Welcome back to another episode of Poneglyph Podcast. This is episode 27 where we decode the world of One Piece and anime one Poneglyph at a time. I'm your host, J aka Milky Way Jay, here with my brother, my co-host, Freshly Cut Head John, man. How you doing, bro? What's up, y'all? What's up, what's up, man? How you feeling today?
SPEAKER_04Feeling good. New episode of One Piece. Can't complain. The manga episode chapter was pretty good in itself. Big surprise there. Um yeah, cut the dreads. On to, you know. I'm missing four years of progress down. But they will be back for sure. Yeah, so um, I'm hyped for today, man.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, man. We got a lot in store. Good episode. Um, I'm expecting a good uh episode to watch. I'm expecting a good chapter to talk about, and we got some good news uh that recently has been popping up. And I'm glad I kind of went over this morning and looked over uh in the community because there was some recent news that dropped. Um, but yeah, we got a lot to talk about. But like I said, episode 27. We're so happy to be here. It's crazy that you know we've done 26 of these prior to this already, but uh it's moving so fast, almost at 30, and you know, we're gonna keep going from there. If y'all are here live with us, make sure y'all smash that like button. I know it's kind of unconventional time for us to go live, but here we are. This is what uh fit our schedules the best for this week. And hey, instead of skipping a week, we try and get it where we can. That's all we can do. So make sure y'all leave a like if y'all are here live or catching us on the VOD. If y'all are listening to us on the audio platforms, make sure y'all leave us a five-star rating and a good review. We'll make sure to get back to y'all and and keep this community going. And as well, check us out on social media if y'all haven't. TikTok, Instagram, our YouTube shorts. Uh, if y'all are listening to us audio, that way y'all could see some of our clips, get into some of the conversation and discussion amongst the community. Because hey, there'll be some good debates based on some of the world news stuff and some of the manga talk. So wherever y'all fit in, there's a conversation going. So we appreciate y'all for all of that.
SPEAKER_04Um real quick.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, what's up, man?
SPEAKER_04Shout out to Milky Way J channel. We have made it to the threshold of a thousand subs. My boy.
SPEAKER_02Appreciate that.
SPEAKER_04Big shout out to you. Props to you. This man goes hard almost every day, almost he's making content. Um, and I, you know, just the behind the scenes stuff that I see, this boy's he's really been grinding.
SPEAKER_02So I appreciate that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, um, a lot more to come, but the first big uh bookmark or yeah, milestone for sure.
SPEAKER_02Um, yeah, like he said, if y'all don't know, y'all do know now. I have uh a personal channel, Milky Way J. Go check that out. Recently just hit a thousand subs and was like officially uh monetized. I've been quote unquote a YouTube partner for a little bit now, but now I'm officially monetized to where I got ads on my videos and and whatnot. So if y'all watching the Milky Way J video, watch that ad. If it's a long one, you can skip it. But watch that ad, you know. Uh it it helps. But I appreciate all the support nonetheless. It's like you said, I I I grind almost daily uh at this content stuff, whether it's doing thumbnails, whether it's making videos, whatever the case may be. I have been uh putting my heart and soul into it. So seeing finally breaking this threshold. I feel like with the work I've been putting in and with the quality I've been putting out, I was like, man, it's been such a long time coming. I feel like I could I could have hit it faster, but hey, that's just motivation for me, you know, moving forward. I'm trying to hit two even faster than I did the one. So it's only up from here. I appreciate y'all. Uh, if y'all are supportive over there on that side. And Ja, I appreciate you. You know, you you're you've been uh you're in a few videos over there, especially some of the older, older videos. Um when I started a couple years ago, like really going hard. So can't do it without you either, brother. Every every every process, every step of the way, you know, you've been there supporting me as well. So appreciate that, man. Um all right. Let's get straight into our episode today. We got a lot to talk about. Let's dive first things first into our anime world news segment. And I wanted to get some of the dull stuff out of the way first. So here we go. Uh Takahiro Fujiwara, the voice actor for Dory in One Piece, has reportedly passed away at the age of 43. Um, 2026 has been a crazy year already with a lot of like uh notable people in the anime community passing away. Um 43 is young. I'm too young. Yeah, I really don't know what the specifics to his situation was. Um, but nonetheless, you know, he is no longer with us. So it really doesn't matter. What matters is that, you know, his legacy and the work that he has put in is just honored and respected. Condolences go out to his family. And, you know, Dory, especially now, you know, now we're in Elbath, it's it's just crazy to think about because he's such a big part in um this arc. You know, this we we haven't seen, we haven't seen Dory and Braggie since Little Garden all those years ago. And here we are back in Elbath and this uh tragedy, you know, occurred. Uh what are your initial thoughts here in hearing this? Yeah, I saw it when it got posted and everything online.
SPEAKER_04Uh-huh. Just condolences to him and his family. Big, big player and uh where we're at in the show now, so it's sad to see him go. I hope he was able to get as much work done as as possible with the show and lived a fruitful life, but sad is very sad to see him go.
SPEAKER_02Definitely.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Um and we just touched on one piece and the fact that I'm I uh was looking at some other roles he played, and he's well known throughout the community. So um yeah, rest in peace.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for sure. Um you kind of hope with uh at least on the one piece side of it, especially with the new seasonal format, hopefully they were able to get a good amount of work in uh voice acting with him. Um because like we said, especially if you know in the manga, you know, Dorian Braggie, it's El Bath. They're they're they're pretty active throughout the course of this arc. And hopefully his roles were hopefully we don't have to see a shift too soon in you know the voice acting. I hope hope he was able to at least get a good amount of this arc done because major major arc, I mean Dory's one half of the captain of the giant pirates, and we're on the giant island, so yeah. But rest in peace to him and condolences to his family, friends, co-workers, anybody who's uh out there mourning him.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_04So the big just the VA and just anime creators and stuff like that passing away. It's been all it's been crazy, can't lie.
SPEAKER_02Definitely. We've lost a lot um here in 2026, and shoot, we're this is our 27th episode. We probably had maybe 15 to 20 episodes where we're reporting uh someone passing away who's you know impactful in the anime community, whether it's voice acting, directing, creating, um, both on the Japanese and American side of things. I've even seen some uh other, you know, language dub actors, voice actors pass away. Sometimes I just don't report on it because you know, it doesn't, we don't really I'm not gonna report on a the Portuguese voice actor respectfully because I don't watch it in Portuguese. The audience, we don't speak Portuguese, so it I it doesn't resonate as much, but I've even I've just seen it so much, and it's just crazy. Um doing this research for anime world news, like seeing these passions, like even for this, this was the only one I reported on today. There was a few that I seen. Some of them were just a little bit older and stuff, and some were kind of recapping all the people we lost already, but it's crazy to think about.
SPEAKER_05Alright, moving on.
SPEAKER_02Solo leveling has officially become the first and only anime in Crunchyroll history to surpass 1 million user ratings on the platform. The series continues to dominate globally following its explosive second season and record-breaking popularity among anime fans worldwide. Man, solo leveling, they got a grip on this uh this new age, huh?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the new gens are are showing their support, no doubt.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um, which is good to see for the community, you know. So big ups to uh solo leveling, well, well deserved. Um yeah, can't wait to see the see more of it though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Um solo leveling is you know kind of what you expect with the new gen. It's very uh action animation driven. Uh looks great. It's a it's it's a great show. And to see that the support from when it's been airing, at least on Crunchyroll, only two seasons out so far, to have it be the first and only anime in Crunchyroll history to surpass that many uh user ratings. I think it's a testament to to just how impactful it is. Um big solo leveling fan myself. Obviously, I have my my takes on the story and stuff, but then again, I love it. So I I can't I can't complain. It's just uh in comparison to other shows, I just feel like it has its pros and cons. But I do love solo leveling for what it is. I do feel like um there is now that this part early on, I'm not gonna spoil too much. Well, if you've seen it, you've seen it. We're we're here to talk anime. So season two with him actually getting the um to help his mom, the the the potion or whatever, to help his mother. I feel like now we're gonna get a little bit more story heavy with the show because it was very linear from the start, like that was just his goal, and he was just so OP. And I feel like now we should start getting some more. So I'm excited for it. Was it elixir of life or something? Or that's a good thing. No, that's uh Hell's Paradise. I wanted to say that too at first, but I'm like, nope, that's not it. That's funny. Yeah, that's hell's paradise. Almost like the same thing, but I don't think it's like I think it's just like a ultimate healing push.
SPEAKER_03I forget the specific name.
SPEAKER_05But yeah, I mean it just goes to show impact. And I'm excited for more.
SPEAKER_02It's it's gonna it's gonna be hard for any show to break that record. Because solo level is just gonna keep, we're at least gonna get a a few more seasons of it. Yeah. So yeah, the the user ratings are only gonna go up. So I mean, that's almost like LeBron right now, he broke the scoring record and he's still scoring. It's like nobody's gonna touch it. Like, no matter what, nobody's gonna touch it. And I mean, I kind of feel like this was the only show to surpass that many user ratings, and it's only two seasons out. I mean, that's gonna be a hard, hard thing to touch, but it's good for anime. Hopefully, it pushes more people to compete and and and try and try and surpass that. Records are meant to be broken, right? Yes, sir. The holy water of life. Okay. Kind of you was you know, close, yeah, type. Um yeah. This one was interesting to me. Scooby-Doo is officially getting its first ever anime series titled Yokoso Scooby-Doo as Scooby and Shaggy head across Japan on a supernatural adventure inspired by Japanese folklore. Hey, okay. I was a pretty big Scooby-Doo fan growing up. Um, I did enjoy it. Watched live action movies, you know, the animation, the animated show, all the different versions of it, the animated movies. I was a pretty big Scooby-Doo fan growing up. Um, and it's kind of funny that they're doing this now. I never saw it coming, but now that I kind of know the vibe of Scooby-Doo, it's like I can see it, you know, I could kind of see an anime. I mean, I don't really know in what terms, like story-wise and visually, what to expect. But just with all the different types of creatures that you know you see in Scooby-Doo, the monsters and stuff, and I just kind of feel like okay, they could do something. Um inspired by Japanese folklore.
SPEAKER_03Maybe cool.
SPEAKER_04Um I didn't watch too much Scooby-Doo, but I, you know, if I seen it on, it was getting watched for sure. Type of vibe. Uh, I hear the second movie is like the the probably the best movie they have. Um but yeah, Scooby-Doo is it. I I this is I like this. I might um definitely might check this out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Um do you feel like other shows, like older shows, American shows, should take this route, or you think it's like don't overdo it. Japanese route or like just pick up specific. I mean, this is specific anime series, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Uh yeah, there are a couple that might deserve it, you know. Um it's not a bad thing, you know. It's what's popping right now. If it if your show is good then, and you just, you know, want to at least test the waters with it. I don't see why not.
SPEAKER_02I'm kind of thinking of like different shows that them that might do well as an anime. Some names that pop in their head in my head is like Teenage Beating Ninja Turtles, Powerpup Girls, um, I don't know what else.
SPEAKER_03Can't lie. The Ninjago needs its own anime, boy.
SPEAKER_02Lego Ninjago used to hit too. I'm not gonna lie. I kind of caught the end of that, like when I was getting to the age where I was like, where Cartoon Network was changing for me, and like the show started to shift, that was when Ninjago really started popping. And that was like I was kind of getting into my teenage years around that time. But it was still like a memorable part. I probably got two, three solid years of like watching Ninjago pretty heavy when it was on Cartoon Network. But that wouldn't be bad. I just I just don't know how they would make like a Lego show unless they just make the Lego like the Ninjago like world and just make it like in instead of Lego, just anime. That would be interesting. That would be that would be pretty cool. Y'all let us know if y'all uh think any other Americanized TV, you know, cartoons would uh do well as an anime. And let us know if y'all think Scooby-Doo. Uh Yokoso Scooby-Doo. Does that mean let's go in in Japanese?
SPEAKER_05But maybe uh y'all let us know if y'all think it'll do well. Alright.
SPEAKER_02What a lot of us in the anime community have probably been seeing. The 10th anime or the 10th Crunchyroll anime awards results are out. 73 million votes across the world between 32 categories. I can't lie. I had some votes in there, part of that 73 million. Here are a few of the notable ones. Anime of the year was My Hero Academia final season. The film of the year was Demon Slayer Infinity Castle. Best continuing series, One Piece, best new series, Gotcha. Best original series, Lazarus, best animation, solo level, season two, and best character design, Gotcha. Head ass. Um, anything that stood out to you um amongst these anime of the year?
SPEAKER_04I mean, better it better have been good, boy. It better have been to win that.
SPEAKER_02They though they they wrapped it up good, man. I I'm not gonna lie. I'm not gonna say you're fake. I I I'm not the hugest my hero fan, but I do enjoy the show. Um, I do enjoy what it turned out to be. And they ended it pretty good. I mean, it's hard for me to really put too much above it to where I'd be like, yeah, this deserves anime of the year above this, just because I I feel like they're taking into consideration what the season did, like in terms for the story and everything. In terms of uh closure and wrapping it up and whatnot.
SPEAKER_05So I'm not mad at it. Film of the year, probably unanimous. Yeah, we we knew that was coming.
SPEAKER_04Um I like the category continuing series where they fit one piece 'cause come on.
SPEAKER_02Gotta give One Piece uh I respect. I've seen a lot of One Piece fans. You know, One Piece fans are gonna be a little bit overboard sometimes. I can admit that as a One Piece fan. A lot of them were arguing uh best animation. But I know me and you, we we had some uh some qualms with with Egghead's animation and like a little bit of the inconsistency. You know, it looked good overall. We we got some great fights uh when we seen you know the Gorsei, when we seen Zorro versus Luchi, when we seen Luffy versus Luchi and Kizaru. Um we've seen some good animation. Me and Ja, I mean, as y'all know on the pod, there was a few things that we did feel like was inconsistent. And I don't know if I just say it it's a like definite should be over solo level in season two, because solo level in season two animation was really good. Like it it it deserved a award, I'm sure. But I I just seen amongst the community people had some uh some things to say about it.
SPEAKER_04Um you know we had our moments with the uh animation, but undenia I feel like just undeniably, solo lovingly stuff.
SPEAKER_02Um I kind of feel like also nowadays I feel like it's gonna be like it's gonna be pick your poison with the best animation every year. I feel like animation's getting to the point where like there's always gonna be like a solid three, four shows that can be talked about where it's like, okay, this animation is top tier. Yeah. Um so like I feel like, you know, people who just prefer one show over the other, I feel like it's just gonna those is gonna be the kind of tug of wars amongst the voting to where it's gonna go one way or another. Because like I said, I feel like animation's getting to the point where it's it's so advanced that it's gonna be hard to keep some shows out of the conversation at least. But like I feel like every every year from here on out, whatever is in the nominees are all probably peak animation, and it's just like whatever one has the most fans that vote for it that year, like at that point. And we've seen how many fans is on of solo level, and we just talked about it. So, you know, just like Rabbi's got theirs, we solo level had to get theirs too. What were you about to say?
SPEAKER_04No, just like you know, the beta testing they did with in Egghead that we saw where they took their break.
SPEAKER_02Um it wasn't enough to solidify you know for the for the title or the reward, but um you gotta you gotta take off a couple points for that. Yeah. Like if we if we're if we're scaling everything and it's gonna be that close, because it definitely deserves to be One Piece, I'm sure was talked about. I'm not sure all the not nominees for every category, but I'm sure One Piece was was up there and and discussed. But yeah, like you you gotta take off points. If if as a voter myself, you know, we all are fans can vote for these awards. So like that's something I'm looking at. Like, okay, is that close? I gotta deduct points here. Solo levelant, I couldn't deduct any points. Like you can't. So yeah. Um character design. I like Gachyakuta character design. Um, I feel like it's pretty unique. Um, that's one of the shows I do recommend watching in dub because you kind of get different accents on different characters, and I feel like it fits like their design for everybody a little bit because uh I feel like there's a good sense of uniqueness amongst all the characters, um, the main cast at least. And yeah, I do feel like character design that could go there. Um, I feel like One Piece is always up there in character design just because of the uniqueness of all the different people and stuff in the One Piece world. But especially this past year with Gachi Akutu popping on the scene and becoming as big as it is. Um I'm not mad at that one. I've never seen Lazarus. Are you familiar with Lazarus? I've heard it ever since it started coming out. Um I've heard rumblings and stuff and people hyping it up. I've never got to fully dive into it or look into it myself. But with the hype, I'm sure it'll uh come on at least at some point. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I might have seen it on like scrolling on country wall. But I I did want to touch on um Gachikutu real quick. Uh shout out for it, you know, picking up two awards. That's big.
SPEAKER_02It actually picked up a few more, I think. At least one more. I just picked like the top uh eight, like some of the bigger categories. Yeah, yeah. Um but I think it it may have gotten an award for like one of the soundtracks or something. I I know it got another award too. And I because I had at first before I before the Crunchyroll uh awards dropped, I had some more Gotcha Guta awards from like a completely different award show. And then once I once these came out, I just took that off the list and I was like, we'll talk about these because these are probably like these are the most prominent anime awards at least. Um but yeah, they've been winning awards left and right at different shows and stuff. Uh I know one award, one like Japanese award show, its 50th anniversary was this past year, and Gachi Akuta Award won like best new not best news series, uh one of the one of the top series uh awards or something like that.
SPEAKER_05It's been doing pretty well with the with the community.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Uh and uh best character design, uh it has a pretty like unique animation. So I remember that was one of the things you pointed out when you first started.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, man.
SPEAKER_02Um shout out to all the winners of you know the Crunchyroll Awards. Hey, it's voted by the fans. We we are in control of you know who win these these polls. So if y'all didn't like some of these results, next year goes to the poll and vote for your shows.
SPEAKER_04Um I I do want to mention one more thing. Uh from what we got though with One Piece, it might be a contender for best animation more seriously. I will say that.
SPEAKER_02Um, so far, so good. I really, I really think if they continue to go on this level, especially with some of the stuff we're gonna be getting with this arc, like it's gonna be undeniable. You can't you can't not talk about it. If they stay on this timing that they want, where they're not really missing the beat, the sounds, the the animation, everything is like hitting on all cylinders. I won't be surprised if One Piece is sweeping a lot of these awards next year. Um just because of man, they they they took that three months and they locked in. LBAF so far has been really great. Uh obviously, we got another episode in a few minutes that we're gonna be breaking down. And yeah, I mean, shoot, if they keep it like this, it's gonna be hard for them not to get my vote next year. But yeah, definitely look into that, y'all. Uh one of the few award shows that we can just openly go and vote for as fans. Um, you know, some are kind of they have their own voting panels and stuff. But Quencharole is up to the viewers, so y'all want to see all y'all's shows uh name called for sure, for sure, go vote. And one thing I did want to talk about an idea, content idea for the Crunchyroll Awards. Next year we may do uh some like a live reaction to it if we're if we're both free. I know it's usually at night time because it's hosted in Japan, so it's it's gonna be like it would probably be like I know this past year, I think it was like at 1 a.m. my time. So if we did it, we'd both have to be free and not have anything going on. And um obviously I don't we don't expect a lot of people to be up, but we'll at least probably try and do like a live reaction, even if not, maybe record a reaction to um maybe just post post live stream and then just watch it on our own time, react to it and post it on on the channel as a video. Um yeah. But definitely that shoot. We might even uh do do a separate off video where we do it do a ponyglyph vote. Like we we just go go in and collectively maybe do a live stream and got some get some people in chat and just do do a vote. Uh go through all the categories and and pick our our favorites. So who knows? We got a year to think about it, but by then hopefully our community has grown and hopefully we have a good amount of y'all um locking in with us or something like that.
SPEAKER_03Alright. Some news that I I definitely appreciated.
SPEAKER_02Lego Batman, Legacy of the Dark Knight, is getting attention from any anime fans after viewers spotted multiple references to legendary series, including Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Naruto, One Piece, and Akira. Um, I we were talking earlier uh about my personal channel. That is a game that I will be playing. I'm actually gonna get it. I just got paid, so that's one of the first things I'm gonna get. I really don't need to be spending money about the move, y'all. So also, if if some things change with the scheduling in the upcoming weeks, I am gonna be moving, but it probably won't change too much. We'll be alright. But I don't really need to be spending the money that joined $70. But I want to play the game so bad, man. I love uh Lego Batman growing up, and it's uh they they took like the style from the Arkham games, and those are some of my favorite games of all time. The Arkham uh I personally uh which one's my favorite? Probably Arkham City. I really do like Arkham Asylum as well, and Arkham Knight. Arkham Knight might be the best overall, but Arkham City might be my personal favorite. But they took that style and they put it into the Lego Batman games that we all know and love. And man, the clips I've been seeing, I haven't seen too much because I want to have a pure playthrough. But I've been seeing some good things, and then I seen all the uh little Easter eggs with the anime shows in it and stuff, and it's just getting me hyped. So uh I know you I think you sent me uh the One Piece specific one. Yeah. Uh did you did you know that they did like all these shows, or did you just see the One Piece one?
SPEAKER_04I think it mentioned I've definitely seen the One Piece one. I think it mentioned uh AOT and DBZ.
SPEAKER_02But they're all kind of like the same, like those little posters and stuff, like how the One Piece one was, but they just like referenced to the different shows and stuff, still within the Batman world. It's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_04It's pretty cool. Um I mean the outreach, I mean, just One Piece alone, just anime in general, the outreach of other genres just showing their um and uh a couple weeks ago, didn't we report that the Batman um that was the comic?
SPEAKER_02They did a uh comic, yeah. They did like a comic on the title or something. They they did like a reference to One Piece or Saluca One Piece.
SPEAKER_04Yep. Just seeing, you know, anime getting out to other genres is it's great to see. And references, it's you know, that's for f it just all it's all coming together, and it's it's all growing, it's it's all getting real good. Everybody's getting on the same page. Everything we know and love is becoming more mainstream, and it's great to see.
SPEAKER_02Sure, for sure. A popular idea online says that kids who grew up watching Naruto tend to handle stress better than those raised mainly on Disney stories. Now, let me ask you this. I want I want to rephrase this to for our discussion. We're just gonna go anime as a whole. Do you feel like anime, not specifically Naruto, um, but do you feel like anime, kids that grew up watching anime have a different uh way of handling stress than kids who came up on? I I didn't know whether to because this says Disney stories, and when I wanted to rephrase this question, I didn't know if I wanted to say cartoons or cartoons in general? Okay, because because I didn't know, you know, Disney had a lot of the live action shows and Nickelodeon as well had a lot of live action shows. So I know that's a big part of people's childhood, so I didn't know if I just wanted to limit it to cartoons or just talk about like that those networks. Like, do you feel like kids who grew up do you feel like there's a difference? Because I know you came onto the I watched both. Like when I was a kid, I watched both. You came on the anime scene a little bit later than me.
SPEAKER_04But knowing the fact that kids were just you know, just an example that Jariah died when they were like eight years old, yeah. Bro, you know how that made it was making grown people cry. So just like the facts of these major players and shows, and you think you know, we're getting to know this the story as a kid, and then you're like, oh my god, like this is it's getting real, like this is real life stuff, like real life morals and things that happen in different cultures, like your experience it as a kid in in a not too adult way, but like you know, for a kid's eye to watch. Yeah, that'll change you as a person. That's like you learn, you're actually learning lessons through the from uh the high intensity that these shows can put out.
SPEAKER_03Um it's kind of for me, I I I wholeheartedly agree with you.
SPEAKER_02It's it's it's kind of weird because at first there was no division for me between the two. Because my first exposure to anime, um on a consistent basis as a kid, at least, was on Cartoon Network because Naruto was being aired on Cartoon Network, and uh so I didn't know the difference at the time. It was just I would just Cartoon Network was my go-to, I would turn it on, it came on once, and that was my first in the first episode I seen was um Naruto when when they were trying to when Orochimaru and Kabuto was uh in the field with Taraya and Tsade when they were first trying to get Tsunate. And I seen um, you know, when Kabuto was trying to lunge at Tsunade, and Naruto steps in to protect her and stuff. That was the first episode I seen ever of Naruto. And I was just like, it just caught me so off guard because I as a kid I'm like, who's this little kid jumping in the way to save this growing? Like, I was just my my head was just spinning. I didn't, and then I finally dove into Naruto once I learned what it was and watched it as a kid, and then re-watching it as a teenager and then an adult. Um I definitely say it's it's it's a different outlook than the average uh kid show, at least growing up in the early 2000s and stuff.
SPEAKER_03Um there was just a different view of that.
SPEAKER_02Man, I'm like nine, ten years old, learning that Sasuke's whole family and clan bloodline was wiped out by his older brother. I was like, yo. So it's yeah, it's definitely like a like he has real hate, he had real hatred for his brother, real emotion behind it. I was just like, yo. And there are shows like that, definitely. Um, but growing up, cartoons, you never really had like a show that was so heavily story driven. It was always usually supported by a lot of other things like in the cartoon world. Like, yeah, we got we had shows like uh Samurai Jack and stuff like that that I was watching. And don't get me wrong, it's a great, that's a great that's one of the shows that I, you know, borderline anime for me in terms of the cartoon world. But even even that, there's still a big difference in you know what you get from the anime side. So I could I could see where that statement is coming from. Um and then most of the people who watched Disney and Nickelodeon, like most of the high-intense moments were like high school moments. Like, you know, we're watching Victorious and they're having high school drama, rich people high school drama. We were watching Sweet Life of Zach and Cody, and they're you know, they're having drama, but it's like they're in the middle of the on a yacht or they're they're at some some resort.
SPEAKER_04They're getting a butt whooping at worst.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we're watching Phineas on Friday, where they're doing whatever they want. Like, so there is a divide, there is a big difference.
SPEAKER_03So I do feel like I won't say it's only handle stress, I'll go to just say it's uh there's a different emotional pull that anime just brings.
SPEAKER_02And growing up as a kid watching it, um, it'll teach you different lessons, it'll show you different things that regular cartoons won't. But I love both. I'm I'm a big fan of both. Obviously, as I've grown, I've gravitated towards anime more because I feel like you can grow a little bit more with anime. Whereas cartoons, like, I still mess with my SpongeBobs, my regular shows. I still I still throw those on. My uh I watch Phineas and Ferb every now and then, but like what else do I throw on? Fairly Eye Parents every now and then, Danny Phantom, um, some of the classics.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but it's just not the same, you know. There is a difference. There is a difference.
SPEAKER_02Alright, last but not least, Yujiro Hanma officially joins Tekken 8 as the fourth additional playable character, arriving in early 2027. Known as the strongest creature on earth, Yujiro debuts Yujiro's debut marks one of the biggest crossovers in Tekken history and brings the brutal world of Baki into the franchise. Have you ever seen Baki? I've seen a little bit. Man, Yujiro is a dog.
SPEAKER_03That's the son, right?
SPEAKER_02No, that's the Dead. Baki is the son.
SPEAKER_03Baki is a son. Which Baki.
SPEAKER_05Even because they're still dropping Baki. And like they fought.
SPEAKER_02I can't even still I still don't like. I don't think anybody can say that Baki surpassed his dad. Um Giro Yujiro is really him. And to throw him into the Tekken world, I think it's cool. Growing up being a Tekken fan, um, that was my favorite fighting game growing up. I didn't really play Tekken 8 that much. I played it a little bit. Uh even there. You know, I played like one or two rounds last year at DreamCon. Uh just in the little gaming gaming lounge and stuff, but Tekken 8. I do notice one of the probably best Tekken's of late. Um, I've been hearing really good things about it. I've watched people play it a lot. I've watched tournaments on it. Um, I enjoy watching it. I just I've kind of I don't play fighting games as much as I used to. I used to love fighting games, but I just don't do it as much. But to see that they're starting to cross over with some anime shows and Yu Juro being literally the strongest, like they they they they use nicknames in Baki similar to One Piece. When they call him the strongest creature on earth, like he's like that. Like, yeah, they both. I think uh I remember they they like brought back a they revived the T-Rex and he murked it. I think uh yeah, he'd be he'd be uh Mike is all about this is all about fighting and just like the craziest the craziest extent of martial arts and he's at the top, like undoubtedly.
SPEAKER_03So I'm excited.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna watch the gameplay. You know, I I I won't play it myself. Maybe DreamCon, I know it's gonna, it's they're gonna have it at DreamCon. I may uh well it's not even gonna, he's dropping in 2027, so to I guess we'll just see. I ain't gonna play him though, but I I did think that was interesting. Uh Yujiro is one of my favorite characters of that show, one of the coldest OP characters of all anime. Obviously, he's not he's not no planetary threat in terms of like scaling because it's still a martial arts show, but uh I do love his character, and he's he's him, simple as that. But that will wrap up our anime world news segment. Appreciate y'all for listening to that part. We will be diving straight into our next segment, Tales of the New World. We will be live reacting to the One Piece episode 1163 as I get that together on screen here.
SPEAKER_05Um, if y'all are listening to us, that was kind of clean. That was a keychain. Yeah, it was a keychain. Yes, sir. Straw hat.
SPEAKER_02Um if y'all are tapping into us on audio platforms, we apologize, but we will not be able to have the audio playing for copyright purposes. We will okay. We will have um kind of the visual up on our video side of things. So if y'all want to come see what we're doing, but we will try to do our best commentating while still giving a good reaction and absorbing the content.
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_02Um, so let's dive right into it. If y'all like the video if y'all haven't, like the stream if y'all haven't. 1163. I want you to praise me. The reunion of Robin and Saul.
SPEAKER_03Um Robin and the others finally arrive at the port of the Western village in Elbath.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Uh interesting title, interesting choice of words. Um, I'm excited to see this reunion on screen. I'm hoping that it's not the whole episode, but at the at the same time, we know how One Piece is, especially with the emotional moments. They like to make us uh live it, and you know, we gotta see the flashbacks of when they they used to know each other and stuff. But at the end of the day, One Piece, we've been doing very, very, very well with the anime and the consistency, so I'm looking forward to it. Uh, any thoughts before we dive into this?
SPEAKER_05Just ready to see what this is talking about. All right, let's get into it. All right, but let's get into it. I drug that oh my God. I like this. It's a W clash back. The black and white Yeah. I haven't been since I did.
SPEAKER_02Uh imagine imagine being an agent and you up and pull at an eight-year-old girl who don't got no who's running from you. And y'all are just lighting up trying to shoot her.
SPEAKER_05That's crazy. She still dunked home. She drew her her island back on the matter. Mm-hmm. Oh, for real. Is that as crazy how in real life, like, rumors just spread like this to like just cause people say one thing offered surviving your island being destroyed.
SPEAKER_02See, one thing I I feel like I don't mind about this compared to like the Bonnie and Kuma stuff. I I like Robin a lot more than Bonnie. I think we all we all do.
SPEAKER_05Obviously, she's a straw hat. So can't be too Bonnie can also kind of just came out of nowhere.
SPEAKER_02Like came out of nowhere, got a deep ass backstorm. Like they just found her on the way to Egghead and was like, oh, all right.
SPEAKER_05Literally. Yeah, so it's funny how uh we were just talking about Bonnie.
SPEAKER_02How how she like was introduced as like an op, you know, worst generation rival, whatever. And then, you know, she's she's all in her her grown body, and now she's a kid. Like everyone's old in her like. Yeah. But I do I I love that for her character, she can actually embrace being a kid instead of having to force herself to be a lot older than she is too early. Um it's a little bit like uh flip from Momo's case situation to where like he's kind of having to step into the shoes of an adult where she's kind of stepping out of that now. I mean, now at least she feels safe and she don't feel like she has to be in defense all the time. So we see her as a kid now. Momo, I mean, obviously it was a little bit different. He wanted to get his body back to the right form in order to help in that situation, but just a little opposing things with the kid, the adult type.
SPEAKER_05No catch me. The sound dude? Yeah, he's taking his job serious.
SPEAKER_03Some elbass moose. I won't even eat American moose, but I'll eat some Elbass moose.
SPEAKER_05No cap. Can't even lie to you.
SPEAKER_02So you know how like some of these uh game parks and stuff, they've been doing like one piece, like in even cafes, like one piece style meals and stuff. What if they did like a an L Bath like family meal where it's like one big ass meal, but it's just for like a group of people? But that bitch is like good as hell. Giant turkey legs, right?
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. You think that water would have the same effect as seawater? Hard to say. Probably, but it shouldn't. That looks way crazier than the manga. Oh god. Like this is not how I pictured it. That's what that tag on Titan She looked just Yeah.
SPEAKER_04That was good. That was good. That is Hans, bro. That's Ar. That gotta be Honge.
SPEAKER_03It fits, though it fits.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, the same glasses, bro. That's crazy they had to say. What's her name? I forget her name. I don't even know. She's the one that remember the orphan girl in the manga with the thorns with the what? The thorns and the mother figure, and she was like that mother figure for the orphan. Remember that? When they were about the I can't say too much. I mean, I think I have a clue on what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_02She was like, Oh, you were like a mother figure, you were the only person I had that was like a mother figure. She was like, I'm sorry for acting. The little kid, the girl.
SPEAKER_03Oh that was who he was talking to. I just don't I just don't remember her name.
SPEAKER_05I don't know why. I was thinking about it so hard. Maybe it starts with an M. Why he acting like this? I would have like farther in his face or something. That was a crazy scene for me to say that. Dang, why am I blinking on his name? Crocodile, that doesn't even affect her. Is that what? She was always a crocodile, that that saying ain't do nothing to see any flinch. Can't lie. That's what I thought was going on, you know. Damn, Robin appreciation. Some of these don't even got nothing to do with it. I'm here for it. Right. She got a little music video. Eight thousand days, is that twenty-two years? Or is that just a random? It is twenty-two years. So this song this song is very robin specific.
SPEAKER_02I seen I seen like a a post where it was like this frame and it said what what it didn't show and it flipped the camera and they had them all three of them bawling their eyes out too. Just they were just watching. Yeah. That is that. 1163. I want you to praise me. The reunion of the reunion of Robin and Saul. Give me your thoughts initially of the episode. Actually, um Wow.
SPEAKER_04As a masterpiece. I didn't like you know, I mean, it hit ten times harder in the uh the anime than the manga did. We didn't know that we were gonna even have such a big reunion uh based on the manga, but they snapped. Uh as a rating, I'll give it an admiral. It's not what I was looking for, but everything else came to store that that came with the episode and everything. It was phenomenal. Um it's looking good for One Piece, man. I'm I'm loving what they're doing here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like you said, um just to piggyback off of you, uh, everything that they did for the episode um 10 out of 10. Um, you know, the animation was great, sound effects were great, uh, emotional impact, great. Every everything was really good. Done done well. Um, like you said, just kind of a down week in terms of like the action side of things and like the intense story. This was just more obviously flashback reunion, but we got that in the name. So I can't really fault it for that. And honestly, from what I expected, I expected them to have like meet up early in the episode and then just be flashbacks the whole time and them just sitting there talking. I do like how that kind of came at the end, and towards the um beginning, we still got you know them getting on the island fully, interacting with everyone else, and then going to go do this. Um, so I do like how it was paced out and not just like us in that one spot the whole episode. That's what I was kind of expecting, so it definitely uh surpassed my expectations. Um I'm kind of on the borderline between Yonko and uh Admiral. Um same reason as you, it's why I'm leaning more towards the Admiral, but also at the same time, like I said, I feel like that episode was executed a 10 out of 10. And because of that, I think I'm gonna go Yonko just because I don't want to knock it just because it visually wasn't like action-packed or anything, or too much like story progressing. I still think for what I got for episode, it was a really good episode. I enjoyed it. I was locked in. Um, I love Robin as a character. Uh, she had one of the uh you know saddest backstories, in my opinion. One of my my favorite backstories just in terms of what she had to go through and overcome up until getting to this point. And I do feel like uh the ending kind of did fit because it's like he did survive this long. And um, unlike a lot of characters that we've seen to where you know they've had some help where they were able to find something, you know, even though there are plenty of tragic backstories in One Piece, uh, the fact that Robin was pretty much on her own since she was eight, like she had no stability up until pretty much the straw hats. And obviously we know she was in Baroque's works and stuff, but even then, you know, having a look over your shoulder, not even around people you could trust or really care for. So the fact that she went 22 years uh driving to get to that point, uh, I do really love that. And I I think this episode did a good job of of delivering. Very full circle. All I have to ask is next episode. Let's move on. They have their I don't need another like recap of them flashing back and still hugging. Like let's get to it. That's all I ask, and we're good. But I'm gonna give it a Yanko just because of that. I I I think I think it was very solid, solid episode. You know, low on the Yanko scale, maybe like a buggy level Yanko, but still Yanko. Still got the Yanko, yeah. Still got the title. Um, did you have any final thoughts on the episode? I mean, I know it wasn't too much.
SPEAKER_04Nah, I mean it's 10 or 10 for sure. Um it, you know, it's all coming together for sure. Like from the animation to the sound guide to the progression of the story. It's it's moving, and I'm loving it. Thanks.
SPEAKER_02All right. Well, that was our tales from the new world segment. Yes, sir. Um, again, we just reacted to episode 1163. Y'all are listening to us on audio platforms. Come check us out on YouTube. You can actually see the visual um a little bit because there's only so much we can commentate on while watching. We don't want to be talking the whole time. Because this again is me and Ja's first time checking out that episode. We we watch it live and raw here for y'all. Yes, sure. Um, but manga, I mean, Tales from the New World, 1163. I want you to praise me. The reunion of Robin and Saul. And one piece, y'all have not been missing. Good shit. All right, let's dive into our final segment of the evening. We will be diving into our manga mania segment where we will be breaking down and reviewing the most recent chapter. Um, chapter 1183. If y'all are our anime only watchers, we appreciate y'all for rocking with us thus far in the episode. We had a great episode. Um, a lot to talk about in the anime world news, and we had a great episode that we just reacted to. We appreciate y'all. Now, get out of here because we don't want y'all to get spoiled. This is some good stuff we're talking about. And y'all gotta, if y'all are waiting for the anime, wait for the anime. Don't get spoiled now. And if y'all want to know what's going on, get caught up in the manga. Y'all see, we only 20 chapters away from the from from this and the and well, it's not even because the chapter correlation is a little bit different, but we're on the 1183 chapter and we're on episode 1183. So y'all catch up. We're not too too far ahead, or catch up um on the next uh three-month break.
SPEAKER_06See you guys later.
SPEAKER_02Yep, I appreciate y'all for tapping in. Um, and now for our manga readers, let's get into this uh chapter. So, no cover story today. We just get a pretty cool color spread. Um, we see uh pink elephant uh using his trunk to splash uh straw hats up into the air. Um just pretty fun chill, like everybody's kind of doing what we expect them. You know, Brooks playing uh playing his guitar, gene bass cooling, Frankie's cheering, you know. Chopper's just excited to be there. Zora, of course, is drinking, uh bottoms up on the bottle. Sandi serving some serving the ladies, and then we got the ladies uh Robin doing her scholarly duties, reading, and we got Nami uh looking at a map, and then over in the corner, bottom corner, we see this the sunny in the distance, and of course, Captain Luffy.
SPEAKER_05Does that say Nika? It looks like a U. Nikku. Niku.
SPEAKER_02Um interesting that that flesh meat, okay, and then oh well, that makes sense. Well, the the meat logo is on the other side of the jacket. But um, yeah, and we got Captain Luffy in his little meat bomber jacket. Uh, you know, just being Luffy. Uh had did you have any thoughts on the color spread?
SPEAKER_04Uh uh just quick. Um the summer vibes are underway after being introduced to like the rain god and uh and almost being like hurricane season, we're getting like some aquatic vibes, it seems like. Um I like that. The make a splash. Uh also the house down there looks like Crocus' house or anything, but that's just for my brand went. Um Crocus or um what's his name?
SPEAKER_03Lagoon Stomach.
SPEAKER_02What's uh the other house? Uh damn, Nolan's Nolan's uh descendant. Or no, yeah. Uh I forget his name.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I don't remember his name either.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, that it kind of reminds me of that too. Like kind of like little single house on the island on the coast of an island, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um the ocean the ocean is beautifully drawn. I love the animation, and we got Zoro with his knees out.
SPEAKER_05Yep, yep. Um elephant like uh Zunisha size.
SPEAKER_02He's pushing it. I mean, we we see he's clearly standing up in the ocean. Uh not too far off the shore, but he looks way bigger than like at least the portion of the island that we see. Yeah. Could be could be little nephew. And there's a baby, there's a baby one that Usopp, I forgot to talk about Usopp. Uh he's you know, being Usopp, scared of the of the of, you know, fearful of what's going on. But he's clinching onto the baby, the child of this uh big elephant. But yeah, uh, let's dive right into um I'm gonna just give my long form summary.
SPEAKER_03Uh y'all bear with me.
SPEAKER_02This one was a little bit uh heavy words, like a lot of a lot of words, a lot of typing. So just bear with me if it's long-winded, but let's get into the review.
SPEAKER_05You good, duh? Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Umu says that Ragnir or says to Ragnir that it has been waiting all this time for someone who could fight back against him. So something it seems to confirm, but Loki has no idea what it what it's talking about. But more concerned, being more concerned by any opponent as as tough as Emu. Emu declares that since both Luffy and Loki cannot be corrupted to his side, he will destroy them both, just like he did with someone named Dozan. In the past, Loki then attacks with a move called Ragna Genheim, while Emu counters with the Grom, resulting in another massive explosion. In the Western village, the Zaza MMA grabs seven children, which killing him considers a suitable number as the giants try to take them back, despite Chopper warning them that his blood transfusions for all of them are not finished yet, but they all choose to accept death rather than hand their kids over. Sanji arrives at the village and sees the chaos from afar as he is about to join the battle. Meanwhile, Utop and Brooke have awoken from their awoken, and the former asks the latter why he ran off to fight Gunko, who is shown to still be stuck in Ragnar's ice by himself. Having had to go back him up because he felt something was wrong. Nami asks Brooke if he knows Gunko and if she is an enemy from his past. Brooke states that Gunko is not an enemy to him, but he did not want to ever see her again. However, now he is filled with confusion rather than anger because Gunk is if Gunko really is Shuri, then she should look like she is 77 years old. Nami reasons that it means she is a completely different she is completely different from the person he is thinking of because he explains that she was the princess of his homeland, but he lost contact with her when she traveled to Marishua. Frankie runs up to everyone to reveal that Gunko is still stuck in the ice and asks if they could just leave her like that since she is one of the enemies who attacked Elbat. But Brooke then reveals to everyone that she was the one who unwrapped him from her arrows. And while doing so, she told him to run as if she knew him, which is why he is so confused about her true identity. Only adding on to the confusion is right after Gunko told him to run, emo then took back control of her and she acted like a demon again. Based on Gunko's earlier Elitis behavior, I I typed the word and forgot. I even knew what that word was. Based on Gunko's earlier Alita's behavior, followed by her trying to save Brooke, and then with Emu's possession, Brooke says it's almost like three different personalities exist in one body, which Nami suggests is a sign she is being controlled. Something Brooke is inclined to believe as well after seeing their giant allies being turned into enemies. Of course, Jinbei states that Brooke needs to make a decision on whether Gunko lives or dies very soon. To better explain his predicament, Brooke decides to tell his crew about his life before becoming a pirate. Long ago, he lived in a kingdom called Hesperia, which according to him no longer exists. He described the place as a place filled with music, with many different shops dedicated to making all sorts of instruments. Back then, Brooke was the leader of the raider squad of Hesperia's battle convoy, and he was very close to Shuri, the kingdom's princess. He also had deep feelings for Shuri's mother, the Queen Kendell, even though she was already married to the king, Reuven. Humorously, Reuven noticed Brooke's declaration of love towards his wife, which led him to half-jokingly threaten Brooke with a death sentence for conspiracy. To defuse the situation, Shuri asked Brooke if she could marry him once she grows up. Though, he turned her down because her nose was still runny to the annoyance of Reuven. During their usual banter, a soldier soldier comes in to inform Reuven that a gang on horseback was riding through town, and the battle convoy did not have enough men to fight them off right now. Reuven asked what the invaders want and was told they seemed to be after Kendell, which made Ruven realize that the invaders were members of the Mulan family and were once again trying to capture her for their leader, Don Mulan. At that moment, Kendell was at an opera house with her Dendan Mushi on silent, meaning they had no way to contact her about the danger. So Reuven and Shuri begged Brooke to do something to save her. However, Brooke expressed no worries for two reasons. The first being that Kendall can fend for herself, and the second being that Brooke actually encountered the gangsters earlier that and had already cut them with his quick draw style technique. Though, he was surprised they had not noticed they had been cut until they finally reached the opera house. Though, after saying all of this, all of the gangsters collapsed. Afterwards, Kendell left the opera house as everyone cheered both for her and Brooks' actions and taking the gangsters down. As it revealed that is as it is revealed that both of these of them were Esperio's biggest stars, with Kendall even being the battle convoy's former captain before becoming Queen.
SPEAKER_05Alright. Chapter 1183.
SPEAKER_02Um did you have any initial thoughts or did you want to get straight into the breakdown?
SPEAKER_04Overall, uh initially, um I didn't think we'd be going straight into the brook uh flashback like that. But Oda does what he wants. Yeah, whenever he feels suit, he's gonna take us there. He took us there, boy. I don't expect it to be too long, maybe three, four, five episodes at longest, but or chapters at longest, but I'm here for the long awaited. We've all you know, we've been questioning this for a minute now, and we're finally here. Right. Um but yeah, I'll go straight into it then after that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um go ahead. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, I was just gonna real quick over what you said. I I I'm in a grievance. I'm all for it now. Uh, once I read the chapter and finished it, I was like, okay, I like where things are headed. I didn't expect or didn't think we were gonna get uh another flashback, another backstory um in this arc. But I'm not mad at it. As long as it's one, not too long, and two, you know, it makes sense with everything for now. Like going, because I feel like this could have came later, but this may tie into because we're right in the middle of Emu versus Loki. So because of that, I just wasn't expecting it. But hey, we'll see. Maybe it will all uh have its importance before the conclusion of this specific fight. But yeah, let's get into it.
SPEAKER_04Amidst the Ragnarok S battle, Emu and uh Ragnarok have their little exchange of words regarding how long it's been since their last battle. Um Ragnar.
SPEAKER_02Ragnar. What did I say, Ragnarok? Ragnarok. It's funny I've been watching Thor. I've been watching the Marvel movies like uh in order recently. And it's just funny that you said Ragnarok.
SPEAKER_04I'm not sure if I've even watched the full one full of that. I need to read. What the full timeline? Oh Thor, yeah. Oh, Thor. Is that the one where he fights his sister?
SPEAKER_03Ragnarok? I can't remember. Alright, so Ragnarok, I think Hulk was in.
SPEAKER_02That's the Hulk one, yeah. It's not his sister was uh Love and Thunder. What was it called? Love and Thunder, I think. Yeah, I didn't watch that one yet. Yeah. Um honestly, I would say what go on you you got Disney Plus? Yeah. Go on Disney Plus, and they have all the like MC Universe movies in order, like from like where they take place in the timeline, yeah. Not not when they came out. I would say I'm like I'm on episode episode, I'm on like the ninth movie, tenth movie. I just finished Iron Man 3, and that was the ninth movie. So I've watched two of the Thor's so far. Um, Hulk, all three Iron Man's, First Avengers, Captain First Captain America, Captain Marvel, yeah. Hey, watching them like back to back to back. I know this is like we're talking about manga right now, and we just kind of got off back. Bro, watching them all back to back to back, like you forget how like you know how connected they are, but when they were coming out, like one movie came out 2009, one movie's coming out 2001. So they're so spread out, it's just like, bro, they're hand to hand. Like I'm watching them back to back, and it's like the events take place right after this. Just like, yo, this is crazy. They're mentioning stuff that like when I was watching it when they these movies first came out, they're mentioning stuff that I didn't catch from the old movies because it's like years ago. It's like, bro, they just mentioned something that I watched 20 minutes ago in the last movie. But yeah, I I think it's worth like this is my first time watching it this way, like consistently just binging it, and I'm enjoying how intertwined everything is. I will say that. So for sure. I advise I advise it. Good watch, good watch. But yeah, uh him and Ragnir still talking about it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, just regarding how long it's been since the last battle and how uh Ragnir has been waiting on basically someone worthy enough to go against Moo again. Uh we get a little rebuttal by Ragnir popping his shit.
SPEAKER_02Man, I need I need I need a Ragnir translator around, man. I know he's talking shit, bro. He's talking hot shit.
SPEAKER_04I'm here for it all. Um Loki's still in like awe about uh how like resistant uh emu's been to his attacks this far. Um he might be back into his corner right now. I don't know. He might get laid out soon. A haymaker might be coming to yeah, you better watch that haymaker.
SPEAKER_02It's it's crazy because I was kind of thinking that too. I'm just like, the longer this fight drags on, and the like do we still like yeah, umu's breathing, breathing a little heavily. They both are breathing heavily, but I feel like that's worse for Loki than Emu, because Emu's gonna be like, all right, now it's time to finish this. Like, I'm actually this is dragging on. I feel like he has more of a uh access to have an ability that just like ends it quicker. So yeah, I'm I'm I'm kinda in agreement with you.
SPEAKER_04And then finally we get uh Emu referring to our Yanko Luffy and the Prince of Elbath as their current day names and not like their predecessors and the plans to extinguish them as he did next page.
SPEAKER_02I just realized I didn't have the manga page on the screen for y'all, my bad. It's there now. We only own the second page though, so we good. Just flash it, flash real quick, flash.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, first page. First page, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Pause it if you yeah. Um just like Dozon. Thoughts on Dozon? Is Dozon's will, the will of D.
SPEAKER_02I've heard that. I've seen that uh circulating amongst the community. Um I've heard uh people people question if uh Dozon was just the past user of the Needhogger fruit, like that was his actual name. Um I've seen a I've seen a few things circulating amongst the community. It's Joy Boy's name, Dozon. Um, I guess I'm if if I did have to like lean towards one, I would probably lean towards maybe just the best uh user of the Need Hogger. Um but I don't I I don't I don't know. It you know, it's kind of crazy. Whenever whenever Emu drops like uh a lore point, it's always it always feels like it hits different because it's like clearly he knows the whole story.
SPEAKER_03And so and you always gotta take it with a grain of salt because he's gonna spin it to how his point of view was.
SPEAKER_02But um I'm interested to see like who Dozon is. It just seems like we're we're still getting surprised. Like we're like emu descended a few chapters ago, and we're still getting surprised with like new stuff that we're just like, whoa, what? And obviously we expect that, but new names to be thrown around. I wasn't expecting that at least.
SPEAKER_04As we get uh Emu summoning a huge blade within his own men, and another epic clash between Loki and Mu Ragnadual Heim and Blade of Rathgram. This when this gets animated, bro, this is gonna be animated, yeah. All these clashes that we've been getting recently, the sky, you know, is storming, the hockey's gonna be booming.
SPEAKER_02Can I give you a potential breakdown of what we may get in 2027, bro? Talk to me. Bro, top of 2027, we'll probably get God Valley. So the end of this year, I'm expecting the Herald flashback to start. Next year, when they when they take their break for the at the end of the year for the next season going on um next 20's top of 2027, around this time 2027, we'll be getting God Valley and stuff. And maybe probably the remainder of Harold's backstory. So we'll probably be getting this by the end of next year, bro. But like top to bottom, both like sets of seasons or how how the anime likes to call it, the cores, those two sets of cores, like top of 2027 and bottom between the flashback and then this current LBF. I don't think any anime is gonna touch it. Like, I mean, I know we're gonna get some good good stuff because Jujutsu Kazan's gonna end uh wrap up next year.
SPEAKER_03We're gonna get solo leveling, we're getting a lot next year, but it's gonna be very hard to like compete with what we're gonna be getting from this, man.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Like from Rocks to Harold to even St. Roger and them.
SPEAKER_04I feel like furthering their progression and getting used to the stuff that they've been doing, and it just be so much routine, and then just be bringing out the best of everything. Yes, so like yeah, I feel you, bro.
SPEAKER_02We're eating, man. We're eating. It's gonna look so good. It's gonna look so good. Then the colors and stuff. Oh my gosh, I'm I can't wait. I can't wait. And it's like, I love the manga, man. I love reading, and I love the manga, but how can y'all just be manga only out there? Some of y'all bash the anime and like it's it within good reason sometimes, like any any one piece anime fan can admit the flaw in the pacing and stuff in early on and stuff, but it's still peak, man.
SPEAKER_04What are we doing here? What are we doing here, man? Can't call yourself like a real fan if you didn't sit through it and you know what I'm saying, and yeah, still enjoy the moments that were presented to us. Like, yeah, there's a lot of within the how shitty you want to drag this pacing thing out, there are a lot of yeah, literally, like there are so much, like, just so much peak within like that's why I tell everyone.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, if that's all y'all gotta say about it, is that it's long, then y'all either haven't seen the show or y'all have like y'all have no reason to hate. Yeah. And and I I'm I'm oh I understand that people view things differently. There's shows that I like that y'all don't like. There's shows that y'all like that I don't like. I don't expect everyone to have the same feeling about one piece, but there's no, there's just no way that people can walk around saying it's trash and saying, you know, it's not a good show, it's mid, mid piece, whatever the case, like you can't slap those titles on this on this piece of work. You can't do it. I don't care how high or low you think of it, like the numbers speak for itself. The community speaks for itself. Like you you you just can't say it's trash, but hey, people will always find a way. How does it take you more than 2,000 or 1,000 episodes to find the One Piece? Like, well, if you knew what the journey was, then you would you wouldn't be asking. You would be like, shoot, I hope you don't find it for another 1,000 episodes. Like, man, if if I had the luxury to choose to be able to just have something continue until I'm going to like just over the course of my life, just keep going and just giving us staying on this level of peakness, and I do it every time, bro. I don't care how long it is, it's so good. This is gonna be amazing, animated. But uh yeah, real quick, on where were you done with this section before we get into the Western Village part? No, I go straight back to the Western Village.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, um, just my thoughts.
SPEAKER_02Um Loki gotta get some respect. I've been hearing around the community where people still like don't know where to scale Loki. Like we don't have to break down like where he versus in you know, dead or alive, but alive he's he's top five strongest. Uh it's it's like, yeah, and it it's it's it's clear as day. He's I do feel like this fight has been dragged on a little bit longer than uh expected, I'll say. But props to Loki for being as durable. I mean, what you expect, but he's also going against Emu. You know, for what we know, top one in the whole verse. And we've seen Emu breeze through everybody, and this is his buffer here. Um, despite emu has gotten distracted by his emotions here and there, and he's been talking and giving us lore, they've been conversing throughout the fight. Loki, you know, here they're both huffing and puffing. Um and Loki, Loki's still standing. I don't know how much longer he will be, but I I I just feel like uh some of the uh disrespect uh that I've seen with Loki is a little bit unwarranted. Um people like to use that he's been chained up for so long, so maybe he's not a master with his hockey and stuff. He's utilize he's utilizing it well enough. Yet he hasn't landed any significant blows that have like done noticeable damage to emu. But he's fighting, he's he's holding his own. Um, I'm still kind of on the fence, and I'm only just getting this all out the way because this is the last part we see for Loki and Emu throughout the rest of the chapter. After that, it's uh more into the backstory and everything. But I'm still on the boat of I don't think emu's gonna stay much longer here, and I I still don't think Luffy's gonna uh play much of a role in this interaction. I think this is good for us to see Loki versus Emu, and then um move on. Maybe Emu do some sort of significant blow to to Loki, which puts him out of commission, and then we progress from there, and then like that would be Luffy's sign to like, whoa, he messed up Loki like this, like he must be really strong or something like, you know, and I just don't I I just don't want too much of an interaction between Emu and Lofi. Luffy yet not yet.
SPEAKER_05But um going on to the lesson series. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I think b I think I think Blackbeard is uh competitor for the One Piece, which we know Black P Blackbeard is going for the world piece. We know Blackbeard is going for like you know, his goal is the world Black Piece. Oh, I forgot to add in the anime world news segment, Zorro is getting a spin-off. I saw that. Uh I'll I'll have it actually in my notes for next week so we could talk about it in that segment, and all our anime watchers will hear us talk about that. And I actually was typing it and I had deleted it because I wanted to reword it, and I just I was so tired this morning. My mind just went on to the next next thing and I just forgot about it. That just made me think once he said spin-off. But we know Blackbeard's goal is to throne, but I I personally feel like he's still a one piece rival for Luffy. I feel like their fight will come before for the one piece, and then once they get the one piece, that's gonna be the key to defeating Emu. And then that's when that final that's how I vision it, envision it. Oh yeah. A lot of people do expect that Blackbeard will somehow somehow snake his way to the top, you know, to Emu's position to um end up becoming that final final villain. I'm not against that. I just don't see it. I'm not uh too much of a fan of it. I still like Emu to be the final boss. But yeah, uh going into the Western village. Zaza.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. We see those still uh this is not I mean I'll say this first. The rain god is in full effect, but the parents of the giant kids throughout this entire battle have shown so much fortitude and courage as they should be as they should be being warriors of the past and uh just further supports the spirit and how they carry themselves throughout history as people even even if they're you know outmatched as of right now. Um with the art we still see these these sounds that are you know very not too familiar, but to go further to show like there might be a relation here with uh old boy dragon. Uh-huh. But just you know, stepping back and this whole page as a whole, Oda is drawing his ass off, bro.
SPEAKER_02Man, this art style, this artwork, it's beautiful. Um, I love the design of Zaza. Um, like I said last week, it is just a sleep tid MMA of Killingham's imagination. So this may not specifically be what uh Zaza's true form is, but I'm loving this design thus far. It's clean. Uh we get a few, we get a few spreads. Like we just seen the the clash between Emu and Loki. We get this two-page spread with Zaza taking over. Um, I think we get another one in the flashback. Yeah, yeah, Oda's Oda's detail has been out of this world.
SPEAKER_04Even with like the parents up top, like that was this is fire. Very like, I don't know, straw hat reminiscent to me.
SPEAKER_02Like, they're just doing their thing, bro. Being great parents. I love that, you know. Yeah, they talking about you're gonna die. Uh you're not ready to fight. And they like, die. So if they take my kids, what's the point of living? You know, what's the point of me sitting here to try to recover? They just take my kids. So, um, and Rip Ripley leading the charge for the parents again. Uh, there go, there go Miss Hanj. But uh, nah, for real. Um, yeah, like you said, Oda's drawing his ass off. It's crazy how huge this MMA is compared to these giants, like almost like how the giants were making the straw hats look in the episode, and now it's kind of reversed. They're just like everything's just so huge in this uh on this island right now.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um yeah, and then we get Sanji closing in on the village finally. He's kind of taking his time.
SPEAKER_02Supposed to be one of the fastest in the verse over here, cruising. Yeah, yeah. I think that's just goes to one, it shows you how fast Emu was moving when he first pulled up. He was on timing. Um, and two, I think it just also goes to show just how vast LBAF is. Like, Sanji, one of the fastest people. He's man on a mission, despite, yeah, he is a little bit injured. Um, but also at the same time, like we we haven't seen injury too much like affect uh the straw hats when they're determined. So I can't really can't really uh use that as an excuse. So I just think that goes to show just how fast it is as a uh island.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and I mean he did he is relatively close now, so yeah it's not like he's still far away. But yeah, um I kind of read this whole page up. I didn't like go down in order.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um Brooke basically torn between uh enemy or friend on the topic of Gunko. Uh the straw hacks deducting whether uh to trust her or not or to leave her to let her die or try to kill her. Um they come to the conclusion that she's probably being controlled uh based on the actions that book Brooke tells her uh everybody about. Um shout out Usopp for even like picking up on Brooke was you know taking off and at least going to a company, bro. Uh just uh a nice kumbaya by the straw has actually coming together. We always, you know, like they don't ever not that they don't ever, but like you can see the growth within the the squad now they're like coming together and talking and playing out. And uh just a nice kumbaya, well much needed in in the uh the situation they're in right now. So yeah, um yeah, as we roll into the long awaited Brooke flashback, but say your piece.
SPEAKER_02Um if anything, this part did catch me by surprise a little bit, the fact that this ice uh block that Gunko's in is still intact and um her life is still preserved because even when a few chapters ago, when Killingham and Summers both first got the omen, they brought up Gunko. And um I think it was Killingham who's who said, like, I think she's you know, I think she's pretty much done by this point. So they they they thought she died and everything um because of the explosion that emu had caused. And it just goes to show that Loki wasn't playing. Uh Ragnir is the only thing that uh from what we know that um can break this ice. Uh, I did see some stuff amongst the community, people comparing this giant ice block to ponoglyphs, because we know um how durable ponoglyphs are, and nobody can can break them or anything like that. So a lot of people were just pointing out the similarities, you know, the giant cube, cube-like form. Um on the birth shot at shot his omen at it, and you know, we see that once the smoke cleared, no damage done at all. So um, I I just thought it was interesting. I don't I didn't really have too many thoughts on like comparing that to Poneglyph, but I just thought it was interesting amongst the community, and uh not too much to repeat anything which you said, but um just a controversy in Brooke's head uh trying to figure out what the deal is with her, um and the Straw Hats just being so in tune that they did notice that there was some some sort of connection there between Brooke and Gunko.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, because of course at the time it was kind of portrayed that it was very subtle just between them two, but everyone else did notice. Um, and then last but not least, I just thought it was the ending of this page was pretty funny how uh Brooke was like, yeah, she was the one who untied us, and Usopp in his head, he thought he did it. Yeah. I I I just thought that part was funny, but um I did, you know, tip my hat to Usopp a little bit, standing up for his crewmate at the end of the day. Uh wish we got a little bit more of this from Usopp, um, especially this arc, but well, he's he's stood on 10 a little bit, this arc more. But I I I wish we got it a little bit more, you know. Uh instantly what pops into my head is um the situation with uh Ulti and Nami and Usopp, and she was trying to get them to say that Luffy's not gonna be the pirate pirate king. And it's like, you know, in this situation, he's he sees Brooke and he's like, let me go back my guy up and stand up for my my crewmate. And then like that situation is like, damn, you was willing to fold for your cat then. So I mean it shows some growth. Um, but like I said, I do wish we we kind of got this side of him earlier. But hey, it makes sense. This is Elbath, this is the home of the brave warriors that he's always looked up to since um he learned about them. So I do like seeing that if he is gonna get anything, he's he's at least shown a little bit of courage on this arc. Yeah, um, even from the beginning when the sleep tides were attacking, and he's just like, yo, what's going on? This is supposed to be a war warrior nation. Like, why are we not fighting back? Where where's our you know sense of uh you know pride, warrior pride and stuff? So we even got that mindset kind of trickling in earlier on in this arc, and we're still continuing to see it. I just hate for Usopp's sake that we still are getting more feats from some of the other straw hats, other than him, in terms of actual combat feats. But his bravery, he's been he's been doing better with that.
SPEAKER_03I do do like that. Um last were you about to dive straight into the flashback?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't I'm I go straight into the um just the la last thing on this before we get into the flashback. Just uh how Brooke noticed the three different sides uh to her personality. But when she was getting when she got there, clearly she was Gunko, she wasn't possessed, but she was on a mission like Celestial Dragon Gunko, and then she switches to uh Shuri almost, if if if if I may. Uh she kind of switches to that for for a little bit, and she's like helping, and then she switches to the emu's uh possessed form, and that was the last uh Brooke scene of her. So I can I can understand how in his head it's just so confusing and so um bothersome to him because uh he's seen all three different phases of her. I don't think uh some people in the community were kind of thinking, oh, the three, you know, three, how how that's a theme in One Piece. And I was like, I don't think that this is that. I did see that circling amongst the community a little bit. I feel like it was just actually just three different sides of you know her personality at the time, you know, because let's say Brooke wasn't there and regular celestial dragon, uh holy knight Gunko comes to the scene, she's just trying to fulfill her mission like the rest of them. I feel like that uh interaction with Brooke snapped her out of that, and then Emu had to take control before she she fully snapped out. So I just think it's three parts of you know what happened and and her mission, but I don't think it has anything to do with the quote unquote theme of three.
SPEAKER_05But that was all I had uh before this um flashback. Yeah, so I kind of summarized this uh this as well.
SPEAKER_04Um the flashback of the page, because I'll kind of the flashback page ish, just beginning. Not much going on here. We get the intro to Young Brooke um as we expected at 4 a.m. 70 years ago in the West Blue, uh singing his heart out. Um I do wanna say Oh, the name of the chapter changed and what he was yeah, the name of the chapter changed it from Good Morning Mermaid to Good Morning Maid. Oh, was that the original song? Yeah, that's his that's the song he's singing is Good Morning Maid. But then later he goes to say good morning about uh how he wish not on the next page, how he wishes um to meet a sexy mermaid someday. And as we get young Brooke uh hitting the Nicopose over the Aspiria Kingdom. Um I thought that plano was so clean. Um Yeah. Uh I do like the landscape of this older country as well. Yeah. Um Young Brooke looking a little too much like baby Blackbeard.
SPEAKER_02Um, I kinda got a young Aokee. But Blackbeard, I see it too. I see it too.
SPEAKER_03That too.
SPEAKER_04Um and they're like, you know, I like I mentioned, I had to say it that way because my next point. Uh they're both from the West Blue, so I was like, oh, maybe there's something there. Um not too much. Uh we get the arrival of the gangster pirates running through the kingdom. I wonder if they're gonna be related to the pirates, uh the gangster pirates that we've heard of and or know in the series thus far. Uh beige, right? Beige, and then they mentioned on Rox's crew, he had a gangster. Yep, he did. Um, and then they within the beige, and and then they mentioned some other families.
SPEAKER_02So I wonder, uh, obviously Oda takes a lot of inspiration. And um here in American history, uh, we have the American crime families, the five, the five major uh crime families. So I wonder if it's if it's similar to that. Um and whole cake when we see when we see uh a lot of beige, we we do kind of get that, I kind of get that uh vibe, the just mafioso family um vibe. And I wonder if uh some of these other houses, or not houses, um families, crime families were kind of uh you know, similar, or if they all like played a role as in the five crime families of the One Piece world.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, that that that is interesting. I didn't think when I first read that, I didn't think like, oh yeah, there's more crime families than this. I was just kind of thinking about uh just this at this specific time, but yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Um I also heard around the community people kind of saying the king, uh Reuven kind of looks like a Davy member, possibly.
SPEAKER_05But okay, okay. Um also saw some Dawn and Dusk thing talking about uh why Gunkka wears her face wrap current day is because her snotty ass knows.
SPEAKER_04Um I heard something about that too.
SPEAKER_05Um That's funny. Um not too much. He's gonna be a good one.
SPEAKER_03Were you done on this on this page? Yeah. Um I think I'm on the next page. Okay. Uh I didn't have much.
SPEAKER_02I've I did kind of like um I do like the dynamic between the king and Brooke. They kind of have like a uh sarcastic, you know, relationship. Obviously, Brooke's in love with the king's wife, and the queen, the the king, you know, makes him jokingly remarks about him, and then Sherry's offering to marry him. And you would think, as a dad of a seven-year-old, you would want a 20-year-old to say, No, I'm not marrying you. But when Brooke denies it, he like gets pissed off. He's like, You are you too good for my daughter? Like, how are you gonna turn down my daughter? So um, I did like that dynamic, it was funny. Um, and then we get kind of like a uh aerial view of the island and and everything. Always always like that. But yeah, moving on to oh, and um I did always I was a little bit I was unsure at first, like if the if Gunko's eye was like a thing that happened, you know, post holy night or whatever, or was anything specific to her covenant form or something. But um we see that she she's been like the she's had this uh special, you know, alternate eyes and stuff. So that was something that I was uh a little bit unsure of, but we kind of get a confirmation here.
SPEAKER_04I did not even realize her eyes too much. She has like two moons in her eyes. Yin and yang. One with like basically, dang. One with like the sun and one with maybe like a moon or something. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_04Um that's a good thought. Um go back to the other page. Also, one more thing. What was I thinking? Um, nothing.
SPEAKER_06Don't worry about it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we get like uh an epic or farmin moment from Brooke as the gangsters try to go for the queen and with swiftness, uh Brooke cuts them down before they even knew themselves.
SPEAKER_05Um that's yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um always thought that was clean. Uh cool to see that Brooks always kind of been a master of that and has been a relative elite fighter, you know, at least amongst his his peers. Um there's been a lot of mystery uh around Brooke, and that was one of his major moves early on, and now we've kind of seen him transition into more of this ice, ice uh abilities, and I'm still interested in that. But um seeing that he was still this strong to handle handle some people like this, I think that was uh really clean. Like you said, Aura Farmin. Uh Cook's character is just so funny, and you see his personality still like so uh fruitful, even though it's been like a 70-year gap. You know, he's still he's still very uh he's a lively character, and like everyone's freaking out, and he's just like, oh yeah, I did see them earlier. They were they were by the coast. I I I passed them earlier, and then he kind of was just like nonchalant. I guess they I guess they didn't realize they were cut yet. So I I do like that uh aspect to Brooke. And one thing I thought was funny, uh the um mob members are matching their zebra striped horses in the pinstripe uh bits. And I I I just thought that was funny because they said it's a horse. Horseback gang. And then you go to sea, and it's like the horses they're riding on are all zebras. And they're they're wearing the pinstripe uh you know mob mob fits. But um yeah, here when they get cut down, end of the chapter. Final thoughts.
SPEAKER_04And introduction to Brooks Love and the previous leader of the battle convoy, Queen Condell. Um just overview of what they got going on.
SPEAKER_02No fuck that. Queen Condell. Top three baddie in the show. Undeniably. Mania. I seen her, I was like, oh, hey, oh, nah, she she she a baddie. I I I just had to get that out. But yeah, keep going, my bad.
SPEAKER_04You're good. Um just an overview of them real quick. They got even I know it's 70 years ago, but they're looking very holy night-ish.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna say I I I wanted to see if you brought that up first, but that was a point I had to, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um Brooke mentions earlier that um the last time he seen uh Shuri. Shuri was when she had to leave for Marijwa. Um even I know it's seven like I said, I know it's 70 years ago. Even the cutlass style blades that they're using are like ones we've seen rocks handle and sh I think it's a little Shanks-esque, a little bit not too much, but um just blades from the past, like I just feel like they might, I don't know, have something to do with maybe a um relationship they have with the the Holy Land or anything like that. Maybe um but yeah, just it just instantly she looks like she looks like uh Shamrock kinda. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um I was kinda gonna just to piggyback off that specific point, I was thinking the same thing. Um right when I seen the fit. I was like, Queen or Holy Knight? But um we know she was the leader of the um or she she was in Brooks position, the leader of the Raider Squad uh before or no, uh she was the captain of the battle convoy before uh she became the queen.
SPEAKER_05And um I was wondering, you know, we have seen we have seen um people from the Holy Land, celestial dragons and stuff.
SPEAKER_02We've seen a small history of them coming down to live amongst the commoners and stuff. At first I kind of had the thought of maybe you know that was her origin, and uh maybe she was a holy knight or something along those lines, related relation with the holy knight knights, and maybe that's why now Gunko is like maybe she went into hiding or something, but it's hard to it's hard to imagine that because she is the queen. It's not like she's trying to just lay low, she she's the queen. But just you know, my my mind running when I first seen this, uh maybe maybe why Gunko is where she is now is because she's having to like repay what her mother, or you know, we we we know even Brooke, he mentioned earlier in this chapter that uh spirit kingdom no longer exists. So I'm just like there had to be some sort of uh turmoil, and maybe it does surround Candel. I imagine she has bright blue hair like Gunko, like Vivi, like Lily. Um maybe, maybe it just has something, you know, maybe 70 years ago she was the prize for Preemu and uh he couldn't get Candel, so he got Gunko instead. I I you know, I don't know.
SPEAKER_05I just just just some headcanon surrounding that.
SPEAKER_02Um I do like the aspect of One Piece, how you know the top tiers are have you know all these fan bases all the time and uh we kind of see that the stars of the Hesperia Kingdom was both her, Kendell, and and and Brooke. Um and I do like the fact that Brooke was someone of some importance back in his day. It's kind of weird because like he goes from this to just being a musician on the on the pirate crew, um to where he's still a musician on the pirate crew, but how do you feel about the trend that all of these every single specific straw hat is just like has this utmost importance now?
SPEAKER_03Uh like I mean except like who, Nami? But we don't know. Nami's right now, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um Chopper doesn't have too much, but he was planned on becoming someone.
SPEAKER_02I I I I don't consider I consider Chopper once we seen him knock out a dome reverse he oh well yeah, I think he like yeah, he he was like growing up, he wasn't anybody of importance. But I I I feel like because Zoro being tied to Wano country, Robin being who she is, we just seen that in the episode, no need to talk about that. Frankie being the only one who has the Pluton um variant or blueprints in his head, and being the one uh or one of the two pupils of the man who built the pirate the first Pirate King ship. Um I mean Usopp, not too much, but his dad being uh top commander on a Yonko crew, uh Sanji being who he is, Ben Smoke, Sanji. Um who am I missing? And now Brooke, Jean Bay being Fishman, being being a major player in like the transition of Fishman Island and and its role in the current current day. Uh yeah, it's like everybody kind of has that importance. Um I like it, but I don't. I'm a I'm impartial to it. I don't feel like everybody needs that. But um because One Piece is so parallel driven, and we just don't see that with any other crew besides Rox's crew, like where he had everyone was I mean, but Luffy's so much compared to Roger. We do see similarities in Luffy and Rox. I see a lot more similarities in Luffy and Rox than uh Blackbeard and Rox. And obviously, we see the similarities in Roger as well. Um, but I think that also plays into a part of I consider Luffy to be the true definition of a pirate in the One Piece world. Blackbeard is a true pirate because he's a snake, and I feel like that's very pirate-like. But with Conquerors and with the top pirates of this verse, we kind of see them to be more like not necessarily like Luffy, because Luffy, as much as he doesn't like to be a hero, he does save a lot of people. But we we see them a lot more free, a lot more uh strong willed, whereas Luffy, like in comparison to Rox and Roger, the the top tiers of the of the old generation, whereas now, you know, Blackbeard is showing us a different side to being a pirate. But um I say all that to say I'm impartial to the everyone being super, super important. And like it's funny because like, you know, Brooke's been on the crew for two years, he's just now talking about it now when he sees Gunko. It's like he never wanted to talk about this before. It's like all these people, Sanji never wanted to talk about his past and stuff like that. It's just like, do we need like because we came so far with them, do we need them all to have this deep, meaningful backstory? I'm not knocking at all. I love Brooke as a character, and I love his importance, and I'm I I think this backstory is setting up to be great. But I just I was when I was reading, I was just like, damn, does every straw hat have to be like of this specific bloodline or a specific moment in history that's just so pivotal to now like is it too much?
SPEAKER_04You know, like with it being the you know the main character's crew and they're now a Yonko crew, and and like I like what you said about kind of like in a way rivaling Rox's crew with them all having being someone of you know importance importance to the future. Uh not that the Straw Hats will be and split up and be like who the Rox pirates be were. But I I I get down with it, I like it. Um I've been wanting to find out this backstory for a long time, and all the other ones were were pretty good. They're not too much. Like Zorro is a little dry. He got the whole one thing.
SPEAKER_02We'll we'll we'll get into that because that spin-off is supposed to be surrounding surrounding Zoro's backstory.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02I think I think I guess Oda was like, we're too far gone from Zoro. Like Zoro was the first straw hat. So it's like we're too.
SPEAKER_04I think we might have reported on this a while ago, actually. That kind of like the spin-off thing kind of sounds familiar.
SPEAKER_02No, we they're they're doing a spin-off of about the women in One Piece. Um, what's it called? One Piece uh Harems or something like that. Um they are doing another spin-off surrounding like the female cats.
SPEAKER_04Maybe in a SBS. He oh he mentioned like I don't remember, I don't remember talking about that barred on Zorro's backstory. I don't recall. I'll uh I'll bring it up next episode.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we'll talk because we'll talk more specifically about that, but yeah.
SPEAKER_04But I I I enjoy it. Um it's just you know, putting the pieces together for me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I I I agree.
SPEAKER_04And I expect them, you know, they're gonna be the crew to actually find the One Piece, so they gotta be somewhat of a heavy hitter.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Gotta have something going for them. And it's all it's all been fate. Yeah. That they all met. So I like that theme.
SPEAKER_02I do. I do. I I I guess I was just more so I was just like, it's just, and I guess you using the word of fate, it puts a little bit of a clearer image in my head. Because I was like, all the straw hats just so happen to end up on the same crew, and then they're all happened to be like super important, like pieces in the past or the future, um, or tied, you know, bloodline, some some way, shape, or form tied to a major event. Okay, because because uh the average person in the One Piece world is just a regular person, and just the fact that all of these people from crazy bloodlines, and even they might not fully know their full history and roots, but they're just all but it fate is a great, and that's what the theme we've seen a lot in the show, story, especially as of lately. We we've seen a lot of fate uh revolving things, so I'll take that as a as a answer. That's that's a good response. It it is fate. Um, I do like it. I'm not knocking it. I love backstories, and I love backstories for characters that I care about more. So it, I do, I'm not knocking it at all. I was just like, and this is one we expected. Brooke's the oldest person on the on the crew. Like, we knew he had some lore that, like, we know he couldn't have just been a pirate, just a a lowly old musician. Like, we we we've all kind of been speculating that since we m met Brooke. We're like, hold on. Yeah, he this can't be it. Like, we know you know, you've lived this long. You've you've been all these legends have come and gone, you know, over the course of your lifetime. Like we we kind of expect it. So um, I like that. I like it. I do, I do, hey, this backstory was out of nowhere. Uh, in terms of where it was placed in this chapter, we kind of I kind of expected it to get when we first uh seen the interaction between Brooke and Gunko, but we're getting it now. Um I've learned not to question Oda too much and just let the man cook. So that's what we're doing. Uh, you had any final thoughts on the chapter? Give me your rating, give me your uh conclusion.
SPEAKER_04Call me, you know, by surprise, I give it Admiral. Uh, I'm glad that we finally got to uh this flashback for Brooke. I feel like it's gonna lead us in a nice way, and it'll be you know, lore lore field. So yeah. Um great starting place for whatever. Yeah. Um the art style, I love the art style. Like Oda, like I don't know. I don't know. I'm just amazed at every chapter. Like it's it's I feel like it's just getting better and better. Like I'm appreciating more and more things about manga itself with within Oda's uh writing. So yeah.
unknownFor sure.
SPEAKER_04He's just been cooking for me.
SPEAKER_02So definitely. Um I'm gonna give it an admiral too. Same reasons. Uh, I'm not gonna repeat all the stuff you said. I agree. Uh pretty much with everything you said. He's been he's been snapping. Um everything about this was a 10 out of 10. The only reason I'm bringing it down is because uh it wasn't too too too eventful. Right now, we're setting the stage for the backstory, and then we wrapped up uh well not wrapped up, but we we just kind of got a glimpse of like what's currently going on prior to him getting into this backstory. So it it was a lot, but it wasn't a Yonko. But I I I have some faith that what we're probably gonna get into for this uh next few chapters, like like you said, I only expect this to go for maybe another three, four chapters with this uh backstory, hopefully not like a long, dragged-out two, three-month backstory, but which I don't expect it to be. But um this does prolong Elbath a little bit in my head, because I was thinking we're like really approaching the end, and I we still are, but this uh fleshes it out a few more weeks at least. But I I this him setting this up here, I do kind of think once we come out of this, he was gonna be like about to be on his way out. I I don't think we're gonna get too much more of that after this, but we'll see. Um, Admiral episode, I mean, Admiral chapter. I rated the episode a Yanko. Jack gave that one an Admiral as well. Um, I don't really plan on doing anything significant with my setup until towards the middle of June. Um, this is gonna be one of the last things I move. But with that being said, there may potentially not confirm, but there may be a week where we just have to skip just because stuff's not set up.
