Welcome to Unfit for Radio with Jakers. He is me. And you just cracked open our season two bonus episode. This one's special. We're calling it the Reflection Session. A look back at two seasons, 35 episodes. The chaos, the laughs, and the moments that somehow made it on air. And a few that almost had us tearing up. We're fired up for this one though. All right. Well, it's gonna be fun. We've had 35. This is number 36, but we've had 35 episodes, Ray. There's a lot. There's a lot to cover. What should we cover first? Should we cover the guests, the funny parts, the bloopers that didn't make it?

What should we cover? I'm ready to start with episode one, topic one. Too smart or not too smart. Okay, let's jump right in. Episode one. Um, what I remember about that episode, you were trying to talk me into getting a smartphone. And here we are two episodes. I mean, sorry, two seasons later, and I still don't have one, and I don't plan to get one. And one of the main reasons is because I don't want to talk to my phone like you do.

Yeah, uh, that was a funny one. Um, the smartphone, uh yeah. And then the hot dog. I remember the hot dog one.

That was uh that was a funny that was the funny one because I did not expect that question. You threw that at me. It's the hot dog a sandwich, and of course it's a sandwich, it's got a top and a bottom. So, and anything that's in it's got something in the middle, so that makes it a sandwich. I guess I know a lot of sandwiches. I could name a lot ham, bologna, chicken, meatball. I mean, there's a hundred varieties of sandwiches. How was your sandwich earlier? Was it good? Oh, it was very good. Thank you. Thank you for supplying that. I appreciate it. I took Ray over to uh Chiba Hut for the first time. Oh boy, that was an experience. And that was a big sandwich. I had to save half of it for later. You got the whole blunt, didn't you? Yes, I did.

Thank you. All right, well, uh one, uh too smart or not too smart. I thought it was fun, but I didn't expect us to carry on. I thought it was just gonna be a pilot episode and everybody was gonna talk us out of not doing anymore. That didn't happen.

No, it didn't. I was surprised that we survived even episode one. I didn't know if we'd get past three cities or three listeners.

Yeah, it is our our following is amazing. We're truly blessed. Um, but it was a fun episode, Ray. Um, we we kind of knew what we were doing, but we kind of didn't. We we didn't even we didn't even have mics at the time. We we borrowed a couple mics for that first episode.

But the second episode from there on out, we started making it our own once people once people said, you know, they were interested and they had a love and and appreciation for it.

Yeah, we had a a rough script, but we kind of winged it too. So that was that's what makes it fun. It's when we don't always know what we're doing. Being spontaneous. Yes, I like that.

Yeah, and then Ray keeps being a weirdo and getting uh trying to influence me to wear these compression shorts that he loves to take out for a ride every once in a while. Yeah. Hey, guess what? What's that? I'm wearing those today under my Levi's. Oh my god. TMI, dude.

Some things are best left unknown. I almost will have to make exposed, but I didn't do that today. Maybe next episode I can do that. Yeah, we'll have to get a new studio couch if you do that.

No, I don't think sanity. And then uh, so so uh yeah. Then we went into what episode two? Unlikely decisions?

Yes. That was a fun one. Anything you want to share? Um, yes, we were talked about the moon trip, and I don't know how that ever came up. I don't remember that. My it's my contention that we never went to the moon, and that shows in the official NASA photographs. If you study those like I do from the lighting perspective, it's quite obvious that uh we never went there. Those those are all faked. You really think we never went to the moon? And we never did. No, those were all done in the studio. I could tell by the lighting. I have my doubts.

For sure. I have my doubts. Even now, like when they say that these astronauts just came back from blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, or they're stuck somewhere. It's like, I have my doubts. I don't know. Yeah, that wasn't what that one was a fun one. That one stood out to me. What else you got about that one?

Uh, well, I made a note here, something about purple compression shorts. I think that was the episode where I brought you some, and but I've never seen you wear those, so I guess I probably never will.

Uh, for one, my uh all of my parts didn't fit inside of it, so it didn't work out. And for two, yeah. If if things are that tight, like I've like I've mentioned before, I'm not giving nobody a free show. So I'm a married man, and I'm not supposed to just uh go out and look like I'm uh I'm I don't even want to say that place, but I don't want to look like I'm I'm shopping at one of those big mega retailers on uh Black Friday and just letting it all hang out.

Oh, I I know what story you're talking about, but we won't mention that here. Thank you so much. Oh, yeah, it's very convenient. Yes, I understand you. Yes. Yeah. Okay. Well, shall we move on to the next episode? Let's go. Um, teacher life. I like the part about the tech deck because um I knew what he was talking about because I was in um I had I was teaching school at the time, and the kids had those. And so I remember those being a toy and the kids putting it in the middle of the state.

But you had that doll, didn't you?

You said oh the uh we talked about the uh damn doll. Yeah, the damn doll. Only right now it's called a what what do we call it today? Um, I don't know. Troll doll. Yes. Today the kids call it a troll doll, but the original name was a damn doll, and you couldn't say that in school, so um we couldn't call it that.

Teacher life was fun. Mr. Sam Moya, he's a great teacher. Um, he's he's planning on coming back on another episode soon. Um, then we had after that, we had uh fresh tracks with our man, Ronnie Cash. Though I don't know why, but I'm really influenced and inspired by like some of those musical um based episodes. And when we're talking, you know, to Ronnie Cash, or we're we're talking to Hunter, or we're talking to Rich, or we're talking to Eric, or we're talking to, you know, all these people, poetics who's been on here and we we've talked music, those I don't know why. I just I get a different type of fire. I love all the episodes because they're all like individually different, but some of those musical episodes, I just I find them so entertaining, just just from my point of view. I I love those episodes.

Well, I shouldn't say this because it'll make me sound like I'm a party pooper or something, but um I those are not my favorites because I'm not a musician and I'm not a music person. I don't listen to contemporary music of any type, so those kind of leave me hanging with big question marks. Huh? What? Who are you talking about? What's this? And and I'm I get lost in the in the conversation. So I um but that's okay. It's okay because we have to have something for everybody on here. Not everything uh uh appeals to everyone, and it gives you a little bit of a break too.

It gives you some time off, and I don't I'm not I'm not wearing you out.

Right. Oh yeah, because at my age I would wear out real easy. So um I I'm only on about half the episodes, and that works out very well for me.

Yeah, that was I I really like that. Um then we have uh the next one after that was the human resources with Christine. Oh my gosh, that one right there was hilarious for me because she was telling stories. You can go back and check them out personally, but she was telling stories about like coworkers, employees that she has to basically discipline because she works in HR. One of them was trying to staple their boss's head to the freaking wall. Oh my gosh. And then she's going in there and has to like interview these people, and the person still has like the staple wounds coming out of their forehead. And I'm like, wouldn't the person just get fired? Like, what are you counseling them about?

Yeah, that was uh an unusual episode. I really enjoyed that one. The stories were um she had not something that I expected, and um, those were those were great stories.

Oh, she had some stories of all kinds, some some wild, some interesting, some adventurous, some yeah, some very interesting stories coming from a HR perspective. That was great. Then we're going into episode seven. Highly questionable.

And um, I think it's because I said some strange things here that uh Jacers wasn't quite sure about. What's that? Well, I talked about my talking cat.

Yeah, I had a little white cat. Um, she's since passed, unfortunately. Yes, but uh one still talk to you now that she's talking about. No, she doesn't talk and she doesn't come see us. But um one time she was walking from the uh family room down the hall, and my wife was sitting out there, and on the way back down the bedroom, the cat said, bye, bye for now. And my wife could hardly believe what she heard, but she heard it.

Yeah, she would say some other things. Um, you can go back in episode uh seven and check out Ray's talking cat.

Oh, we also talked about the our Waymo ride with the driverless car. That was fun, but it was also scary because believe it or not, the backseat went faster than the front seat. And I was I was terrified.

Yeah, we uh we were taking a little production trip, us and the fellas, and uh we we couldn't get out of this event because this event was so packed that if if we left our car, I mean, if we took our car, we wouldn't have been able to come back in. Like it was it was that type of event. There was thousands and thousands and thousands of people there. So we needed to go around the corner and get some food, and there was no way for us to take our vehicles. So we took a Waymo and we went over and got in the Waymo and went cruising through all these crowds of people, and it was it was pretty crazy. Once the raymo got out on the road, Ray thought that uh the backseat apparently was going faster than the front seat. I don't know how that's possible, but uh that that I guess the Waymos are so magical, you know, they can make things happen.

Yeah, you know, they're all electronic and digital, so I must have made it happen that way. But I tell you that back seat, it was just moving along.

Oh yeah, they're they're pretty interesting, a little, a little creepy, a little crazy. I mean, they got their stories nowadays, but hey, it's what it's what you make of it. It's today's technology. And then we have episode eight. Episode eight, we had Reg, Reggie Holmes. Uh he's a very, very talented guy. There's so much to say about him. Like I could I could talk about him for you know 10 minutes about what these episodes are about, uh, eight and nine. But we had him on, and it was it was such a such a magical time. He he um he shared he shared with us some real knowledge with um he working with R. Kelly, I mean, personally, uh then even his um time, you know, finding God and and and sermon uh building, like his church at the time was really influencing him to to lead uh sermons. And so not only from a worship leading point, but now he's you know delivering the message and what he experienced and what he shared. That was a very, very good episode uh eight and nine. He's also coming back soon. Uh Reg. Ray, did you know? No, I didn't know that. Tell me about it. Yeah, Reg. Uh, so he was in eight and nine, like I just mentioned, but he's also coming back for episode 38 and episode 42. They're going to be very, very, very great, fun, uh, planned episodes. Um, we're recording them soon, so stay tuned. Our uh season three is gonna be amazing.

Episode 10, oddly educated with Mr. Ray, and we brought the teacher Sam back in. I actually have some odd uh facts about some of these, but Ray, you you want to share your information first of all. Look at my my stuff.

Yes, I have uh a story. Uh we talked about uh field trips on that episode, and I forgot that I had this story about a field trip and something that happened, and I will recount that at this time. Um I was teaching third grade and we had a field trip scheduled for the butterfly garden, which is in uh northeast Scottsdale.

Oh, wow.

And we went and we start off with an IMAX movie where they show you a giant movie with about butterflies migrating uh around the uh across the country and all that. And during the movie, somebody came and got me and said, Hey, you got a phone call? I thought, oh great, who'd be calling me at the movie? I got down to the telephone and it was the principal from the school asking, Yes. She said, Is so-and-so student with you? And I said, No, she wasn't there this morning when I took attendance. She said, Well, she's missing. Mom doesn't know where she is.

No way.

Yes. So she went off to school and she never made it there. So um I went back to the movie and I found out later that because she had to pay a dollar or whatever it was, she didn't have the money. She went and hid in the restroom. She made it to school, but she was hiding in the restroom.

That is terrible.

And it was sad that I would have paid her the I would have paid her way in if I had known that. But she was so embarrassed. She was so embarrassed that she didn't have the money that she um she hid and didn't let anybody know. So um That is terrible. Yeah. So she missed a good um field trip about butterflies, and we got to go out to the garden and sit and have them land on us, and it was it was just a lot of fun. So she missed out on a lot, and I would have paid her way if I had known.

So um my uh my behind-the-scenes information for episode 10. Oh, what's that? Oddly Educated. Uh Oddly Educated was actually written and scheduled to be episode three, but we had some behind-the-scenes um technical issues where not necessarily technical, but scheduling and whatnot where um certain people couldn't attend at the same time. So we uh actually had to pivot. So number 10 didn't come out as number three. Um number three, we just went with uh Sam for Teacher's Life, and that's when um we were able we were able to later then schedule the oddly educated with uh both you and Sam for episode ten. So there that was a little behind the scenes. Three was uh episode ten was actually supposed to be three, and then also episode four um actually episode twelve was supposed to be four, so we will get to episode twelve shortly, but yeah, that's another that's another little fun detail. Episode twelve was supposed to be episode four.

Oh, that I had forgotten all that, those little tidbits. So thanks for uh reminding us of that. That's uh I I always like behind the scenes information, and I would I'll put something else in here now if you don't mind if our listeners know about it. Sure. We don't always record these in order.

Uh episode 11 wasn't even planned, like uh a lot of these weren't planned, but episode 11 um came from Doug's heart. Doug is the one who's featured in that episode, and he is a big, big, huge uh fan of the show. He was actually in episode five, food sounds, which was I think did we miss that one?

Yeah, we didn't, we didn't uh sorry we do that one.

Doug is in episode five, food sounds, and that one right there is a fun one because uh episode five, we talk about food. You know, in general, his his wife is a is a chef, and so some of the things that him and his wife and family um eat on a uh scheduled basis, a scheduled basis, it's funny because they have everything so planned out over there, Ray. It is amazing. Like I I love that. I love that lifestyle, but uh Doug was telling me some people make fun of him and think it's a little a little overwhelming. But uh Doug, food sounds, we were talking about food, and then we were also talking about sounds, we were talking about music, uh, music that inspires Doug over the years, um, like uh bucket list, uh playlists, the music that you would love to hear before you would die, and you know, so that one was really good, number five, but Doug. So now that you gotta know who Doug is from number five, Doug in number 11 had the idea that since you know so many people have listened to the show over 11 episodes at that point, it would be nice to get to know Jakers, the guy who's interviewing everybody.

So Doug from his heart had the idea to interview me, just like everybody else. And that was a very, very interesting take being on the other side.

uh you know where where the guests sit specifically and dug in my chair that was a very different take but i tried to uh i tried to fulfill the audience and dough's you know uh dreams and and walk that out and i actually had a lot of fun i almost learned some things about myself like nobody's asked me that before and whatnot and it was just a very fun episode behind the mic episode 11 i like that one because uh even though i knew most of the information that uh from from us being friends for so many years but um i did learn some new things and i thought that was a very fun episode yeah i i i enjoy all of these episodes they're all uniquely different like recipes and babies and you know whatnot they're all fun the next one was uh episode 12 outside thoughts it was with Ray and myself Ray you have any you have any outside thoughts for you remember well I remember we were talking about where we set our thermostats at home for uh comfort and um I was telling you that during the summer I usually set mine 76 77 and you were telling me you set yours at some ridiculous like 68 or 69 and and I think I would freeze to death if I was ever there.

Uh yeah I whenever you do come over I have to I Stephanie makes fun of me she's like you don't adjust it for anybody else but I'm like hey Ray's a little older and oh yeah thanks yeah I am older so I do get cold sometimes yeah so I I accommodate you I try to I try to be friendly whenever you uh do come over to my house um but the studio the studio has to be cold you know for the equipment they say right yes for the equipment yes yeah yes uh episode 13 was an amazing episode it was um it was inspiring off of miracles things that have happened in your life um from a faith base uh you we we have experienced some things in our lives that are undescribable without faith uh for me personally not many know but I was born 95% deaf in both ears I could not hear nothing Ray What really nothing oh my goodness I can't imagine growing up that way I remember some memories of that and then I unbelievably to this day I will never forget what the feeling was like when I got my miracle but I don't want to dip too much into that because that's such a magical episode that you should go and experience it for yourself.

Episode 13 Miracles with Terry and Ray um I did want to uh remind people that uh have from who may have listened to that and those that haven't listened to it that I talk in there about my heart surgery and it's a miracle that I'm alive and here and my wife also had a medical miracle and it's a wonder that she's alive. So um we're both alive because of of a miracle. We're we're so thankful.

I think Linda's had uh multiple miracles. I mean just knowing her and some of the things that she's gone through she's yeah she's a miracle she's a miracle walker for sure. Yes but Terry um the guest in that episode uh Terry that joined Ray and myself is my mother um and the reason why I brought my mother is because there's some things that I can share um going through the miracle itself from my point of view being younger but to have my mom there who can actually represent the adult um and the parent view on you know what it was like experiencing it as as her child and then what the doctors are telling her and whatnot. And so it was just very important for me to um to have my mom on. It was it was it was a really cool time. So episode 13 if you're interested in that one. Next up was episode 14 Gain layers with Ryan Chandler. Ryan Chandler is a uh producer in the valley and he's done work with us um helping us in the in the past with the podcast and stuff like that he's gotten a little bit busy now that he's getting ready to get married and uh he's he's started a new job and and whatnot he's you know he's doing some new things and that's okay and so we uh we congratulate Ryan on all of his um on all of his future things in his next next chapter and we thank him for his work with this show but um Ryan was in number 14 and that was um getting to know him and what it's like being a producer from his point of view and making you know making relationships with artists and and uh building um building his uh dog journey and um also just you know his experiences uh growing up um he's a triplet he's a he's a pretty cool interesting kid um I don't mean a kid in a disrespectful way i'm I mean he's a he's a young man he's a very interesting young man and uh yeah congratulations on your on your marriage Ryan um it was fun he's also had another episode coming up next one is episode 15 heart and faders with Eric Johnson Eric Johnson is the music um studio manager over at uh Grand Canyon University you know where that's at Ray Yeah I know where that is uh 35th Avenue and um Camelbeck. Yeah and so uh Eric and I have done some work in the past specifically during COVID we worked a lot uh hand in hand together on a few projects and I thought it would be fun to have him on and uh you know enjoy some Eric time and Eric from Heart and Faders he was in episode 15 and 16 Sound Machine um those two episodes they were great they were recorded back to back um same day they were great episodes um he even shared he even shared a lot of music coming from Grand Canyon um if you listen to it he shared like some music coming from the Grand Collective um he shared some music um from his students over the years um it was really really good really good Ray and then we had our season finale of season one our season finale of season one was uh thankful was thankful yes it was and um that was a uh a somber one it was a joyous one but it was also more somber because of all the the things that we talked about there. Yeah and we had just started something and we didn't even know really how to close it. So we were celebrating but we didn't know how to celebrate because we were kind of upset and sad that we were ending it but it was over the holidays and we had my birthday and we had Thanksgiving and we had all these you know uh new years and everything coming up and it was just a very busy time and for us to take the time off and spend it with our families I think met more.

Life is short and so spend it with our families we can always come back and record and um we even actually did our um behind the more behind the scenes information we even did our uh first uh episode of season two in December when we were supposed to be taking time off we did it on December 16th right before Christmas and everything it was fun um but episode 17 was the first episode that I was able to get my wife finally on the program I can't believe it 17 was Stephanie's first episode that was fun I enjoyed having her there we yeah we talked about her uh several different uh episodes of thankfulness and then uh yeah so we we went into episode 18 season two episode 18 that was our first uh season of see or first episode of season two rather it was 26 and two 26 for the year 2026 because it came out january 1st and two for the season that was really fun we covered a lot of interesting stuff Ray I don't know if you want to hit it yeah there were a couple things in there I remember we talked about uh some you we all as we usually do we had some humor and we talked about apartments were terribly misnamed because they should be called togetherments because they're not apart they're kind of smooshed together and they should be called togetherments and I thought that I thought that was a new name that we should come up with.

I didn't even think about I didn't I forgot about that actually and then we talked of some about something else that was misnamed and that was rush hour because you get on any of the freeways around the Phoenix area and you sit there. You're barely moving along so everybody's in a rush to go slow. Maybe that's what it is. So anyway those were the two things that stood out from that episode that I thought were hilarious.

I think I had Asher oh you know what I had Asher on 17 that was our uh that was a fun one because that was he was telling dad that happy birthday for the thankful episode that we were doing. I believe that was the first episode he was on wasn't it yeah Asher was on episode 17 I I can't believe it and he sounds so different. He's gonna be on an episode coming up right now um actually at the end of this episode he's coming up at the end of this episode because this one is scheduled to come out for Father's Day and he had a special Father's Day message. So if you guys want to hear Asher he'll be at the end of this episode no I can't wait to hear it. So what which one was that that we just covered that was the 18 yeah and then we went to 19 19 was Toon Talking with Hunter Ramstedt and Ryan Chandler. Ryan Chandler again is from episode 14 and I already covered a lot with Ryan he he's a great kid great guy.

I don't remember what all we talked about but he yeah I he was a great guy and I I'm sorry that he moved and uh I didn't get to talk to him anymore.

Yeah that that was a that was a fun episode we did a zoom call Ryan and I actually zoomed Hunter and Hunter was in Washington and uh so there was a little bit of time difference but uh we had to do it at night and it was I I think that I think episode 19 was the first official like absolute it was nighttime nighttime it was like after six or seven o'clock at night and that episode specifically went almost until like nine or ten o'clock it was it was very late by the time Ryan was leaving the studio he was like oh my gosh I'm so tired I gotta go it was fun um and then yeah after Ryan left I think Hunter and I stayed on the zoom call for like another hour after that and it was off it was off the record but him and I just after that episode that episode was almost two hours long and Hunter and I talked for another hour hour and a half after after that episode it was we really were uh gelling and getting together over some uh old time stuff and uh memories you know probably should have recorded that and then made another episode out of it in hindsight yeah yeah but you didn't know it was gonna happen so no I and some of some things when you're talking freely you just want to talk freely and yeah an after fact you can go back and edit what you don't want to hear out but not everybody always opens up when they know that the recorder's going so that's why some of those conversations behind the scenes are also meaningful and and priceless and and also uh what's that called confidential there we go that's the confidential word I was looking for episode 20 we're going into that was crazy noise with Doug Doug and Ray Ray and Doug was cutting it up that was fun I enjoyed having Doug there and I can't wait to have him come back and we do another episode that that was funny.

Oh my gosh are you gonna you and Doug were talking about my genie coming out of my magic lamp and I to this day I still don't understand where the where the comedy was because I because you okay you don't understand no you were sitting here telling a joke and you're saying yeah so I have this lamp and I was rubbing the lamp and my my magic lantern that I was rubbing the genie came out of it.

And so we started laughing because we're like oh my God Ray has a magic lamp and he's rubbing it and there's a genie like you just ended up with so much information that it just sounds funny when you put it in context like that. Okay. And then you completely like ghosted us. You're like yeah but I'm gonna tell you the story again but I'm gonna leave the lamp out and I'm like that doesn't make no sense because now the whole entire thing that made the joke so funny you want to take it out. Oh and so then yeah your joke wasn't funny okay never mind okay I I get it now it took me how how many how many episodes to understand that that was episode 20 and we're in what 36 or something yeah it took me a while okay 16 who yeah so uh Ray rubbing his magic lantern with a genie inside of it that was hilarious crazy noise uh featuring Doug Doug has been in man Doug was in episode 5 11 20 23 and 30 wow yeah he's our extra special guest he's he's uh he's definitely a special guy around here what do we got next that was uh 20 that was 20 what what happened in 21 you know what 21 is it was the first time that we decided to do something different actually that's wrong we always do something different but it was the first time that we decided to tackle a health based episode now for health purposes or or legal purposes um this was just for informational purposes only you should always seek your healthcare professional for you know all of that legal um advice I always do that I don't take information from uh a a a blog like we have but we had Becky Van Buren for the first time joining us in episode 21 under the weather and she is a family nurse practitioner based in Phoenix Arizona and uh she's a real a real doctor or a real nurse practitioner that you can go and visit.

Um and uh yeah she was sharing her her real experiences um in in that episode I think she shared some some uh crazy stories I think it was about I don't even want to go into it no let's not go into that one that I remember that one that was funny that one yes if you if you're daring to to check out what I'm referring to episode 21 and uh it refers to an outhouse episode outhouse jay john whatever you want to call it one of those porta potties yeah one of those episode 22 Ray unqualified research I don't know what we researched but um I know it was unqualified it must have been the only story that I had was when I worked at uh an event for Super Bowl 35 when that was in Phoenix oh yeah yeah and uh I I I told the story there though that I just worked uh I did some audio work and uh when the uh event was done there was a uh sign over on the side and I ran over and got that so I I have a sign from Super Bowl 35 that I have in my collection now.

I think that was the episode where you and I both were sharing our Super Bowl experiences where you worked a Super Bowl gig at one point in your life and I worked a Super Bowl gig one time in my life. Yeah I think so yeah that was that was fun for both of us if you want to check that out that was episode 22 episode 23 again we were trying to do something different hoping the audience would love it and they did you know people respond. So uh Mr. Doug Doug was back for episode 23 and Ray I know that you're you're not always you know fully into it and sometimes I'm not always into it myself but uh Doug thought it would be fun to bring our fans into a sport mode and so uh since the Super Bowl was coming up there was some things that you know him and I tackled and and and covered and you know he wanted to know how much of my knowledge uh expanded over the games and whatnot and so uh sport mode was really fun with with Mr.

Okay so you were there because I just looked this up as you were talking so uh sport mode we recorded that on the 14th and that was the same day that we recorded unqualified research we recorded sport mode first and then unqualified research so that makes sense why you were there because you were there for the next episode yes I was even though again like we said we don't always uh record these in order so we recorded episode 23 before episode 22 the magic of production I know isn't that neat what we can do yeah yeah so sport mode was great and then 2024 did you listen to 24 Ray what was 24 let's let me consult my list here and see what 24 was 20 24 is the parenting autism oh we had McKenzie I remember her and she had a tough life as I remember and Stephanie and Stephanie was there Stephanie and McKenzie McKenzie um is a parent of three adult children two of whom have autism one is a nonverbal autism um she has um went through a lot with her um young young men and um it's a very meaningful episode like she the experiences that she shared I I went uh a couple times through some tissues through that episode because yeah it had me moisturized in the eyeballs if you know what I mean. It uh it was very it was very touching she uh the things that God put on people sometimes is just amazing. She has a great heart um her boys are are amazing young young kids and uh she even shares some things in there Ray that I didn't get it into fully um so like her kids her two young autistic kids who are in their 20s I believe they actually work one of um one of them I think is like a chef at a restaurant and so even though you know he has autism he's still out there working and stuff like that.

Yes yeah so I I kind of barely tackled that and then the other one also works too and I just I find that so amazing but uh her days are so detailed like if there's you know one hiccup in the road it throws everything off and there's repercussions and it's it's sad but it was just very uh meaningful to hear her story and uh hopefully she comes back in the uh in the future again and gives us some updates and whatnot on uh how everything's going yes as I understand it people with autism have to have a uh very precise and set schedule and if it's off by anything or if anything changes they don't know what to do because they're they're so into a schedule.

Her days are so detailed and then even you know talking to her she's it's one of those parents worries that you even without having a kid with autism you always wonder like how's my kids gonna be after after my life is done like it's say you know say I die how how's that gonna affect my kids and she she even goes into that on how detailed her days are and one of her big concerns is when she's not here no more.

The thing that stands out to me on this one is when you went into your long explanation about guacamole, and there's a special kind you make without guacamole or something. I without the avocados, and I thought, you can't make guacamole without avocados.

So my wife uh takes us to like this taco place, and they have this uh guacamole whip, and apparently there's a yeah, there's no avocado in it. They make it with like these tomatillos, which Ray was trying to tell the audience. Some of the audience doesn't know what tomatillos are, Ray? Yeah, they're little green tomatoes. Okay. They're like a peppery green tomato, something like that. You can Google it, I'm sure. But uh, yeah, so there's they make them with like tomatillos, and I think uh like a squash, a zucchini or something like that, and the way that they whip it together, it tastes just like a guacamole whip. But when you actually uh ask and inquire about what's in it, there's no avocado.

It's and then you put on the the guacamole and sour cream and tomatoes, and oh, it just yeah, it's just wonderful.

One thing I used to make at home until my wife can't eat it anymore is um nachos with the cheese crisp, and you put on the the seasoned hamburger and you put on the the tomatoes and the lettuce and the and the um chili peppers and you put on the uh black olives and sour cream and guacamole. By the time you get done, it weighs about 10 pounds, and it's it's really it's really good. Oh, like a taco salad? Yeah, like it. Oh, your you and your taco salad. Uh well I uh we didn't get to that one yet, but that one's that's that's a good one. That's a good story, too.

Oh, yeah. Food is delicious. I love food. Um, so that was 25. 26. We had ruckus among us with Abby. Abby is my niece, and she wanted to join Uncle's podcast. And boy, it was a blast. We even brought my my uh, I almost said my grandpa, but not my grandpa. It's we brought my dad on the program, Abby's grandpa, and we had a blast. We um behind the scenes, we made it sound like it was a telephone call, but really it was not a telephone call. He was actually here in studio, and uh, we just wanted to pull off a funny way of like getting him in and getting him out and stuff like that without it being like you know kind of obvious.

I I love my dad. It was great to have my dad and my mom on. My mom was able to come on on episode 13, and then to have my dad do his little cameo in uh episode 26. That was it was fun. It was really fun to have be able to share the program with my with my wife and my niece and my dad and my son. And we just laughed the whole time. And um what I did after we talked about that, I went to Google Earth and I looked up his little town of Willis. Um his village? His little village uh uh yeah, Willis, Illinois. And um there's really nothing there. As he says in in in the uh episode, it's middle of nowhere and take it left. And it's I looked at a population of 500. I mean, everybody in town knows everybody. I I can't imagine uh a village that small. And they they didn't even have any. They I think they he said they had a grocery store and school. I think that's about all they had. Oh wow.

And something else that struck me, their town was so small they only had a part-time police officer. Ooh, that sounded like the Andy Griffith days. Yeah, and if they needed something when he wasn't available, they had to call the the town next door and say, hey, we need police over here. Is that legal though? Because he's not even legally allowed to enforce law on that. Well, it must be must be countywide. They would have no, it would it would be county, probably. Get a good lawyer, and then this struck me too being a teacher, they had a 20-student school, and his dad was the principal. And there was no girls older than him. No, he couldn't date when he was in high school because there wasn't anybody.

We had a nice story about Waldrug up in uh North Dakota, I believe it was North Dakota, and um it was uh this little well, it was started out as a little tiny roadsides rest area, you know, a zillion years ago, and now it's a great big um tourist trap, I guess you could say it was huge, it was huge.

So uh Linda was here for that episode and that recording that day for uh diabetic living, and that was recorded the same day as Unverified Events, episode 31. And 31 had Stephanie and Asher again, and uh Ray, and Ray was sharing some amazing things that uh happened to him. Um some paranormal activities where he went to a restaurant and the restaurant apparently is no longer there anymore, and some Twilight Zone events.

Yeah, but that those were recorded the same day. Linda was there the same day, but uh we can't pass over. Uh so we were originally talking about diabetic living episode 29, and then episode 30. Episode 30 is a play spin-off of episode it's a play spin-off of episode 13 Miracles. Um it's called Marvelous Wonders. Doug was on the program and he was um helping interview. He actually took he I gave uh Doug the full control of that show, and uh he brought in um someone who he knows named Cassie, and he wanted to interview her based upon her um experiences with having life-saving um transplant um issues that she's walked through. She's had a couple different um organ transplants that uh some were successful, some were not. And uh to have her come on and share her experience. Um it was also a play off of the miracles episode. It was um it was showing how much um her faith and her beliefs got her through her situation that she was going through medically, that some people say that, you know, you should not be alive today. Um people at two years old, people who have this condition at two years old don't survive and she's you know eight, nine, ten years old and she's still living, and they just can't believe it. And so it was just her living through um her story that you know God put her in and sharing it with us. You remember listening to that one, Ray?

Yes, I do. And uh I was uh that was one of those episodes where I I think I I listened to it uh with my mouth wide open because it was just so unbelievable what one person lived through and what she was able to uh gain from that.

Oh yeah, the doctors told her not to have kids, she had kids, the doctors told her don't do this, she did that, the doctors told her don't get married. She got married, the doctor said you're not gonna live, you know, another 10 years. She lived another 30. Like it was just one of those things where she broke all the odds with her um syndrome. And I don't want to give too much of it away, but again, that episode is called Marvelous Wonders, episode 30 with Cassie and Doug. Next up was we got into real quick, but we reversed Unverified Events with Ray, Stephanie, and Asher. That was was again so much fun. Ray covered so much. I think he uh was talking about the times where he was on TV um two or three times. He he was a diva. One of the times he turned it down because he didn't have the time and didn't like the channel and all this and that. And they tried to stop him in Spectrum Mall with his fancy American flag shirt. And yeah, I remember that episode. That episode was fun. You guys gotta check that out.

The one issue that I think we had was uh his mic stand kept falling on him. So uh in the audio, you'll hear a little bit of him like not dropping out, but it sounds slightly muffled as he's talking, and it's him leaning over trying to catch his mic stand from falling over because for whatever reason the boom mic stand, it just didn't like him that day, and it was uh there was a gremlin in it for sure. But yeah, Michael was fun. Um, I was just, you know, I was having fun. He did he annoyed me a little bit, but I was having fun on the air of actually like putting it on and be like, all right, Michael, get out of here. Like I was really like acting it up and putting it on for a moment.

No, sound business with Poetics. And Poetics is a very well-known um producer mostly in the hip-hop, and um there he covers he covers a lot of ground. Um, I don't want to put him in one category because he he's done work with a lot of people. He's done work with KJ52, he's done work with uh Lazy Bone, he's done work with uh Canon, Derek Minor. Um the list goes on and on. He he's had uh some sync music, he's been featured in Hennessy ads, he's been featured in uh I think uh some gaming, some gaming. I'm not good with my gaming, but uh he was he was in a couple of things, and uh you can go look that up in uh episode 34. It's a very now again, I love musical episodes, and I don't know, it's just a musical geek in me. And I just Ray can take, you know, Ray can take a little time off and I'll I'll dip into those and who knows, maybe I'll get some time off and Ray might dip into some stuff in episode three, but yeah, we're gonna keep this, we're gonna keep it fun and and entertaining. Episode 34, I loved it. It was almost a two-hour episode, but it was amazing. We covered a lot of ground on behind behind the scenes on what it's like being a producer and what you should do, what mistakes people are making, and what you should avoid, and you know, terminologies. We covered, we covered a lot. We covered, you know, even trying to make a song with the least amount of hi-hats in it. We covered a lot. Uh, episode 34, amazing. I know it it bores Ray, but it's all right. That's why we brought him in for episode 35, etc.

I liked etc. because it's it was kind of like what's left over that we haven't talked about yet. And um, we started right off with Jakers and his taco salad, and I just laughed and laughed because he was he told this story about this taco salad, and it ended up being not regular size, it was miniature and uh uh yeah, you got to go back and listen to that.

Oh, that one was that apparently that story hit a lot of people. I I've actually some people reached out to me. I got an email from somebody in Japan about that story. She said she listened to that story, she found it so fascinating that somebody could take something so small and uh insignificant as like a meal, like a taco salad, and make it so entertaining. And there she was like, I saw the chip over here in Japan. And I was like, that is just amazing how we, you know, put that together. And that was honestly, when we were recording that episode, we had no idea what we were going to talk about for the cold open. We like to the cold open that we like to come in, talk about something off the wall and break the ice. And so uh I had just had a taco salad a day or two before a Taco Bell. I got one of those specials that popped up on my, you know, my Taco Bell rewards app. It was like, here, try this new thing. So I went over there and I tried it, and my experience that I shared with it apparently was so uh hilarious and meaningful that I got an email from Japan over it.

That is crazy. Something else that that really got me. Uh, we were talking about Steffi mentioned the fact that uh Eiffel Tower was gets bigger in the in the summer because it expands in the heat. And you made a joke that the doctor should measure you in the summer because that way you're taller. And I I'm still laughing over that one. It's hilarious. Just don't measure him in the winter when he shrinks.

That that again was unplanned. That was something that she was saying, something, and that's just my spontaneity. I was off the top. I liked uh a conversation that you guys were having, and etc. What was that? It was about 30 minutes in. And uh I asked you and Steph about um, you know, the the off-the-wall question I heard recently on the internet, if uh you guys think Jesus could sing. And so we were getting into that real hot and heavy and deep and everything about if Jesus could sing, and we were given all of our, you know, all of our uh thoughts and whatnot. And uh Stephanie were you know out of left field says, Do you think Jesus had a sweet tooth? And Ray, without skipping a beat, he's like, Yeah, I bet he had some honey buns. And I just I snorted, I made I made some god-awful sounds. You caught me so off guard, I think I was choking on my cookie because I'm like, Ray, there is no way they had honey buns back in the day with Jesus. Like, what are you talking about, bro? What are you smoking? And the way that you guys were like, oh yeah, they had buns and they had honey.

And I'm like, oh yeah, those aren't the honey buns I was thinking about. I was thinking about like those ones you see at the gas station and those ones with 500 calories in them, yeah.
