, okay. Or patriotic wise. Um, and then there's of course club releases, society releases like the Crimson Night. So you have these different aspects of like what makes uh limited releases basically come to fruition. Uh let's see here. Uh let's go, let's go over here. The Faceless Orchestra.
SPEAKER_01It says really loving the night series. Can't wait till I get the crimson in a few days. We can't wait for you to get it.
SPEAKER_00Yes, can't wait to hear what you guys think about it. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it as well.
SPEAKER_01How many LE do you think are self-imposed?
SPEAKER_00And that's what's I also think is interesting is like how much uh is real, like it's actually limited, or how much is fabrication in what it's limited.
SPEAKER_01Um so like in in fashion, it's like you think of like a Hermes bag, like it's like there's only a certain amount and you can only get one if there's but that's what drives the focus on the sorry, I'm completely going off in terms of genre. But you're right, but it's like it's like there's either the imposed limitation by supply that's available, right? Going all the way back to like the tobacco that's available, right? But then do you think that there are brands that do self-imposed limitation for prestige sake?
SPEAKER_00I do, and I also don't think both are right or wrong. I think it really depends. Um I think let's take something as Supreme Leaf. I don't know the full like operations of like what makes it so allocated and limited. I don't necessarily believe it's tobacco because Agonorsa is the biggest Nicaraguan tobacco supplier in the entire world. But I do think it's a way to again make a small amount, kind of like Black Label does, to create something special. So I think in the case of Agonorsa, I think it's self-imposed, but I like the way they do it. Yeah, because I always look forward to it. Yeah, and what's a new iteration? And instead of having it, oh, it's always available all this time, it keeps it a little special or it keeps it special, and also we get the added bonus of every time they do a short run, it's a new size. So we get to explain. Experience it differently. So that I think is a self-imposed for sure, which I don't mind. Let's see here.
SPEAKER_01Carson Tuckler says Corojo Flavor Bomb, that is the Supreme Leaf. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Supreme Leaf. I had to pick up some myself. It's one of my favorite releases they do.
SPEAKER_01And then you go out. I see Eric.
SPEAKER_00Speaking of limited cigars, will you be able to get the new Perdomo father and son legacy cigar? Unfortunately, not at this time. We want to bring in Perdomo. I believe in the brand. I believe they have amazing cigars. Uh, but you kind of have to have like a physical brick and mortar shop to do that. So it's in the works. It's in the works. Let's see here. Uh Josephus Comedy.
SPEAKER_01It says there's talk of a yearly Freedom Fighter and Goldie Grace Lancero, fingers crossed. That would be very cool.
SPEAKER_00So I've had both uh in the tasting process, and I enjoyed both a lot. Unfortunately, in the cigar market, you that this is another prime example of a limited release. You have to gauge how much the audience is going to be receptive to those smaller like sizes. So oftentimes it's not self-imposed, it's not the tobacco. A limited production like a Lancero is due to the fact of we don't want to push it too much and oversaturate. So it has to be a limited project.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Which also makes sense to me for sure. Uh Charlie P16.
SPEAKER_01Says I ordered a five-pack of that new Agonorsa earlier today. You can combine that shipping with the society draw.
SPEAKER_00Awesome. Now I will say thank you so much. Uh, that's as long as it didn't get shipped out already. We were working really hard to get everything that was ordered out today so that it didn't interfere with society. But if it's still there, we will combine them. So thank you so much. Uh, let's see here. Mike thinks.
SPEAKER_01Uh, I think LE are created to stimulate sales and exposure to brand. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And we we have to look at that sober-mindedly. Like the limited cigars do fulfill a purpose that way from a business standpoint. Um, you have a lot of companies out there like Crown Heads, uh, that do a lot of limited cigars. You have things like Ezra Zion or Viahe that are nothing but limiteds. Um, so it really, really depends. Um, but what I want to know are from you guys, because I have as a business, like I have watch over as much as I can. At the same time, I'm also a cigar enjoyer. I enjoy many different cigars, different palettes. There are brands in particular that I like to watch. And while we carry a bunch of different limiteds, there's one in particular, there's some in particular, like, oh, this is the one I've got to try. This is the one I want. This is the one I will get a box for myself. What are those brands for you? If you guys know of a company, maybe from the past they've released the limited, or if you know ones that are coming up, what are the brands you guys watch and wait to pick up from their limited drops? I'm curious, so let us know your thoughts. What are like the top brands you look for? Um, do you have any brands yourself that you watch for or that you are excited when you hear that are coming out with limited stuff?
SPEAKER_01I mean, obviously Black Label.
SPEAKER_00It's a it's a no-brainer.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Um I I think probably I'm a little bit spoiled in terms of a lot of the ones that I enjoy are ones that we stock. So I'm I'm occasionally being like, oh, save me one of those, you know. Um, but I also think that doing the society where we have this kind of continual, like, okay, this is a limited thing, that kind of also meets my capacity of like, oh, I really want to try this new thing every month, too. If that makes sense, like no, no, definitely I get excited about the society.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I mean, and it's it's something, of course, I do as well. We got Raider Dave saying Tatawahe, which is a good one. They have a lot of good limited releases. Um, for me personally, of course, black labels on that list. Um, Paul Stuck is another one. And whether it's limited or even new, I'm like, if Stu Lak's buying it, it's gonna be amazing. Paul Stuck's there, Crown Heads is another one. Yes. Now I will say Crown Heads doesn't always hit my palette the perfect way, but when it does, it's a really hard one to beat for me. So Crown Heads is also does like quite a bit of ones that they release. Um, so but I'm always I'm always on the watch for them. Let's see, Rob Brown is saying Stallone, Crown Heads, and Black Label. Yes, Stallone. Uh, I feel very blessed to be in the position to work with Tony so many times because a lot of the limiteds that I can't wait for are the ones that he's created for our members.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh. So I mean that's this is what I'm saying because I was gonna say Stallone, but for the most part, the ones that I've like been most excited about are ones that we're releasing to the society or no, I was going through the list.
SPEAKER_00We had uh Silverblaze, we had the Anniversario for year number four, we had uh the bleak but winner three, we had midnight ride, and we had year of the naysayer. Out of those five, I'd love them all, but I would say Midnight Ride and Naysayer are my top two picks of the five.
SPEAKER_01I would say Naysayer or the Anniversario.
SPEAKER_00Really? The the Midnight Ride was definitely heavy, yeah. Heavy cigar, yeah. But um, I it's beautiful, and I think I don't think it's a coincidence that the two that are my favorites are both came in a five and a half by 54 box press brush foot. I don't think that's a coincidence at all. Uh let's see, RJ's saying, Man, they are all worth watching for. Um, they are it it it is really cool, and I think though, if we're being honest with ourselves as uh cigar enjoyers, um there have been cigars that have disappointed us in the past. There have been cigars, even limited releases, that I was like, you know, I was thinking it would be a little bit better than this, but it's not so much. But I will say companies that I had mentioned are the ones that I've really never had that reaction to. Yeah. That I'm always like everything they do.
SPEAKER_01So you just have that confidence that like you're gonna light it up and be excited no matter what.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, another one that I can't believe that we almost passed off would be uh Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust. And he he's the guy that does like limited stuff. Yes, it's not the most budget friendly, but the cigar experience is always represented in whatever price tag it is. Like Sokka's stuff is appropriately priced because it's not just like strength, it's like layers of maturity and age and flavor. It tastes luxurious, it does. It does. Yeah, which is great. Uh Rob Brown saying the bleakbid winner uh has mellowed out and gotten way better with time.
SPEAKER_01Nice. That's good to hear that. And that's the other part about the limited thing. Like, how do you uh how do you decide how many, for instance, you're going to buy so that you have a chance to age? What feels like that sweet spot number? Um, I mean, and I know it's gonna depend on which cigar it is and which you're most excited about, but like if you're saying I'm gonna set aside this many, what makes you feel comfortable?
SPEAKER_00Like yes, which yeah, it's a very good question. So let's say it's one of the top brands that you watch, whether it's Raider Dave saying Tatawahe, Rob Brown saying Stallone, um, or we got Crown Heads in there as well.
SPEAKER_01Rob Brown says also Stallone's War Horse series started up very strong, yes.
SPEAKER_00Nice. So if it's the one that you have the confidence in, what is the amount that you try to go in for it? Do you go for a five pack, two five packs, a box? Um, because I feel like it's all over the board. Like there's some people in our community that I know when they're coming through, that's like it'll be two singles, one to try, one to stash, or yeah, one to stash, one to ash, that type of thing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, or like five pack, that's good enough. I could try it, have a few to spread out. And then there's boxes, and then there's even some people in our community that want to pick up like three boxes at a time to make that last. Um, I know for me, like black label I mentioned, I'm normally in a box every time.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Because I know that after a while, it's like, okay, I've I've smoked, I don't know, five or six of these. I kind of understand it. Give it a while, but from four months from now, I don't want to be like one left.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So I think in I think you enjoy like the repetition of something almost as much as you enjoy the thing. So like it's like limiteds are like a bittersweet thing for you a little bit, it seems like. I think for me, I'd probably say like 10. Okay. Because I have cigar ADHD. And so I will forget, and I would be like, okay, I'm gonna come back to that in six months from now, and it'll the dopamine will be back because I've like, oh, I've tried it a while ago and it was really good, and now I'm coming back to it. So, like, there's some that, yeah, of course, I'm gonna come back to all the time, right? But in terms of like if it was a limited, I'd be like, Yeah, I'd be I'd be happy with about 10. Okay, if it was up to me to just pick it up as opposed to like being near a humidor all the time, you know.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, well, and yeah, and that's the difficulty too. Another brand I didn't even mention is Stolen Throne. Stolen Throne comes out with something, it's gonna be amazing.
SPEAKER_01Yes, and uh well, and but I would say that he also has um such integrity to his core line as well. It is a beautiful and streamlined core line. So I think when you mention the limiteds, I don't always I didn't immediately think of Stolen Throne because I was like, oh, but like sure that core line is so strong that everything feels like an exciting new limited almost when you smoke it. Does that make sense? Like it has that they all have so much personality. Um, I think sometimes people play it safe with their core lines and have fun with their limited. And all every stolen throne tastes like he had fun with it. Yeah, you know what, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_00No, 100%, 100%. Uh let's see here. Rob's saying, I bought a box of macabre without ever having tasted it. I'm not disappointed.
SPEAKER_01Well, hooray. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, and I think too, this is where the brands that you watch, how familiar you are with those brands really comes into play. So, in other words, like with Black Label, when they release, say, uh, let's say Boondock, okay, that is a Pennsylvania broadleaf wrapper. It's with an Ecuadorian binder, no, Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan filler. I'm like, okay, the Intergalactic or Vent Horizon was Pennsylvania broadleaf. I really enjoyed that. Uh, what else was Pennsylvania that they have done? Uh, the knock turn. So I'm like, okay, I can kind of gauge it's gonna be somewhat like this, it's gonna be different. With macabre, it's like, okay, Orthodox, which is one of my all-time favorites. Uh, they also do morphine, which is also amazing. All these are San Andreas Maduros, also kind of strength levels. So I'm like, okay, this is good enough for me to be like, I'm not gambling by saying, like Rob did, I'm gonna get a box of this because it's gonna be in that flavor profile.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know kind of what to expect, but you still get to be kind of surprised by the nuances, the differences.
SPEAKER_00And I would say too, the reason macabre actually wins out above some of those other brands is because it has the power and strength I like, but this like delicate, like floral, sweet, um I don't know, balance to it. I didn't, I I got a lot like Orthodox is rough and tough all the way. But this one's got a really delicate side to it, but it's balanced with that hit of pepper and spice to it that I just think is amazing.
SPEAKER_01I I love. I mean, it's like if you think about perfume or cologne, I've talked about this before, where like the surprising note that you wouldn't necessarily pick out when you first smell it is the thing that may sets something apart. And so, in in a perfume, for instance, from a woman's perspective, it would be like, okay, if you have a floral, but then you have like a tobacco undertone or you have a woody note that grounds it. What's interesting with a cigar is that you actually have more of those, you know, obviously strong notes, um you know, um intense notes, and it's actually a floral or a fruit or something else that makes it stand out to you. You know what I mean? Because the pepper is gonna be the immediate, like, okay, cool. Right, right. But it's that like you know, off the wall, like little floral note or something like that that ends up, or a vegetable note or a botanical note that you're like, oh, yeah, that that it'll stick with me, you know.
SPEAKER_00So I think that that's really cool that it kind of, you know, and how much that even what you're talking about is influenced by its size, the three different Vitolas. So, like I had to make it a separate video because I kept getting questions like, how does the size change it? And like the Toro, most balanced, longest duration of smoking, the Robusto, gonna be the heaviest, the strongest out the gate, and then the corona gorda, I feel like is more on the sweeter side, a bit more concentrated.
SPEAKER_01I think I why I gravitate towards that one a little bit. 100%.
SPEAKER_00Okay, we've got some comments here as well. Let's see. Uh, Raider Dave.
SPEAKER_01I answered a little fast as well. Uh as Tatuaje, I always look forward to BLTC, Stallone, uh Crownheads, and of course the clowns wallet permitting, I get as much as I can. Oh, Clowns is a great one. Cigar clowns, yes. Yes, absolutely.
SPEAKER_00And like the Pagliacci, someone had mentioned as well. It's not really limited anymore, which is awesome. Um, but yeah, when that came on the scene, I think it's some of their best cigars they've done.
SPEAKER_01I mean, that's super exciting too when a limited becomes a core because you there's this like again, that bittersweetness sort of goes away because it's like, well, it's like, oh, I gotta get it while I can. There's also this like I can enjoy this for a long time without worrying about hoarding.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and and actually, that's how porcelain came to be in the black label portfolio. Daniel Fraser.
SPEAKER_01He says, I should just go ahead and grab a box of macabre before Eric smokes them all. Probably a good idea.
SPEAKER_00It's not a bad idea. Uh, and I you will not be disappointed.
SPEAKER_01It's always the risk.
SPEAKER_00Let's see here. Richard's on.
SPEAKER_01Hello. Uh hey guys, just jumped on. Got the first Perdomo Legacy father and son from Two Guys today. Have you gotten any yet?
SPEAKER_00Uh, not yet. In fact, Dave, uh, shout out to Dave at Two Guys Cigars. Uh, he, I believe, got like the initial release due to his uh long-standing relationship with Perdomo. So I hope the event went really well. Uh let's see here. Uh Braveheart.
SPEAKER_01I'm currently smoking the Corto Maduro.
SPEAKER_00The best, in my opinion, the best warped cigar to this day. I love Sarto. I love uh some of their classics through Agonorsa, but Corto Maduro is I don't think I've gotten to try Corto yet. I've tried Sarto and I love Sarto Corona size, it's fantastic.
SPEAKER_01I'm very excited.
SPEAKER_00Uh let's see here. Richard's saying I'll be up there Saturday with cookies and the new logo on it for the Perdomo Army. That's awesome. That's so cool. Uh Carson.
SPEAKER_01Sounds like a gym gymistron. Yamastron leaf from Honduras. Love it as a binder. Very floral. That one's that one was the one you had to take. I've this never happens. Yamastran. I'm the one that always it's always cigar pronunciations that mess me up, man.
SPEAKER_00And the word flip-flop it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Thessorus.
SPEAKER_00Thesserist.
SPEAKER_01Thesserist. Thesaurus.
SPEAKER_00Let's see here. Rob Brown, the Crown Heads just uh you just mentioned was a great cigar. Uh 100%. Uh, let's see here.
SPEAKER_01Stumptown Rider says the cigar daily editions have been great.
SPEAKER_00Nice. I personally really like the echo hail that they did through Espinoza. Really, really cool stuff. Um, very quickly, uh, I wanted to talk uh a little bit about you now are picking up limited cigars, you're establishing your uh collection. How do you store your cigars? I know for every person who's serious about collecting cigars, smoking cigars, will go through this journey.
SPEAKER_01Where do they all go?
SPEAKER_00Everyone goes through this journey. If you think that the humidor is enough space, it never is.
SPEAKER_01It's like a it's gotta be a version of like Murphy's Law or something.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's a any it's a law in the universe.
SPEAKER_01Any void will be filled with cigars.
SPEAKER_00So I remember, yes, and I've told this a little bit before. My first humidor was a hundred count desktop Savoy. When a desktop humidor says it's a hundred count, it actually means it's probably like 65. 100 count maybe if you have cigarillos, but you just can't fit that much. But I was thinking, all right, 100 cigars. How many cigars am I going to be smoking? Why would I need more than 100? I think I'm gonna be good. And I researched this for like a month and a half, uh-huh. And then uh I I filled it up with some really bad cigars, by the way. I did not know what I was doing.
SPEAKER_01I didn't know.
SPEAKER_00OGT didn't exist. Uh I uh and actually at the time, cigars daily didn't even exist. Um, trying to find like cigar media, it was not the easiest. So didn't have enough room. It took about two or three months until I got a second hundred count humidor, and then I learned the other true rule of the universe. If it is a Spanish cedar desktop humidor, try not to go with a glass top, it will always leak.
SPEAKER_01Uh, no matter what.
SPEAKER_00Now, if you're in a very humid spot, okay, maybe it's not too bad, but glass tops are notorious for leaking.
SPEAKER_01Gotcha.
SPEAKER_00So having two desktop humidors, uh, of course, there's one obvious way to go from here, and that's a culador, uh-huh, which you got for me for I think Father's Day. Probably, I think it was, um, which was a 250 count by New Air, which probably only held about 200. Uh, and then it finally changed to a six-foot cabinet. Yep. And then later we just bought a commercial humidor for OGT.
SPEAKER_01So the question I yeah, you had to leave the cabinet behind.
SPEAKER_00In fact, uh, Rob Brown, I gave it to Rob Brown before I left.
SPEAKER_01Um, hopefully, living a whole nother life, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It was I got it secondhand and I was like, well, hopefully this will this will do you well. Yes. So, what is the best way to store these cigars? How do you store your uh cigars? Are they in a humidor? Are they in a cool door? Are they in a repurposed fridge? And tappador, what do you keep them in?
SPEAKER_01And what is your oh crap solution when you bought something and you realize you don't have any room in your humidor? What is your short-term smoke hack for storing?
SPEAKER_00That's right. How do you make that happen?
SPEAKER_01Smoke three cigars at once.
SPEAKER_00Uh, let's see here. Braveheart saying Sarto versus Corto Maduro. I pick Sarto. I'm just a Broadleaf fan.
SPEAKER_01See, now I'm gonna need to do a comparison. You are that's what's happening after the show.
SPEAKER_00This is what I will say, and this is a very good point you make here, Bravehearted, is that I am more of a Broadleaf fan as well. Tabernacle, Mikorita, uh, even Zeno Bradley from Stallone. But what I think is that Kyle did a better job on San Andreas than he did with Broadleaf. Now, that's no shade at Sarto, it's insanely good. But when I compare it to other people like the Broadleaf chief Nick uh uh Nicholas Millillo, I'm like it's Sarto's amazing, but honestly, I think out of the two lanes, I think Kyle Gillis did a better job at San Andreas. Okay, but that's just me. Nothing against Sarto. I still think it's a fantastic cigar.
SPEAKER_01We've got one from Carson uh saying Kyle is a wizard. We've got sometime writers saying preach it, brother.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there you go. I mean, he totally is a hundred percent. He's amazing stuff.
SPEAKER_01Uh Mike Mitchell says Roma craft, black Irish, and their yearly craft release is amazing. I think Mallory will agree. I do.
SPEAKER_00That's a limited that we don't have the luxury of yes being able to get your hands on every every time we see Mike, he always gifts me some Roma craft. So I'm very Mike. Mike will be like, wow, I only get calls when Black Irish comes out.
SPEAKER_01No, no.
SPEAKER_00Uh let's see here.
SPEAKER_01Uh TNT was a great channel before Cigars Daily. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I remember watching those. I also uh really started with JR Cigars. Yes, watching uh Nicholas Labretti.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's very funny because can I can I tell the story? Okay, Eric, the first few cigar shows was obviously like starstruck with all the manufacturers and the blenders and all these people that he'd only seen on YouTube, and so like we're like you know, fangirling, fanboying, you know, at this these initial ones, but you kept saying, I still haven't seen Nick Labretti. Nick Labretti. And and and the first time you saw him, you're like, That's Nick Labretti. That was the most star stuck Star Trek I've seen you meeting anyone. Like, like here's what here's what I will say is he was the beginning of your cigar journey.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'll give a huge shout out to Nick Labretti because I mean JR Cigars, it's a bigger company, it's a corporate website, all those things. But Nick Labretti does such a good job of being a face for a bigger company, and I've seen him through the years, and I think he's only like a year older than me, but he was the first person I started watching and understanding his palate, being like, Oh, like I could tell when he's really into this cigar on this review, or he's just reviewing it because the company set it for him to do it. And it's I started picking what I would buy based on what that was, and I was like, Wow, he was right about the cigar. Yeah, so it's weird because it was very early on, and he's not even a cigar maker, but I do think he should eventually make his own. Just saying. Uh, let's see here, Rob Brown.
SPEAKER_01He says, In addition to my large humidor, I have two large cases for the overflow with Bovida.
SPEAKER_00There you go.
SPEAKER_01That's a good way to do it.
SPEAKER_00Good way to do it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh RJ says I get away from traditional humidors and I now use Tupper doors instead uh need one winador.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Is that am I saying that right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's the brand.
SPEAKER_01Um, humidity in Philadelphia is brutal, and plus I have no central air. Okay, yeah. Yeah, it's tricky for us to like get used to the idea that like here humidity is just a given.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like compared to California.
SPEAKER_01In California, everything dries out so quickly, you know. So you're like, if you need to dry box something, two hours, you know, three hours, and you're like, okay. And you're like, well, it's still very humid here. Um yeah, okay. Uh bravehearted. Saying Claro Felix Tupperdor, Spanish cedar tray holds humidity amazing. Nice.
SPEAKER_00And and what's really cool about that, uh, is that I feel like is one of the few times you can actually use the wipe down method if you're in a super dry area, because it's not going to mess with the seal. You're just letting that cedar soak it up.
SPEAKER_01Daniel Fraser says currently filling up a second 54 quart tub with a small army of bovida bags as overflow. So I have a question. I'll keep go keep going though.
SPEAKER_00No, no, go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Um, for those of you that are using like opaque storage, right? Um, like bovita, like the bovita bags are clear. So like then I'd be like, okay, I know what I have. But if something has like opaque storage, how do you keep track? Like, how do you inventory what you have?
SPEAKER_00You you you baby it, you spend time with it. Yeah, you check it every day.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I know you're you're you're a good cigar father, you take really good care of the babies, but it's just so interesting to me because I like I think my problem would be I forgot what I have. Does anybody forget what they have? No, like okay. Well, you have like photographic memory. There has to be someone here who has forgotten what they have and been like, oh, cool, like finding a dollar in your pocket. Yeah, okay, like somebody's gotta have had that experience.
SPEAKER_00I feel like that's cool too. That's definitely happened, like it's buried at the bottom. Yeah. Now, as these comments keep coming, I need to give a shout out to one of our community members, brand new OGT Cigar Society member, because he sent me some really cool pictures. This is uh Ryan uh Barden. Now he uh reached out to me on social media and he's like, I don't want to gatekeep this. There is a website called Everything Kitchens, and the uh company is called uh Pro Keeper Plus. And he sent me the first picture, it looks like this. All right, so it's a large cracker uh humidor that like it's meant. Well, it's not even a humidor, but it's meant for crackers or like chips or Cheerios or whatever, as it's on the label. However, on the top here, on the underside, there is a small, like perforated like secret pocket where you can put a bovida. So not only is this airtight, but you can literally secure a bovida to the top of it so it's breathing down into the the actual tapador that there you have it.
SPEAKER_01Did he come up with this idea?
SPEAKER_00He well, I mean a lot of tappadors are around the idea, but finding one that actually has a perforated like compartment at the top.
SPEAKER_01But if it was for crackers, does that mean that that would have been one of those other things, like a silica packet or something to soak up moisture? Like if it's for crackers, you wouldn't want right like he so that's genius level. Like I'd love to hear like if he came up with that because that's so smart. Because I'm sure that what's normally in there is a silica packet to keep crackers crispy, right? And he repurposed it to keep cigars humidified. Like that's genius.
SPEAKER_00It's it's really, really cool. And I mean, of course, as we know, if you're gonna go topador, you have to have it airtight, you have to seal it off, and it normally keeps your bovida nice and humidified the entire time. But this is like a design that is legitimately on a uh a humidor is a top-down like humidity device from the top.
SPEAKER_01That's amazing.
SPEAKER_00So super, super cool. That's on, as I said, everything kitchens. Um, I hear a lot about tapidors, I hear a lot about stuff like that, but I've never seen anything like that.
SPEAKER_01So I was like, I'm I wonder if the price point too is different. Like, I wonder if you get a little bit of a price break buying a cracker probably container, yeah, over a Tupperware.
SPEAKER_00That's it's wild, and and uh he had sent it to me. He's like, I didn't want to gatekeep this, thought this was super cool. And I'm like, I gotta share this on the podcast. Like, yeah, who came up with this idea, though?
SPEAKER_01If he did, shout out to him, that's great. I I would be curious to know.
SPEAKER_00Super, super cool. Um, okay, so we got a number here. Let's see, Tuppador for sure. Buy another humidor, says Chandler. That's a good one. Uh, in addition to my large humidor, I have two large pelican cases with overflow bovida. Uh Charlie.
SPEAKER_01Uh, I now have two office slash storm fridge that my company threw out after the compressors died. Genius. Cut out the compressor and use a shot glass of distilled water and a battery-powered oust fan, 68% humidity. That's beautiful.
SPEAKER_00Perfect.
SPEAKER_01Uh oh.
SPEAKER_00So Chandler's on the same page, same here. Uh Richard says.
SPEAKER_01I had a notebook called Nick's Notes about all the cigar reviews he did. I learned a lot about strength versus flavor. So it's another Nick Libretti fan. That's so cool.
SPEAKER_00Very nice. Yeah. I keep saying, I'm like, it would be cool for Nick to go off and do his own thing, like his own brand. I'd be all about it.
SPEAKER_01I use cigar scanner to keep track of what I have in my humidor.
SPEAKER_00And I used to, uh when I was just a cigar consumer, I they you could actually have tobacco apps back then. Um and I inventoried every time I'd smoke something, I'd minus it. Or if I add to it, I invented it.
SPEAKER_01I guess you could do it with a spreadsheet too, but it would be a little trickier.
SPEAKER_00True.
SPEAKER_01Um, I wish there was an app I could put all my cigar info in and then scan it and update the inventory. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It used to be back in the day. Mike Mitchell.
SPEAKER_01So the electronic humidors are the way to go to control humidity and temperature. Gel beads are the best, also, like Mallory. I forget what's in there sometimes. Okay, so I'm not the only one. All right.
SPEAKER_00So when I when I had my coolador, um, because it's I mean, it'd be pretty expensive to do just Bovida on a coolador. Uh, there was a company I found called Heartfelt Beats, uh or uh beads, and they to me had the best humidity beads that I could find. Uh, and I recommended that actually to our co-host of Cigars and Cinema, Curtis Bailey. That's what he still uses to this day. It's a pretty foolproof plan.
SPEAKER_01Uh, Daniel Frazier says, Oh, I do. I try to organize every few months, and I'm always finding a lost survivor. See, I think that's fun. It's like finding a like a you know, a five-dollar bill in your pocket. It's like, oh, cool. There's this thing. Like uh opaque storage is really like a surprise. If you have uh well, maybe it's just me.
SPEAKER_00I feel like you might be the personality to someone to be like, it's kind of nice not always knowing because there's a lot, yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, I do. If I if I uh pack my clothes away for the winter, I forget what coats I have, and then I get to open them. It's like going shopping again. You're like, oh, cool. I have this thing.
SPEAKER_00It's an added bonus.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's great about having no memory. Uh Rob is saying, Mallory, I can't see inside my pelican cases, but I could pretty much tell you what's in each of them. And I think, like, I suspect that there's probably two kinds of people like someone who keeps a mental inventory and someone who either has to have it externally or will be surprised from time to time.
SPEAKER_00I I bet so I bet that's the way it is. Yes. For obvious reasons, I'm I'm the first one. So uh see here, uh brave hearted, off topic, but just curious if anyone has tried the EGM Maduro yet. I haven't. I've been hearing a lot about EGM. Um, right now, my hesitation with them is price point. I'm sure their cigars are worth it. They're just, I mean, in the 40 to 50 dollar range, when it's a newer company, it's a harder boat for me to jump on. Okay, that's not to say I don't want to try them though, but I haven't been able to try it yet.
SPEAKER_01Got one more here.
SPEAKER_00HDA.
SPEAKER_01Guys, got a jet and a few. I'll be back in the your neck of the woods next week and hope to see both of you. That would be cool. Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_00We'll we'll definitely uh we'll talk see what we can figure out for sure. Yeah, okay. So I think it's that time though that we share uh a few photos um from our community, whether you guys post in the Facebook group, OGT Cigar Society Facebook group, or you guys post online and tag us through Instagram um or wherever. We try to share uh some really cool posts that people put out because it's really awesome to see this. And this is actually the first time we've got two photos to show, and there's no cigars in them.
SPEAKER_01Oh, what it what could it mean?
SPEAKER_00It's definitely OGT community, which I think is really cool. So the first of which comes um from Rich Dick Ricky. From that's his Instagram handle, and he's got all three OGT posters lined up in the corner with an MBK box as well.
SPEAKER_01Looks amazing.
SPEAKER_00It looks really, really cool. Not only are they the posters, but they're all framed. They look sweet.
SPEAKER_01That looks amazing.
SPEAKER_00Rich, really cool photo. I'm glad you tagged us in this. Really cool to see this all like put together, and in the same vein, uh, shout out to Nick Stinson as well. Similar type of deal. I like though on the Frankenstein one that he's got like five different stickers going on as well.
SPEAKER_01That's cool, and of course, the Espinoza box La Bamba. You got your OGT monsters that looks so cool, really, really cool.
SPEAKER_00And so we hope uh in terms of that, and I know Raider Dave, I need to find Raider Dave's photo. He's got a similar setup as well. So shout out to Raider Dave.
SPEAKER_01Awesome. That's almost all of the ones we have back here.
SPEAKER_00I think we're gonna need to do a bride one one of these days, probably are, but also for anyone who's a member to be adding any of the Emerald Knights or the Crimson Knight.
SPEAKER_01That would make a pretty cool poster series.
SPEAKER_00It would say it would like if you have all five nights lined up, super, super cool. Uh, let's see here. Chandler.
SPEAKER_01Uh, what do you use to keep the smoke out? I keep seeing smoke go through your right. I was just curious. If you have a rabbit air, yes, there's a rabbit air right here. Yes, next to us, right off, right off. And then also we have a fan system in our windows that like will suck everything out. We have open doors going here. We do.
SPEAKER_00It's kind of, I don't know if you guys are familiar with the setup of like uh Cigar Dojo, how they have their kind of like studio setup. It's a little bit similar, uh, because in terms of our studio, like garage doors on the side that will roll up, so it basically opens up the entire room.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you get some breeze, it's yeah, it's it never feels stifling.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, when it's really, really cold and everything's closed up, we have a fan system in those windows and a heater on the other side pushing everything and filtering also.
SPEAKER_01It does pretty good, yeah.
SPEAKER_00For the most part, does a pretty good job. Uh, let's see here.
SPEAKER_01Uh Christopher says, I want all five nights.
SPEAKER_00I think too, as we continue through the year and more of these start surfacing, we're we're gonna try to work on a way of making the posters more readily available instead of just like this is a small amount, we're sending them at random.
SPEAKER_01We could probably put something up that's like a five-pack once all five come through.
SPEAKER_00If if that is available, we can't promise anything at this point, yeah if if that is an option, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um but if you haven't gotten one of the posters yet, it is it's on like really nice like paper, it's very like very crisp and clean. I'm I'm a paper printer nerd, so like it makes sense.
SPEAKER_00A printer whisperer, yeah, for sure, for sure. Um, but there you go. So that has it on our uh limited releases and how store them. I feel like as much as like you hear on so many different podcasts, okay, this is the way to do it, or this is the humidity you want to keep at. So much is also preference, and there are so many different ways to skin a cat in the cigar industry when it comes to how you store your cigars. The one thing I will say stay away from the biggest lie, in my opinion, that I was told for many, many years in the beginning was the 70-70 rule. Always keep your humidor at 70 humidity, 70 degrees. I think 70 humidity is too high. Uh, and I have adopted that philosophy for the last four or five years. One, I think your humidity in your humidor is going to change as seasons change, unless you have like the most perfect climate-controlled environment where your humidor is at. Uh, and two, I honestly think cigars smoke a lot better around the 66%, 67% humidity range over 70. So that is again personal preference, but yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_01We got one poster. Oh, Christopher uh Costman says one poster with all nights assembled. I think that would be a very cool idea.
SPEAKER_00I I do too.
SPEAKER_01So I think it'd be more of a landscape guy, though.
SPEAKER_00Yes, landscape and a possible idea when we were first starting out, as you'll notice in these stickers, you have the crimson, you had the emerald, with this really like kind of like simple but classic looking medieval, like flag shape behind it with their solid color. And I told my brother as he was making these, I was like, I want to see all five colors in stripe lines with all five line nights like lined up. I'm like, that would be so cool once it's all done. So once everything is finished for sure. Let's see, are there any more Wolfman posters? Would love to add to my OGT art as well. Working on more production, yes. And Raider Dave, I will hit you up. Uh, we'll we'll see what we can do about that. But yes, right now we don't have currently any, but working on production for sure. Uh, some town writers 67 for this guy, 100%.
SPEAKER_01Very interesting question here from Bravehearted uh XB. What are y'all's oral health routine? It's 8 55 here at night, and no matter what I do, I'm prepared to taste cigar in the morning. This topic isn't discussed frequently enough. Do a video on it. Okay. So we should. I think for the most part, it's just like really intense teeth brushing and mouthwash and stuff, but also I feel like my thing is that I really heavily avoid anything that leaves a like almost cigarette-y or dirty aftertaste, and and it's because of that. I don't necessarily want to taste cigar in the morning, and so I think that it kind of depends on the finish of the cigar you're smoking because it's like if the last cigar you smoke has a really clean finish, I don't think you notice that as much.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um, I mean, I don't know. What do you feel?
SPEAKER_00So it's hard for me to speak on this because I had a lot of friends, even Andrew or you have mentioned this before about like I just that cigar really was heavy. I still had like the ashy taste on my palate in the morning. I don't know if I've ever experienced it. Really? It's it's I it's not a like, oh, I've never had it's like I'm trying to figure out how to relate to it. I'm like, I don't know if I've ever really, I don't know what that sensation feels like. Um, I mean, I think avid brushing for sure, Listerine, sure. Um, but I think you what you're right is saying in terms of I have had some pretty dirty cigars in terms of flavor palette and such, but that's normally like in the beginning of the day.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, I don't know. Yeah, interesting.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I gotta do more research. So I appreciate the comment. Really good comment.
SPEAKER_01That is something we should probably yeah, I need to look at it. Dig more into, yeah.
SPEAKER_00For sure. Um uh RJ.
SPEAKER_01I like 65% humidity, but the last three days in Philadelphia with the hot and humid weather, my humidity shot up to 72 degrees in my cooled or yeah. I mean, I think that those fluctuations are gonna happen. I think as long as it doesn't get massively dry or massively wet, like you're gonna be okay, right? In the long run. Yeah, it's just trying to mitigate the fluctuation as much as you can.
SPEAKER_00The also misconception is that cigars, in my opinion, are far more resilient than people think they are, and that being like humidity and like drying out and such, like prolonged exposure or prolonged time is what's gonna do it in. But like quick scares that like what you're talking about, like for a day or two shooting up to 75 degrees, that's not, I mean, that's not great, but it's not the end of the world if you're able to control it instead of it being a prolonged time period. So I it's not that big of an issue, I I don't think. Um, but you just want to fix it once you notice it, basically.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh Mike Mitchell.
SPEAKER_01There's a 130 rule now. Humidity and temperature equals 130. That's interesting.
SPEAKER_00That is interesting.
SPEAKER_01So I mean, I feel like I'd get lost in the math on that guy.
SPEAKER_00I mean 60 degrees in it uh in temperature, and like that would equal 70. So it would be like what 67 and 63 degrees. That's interesting. I gotta look into that. I gotta talk more about this with you for sure. Uh Christopher's saying that's a whole damn show. It is.
SPEAKER_01I feel like it's interesting brushing our teeth on the show next next week.
SPEAKER_00Uh oh, let's see here. I haven't had that problem. My battle is cigar smoke beard. That's I can relate to.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Um, that is why I'm just like, you just gotta take a shower every night if you want to get rid of if you want to get rid of the beard smell. Yeah, I it is also hard when you're like inundated so much. You're like, yeah, I guess it does smell like smoke.
SPEAKER_01I think there is there is such a thing as getting used to a smell so that you don't always notice. I think I get nervous about that sometimes because I'm like, Yeah, yeah, how will I know?
SPEAKER_00You know, sure. So we got a lot of different uh comments here saying uh Therabreath in the blue bottle. Okay, interesting. We got uh Colgate has a toothpaste that is peroxide.
SPEAKER_01We tend to use uh like the whitening one a lot too. So I wonder if that one's a little more strong, uh flavor-wise, and that might be part of it. Definitely, also yeah. Uh hey guys, got just got home and got on. This from Scott English.
SPEAKER_00Awesome.
SPEAKER_01Uh tongue scraping is Mike Mitchell says tongue scraping is good. Uh RJ says I trust the Bovida packs regardless of what the hygrometer says.
SPEAKER_00That's another good point. I think the the longer you uh become familiar with your particular humidor, the cigars will let you know. Uh-oh.
SPEAKER_01Hold on just a minute, a minute, folks. We have a uh technical error. We went a little longer than normal. We flew too close to the sun. Uh here we go. Hello. Battery down. We're back.
SPEAKER_00Sorry about that. We're back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. We go one minute over and our camera decides it's done.
SPEAKER_00Um but do you have your cigars? We'll let you know whether they're smoking too dry, smoking too humidified. Again, that's prolonged exposure in your humidor. So it you can definitely, I think, gauge what your humidity should do once that happens.
SPEAKER_01Rob Brown says, I don't know if anyone's tried it, but I tried cool breath thinking it would be a waste of money, but it actually works. I tested it on my wife, and she doesn't smoke smell cigar at all afterwards. There you go. We do need to go do a show on this.
SPEAKER_00We need it too.
SPEAKER_01We have a lot of product um options here. We do. Yeah, we do. Yeah. Uh Raider Dave is also saying Tim Swanson did a video about mouthwash for cigar smokers a few years ago. He suggested smart mouth mouthwash. I tried it and it actually works great. Very cool. We got some great suggestions here. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Daniel Fraser, battery down.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, sorry, guys.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, we are coming to the end of the show. However, uh, once again, uh, for all our OGT Cigar Society members, tomorrow is a very exciting day. Crimson Night gets mailed out. If you're not a society member, jump on this while spots are open. Uh, super exciting. Cameroon wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and filler. So excited to be offering the cigar and the second installment in the night series. Um, it's gonna be really awesome. But thank you guys so much for spending time with us uh this Thursday evening. Uh talking limited cigars, uh, hopefully a few ideas, uh, whether it's your humidor or storing or even things to be on the lookout for. Um, Mike, we miss you too. It's great having you jump on. Um, and uh yeah, exciting weekend this weekend. Everyone have a great holiday, three day weekend, hopefully.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And we'll see you guys next week on the podcast. So thanks again for uh hanging out. And final comment love the band, color reminds me of the smoky lizard.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, a little bit. I could see that, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Awesome. Okay, everyone have a great night. Thanks again on OGT Live. Good night.
