We 30 games into the season. I don't think it's premature at all. Right. Um I don't think at all. I think that I mean, I I think they could afford to lose today, and they did. I mean, yeah, yeah, yeah. They could afford to lose today. Now, Galvan did nothing but foul and turned the ball over and get beat on defense. Um, and it's crazy because she still played 32 minutes, but she just she just couldn't get a rhythm going, I guess, with the you know, playing aggressive, but I mean she made a few pretty good passes, but she kind of found trouble early.

Like, use your strength, use your throw that weight around, girl. Like, that's your paint. Use it. That's that's what the freak I be talking about. But we'll get more into that later. Because I'm gonna say what the freak I need to say.

Um They executed today. They they executed today. I mean, the babies were tupping. Now, Bandy on Bandy had so many damn defensive breakdowns by letting sis on the damn block just have wide open. I was just like, make that make sense. Are y'all not rotating? Like, what what are y'all are we not communicating? What are y'all doing? Right. Like, what? Um uh Sasha Washington child, her her and them damn missed layups, honey. I wanted to scream. And she had she missed like some wide open layups. She missed a whole lot of bunny shots that she should have made. That sometimes, you know, that she I felt like she doesn't make consistently anyway. I mean, they got a good look at the end of the game, but why do they not one one Shay should have called the timeout earlier. She called that damn timeout way too late. Like, you had nothing.

I mean, it was close. It was I absolutely agree with that too. I and I had mentioned earlier, like, this was probably like the first game I've seen of Vandy where I felt like they let the game get in their head. There were a couple moments where I just felt like um you saw like frustration um on a lot of their faces. Um in particular, Sasha, I feel like she got kind of got flustered and frustrated today. And I feel like on some of those plays, it kind of translated through her game. I don't know if she could really get over the hump like mentally, like in her head. Um but I will say that put it somebody comment today, like, oh, Michaela Blakes didn't shoot at all in the first quarter.

Um is that lack of trying or good defense? Good defense. I I agree. And this is what I will say, and we're gonna get to this game obviously next. But because we're talking about it right now, I feel like this is a good example just to use it right now. So, to answer that question, because somebody was like, Are you gonna get on Michaela about not taking a shot in the first quarter? You know what I'm saying? This is my thing about when I'm talking about Michaela Williams and Madison Booker about not taking enough shots, right? I think Madison was three for four at halftime.

That is somebody that is actively, actively looking for their shot. They're actively aggressive. Her shots weren't falling, so what did she do? She got to the free throw line. She was gonna make a difference some way because she needed to. They needed the buckets to stay in the game. You know what I mean? But she found a way to do it. You know what I'm saying? Like, that is the difference. That is what we're talking about in terms of like being aggressive the entire game, putting the game on your back, putting the team on your back, right? Like, shit's not going well, but I still need to get a bucket. I'm actively looking, I'm actively trying. I'm gonna draw these fouls, I'm gonna get to the free throw line. That's what we're talking about. So though she didn't finish, the first though she was held scoreless in the first quarter, she had 12 in the second. Right? She had 12 points in the second quarter. Yeah. Ended three for eight and was 19 for 20 from the free throw line. Yeah. That is somebody that's actively looking for their shot the entire game, is aggressive the entire game.

It's also letting the defense letting the game come to you and not trying to take over the game and then coming and just forcing up shots. You what? She wasn't open. It was great defense. That at the end of the day, if you will score like that, you and that's and this is why she's so great to me. Because this still found a way. And this thing about it, if you want to say that, I mean, she got every call. I mean, she she shot 20 free throws. She stepped up and made them all too. Only missed one. Went 19 for 20, stepped up and made them. I mean, I liked what I saw from her today. I mean, 40 minutes, like I said, only took eight shots, still got 27 on you. I'm gonna find a way. I'm gonna get it done somehow, somehow. They still lost. Um, Justine Pashat Passat is a hell of a player. She is a hell of a robot.

I mean, I think just with the way that the defense was played, like especially on Michaela Blake's and the way that Justine had it going, I would have liked for them to draw something up for her because she's not getting all the attention like obvious is gonna get. Now, they still got a good look. I will say that. But um, I tell you what, uh, your girl, um, when Antonda getting get in the damn gym, please. Please get in the gym, please. Because maybe she was she was wide damn open. I mean, I guess, you know, she came off a good game last game. You know, we know why, you know, the game it was, you know, why it was there as far as you playing your old team, whatever. Do do it again. You know what I'm saying? I I don't know if I don't even want to say, you know, people can say that Vanderbilt overlooked Georgia. I don't think that's the case at all. I think Georgia just came, came, played at home and beat their ass and had a game plan.

As far I hope that we see that more. Because I think that that's that's the game plan, if you ask me. That's what you should do. Now, Michaela plays Oh shoot. Excuse me. Now, Michaela did have some turn. It's like sometimes these turnovers, I be like, she only had two. She had some crucial ones too, especially at the end of the game.

So did you get to watch any of Maryland at Ohio State? No. Uh-huh. I didn't get to watch. I didn't get, because I think they was on at the same time, and I was trying to watch Tennessee. And uh I I watched a little bit of Ole Miss. I watched a little bit of my Ole Miss in Kentucky.

Um, but also like UK doesn't do well with that pressure, but they were playing at home. Um but when I was looking at ESPN, it looked like Ole Miss, they missed a lot of shots. Like I think Cody was only like four for something. 18. Four for 18.

And she got her stuff kind of late too. She got her stuff late. Um, yeah, they shot 27%, 16, 59. Yeah, they didn't shoot the ball well. Hell. But and I feel like that's something that they've done before.

That's that's a struggle. Usually that's usually a struggle for them sometimes. But let's get into uh Texas and Tennessee, child. Let's see here. Um Tennessee. Tennessee fought today.

I think I even put like sometimes it's like do do y'all listen to y'all coaching staff? Sometimes I'll be like, yeah, they just be out there doing what they want to do. You know what I'm saying? But I mean, and I don't mean that in like a really bad way because they really do have good pieces. I think they drive to the basket very well. Um I like they have the height, they have the strength as far as the guards go. Like, you think about what is it, Cooper, Talia Cooper? Yeah, big guard, big body can get to the basket to let can can uh shoot the three. Um, and a couple of them can shoot the three. Barker can shoot the three, um, they all can get to the basket. It's it's it's the discipline part that for me is is missing for them. Um the the little things. But I feel like they have the athleticism because I feel like what I noticed in the first half is that they did a great job of driving to the basket and establishing that early. Yeah. That that opened up, you know, that three-point range area, right? Um, so I thought they did a great job of like playing that inside out. But also, like, that's what I'm saying too. They shoot the ball pretty well from the three. And they can drive it pretty well too. Today. You know, so Oh, you don't think they shoot it well?

I just don't like the that's the I feel like a lot of the times they have the athletic ability to get to the basket more and to get better selection, shot selection, and they don't do that if it makes sense. That's what I that's what I say by that. I mean, today it was it was alright. Now, I I don't really say a whole lot of and and and okay, and it's like people were complaining about like as far as like the the foul count, etc. But I mean, if you only think you shooting is jumpers and only thing you shoot in this threes, how you gonna get to the foul free throw line? How you gonna get the foul calls? If only you shooting is jump shots or threes.

I thought it was a great game. Um both teams played hard. Um, as I mentioned, Madison about Madison earlier, um, when I was just trying to compare like Michaela Blake's actively looking for her shot, yeah. Opposed to like Madison. There was a time I feel like it was towards the end of the game. I think it was tied. Um I wanna see it. Okay. It was like I was saying they need a bucket and they're only up one. Um and I think Rory ended up driving it to the basket, she kind of got cut off, and then she turned around and passed it to Lee, and then Lee ended up taking the three, and then Madison just standing over there on the wing.

And if you asked anybody that knew basketball, they would be like, Yeah, I want her to take the last shot. You know, um, so that's the type of stuff with me with Madison. Like, when it's time to put the team on your back, I'm looking for her to be active and be aggressive and looking for her shot. Um, so again, uh I think I had said earlier that I was like, oh, in the first quarter, like, I mean, or at half, maybe what was uh Madison? I think she might have been like three for four.

They got to the post. Um, they weren't rushing. Like it was just, I felt like it was very like intention, and like it was uh like with intention, they executed well. So I was thinking like to myself, like, this is great. I like this. Now I thought like, oh, well, Courtney, she only took three, three, you know, four shots or you know, two shots. Well, it's like, well, that's because everybody's doing well. They're making their shots in the paint, they making their bullet, you know what I'm saying? That's fine. But when it gets to a point where people ain't scoring, yeah. You know what I'm saying? It's it's game time, it's it's time to lock in. I need you to, and that's what I'm saying. If I'm looking at Michaela, Blake's, when it's time to like lock in, she like turns that shit on and you can see it. So she didn't score in that first quarter. What'd she do? She had 12 in the second. Yeah. Do you get what I'm saying? Yeah. That's what I'm looking for. Like, you're that girl, Madison, on that team. When it's time to lock in and put the team on your back, do that shit. Yeah, don't be standing over in the corner hiding and and all of that. Like they're looking for you. Yeah. We want you. So that's that's my thing with that. Um, yeah. But again, sometimes I'm like, when we said this, I'm like, maybe I'm asking for too much. I don't know. I if if Texas fans, if y'all cool with that, y'all got the all-American SEC what freshman player. I mean, she all of these things. Yeah. So if y'all cool with her just standing over in the corner and letting everybody else do it, hey, I I won't say shit else. If you do what she does.

Yeah. I'll tell you. Jordan Lee, I thought Jordan Lee played aggressive today. I felt like she was, she was aggressive. I felt like she was aggressive. Uh, she wasn't shooting well from the three. She went over four, but she was driving, getting to the free throw line. Uh Madison Booker did step up and make free throws at the end. She did do that. Rory, now, Rory had uh the bit the defensive stop at the end for Cooper, who Cooper balled, uh had the defensive stop at the end too. So, but I just I don't know. It was just like, it was just like it was so like even, even, turnover, turnover, but it was like, you know, it still wasn't no. Do you feel like Texas like turned it up any to come and just win and beat the game, or do you feel like Tennessee just beat themselves? Or they did their work early.

You know what I'm saying? But you think about the SEC tough, tough, tough conference. Yeah. And like I said, if you have somebody Uh like a Madison Booker on your team. If we're gonna just rely on like our role players to like pull us through the entire SEC, you know, tournament and March Madness, like that's why I said Texas, y'all got a problem because y'all have an all-American right here that can absolutely do that all the time. But I think it's I don't know if it's like a mental thing or like a I I don't know. Like taking it personal. I don't I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. Yeah. Um, but again, like I said, uh if if if I'm maybe I'm asking for too much, I I don't know. I I guess for me, if I'm coaching because I want to win, I need her to do more.

I've seen this a lot too. I mean, she's playing for Vanderbilt. She's playing for Vanderbilt. That's what makes what she's doing so special, considering the fact that they are top 10 in the country.

Let me figure, oh, this the that's adjusting to the game. Like, that's basketball IQ. Oh, they're giving me calls, they're gonna keep calling fouls. Let me keep driving then. And she was selling the help them fouls, and they was giving her the calls. Now, do we think that she has a special whistle? Maybe. Does she deserve the whistle? I think so. I mean, you know what I'm saying? I think. Kaylee Kirk had a special whistle. I'm not against that. What's name got one too? Aja Wilson. And I and she does very much give her a.

The foul count, and they even asked Kim Codwell that too. As far as now, at the end of the game, that foul, that last foul they called on Jemia Barker. That was not about that was some news. That's horrible. And you know, and I and I hate that about the referee because like that's that little tic-tac fails, that's inconsistent. Because one, you gotta know as a referee, like the foul count, she's got five, I'm gonna foul her out for this. You know what I'm saying? Like it wasn't, it wasn't even please. Right.

I kind of I hate when refs insert themselves in the game like late, late game like that. Because it was still what, maybe like a two-point game or something like that. Yeah, it's like, bro, like just do the no-call, man. Who were we doing? It was only like a minute left or something.

And Tennessee had the uh, and Tennessee had the uh had the momentum too. Because it's the end of the day, you go down there, Rory takes that charge that you don't call a charge. That was questionable. I like the no-call on it, but then you call tic-tac fouls like that. So it's just like make it make sense. Like you ain't know where's the consistency with that, right? But uh Cooper balled today. She did. Um, bless her heart, she almost had a double-double with nine turnovers, my God. Uh she was throwing the ball in the stands too. Um, she shot the ball well. But oh, I mean, if we talk about just the press conferences with these two teams, you know, Big calling them soft, uh, Kim saying that they quit. Um, and we did watch the press conferences from the games today. And I mean, I felt like both teams, I felt like Tennessee responded.

And I'm a hoo-a decoy. You know what I'm saying? Like, stop, you know what I'm saying? Like, sometimes it takes you don't know what it takes for people to get it out of there. You gotta put what she lit a fire in their ass, I'm saying that. That's my point. Yeah, that's my point. And they put and they played hard today. Um the benches, the bench for Tennessee did nothing. Um Sybil had seven rebounds, but it was a whole lot of bench not doing nothing today. Same thing with Tennessee. I mean, the same thing with Vanderbilt, it was a whole lot of bench just kicking it today. Um But yeah, overall I thought Tennessee was aggressive.
