SPEAKER_06

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back. We're back. We're back. We're back. It's the All Things Nima Haw Podcast here with Jaden Sites, King Boogie himself, and Mr. Williams. Okay. Welcome on in, everybody. Yes, welcome on in. It's been a minute. It's been a minute. As the kids would say. Right? It's a little bit of a hot minute. Hot minute. Uh our schedules, various conflicts, etc., the prolonged Easter holiday season with a couple of extra days off last week prevented us from being able to sit down and recap the uh the week that was, the is and the will be in the world of all things, D-Mahall, in a in a timely, weekly fashion, as we have throughout the school year here. So we've had a little bit of a little bit of a break here again from our listeners.

SPEAKER_05

Well, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Let's I think there's some grace probably from our listeners for sure. But as was posted uh on social media, I think it was early this week or late last week, uh, just weren't able to get into the ATN World headquarters and knock out our weekly installment. Uh but hey, it's great to be back.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it's about a five-minute drive, you know, for for both of us. But yeah, just couldn't get in the office. But yep.

SPEAKER_06

One thing or another, man. And boy, let's jump right in with the was in the world of all things, Demon Hall, because we've had a lot going on, and it has been one thing or the other. We're gonna circle all the way back to late March here. All the way back to late March here, Thursday the 26th. All right. And we're gonna pick things up with varsity baseball and softball, traveling down to Riley County. It was the debut for the varsity baseball team, and it was the second night out for the softball ladies. And it was a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to results. Uh the varsity boys earned a split after falling in game one of the Falcons 11-8. Uh, ruled them in game two. Ladies fell in both contests to the Dirty Birds of RC. Um, and I believe the last one was a run rule, but the first one was a little bit closer. We followed up on Friday the 27th with JV action. Yep, JV. Uh, Riley County's fields not super accommodating for having both softball contests happening on the same day. So we sent our JV softball down to Riley on Friday the 27th. Their JV baseball team came up to Swisher. The JV gentlemen swept the Falcons in relatively dominating fashion. The JV softball girls fell in the first contest, but did earn a 14-14 tie. Oh. Yes. And you might wonder how's that happened? Well, in the JV, we've got some rules inside of the Big East League where we'll use the international tiebreaker if we haven't met the time limit yet. Uh, it's an hour and a half time limit. International tiebreaker, we place somebody on uh second base, etc. It's kind of what the MLB does now. Nice. Long story short, after all of those bells and whistles, 14-14 tie.

SPEAKER_05

Wow. Good game there.

SPEAKER_06

Getting to the weekend that was the 27th, 28th, and 29th. We had one major item. One major item that was on the agenda that was on everybody's mind. Yep. Jay, it was the NC Drama Department's presentation of The Little Mermaid.

SPEAKER_04

Little Mermaid.

SPEAKER_06

Yes. Wow, that was about half capacity of your energy and effort on Friday and Saturday.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, half for sure. For sure. You're right, actually.

SPEAKER_06

Hey, uh uh round of applause. I know Oh, little button.

SPEAKER_04

God, it's been so long I can't even remember what. This one?

SPEAKER_06

There we go. Yep. There we go. Hey, round of applause for drama department director, Miss Haney. Yes. Uh, volunteer assistant this year, Cody Steinloggy. Steinloggy, baby. Yep. All of you student cast and crew members. Great job. I attended Friday night's show. Uh, well over two hours of performance. Yes. Uh, you did it again Saturday night for the dinner theater. Yes. You did it again on Sunday afternoon for the matinee for the little kids. Yep. You did it again Sunday night for the community. Four shows. I heard just compliment after compliment after compliment. Well done, wildly entertaining. Better better than Disney's rendition in the movie format. Yeah. All right. Live, animated, digital, do not care. Stupendous stuff. Jay, tell us a little bit about it. Give us your perspective here. Uh, and again, maybe maybe your character, I believe you were the French chef.

SPEAKER_05

I was the French chef, yeah. Chef Louis. Chef Louis. Um, but yeah, uh man, just really didn't I I really didn't know how I felt about this play, honestly, to to to to begin with. Um and you know, when I when I got my character, obviously it wasn't a major, wasn't a major role um by any means, but at the same time significant for the act that you were in, right?

SPEAKER_06

Like the actual scenes you were in, you were prominent. But were you were you uh the guy the frequency at which you were revealed in each scene? Yeah, not so much, but the scenes you were in, boom. Boom. Boom.

SPEAKER_05

Some said it was the show, and I was like, okay, let's let's chill out. Because really, overall, the show was great. Um, you know, a lot of good colors. I love the colors, the costumes. Mrs. Haney did a great job with the costumes. Uh the singing was pretty, pretty good, honestly. Um, and just just really proud of everybody and the the effort and the you know, man, the musical and all the the plays and stuff. It takes a long time to get it going to make sure we have a really good show. I'm just uh proud of the Friday and Saturday night show that I was a part of. Unfortunately, I had to leave uh for the uh Sunday showings uh due to a college visit. Um and so Luke uh Gansrum actually took my place, did a great job. Uh so uh courtesy there to Luke on a great two shows there Sunday. So yeah, great stuff.

SPEAKER_06

Phenomenal stuff, phenomenal stuff. And I did hear this comment from several uh individuals, several patrons that took it in. Man, it'd be really nice to be able to take that play in, that musical in in an auditorium-like setting. Yes. So just gonna plant that seed one more time for any of our listeners out there. Boy, an auditorium at NCHS would be phenomenal. Oh, yeah, what Miss Haney and again, you students uh as cast and career are able to do with the uh limited accommodations that we have. Again, we're we're blessed to have what we have, no doubt. But woo, man, in comparison to other schools our size and other schools our size in our area, man, it'd be nice to have an auditorium. Uh just make things flow and work a little bit more um accommodating to everybody. So uh, but yeah, stellar job, uh, tip of the cap again to the NCH Giromet Department and their very, very, very, very, very, very successful uh performances of Disney's The Little Mermaid. Hey, Monday, March 30th. We had a short week. Last week was a short week. It was two days of school, Monday, Tuesday, and then we had a prolonged Easter break for all of you students. Staff still came in on Wednesday, April 1st. What a cruel joke, right? What a cruel joke. Hey, hey, no school for everybody. Oh, April 1st. Staff, you're still in here. You're still here. April Fools, right? Yeah. So we had Monday the 30th. We had a little varsity uh softball and baseball action along with some JV softball action. The home opener. Home opener for our Thunder baseball varsity and JV and varsity softball teams. We hosted the Royal Valley Panthers. Jay, how did things end up here in Seneca?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, both the boys and the JV girls rolled. I mean rolled the Panthers uh with both teams run rolling the Panthers.

SPEAKER_06

15 run run rules, yep. 15.

SPEAKER_05

It's 15 after three, ten after five. Yep, got things done. And then while the verse varsity girls earned a thrilling split with a walk-off victory in game two, eight to seven.

SPEAKER_06

Fell eight to three in game one. Just uh every time we got runners in position to score, it was just one of those hits that just somehow, boom, directly to the second baseman. Or just a liner right to first base. Okay, or bases are loaded, and it's one of those swinging bunts, and the catcher's able to grab it and step on home. Uh so we just couldn't get uh some of the brakes in game one, but the ladies were able to manufacture their brakes in game two, and yes, got a thrilling walk-off eight to seven victory. Do you know? God, it was so long ago I can't even remember now. I can't even remember now. Hey, shout out to that person. Shout out to that person. Yes. Uh stellar stuff, though, from Monday, March 30th. On Tuesday, JV Baseball uh returned the favorite to Royal Valley. They traveled down to Hoyt to take on the JV Panthers in a single game contest. They got the dub six to one. JV Softball got some additional action. They hosted the Centrillia Lady Panthers up at Seneca West, and they earned two victories. There you go. Earned two victories against their neighbors to the south. So exciting stuff there for the JV Gals. A heck of a way for them to head on in to that prolonged Easter break. Because as we stated, we did not have any school on Monday, April 1st. So you students got to enjoy some extra time there. But many of you were back here in the building or at least parking in the lot and jumping on a bus or jumping in a van or jumping in an expedition because we had a lot going on on Thursday, April 2nd. Uh we'll begin with varsity baseball, varsity softball, and Thunder Track all traveled down to Silver Lake. JV Softball was canceled due to field conditions, and then the JV baseball game that was scheduled for last Friday, the third, was also canceled due to unideal field conditions up here at Swisher. Uh, but varsity baseball got a split down at Silver Lake, some wildly entertaining contest, won 6-5 in game one before following 13-12 in game two, and we had a chance. Had a play at the plate where we got thrown out. The game tying run. Yes, just did not get there soon enough, unfortunately. And Silver Lake was able to escape and salvage a split with a 13-12 victory. The gals took on again. Lake was one of the best uh state champions in volleyball. State champions of girls' vol uh basketball. Hey, guess what? Uh their softball team's also pretty good. Yeah, why not? Definitely one of the uh three or four best in the entire state when it comes to softball. They have lost a couple of consecutive state championship softball uh games as well over the last couple of years. And our gals uh hung in there, ended up getting run rolled though uh later on in the contest in each of those games. Track, mixed bag of results. It was the winter invitational down at Silver Lake. Although the weather wasn't too shabby, was it?

SPEAKER_05

It wasn't. No, it wasn't. Usually it's pretty bad. Yeah, yeah, maybe 50 degrees. Yeah, vicious wind. And I heard you say winter, and that's honestly true because yeah, it does feel like the winner sometimes. It was great though. The sun was kind of peaked out at the towards the end of the uh the night, and so that's good. That's good.

SPEAKER_06

And we've got a little bit lighter of a boys' roster this year. We have well over 50 students participating in track, boys and girls combined, but I believe our boys' team is is below 20. Uh, and there was a JV and varsity division. The boys finished middle of the pack amongst the eight teams that competed at that winter invitational Silver Lake. Really solid teams, yes. Some very athletic squads there. Santa Fe Trail, Burlington, Silver Lake, Rock Creek, uh, a lot of good competition. Ulpi, I believe Ulpi was also up and in attendance. Um JV Girls. So track performance last Thursday, highlighted by the JV Girls uh winning the JV Girls division, and the varsity girls, I believe, coming in third, maybe fourth place there out of those eight teams. Um we also had something going on over at Sabatha last Thursday.

SPEAKER_05

Jay, fill us in. League forensics, the big East League uh championships. Um, and guess what, Mr. Williams? I'm gonna guess we won it again. Another dub. Another one, another dub, you know it. Another one. Uh with your boy actually getting first in poetry and then first in IDA with the lovely Olivia. You're so humble.

SPEAKER_06

You're so humble, King Boogie. You're so humble. Yes, it was another banner day, I believe. Liam Felder was the champion and humorous solo. Him along with Luke Ganstrom and Duet, I think we're also victorious, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe. Okay. Couldn't tell you. Come on, man. You're the you're the tip of the spear when it comes. You and live, you're the tip of the spear, right? You're the top of the mountain when it comes to Thunder Forensics. You gotta have all of this in the back of your mind here. Right. Okay. I believe we have uh an informative speaking champion and Cadence Bussing.

SPEAKER_05

Yes. Yes? Yes.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, do we got any others? I think Catherine Younghans and Impromptu.

SPEAKER_05

I would say so. Okay. I would say so.

SPEAKER_06

We had several individual champions, but most notably, Thunder Forensics was able to bring home for a second consecutive year the Big East League Championship, and that is most deserved of. A ravenous round of applause from our studio audience. Jay is frantically looking up the individual results right now, as we speak. Might have to circle back to those. But again, another stellar showing for the Thunder Forensics team this past Thursday. Obert's about the at the Big East League Championships, and we are just sprinting to what should be a really, really strong showing at the State Meet in early May down in Wichita. Excited for that. Very excited for that. Hey, did you get your ham on this Easter Sunday? Because I did.

SPEAKER_05

Ooh, I don't I don't eat ham. I don't need ham for Easter.

SPEAKER_06

No. Get out of here.

SPEAKER_05

Well, we dine on. I think we had pizza. Oh. We had pizza that day. Yeah, nice. It was relaxed. It was super relaxed. We had a relaxed Easter as well. Let me preface that. It was super relaxed, just me and my mom. There's been times when we go out to dinner, you know, Mexican, something like that. Yeah, well, I think we had Casey's pizza. I think we really did. And it was it was fantastic.

SPEAKER_06

Well, a happy belated Easter to all of our listeners. Um I know we saw several of them around town, at mass, at church service, whatever it may be. Uh, but a happy belated Easter to everyone. And I and I think it was, especially with that prolonged break because of the in-service on that Wednesday, um, and then ultimately floating. Typically, it's that Monday after Easter that we give everybody off uh from school, but we floated that to that Thursday, so we weren't taking a Wednesday off, coming back Thursday, taking Friday off, taking Monday off. So that prolonged Easter break, I do believe it kind of made that weekend just a little bit more low-key.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

In terms of uh everybody being able to focus on uh the reason for the season if you wouldn't.

SPEAKER_07

Yes, yes, yes, yes.

SPEAKER_06

Uh flashing forward to hey, we're finally back to this week, right? Finally, we're finally back to the weeds in the world of all things e-ball Monday, April 6th. Uh, we had a little varsity in JV baseball action, a couple of single contests for each of those levels. Uh the Thunder Boys traveled over to Marysville to failed Housenfield. The JV was able to escape with a three to two victory. However, the varsity was not as lucky. Falling to the Bulldogs 9-3. I talked to uh um Thunder senior baseball standout Camden Schmitz. Yeah, and um talked my ear off. Oh, yeah, he did.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, I guess I bet he had a lot of time.

SPEAKER_06

I said came out, it happened. Yeah, pretty good. Yeah. I said I go, I was falling on game changer, wasn't able to make it over on Monday night, but I was falling on game changer. And it seemed like, again, runners in scoring position, guys on the bases. Uh, but Cam filled me in. He said, basically, just directly at him. You know, hard hit balls, good contact at the plate, uh, good plate appearances. Um, probably had some mishaps in the field, maybe walked a couple of extra guys that we shouldn't have, but uh probably could have been a high scoring affair between the two teams, but um just could not get any balls hit uh into the gaps, anything through the infield, uh just really directly at the defense of Marysville and credit Marysville, who's off to a pretty solid start themselves on uh being able to hold us off and get that nine to three victory. That brings us to uh Tuesday, April 7th. The Thunder Golf season debuted. Yes, it did.

SPEAKER_04

Thunder Golf got underway, baby. In a big swing, let me tell you.

SPEAKER_05

Really huge swing. Go ahead and fill us in then. Yes. Uh so the varsity team finished uh uh they actually tied for seventh at a very, very, very competitive Wamigo individual.

SPEAKER_06

When we say that let me let me bring it up because I know we bragged about all of the meets our girls attended in the fall and just how competitive they were. Uh Wamigo knows slouch and golf themselves, multiple uh state champion individual performers also at the team level top three finishes in class four A. Uh so yeah, their field, yeah, you're talking about the who's who of class four A and below. Okay, we're talking about teams that routinely place in the top three at the state meet. Uh Sabetha is again somebody that contends uh for state championships in class three. I believe they finished sixth, just slightly ahead of us, sixth or fifth. Yeah, so some really good teams over there. How did we fare individually, Jake?

SPEAKER_05

Yes, so individually uh uh highlighted by Leighton Thomas uh coming in at 18th place, um, and then Brady Cook uh placing 23rd. And then here's where the big swing comes. Our JV boys were in action. JV Boys dominated the St. Mary's JV invitational field at Western Hills with Gus and Ben. What'd they place? First. First place, baby. It was a scramble for the JV, by the way. Two-minute scramble. Two-minute scramble, and then Camden and Isaac uh took second, while Luke and Ion finished third. So one, two, three.

SPEAKER_06

I think we call that a clean sweep. That's a clean sweep. That's a clean, clean sweep. So congrats to uh the Thunder golfers on a stellar start to the season. Yeah. Uh and we will have more to come on them when it uh we get to the will be in the world of all things, Dima Hall, here later on in our podcast. Uh Thunder Track. Thunder uh return to action. So a little bit of action Thursday uh the second down at Silver Lake, then boom, Tuesday the seventh, we're back at it. And we were where, Jay? Here, here, right here, here at home here at home at Thunder Track and Stadium. Uh a big shout out to all of our uh parents and community members that volunteered their time to help run off the meet. And also a lot of our Thunder staffers. We've got a lot of staff members here at NCHS that do a great job uh aiding and assisting in the facilitation of our track meet. So awesome, awesome stuff there. It was the Big East pre-league meet. So we kind of split the league in half. We hosted a total of six schools, uh, five schools uh were down at St. Mary's. Uh Hiawatha Jefferson West, Perry Lecompton, Rossville, and Sabetha were the Big East teams that joined us here. Uh a lot of stellar individual performances. You can find those online. Uh go to the announcements doc, click on track results, uh, and you can dig through all of the individual results right there. But uh definitely highlighted by the girls placing third overall. All right. Sorry, the boys placing third overall and the girls winning the Biggie's pre-league meet. My bad there. You're good. My bad. You're good.

SPEAKER_05

It's been a while. It's been a while. It's been a while, right?

SPEAKER_06

We've got to get back into flow here. Get back in the flow. Uh, but tip of the captor to our Biggie's pre-league meet participants and their efforts this past.

SPEAKER_05

And a relatively in a relatively fast meet, too. Like, like you said, with the with the help from uh the everybody, the community meet community members. Um getting back in the flow. But man, I feel like we got done with that meet about shoot, I was home at like eight o'clock.

SPEAKER_06

It was dusk. Didn't even need to turn the stadium lights on. Yeah. Didn't even need to turn the stadium lights on.

SPEAKER_05

That flew by. So that was just a great job. Props to everybody. Um props to the track team. And yeah. Go thunder.

SPEAKER_06

That brings us to the end of the was in the world of all things, Nima Hall, for this week's edition of the ATN. Jay and I are gonna take a quick break and we'll be back after this with a little bit of what's on the horizon here in our greater Nima Hall community.

SPEAKER_04

Big stuff. Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Hello, Thunder Family. It's Naya Holthouse and Lena McKinley from the Radar, and we are here to remind you to get on SmugMug to check out all of the exciting pictures we have uploaded.

SPEAKER_00

And if you have not yet, please go order a yearbook at yearbookordercenter.com. The code is 17283. We have been working super hard as a staff making RDS come to life and are excited for all of you to see them.

SPEAKER_01

Have a great rest of the year from the NCHS radar.

SPEAKER_05

Talking now as we move through the week, the will be all in the world of all things.

SPEAKER_06

What's coming up? What's on deck? What's on tap? What's going on? What's on the menu here? It's on the menu here in the greater Nimaha community. Well, let's dive into what's on deck for the rest of the day today. Thunder Forensics has already departed as we record this Thursday morningslash afternoon. They have a 3:30 p.m. start time down at Wamigo, the Wamigo sweepstakes. So looking forward to seeing how well our team does. A bit of a, I don't want to say skeleton crew, but with some other activities and engagements taking place uh today. Uh not uh the uh typical full force. Squad is full full force. Not full, yeah, not a full power, if you will. Okay, not a full power, if you will. Uh we also have a little bit of uh varsity softball down south, heading to Centralia to take on the Lady Panthers and some varsity softball action. That is set to start at 4 30 p.m. And I believe the SPPS Tracksters are in action down at Frankfurt. Not 100% sure. I do know that the NCMS Tracksters, they were slated to go over and compete at Sebetta today. That meet has been postponed to next Monday. Yeah, unfortunately. Yeah. I kind of looked at the forecast and thought we might get one raindrop. Let's keep those middle schoolers at home. I don't know if you can catch my disappointment.

SPEAKER_05

Kind of. Kind of. Kind of, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

She's going to make that call at the end of the day. Well, well, they're not hosting. If we were if we were hosting, we would make that call. Right. You would make that call. Mrs. Williams would make that call. Yeah, they were going over to Sebetta. I think ultimately uh the chances of rain do increase as the night progresses, and they're worried about, you know, getting halfway to three quarters of the way done, and then having, you know, a few hundred middle school kids running around looking to get on the buses and get home. So uh that is relocating to uh Monday, Monday afternoon over at Sabetha. Um tomorrow. What do we got on the docket King Boogie?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, so Friday, uh JV Golf travels to Sabetha for a 3 p.m. start. Always a nice course there in Sabetha. JV Golf, let's get after it.

SPEAKER_06

Very nice nine-hole course. Very nice.

SPEAKER_05

Very nice nine hole course there. Whoa. Uh but yeah, JV Golf getting back after it after the uh just dominant wins. Hope to continue that there. Uh JV Baseball also uh will play Hayden, just a single game starting at 3 p.m.

SPEAKER_06

Down into Pika.

SPEAKER_05

Down into Pika. Down into Pika. And then varsity baseball at home versus Hayden Wildcats starting at 4 30 p.m. And that is a double header. Looking forward to that.

SPEAKER_06

Bringing in the Wildcats of Hayden, very, very, very formidable. Probably one of the better baseball teams in the entire state of Kansas. So looking forward to seeing how we stack up against some top-tier talent in competition there against Hayden tomorrow here at home. And um keep your eyes on the social media, the alerts from our NC Thunder app. Again, weather tonight and then to tomorrow morning, just really depending on how much rain we get. All right, but there is a chance there could be some uh alterations uh to that varsity baseball game, uh, all as well as a JV, JV baseball game. Uh Saturday, forensics travels to Hiawata. I don't know how many people are going to that. Another skeleton crew again. Yeah, another skeleton crew a little 8 a.m. start time, and I believe there's a reason for that because on the horizon, one of my favorite seasons of the year. I say that tongue in cheek because I am not a fan. I'm not a fan of what's happening Saturday evening. Oh my gosh. But it's deeply embedded tradition, right? It's one of those things where if you sit around and go, hey, why do we still do this? Because we always have. Because we always have. Exactly.

SPEAKER_05

Hey, just like uh the great um Mr. Mayberry, old Mayberry, he said, Um, you know, prom is uh I just said it, but prom is like skin's crawling.

SPEAKER_06

My skin's crawling.

SPEAKER_05

Prom is like the mailman. It doesn't matter if it's rain or shine, right? Whatever's going on outside, it will still be delivered, it will still happen. Oh it's guaranteed. It's guaranteed, boy said.

SPEAKER_06

Prom is on the horizon. Prom season is officially here, and it is taking place at NCHS Saturday. And Jay, I believe you sat down with an Ella Herder, Maggie Jones, and Grace Hamas to talk about the impending prom season this Saturday afternoon, evening, and early morning. And we will pass it off to that interview right now.

SPEAKER_05

Welcome back, ATN listeners, to the All Things Emoha podcast. With this portion of the interviews, hey, big thing coming up this weekend, and I'm sitting down with a couple of ladies talking about the big thing this weekend.

SPEAKER_03

I'm here with Maggie Jones, Gray Thomas, and Ella Herter.

SPEAKER_05

And they're gonna be talking about prom. So prom the big time event here this Saturday. Um looking forward to it. Uh Maggie, kind of tell us what's the plan? What's the plan for prom? What are some of our times? Um, where we need to be.

SPEAKER_02

So, for those of you that don't know, there's pictures at the Heinens Hangar at 3, and then the dinner starts at 6. The Grand March will be on Main Street at 7, and then the dance is from 8.30 to 11. The afterprom is at the middle school gym from 11:30 to 1.30.

SPEAKER_05

It's a late night.

SPEAKER_03

And we have lots of fun things to do after prom, like bowl riding, obstacle courses, yeah, jump house, right? Or bounce house.

SPEAKER_05

That was different from last year. And last year was a I believe it was a magician? A magici no a hypnotist, wasn't it? No, that was the year before. Oh, that's right. Okay. It was a magician. Yeah, it was a magician. You're right. Yes, it was it was interesting. So I'm excited about the bull riding though. Yes. I don't know about you ladies, but it that's gonna be fun. That's gonna be really fun. Maybe it will. Yeah, so late night. Uh for everyone, you said what was the after prom?

SPEAKER_02

Was it sort of from 1130 to 130?

SPEAKER_05

1130 to 130. So yeah, we we go we go for a while. Right? We're partying all night long. Uh it's gonna be a great time. Uh, real real quick, curious, uh, what are your colored dresses?

SPEAKER_02

My dress is green. Yellow, black.

SPEAKER_05

Green, yellow, and black. Okay. What kind of yellow? What kind of yellow, like a sunshine yellow?

SPEAKER_07

Like a pastel.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, like a pastel. Okay, nice, nice, awesome. And then black's black's always classic. Yeah. Black's a classic, and then green. What kind of green?

SPEAKER_02

Like a dark green.

SPEAKER_05

Like a dark green. Okay. All right, nice. I actually, uh J Boogie has a velvet suit. Ooh. Yeah. A little midnight blue. I'm uh I'm really excited about it. Uh, but it should be a great, great prom uh season. Uh what what does the decorations look like so far? Because prepping is is now, correct?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, we started last night and we got all this ceiling up. Um it looks really good. I don't know if you guys know this, but our theme is a night in black and white. So we're kind of going classy and just black and white colors. So um yeah, and then we're gonna be there tonight and tomorrow night to get everything set up and ready for everybody to be there and have fun.

SPEAKER_05

Sweet. And then uh what why what why uh the night in black and white? What was the uh thought process on that theme?

SPEAKER_03

Um, so basically the junior class um is really poor at raising money. So we don't have a lot of money, so we kind of went for the cheap option to save a little money for our senior trip coming up.

SPEAKER_05

That's not a bad thing at all. That's not a bad thing at all. Going the cheap route there. Uh, night in black and white, looking forward to it. Excited. Thank you, ladies, uh, for coming in here. Just a quick blurb about prom. Really excited. Hope you guys are too. Um, and that does it. Yeah. Thank you guys.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, thank you.

SPEAKER_06

Hey, I am looking forward to the dinner. I'll be honest with you. Okay. I'm looking forward to the dinner. Now you did say I do. I almost despise everything about prom. Like I can be that way. Right? You know, super supportive of everything else. Love it. And you know, part of me probably does love prom too, but it's just gotta be. It's a I guess we gotta have there's gotta be something that that I have uh uh I guess an axe to grind.

SPEAKER_05

Right?

SPEAKER_06

Like I gotta a thorn in my side, slightly.

SPEAKER_05

I guess, but it's prom, man. Like, gosh, I I don't know about you, but I love dressing up. I love dressing up. And so that's one of the biggest things for me is just dressing up, showing off, and then of course, Jay Boogie, right? With the dance and the dinner, you know, it's fine. It's a great time. I think we do a great job. Who are you escorting this year? Miss Cameron McCauley from Donovan West. So shout out if you're listening, Cameron. Um, but it's gonna be a great time.

SPEAKER_06

Looking to forward to meeting Cameron. Yes, awesome. Yes, good stuff there. Um, yeah, I think uh Wrigley attended last year with Lane Mosteller not attending this year. That's absolutely okay with me. Uh we'll be going next year, of course, I assume, as a junior, and the following year is a senior. Yep. Um, how many proms have you been to?

SPEAKER_05

I've been to four. Four?

SPEAKER_06

Well, actually, this is going to be number what here at Nemo Hall Central.

SPEAKER_05

This this is four.

SPEAKER_06

You went freshman year with U.S. courted whom? Sam Holtaus.

SPEAKER_05

Sam Holtouse, all right. Sam and sophomore was Matty Scott. Okay. And then this past year was Natalie Hamas. And you, I believe you you wrote in style. Yes, I wrote in style, baby.

SPEAKER_06

See, I don't hate prom as much as I lead on. I don't hate it as much as I lead on.

SPEAKER_05

It's not that bad. But I've been to also other proms. Uh went to Jackson Heights' prom. That was pretty fun. Okay. Um I think that was actually. Did they host their uh at their high school, at their campus, or did they have an off-site video? No, they had it at their at their at their high school. It was good.

SPEAKER_06

It's really good. Cool.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Cool. Um I uh I attended a few proms. Okay. Yeah. Uh sophomore year uh with uh uh Jill Hermish. So the Cole Renary, Cole and Cameron's aunt. Oh wow. Yeah, yeah. Okay, nice. Uh let's see here. I was freshman year. No, that was sophomore year. Okay. Sophomore year. And then uh Mrs. Williams was fortunate enough to escort me. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Or be right, right, right.

SPEAKER_06

Junior year and senior year. Okay. And she was super comfortable with that because she was actually coming back, having already graduated from uh B B high school. So she was super stoked. Now, good relationships with uh all of my classmates and my friends. You know, still some of them, you know, we hang out together to this very day. But uh uh yeah. Oh, prom. Prom prom. It's not that bad. It's not that bad. There we go. I don't know about saying it's not bad. It's not that bad. Yeah. But looking forward to seeing everybody all dolled up, dressed up. Um uh you guys and gals always look super sharp. I do like the adjustment that we had made uh moving the Grand March to Main Street. It can be weather-wise, maybe a little sketchy from time to time. For decades, the grand march took place inside the gymnasium, and we would only uh pull out the bleachers on one side, that north side. You'd walk through right around mid-court, pose, um a little bit of commentary, and then move on through uh and to the commons. Uh boy, I tell you what, like graduation, our gym gets packed early. You know, it's a 1.30 p.m. start. Um, you start seeing people show up by 12, 12.15. The old days of the Grand March taking place at the high school here in the gymnasium. Grand March might happen at 6 o'clock, 6:30, 7 o'clock. I think you had people staking things out by 4:30, 4.45. Oh my god. I'm not lying.

SPEAKER_04

It was people sitting on top of people. I can almost uh I can only imagine there.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, I loved it, Jaden. Loved it so much.

SPEAKER_05

It was awesome. Oh, I wish we had a cam to see that video.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, that was that was funny. Yeah, I was sincere. I'm as sincere as possible. But no, looking forward to again seeing everybody all dressed up, dolled up, etc. Um, love that we host the meal in-house now. Uh, that's kind of again a nice setting for everybody to just kind of get together. And it is kind of one final swan song, if you will. Uh, you know, one of those uh final moments in your high school career where everybody's together and kind of there for the same purpose. So uh looking forward to that. Uh the dance will run, uh, just to throw out some some deets here. Uh 6 p.m. is dinner. Uh 7 p.m. is the grand march. Uh we've got some cruising around the vehicles, I'm sure, uh, between dinner time and grand march and also leading up to the dinner at 6 p.m. The dance runs from 8.30 to 11 p.m. Um after prom is going to be taking place down at NCEMS. Big shout out to the Booster Club and Booster Club Phenomenal support annually of our after prom festivities. That's from 11.30 p.m. to 1.30 a.m. Uh you all should be tired by then. You need to go home. I know that might necessarily not be what takes place, but Mr. Williams is going to encourage it.

SPEAKER_05

It's a it's a long night. It's a long night.

SPEAKER_06

It's a long night. It's going to be 11:30 to 1.30 a.m. Yeah, just looking forward to hearing uh some of the uh uh stories, seeing some of the smiling faces. I do get a chaperone. I usually post up. Mr. Sism posts up in the gymnasium there by the uh um oh what do we what do we call it the weird exit outdoor cooling area?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_06

As it gets in the temperature of a uh small inferno inside the secondary gym, we do have an area where everybody can kind of go and chill. I post up in the commons because you know when it's exit, you don't get to come back in, right? So I post up in the commons and knock out some work. Yeah, yeah. Um but uh yeah, looking forward to all of that. And uh well wishes everybody have a wonderful time and also a safe, a safe, uh, safe event on Saturday night. Yep. Sunday, the FCCLA is gonna head to Wichita for their state event. It runs through Tuesday. Good luck to our FCCLA gals as Mrs. Caitlin Loman takes them down uh for their state convention. Uh Monday, we've got some varsity golf, some JV golf. Where are the golfers headed to, Jay?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, varsity golf heading over with the stroke play at Sabetha. 1 p.m. is that tea time, and then JV Golf rolls over to Hiawatha for their annual JV meet at 3 p.m.

SPEAKER_06

Varsity and JV softball along with varsity baseball will be at home here also. Little Sabbath vibe here taking on the Blue Jays. All right. So we'll have uh three contests taking place inside of Seneca. Again, the varsity softball takes place at Seneca West, first pitch 4.30, doubleheader. Varsity baseball at Swisher Field, first pitch, doubleheader, 4.30 p.m. Uh JV Softball's down at Pearson. It'll be down at Pearson, first pitch at 4 30 p.m. Uh looking forward to welcoming in our longtime rivals from the east side of the county, the Sabetha Blue Jays, Monday afternoon and that NCMS track meet. Oh yeah. They're heading over to Sabatha. There you go. Little old middle school track action in good luck, guys and gals. You junior thunder tracksters. Tuesday, the 14th, more track action. The high school gets back after it. Where, Jaden? Here. Here at home. It's the NC, I call it the small school invitational because a lot of the schools that we do invite are smaller local areas schools. Axtel, Hanover. Is D West there? D West is Cameron McColling to pull up? I can't remember. Okay. They might be coming to the dual meet in May. Oh. I put both of the form D's together earlier this week, so all that information is still swinging in my hand, and I'm not extremely sure on that. Gosh, now that you've seen that, I think they might be. Ooh. There we go. You know what I'm going to say? So just to get your hopes up. You're smiling, there's a glimmer in your eye.

SPEAKER_05

Post-prom meetup. Tuesday.

SPEAKER_06

At the track meeting. The track NC Invitational, our small school invitational, so a lot of local flavor here. Field events get underway at 4 p.m. with running events starting at 4.30, 5.30. And again, uh early shout-out and big thanks to all of our volunteer and staff help uh that afternoon and evening to make our meet run smoothly. JV Baseball is going to travel over to Sabetha for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch for their doubleheader there at Somerset Park. Phenomenal facility. Yes. Phenomenal facility. Full, full turf field right there. But good luck to the JV baseball team on Tuesday. And then Wednesday, Jay. Yeah, tax date. Reminder to everybody if you haven't filed them taxes yet. You have just under one week to get your state and federal income taxes secured. Thanks for reminding us. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. To end the podcast on a high note. Yeah, really good. Pay Uncle Sam, ladies and gentlemen, uh, come this Wednesday, uh the 15th. Uh, but we also have an event happening here at NC, the Thunder FFA, spearheaded by our sponsor, Mr. Matt Stahlbaumer. They are hosting a livestock judging competition here at NCHS. So looking forward to seeing how that all transpires. And I'm not 100% sure if that actually taking place here on school grounds. Kind of our I think it's up at up at the community building in our our uh yes uh 4-H facilities, all right, our county fair facilities. So good luck to everybody taking part in that. And Jaden, that brings us to a close with the will be what's on the horizon here in the world of all things, Nima Hall. Young man, I gotta say, you know, as we bring this episode to a close, I mean, we're gonna still, for our listeners, try to bring things weekly, but uh, Mr. Sism snuck in the classroom yesterday in senior workshop and kind of gave you guys a lay of the land for what it looked like in terms of the next few weeks here. Like, we don't have many of these podcasts left, man. We do not.

SPEAKER_05

You're out the door like what, May 8th? Yeah. Yeah, it's probably three or four more.

SPEAKER_06

Then I'm I'm gone. Actually, I don't think it's the eighth. Let me do the math here. The 11th. I think May 11th is your last day. Okay. We're graduating on the 17th, I believe it is.

SPEAKER_05

I'm just taking it one day at a time, so like, here we are.

SPEAKER_06

Here we are. Here we are.

SPEAKER_05

We got a few of these left. Yep, we do.

SPEAKER_06

And we'll probably have a big uh yeah, we'll cherish every single one of them. I know our listeners probably are as well. Oh, yeah. Probably gonna have to start if you listen to this uh with a little windshield time in the vehicle. Make sure you got some extra napkins from Sonic in the Glove Box or you know, maybe some facial tissues. Stuff might start getting emotional here in these final few episodes. Might get a little emotional. Might get a little emotional, but we're looking forward to finishing the year strong, though, uh, and bringing this first season of the ATN to a close with some strength. Right? Strength. With some positive vibes, some great memories.

SPEAKER_04

And a little bit of tears.

SPEAKER_05

Maybe a little bit of tears.

SPEAKER_04

A little bit of tears.

SPEAKER_05

Jay, I don't have anything else. Do you, sir? I don't have anything. Excited for prom, man. It's gonna be fun time.

SPEAKER_06

Here we go. Recap on prom coming at you next week. Smile on your face. Along with, as always, a look at the world that was, the world that is, and the world that will be all things Nemo. Thanks for joining us, ladies and gentlemen, and we'll see you back here next week.
