Welcome to the Mid Majors podcast where the real hoop talk happens, unfiltered and unapologetic. I am your host, Sakara, and with me I got my girl Courtney, and we are the Mid-Majors. Woo! Courtney. This was a good game. It was a good game. It was a great game.
SPEAKER_01It was a great game. It was.
SPEAKER_00Kentucky and Georgia is finishing up right now. We got 13 seconds left. The score is 76 to 61. Super speeder. Let's go ahead and call it out. Clara Strach did what the hell she wanted today. She put on a clinic. I have so many questions on She was a dog today. She was the dog today. She was the bark. Not the bark. Oh my god. We're gonna get more mom.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna get used out of it because uh Christian had a storybook character parade. He wanted to be dog man. I said we're gonna get more use out of this. Period. She was dog today. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But um, we're gonna get into this game real quick. We got a lot of other games coming on, so we're not done for the day. Just gonna be watching everything. But uh man, let's talk about it. So, first and foremost, I feel like when it came to just the game, I felt like Claire Strach, Danny Carnegie, they were showing you that they was first team on conference today. I'ma just put that out there. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Just like before the game, they was like, oh, we hooping. We hooping. So let's hoop.
SPEAKER_01What what did what did Kitty Heath Kitty said? You were the worst superstar I have ever coached in my life. And Clara took that personally. As she should. As she should. As she should. Um As she should.
SPEAKER_00I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed in Georgia. So like I don't like the fact we talk about making adjustments, right? I felt like was no adjustments were made on her whatsoever from the beginning of the game to the end. I don't understand. Like, I get that's their thing where they do the hard hedge as far as you know, on the ball screen, right? And kind of like a double team. I don't understand that I don't understand why not making that adjustment when Clara Strack is setting the screen. You know what I'm saying? Like, you're gonna have to fight over that damn screen and stay with it. Because she had, you're gonna have to. I've never in my life seen a person in the conference, right? In the conference tournament, a player like her, first team on conference, get that much space the whole game.
SPEAKER_01Okay, didn't she set the record today? Uh the first SEC player over what 6'4 or 6'5, so something like that. To have five things in a game or something like that? Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And that's what I'm saying. And it's like, and that's the thing. She made more threes. She hit five. She made more than the whole damn team put together. Hell, she made more. She made the same amount of threes as Georgia did as a team. It's what I'm saying. I don't understand how, I don't understand how they don't get physical with her. You or even, do you feel like they attacked her early as far as uh, you know, on defensively? You felt like they did?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no. No, what I was saying is that I agree with you that I don't feel like big enough adjustments were made on Clara to kind of slow her down, especially on the perimeter. What you're saying is that y'all gonna have to fight over that damn screen to stay with her ass. You already hit three. So I disagree with that. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. And on the other end, I felt like UK made adjustments and, like, you know what, we're gonna try to zone out. Okay, because like they drive into the basket, they put in the trouble. You know what I mean? They're driving and kicking, shooting open threes. So let's try this out. One shot for Georgia, UK rebounds the ball and then go on the other end and score. I thought it was great adjustment on coaching, on the coaching side for sure.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, like I said, Kenny Brooks did his thing today. Um, Tia, we gotta give it out to Key. Key was balling. Key missed her last shots at the end of the game. She sis started out six for six, 14 points, 12 rebounds. She's been the missing piece for them. Like, they look, yeah, they look great today. I love what Abby's doing off the bench. I I Yes.
SPEAKER_01I like it. I like it. The only thing I wish is that I want Tony Morgan to tap in earlier. I think sometimes she's just coasting and coasting and coasting. And sometimes it's just the energy that I'm looking for her. Y'all already know how I feel about point guards and leadership on the floor and just feeling that energy and seeing that leadership. And I want to see that more from her because UK definitely has the pieces to possibly win this championship. They could. You know what I mean? If they're shooting the ball well, but they have to have that energy and that leadership. And I don't think they really have that in that point guard position. So I definitely want to see her turn it around because I mentioned to you in the text message, you put Georgia A more on that UK team.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You got a totally different situation there. You get what I'm saying? Yeah. Um, I just I want to see more from Tony. Um, I want to see her locked in the entire game. I want to see her be aggressive the entire game. Um great game for UK across the board.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna tell you why I want to see it too. So, yesterday, if you think about yesterday's game, she didn't really have to. You get what I'm saying? Because you had Hassett, you had Boone, who was lighting, lighting that shit up. Yep. You get what I'm saying? So, of course, you know, you got your post players who's going to work. You know what I'm saying? Like, Hassett only had seven points today. Boone was doing, was, was fouling the hell out of everybody. She had zero points today. So I'm thinking you gotta make sure, you know what I'm saying? Like, well, I say this. You I'll say, I'm gonna say in the future, if you seeing like yo, yo two and your three aren't scoring or they're not as so effective offensively, yes, I want you to be aggressive offensively. But I think with her today, I think it was all about her getting her assist at the beginning of the game. I feel that she does that. But I feel like today, for the most part, the the right pass and the right move early was to the post. Because, like I said, nobody was guarding Clara Strach at the moment. Absolutely. Nobody was guarding her. Absolutely. I don't I don't understand. Like a pet a person like Clara Strack, you gotta be physical with. As soon as Clara Strach come out come across the lane, you you should be mushing her the whole game. She should be touched the whole game. Not fail. But you should have a hand, a body on her the whole game. She should, if you get her, if you let her player like her, 6'5, who likes the face up, why is she getting the open floor the whole game? Make that make sense to me. So I don't I didn't like the coaching from Georgia on this one. I do something different. I mean, not saying it would have mattered, but to me, I felt like now sis ball, sis was hooping, sis was shooting. She was did you at least pinch the today? No. No. No. No. No. Sis put on a damn foot. Sis had a sis was in workouts today. She had a post-workout today. She took that personally. She took that personally today. She took it personally. She took it. She took it personally.
SPEAKER_01I love it. I'm happy to see them play uh South Carolina next. That's gonna be a great game. It's gonna be a great guest. It's gonna be a great game.
SPEAKER_00It's gonna be a great game. We're gonna have a special guest tomorrow. We're gonna have uh Michaela Epps is gonna be on the live party. Courtney, you gonna be able to make it?
SPEAKER_01Uh I won't I won't be on the live, but I'll be in the chat. I'll be watching the game, but I won't be in there.
SPEAKER_00So I'm gonna have a special guest with me tomorrow. I'm gonna have Michaela Epps. Um, she's a Hall of Famer at UK. Child, what years did Michaela Blades play this? She graduated in 2016. She got drafted, went to the Chicago Sky. She actually played for Kentucky. So I'm gonna have her with me against uh South Carolina tomorrow, um, doing the live watch party with me. So that's gonna be fun. Just seeing somebody who's been there played at this moment at SEC, a true, you know, somebody who had a Kentucky great. She just got introducted to the Hall of Fame last year. So that's gonna be good to have her. But um, just a real quick recap. Washington's up 32-20 on USC. Um, the Atlanta Sun, Eastern Kentucky is balling this year. They got a hell of a team. They up 25-21 at Austin P. Texas Tech is 34-29 against Kansas. Um I'm ready to watch Miami and Notre Dame next, and I'm ready to watch Florida and Oklahoma.
SPEAKER_01Uh, what channel is Miami and Notre Dame coming on?
SPEAKER_00ACC Network. ACC Network. So everything for now, the first few rounds is on Bay Network. Mm-hmm. Brooklyn, I'm afraid to watch. I'm gonna check out Florida and Oklahoma. Sheep in a kutmona. Ooh. So I'm excited about that one too.
SPEAKER_01We got some. I gotta figure out my ESPN. Brooklyn Myers Oklahoma 130. Yeah, I gotta check her out too.
SPEAKER_00All right, Charles. I'll do like a little screen thing for you. But uh, do it. Be back. I'm sure, I'm sure we'll be back on her tonight. We just want to do a quick recap on that game as we could. But uh, y'all let us know y'all's thoughts. Cause yeah. But um, South Carolina, Kentucky tomorrow, take off work, just playing. Um, we will see y'all tomorrow. Y'all have a good night. All right, bye y'all.
unknownBye y'all, baby.
