SPEAKER_05

Welcome back, ATN listeners. Spring has sprung here in the world of all things. Nemahawk. Excited for this episode. I mean, excited for spring, man. Hey, yes. Love the weather.

SPEAKER_04

Yes. Love the weather. You know, uh, I hear and um think of spring. I think of, you know, uh starting anew, a certain level of freshness. Yes. And hey, I'm kind of refreshed, right? We had a couple weeks away. Yes, we did. So, listeners, good to have you back in. Welcome. Mr. Williams here with uh, as always, Jaden Saints, and looking forward to walk you through the was, the is, and the will be in the world of all things Nima Hall. Jay, it's been a while. Yeah. We're refreshed, we're ready for this spring season here. Let's do it. Um, let's just kind of start off in general. How was your break? How was your refresher?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it was it was really nice. Um, lots of sitting down, lots of doing nothing, lots of doing something though, too. Because I did finish my senior project. Uh that was a that was a big, big check mark uh for me. Um but then after that, man, just enjoying the lake. It was unfortunately a little cold the first two days right.

SPEAKER_04

We had all the warmth leading up to break, and then we've had some warmth thereafter. So, yeah, why not have some uh absolute phenomenal uh wintry weather again for at least a couple of the days of that spring break refresher?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and then uh luckily, you know, Wednesday and Thursday kind of turned it around. It was nice and warm, got the UVs, uh went on the jet ski, skirt skirted that thing around. Let me tell you, uh there so at the Lake of the Ozarks.

SPEAKER_04

What is the jet ski capacity? Is this one where you can throw like a family of four on there, or is this just like a two-seater skirt?

SPEAKER_05

You could probably fit three. It's recommended two. You could fit three though, um, if you really wanted to. Um but no, like I was saying, uh, you know, the Lake of the Ozarks, uh, they actually take the water some of the water out. Um so it it it goes out um into this, I don't remember what river it is, um, but the dam, you know, lets some water in, lets some water out. Anyways, it lets it out um and then shuts it, and so the waters, you know, receded back pretty pretty far back. Um and so, you know, I was I was skirt skirting around the cove and I go back into this one area and it's just mud. And I'm like, whoa. Like we better not be. I stayed in the water, but it was it was getting close. Yeah, it was getting close. I I almost let my intrusive thoughts win, uh, but we we held off. Um it was a great break, seeing family, always a great time. Um how was your how was your skiing trip?

SPEAKER_04

Hey, thanks for asking. Yeah, no problem. It was absolutely wonderful. Okay, I always joke around with Mrs. Williams, you know, relatively busy with with things professionally. Uh I don't really have any um frequent or expensive hobbies outside of just like doing school stuff and maybe coaching some some basketball on the side, you know. Uh, but uh this one very infrequent hobby is relatively expensive as well. So it's kind of like collectively you know taking over for uh any of the other smaller or more frequent hobbies that could be more time consuming. But uh absolute blast. We love everything about uh the world that is ski culture, you know. Um and Breckenridge is built to, you know, host the tourists, right? To host the uh uh locals from Denver that are coming out to ski, whether it be at the beginning of the week, midweek, end of the week, weekend, um ready to host uh all the spring breakers that are getting out there. Uh we had an absolute blast. It was um uh uncharacter list uncharacteristically warm and also a very limited amount of snowfall so far. So I think it was the uh lowest base, all right. So least amount of base snowfall they've had in like 25 years. Whoa. Uh but the skiing was still pretty solid. Yeah. So we were able to get all across the mountain, um, enjoyed hanging out down on Main Street in Breck here and there. Um got to catch up with some family hadn't seen or been able to spend uh quality time with for several months. So uh absolute blast. And um man, I could yes, definitely a happy place, could go and just chill there forever.

SPEAKER_05

Forever. Um but man, that was our spring break.

SPEAKER_04

That was pretty much it. Yeah. Came back, came back, uh, got to doing some work there on Friday and Saturday a little bit. Um uh hung out, you know, hung out with some friends over the weekend. That was that was bad. And here we are. Okay, all right. Here we are, ready to roll. Here we are, ready to roll, refreshed. Refreshed. Refreshed and ready to rock. So let's go ahead and let's officially rock through the was that was the past couple of weeks here in the World of All Things Dima Hall. Before uh we hit uh full speed into spring break. We did have the Thunder Forensics team visit Clay Center on Saturday, March 14th. A big round of applause again for the forensic squad. They brought home another dub, another Sweet Stakes Championship. Uh another dub, another one, as our boy DJ Cowley would say. Yep. Okay, uh, dozens of state qualifying events, new individuals qualifying for champs or festivals, individual champs, etc. Just another stellar day from the Thunder Forensics team. Of course, we all navigated through uh what was spring break week, and as we just recapped, a phenomenal time had by us two. Hopefully, our listeners had just as of a refreshing spring break, an enjoyable spring break and time away from the grind and monotony of the school year. Yeah. Saturday. Saturday, the 21st. So just a few days back, okay, the JV baseball team competed in the annual Sebetha JV tournament. That was a fresh turf field over there at Sebetha. And if I'm not mistaken, we had record highs in Nimahawk County on Saturday. So those gentlemen got to go over and get on that fresh turf. Very first competitive outing of the season. And about like 96 plus degrees. That's the tip of the cap to the boys. Let's give them a real applause. We're grinding away. Braving the weather. Grinding away. Yeah, freezing it out early on in the week. And hey, by the end of the week, you know, it's kind of like old school Spartan training, though, right? Do you remember learning about uh the Spartans? A little bit of the Greek city-state and the Athenian soul. Yeah, yeah, okay, all right. So, you know, the Trojans, etc., all that, yeah, just training in extreme climactic conditions. There you go. Our baseball team could play on Pluto or the surface of the sun. We're good with either one of those. Oh man. Hey, the boys did go one and one on the day. They took second officially in this JV tournament. It was a four-teamer. Uh defeated Riverside 7-5 before falling to a uh really formidable Hiawatha team, 13-9. But good jobs, JV. Some high scoring there. Love to see that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You want to get some runs. You can get some runs when you can.

SPEAKER_05

Hey, Monday, what do we have going on, Jay? Yeah, so uh softball uh officially started their season season by uh traveling over to Clay Center. Uh the varsity fell 6-1 and 7-1, while the JV fell nine to eight and then 15 to 0.

SPEAKER_04

And those contests were uh competitive through most of the games. Um I know that the 15-0 won a couple of innings there, a few innings there, I should say, but uh it took uh all of seven innings for those leads in the varsity game to grow. And unfortunately, we just had some bad breaks when we're getting ready to we've got runners in scoring position and just you know seeing eyeballs uh kind of rolling through against us, um plays not happening, just just the the perfect uh um swinging bunt to get in two or three runs for Clay Center in a in an in and in a two-out rally. So uh gals fought hard. Uh also a little bit um uh um not empty-handed, but a little bit lighter of a roster with some of our uh varsity players not having returned yet from their spring trip. Yes, spring break trip uh over the pond. Yeah, that's true. But uh still uh solid action there from the gals. Uh in completely different weather, right? We had 96 plus degree, 98 plus degree heat on Saturday for the JV baseball tournament, or it's about that. And we were bundled up with stocking caps, gloves, hand warmers, yeah, uh, and trying to stay warm down in uh clay center on Monday. Hey, uh some of our listeners remember this guy, uh his name is Anthony Doumas. He had a daughter playing for Clay Center, so uh shout out to our guy Anthony Doomas. Uh, he did tell me he has also stumbled across the pod. So he might be an occasional listener. There you go. IT and the other one. But we do have some we do have some uh locals here that I know would remember Anthony and his time at Nimaha Valley, uh, but uh great Clay Center resident there, and he always does keep tabs on us still here up north and always asking about how everybody back home is doing. So if you get a chance, look him up on Facebook, send a message, uh carry on a conversation with old Dumas there. Yeah, okay. The FFA team competed in an ag sales event yesterday down at Wamigo. Results are pending, and we also had a yearbook trip. What was that?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, we went to uh Kent City to uh the varsity uh yearbook plant. Um super, super cool experience. I got to do it last year. Um we had great pizza. Man, shout out to I believe uh something the West or something like that. Uh great pizza, a great local pizza that we had, uh, but also just a great um opportunity for our yearbookers to get out um and kind of see you know what their book goes goes through and the production process, physical production process.

SPEAKER_04

It's it's pretty neat. It's pretty neat. So glad you guys were able to take advantage of that. Uh well that does it for the was. We breezed through that. We breeze through that. Love it. You know, but we did breeze through it. Yep. Um and speaking of breezy, it is breezy today. We were recording this podcast on Thursday, um March 26th. It's gonna be breezy this afternoon and a little warm for opening day for Thunder. Baseballing day. Opening day for Thunder baseball. The gentlemen are traveling down to Leonardville. Home of Jordy Nelson. Yes. I gotta throw that in. Okay. I gotta throw that in. Um, but to turn down to Leonardville, and we have, I believe, a Thunder Baseball player and Thunder Baseball coach Skyler Mayberry on deck, sitting down with you, coming up right after this.

SPEAKER_08

And if you have not yet, please go order a yearbook at yearbookordercenter.com. The code is 17283. We have been working super hard as a staff making R Ideas come to life and are excited for all of you to see them.

SPEAKER_09

Have a great rest of the year from the NCHS radar.

SPEAKER_05

Two very special guests, Levi Thomas and Coach Mayberry in the house for baseball season. Spring has sprung. Isn't that right, Levi? Yeah, spring has sprung. Baseball season is here. Um, how's practice kind of been so far for you guys?

SPEAKER_06

I think it's been pretty good. We got a lot of hard workers and these freshmen are really filling their roles. Uh learning how to do all the things, setting up practice and team cuts and everything.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I mean, I would I would agree uh with that. You know, first thanks thanks for doing this, Jaden. This is a really cool thing. Been a listener all year. There you go, ATN listener right here. I do appreciate it. Love hearing your voice. Um, the start of the season has gone great. Um, like kind of Levi said, we have a good group of freshmen, about nine of them out, and um, they're hard workers. I've had these seniors and juniors for a long, a lot of baseball seasons at this point, you know, helping them coach uh summer baseball. And and so they kind of know the expectation going into it, uh, which makes practice a little bit more efficient, and they can teach as well as coach a little bit for those younger guys. So um probably the best thing though is we've had spring weather. It's not 30 degrees out there and blowing 20, 30 miles from the north, which is always awful. So we've had the spring weather, knock on wood, it'll stay.

SPEAKER_05

And hopefully so, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

We'll get to play a little bit baseball.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Uh yeah, you kind of talk about that culture um and cultivating that through you know the freshman, and it honestly starts at the freshman. I would probably totally agree with that um in terms of football this year as well. As starting from the bottom, you know, great group of seniors um leading this year for at least the baseball team, and then juniors as well, including Levi yourself, um, who plays catcher, correct? Yeah. So what what what's that like um being a catcher?

SPEAKER_06

Um I really like catching because you're uh really in charge of stuff. You get uh call the plays for bunts and steals and call the pitches and everything. I think it's a great leading role. Uh if you do good at catching, you can really help the team in all aspects.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And then so last year um you were uh the catcher for varsity, I believe, right? Yeah. Um kind of explain last year and how maybe you've grown from uh that catching role uh from then to now.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I'd say it's really hard uh going from freshman catching to varsity catching and JV and everything, because it's a lot faster. Game moves quicker and people are a lot faster around the bases, so Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Um yeah, um just just kind of curious what has been uh the biggest highlight of your career so far?

SPEAKER_06

Probably the home run at Sebetha.

SPEAKER_05

Home run at Sabetha, describe describe it for the listeners.

SPEAKER_06

Um well I was in a slump, I'd say. I was batting like 275, and then the uh J Sebetha gets down on pitchers and has a slower one. I just take one out to right field.

SPEAKER_05

There you go. Awesome, awesome, good stuff. Let's uh circle back uh to practice um and and curious to hear your thoughts on this, coach. Uh, but what's kind of the best thing about practice um and then maybe some of the worst things about practice?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I mean, obviously the best thing is just being with the kids. That's you know what you get into coaching for is to be around the kids to teach them a game that you love and to hope that they respect it and fall in love with it as well. Um for me, and it's kind of weird, but the best thing about practice is when it runs efficiently. Uh when guys know what they're doing ahead of time, there's no downtime, they're you know, they're sprinting or jogging to the next station or we're sprinting to team D or individual D. And you know, when those things run smoothly, it makes it appear that the kids are really um you know enjoying it. One, but also that you know they're they're really working hard, you know, and and trying to get better, and and then they know what to do. Um, we like to think that by the end of April, you know, I could tell Levi, here's the practice plan, he could run that thing. And and we could. We have a lot of guys, especially those seniors, but you know, Levi is one of those guys, he's one of our leaders, as he mentioned, as a catcher, he's kind of the quarterback of our defense. Um, and so I could give a practice plan to one of these guys and they could run it. So that's the great thing. You know, it's hard to say what the worst thing is. I would say it's always you know the weather in Kansas during the springtime, you just never know what you're gonna get. We've been blessed. Um, besides that first week we've been outside. I think the coldest day was like 45, 48 with a little bit of wind. So the worst thing is always always the weather in spring, and you know that as a track guy.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah. No, I can attest to that too. Uh Levi, what's worse best thing about practice?

SPEAKER_06

I'd say the worst thing is probably the cycle.

SPEAKER_05

The cycle. So explain to the listeners what the cycle is, because I've also been hearing about this cycle.

SPEAKER_06

So we do it once a year, and you've gotta take your hat and a ball and a bear crawl and push the ball from home to first, jog all the way back around to first, push it to second and a bear crawl, and all the way around all the way to home, and then run around one more time. So how how long does that usually take? Oh, depends. At least 15 minutes usually. Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_05

Wow. Okay. Uh, and then the best thing, what what what's the best thing about practice?

SPEAKER_06

Oh, I like hitting stations and live hitting. It's just good reps to have out on the field.

SPEAKER_05

Good reps, yeah. Hitting those dingers, hitting those home runs, exactly. Uh Coach May, uh what kind of got you into uh coaching? Uh we we know uh you coach uh other sports, uh, but what got you uh the head coaching um position here um at Nemohaw's uh central? What what kind of got you into that?

SPEAKER_07

Uh well specific to you know coaching here at Nemohaw Central, I was an assistant under Terry Stevie. You know, we all love Coach Stevie and was able to learn a lot. Um and then you know when he moved on, I you know he had a daughter who's gonna be a senior who was a really good softball player, so he wanted to spend time watching her. And so he moved on and I was able to kind of just sneak into the into the role, I'd like to say it was kind of a late decision. I'm very blessed though that you know Mrs. Cook and Mr. Coleman at the time were hired me, of course, along with Mr. Sism as well. Um so I kind of just fell into the role of being an assistant for a few years and just moving my way up. And you know, I like to say I earned my stripes a little bit. In general, though, coaching is I would say it's in my blood. As you guys know, Mr. Mr. May has been a coach for 30 plus years. He's been a head baseball coach, and he really hasn't been too involved with baseball when he moved up to Syndica. He coached a few years, won a won a state championship. Um but growing up, he was a baseball guy. Um, was a head coach down in Houston, Texas, was a head coach down in Southeast Kansas, started a program where I grew up and baseball's in the blood. It's uh I grew up on a baseball field. I mean, three or four months I was on a baseball field, you know, just at practice with my dad. And so, you know, baseball's a beautiful sport, it's a slowed-down version of everything that's so fast-paced, I would say, in life, but in other sports as well, where hey, we're gonna be here for two to three hours just relaxing and enjoying a game of baseball, and for us, you know, playing hard and getting after it on the baseball field. But yeah, it always comes back when you're what what gets you into coaching is I wanted to be around kids, I wanted to teach the lessons. I had great coaches growing up. Um, I think that's obviously a big indicator that I wanted to kind of get into it. When you have good coaches, you you want to give back to the kids, um, just like those coaches were able to give back to me. So uh just probably want my dad, you know, that relationship, and then of course the coaches I've had has uh have wanted me to get back into coaching, along with teaching as well, is right. You just want to be around the kids and help them uh see the potential that you know us coaches or us teachers see in them.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Um and then specifically what what's this team like? Uh this baseball team this season. You you kind of mentioned a little bit about uh the seniors uh coaching them for a while uh between summer baseball um and then actual the the the actual season and then also the juniors as well. But what uh gets you excited about this team this year?

SPEAKER_07

For me, it it's their work ethic. Um you know the senior class just in general through all sports has a great work ethic. They like to be successful, they work hard to be successful. The junior class is no different. And so when you have that at the top, it it really makes it easy to coach those sophomores and freshmen as well. And so we just have a hard working crew. Um I I don't have to ask them to work hard, you know. Very often I should say, I mean, there's still you know young men and so still learning how to do that with consistency. I think that's a big thing is working hard consistently. You can do it one or two days, but can you do it for five, ten, twenty days in a row? Um, but that's probably the best thing about them. They're just good kids too, good, good, good guys who you know, if we didn't have this relationship of coach and athlete, I'd want to be around them in the classroom or want to be around them outside of the the baseball field as well. So good group of kids, they work their butts off for me, and I appreciate that.

SPEAKER_05

Uh Levi looking forward um to the baseball season. We have who do we who do we have on Thursday? Who do we got?

SPEAKER_06

We have Riley County today. And uh they didn't lose very many people. They've got some older guys, but we can definitely hang with them for sure.

SPEAKER_05

So we got a doubleheader at Riley County. Yeah. Okay, at Riley County uh today when we're recording the podcast. This is a Thursday. Um so uh good luck uh to you guys uh today against the Falcons of uh Riley County here. Um and then kind of some final thoughts. What can we look forward to this season?

SPEAKER_06

Um I think we're gonna have a great defense because we've got good players at every position here. If we can work the bat around and get bunts down, we can get people on the base pads and score.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I mean I completely agree. I I do really don't have any concerns defensively. You know, we got a lot of great athletes, like you said, out there. Um we'll see with the bats. You know, Levi and uh Caleb Heinock are kind of our main guys coming back from last year who had great numbers. And great at bats. But we look at you know Jack Mackey is going to be a three year starter, has played four years varsity. Carter Hikes, another guy who's played three years. And you add in, you know, Camden Schmitz, he's been our number one pitcher the last three years. So it's like we feel pretty good about what we have. As long as we can you know get a little hot and find some uh find some hits, uh timely hits, lay down buns, run around the bases a little bit, seal some bags, you're gonna see a lot of uh success. Um and you know, we're more focused on just playing clean baseball than the wins. The wins will come, the losses will come, but you know, we're focused on playing clean baseball, and if we do that consistently, you know, at the end of the season, we'll we'll have the record that you know these guys want to have.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Yeah. Well, thank you guys very much uh for stepping on in uh and doing the this little interview here. Really appreciate you guys. Uh good luck again today, um, and then the rest of the season. Thanks, Jaden. Appreciate you. Yep, no problem. Hey, roll thunder. Roll thunder.

SPEAKER_02

To every referee, umpire, and judge in high school sports. We want to say, we see you.

SPEAKER_00

We see everything you do for us that goes unnoticed. We see the positive role models that you are, we see the way you get unfairly criticized just for doing your job.

SPEAKER_02

The truth is, we couldn't play without you.

SPEAKER_00

So thank you for investing your time in us.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you for protecting the integrity of the game, no matter what.

SPEAKER_00

We hope you always know how much we appreciate you.

SPEAKER_02

Because without you, this is just recess. It's not really a game.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you for always making it possible for us to play the sports we love.

SPEAKER_04

Jay, is Levi still gonna be swinging the Crayola Crayon bat this year? Do we know? I don't know. I should have asked. It was a pencil pencil bat. Okay, yeah, yeah. But it would be cool if it was with Crayola. Is it modeled after the Ticonderoga? That is the Cadillac of pencil size, I'll have to say. Uh, I'm not I thought it was. I think that was a currency item back in grade school. I couldn't remember exactly what it was. You never gave up on that Ticonderoga either. Like you would use that down to where it was like two inches, and the teacher would holler at you because it was affecting your penmanship and potentially crippling your hand permanently. Did you guys ever use pencils? Oh, yeah, we go.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, we use that, yeah. You're you're speaking right to you know uh my childhood there.

SPEAKER_04

Every time, every time Levi stepped up to bat last year, I'm thinking pencils, Ticonderoga, and I'm just all of a sudden a Russian nostalgia. Oh, yes. I guess we'll have to see tonight when he steps up to the plate.

SPEAKER_05

We'll see.

SPEAKER_04

Travel over to Leonardville. Travel over to Leonardville. 4 30 p.m. start for that uh varsity baseball doubleheader, and of course, then there JV boys will travel up here tomorrow for a 4 30 p.m. JV doubleheader start up at Swisherfield. Super excited for Thunder baseball, and of course, all of our spring activities, and we'll have some coaches and and participants on future podcasts for our listeners to enjoy. But uh yeah, great interview, my man. Thanks. Good stuff right there. Yeah, great. Super excited for that. Um one other question I have, you know, because I think baseball, I think the announcing, I think the walk-up songs. What would you go with for a walk-up song, Jay?

SPEAKER_05

Ooh, walk-up song. Honestly, this might be cheesy. Welcome to my house.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, with Pitbull, not pitbull, that's uh uh um uh flow rider. Flow rider, yeah. Flow rider.

SPEAKER_05

Welcome to my house. It's it's like a quick little little hitter, I feel like, like a oh yeah, like like confidence. It exudes confidence. You're right.

SPEAKER_04

Within about three bars, you're good to go. Yes, exactly.

SPEAKER_05

Boom.

SPEAKER_04

Boom. Shake you right into it. Yeah. Shake you right into it. With that.

SPEAKER_05

What'd you say? Tyrank? Ticonderoga. Ticonderoga. I was just gonna call it the pencil, but I I thought I'd I thought I'd get a shot. Oh, pencil bat. Pencil bat, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's a Dixon Ticonderoga, I believe. I believe Ticonderoga is the style of pencil. Dixon is the brand. But yeah, that's the Cadillac of pencils right there, man. That's the Lincoln Continental of Pencils right there. That's the uh Lexus, that is the Rolls-Royce of pencils right there. The OG. I'll just say the OG. Perfect spot here for like Yimahal Valley Motors or Honeyman Ford. You know, look at the. Where are you at? Yeah. Where we at? We won't get those. You know, maybe maybe in year two or year five or five. We'll get some diamond night read in right here. All right. We just mentioned we got Thunder Baseball on the horizon today, uh, and we've got some JV Thunder baseball on the horizon tomorrow. As well as softball. So let's get into the we'll be in the world of all things, Nima Haw here. And yes, we do have our varsity softball team also traveling down to Riley County today. Their competition will take place in Riley, so the fields are not adjacent to each other. The softball gals will play in Riley, the varsity boys will play in Leonardville, and there's no JV action today. The JV girls will go back down to Riley tomorrow and play the JV Lady Falcons in a doubleheader. So that is the uh landscape for baseball here in our immediate future. Um we mentioned the JV contest happening tomorrow. We do not have any forensics anymore down at Washington County. It's all about getting ready for what tomorrow night, Jay? The play. Here at home. We got some JV baseball. We got some JV softball on the road, but yes, tomorrow it's all about the spring musical. Yep.

SPEAKER_05

Which is The Little Mermaid.

SPEAKER_04

The Little Mermaid Under the Sea. Can't wait to hear some of that, man. Like, you know, again, like back when uh back when my my kids, most notably the sophomore that's in the play, right? You know, like her early childhood was a steady rotation of Frozen, Little Mermaid, and Wreck It Ralph. Oh wow. Those were the consistent words. Oh, Wreck It Ralph is underrated. Tremendous, tremendous film. Great. But uh yes, uh, I have to say I uh walked around uh the house on uh Roanoke uh hours a day doing the old Ariel uh sound bites, you know what I mean? Yeah you did that. I freaked I freaked uh I freaked Katherine Junghans out, maybe Olivia Gangs from Eric. I said I was bored for this part. So no, what happened was I used to yeah, get Wrigley all riled up by jumping into some little mermaid tunage. But uh super excited for this one, man. Are you excited for this one?

SPEAKER_05

I'm excited for this one, man. It's gonna be a lot of fun, a lot of colors, um, a lot of music, a lot of dancing. Um, yeah, come on, come on out uh tomorrow night. This is your wheelhouse, it sounds like this is my wheelhouse, so excited about it.

SPEAKER_04

Big cast, big crew. Yep, really excited to see what we've got. We've got four performances. 7 p.m. on Friday night, 6 slash 6 30 p.m. on Saturday. That is the dinner theater. And I think there might be some single just uh tickets for viewing on sale at the door. Uh and then we have two showings on Sunday, the 2 p.m. and the 7 p.m. So super excited for this. Get out there, check out the Little Mermaid, enjoy the NCHS Fine Arts Department and their productions. And we've got another round of applause here because Miss Haney, we had already noted that she was the KSHSAA Heart of the Arts Award winner, but it was just announced earlier this week. She is also the NFHS, the National Federation of High Schools, the Section Five winner. Whoa, what does Section 5 say? Section five, so she's the regional winner essentially. Oh, okay, okay. So it goes up into the Dakotas, Nebraska, okay, more slide over to uh Montana, down into Wyoming and Colorado. That is Section 5. So she was unfortunately not named the national recipient for the Heart of the Arts Award, but was one of the regional winners. Awesome. So tip of the Captain Miss Handy and all of her Skin Hollow Awards. Yes, all of her Thunder participants in the area of drama, uh speech, art, etc. So super excited for her and for all of our Thunder Thespians engaging in the Little Mermaid this weekend.

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_04

Monday home openers for Nimaha Varsity Baseball and Nimaha softball teams. Both the varsity and JV softball teams are slated to play. There is a chance that Royal Valley doesn't have the roster to support games on the same day from both JV and varsity, so we might have to postpone those JV games. But right now, planning on both varsity teams and the JV softball squad to have their home opener here against the Royal Valley Panthers. Varsity, of course, taking place up at Swisher at 4.30 p.m. Varsity softball at Seneca West at 4.30 p.m. And ladies and gentlemen, we are charging Gate this year. So we will have Gate as you pull into park or walk into the gravel lot. Um make sure you give uh Kristen Wheel dryer a wave. We'll still accept our USD 115 passes, uh, but we are gonna take Gate this year to help us uh kind of uh cover some of the costs for all of the uh umpire fees that uh rack up throughout the spring. Not a lot of stuff coming in, but a lot of stuff going out in the spring when it comes to activities and fees for registration andor uh participation in several of our events. So we are taking gate. Uh we'll accept USD 115 passes though. Darn umpire fees, man. Yeah, danging them umpire. Um but uh yeah, so uh just a heads up on that. Um but looking forward to that uh Monday evening and then Tuesday, K Club is having their annual spring cleaning event, uh, slightly during, but most definitely after school. Uh JV Baseball will travel down to Hoyt to take on the Royal Valley Panthers and a JV doubleheader. And then JV Softball, we're actually gonna play host to the Centralia Panthers, another squad that can't do both on the same night. Uh we do have uh varsity contest down the road, Thursday, April 9th, against the Centralia Panthers. We traveled down there this year on the varsity softball side of things. But the JV Softball girls are gonna host the Centralia Lady Panthers up at Seneca West at 4 30. There we go. A little local. The 30th century. Getting after it. No track, no golf yet. We're still a couple days away from that. But that is the uh world of all things, Nima Hall, the will be Jaden Sites.

SPEAKER_05

Uh again, and we already said it, but man, come out to the musical. It's gonna be a great time. Um, I know um all the all the students love the support, and you know, however nerve-wracking it may be to see a bunch of people, you know, out in the the little pack commons, oh man, it it gets me going. When I'm in the flow, I give a show. Um, and so I'm ready to go uh and give you guys a show.
