Good evening and welcome to Southwest Local News. A call has gone out for information on a missing boy in Hamilton. 14-year-old Felix was last seen in Hamilton on Wednesday, April the 22nd. It is unknown what he was last seen wearing, but Felix is Caucasian, 150 to 160 centimetres tall, medium build with blonde, brown shoulder length hair. Police and family have concerns for Felix's welfare due to his age and medical conditions. In Warnable, almost 800 people gathered at the dawn service before over 1,000 at the mid-morning service. As part of the commemorations, the Warner RSL unveiled a special memorial for Warnable soldiers who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. Speaking at the ceremony, RSL Warnable Committee member Colin Davis paid tribute to the men with the memorial to be based inside the RSL.

My perspective, a small photograph on a sheaf of poppies led to looking at people in a different light. We now have faces to names. They're no longer just etched on a wall, but they are real people, and they will be.

SPEAKER_11

Now things have escalated since then, but we're driving up, so we don't take um seats away from those desperately needing to get to and from Melbourne who can't drive. And we'll be hearing from the community that there'll be a petition there to sign. The governments are simply not listening to this to the community who are saying this is a chaotic mess, the announcement of free travel and the lack of six carriages that's resulting in the overcrowding. And we'll be taking that message to the Parliament, presenting the petition on the 5th of May when we next see.

We use the Ridley team, make a phone call, I guess high quality advice. We tend to have six weekly visits from the team where we do a full farm war and herd health check. They check in on production and the feeding rate. That's something I don't have to worry too much about because I'm always comfortable that they will have it under control. The feed that comes out of Ridley's fully confident every day of the year that it's high-quality grain or pellets.

Russell's Creek continued its winning ways on Saturday with a 59-point victory over Merivale. After three rounds, the Creekers have a perfect record, while the Tigers have lost their last three games after a good Friday win. Sam Kelly kicked five goals for Creek, while tough on baller Sam Alberts was best on ground. The win was set up when Creek kicked seven goals to one to lead by 37 points at the first break. In other games, Timber and Demons defeated Old Collegians.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, great win. Yeah, very happy to um to start the year 3-0 with some with some challenging challenging opposition. Um tested at times, but yeah, great, great win. And that was uh even on the weekend just to um win convincingly like we did. Well certainly their willingness to learn, um, you know, with a with a new coach coming in over the over the break. Um yeah, just just their willingness to to learn and get better and improve and seek feedback, um, and then put into practice, you know, the things that we've been working on throughout the summer. Um they've been able to put that into practice practice. And um you know, I I feel like they've gotten better every week. You know, they're they're learning the system and starting to get an idea for it and um yeah, they're continuing to improve. So yeah, very happy with that. There's a lot of lot of people in the team that are you know willing to play a role now and and potentially you know sacrifice uh their game in in uh support of helping the team and and doing what is required for the team. So, you know, to lose the caliber of players that we did, it's it's never never um easy, you know, to see them walk away. But um, you know, you support people if you go into play at high levels and and things like that. Um but you know, with the pet the quality that we we brought back in also with a lot of them being uh past Russell's Creek junior players, you know, you love to see those guys come back and continue their senior careers at at their junior club, and and they've been fantastic, you know. As I said, that willingness to learn and improve and get better. Um and we've seen we've seen big improvements from some of those guys already this year.

In Warnerbull and District League A grade netball, Merivale won a tight contest against Russell's Creek. The Tigers led by four goals at quarter time and marginally outscored Creek for the remaining quarters to win 50 to 42. Chloe Lovell top scored with 28 goals, and Georgia Martin was influential in defense and attack. Naranda had the day off after Dennington forfeited, while Allensford defeated Kalura Nurat by six goals. Oldlegiance defeated Timbo Demons, and South Rovers were too strong for Pammua. Finally, former Cobden Jr. Sam Walsh starred for Carlton in AFL Round 7 on the weekend. Walsh gathered 32 disposals as the Blues fell just short of Fremantle. The Dockers opened a small gap early and were able to keep the Blues at arm's length. Walsh was rewarded for his efforts with three coaches' votes in the AFL Champion Player Award. That wraps up sport. It was a pleasant weekend across the district with sun sticking around today also. After the break, we'll go through the forecast for the rest of the region.
