Matt Szpindor, a 39-year veteran of the Fire Service, retired as a Lieutenant assigned to Squad Co. #1 in the Fire Department, City of New York (NY). He is a 22-year veteran of the FDNY and has served in several volunteer and career fire departments in over 4 states. He has served in just about every rank in the Volunteer Fire Service, including 7 years as Chief of Department. He served on both PA TF-1 and NY TF-1 of FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Task Force System. He has been a PA State-certified Fire Instructor since 1998. He is back in Western PA and is still actively teaching for the Allegheny County Fire Academy (ACFA/CCAC), Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), Bucks County Community College, and Westmoreland County Community College PSTC, and other training organizations.
