Welcome back, beautiful soul. My name is Nicole Mixdorf, and I’m your host. I’m an Akashic healer and intuitive guide, and today we’re going to dive into how to stay calm and balanced in the midst of a crisis happening all around us.

All it really takes is looking outside for about two seconds to feel the weight of the world pressing down on us. No matter your political views or beliefs, everyone is feeling this right now. The world feels like it’s on fire, and the heaviness and divisiveness are taking a toll on all of us.

We are constantly exposed to fear, anger, outrage, and uncertainty, and that overloads our nervous system. For many people, this is showing up as increased anxiety, trouble sleeping, depression, or a sense of shock and despair. So many people want to check out right now.

If you’re feeling this heaviness, I want you to know there is nothing wrong with you. Everyone is feeling it. You’re feeling it because you care. If you didn’t care, it wouldn’t bother you. And the reason it feels so heavy is because you have a big heart.

Empaths and sensitive people are feeling this even more strongly. I’m an empath too. I feel everything—the people in my life and the world around me. And what I want you to know is that you are not alone, and there is a way to navigate this while maintaining your sense of self, your peace, and your power.

You can still be aware of what’s happening. You can still participate in society. You can still care deeply. And you get to decide how much it impacts you. That choice is one of the greatest forms of power we have.

My intention today is to share practical tools and mindset shifts you can use to protect how you feel—because how you feel is everything.

Your Attention Is Your Greatest Currency

Everyone wants your attention. Marketers know it. Social media knows it. News outlets know it. What you give your attention to matters because we don’t just consume food—we consume everything through our senses.

What you watch, listen to, read, and engage with all affects your vibration. Your body has to digest all of it—just like food.

So start paying attention to what you’re paying attention to. Be intentional with your attention.

This doesn’t mean you have to cut everything out. Life is about balance. You can be informed and still protect your peace.

Before you open social media or the news, set an intention. Decide how much time you’re going to spend. Ask yourself what you’re inviting back in by posting or commenting.

If every time you engage you find yourself drained or upset, it might be time to dial it back. Put limits on what you expose yourself to. Clear out accounts that frustrate or drain you. You don’t need that energy right now.

I’ve intentionally curated my social media to be a place of inspiration. I don’t rely on it for news. Instead, it’s filled with uplifting content—and that was a conscious choice.

Regulating Your Nervous System

When we’re overwhelmed, our bodies go into fight-or-flight. Stress hormones rise, digestion slows, immunity drops, and sleep suffers. This response is meant to be short-term, but many of us are stuck in it chronically.

The fastest way to regulate your nervous system is through your breath.

Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose, filling your lungs completely. Slowly exhale it out.
Do that again—deep breath in, and slowly let it go.

Your breath is incredibly powerful.

You can also regulate by:

  • Going outside and breathing fresh air
  • Grounding your feet on the earth
  • Using water—washing your hands, splashing your face, or taking a shower
  • Moving your body

The world needs us awake—but it needs us regulated even more.

Shake Off What Isn’t Yours to Carry

You do not need to carry the weight of the world to care about it.

When you take in heavy energy, move it out. Literally shake it off. Shake your arms, your legs, jump, move—energy wants to move.

Afterward, lift your vibration back up. Look around you. Notice what you’re grateful for. Remind yourself of your safety in this moment.

If you’re listening to this right now, you are safe in this moment. And that matters.

Repeat it to yourself:
 I am safe right now.

Even if life feels uncertain, find the moments where you are safe and anchor into them.

Boundaries Are an Act of Love

Protect your peace. Bless and delete. Set time limits. Step away when needed.

Boundaries are not walls—they are loving structures that help you stay whole.

Be mindful of what you consume, especially before bed. Choose uplifting content. Support your nervous system so your body can rest and heal.

Final Reminder

You have more power over your lived experience than you realize. You get to decide what affects you and how deeply.

Your peace is sacred. When you protect it, you show up more fully—and the world needs your light right now.

Give yourself permission to feel good. It’s okay to be happy even when there are hard things happening in the world.

You don’t need to carry everything. Stay balanced. Stay grounded. And keep shining.
