The Wholeness Series Vol 8: Powering Through Private Integrity
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Ever notice how the loudest reputations can hide the quietest cracks? We’re pulling back the curtain on what really sustains influence: private integrity. Not the highlight reel, not the applause, but the small, unseen choices that either reinforce your values or slowly erode them. If you’ve felt the drag between who you say you are and how you actually live, this conversation gives you a clear path to close that gap.
We walk through the difference between character and reputation and show why chasing recognition is an unstable foundation for any leader, parent, creator, or community builder. Drawing on historical examples and everyday life, we unpack how private disciplines compound into public trust—and how inconsistency eventually shows up no matter how strong your platform seems. You’ll learn a simple, three-step integrity check: list three unseen habits, measure them against your core values, and make one practical adjustment this week. No grand gestures, just small, repeatable actions that rebuild self-trust and credibility.
We also talk about the weight and gift of being observed. Someone is learning from your life right now, often without your knowledge. That reality reframes leadership from a title to a presence and nudges us toward social responsibility. As we tee up a deeper dive next time—moving beyond the self to contribute meaningfully—we challenge the idea that posts and protests alone create change. Lasting impact starts with consistent alignment in the places no one sees.
If you’re ready to trade image management for inner alignment and to build influence that endures, this one’s for you. Listen, share it with someone who needs a nudge toward wholeness, and leave a review to tell us the one private habit you’ll realign this week.

SPEAKER_00Welcome back to the Inspiration Station and your Everyday Edge podcasts. I'm your host, Mr. U. I'm so excited about being back here with you guys. I hope you have been enjoying our Inspiration Station wholeness series. You know, every time I get a chance to have conversations, whether it be in a coaching or counseling space, or even just areas where mentorship is being provided and given, accountability, partnerships, things like that. Everything that I hear that is a complaint or concern always seems to point right back to a need to be whole. Today I'm speaking to everybody, my friends, my family. Today I'm speaking to those that are watching and listening to our podcast, and especially this wholeness series. I'm speaking to all of you. Normally I'm sitting in front of men, coaching and counseling men, but today I'm speaking to everybody. Your hope, prayer, desire, and goal should be to be made whole. It should be the at the crux of everything that you're asking for and you're seeking in this life is to be made whole. People, despite popular belief, people who are broken and decide to live in brokenness never achieve lasting success. Because their brokenness always has a way of coming back and rising back up to the top and interfering with their goals to be successful and to be whole in life and to be happy in life. On our wholeness series for today, we're going to get into what it means to have integrity and what the foundation of public influence should look like. If you're listening and watching the show for the very first time, thank you for joining us. You can find all of our work on every listening platform, especially Apple Podcasts. You can download all of our shows from one-on-one with Mr. You, the Men's Roundtable Series Podcast, and of course this show, The Inspiration Station. Thank you for watching and listening. Of course, our YouTube channel is also available. YouTube.com at TheyCallMe Mr. You. You are definitely able to watch all of our episodes past and even up to the current ones, right there on our YouTube channel. They all have been fully uh loaded and ready to go. So please enjoy those at your leisure. But thank you for your time today. One thing that I think is really important is the idea of character and reputation. We might know a lot of people. Don't raise your hand if you know somebody. Don't throw it in the comment section on this point. Just kind of just kind of keep it to yourself. But we all know somebody who wants to have a stellar reputation, but their character suffers. They want to have status and position, but they lack integrity. They want to be known and applauded and loved and appreciated, but they don't even love themselves. Luke 16 and 10 says, faithfulness in little leads to trust in much. I believe that historical leaders, whether they're people of faith or not, their private disciplines have shaped their public legacies. If you go back and look at all of the examples of people who were in some kind of leadership situation in history, whether they be inventors, scientists, men of renown, their private life, their private disciplines always shape how they're remembered by people. Get with the program. If you're living an uneven private life, it's gonna come out in public and your legacy is gonna be tainted. You can't even turn the TV on now or go on to Facebook without seeing somebody's legacy tarnished because their private lives, the discipline didn't match up to what they were saying publicly. I believe that self-awareness is never a role that we complete. We're constantly on that road. Self-awareness is never finished. We gotta emphasize private integrity. So that's what we're gonna be talking about today. So who you are in private eventually becomes who people see in public. I'm gonna say it again for those in the back, you do not want to miss that part. Really important. The truth is that who you are in private eventually becomes who people see in public. Private habits, private thoughts, private decisions shape public influence. Can you please turn your TV set on and tell me that's not true? You see it everywhere, especially nowadays. Integrity begins in the places that people don't see. The small choices that no one even notices. They seem minuscule and mundane, they seem like they're obsolete, but they're important. If you believe that Abraham Lincoln was one of the greatest leaders in American history, you have to also acknowledge that his commitment, which was in private, to being a humble person, to being honest about relationships and his word and being honorable, it shaped the kind of leader that he became. He was consistent in his principles even when it felt like nobody really cared. If you're a leader and you're performing for recognition, I'm not pointing the finger at you, I'm just saying in general, if you're a leader who has been thinking about recognition a lot, maybe more than you should be, your plans are gonna falter because that's an uneven platform to stand on. It is also a basically the equivalent of a paper bag with a hole in it. Everything you put into it is gonna go out the bottom. It's not gonna give you the kind of lasting influence, it's not gonna build the kind of trust that I believe you want to try to build. If that makes sense. Self-awareness is not a finished product, it never is. So ask yourself what private habits, what thoughts, what patterns are undermining your integrity today? What can you do to realign those this week? This is a private integrity check. List three habits or choices that no one sees. I know that's not easy. I'm not asking you to put it onto the platforms, I'm not asking you to put it in the comment section or in the chats. Just write down three habits or choices that no one sees. This is something we've been doing on the whole next series. We have refreshing questions, but we also have practical exercises for you to walk through. List three habits or three choices that you have employed that no one can see. Now compare those with the values you hold dear. Hopefully, you have values that you hold dear. Then, after you do that, after you list the three habits or choices and you compare them with your values, then make one adjustment. Be intentional about this now. Make one adjustment that aligns your private life with your public integrity. Even if you feel like you're not a leader, please understand this. I've shared this on other shows, and I want to make sure I share it again. You're always being watched. Because as much as you may feel like you're not a leader, which I believe is a lie that we often tell ourselves, or that somebody tells us and we believe it, but somebody's always watching. You'll be surprised by who's watching you. I don't mean the stalkers in life, I mean the people who are watching your life because they could be in a in most cases, they're at a place where they are so they feel so low, they feel so down, and they see you vibrant and alive and working and moving and doing and fulfilling things, and they're like, How is that person doing this? Everybody I know looks like me. Everybody I know is just down and out and discouraged and not hopeful about the future. How is that person, how are you, walking around with your head up, smiling, laughing, enjoying your life? There's always somebody that's watching you. Always. We're gonna go ahead and get into the next episode, but I want to just remind you today that you have a responsibility, even to those that you don't know are watching. You have a responsibility to those that you do know that are watching. You have a responsibility to yourself to be publicly who you say you are privately. And I really believe that this is a longer conversation, a deeper conversation. We're gonna get more into that on the next episode. We're gonna be talking about social responsibility, kind of moving beyond yourself, so that you can contribute meaningfully to the world. I know people think, you know what, if I join this rally, join this protest, or start a blog, I can contribute to the world. And you know, I'm not saying that you can't do that, I'm just saying that's low-hanging fruit. There is something inside of you, in your DNA, that I just I define as greatness. We can get into what that really is in a more deeper level at a different time, perhaps privately if needed. But I believe there's greatness inside of everyone that's listening to this show today. There's greatness inside of you, and you have the ability and even perhaps the capacity to contribute meaningfully to the world. So we're gonna talk about maintaining integrity in your unseen life. That's what we're talking about today. But that theme is gonna be continued because it's so important. Look around you. It's not really hard to see if you don't watch TV or you don't look at the news, perhaps you're living in a cave and you just have no idea. But people, leaders are falling at a rapid pace. Judgment is coming to the church, judgment is coming to the nation, judgment is coming to the political realm, judgment is coming to households and families and communities and neighborhoods, and people who are in authority who may have misused that or mishandled the responsibility are falling. And we're looking saying, man, that's sad, or I knew that would happen. And those are all the wrong approaches to this. What we should be saying was, Wow, that could have been me. You may not think that because you may think that you evolve to the point where that's not possible, but it could have been you. There have been times where you have fallen from grace, so to speak. Integrity, especially your private integrity, has to be a non-negotiable. If you want to have influence that sustains and that lasts, integrity has to be a non-negotiable. How do you do that? I believe it's fairly simple to begin it, the process. Start with small, consistent choices, little things, little things that honor your value system. Little things. It doesn't require you to move mountains right away and change the world all in one fell swoop. We can't do that with just a social media post or a blog. We gotta move those mountains one walk at a time. So I encourage you, keep listening, stay in tune with us. Just holding serious is on and popping, and much more much more, much more for you guys to receive. So thank you for your time and your presence in this. Have a great day. I missed you. We out.
