Welcome to OGT Cigars Live Podcast, your neighborhood virtual cigar lounge. Each week we share the cigar experience with the OGT Cigars community. Join Mallory and I as we explore the world of boutique and unique premium cigars. I'm Eric, founder of Oakland Tobacconist and the OGT Cigar Society. I have a deep passion, and some might say obsession, with cigars and cigar culture. Working as an artistic theater director previously inspires me to infuse entertainment into the craft I love. Learning never stops. And I invite you to follow in our cigar journey.
SPEAKER_03I'm Mallory. While I don't ever claim cigar expertise, I've always been a foodie who's obsessed with scent and flavor. I can be counted on to provide bizarre tasting notes, such as the Home Depot Garden Center or Grandma's Basement, which always leads to good conversation. And good conversation is truly my favorite part of enjoying cigars with friends.
SPEAKER_00Welcome to OGT Cigars Live, where conversation lights up. Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another episode of OGT Cigars Live on a Thursday evening for the local uh, or I should say virtual Cigar Lounge. Uh, if you're joining us for the first time, or if you've been jumping on for some time, we are uh coming to you from North Carolina from the East Coast. My name is Eric, and with me tonight, my beautiful wife, Mallory.
SPEAKER_03Hi, how's it going?
SPEAKER_00We have a very special guest show. I shouldn't say guest guest. We have a lot of guests on this podcast, but a very special show tonight because we're gonna be talking about what to buy dad.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Father's Day presents.
SPEAKER_00The Father's Day gift idea. But this is not just a show about us putting together. Here's the idea, and this is what we're curating. We want your help to curate the perfect pack. The perfect gift.
SPEAKER_03Choose your own adventure.
SPEAKER_00It is. So we're gonna require all of your guys' help tonight. And as I see a lot of comments being dropped down right now, I'll not only uh encourage you, but I will say it is a must here on the show. Drop down your comments. What are you smoking tonight? What are you enjoying? If you have any comments of your own questions, but also to participate in creating the ultimate five-pack of cigars for Father's Day. It's gonna be pretty cool. So we're gonna pull up some comments here, as always. Uh, like I said, thank you guys for joining us tonight. Thank you for engaging. Keep those comments coming, and we will do our best to pull those up as well. So here, Faceless Orchestra.
SPEAKER_03Uh, hello everyone. Tonight I am smoking a night al Maduro pairing with Buffalo Trace. Very nice.
SPEAKER_00There you go. Classic, classic Cedar Car cigar like house blend from OGT. Uh, let's see here. Chandler 98.
SPEAKER_03Is smoking an AJ Fernandez De Senno Decenno De Senio had an emerald night earlier today, one of my favorites.
SPEAKER_00Actually, I just had an emerald night a few hours ago.
SPEAKER_03Just a couple hours ago. It's on the same.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's one of those things I feel like when we release a cigar, then we I mean, of course, I'll go through it over and over and over before we release it because there's a lot of like anticipation. But then, like, a little time will pass and I'll pull it out again. I'm like, man, this is why I enjoyed the cigar so much. Yeah, it's pretty special.
SPEAKER_03So it just comes back to it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, I'm right there with you. Uh, Faceless Orchestra.
SPEAKER_03Very much looking forward to this month's variety pack. Should be here Saturday. Nice, very nice. Nice.
SPEAKER_00Hopefully, you have it in time to join the weekend. Yes. Um, for those wondering what uh he might be talking about, our variety pack is a lineup of five different Maduros. I'm super excited about, and I'm very excited to hear what everyone thinks of the new chaos theory perfecto that comes from the uh Shadow Factory.
SPEAKER_03Exciting things, super excited.
SPEAKER_00Uh, let's see here. Daniel Frazier is on as well.
SPEAKER_03Evening, fam. Still finishing this final third of the wahoo. Paired it with some tray agave after a big old ribeye dinner.
SPEAKER_00That sounds there you go. There you go. That wahoo from lure, uh, pretty impressive. Yeah, I I've enjoyed both. I I can't say which one I like more, to be honest.
SPEAKER_03You haven't decided yet.
SPEAKER_00No, I mean, I think that more often than not, I go to box press. I really enjoy the box press for its power. And but the kingfish also just has this like dessert-like quality that's really good. So uh and he's also saying special guest, Mallory.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, finally, I keep being in and out so much the last couple months. I cannot, I don't know what it is. My immune system cannot get on top of it.
SPEAKER_00Our theory was like after you go through the immune system of everything it goes through in California, then you got to go through everything here in North Carolina.
SPEAKER_03Maybe your immune system to there. Apparently, or I just I just don't have one is the problem.
SPEAKER_00But I'm very happy to have her back on the podcast. Uh, and so yeah, it's part of tonight's festivities. Uh RJ is on as well.
SPEAKER_03Hello, Eric and Mallory. In honor of Father's Day, I'm smoking the father and son legacy from Perdomo, pairing it with a real big cup of crystal light iced tea. Very hot here in Philadelphia. Very hot here, too. It is warm, it is quite warm in the studio.
SPEAKER_00Yes, we're in the process of like getting our like AC for the studio portion figured out. Um, because yeah, if we I mean we landed last year, we kind of just like strong armed it through white knuckled in summer, but uh it's warm.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's definitely warm.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so uh let's see here. Randy is saying, Why is the box press so good? I mean, I tend to enjoy a box press myself, that's what I normally go to. So there you go. I there's nothing wrong with a box press. Yeah, um, but for tonight, uh, I want to uh talk a little bit about what we are smoking tonight because it's a very special cigar, especially coming off of talking about uh the Emerald Knight. So this year we started working with Valcari cigars a little bit. They are responsible for all the blends for lure cigars, and so we just received, which we'll talk a little bit later on as well, the new uh Decimus or Decimus uh 10th anniversary from Valcari. So this is the anniversary cigar that is celebrating 10 years of the Valcari factory in Nicaragua and Nimmer and his work that he does there. Uh, he's a great dude, great blender. And so we just got these in the studio, and that is what we're gonna be highlighting tonight.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm excited to give it a try.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I've already got these cut. Let's go for a cold draw here. Um, this is a six by 52 Toro San Andreas wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler. Very like almost for me, like a cakey chocolate chip cookie.
SPEAKER_03Really? Because I'm getting a little earth and like black tea. Yeah. So maybe I'm maybe my palate's a little off.
SPEAKER_00It's more the consistency, though. Like when you buy it into a really hearty, like cookie-like, almost browny consistency.
SPEAKER_03Power suggestion, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Perhaps. But it does sound good.
SPEAKER_03But that that sounds about right.
SPEAKER_00Both of us actually haven't smoked this cigar yet.
SPEAKER_03No, so it'll be first time on camera.
SPEAKER_00So we're gonna go ahead and light this up and see where it starts. Guys, keep those comments coming down and let's get into the cigar. Today's cigar is brought to you by the OGT Cigar Society membership. Enjoy a five-pack of premium custom cigars each month at an undeniable price. Okay, so I'm getting a fair amount of pepper on the retro, but good sweetness and also a lot of espresso notes. Dark coffee notes. I don't know. What are you what are your thoughts so far?
SPEAKER_03Give me a second. I feel like I I just barely lit up and I'm I'm I'm catching up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's this is really interesting because it um has that San Andreas like chocolatey element, signature Nicaraguan spice to it, but also this really like I don't know, dense espresso, yeah, like espresso powder, something like that going on.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. Really interesting. Yeah. Very um I'm trying to, I'm I get what you're saying because there is an espresso and there's something that it's reminding me of, and I cannot it'll get there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it'll get there right off. We're I mean, we're right off light out here. Uh let's see here. Daniel Frazier has a comment.
SPEAKER_03The Kingfish one has been a chocolate bomb the entire time, a few hits of coffee and spice sneaking, and a very faint whisper of earth. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Very dessert-like. Yeah. That's the non-box press Wahoo. Um, and that's why I say I kind of go back and forth between the two. I think they're really good. Um, it's hard to go either way.
SPEAKER_03What do you notice the differences are on that?
SPEAKER_00The box press definitely has more power and punch to it, I feel like, at least on the retrohale coming out the gate. Um, I feel like the uh Kingfish, it's a hardier cigar, it's also a larger cigar. Um, but yeah, definitely more dessert-like forward for me. Yeah. How about how about now with this uh yeah, yeah. What do you think so far?
SPEAKER_03I yeah, I think I still have the coffee. There's also a little bit. There's some kind of little botanical note that I'm trying to figure out.
SPEAKER_00Um kind of spice in there. Like a big channel.
SPEAKER_03I feel like yeah, I feel like it's reminding me of a chocolate bar that I've had before, but a really, really dark chocolate bar, um, more so than it is espresso.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03Like, I I think that that's what's confusing me because it's like, yes, I do taste the coffee a little bit, but I think it's more like really intensely dark chocolate.
SPEAKER_00Almost like if you had a dark chocolate Dubai chocolate. Yeah, the nutty stuff's sweet pistachio deal going on.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Really interesting stuff. So Vallicari is one of those companies.
SPEAKER_03It's timely.
SPEAKER_00It is. They're celebrating 10 years. It's a pretty big deal, decade, landmark. Um, but they're still fairly new to me, at least. Like I'm still kind of learning. Sorry, sorry about that, guys. I think we lost there for a second.
SPEAKER_02But I'm still learning about what they do when it was like we lost internet earlier today, and I was like, oh no, don't want that happening. This should be the time.
SPEAKER_00Um, but it's been really interesting. They have a lot of they have a vast library of cigars warehouse, and so it's been cool to kind of learn about their stuff. And I I mean, lure, we're talking about the Wahoo, we're talking about this cigar, Emerald Knight, Crimson Knight. I've just been endlessly impressed with what they do.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, it's been a very um a very good introduction to Valakari this year.
SPEAKER_00So tonight we're gonna put a little bit of a little bit of people on the spot. Okay, because we want to craft the ultimate five pack. Now, being that it's Father's Day, I feel like honestly, and I'm sure uh I'll be backed up by this, but it's easier to shop for Father's Day than it is for Mother's Day.
SPEAKER_03You think so?
SPEAKER_00I think so.
SPEAKER_03I don't know about that.
SPEAKER_00I think that you can generalize gifts a bit easier when it comes to fathers than it is with mothers.
SPEAKER_03I okay, I disagree with that because yes, the the sentimental factor kind of plays in a little bit with Mother's Day, you know, whereas with Father's Day, it's specificity. So it's like, yes, there will be like okay, there's like certain lanes of like things that that you like, right? Okay, but whatever the special interest is, you have to know the special interest really, really well so that you don't get the like not exciting version of whatever you know what I mean. That like you can't you get something lame if someone has a very intense special interest, right? Okay, and you're like, okay, again, if we're just saying cigars, right? If we're like, oh yeah, so and so likes cigars, and then you get them something that they're yeah, because they're said so into it, they're not no, I I could see that I I think more so like before the shop, I used to like coordinate some of the events at the farm and such.
SPEAKER_00Um, it was so much more difficult to find out what to coordinate for a Mother's Day event versus a Father's Day event.
SPEAKER_03Really?
SPEAKER_00And that's kind of where I come from like from that angle, because you're right. I mean, in that niche idea, but it's like at the same time, like if you have an event that's around Father's Day and there is like beer or there's whiskey, yeah, it's probably gonna work.
SPEAKER_03I think it's that there are perhaps less expectations about it. But if you're like, I would like to give a good Father's Day gift, like that just means in some situations, you have to know a lot about World War II, you know, or you have to know a lot about cigars or whiskey, or you have to know a lot about whatever his favorite sport is, because if you get the wrong thing within that category, then it's a lame present.
SPEAKER_00Okay, but that also comes from someone who's like actually good at giving gifts and cares.
SPEAKER_03I know I'm really stressed about giving gifts. Like, I I'm always high anxiety about it, it's gotta be right.
SPEAKER_00I mean, yeah, true. I mean, maybe this is just the two different perspectives of the same problem coming coming at it, but I mean you bring up sports, Paul's very perfectionist about giving gifts. True, true. You bring up sports. Scott Nunn is on tonight saying, uh let's see here. Sorry, can we hey guys? Taking a break from game five, definitely easier. I'm assuming the hurricanes are not doing too well.
SPEAKER_03I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I don't I don't know. Scott, how are they doing? That's what I'm assuming you're talking about. And speaking of sports, I witnessed potentially one of the most historical basketball games in NBA history last night, and I have never been so depressed. If anyone had watched the Spurs, uh Spurs NBA game, like what a complete letdown. If you're it if you're a Knicks fan, like Ray from Cigar Clowns, you're gonna be happy about it.
SPEAKER_03But man oh man, he's as tied at intermission, so doing fine.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so tied at intermission. That it's not as bad as what happened yesterday uh to the Spurs, tied one on one. Okay, so here we go. I mean, moving to North Carolina, we can't but help but say, okay, hurricane should win.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so I I'm I I don't know. I just watched the whole thing last night. I was like, well, that was fun because I'm not rooting for either side. I'm sorry, because it's not, I'm just excited. I'm just excited to watch.
SPEAKER_00I was excited until the fourth quarter.
SPEAKER_03Okay, all right.
SPEAKER_00Okay, that being said, let's get down to how to uh create a great Father's Day present or a great Father's Day five pack. And this is gonna require every one of you guys because you need to put in your vote. Your voice. We need some votes that's gonna dictate on what goes into this five pack. So think of it almost like you would do like a draft in fantasy football. Think of it almost as like you're in the humidor and you're handpicking your own selection, or you want to create a great five pack of cigars that you want to give as a gift to maybe your relative, your brother, your your father, who you're like, these are the cigars you should enjoy if you enjoy cigars. Because this is something that we here at OGT do every single year when it comes to Father's Day. It's like, what are we gonna do for Father's Day? Make it special, uh, and make it kind of different from the OGT way. So we're gonna jump into that. Let's take one comment here from RJ, and then we're we're gonna start the process. You can go ahead and says, Hey man, I've uh been a Spurs fan since 1989, seen a lot from the Spurs, but man, that loss made me very depressed. Like I said, it was NBA history in a bad way, it was horrible. I I I mean, as they even the announcer said, like, no one on NBA finals has ever done this before. And I mean, more power to the Knicks, I guess. Like, if you do that, then I guess you deserve to win. But I thought going into the third quarter, we had it in the bag. Uh, they just straight up blew the game, too many three-pointers in the second half. Uh, yes, and not enough from the Spurs, going from red hot to making, I think, 35 points in the second half. Like, anyways, let's move on. Let's move on.
SPEAKER_02So really heated.
SPEAKER_00What we're gonna do is I have five different categories, and within each category speed round, within each category, uh, is a particular type of either like cigar, like type of wrapper, or you could even say, I guess, genre that it fits in. And we're gonna put up three different selections. You guys are gonna vote which one belongs in this five pack. We also get a vote, okay. But our vote is only equal one.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_00So we're we're vote is equal to yours.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_00We're all gonna put in a vote for each uh cigar in each category. As I say, three different cigars in each category, and by the end, we will have the top five picks to create the ultimate Father's Day sampler pack. And I believe, like starting tomorrow, if anyone's interested, we may even have the sampler available, depending on how this shakes out.
SPEAKER_01All right.
SPEAKER_00So if you guys are ready, get your comment fingers ready because we are first gonna be putting in our first mild, smooth, I'll say mild to medium cigar. And that, of course, is probably gonna be wrapped in a what do you think? Connecticut Connecticut wrapper, yes. Because you want a the thing about it is you want a vast different type of stuff.
SPEAKER_03You want you want as a spectrum of cigars.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so we're gonna put up three different cigars here. Here is uh number one for the Connecticut, uh, is the Validacion Connecticut uh from Agonor Salif. This is in here because it is one of my main go-to Connecticut. I'm not a huge Connecticut fan. Um, there's nothing wrong with Connecticut's, it's just normally not my palette. I'm particular about certain ones. All three of these I that I'll show you, I think are great. But this one is like one of my main go-tos.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_00It's got power, it's got cedar, it's great. Following that first one, we've got number two, we've got the black label trading company porcelain. Black label trading company porcelain is, I mean, you know, it's it's it's porcelain. It's got more power and more oomph than a lot of other Connecticut's uh out there. So there's that one. And then finally, being more refined, more elegant, we have the brulee blue from Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust. This brulee blue is uh continual bestseller at OGT. In fact, all three of them do really well, but the brulee blue is like soccer elegance, complexity, and there you have it. So, what is your vote going to? Is it going to the Agonorsa? Is it going to the porcelain, or is it going to the brulee blue? And I might have to grab something very quickly. So I'm gonna throw up uh let's see here. This real quick. One second, put in your comments, put in your votes, what goes in there.
SPEAKER_03Let's see. Let's see our comments. Alright.
SPEAKER_00Alrighty, so looks like comments are coming down. Uh let's go ahead and pull this off. Let's see here. Uh Randy's saying, okay, love it. He's in for it. Uh and Fraser before says full production of or L's. Or LEs. These are honestly, these some LEs are in here and some full production. Let's see here. Frasier says portion. Porcelain.
SPEAKER_03So we got a vote for porcelain.
SPEAKER_00Which uh I'm gonna write this down. Okay, what else is next?
SPEAKER_03And we've got, here we go. Randy C says black label all day. So we got another for porcelain.
SPEAKER_00Scott Nunn is saying porcelain.
SPEAKER_03Black label porcelain is going out in front.
SPEAKER_00Uh RJ is saying I can't. And uh Faceless Orchestra is saying blue the the brulee blue for dad. What are you saying?
SPEAKER_03Brulee blue, blue.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I figured that's kind of Mallory's.
SPEAKER_03No, you put that up, and I was like, oh, that's what I want to smoke next. My attention span. I like that reasoning, Faceless Orchestra says, because it's a fancy cigar. It is.
SPEAKER_00Faceless Orchestra is in the game because that's exactly why I put it in here. Because if you'll notice, these kind of appeal to three different types of dads out there. One is like Agonorsa is more of your classic Cuban-esque, but really interesting, complex like cigar that's not going to break the bank. Black Label Trading Company is more boutiquey, it's more edgy, it's more not your normal Connecticut. And then if you want the more elegant, like elegant, refined version, you go to Roulet Blue. All right. So there you go.
SPEAKER_03So, what kind of dad goes with each cigar? Can we pause to do what kind of dad does each cigar grab?
SPEAKER_00I think for the next election. All right. See what see what each goes to. Um, okay, so you have brulee blue.
SPEAKER_04I still like to hear what people say.
SPEAKER_00I'm honestly, I think everyone knows what I'm gonna go with. I'm gonna go with porcelain. So uh, last call for votes, guys. We have uh porcelain out in front with four votes. Below that is brulee blue, and last is Agonorsa. So last call for votes. If you haven't put down your votes, we're gonna be moving on to the next one so far, and that means porcelain will be going into this five pack. It's just like I said, it's a different type of Connecticut. Everyone throws that around, not your grandfather's Connecticut. But it's like, yeah, but porcelain is porcelain. I mean, honestly, all these could be thrown into that. Okay, so I think we have that for our votes. We're gonna go to the next one and we're gonna step it up in terms of strength and body a little bit in this category. Uh, let's see here. Faceless orchestra say last year my daughter gifted me a 50-year anniversary Padrone. So there you go. See, that's elegance. This makes sense that I'm getting a sense of what Faceless Faceless Orchestra likes to go with. Yes, more refined, elevated experience. I get that. I get that. Okay, next we're gonna be moving into all three cigars of these are Habano. All right, because Habano is one of the most classic like rapper leaves, I say, from the like late 90s to even current time. You can have so many different experiences off that. So, first and foremost, um, out of there. Oh, wait, we got one more vote for brulee. Mike Ross. Okay. It got close. It got close.
SPEAKER_03But I think porcelain porcelain took it.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so for Habano, we have a collaboration that started a company getting together, and that is the Goldie by Shaffio Cigar Collection and Cigar Clowns. This has got some really good cinnamon roll-y, like sweetness, douginess, cookie dough. It's a corona gorda, so it's not the longest like smoking duration, but it packs such a punch of flavor. So you have that. You have another one from Black Label Trading Company, one of the probably most underrated Black Label or Black Orcs cigars out there, in my opinion, the NBK Natural Born Killer. This Habano, uh, especially in the Robusto, is or and a Corona Larga, is just a powerhouse of flavor. And then finally, you have the Viva La Vida from Artizano del Tobacco, which is rolled. I was I was hoping to make it as difficult as I could.
SPEAKER_03Now, also with your votes, tell us what kind of dad smokes each of these cigars.
SPEAKER_00That's right.
SPEAKER_03Personify. We want the personification of each of these cigars as a dad.
SPEAKER_00So uh this one's rolled at AJ Fernandez factory. We all know Artizano, El Puerpo cigars. There's our three. What is going in next to the porcelain? Do we have the Goldy Grace, the NBK by Blackworks Studio, and Viva La Vida? As those comments are coming in, what are you voting for? You also got to look at this too of what is already in the pack.
SPEAKER_03I think I'm gonna go with the NBK on this one.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so double blackworks going on in this one. I mean, NBK is a really hard one to beat, that's for sure. Yep, it's it's good.
SPEAKER_03I just might end up being just uh Ovehan Negra.
SPEAKER_00That's true, depending on where else this goes.
SPEAKER_03Who knows? Um, we've got some comments.
SPEAKER_00Personally, I am gonna vote for Viva La Vida. All right, I think that is such a like quintessential Habano. It has so many things I like, and it's a any time of the day cigar. So vote for Viva. Let's see here. We got some uh coming down here.
SPEAKER_03Oh, Habano, all three. Habano Father's Day.
SPEAKER_00There you go. Scott Nunn is saying cigar clowns for the Goldie Grace. Okay. Uh Daniel Frazier. Oh, this is tough. It is. I was hoping to make it tough. So that's good.
SPEAKER_03Tricky decisions for Father's Day.
SPEAKER_00RJ is saying the Goldie.
SPEAKER_03Goldie. Goldie's out of head. Randy is saying Goldie. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Oh man. That's making it that's making a run for it. What kind of dad smokes a Goldie Grace from Cigar Clouds?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00For me, it's a cigar smoker who is a cigar smoker. Yeah. It's like a deep dive.
SPEAKER_03No, that's where it's like this is deep dive present. You know what I mean? Like you're like, you're like, I actually know exactly what you like, and I'm getting it for you, as opposed to like, I saw this and I thought you like cigars.
SPEAKER_00And then it's a you'll notice I haven't put any acids up yet.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Happy father.
SPEAKER_00Randy says, a good dad. It's true. It's true. It's a it's a great, great, great cigar. And not only see, here's the added layer I didn't talk about though. If you put Goldie Grace in the sampler pack that you give your dad, it also comes with a really awesome backstory and added layer. That being part of the proceeds on every Goldie Grace goes to fighting against human trafficking.
SPEAKER_03Sorry, philanthropic dad.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you're adding an extra layer to that. Let's see here. Faceless Orchestra, Goldie Rules. It's also what my wife's grandma name is. Grandson is due next month. Congratulations.
SPEAKER_03That's awesome. Congratulations. Congratulations to both of you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's awesome.
SPEAKER_03That's so exciting. That's a good grandma name. I like that.
SPEAKER_00It is. All right. So for anyone joining us right now, we are voting on how to create the Ultimate Five pack by having several different categories, three different cigars in each category.
SPEAKER_03The current snarrowing it down.
SPEAKER_00It is current is Habano. Put in your vote. What deserves to be in this pack? The Goldie Grace Habano, Corona Gorda, the NBK from Blackwork Studio, Corona Larga, or the Viva La Vita uh Robusto from Artizano del Tobacco. So we're wrapping up here. So put in your votes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, one more for NBK from Mike Rox. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03And Thesis Orchestra says, Thank you. Yes. Congratulations.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So I think I'm going to call it, and it looks like Goldie Grace is out in front of us.
SPEAKER_03All right. So we've got Goldie Grace and Porcelain. Goldie Grace and Porcelain.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00So this.
SPEAKER_03Oh, Daniel Frazier said NBK haven't tried it yet.
SPEAKER_00Oh, Daniel, you got to try that. I think you'd really, really like it. Like I said, I think it's one of the most underrated Black Work Studio Black Label cigars.
SPEAKER_03It just kind of flies under the radar.
SPEAKER_00Yes. It's so good. MBK is incredible. In fact, we've had Derek from Black Label on as a guest multiple times, and that's his personal favorite. And he we had a long story about that. And he says also, if you get that cigar, pair it with an Elijah Craig rye. Goes really well.
SPEAKER_04Oh.
SPEAKER_00Uh Randy Secondson says MBK is awesome. Yeah. Okay. So for this next category, this is more like in the Sumatra slash natural. And that could be Habano natural, like Sumatra, anything that's really not fermented to be dark enough to be a Maduro, but also not a Connecticut. It's more of an American standard mark or whatever you want to call it.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_00Here's our next three cigars. We have the cigar was mentioned earlier, the New World Decinio, Decenio, Decinio, from AJ Fernandez, which is a San Andreas, but it's not quite dark enough to be a full Maduro San Andreas. So this is an incredible AJ cigar. Next to that, we have also from Shafield their Sumatra. Speak no evil, which is one of the like unsung heroes, I feel like of the portfolio. And a lot of people have been catching on to that. Or the Stolen Throne Three Kingdom, which is at OGT, like the brick and mortar was nicknamed Christmas Spice. Or it's like Christmassy, spicy elements.
SPEAKER_03It still would taste good on Father's Day.
SPEAKER_00It does. It does. So are we going with AJ Fernandez, which has look at that classic labeling? Very classic look. We're going with the more deeper dive, speak no evil, Sumatra, or the Three Kingdoms Habano from Stolen Thrones cigars.
SPEAKER_03Three kingdoms.
SPEAKER_00I figured you'd go with Three Kingdoms. It is really good. It's one of my favorites. Three kingdoms.
SPEAKER_03It's like a it's like those oranges with cloves in them, the pomanders.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. It's so it's weird. It's so Christmassy.
SPEAKER_03It's so Christmassy, but right in the middle. It's interesting because it definitely has transitions, and you have to wait till about the middle before you're like, oh, there it is. It's a little bit of citrus, a little bit of clove, some baking spice. Oh, it's beautiful.
SPEAKER_00The thing about Stolen Throne is uh Lee Marsh is continued to hold his record that every cigar he has put out, I have enjoyed. There's a lot of brands out there that I really do like, but it's like, well, out of these five, I would say these three are really good highlights. The other two are pretty good. Where Stolen Throne across the board, like they're just all amazing.
SPEAKER_04Always. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Really good stuff. And that took him, I think, three or four years to finally release because he kept refining, refining, refining. Um, I think for me personally, I'm probably gonna go three kingdoms too. Okay, it's an excellent pick.
SPEAKER_03All right, let's see what let's see what the votes say.
SPEAKER_00RJ saying decennio from uh AJ Fernandez. Good pick. Uh Michael is saying decenio as well from AJ. We got Randy dropping down three kingdoms. This one's gonna be pretty close.
SPEAKER_03This is gonna be close. Scott Nunn says three kingdoms. Base Legal Orchestra says three kingdoms.
SPEAKER_00Well, it was gonna be close. Now it is a Frazier is saying three kingdoms. Uh, let's see here. Faces Orchestra, I celebrate.
SPEAKER_03All Stolen Throne releases. Uh, just ordered the Stolen Throne sample pack. Very nice.
SPEAKER_00Yes, that is a great pack, especially if you're also looking for hidden gems like Doctor's Orders 2, which is still in the running for my like cigar of the year. It's excellent. Uh, let's see here. Josh is saying David Off, uh, Davidoff, Winston Churchill late hour is fire.
SPEAKER_03There is something about reading the comments that makes me forget how to do pronunciations of things that I already know how to say.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
unknownI don't know what that is.
SPEAKER_02David David David.
SPEAKER_00There you go.
SPEAKER_02Which is funny because anyone who's named David, you always say David.
SPEAKER_00I know. We have a friend named David actually came in here with wine tasting.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was on the show.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I still call him David because of Davidoff.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So um throne, not a drone. There you go. Oh, yeah, yeah. Talk text always gets to me every time. It does.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so right now our pack consists of porcelain, the Goldy Grace, and three kingdoms.
SPEAKER_03All right. What kind of dad another one?
SPEAKER_00The three kingdoms, another three kingdoms there.
SPEAKER_03Our butt cheek says three kingdoms.
SPEAKER_00I would say I would say classic dad smokes three kingdoms.
SPEAKER_03All right.
SPEAKER_00It's a it's got a really good, like a man who has a good sweater.
SPEAKER_03Like he has at least one really good sweater, you know? Like brings it out for the holidays. Not like a cheesy Christmas sweater, like uh one of those like Irish, like braided ones. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's yeah, because honestly, I can't help but think of like it's yeah, the dad that you know on Thanksgiving like pulls this cigar out. Yeah. This is like one glass of whiskey like every quarter of the year. Cognac. Or cognac. Yeah. He would have it with cognac. Mike Ross is AJ.
SPEAKER_03That's our personification of the three king, three kingdoms dad.
SPEAKER_00I still think three kingdoms takes it, takes it pretty easy. Um, okay, so this next category uh is I think gonna be much harder harder because oh, we got another comment from Daniel Frazier on our Three Kingdoms dad. Smokes a Christmas pipe.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes, and then what he does is classy.
SPEAKER_00Little bit L-O-B, you know, but also doesn't want the cigar to go to waste. So he has his Christmas pipe, he smokes it down to the nub, puts it into the top of his pipe, and smokes the rest.
SPEAKER_03Uh-huh. Yes.
SPEAKER_00There you go. He lives in the three kingdoms.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so for this next one, we're going for Maduros.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_00This one's going to be a bit more difficult. Try to rate something. It's definitely difficult for me. Okay, so let's start off with something somewhat fairly new. In fact, all three of these are pretty fairly new. Uh, first of which is the uh Kronos from Cordoba and Morales. This cigar left such an impression on me, and I continue to go back and forth with it. I love it. It is a great Brazilian Madafina. Brilliant cigar from Cordoba and Morales. Brand, brand new release coming up to that is the Osgener Maracana. Now, it's dark, it's a Brazilian ariporaca, and it's used as sort of like a commemoration to the famed Brasilia for CAO that Osgener released before selling CAO. Um, we just got it in. It's very, very good. One of Osgener's better ones, best ones. Um, so there's that. And then we also have Espinoza Warhead 12, the newest warhead that was released this year. Uh Nicaraguan Habano, I'm sorry, Nicaraguan Broadleaf Wrapper, um, box press. So all of which powerhouses, I would say this is probably the more medium side of the Maduros, more medium, medium plus, and then on the stronger side. That is our Maduro lineup for this pack. Uh, for Father's Day, what are you putting in this pack? Are you okay?
SPEAKER_03This is the warhead. I think the warhead. I've been shooting from the hip pretty much every and then afterwards I'll think of all the other reasons why.
SPEAKER_00If you're shooting from the hip from a warhead, what made you go with that one?
SPEAKER_03I feel like it would balance the pack.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I also feel I'm also going with war.
SPEAKER_03Because I'm thinking of across the board. We are building a sampler pack, so I'm thinking about the sampler pack.
SPEAKER_00Yes, which is good because we got it, we got three kingdom, goldie, porcelain. You maybe want something a bit heavier, stronger. Uh, I'm going with Warhead for two reasons. One, because it's Warhead, and I just I can't get enough of this cigar. I'm a little biased. Two, uh, it has the added flair of this cigar just released and it's released only once a year. And so we wanted to make your gift really special.
SPEAKER_04So that so we put it in with very limited scale.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because both of these are very, very good. And if you want that in your pack, Kronos, Maricana, like understandably so, they're incredible, but they also are not limited production, yeah. So you can get them on other times other than Father's Day.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but there's a lot of logistical reasons why, yeah. You gotta add these layers of story behind what's in this gift, and then to add to that layer of story, who is the warhead dad?
SPEAKER_00This is like the vet.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's like has the greatest stories, the craziest stories.
SPEAKER_03Um, which I think starting a game of football after Thanksgiving.
SPEAKER_00Yes, exactly.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, okay, yeah, and also and like taking it a little too seriously, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like maybe hurting somebody a little bit, yes, yeah, but also is like you want to smoke a cigar, smoke a cigar, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Type of thing. Yeah, tough but fair.
SPEAKER_00Yes. All right, let's see here. We got RJ going for Warhead 12. So there's another book for Warhead.
SPEAKER_03Randy. Randy says Chronos.
SPEAKER_00That's a hard one, too. It's so good. Uh Toby is saying Warhead for the 601. Cheek 74 saying Warhead. This one looks like it's also gonna run away with it. Kronos, the Warhead 12 is good, is a good one. I get it. He took it. Oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, acknowledgement. Yeah, okay, okay, good. Acknowledgement. I get it. Faceless Orchestra is saying I really like that Kronos wrapper.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so that was my initial. I was I was really waffling between the two, partly because the wrapper, yeah, for a grip gift wrapper goes a long way, but that warhead would be really cool too. I'd never had one excited to try. Yeah, the wrapper does make it special, so that's something to think about as well.
SPEAKER_00It is true. Warhead, I mean, the Kronos is a beautiful looking cigar. That Modofina is great. Um, but I also say, yeah, check out the Warhead.
SPEAKER_03I want to take a little pause. Uh oh, Scott Nunn says Kronos to ask you something.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_03All right, so you build samplers all the time, right? Obviously. How much does the play of all the labels go together for you in terms of like because a lot of the time, you know, you'll pick by rapper, you'll pick by new releases, you'll pick by fun limiteds that people might not have tried. But how much does the aesthetic of how these labels go together or how the actual like appearance of the cigars plays into your choices?
SPEAKER_00Well, that's a good idea.
SPEAKER_03And what's one of your favorites that you've done in the last six months?
SPEAKER_00Okay, so for the most part, more commonly than not, the deciding factor, what goes into a sampler is brand. We normally do like, especially with boutique companies, like brand samplers. Yeah. Try a bunch of different stuff. Um, more often than not, I go for flavor profile if I'm doing a range of different stuff, unless it is specific like uh wrapper leaf. Yeah, I try to like go like across the board. Here's some things that we'll cover. Um, but I will say one of the occasions that label plays a factor is we made one that uh is uh which I believe is called Green is the wind or something like that.
SPEAKER_04Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00Everything is a green wrapper.
SPEAKER_04Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00And I did this recently because we had new release of like the bleak, the Emerald Knight, the VIH jalapeno, which we still have a few of these, the Kronos. But I was like, you know, there have been some recent really big bangers with green labels.
SPEAKER_03That are green. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So green is king, is what we call it. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, I would say, in terms of samplers, that was one of my favorite um that we put together. Honestly, what it would be probably uh one of the most recent. Um, and this is because uh we had a lot of stuff drop, and I was like, this is a um this is a really cool sampler altogether, and that's the Espinoza one that I put together because you have that 20th from Espinoza, you have the Warhead, and that knuckle sandwich on the right hand side, the Puro, is by far my favorite regular production knuckle sandwich. Okay, if you want an Espinoza sampler, like this one's past the one to go with. I got super excited when I put it together. Uh, let's see here. John is saying Warhead 12.
SPEAKER_03And then did you already get up there? We have Mike Ross.
SPEAKER_00Mike Ross is saying Warhead. And then John Independence Day was really good, uh, which hopefully is coming very, very soon, but it is very good. See, uh, yeah, Eric, you build some banger sampler packs. Well, thank you so much. I appreciate it. I I enjoy it, I get excited about it. We normally create a few a week. Um, the most recent being like that Espinoza or the Doctor's Orders one. Um, these are again brands you're just not gonna miss on. See here, I'm holding out for the 26th Independence. Very, it's like it's imminent, so I'm looking forward to it too. It's one of the most exciting warheads out there. So, yes, I'm looking forward to it.
SPEAKER_03So it looks like Warhead takes it for the Maduro section.
SPEAKER_00Warhead takes it. So we've got Goldie Grace, porcelain, warhead. Okay, here comes our final ones, and I think this is probably gonna be the hardest of them all, maybe, or it's gonna be a landslide. So this last category is specific to Oakland Tobacconists because this is OGT cigar exclusives. These are exclusives you can only find at OGT. This makes it really special for the my father for the Father's Day pack. Let's start it off with something like Bruno the Butcher from Shaffio Cigar Collection. By far seems to be everyone's ex favorite of the rare breeds collection. Next to that, you have the Stallone Naysayer, which was the year of the naysayer, which is very difficult, very difficult, and then finally black label trading company Triforium. That was our sixth anniversary. This is gonna be difficult. This is very difficult. Do you go with Bruno the Butcher? Do you go with Year of the Naysayer, or do you go with Black Label Trading Triforium? And three excellent companies Shaffio, Stallone, and Black Label. What is going to win out? This one's hard. I think I made specifically made this one for Mallory.
SPEAKER_03Just to stump me.
SPEAKER_00Get those comments going. Uh, I'm gonna go ahead and pull those up. We'll see what people say. Let's see here. RJ is going with Naysayer. Nice. Uh Frazier is going with Bruno the Butcher. Uh, we got another naysayer. Awesome. Keep those comments coming down. We got Scott Nunn saying Triforium. Also, tough choices. Yes, it is very tough choices. Uh, Cheek is saying Naysayer. Two to one cane. Two to one canes. Nice. All right. Very nice. Keep that up. What are you going with? Bruno the Butcher. Yeah, I figured. We got Bruno the Butcher. What do you think I'm going with?
SPEAKER_04Triforium.
SPEAKER_00Triforium. Yes. It is hard. All three of them are amazing. If you are, I mean, all three are maybe we should replace seven. It is it is hard.
SPEAKER_03Because we do have Black Label already in the pack, in the decided pack, even though I love Triforium so much.
SPEAKER_00I will give, I think that Bruno the Butcher is one of the most consistent smoking experiences that you'll ever have. And that being, it always draws great. It's always a like a like a blast of smoke. It's so good. It's so dessert-like. I really enjoy it. Um, and let's see here. Randy's saying just do an OGT Father's Day sampler. Looking into that, doing as well. See, we'll see what's available. Um, let's see, RJ's saying put all three in the back.
SPEAKER_03Put all three in the pack.
SPEAKER_00The problem is is the the scarcity of them. Um, I will say, so far, in terms of, and you guys are kind of getting the inside scoop, something that we launched uh as a like great ultimate pack to fill the humidor, is we have put in a blind mystery pack, 20 different cigars at 45% off. We call the ultimate father's day gift bag. Uh, there's some really, really good cigars in here, and we've kind of done mystery packs before. This one I'm very excited for. Um, it's really special. We did just launch this, but there's a lot of other Father's Day stuff that's coming this weekend as well. But check that out, it's pretty cool. Um, but get your final votes. Uh RJ says the dad is deserved. What kind of dad smokes Bruno the Butcher? I feel like it's also kind of a deep dive.
SPEAKER_03Okay, tough but kind of a soft deep.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03Like externally very tough, but very like approachable.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Easy to talk with. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Honestly, they are all tough. I I think I had to go with Triforium because of the history involved with the cigar.
SPEAKER_03Smokes Triforium.
SPEAKER_00A dad who loves cigars. No, um, it's definitely a cool dad. It's it's definitely a just like one, a Maduro loving cigar. Yeah, all right. Yeah, there you go. Uh, let's see here.
SPEAKER_03Mike Ross said black label.
SPEAKER_00Black label. Okay, we are currently at a tie right now. A tough one. A tough dad smokes it. All right, someone's got to break the tie. Right now, we've got Bruno the Butcher, Nay Sayer, and Triforium. Two of these are tied, and I'm not gonna say which ones are because you've got to break the tie. Okay, so put that down in the comments. What are you guys voting for? For we got to break this tie before the night is out.
SPEAKER_03Maybe we've already had all of our votes in, though. From oh, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Maybe. Is there anyone else voting on those last three? While you guys think about it, think about it, put down those comments. Uh, we have a little bit of news to cover.
SPEAKER_04All right.
SPEAKER_00Let's jump into a bit of cigar news. Oh, there are thousands of podcasts dedicated to world, national, and even local news. But the best part about sitting at your favorite local lounge is asking that friend, what's new with you this week? Or what are you smoking? And that's exactly what we want to know. Drop in the comments something notable that happened to you this week. A promotion of work, a cool vacation, or even that new burger joint you tried. We want to know. Get your commenting figures and put it down now. Alright, so here we go. We got a bit of news. Okay, we got comments dropping down too. So we will announce who wins the tiebreaker after this news. During the news. Add a bit of suspense. All right. Big, big headline. We were talking about Warhead 12. Uh, one of the companies that we carry here is Espinoza. Espinoza makes some of my favorite cigars. Espinoza Cigar Company just announced they are not making a bigger factory, they are making a brand new factory in the Dominican Republic. Dominican Republic, new factory that's uh being put up there. Uh, as Eric Espinoza said at a like podcast and news saying that he loves Nicaraguan tobacco, he loves the culture of Nicaragua, but he also wants to branch out and try some new things. This I find really interesting because we heard about this and uh saw it happen with Drew Estate as well.
SPEAKER_03Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_00You see companies moving.
SPEAKER_03There's some branching, yeah. Yeah, not necessarily moving, but expanding into as well, right?
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes, exactly. I mean, and I think one of the first it wasn't to the Dominican, but my father cigars move had a factory built in Honduras, and now we have this in Dominican, we have Drew Estate in the Dominican. Uh, really interesting. Uh, what are your thoughts though? Like, what do you think about an Espinoza, which is known for its like peppery, punchy, on going to the Dominican side?
SPEAKER_03I'd be interested to see what they do with it.
SPEAKER_00It's gonna be interesting. Yeah, my theory is that while we'll see a lot more Espinoza stuff with Dominican tobacco, I still think it's gonna be mixed to have quite a bit of Nicaraguan tobacco. Still that Espinosa oomph. Yeah, that's signature. That's my theory. Uh very quickly, Jason's saying, Hey, Eric and Mallory, sorry so late. I'm at work still. I'm sorry. Sorry, sorry to hear that. We're we've got people dropping down comments. Jason, what is your vote to put in a sampler pack? Would you vote put in Bruno the Butcher? Would you vote for Naysayer or Triforium? Write that down. You might break the tie.
SPEAKER_03We I think we, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00We are. We're almost through. We're gonna we're gonna have the the unveiling.
SPEAKER_03Sorry.
SPEAKER_00Uh, next bit of news, really cool, that just dropped at OGT. This is Agonorsa Leaf History in a Box. I love this project. This is the full Supreme Leaf like catalog, all 10 different sizes in one single box. Supreme Leaf continues to be my favorite blend from Agonorsa. They launched, like announced this at PCA, and it's now here at OGT. Every single Vitola that came through for Supreme Leaf for Agonorsa Leaf is in this box. I think it's really cool.
SPEAKER_03That's pretty amazing.
SPEAKER_00It is. We're we're talking about samplers tonight. We're talking about construction samplers. This is a killer sampler.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And uh, if there's one thing we know about like Agonorsa, and it's that classic like Cuban-esque Crowho 99. Supreme Leaf is so special because it's that like high priming, it's their Supreme Leaf. So I think it's really cool when companies do this. We saw Black Work Studio do it with like Boombox with uh some of the other stuff. So I think it's really cool. Yeah, super exciting. And then finally, what we're smoking tonight, last bit of news is that congratulations to uh Valakari, 10 years factory. Uh, what do you think of this cigar so far?
SPEAKER_03I am picking up some fresher notes as we get further in. Um you're gonna laugh at me because this is another really weird one. Um but you know, in California Adventure at Disneyland, the orange pine when you smell it. Yes, when you're okay, so there's a specific smell that has become like so significant in my life for some reason. Because I if I smell it, I'm like, oh my gosh, it's like that weird ride. It was a ride called Soaring Over California, where you would go on this like thing and it would go through like an IMAX type theater and show like flying footage of different places in California. But there's this one spot where it smelled like pine and oranges, yeah, orange groves, yeah. And I got the the the smell as a flavor note. See that uh right as I hit the second third.
SPEAKER_00There is like a dark orange, like chocolate orangey, citrusy thing going on.
SPEAKER_03Yes, without but a little bit of something fresh, like like pine or something, yeah. And so yeah, maybe it's eucalyptus, but I uh yeah, I'm happy to note that the second third tastes a little bit like Sorn over California, the discontinued ride in California Adventure at Disneyland in Anaheim.
SPEAKER_00I think we need to tell Nimmer at Valkari and be like, here's here's your tagline. Smoke the cigar.
SPEAKER_02Smoke the cigar.
SPEAKER_00You'll be in the happiest place on earth. It smokes like the happiest place on earth.
SPEAKER_02That won't get you in trouble at all with the executives of Disney.
SPEAKER_00Or or like smoke this cigar. There's no waiting in line. But I mean, hey, it's it's a heck of a way to all right.
SPEAKER_02We've got we'll hold up, we gotta go back. Okay here.
SPEAKER_00So Daniel Frazier says Bruno.
SPEAKER_03Bruno.
SPEAKER_00Uh we got Toby saying Bruno. I yes, we got Randy saying Naysayer. RJ saying RJ Naysayer, my cigar of the year so far.
SPEAKER_03Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Uh Daniel just jumped in, says Black Label Trading Company, Triforium. And then saying also Daniel Fraser saying macabre is my number one with Bruno the second. Nice.
SPEAKER_03All right.
SPEAKER_00Uh Randy saying canes are up three to one. There you go. Perfect. And Jason is saying definitely naysayer.
SPEAKER_03So where are we at?
SPEAKER_00I think Naysayer took it.
SPEAKER_03All right.
SPEAKER_00So I did not see that coming. I didn't see that coming. No, I like Naysayer too.
SPEAKER_03I think it's it's it was a tricky lineup for sure.
SPEAKER_00So here's our Father's Day sampler that the ultimate sampler to give to the dad.
SPEAKER_03Yes, bring it out.
SPEAKER_00So, number one, we've got porcelain for your Connecticut smoother, but still quite a kick to it. We've got porcelain from Black Label Trading Company. Cigar number two in this pack is the Goldie Grace by Cigar Clowns and Shafield Cigar Collection. Number three, we have the Three Kingdoms Habano from uh Stolen Throne Cigars. Number four, the Warhead 12 from Espinoza. And number five, Naysayer from Stallone Cigars. That's a solid five pack.
SPEAKER_04I like it.
SPEAKER_00It's yeah, no, RJ's straight up fire sampler. It is so tomorrow. Check out OGT. You may just see this amongst several other Father's Day things. Uh now, of course, as we came down to those exclusives at the end, uh, very small, limited amount of these uh available. So that's why you see more scarcity, but they are really good cigars, and I will say uh it's just been really humbling and awesome to see those exclusives get such high praise, high response, and also shout out to all the blenders who made those cigars. Yes, they just completely been able to work with some really amazing people on this, so and I think like we've we've done I think five or six collaborations with Stallone, and I think to this day, Midnight Ride and Naysayer are my two favorite projects we've done with them. Absolutely. Tony's a genius, he is and he did a great job. So um, before we uh come to the end here, though, we have a picture to share, which is a really cool photo off of our Facebook group in our Facebook uh community. This comes from Eric Colvard. Uh taking a snapshot of his mail call, that is a killer lineup. You've got the El Mago in there, some really awesome Stallone cigars, as always, and then all three sizes of the macabre. As Daniel was saying, this is his cigar of the year. I don't know. I go back and forth between which size I like more. Do you have a favorite size?
SPEAKER_03You did this to me last time. I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it seems like Corona Gorda shit.
SPEAKER_03I think Corona Gorda is probably the one that I've I've smoked the most.
SPEAKER_00It is hard because I love them all on different occasions. For some reason, I continue to go back to the Robusto the most. So that might have to be the win. Yeah. Jason's saying awesome Father's Day gift, hint hint, family. There you go. And happy Father's Day to all fathers out there. Yes. Happy Father's Day.
SPEAKER_03Happy Father's Day.
SPEAKER_00And that's the thing is at least if you're trying to get a gift, cigars, whiskey, these are tend to be easy fallbacks to go with. And I remember certain cigars I was introduced to from Father's Day presents that you got me. One of them was the League of Bravada 9.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Many, many years ago. I've never tried it.
SPEAKER_04Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00That was a Father's Day gift. Uh, Pappy Van Winkle was one of them.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That was another one. Uh, I remember you picked me up a Padron 1926. There's been some really good ones. In fact, I also have uh here, if you can pass me that cutter.
SPEAKER_04All right.
SPEAKER_00So you guys have probably seen me use the XO Sycar XO cutter on a lot of our videos. To this day, it's my favorite cutter. In fact, I've got three in the studio here because they discontinued them. So I was like, I gotta stock them while they're still available. Uh, this orange one is beautiful. Shout out to Shirley Allen. She actually gifted this to me before we left, so it's our main studio cutter. But you gave me an XO cutter, I believe, 12 years ago, 12, 13 years ago. Still cuts.
SPEAKER_02Still kicking, yep.
SPEAKER_00And it's kind of like the one that I take on vacations, but I keep like locked away because it's special. It's seen many cigars, yeah, many cigars. But that's a great Father's Day present.
SPEAKER_03All right, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I guess too that that's if you're not a hundred percent sure of someone's um flavor profiles that they prefer, you could also always go with really good cigar tools and that's and here's a question for you because you're the one who has to normally buy the gifts for Father's Day for the most part.
SPEAKER_04Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00Um before this shop, OGT cigars, I was still very, very obsessed with cigars for solid like four years, growing the collection. How did you go about buying cigars for me? Like, what would you pick out? How would that work?
SPEAKER_03A lot of the time you would say, Oh, I want to try this, and then I would write it down in a secret note on my phone, which is a good way to get presents for anyone. If you see if you're out shopping with them or you're talking about something they're into and they say that, then you just write it down on a note in your phone, and then when it gets close to their birthday or Father's Day or whatever, you go back to your note. Okay, you have a master list basically. There's been times where I've walked into a shop or before. Now it's pretty much like it gets it gets a little tricky.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_03Like when you have a whole humidor at your fingertips, boils down to some kind of exclusive thing that I'm like, I can't sell it. But um, no, sometimes I would walk in, but then I would have to kind of like prove that I knew what I was talking about before I could get you something that would be close to those things. So a lot of the time I would just list off these are his favorites currently. What would you suggest? Like when you were into drinking scotch more, I would be like, Oh, well, he likes I like scotches and he likes the LaFroigne and he likes you know, and then they'd be able to narrow it down for me a little bit.
SPEAKER_00And to this day, you have never purchased any cigar for me that was like among the acid or flavored or anything that you were talking about, that kind of generic, like, here's a cigar. Oh, thanks.
SPEAKER_03I think based on the things you would say, I I I knew what to steer clear of, too.
SPEAKER_00True. Um, yeah, so that's definitely uh a uh a way of going about it for sure. Jason says, Great seeing you guys. I'll rewatch tomorrow. You as well. Thanks. Um Randy says, Smart wife, she's very smart.
SPEAKER_03I'm pretty smart.
SPEAKER_00Um, closing remarks on this amazing Valakari cigar. It is very, I would say, complex for San Andreas. Um, you get the you get the spicier notes up front in the first third. I still got a lot of espresso, but then it moved into like that dark chocolate avenue. Yeah, that that orange, I knew exactly where you were going with because I definitely felt it there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, there was a it's it's a really clear note. Um, there's a lot of good transition. I I actually feel like I smoked this one slower than I normally smoke. Um, so I am interested to you know figure out what the last third tastes like because I'm still not fully there, I don't think. But um yeah, I like it. There's good transitions. There is, um, there's a lot of complexity, it's very clean, which is a much for you, clean finish, clean finish, clean finish, not noity.
SPEAKER_00Um, but awesome. Scott Nunn says to you all. Thank you guys so much for joining us tonight. Thank you for being here. And assisting in creating the ultimate five for five years.

SPEAKER_00We had to make that happen because of our guest for the first time ever on the OGT Cigars podcast. We are gonna have master blender of Espinoza cigars, not Eric Espinoza, but Hector Alfonso. This is the gentleman that legitimately blends all the stuff for Espinoza, the Warhead, the 601, the Independence Day, all these things. He is gonna be on the show next Wednesday. That's when we're gonna have it. It's gonna be a fantastic show. So I highly encourage you guys check that out.
SPEAKER_03Please join us for that one.
SPEAKER_00It's gonna be a really exciting show. Yes. So thank you guys so much for joining us tonight, hanging out with us, and we will see you next week on Wednesday.
