Listen as I try and pull 10 songs for a final Desert Island playlist. Yeah, its impossible. So here are some gems to be cut by your ears.

Greetings and salutations. This is My Little Radio podcast with John. I'm so glad you're here. I'm glad to be here as well. It's been a little while since our last podcast, but man, life is lifing, and good things are happening. A lot of changes in our lives, uh, I think for everybody. Uh for our particular family. It takes a while to put these together. It's not that it's difficult. It just takes time. So I'm glad you're here. Welcome to my podcast. If you've been here before you can use a lot of music for your life, uh my favorite video. And I want to bring the hopefully a lot of these review. And of course, I'm going to put a little bit of background on them so that we know a little bit more about the craft of the great audio player. So I appreciate you guys being here. Without further ado, we're going to kick this off with uh just tell you right now, it's going to be lover rocket with Cundalini XR. And it is a great crack off of their phenomenal album XRA. This is one of the first actually was the first Lover Rocket album I've ever heard of. If you're familiar with Lover Rocket, they will be of the house with a Peter Murphy-like group, if you may remember it, which is a little like a dead, among others. And during the long period of that period of time, the numbers uh even half an uh reading. Um refers to the kundalini, which is the uh yoga type that you want to go to the higher body and rest and you can read all the energy. So it's really cool. Uh and um it just comes along, and I like the whole fact that it goes in between different rounds. It's a rock song, it's a mellow song, it's a psychedelic song, so that's what we're gonna kick off with. Uh to follow that is another psychedelic song from a band that's about 30 years older. I'm not gonna say who it is until afterwards, but you'll see the similarities, and we'll talk about it on the back end of the song. Enjoy, it's a good thing.

And that was the beatles with tomorrow never knows. I didn't want to announce that it was a beatles one because I think a lot of people would just think of that uh because when they think of the beatles, they think of the beetle organized eyes. I mean recorded and then played afterwards on the master date. So that was a unique recording file at the time afterwards. So grateful that I was here in Las Vegas and they played that as an encore. I knew it was a long way to like almost anybody in that medium that knew that at all. Um that kind of kicks off for hell, those are two bands and two albums that I would love to have with me that being uh expressed by Little Rocket and Revolver by the Beatles. So with that, we're gonna get into a little bit more uh modern stuff, a little bit more harder stuff, and uh we're gonna kick that off right now with one of my favorite bands. I mention them on the shelf all the time, and that is New York. This song is a song that was on their 1986 album, Low Life. And it's an incredible album. It's so guitar-based and bass-bassed music. Uh and this particular song just really just knocks your socks off, so stick with it. It's not Blue Monday, it's not a dancing desco check song. Uh, I think it's more of a rock song. So hope you enjoy it.

And then in between there, as you know, I had a sneak in some game suggestion. Probably my favorite band. But I did want to plug in some of their rocker songs because everyone knows them. And I don't know how many of you know summertime is to me it's just a really beautiful lot of song. Pretty much self-explanatory about summer, about being in the grass, being a fight nature, the words are again a little bit like a gallium. Buttercott butterfly. So it's just a great beautiful song. Two or three heads were great songs or whatever, but they're very hard. So I always have to have a game in my players because they're just um Radio Edge Subterranean Homesick Alien. Um if you're familiar with OK Computer, you know that it's an album about alienation. Alienation from other human beings. And that song obviously talks about aliens coming down and taking you away from Earth and giving you perspective on things outside of our universe. What I like most about it is I have this every time I hear the song, I think of Call of Encounters of the Third Kind, Steven Spielberg's film from 1977, where Richard Dryfus's character is so obsessed with UFOs and aliens that he wants to go on their mother. Everyone else is like who would do that. And that's what Tom York is thinking about in the song. I can't wait for them to come and take me from this horrible world, this horrible earth, and show me something new that will blow my mind. Radiohead kind of like O and D and some of the other bands I've referenced. Hard to find certain songs that are because that bore you, but also are sonically interesting. So I'm glad you like that. If you like that song, if you haven't listened to all of OK computer yourself a disservice, please go out and listen to it from track one to the final track, and you'll be very happy to get another reference of that song by radio and subtraining homes and healed on the title from Bob Dylan Subtraining Homes and Blue of Time of Mind. So who knows to tell you what you're doing? Alright, well, I'm gonna close this out with another three set. Um and I'm not gonna keep it here. These are we'll pick it up a little bit, but again, deeper cuts from some bands that really meant the most to me from the 80s, from the 70s, to the eighties, and even to the 90s. So without further ado, we're gonna get into probably my favorite cure song of all time. Hope you enjoy it. I just got one in there. I know. So that last one was the Rolling Stones. I like when I mentioned the Beatles. I didn't want to put in something where somebody would see the name of a band. You know, the 60s and 70s, blah blah blah. But I put that in there because just recently I watched the Rolling Stones documentary, Beauty Shelter, which is their concert footage of their ultimate show back in, I want to say 1969. And it was just I'm sorry, 1970s. And it was just a debacle. Um obviously everyone knows that some people were murdered uh by the Hells Angels who took over the show as the stone security or unofficial security. And that documentary documentary has some really good behind the scenes shots and footage of other bands distressed, not pleased with the situation, or even refusing to go on on the stage and play. And you can hear like Midnight Rambler and some other old stone songs that remind me of kind of that time where they were very I call them a dangerous band. You know, people were nervous to go to their shows. Uh labels were scared to uh you know have them as on the roster as a band. So if you haven't seen Evening Shelter, I highly recommend you look at it. It's on Netflix I believe right now. Really eye-opening behind the scenes look at rock and roll life in the 60s and 70s, but also at that particular moment uh tragedy. So I stuck that in. Again, that's a good song that's been popping up on my playlist. I love the songs and I do like the dirty stuff that they do. Uh their albums like Aftermath and uh Her Majesty's uh satanic services. I totally messed that up, but that's okay. Are some of my favorite albums, and I guess I like the dangerous albums. I remember seeing Jane's Addiction in 87 and I'm sorry, 88. And uh the SWAT team was great because they wanted to protect the crowd from the outlandishness and the craziness that uh had been perpetrated through the media of what that experience was like. So anyway, uh great song, and I appreciate everyone for coming and listening to my podcast, my little radio. Try to put together and procure a really nice list today so that it was very pleasing to listen to, and hopefully you learned something new, or you found a new song or a new band that you might go investigate on your own. Thanks for coming out, and I'm gonna leave you with one last band, and this is uh Smashing Pumpkins, one of my favorite bands of all time. Again, their first four albums were just phenomenal knockout hits. And this is one song that I just feel comes off of their best album, which is Finy Dream, full of so many good songs, but this one I just love a lot because it's very uh finalized, for lack of a better word. It's just it's about taken off from the earth and just kind of going off into directions that you don't know about. And the guitar working Billy Corrigan is incredible. He's an incredible guitarist, incredible musician. So this one rocks, it's kind of a three-chord banger, so to speak. So enjoy it. Thanks for coming.
