Hello beautiful soul, welcome back. I’m your host, Nicole Mixdorf — an Akashic healer and intuitive guide. Today we’re diving into all the things we carry that were never really ours to hold.

So many of us walk through life feeling heavy. It can show up as emotional exhaustion, overwhelm, burnout, or even physical pain in the neck, shoulders, back, or stomach. Sometimes it feels like dread, anxiety, or a constant heaviness you can’t explain.

All you have to do is look at the news for a few moments to feel the collective weight of what’s happening in the world. Then you add your own challenges — relationships, finances, health concerns, career stress — and suddenly it feels like too much.

If you’re feeling that weight right now, I want you to know you’re not alone. There is nothing wrong with you. We live in a society that glorifies busyness and rarely creates space for true rest and restoration, even though self-care is foundational to feeling whole.

Many sensitive and empathetic people absorb other people’s emotions without realizing it. If someone you’re speaking with is anxious, angry, or hurting, you may start feeling those emotions as if they’re your own.

When you notice yourself feeling off emotionally, pause and ask: Where is this coming from?
Sometimes it belongs to something happening in your own life. If so, give yourself permission to fully feel it. Emotions are energy in motion — they are meant to move through us.

The problem happens when we suppress emotions instead of feeling them. That energy gets stored in the body and can eventually show up as pain or illness.

Recently, during a spirit journey in the desert, I discovered physical pain I was carrying that traced back to old experiences of humiliation, heartbreak, and shame — emotions I had laughed off instead of fully processing.

I realized those experiences were never meant to become permanent weight. They were meant to be felt, released, and let go.

When emotions arise — whether sadness, anger, or anxiety — allow yourself to feel them completely. Let them move through you. Cry if you need to. Shake your body. Breathe deeply. Release.

We also carry the judgment and expectations of others — parents, colleagues, partners, society. But what others think about you isn’t yours to carry either. You get to choose how much power you allow others to have over your emotional state.

If you’re feeling overloaded, get curious. Ask yourself: Is this mine?
