Oh my god. Yo, yo, yo, yo. I saw the perfect timing, yo. I was just about to get things kicking, then you popped up in the frame right when I started. So welcome, y'all. Welcome, y'all, to episode 28 of the Poneglyph Podcast, where we decode the world of One Piece and anime one Poneglyph at a time. I'm your host, Jay, aka Milky Way J here with my brother, my co-host, every single time. My dog Jod. How you doing, bro? What's up, y'all? Welcome back. Yeah, welcome back. Um, so we definitely missed last week. I've been ultra busy in the process of moving. It's funny because like my setup still looks the same and everything, but on everything on the other side of this camera is like way different. I've been in the process of moving. Um, with that being said, next Sunday is like my big move day, so I I won't be available for that specific day, but anytime throughout the week when Everman Ja uh figure out we're gonna be doing next week's episode because I know we do have a chapter next week. And also, um this is kind of like a sidebar, but just not really world news. I I didn't include this in the news, but so you're saying there's no there's gonna be no break with the anime episodes? Did you see that?
SPEAKER_04I did not see any of that.
SPEAKER_03You you know how they originally said it was gonna be broken into two parts over the year? They're just gonna run them straight, and then we're just gonna get another three-month break at the end of the year up until April, similar to how it was. Alrighty. So we're like they're they're not they're not stopping. It's just coming, yeah. Yeah, we're just gonna keep getting, so we're gonna get what 24 or 26 episodes? Yeah, 24 episodes. Um, we'll be getting straight, and then we're gonna get another three-month break, kind of like we did at the end of last year. That's just at the end of the year. Wow.
SPEAKER_04That's uh curveball.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, um, I seen that I think I seen that not too long after we got off of last episode, like within that that day time frame of us getting off that episode. I seen that, which was interesting to me. Um it's kind of like mixed feelings. I don't really know how to feel about it personally because it's like, yeah, we get it straight, but then okay, we're gonna get another. We're we're still gonna have to wait either way.
SPEAKER_04So yeah, I mean, but hey, I mean up into DreamCon and shit. Oh, yeah, probably that means we'll catch a week indefinite this time.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Um, but that was a little sidebar. So today's episode, we will be diving straight into anime world news. We can say that was a little teaser for the anime world news, I guess. And then after that, we'll be uh jumping into our Tales of the New World segment, where we will be live reacting to episode 1164, which we missed last week, and 1165, which just came out today. Um, I'm actually kind of happy that we're doing it this way because I did reread these chatters or just skimmed through the chapters that these cover. And uh it's like still right at right before everything like turns up. I think these two episodes will blend good together instead of breaking them up anyway. So we'll dive into that, and then we'll wrap up our episode with the latest manga chapter that dropped last week, 1184, um, in our manga mania segment. So we will be finishing up the episode on that. If y'all are here live with us, make sure y'all smash that like button, subscribe if y'all are new, and leave a comment down below for us. Even if y'all are catching us on the vibe, do the same. Audio platforms, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, Amazon, wherever y'all are listening to us, we appreciate y'all. Y'all on the go, but y'all still rocking with us. Make sure y'all leave us a five-star rating when y'all get a chance, and a good review, a good review will make sure to get back to y'all on that. But we got a jam-packed episode today. Um, any thoughts before we get started in our anime world news, Joe?
SPEAKER_04No, um, I after the episode I was seeing like or it was during the break week um that we took uh with the episode that we're gonna watch and include. I was kind of shocked. I didn't realize that's where we were.
SPEAKER_03But uh um I think I think they said I seen something. I don't know if they were including it because it was a couple days ago. I don't know if it was included with this episode, but I think we're three away before the the first deck starts.
SPEAKER_04It's on the way, I don't know. Yeah, yeah. So it's about to tee up.
SPEAKER_03I can't know I'm gonna say we're getting no break. We're just gonna roll through. Yeah, like that's kind of like uh like I'm loving it now. Yeah, for sure. Um, but yeah, let's dive into our anime world news segment. Just a few points today. A few of them are a little bit long-winded, so y'all bear with me. But have some good talking points today. All right. So, first and foremost, Google permanently banned a manga artist, an entire account for uploading his old his own old manga file to drive. AI moderation flagged it, his appeal was rejected, and now everything from Gmail, Drive, and all linked services are gone. He wasn't sharing the files publicly, just backing up his own private work. There was no human review and no recourse. This man lost all of his old manga that he was making because an AI uh wanted moderator lagged it. And I just don't think that's fair at all, personally. Um the fact that yo you can even have I I understand AI moderation to an extent, but to where it's has the control to completely delete someone's full account, pretty much. Yeah, I don't I don't know.
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_04I feel like there should be some review, human review implemented into that system. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_03Or we can just you know hire people, go ahead and get rid of the AI. But if you're gonna use AI, why why don't you just have it to where okay you have the AI moderation and it flags it and it alerts to a human?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because that's outrageous. I'd be in court fighting that for the rest of my life.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah. That's there's there's something that has to be there's something that has to be done. I mean, that's Google too, so yeah. Um man, I d I I just don't know what I would do. Even as a creator myself, like if I well, what if I do a video that's just a gym and I just like have it in and it's just like gets taken down before I could even do anything with it.
SPEAKER_04Man, could be your life's work, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And it's like those things like that, it's hard to recreate from scratch and stuff. I mean, almost impossible. Like, and it don't, you know, especially an artist's original work, like you know, that means so much to them specifically. I don't I don't agree with how they did that. Absolutely no human came like into play into that at all. He even submitted a like a review, like a file uh appeal and that was rejected still through AI and stuff.
SPEAKER_00Like what are we doing? And that's cool. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So hey, um I hope you end up winning a lot of money and getting your getting your files back, bro. Respectfully, and then hey, if you get them back, post them. I'm sure you'll get support just because of what you went through. Yeah, tell your story, bro. For real, for real. But yeah, there needs to be something something done there. Not only for that specific case, but something needs to be changed so this doesn't happen again in the future, because definitely AI AI should not have the power to just completely take your stuff away.
SPEAKER_00Alright.
SPEAKER_03So we talked a little bit about this last week, but uh I mistakenly left it out of the world news points, so here it is. Ichiro Oda will reportedly release a new novel titled One Piece Novel Zorro on July 3rd, and fans are already expecting massive lore reveals surrounding Roanoa Zorro. If true, this may become one of the most important side stories in One Piece history, not just because it focuses on Zorro, but because it can completely change how fans understand his role in the final saga.
SPEAKER_00Um long overdue, I feel like with Zorro's backstory.
SPEAKER_03In terms of Zoro's Zoro's backstory and lore. So there's gonna be like a percent of people who only may just open up Netflix or Crunchyroll every week, watch their week week of One Piece, and go on about their business and don't really dive into you know the novels and and and some of the other stuff that's put out, the S the SPS is and stuff. Like I feel like those people aren't gonna really have the knowledge. I mean, I'm sure amongst the community it'll spread and stuff, but the casuals I feel like won't really know this lore.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and I uh I hope it doesn't create the problem of like so yeah, I've seen in like SPS where like it was like he didn't have time to fit in all the proper stuff he wanted to about Zorro. Um yeah. I hope this doesn't like give demand for other people, other characters now.
SPEAKER_03It shouldn't because I feel like Zoro is so high on the totem pole that some other characters you can make the argument where like they don't amount the same to Zorro, so it's not as necessary.
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, I I I don't know.
SPEAKER_03I I like it as a as a fan, as a like fan who dives into all the lore and all the extra stuff outside of just the anime. Um we're just not we're we're we're more than casuals. Obviously, we have a whole podcast revolving around it. So like this excites us, and I'm sure it's gonna excite the fandom as a whole, Zorro's fan favorite. Um yeah, I just I just do feel like there's gonna be a percentage of people that this kind of just misses because of that, but it's not for me to complain. Um I know Ace is a fan favorite, and Ace has there's a few novels um talking about Ace and stuff, and yeah, given adventures of like or stories of when he was a pi like a pirate before he joined the White Bear Pirates and stuff. So I do know there are novels and stuff uh revolving him. So like Oda's done this before where he's given uh lore and and and just different uh canonic, is that the right term? Yeah, yeah, canonic events and uh yeah, I'm I'm excited for it. July 3rd, happy birthday to me. That's two days after my birthday, so cool. One of my favorite characters, uh getting getting some lore about him that I feel like you know has been a mystery for so long. It does kind of make sense that he's going this route because where we're going in the story is kind of like where would Zorro's backstory really mean anything to the story? Like most of the backstories we're getting tie into what's going on currently. I feel like we're so far ahead to where Zorro's kind of like not insignificant, but insignificant to the current plot. We still need it as fans, but to where we're going with this plot, and I'm not gonna speak manga-wise because we're still early on the episode. We'll talk about manga when we get there, but yeah, I just feel like where we are in the story is kind of like gearing away from from Zorro's, and we're we're we need to in the story, we need to worry more about Zoro's future than his past.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's kind of like what uh Oda was hitting on in the SPFs.
SPEAKER_03Okay, yeah. I I think I remember reading that. I I just all of them I don't remember.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Um I just hope he gets a good out you know, outroll or promotion will.
SPEAKER_03I think Oda, we we know Oda loves Zoro like enough to where I don't I don't think that's gonna be an issue. And I think the fandom man behind Zorro's character, I I I don't think he's gonna miss with this, man.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Why's still being popular? Uh oh my bad. I cut you off.
SPEAKER_04No, you're good.
SPEAKER_03What'd you say?
SPEAKER_04Rec recently I just been double guessing doing a cosplay for him.
SPEAKER_03For Zorro? Yeah. That would be clean though. That would be clean. Which which one though?
SPEAKER_04I know it's uh it would have to be like maybe like a Wano one or something like that.
SPEAKER_03I was thinking Wano too. Wano's tough. The only thing about Wano is that Young would be high, it's a lot of layers. Yeah, it's it's thick.
SPEAKER_00That would be clean though.
SPEAKER_04And they give me uh an excuse just to have all the swords.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Um, what I was gonna say is uh Wano is still like a big topic, kind of revolving around the the community. Yeah, it was some years ago now, but like it's still a lot of the new people are kind of getting to Wano now. Um and it still has a lot of importance, like in relevance in the final saga. Almost a lot of people consider it the beginning of the final saga. So like Wano's still relevant, and knowing that he does have connections with the land of Wano, like in terms of uh ancestry and stuff. Um I think it would be interesting, interesting to learn about this. So hey, I'm excited about a month away, a little bit less than a month away when he will be dropping that. I don't know when we will be getting it. Um because I'm ex I'm assuming the novel's just gonna be in Japanese, and we're probably gonna have to wait a little bit for translation. Um but this could be when we get it. I don't I don't fully know.
SPEAKER_00I just seen that he was uh dropping on July 3rd. So looking forward to it. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03All right. Code Gillas director criticizes modern anime production. He believes many of the modern anime productions are suffering from a lack of directional or directorial oversight, comparing the result to junk food. He stated that the rise of 12-episode anime has made it harder for new talent to learn from experienced staff. He argues that shorter productions leave little room for mentorship and training, weakening the industry's long-term development.
SPEAKER_04I'm not gonna lie, but he snapped right there. He was spitting. Can't even say nothing about that. That's like looking towards the future, too. That's hey.
SPEAKER_03Um, I can't do nothing but agree. Um, and I mean this in and I love some of these 12 anime episodes, or yeah, 12 episode anime. I I I do love, but I will say, if we take the lens of we're just looking at the ones we love off, and we look at a wide, wide angle of things, it's more quantity over quality. You could find your few diamonds in the rough, but I feel like back then, when these shows were coming out, all of them were competing with each other, and they all had their own uh what's what's the what's the right word? Like specialty behind them. They all had their their own like uniqueness and and originality to them. Um, you gotta think of when Code Gias was coming out and what uh shows it was competing with, and Code Gills is still to this day a top show. Like, if you haven't seen it, go watch it. It's great. Um, so and he was also the director of the One Piece Red film as well. So he does, it's not like he's only speaking from uh older directing state of mind, he's directed some recent stuff. One Piece Red was what 2020-ish, 2021, maybe, like uh, or within that time, 2019 to 2021, I believe One Piece Red came out. And so I feel like he's he's actually saying this from a place of care for the anime industry and not just like you know how old heads for for almost everything, sports, music, they always hate on the new gen. I don't think this is that. I feel like he's actually giving insight to, you know, everyone's so worried about making the most flashy 12-episode anime and just putting it out instead of actually cooking and and dropping seasons and and and having people grow within within the show. You know, a lot of a lot of our OG shows that we watched, you gotta think some of them probably started out producing and directing and making these shows in their early 20s, and they grew 10 over 5, 10, 15 years with some of these shows like over time. And you gotta imagine the difference of what you're learning from that based on okay, you're doing you're spending, you got a year cutoff time to make this show and get it out. Give me your thoughts on that.
SPEAKER_04Um, you know, Kogy Yoss came out a minute ago, so him being like an OG in the industry, he's you know, looking out for it. I feel like uh with the mentorship and training of people who, you know, the animators, the other directors to come, just that uh the time length with like for these twelve episode animes compared to like the longer one, seasonal uh longer seasonal, you know, like animes. That time in, you know, like the room, doing homework, doing work at work. You know what I'm saying? It's them reps.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It takes away from all that. Um, the whole industry and other industries too, like For sure.
SPEAKER_03You could kind of, and I think that's just it just goes into the day and age in which we are. Yeah. Everyone's, you know, uh 30 seconds. I I'll watch an Instagram reel or a TikTok over a YouTube video in terms of like that's how the average, you know, brain is. So it's like that's why that I mean that's one of the main reasons why people hate on One Piece. It's just the commitment. Like people would rather watch a 12-episode show, they can get done in one to two sittings, and they feel satisfied. They feel like, okay, I watched the whole story. And it's like some of them are great. Don't get me wrong. Um, these shows that are considered one core shows in in the anime sense, uh there are some really good ones. Um, but overall, like I said earlier, if you if you look at it from a different angle, we're getting a lot of stuff that's just okay. Whereas a lot of stuff was good, like a lot of stuff was so good at the time, even if we don't people talk about full metal alchemist brotherhood to this day, and no one really says you you you got the people that are fans of it who will say, like, okay, that's their favorite anime. But the average person is not saying that. But the average person will tell you how good full metal alchemist brotherhood is. We don't have that many shows like that anymore, to where like they still hold their weight, and it's like, okay, this is gonna be one I could always rewatch and always come back to and and show my love to. You're gonna you're gonna have the so many more of these shows that are just like, oh yeah, I've seen that. There's some shows that I've seen that are quick like that, and I don't even remember like that. They were okay, but I I just watched them and it's like it didn't really impact me. But hey, I'm glad to be my age because I got a little bit of of both sides. I uh we we get to we got to experience technology really turn and we we got to go. Yeah, we're really guinea pigs.
SPEAKER_04I was just talking about this yesterday. And it's funny you bring up full metal fetal full metal. I was just you know giving this praise last night. Yes, sir. That shows I'm glad I stuck that one through. Like I started watching that like a couple times and I was like, uh, I don't know where this is going. And just didn't come back and then man.
SPEAKER_03Great show there. Yeah, that's that's a that's a good one. Um but yeah, man, I I I I completely agree. There are some some very good shows that that are that are short, one season long, but we are missing some of the originality feel to these longer stories. And I hope we don't completely turn away from that. I hope shows, you know, like One Piece, we got Black Clover coming out soon. We'll talk about that later. We got uh Hunter Hunter coming out. We'll talk about that later. Hopefully, some of these shows can keep, you know, Thousand Year Blood War, final year final parts coming out at the end of the year. Hopefully, some of these shows can still stick around to give us that feel before you know it's all completely gone.
SPEAKER_00And all we're getting is new shows every year.
SPEAKER_03That yeah, new shows every year. I I like that we are getting new shows every year, but I don't want that all to be what we get it. I still want to look forward to stuff from previous years and stuff.
SPEAKER_00Definitely. Yeah. Alright.
SPEAKER_03According to IGN, the Avatar, the last Airbender AAA game from Sabre Interactive is no longer in development. It was going to yeah, it was going to follow a brand new avatar living thousands of years before Aang. Paramount says this doesn't mean a triple A Avatar game won't happen in the future, but it may come in a different iteration. Um man, ever since Paramount, did Paramount buy Nickelodeon or did did Paramount buy Paramount? Paramount bought a whole list of they must have bought I think they bought Nickelodeon as a whole.
SPEAKER_00Because man, they they I just don't know what they're doing.
SPEAKER_03I don't know what they're doing. Um I'm not saying that uh the Avatar of the Last Airbender game, I don't know how anticipated it was, but it just seems like they they're just tossing away this franchise. I I don't I don't know what they're doing. Um I I never really had Paramount. I've I've used people's accounts before here and there, and I always thought it was a cool streaming service. It has some good shows on it and stuff, some some good classic cartoons that I used to watch. But I really feel like ever since they bought out Nickelodeon, I don't think they've been doing anything great with it. And I kind of hate to see it. Um, I don't know if any of y'all were looking forward to this game or just you know heard rumblings about it and maybe got excited to check it out. I don't know much about it, but I would have for sure been a little bit intrigued in an avatar last Airbender game.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Are they failing you? It's just like not really, yes and no. And here's why I say yes and no.
SPEAKER_03They didn't have to expand on Avatar, the last airbender. It's once you pick up that idea, I feel like you have to do it right and just make it as good as possible. I don't think you're gonna be able to live up to the original series and what it what it holds in terms of nostalgia and appreciation and love. But I do think you can still make good stuff, like Legend of Core. Legend of Cora was good, but when people when it's compared to Avatar The Last Airbender, it just it's just doesn't hit the same. For some people, it does. Some people appreciate certain parts about it, but it was still good. I feel like Paramount can do something along those lines, but I feel like at this point, they've just been dropping the ball too many times. The movie, they got the movie, all right, they're gonna put it in the movies. Nope, they take it out of the movies, then it gets leaked, and then they they they just they're just scrambling. All right, they have a game, they announce this game. Some people are excited about it, all right, and then they just pull the rug from underneath you, and it's like, oh, no more. And it's like, why do y'all keep bringing this stuff up if y'all are just gonna keep dropping the ball? That's my thing with it. If we don't need y'all to touch Avatar the Last Airbender, if y'all are just gonna continue to take us on this roller coaster ride, if y'all are gonna do it, do it right, put it out there and reap the benefits of it. Y'all are gonna make money from it regardless, just because of the name. Just do that. It could be a flop, it could not. At this point, just release stuff if y'all are gonna talk about it. Like, that's just my thing. That's just my thing. Failure, yes and no. I didn't really, you know expect much more. After Korra, I was like, okay, cool. We gotta we got a sequel series. It was it was it was dope, you know, it was cool, it wrapped up nicely. That's all I expected. A movie, okay, cool. But why?
SPEAKER_00Like, why why just all this BS? Yeah, I don't know. Yeah. Is it their social team?
SPEAKER_03They keep putting it out, and then it's like, oh man. I can't even blame them because I feel like a billion-dollar company such as that, you gotta, you like, it can't just you can't put everything on the social team. That's like that's like an NFL team, like one one of their social media workers posts something that wasn't supposed to be posted. And it's like, are you telling me nobody in the building, like this single person who's not even that high up in the totem pole, they just have access to the social media, was able to release this specific amount of information? Like, it just doesn't make sense. It like, for instance, we're talking about sports, basketball, the Luca Dodges trade. I it didn't affect me. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not a Mavs fan, I'm not a Lakers fan. But they're saying only like two people in the building knew. You're telling me, you're telling me stuff like this can get out, and nobody, like nobody know, except the people, like, come on now. It just doesn't make sense. I can't blame the social team because it's like y'all have all these execs, y'all are a billion-dollar company. You cannot tell me that this does not get filtered through layers and approved on like people's desks. Okay, yes, this is cool. This is good. Post this, announce this. Yes, this is good.
SPEAKER_00Like, and if not, then what are we doing? Y'all might as well let me and Ja run it. Hey.
SPEAKER_03Oh man, I'm gonna worked up when I don't even need to. I didn't even care about this game. I did not care anything about this game. I'm getting worked up just because Paramount, I don't feel like they've done anything. Nickelodeon is so prime coming up, and like they bought it out, and it's like a money grab. They're just looking, they're looking for the the and and I'm sick at Nickelodeon too for selling, selling out to them because like y'all are just going to the whatever streaming service is paying most, like not even a streaming service that's gonna take care of the brand. Get it together, Paramount. Get it together, man. Y'all got too many classics in y'all's grasp, and I've heard nothing good from anything Nickelodeon related since uh prior to y'all buying them out.
SPEAKER_00That's just facts.
SPEAKER_03That's just facts. It's sad, bro. It's sad, and it's just like that that that's a childhood staple for me. That's that's why it bothers me, because it's like that was my first introduction into that.
SPEAKER_00Like, and that was early.
SPEAKER_03That was I was legit watching that, man. But yeah. Alright, moving on. Black Clover is finally back with a brand new ending scheduled this summer. Following the initial ending of its 11-year run last May, Black Clover is releasing a 15-page follow-up to tie up all the loose ends. Black Clover official guidebook will be released this August alongside the final volume of the Black Clover manga. A new Black Clover anime is scheduled for October 2026 on Crunchyroll, and it is reported to have movie level animation. They said every episode will be movie quality animation.
SPEAKER_00It's not. Um sounds like they have everything in order. I'm loving it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'm excited. I just got a caught up, so I don't know how you know the show progressed as as it's been out all this time. But like seems like they're, you know, moving right.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, um, I don't really know how too much how it progressed either because Black Clover, it took me a while to start it, just because uh when I first got into anime, all the other shows I was watching, and then yeah, it just took me a while to actually start it. So when I did watch it, I just binged through it similar to how you did. It was probably I think I watched it in what like maybe like 2019 for the first time.
SPEAKER_00When did it stop? I can't remember when it stopped.
SPEAKER_03But I watched it like when it when when the last few episodes came out, I was watching it at that point, but I wasn't caught up at that time. I was just like binging it, catching up, and then it stopped. And so it was still coming out while I was while while I started it.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, definitely coming along.
SPEAKER_03Um I'm excited for it. I've been hesitant, like, well, my time's kind of are already been limited. So when I do read manga, like I'm I'm pretty picky. So it's like I have all these manga that I want to read. It's like, damn, I want to read uh Black Clover, see how that is. I want to read JJK, see how that is. I want to read uh Hunter Hunter when that when that starts dropping. And then it's like, damn, I don't really have the time. Of course, I'm gonna read one piece every Sunday, but I don't really have the time. And then when I do read, it's like I do have a tendency to try and click Kagurabachi just because that's not out yet, and I I don't know.
SPEAKER_00It's it's it's good, it's good.
SPEAKER_03But I know you've recently caught up on Black Clover, so are you excited for the upcoming anime?
SPEAKER_04Yes, uh all but all all good news to me. Um, especially how it ended. Dad caught me by surprise, so to be wrapping it up. Um the anime is not gonna wrap it up, is it? With this?
SPEAKER_03Uh no, not right away.
SPEAKER_04Not yeah, not right away.
SPEAKER_03But to even get into this new It'll probably end with either the end of next year or probably 2028. I'm leaning, I I don't know how they're gonna if they're gonna release in seasons or not, but I'm probably laying it, I think I'm leaning towards early 2028, it might end. We still got a little bit for black poker visually.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Um, but yeah, just to even get into this new arc from you know where we ended at and be uh movie level.
SPEAKER_00Hey, yes. Yeah. Music to my ears.
SPEAKER_03Um what me and Ja are gonna try and do, we're gonna I I gotta figure out the best possible way for us to maybe get it done. Um I think on the video side of things, I want to start doing reactions to other anime. Um but it's gonna I want it to make it a good experience for our our viewers, and I want to do it as a video format so not live. So we're gonna probably record and then have it edited to where we won't get hit with copyright, and then have our episodes posted whenever we can. Um, it's probably gonna we'll probably start it like later in the year, like after DreamCon and stuff, uh in the future. Maybe, maybe closer to when One Piece uh goes on break again. We can start playing around that time. Um I was thinking about doing it in the episodes to kind of balance out what we're not gonna get for the for the actual episodes, but I think we're gonna I wanna prioritize around that time once we go on breaks, start incorporating guests a little bit more into our episodes. So it may just have uh more segments circling around that, and then if we do reactions that are not one piece, we just do them in video format and just get them out on the channel as well, just to keep pumping out content. But just thoughts. I wanna well, I mean, me and you obviously will talk more off stream about all that and whatnot, but look forward to that, guys. Something along those sorts, especially more guests when we do have breaks and then um more off schedule, offhand videos from us as well. Moving forward and uh social media, trust me, I've been editing and clipping up these clips. I got like probably like eight or nine clips in the vault. I've just been so busy that I forget to post them, they will be coming out. A lot of clips will be coming out, so trust me, I have a bunch done though. I just literally forget to hit upload sometimes. Okay, but um, Demon Slayer Infinity Castle. We can't talk enough about this, huh? The second part will be taking center stage at the anime expo 2026 with a special event scheduled for July 3rd at the Peacock Theater in LA. The event is expected to feature a brand new special video and new footage from the highly anticipated Infinity Castle film. Hey man, they taking advantage. They broke the barrier in terms of uh expectations for anime movies, and they're riding on the hype. Um, you're rarely even hearing about anything Demon Slayer, like seasonal format. You're just hearing about the movies. They still, I do not think, have released uh the movie onto streaming platforms. I still believe that the only way you can go see the movie is to go in the theaters and see it.
SPEAKER_00Um I just think that's wild.
SPEAKER_03But hey, they're making the best of the opportunity they made for themselves, I guess.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we'll be talking about uh Fiend Castle for the rest of the year, for sure, no doubt. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03I mean, shoot, for the next couple years, because I think next year is probably when we're gonna get the second part, so it's just gonna re-spark again.
SPEAKER_00What were you saying though?
SPEAKER_04No, uh Yeah, they're they're running with on the coattails. Anime X Bell, they'll be booked for bro. I wonder what the uh Peacock Theater is, though. That's dope.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, um, it's probably like uh they got the like out here in Dallas, they got like the Toyota theater, I think or something like that. I think it's just kind of like universal uh like stage theater type things. Cause that's where the Toyota thing is where uh Gunnar performed that where I went. But I think it's used for like events like that too, as well. So probably similar, like a similar type thing, just Peacock's the one who you know sponsored it and has all the money behind it and stuff. But um I know anime expo is always one of the you know big, highly anticipated anime events. I it might be correct me if I'm wrong, it might be the biggest anime event, like strictly anime, at least in America, I believe. Anime Expo. I don't really know. I mean, obviously there's comic cons and stuff, but that's not anime specific. I'm trying to think of what else.
SPEAKER_00I mean, Country Roll Awards, but that's in Japan. Yeah. I know there there there are cons and stuff, but pretty sure anime expo is like the big announcement.
SPEAKER_04They say on the website it's the largest celebration of Japanese pop culture in North America.
SPEAKER_03Okay, yeah. So at least at least here locally within the states, it's it's the biggest, it's the biggest event.
SPEAKER_00The biggest, the largest. Um how do you feel about you know uh these Japanese anime entities using uh American platforms to announce their stuff?
SPEAKER_04Um so from them, us being Westerners, we're kind of like it's just now blowing up for real, I feel for us. Like yeah, it's sure. Yeah, we had it. Some people were already on it in their childhood twenty, ten years ago.
SPEAKER_00But to be like uh, I mean we love their culture, they love our culture. It's like you know, a little trade-off. That's great. Um I don't think it's I don't have no real feelings about it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, I think it's a good thing for this country. Um moving forward, you know, in the times of the anime community. I think it's it's exciting to to see America embrace um anime so well, and really the world. Um and I think it's cool, it gives us an opportunity to experience some of some of some of these events and stuff. And you know, hopefully, well, not hopefully, once we get to uh a certain point with with our content and stuff, you know, we'll be able to you know be featured at some of these events or or be in attendance for some of these events and really just get to experience the growth of anime in this country. But I think that's exciting um that they are hosting that. Well, anime expos always hosted in the states, but that Demon Slayer is you know featuring a special special footage at an American uh hosted event.
SPEAKER_00So exciting, exciting.
SPEAKER_03We got a new anime alert smoking behind the supermarket with you, anime. First 12 mini episodes are now streaming on Crunchyroll. An overworked 45-year-old salary man named Sasuke finds solace in smoking and the cheerful service of the supermarket cashier Yamada. One evening, when Yamada's shift ends, a striking woman named Tayama invites him to a quiet smoking spot behind the store. Unbeknownst to Sasuke, Tayama is actually Yanada in a different persona. And though their shared smoke breaks and through their shared smoke smoke breaks, the two begin in an unexpected connection. This show has already made history with the perfect five out of five rating from just the preview episode alone. I've been hearing a lot of a lot of hype um early on about this. I don't really know too much too much besides the the description I just gave y'all. But it sounds interesting.
SPEAKER_00It could be really Yeah.
SPEAKER_03If it's if it's like just a short little little quick little interesting story, it could be something cool.
SPEAKER_00I like this concept. This is a different approach.
SPEAKER_04This is a different concept, but this can be like really good or really bad, but like this has a lot of potential, I feel like just off from what you read off. Um I like the approach.
SPEAKER_03I like the approach. It makes you laugh. Yeah, it made me laugh reading it. Obviously, the name catches you uh it catches your attention. And then um just reading the description, I'm like it could be it could be you know something interesting to to check out. I mean I may tap into it, honestly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they've been they cooked on the previews too, so we gotta look at those. Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_03Um it's funny because the last anime that I presented on anime world news was um the Darwin incident. Oh sure, and I watched that one, and the first season of that was really good. The the cliffhanger at the end, like the plot twist that you get at the end of the first season, I'm like, yo, this one was really good. So from now on, if like I present an anime on the show, I'm gonna watch it. I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna tap in and I'm gonna let y'all know how it is. And I'm sure we we we're gonna have some people who have seen it themselves and watch it themselves, but this one sounded interesting. Last time I last time I did something like this, it turned out good. I enjoyed it. It sounded weird to me at first because when I first read the descriptions for Darwin incident, I'm like, yo, what was going on? But I think there's a clip out there too of me talking about it. But this one caught my attention in a similar fashion, so I'm gonna check it out.
SPEAKER_00I wanna see how this goes. Check it out. So they can go into uh unlimited angles of that. Yeah, for sure. Just the sesh smoking behind the supermarket with you.
SPEAKER_03I'm excited though. Excited. I'm gonna check it out. I'm gonna let you know how I'm gonna get back to you and let you know how what I think. Alright. Last but not least, Hunter Hunter volume 39 is officially set to release on July 3rd. Man, July 3rd is gonna be popping. Big day. It's a Friday. It's a Friday because that's a week before DreamCon. July 3rd's popping. There's a lot of announcements, a lot of dropping. Um what's that? That's three things from just this world news, right? Oda. Um, Hunter Hunter and Demon Slayer being uh having their little announcement on the third. Man, July 3rd. 4th of July is on the Saturday. That's gonna be crazy this year. I'm gonna work the next day. I work on the day. People gonna be outside. I work right in smacking downtown too. Every Sunday when I clock into work, it's like flooded, people flooded, walking cars parked everywhere. I'm just like, yo, is it two in the two in the morning? Yes, people are outside. All right, my bad. Um yeah, Tunner Hunter volume 39 is set to release on July 3rd. The long running series has been on multiple hiatuses over the years. So any new update is always exciting for us. Fans are now looking forward to seeing where the story goes after such a long wait.
SPEAKER_00Oh gosh. This is I gotta get caught up. I gotta just uh stick it out, read it, right? We're in a we're in a good good era for anime. No doubt.
SPEAKER_03Um, OG fans and new fans. You know, the big three is all being aired this year. We're getting Hunter Hunter back, releasing chapters, we're getting Black Clover back. Um obviously JJK came out this year.
SPEAKER_00Um obviously that's not a not an OG, but I just watched uh Shibuya Incident last night. Oof. Woo man.
SPEAKER_03Man, I'm gonna probably do a full rewatch of JJK before the next part comes out.
SPEAKER_04It's my second rewatch this year of JJK.
SPEAKER_00Can't be mad at that at all.
SPEAKER_03Can't be mad at that at all, but yeah, Hunter Hunter, I'm excited for it. We are eating as anime fans, and I love it because it gives us stuff to talk about. No doubt, for sure. Um, that will wrap up our anime world news segment. This one was a good one. We had a lot to talk about. Um make sure y'all smash that like button and subscribe if y'all are new. We will dive straight into our tales from the new world. We got two episodes to go through. So, if y'all are new, Tales to the New World, we've live react to the most recent episodes of One Piece. This week we got two that we are reacting to 1164 and 1165. Our audio platform listeners, I do advise come over to YouTube and check us out, even if it's just for this segment, because we'll at least have visuals up on screen. Audio we cannot have because we will get copyright striked mid live. We've had it happen before. Oh um, audio platform, bear with us, and I advise y'all just come to check out check us out on YouTube so y'all do feel included, and we will do our best to commentate as much as possible. Now, since we are watching two episodes, I don't want it to be too much silent, so we will just power through them as quickly as possible and then get our thoughts in and our conversation going after. We can, you know, obviously we'll commentate and give as much uh interactive conversation while the episode is going, but please remember this is a live raw reaction. We have not watched these episodes, so we're still gonna be tuned in to make sure we are fully getting what's happening. Yes, uh lucky for us, we obviously have read the chapters, so it kind of gives us a little bit of an advantage while watching it. But let's get into it. Our first episode is 1164, Saul's Resolve, the Inherited Will of O'Hara. Summary goes. Robin formally introduces Luffy and the others to Saul. Then he assists, Anj, that's her name. Remember, I said it was Anj? That's why I thought it was so close. But she do kind of resemble with the glasses and stuff like that. But I was like, Anj, and I knew that sounded crazy, but I was close. Um, shows them around the school where Usopp is shocked by the education being provided there. Meanwhile, Robin is taken to the library by Saul, where she is met with an incredible sight.
SPEAKER_00Yes, sir.
SPEAKER_03Um thoughts before we dive into this? I'm ready to get to it. I believe this was chapter eleven thirty four or eleven thirty-five. I think it's eleven thirty-five.
SPEAKER_00Oh, eleven. Oh yeah, skid episode here. Is her was it eleven thirty-four? Uh is that the one you just said? Was it eleven thirty-four? Yeah, eleven thirty-four. Okay, well you learn that from Jane Bay.
SPEAKER_04He's gonna grow up out of this.
SPEAKER_00Don't even make me think about that. Oh, my God. A tear is gonna smack Robin in the face. Damn. Zora really got the worst fit. It's his legs, bro. It's his legs and the glasses or the goggles. Squire You say who? Brooke always got ashes. That boy trim. So someone can still be as smart as Vegabump because the fruit will be regenerated, right? Yeah, one day, I guess. But not all at once. His brain is just a storage, right? Technically, or is it uh Yeah, yeah, yeah. Not all at once. I mean, like, someone could get the fruit. Yeah, you you still gotta learn and stuff, but or can someone get the fruit? I mean, so the the host body of the fruit died, right? But that's what I was confused about, because like Lillip still got consciousness. I I I or is she just working off saved data, maybe? I guess I mean it's it's almost everything in the world, so yeah, you're right. Don't worry about it. Reminds me of my dojo. Mm-hmm. She's gonna do Frankie. We're gonna run in this for a second. Good thing about that baggy fucking back in the day. That boy got locks. You seeing him? One of the kid giants right there. True. But Yasub got locks too. No auto. That's Derek Banks. Oh, what the whole browser just closed. Whoa. All right. That was crazy. Can you see it? No, I don't see it. There it is. That was crazy. I see what browsy. But I forgot she asked that. Watch out for that movie. Yeah. Oh boy. I ain't heard this in a minute. Yo, we're back. We're so back. Pause. I don't know if you saw what I saw, but that voice is not revealed yet.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah. This yeah. Now I feel like I have made it to like it is. So I just further goes to that just feels my my head cannon.
SPEAKER_00Well, we can talk about it now, right? At least halfway till it's over. Okay. This is this is the first yeah. Now I'm like I don't know. Oh man. Just like that, huh? Just like that. They're sauce, they don't even know what's going on. I like that. That was almost like Star Wars music right there.
SPEAKER_04I was like, hey. That was cool. That was cool. Man. Uh you want to talk about it?
SPEAKER_00You know what I've I don't want to say too much, but I think we're we're at it by the kirk. Is it okay?
unknownKirk.
SPEAKER_00It comes from the flashback.
SPEAKER_03Okay, okay. Yeah, yeah, you're right. You're right. I know I have what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_04But like a little too rough. Maybe but then the way the friction was acting on the phone is like it's a fortune.
SPEAKER_03You also got a thing. You you remember what happens later in the chapter with the chapter in the art with Loki. He still kind of comes off like that.
SPEAKER_00But I think that could just be how he talks. Yeah, I know what you mean.
SPEAKER_03Because like it would it was kind of brought up obviously before this, but I don't want to say too much either because yeah, we do get more details. It gets brought back up later in the flashback. We will see it within the next few weeks, I guess.
SPEAKER_04Um in the credits that I've seen on the post, they like question mark it out. Like I'm just gonna you're not gonna find out, bro. Um it was kind of like the sounds uh I forget what moment, but it was in the beginning. I thought it was kind of tacky, but he's doing his thing. Um it's all coming together for it pick up on an episode though. It was already fast by the time. It was I guess um the reaction is kind of crazy. As of this point, I don't remember if someone said something and the upcoming episode, but not that I can remember.
SPEAKER_03That's a good episode on we're we're we're getting the the nitty gritty, we're about to get really into it, so at the direction that this is going, and I'm excited to actually see these things on screen animated. But yeah, it was a good episode.
SPEAKER_00I enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_03All right, let's dive straight 65. This one has no title or description yet, just because it was recently dropped.
SPEAKER_00But let's get straight into it. Crazy work. A welcome. Oh, hold on. Let me read it out for y'all. The title of the episode. A welcome with friends, cups, and the intruders seeking Loki. Everybody was probably freaking out last episode.
SPEAKER_03I've seen some of the stuff that people were posting just that last season.
SPEAKER_04I gotta see, I gotta see it.
SPEAKER_00I haven't even seen none of it yet. Pause, pause, pause. Oh, my bad, my bad.
SPEAKER_04The two can.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not totally the same, but that's what we call that. It's crazy. Better go on a monster point. Yeah, right. Start flipping on pages. Oh no, I'm triple. Oh, I'm thinking of girl from Titus out there. Oh gosh. Oh looking at a tree, talk about some look at this and that young go little big She look like Uncle. Oh again. It just struck the ground near. Like, Navi, get off my dick, right? No name best. Three days a night for one banquet. Oh, yeah. Deer meat. What have you said that? Toppers, deer meat. Holding the style. Huh? They wanted the princes. Never mind. I was about to say something crazy. Oh, man. Yes, sir. What do you think? Episode eleven sixty-five. Come together, man. Not so much.
SPEAKER_04Um it a little bit more than uh what we got, but yeah, me too.
SPEAKER_00Um I was sad about it.
SPEAKER_04I wanna I thought we got a lot more than we did.
SPEAKER_03I didn't underwhelming. Um wasn't a terrible episode. Yeah, we didn't get a lot, but I did kind of like I said, I did skim through kind of realized what we were expecting wasn't gonna happen. Uh still seen everything animated and look good and stuff. Um appreciate that. I don't really have much for either of the episodes. They were both they're both cool. Uh everything visually looked good, sound effects, they they they did a good job. So still keeping up the intensity on that end. But yeah, we're we're we're about to get into like the real integrity of the story, so I'm excited about that. Moving forward, I don't know about that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and I had in uh next chapter. Yeah, we got it.
SPEAKER_03Um, that was our anime one, it was our Tales from the New World segment where we react live to the latest episodes of One Piece today. We react to 1154 and 1165, both for very solid episodes. Um now it's time to really turn it up. Moving forward the next few weeks. So definitely looking forward to that. If you all uh leave a like if y'all like a rocking with us live, if y'all like a catchments on the file, smash that like button as well. And if y'all like new, subscribe to us and show us that support, and if y'all like catch notes on the audio platforms, we should all leave a five-star rating and a good review. That was our tales from the new world segment, and we will wrap up today's episode with our final segment, Among Comania segment, where we will I expect the most recent chapter that we got last week, which is 1184, uh on when we die, um if y'all are anime only, watch us. We appreciate y'all uh for rocking with us yet again. Um we'll see y'all next week. Like I said, I will not be available, but soon because we will be going live. We got an episode in this chapter, and it's it should be peak on both ends, so definitely looking forward to that. Anime only, uh, because where we depart, we will be diving into the manga, so keep it spoiler-free. We want everything to be fresh with chalk, and we appreciate y'all so so much. Um without further ado, our manga members, among the peoples, let's just have an chapter. So, um, it's manga mania. I don't expect it to take us too too long. It wasn't a whole lot. We do have some things that I want to talk about, and I think will be good talking points and uh conversation pieces. Um, as y'all should already know, uh very straightforward, just kind of backstory, giving us um uh specific of that kind of Tell us who Brooke and Shuri, and even uh Reuben, King Reuben, and a little bit of Kendall. Just a little bit of their characters and how they were early on. Um, so to start things out, we got 1184, we're all bones when we die. Uh, this reader request was Brooke getting electrocuted by electric e electric jellyfish while swimming in the sea by Primo D. Akashi. Uh, did you have any thoughts on the reader request?
SPEAKER_04Um, not too much. Uh we we obviously see the jellyfish have eyes like Ema. Um they're dark, darkly shaded out. Yeah, I just couldn't only come to think of uh, you know, probably an appearance from a uh uh either an emu or uh knight maybe in a coming future. Um resulting in maybe the loss of the queen or the princess. I don't know. Symbolism, I don't know, we'll see where this uh backstory takes us, but I have too much for this.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Um I don't really have much either. I was trying to like play with it and think more of like uh of like the not literal but symbolic side of things when it came to this and um how this is all kind of quote unquote shocking to Brooke, like all of this this new revelation that that he's uh dealing with. And I I I thought it was interesting because we don't really see too much of a cover story, and I know this is just a reader request, but uh be so directly tied with the main character of said chapter that you know we're reading. So I thought that was interesting. Like you said, the emu eyes. Uh I tried, I try to kind of like think of like you know the stuff that emu's manipulating behind the strings, behind the scenes, and stuff. Like this is all shocking the Brooke now because he you know moved on from this part of his life, and now this is all kind of being sparked back up and brought back up by uh well emu being the catalyst, but you know, all this the events that are taking place. But I I I didn't really have much, that was just like where my initial thoughts were, but I was like, I didn't really have too too much to tie into that to make it like um nice and uh juicy, yeah. Yeah, um all right, so I'm gonna break down this summary real quick, and then we'll dive into the actual breakdown. Alright. By the time Shuri was 14 years old, tales of her beauty began to spread, which led the five princes of nearby kingdoms to approach her asking for her hand in marriage. However, Sherry defeated all of them and announced that she does not like weak men or men who cannot play music. Brooke, who is now 27 years old, talked to Sherry about her rejecting her rejected suitors, which she admits with pride she beat all of them, hoping he would show some interest in how strong and cute she has become. Though, when she mentions she hopes her chest will get bigger as she gets older. Brooke tells her not to think like that because it is undignified only for him to approach some women and ask to see their panties, resulting in Shirty throwing her sword at him in annoyance. Despite that, the two would continue to spend their days singing, We're all bones when we die together. Shirty saying she loves his music just as much as her parents do. Something that fills Brooke with pride. Shirty asked Brooke if he loves her father that much, and he confirms he does, stating that if it were not for him, he would be dead by now. Then we flash back even more. When Brooke was 11 years old, he lived in a junkyard by himself and would often watch other kids learn music and play instruments. Though he had time the he at the time was not very popular because he lived in the junkyard and was often chased away from the institute. In the junkyard, Brooke spent his days singing and playing a makeshift violin he made out of junk, sometimes saying that the king is to blame for his current circumstances. Reuven would often visit Brooke in the junkyard, back when he was a prince, though Brooke did not realize who he was at the time, only figuring he was a fan of his music to explain his frequent visits, something Reuven did not deny. As a sign of their newfound friendship, Brooke made Reuven a stew out of grasshoppers and a frog with some curry powder he stole from the marine ships that come to the port mixed in, which he says will make anything taste like curry, regardless of the ingredients. As he took the bowl, Reuven thought about his fancier meals, which were very small, and how he was introduced to a prestigious woman, no doubt meant to be taken as a wife. He does get snapped out of his thoughts by Brooke and eats it, though it seemed to taste terrible. Still, he offered to pay Brooke for his generosity, but Brooke told him not to bother as they were friends. After the two would spend time spend more time hanging out and playing music together. One day, Brooke was captured by some Marines who started beating him up in interrogation as they assumed he was in league with gangsters to hide drugs that they were going to sell to said Marines, only to find him with nothing but curry powder. Despite Brooke protesting his innocence, the Marines refused to believe him and plan to kill him, so he does not tell anyone what they did to him. Believing his time was nearing, Brooke continued to sing while waiting for the inevitable. But thankfully, Reuven arrived on the scene along with the rest of the battle convoy. Though the Marines call him a prince, which Brook overhears. The rest of the convoy asks Reuven to stand back and let them handle the situation. But Reuven refuses as he cannot forgive the crooked Marines for hurting his friend. The Marines then overhear a report delivered to Reuven that the gangsters who were from the Mulan family were captured along with their real courier, thus proving Brooks' innocence. But the convoy members warn Reuven that the Marines are still backed by the world government, which will lead to trouble between Hesperia and the organization. Reuven, however, says he does not care as he believes the government supporting corrupt soldiers is a sign the world is coming to an end. The Marines beg to be spared, but Reuven ignores them and labels them as trash, taking them down alongside Candel. Brooke wakes up at a palace with his injuries tended to and Reuven by his bedside, where he expresses relief he is okay and apologizes for not telling him he was a prince before, saying he was just having too much fun with him to potentially ruin it with the truth. Hendel reveals that every time Reuven left the castle, the convoy went into a panic to try and find him, but she never guessed he was hanging out with someone like him, who he who she calls adorable. Brooke's delight, Reuven then announced that he was going to take Brooke into the palace and make him his personal musician, with the promise of providing him an actual bed, instruments to play, and a spot at their school, wholeheartedly confident he will one day become a star of their kingdom and liven up the palace. Hearing this, Brooke tears up at Reuven's kindness, thereby explaining how he becomes his benefactor. Sir. Alright, let's dive into it.
SPEAKER_04Pretty brief chapter. Not too much going on. I don't have too much.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, same here. We could just talk about a few of the things that stood out to us.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Boom. Off the rip. Princess Shuri, 14. She I can't help, but say she rem she just resembles Nami. Yeah, she does look like Nami in this. I was thinking that too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Probably no relation, but just Oda's Oda's heart stuff.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, for sure. Um but yeah, that was just instant. She looks just like Nami.
SPEAKER_04Um and uh then we on the next page we get Brooke uh still being Brooke in his young age. Um Penny hunting has always been a part of his life.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, for sure. Um one thing that stood out to me, not really stood out, but you just kind of always forget how abnormally tall Brooke is, like for a human. Because uh obviously when he's just in his skeleton form, current day as we see him, it just fits because he's just like he doesn't look human, like being a skeleton, but but seeing him in this human form still so tall, uh it's just funny to think about. Um I felt found it weird that Oda put this uh Churi commenting on her chest filling out in the future. Um just just because she is 14. I did think that was a bit weird to throw in there, but it does kind of just fit uh Oda. He has these little uh small little like nuances in his uh work sometimes of uh hypersexualizing women.
SPEAKER_04But hey, he has as another lot of anime to that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I can't just single out Odo, but we we we're talking about this, so I just had to point it out. But um definitely caught me off guard when I first read that. Uh but hey, and then we got I think it it it was a funny transition into Brooke still being Brooke, like he's trying to be all, hey, that's undignified, and then he immediately snaps into so I kind of think that that's where he was going with it. It was just that was just an interesting way to start that.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, uh that was pretty much all I had over here. Um just seeing uh seeing the bond. Yeah, um he sings a lot more Yeah in his young age.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean he still he s sings a lot, but yeah, I I guess now he's focused on or when we see him now it's more so we just see him playing instruments. More so he does still sing, but we see him just more playing instant instruments where pretty much all the time in in this like instrument or not, he's singing.
SPEAKER_00Uh back in his old days.
SPEAKER_04Um I know I said this last chapter, but he looks just like baby teach in his young age.
SPEAKER_00Like I can uh unsee it. Um I wonder if there's gonna be something there with that.
SPEAKER_04Uh and I don't have too much for this um this page right here, but it is kind of resembling of like the Frankie Luffy Sabo ace upbringing in the dump.
SPEAKER_00Um and then how like you know their life changes, but well for some of them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, I kind of I was just like, okay, we we kind of get a traditional uh older backstory here, just with the just terrible, terrible conditions for for for kids to be living in. And um them still still being able to prevail and become, you know, the characters we know and love today.
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, I don't really have too much. Uh this next page over here, I guess I'll just start out.
SPEAKER_03Uh this made me have a little bit of a better perspective of Reuven. Um we know here he's a he's a king, but even or now he's a king and here he's a prince. Um him just coming up in this, you know, situation, and it shows like his uh humility, uh his humanity as well, and uh shows humbleness. Uh just this whole this whole sequence here, him thinking back of you know the prestigious lifestyle that he lives and he's that he grew up on, and he's looking at a kid who has a smile on on their face, singing songs, eating grasshoppers and and frog stew, and uh you know, still able to be positive about it, and then being able to turn down money and be like, nah, we're we're friends. Like, I don't got no uh I have no reason to take your money, even though he's living in a in a in a trash dump. Um yeah, I do just like this angle that we get of Reuven. I kind of seen it coming just because we know uh there has to be some sort of tie-in with the world government for him to be dead, and you know, that'd be a big thing of what Brooke remembers is that Gunko, uh aka Shuri was the one who did that. So it's like obviously if the world government is behind your death, you have to be some sort of good positive figure for like as as backwards and crazy as that sounds like. So this kind of just gives you it gives you an insight, especially him early on. He's only 21, and him just coming in and having this mindset. But uh, yeah, what do you have for these pages?
SPEAKER_04Um just some more um Nepalism. Sorry to do this, but even Prince Reuven looks really familiar to like teaching rocks, especially like the hair that he has at this age. He's only 21, very rocks-like, not exactly, but um in the following pages, right? Yeah, the following pages, um he looks even like like the facial expressions he has, like being upset, kind of looks like rocks to me. Uh and in some instances he looks like Teach.
SPEAKER_03But uh real quick, just off that, do you think uh what if what if Oda's doing like uh oh, if the rocks and rocks and teach went the right way, this is how they would look at that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that could be. Um also just how uh like humble Brooke is, like he's coming up from absolute nothing, little literal trash, and he's just making the most of his sip, you know, situation. Like he's crafted to um you know, put together junk to make uh instruments and stuff.
SPEAKER_00Like a little trash violin. Um that's all I have for this page. Um we they we get mentioned the Malone family.
SPEAKER_04Malone Malone I believe is gonna be one of the um five crime families, you know. That we talked about last episode.
SPEAKER_00Uh what do you think about uh Reuben offering Brooke liquor? I honestly didn't even realize.
SPEAKER_03They fishing and drinking.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. A vibe for sure. Um Brooke's what eleven?
SPEAKER_00Eleven, yeah. Gosh. And with the glasses, it reminds me of O'Dofy.
SPEAKER_03I was thinking that too. I I thought that on uh this this first page where he's playing his violin up here. Yeah I was thinking that. I was like, those glasses give me the Doffy vibe.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, um, I didn't really have too much here.
SPEAKER_03Um Marines, me and Marines, we know they're corrupt. Not really surprised that they're working with a crime family. Um and it kind it kind of ties into real life, you know, crime families were very, you know, uh indebted, or not indebted, but uh involved with the police and law enforcement and and and government and stuff. Um, a lot of people were paid off who worked for the government and crime fam crime families and stuff, and you even had people who joined the government, you know, from crime families just to infiltrate and and and have some power. So uh the bribery and and stuff and corruptness of the government. One, in one piece, it doesn't, you know, it's nothing new. And then two, uh now that we're seeing, you know, a little bit more of the crime family aspect uh be shown in the story, you know, it just kind of goes hand in hand. The fact that they were so ready to kill him just because they're like he's gonna he's gonna tell. And it's just it's crazy to think about that um adults can think this way amongst children and and not really have any any sort of sympathy, and they were they were just ready to do it, even as Marines. You know, y'all are the people who are supposed to come protect the the innocent, and y'all are supposed to be fighting the crime and whatnot. This is this is how y'all rock. Um Reuven bursting in at the end. Uh, very fitting. I I I'm I'm that did catch me off guard a little bit. Not off guard. I knew he was gonna get saved, obviously, but I thought it was I thought it was gonna be Candel, and I thought that was kind of gonna be the initial Brooke falling in love for her because uh she saved him or something along those lines. But I do like this a little bit more that you know, the person, the one person he was able to bond with and look up to as a brother, uh cared about him so much to go do this.
SPEAKER_00And uh I did like that aspect. You guys are this page or next page? Next page. Um Yeah, we get him saving Brooke and everything.
SPEAKER_04Uh and then the battle convoy fills in and is like about to fight the Marines. The bad Marines. But then we also get a line from one of the Marines. Uh no, that's not a Marine, that's um one of the convoy. Uh saying he has uh talking about his personal grudge against the world governor.
SPEAKER_00Um you think this is well he already stated like uh where does he say that? No. Sorry. If the g uh says it in the next panel, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_04If the government is back in this scum, then the world yeah, you that you had uh said something about that already. Um the world is truly coming to an end. Um You think there's been like multiple instances that he's already had previously with the world government, possibly?
SPEAKER_03Um, yeah. Pardon me, my mind kind of spiraled when I went into this because even early on when Brooke was singing as a kid, he was kind of saying, uh, you know, blame the king and stuff. And we kind of see Reuven as he's trying to venture off as a prince, you know, he's going to the trash dump. Like, why is a prince in the trash dump? And it's like maybe, maybe there's some corruptness even with his father as the king, um, maybe doing dealings with the world government that he may not see eye to eye with or agree with, but he's in no position to affect it or something. That's kind of where my mind went there. Um, or potentially just maybe his dad is, you know, isn't that bad of a king, maybe just not the best in terms of uh making sure the whole kingdom is taken care of as you know, there's poverty or I don't know, I don't know, poverty-strucken kids like Brooke. But maybe his dad's not that bad of a person, but he sees the governments like you know, uh they're aligned, Hesperia aligned with the world government, and maybe you know, he sees the corruption and sees the the inside abuse, and he's just uh against it. Um it did make me think more into the future on you know what potentially happens, but because now we do know Hesperia is no longer um a country anymore. So, you know, it makes you think what was there a buster call, was it a similar incident to even Lelusia? Because um I don't know if it's like a forgotten uh kingdom or if it's just uh a kingdom that uh got uh destroyed that's similar to Ohara. But um it does make you think like more into what his personal grudge with the world government could be, and does this potentially tie into what happens in the future, or is that just unrelated? Um last thing I wanted to touch on on this page was just you kind of see a little bit of uh a hint of you know Brooks' fighting style, the fencing type style. Um you you you see it strongly in Kendell and her form. Uh Reuven kind of has a weird two-sword fencing style, which which I I think is very interesting. Um but you do, I think I I think that is cool, and I I think you do kind of get a sense of okay, cool. Like now you you see the roots of of Brooks' fighting style and what he learned. And I wonder if it it's it's starting to like bits and pieces are starting to line up. Like people a lot of people are are running the theory of if Kendell has any connections with the holy knights. We see Brooks' fighting style, we see he now has the similar ice style, ice sword smith style to Nose Juro. We've seen um the comparisons in that, and then now we're saying that Kendell was probably a heavy influence, or maybe this was a heavily influenced style amongst this kingdom, which could be you know her being the commander of the battle convoy, maybe she's teaching the style or whatever. Hey, it just adds a little bit of fuel to that theory, but I do think it's uh that was interesting, and I think it was cool. I think it's cool that even in drawing that you can kind of see different fighting styles. Like Oda Oda does a good job with that. But that that was all I have for this page. And we obviously see Brooke point out their sword fighting, that's so cool.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Well, we we get we kind of get it back to back to back, just the world government stuff.
SPEAKER_03The uh are we on next page or still this page?
SPEAKER_04No, still this page. Um Reuven having his grudge, and then how he feels about the government, and then we get right after we get Kendell saying, I am your trusted blade. You think she has uh it's just all too similar from you know stuff we've heard? Um you think Candel I don't know, it's giving me the vibes of Candel could be uh holy night or maybe a CP9. I don't know, my own headcanon. Like I'm your trusted blade.
SPEAKER_00I kind of hits too close to some uh world government uh lingo, you know? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I'm also getting like Water 7 vibes. I'm like the dump.
SPEAKER_03It's just all uh Okay, I like that. Yeah, I I never really thought of thought thought of it much like that because I feel like I've heard Trusted Blade, not in the sense of One Piece, but just even like you know, we're big Game of Game of Thrones fans and stuff like that. I feel like that's just something that people say when they're they're like, you know, I am your like I will kill for you, pretty much. Yeah. Um and I assume that's kind of what the battle convoy, obviously, they're they kind of are protectors of you know the whole kingdom, but maybe a direct line to the king and the prince. Um but it could, you know, it could we have seen, you know, how how uh even what what is what is Gunko considered the emu? Uh uh God's blade, right? Yeah, so I mean that that's kind of like a direct I mean Gunko is Shuri who is you know the god's blade of Emu, so and she's the trusted blade of she's calling herself the trusted blade, so um I damn I didn't think of that.
SPEAKER_00I I I I like that you point that out.
SPEAKER_04Um yeah, that's all I have for here, and to just wrap it up, um I just a little bit at like you touched on earlier, um Prince Reuven as a character really turned around for me. I I took him for a bit of a jackass, slash like a obstacle for Brooke, even even knowing like previously Brooke said he saved my life, but still um just the way he came off as a king, which is I expected, you know, maybe he's been out of commission for a while and he's used to all the you know we see him we see him much later on. Yeah. Um but instead uh I took him as an obstacle, but instead he's pretty much a stand-up dude who really really turned around Brooks' life for him.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I also genuine dude. I I I I I like Ruben's character so far.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, um the panel on the left looks just like Teach, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_00He's gotta be dangerous. And make it so he can attend school right there.
SPEAKER_04He's my favorite uh yeah, musician himself right there. He looks just like Teach, bro.
SPEAKER_03You think you think you think it's funny because like at this point, I don't know if Oda's just running out of styles on how to do it.
SPEAKER_04Bro, yeah, he's he's messing me up, bro.
SPEAKER_00Like these people look too similar, bro.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and um, yeah. I try, I try I see it too. I've seen it. I've seen it when I was reading this chapter. I tried to disconnect my mind from going there so much because I'm just trying to take it for what it is now. I just don't know how like I like the theory, I like the idea, but like there's absolutely nothing to tie it in except looks right right now. Whereas Candel, we're getting a little bit more stuff to where it's like, okay, okay. Um and hey, even just to add fuel to that, like we know the Davies, we know they they they don't want to be found. Maybe, you know, maybe maybe she could be spying similar to how Garland was. You know what I'm saying? That's the route that uh because when Garland, when Garland had found out about next thing you know, God's Valley ain't no women, Hisperia. Come on, Kendall. Come on now. Oh, there is stuff there. Um maybe she was sent there to really find the true identity of Reuven or Reuven's family, see if that that's part of his own. Maybe. Um it does it feels odd because we're seeing a lot of the resemblances in Brooke as well, like to a young young teach and stuff, and um and then obviously we're seeing the Brooks and Teach uh similarities in Reuben as well. And obviously they're not related. Unless we don't find out we don't I mean we still don't know Brooks' parents or not.
SPEAKER_00I don't I don't know. Don't let me find out. Kendell hasn't aged neither.
SPEAKER_04I know Oda does you know draws his his women a certain way. Yeah. It's it's common among the women not showing too much age, but even still either show not showing too much or showing hella age. Oh yeah, it's either like I don't know, Candel looking too similar between chapters.
SPEAKER_03But also I have also at the same time, I do feel like since she's already adult and adult, I feel like there's a certain period in time where adults just like look like themselves no matter what, no matter how long the time passed. So and she's a fighting adult, like she's she's she's clearly a strong, uh strong uh battle-sensed uh fighter. So I I I I think that may help her case, but yeah, overall, I don't know. I'm gonna give it a warlord. What you think?
SPEAKER_04Um, yeah, it's one of the shorter chapters that we've had in a very long time. Probably it's in the top 10 of shortest all time manga for Oda, but I'll give it a warlord as well. Um not too much here, but the story is filling out, which we'll say. So yeah, I expect some big events to occur in the next chapter.
SPEAKER_03I hope so because we're kind of right in the middle of the nitty-gritty, and I really hope that we're not just getting fluffed out with a weak backstory. I I really hope it turns out, which I expect to. Um Gunko's appearance, like obviously is a big thing. Um that's pretty much what sparked this whole whole flashback. So I do expect it to completely come together and tie in, and we get some big reveals about Brooke and Gunko's past. Um I'm interested. Brooke's old. Maybe we get to see uh a figure of the past, you know, a young pirate young someone.
SPEAKER_00I don't know about that, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um I don't think he would uh I was thinking more rocks than Roger.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, a little older than Roger.
SPEAKER_03A little older than Roger, and I feel like Roger, like it would it would kind of make sense for Brooke not to bring up that he encountered Roger before. Whereas rocks, nobody really knows about rocks to where it would be like, oh yeah, I I met rocks before, but I feel like Roger would be like uh, damn, you met him and you never said nothing, or or he was on the island before you never said something like that. I just feel like it'll make a little bit more sense. But even if it's not even a pirate, maybe someone else just I just do think it's a good avenue to take advantage of since Brooke is older, like this takes place a lot further back than any other character, uh current character, you know, uh flashback or times uh or yeah, flashback or backstory that we would get. So um, yeah, overall it was good, very solid, very solid. Um, a warlord does not mean we didn't like it. It just yeah, you you have to skill, you can't give everything the top of the top, even if it's just good, you just can't, you know. We have to save those for the really special chapters, the really special episodes. So overall, it was still a really good chapter. Story's progressing, we're getting good backstory, and Oda always will find a way to have your heart in it, no matter what characters he's throwing at you, no matter what scenarios, you know. And now I'm invested in this Reuven and Brooke, and I I want to see what because dang, it really must have hurt Brook. If if he truly believes that Shuri killed Reuven, like I can't like now, it's just like wow, like you really see their bond and how close they were. So um just has a way with writing, like no matter what, even if it's a uh a quote unquote dull, I'm not calling it dull, but dull in comparison to some of the other stuff we've gotten. 13-page chapter, like we're still getting good substance. So um, final thoughts on the chapter on the episode.
SPEAKER_04Uh it's hey, one piece is flowing right now. Um it's maybe not all the you know, all the hype stuff right now, but the build-up is gonna be insane. I feel like the chapter, like like we've been saying for a couple weeks now, the chapters and the episodes are kind of moving at the same flow. When big stuff is going on in the manga, big stuff happened in the episode. So for sure. I like the little system they got going on.
SPEAKER_03And if y'all are, if anybody out there, any true One Piece fan out there is complaining about this being slow or dull, y'all are spoiled and y'all have no respect to the storytelling because we have been getting so much peak to where like a chapter like this is is is almost refreshing. Don't get me wrong, I would have preferred like action and the big the the big bads, and we're seeing all the names, but stuff like this, it still shows you that how how good Oda is at tying into tying in backstories, tying in people's past, and and and and different connections, making it all come together. And this is a great building, building block chapter for a lot to what we what we get. We get a very this is a very emotional chapter in terms of just uh seeing the traumatic events of Brooks' childhood. So um I just think it's unfair to people to anybody out there. I haven't seen it, but if there is anybody out there who's discrediting what Oda's given us, animation side or manga side, I I just think it's unfair to to Oda because Oda and everyone involved in production and all this, because we're getting some good quality. We're getting some good quality, and anime is about to go stupid, pretty much nonstop from next week on. Um, and then manga, y'all know we're right where we're in the middle of it. So no matter what, we get a break week, we don't get a break week, we get a backstory, we don't get a backstory. We're in the the thick of it right now. So there should be no complaints from nobody. But man, it's great. I'm enjoying it. I'm enjoying being here with y'all, being here with Ja, being able to really talk about it and experience it all of us together. Um, without further ado, that's gonna wrap up episode 28 of the Poneglyph podcast. We're almost at a full 30 piece. Uh but we appreciate y'all for tapping in. This is the Poneglyph Podcast where we decode the world of One Piece and anime, one Poneglyph at a time. Make sure y'all smash that like button before y'all leave out of here. Whether y'all live with us and people on the vibe, we appreciate y'all. And subscribe if y'all are new. And if y'all are on audio platforms, we appreciate y'all as well listening to us on the go. That means a lot. Make sure y'all give us a five-star rate. And when y'all get the opportunity and a good review, we'll make sure to get back to y'all. So check us out on our social media platforms: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube shorts, all of that. We will be dropping a lot. I have a lot in the vault. I'm still gonna continue to edit these episodes. I'm in the process of moving. So the next episode at least will be another off-scheduled one. And the shorts will be coming out periodically. I will, since I have them on my phone, I will try and upload those a lot more frequently in the meantime. And maybe even I have a few anime reactions from my main channel that I'm gonna collab with this channel also in the meantime as well. But we appreciate y'all so so much. This is the Poneglyph podcast with the PNG boys. I'm your host, Jay, aka Milky Way J, along with my brother, our co-host. I couldn't do it without him, Ja. Appreciate you for another week, another episode. Appreciate you. Um, y'all, we will catch y'all on the next episode next week for episode 29. We are gonna have a great episode to react to, and we should have a really good chapter to break down as well. Um, those of y'all, I have had a few people uh message me real quick um about snow. I didn't, I didn't I didn't know y'all was working with y'all was rocking with snow as much as y'all was. Um, if we get another break week coming up, we may do it. Snow is is still currently watching the anime, and that is kind of hard with our schedules to like time to get him on. So we're not spoiling the current anime or talking about any manga. So it's safe, a safe bet, I'm gonna tell y'all, is just when uh One Piece goes on break again. But if we do get another opportunity where we just have the time and the and the uh availability to get Snow in here, we will get him on here because I surprisingly had two two separate accounts that aren't affiliated like with our personal group asked about a snow appearance. And and I think they were they were kind of watching around the same pace as Snow. So I think they were enjoying that. So um hey, stay tuned for that. But nonetheless, appreciate y'all, and we will catch y'all next week. PG boys, we out. Y'all be good, y'all be safe. Make sure y'all spread love safety.
