Be honest, have you ever felt like you were trying to get in shape but nothing was working? You're going to the gym, you're eating better, but you still have to keep restarting. And somehow you still don't look or feel the way you want to. This episode is definitely for you. Hey girls, and welcome back to the CEO of me. I'm Angelica, and this podcast is dedicated to women who are learning to be in charge of their lives, their future, and all of their decisions. And we're building confidence and discipline all at the same time. Today's episode is for women who feel like they keep restarting their fitness and don't really know how to deal with it. Because I feel like there's so much information online with all these different trends, diet, there's so much that you don't even know how to decipher between what's real and what's not, or what's even good for your body. And to be real, there's not enough real, honest conversations about what it really takes to get to that level. So I brought on someone who doesn't just go to the gym for fun. Like this is not a game for her. She's a two-time NPC wellness overall winner. And for those of you who don't know what that means, she's basically beat out an entire class of people just by her fitness. So let's introduce you to Taylor. Hi, Taylor. I'm so excited you're here with me. Like when I started this podcast, I literally was like, I need to have her on my show because you don't take fitness lightly. You really know your stuff. So introduce yourself. How did you get into fitness? And we'll just start with that. All right. Let's get into it.
SPEAKER_00I'm Taylor. And I was your everyday gym goer. Now I'm an NPC athlete.
SPEAKER_02Yes. You are. That was but that from that point to the athlete. What was that journey? Like, talk about like you being your everyday fitness person. When did it start? Were you in sports as a kid? Like, what got you into fitness?
SPEAKER_00Um I I wasn't even very active as a kid in sports. I'm still not really into sports at all. Okay. Um, I did dance and things like that. I did like soft stuff. The cute sports. Soft stuff. Soft stuff. Yeah, cute sports. Um, that kind of activity. Never, not even like gymnastics or anything like that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, but growing up, and I was actually had this conversation with your sister, but of course, my sister does her hair, I do her lashes, so yeah.
SPEAKER_00No, growing up, um, I was taught to be aware of my appearance. Okay. Um, in good ways, but some kind of bad too, because growing up and becoming more aware of my body and caring about that, like in your later like teen years, um, I did kind of shift that concern towards my weight. Um I've never been overweight in my genetics, you know, I'm a smaller frame usually. Um but growing up being concerned about that, um, I started watching like kind of what I ate. And you know, oh my god, I think I'm gonna go on a diet. I don't even know what it what that meant. Right, right. Um, and then getting, you know, a little bit older, having my son, that's kind of where um it was a little bit more scary, I guess, in a way. Like weight gain is what has always been kind of a scary thing. Right. Um, but you know, when you're pregnant, you really don't have a lot of control over that. You have to grow. Right, you have to go. You you have no control over how much weight. So I think that's kind of after I had him was when I became a little bit more active um in managing it. Okay.
SPEAKER_02So and understanding weight loss and the things that it takes to get to the weight loss. Do you remember how much weight you gained as a mom?
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. Um, I don't remember how much I never really was concerned about what I weighed before. So I don't remember how much I weighed when I before I had him, but okay. When I had my son, I was after you had him, not before. It was 170, like 75. It was 175 pounds. Okay. And I'm four foot nine. Yeah, so for your body frame, that's a lot. It was so much, it was huge.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It was crazy. Yeah, no, that's that is so when you thought about fitness before you had your your baby, was it more so like how you look and how you felt? Not no not so much the number.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was more based off of like, yeah, how I felt. Yeah. Because my thing before I really understood how that even worked, the the main driver for me was like, oh, my stomach needs to be flat. Yeah. Just because that's what fit, you know. Yeah, and what society would you see on magazines and everything. Yeah. And then you remember wearing like the the low ride.
SPEAKER_02Yes, so with the thong out the side. Yeah, you had to be flat. You have to have a flat stomach and some hips for that. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So you're like, yeah. So just coming from that wearing your jeans low and everything, you're like, my stomach needs to be flat, and I need to do whatever so that is. But I had like no understanding of how that happened or how to do that. Just, oh, I need to just go on a diet. I need to eat a little like less and all that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Kale.
SPEAKER_02I need to put kale in my diet. That's all that means. That's how people lose weight, right? They eat more kale. Like, duh.
unknownEat more kale.
SPEAKER_02Eat more kale. We're your kale representatives, and we're gonna tell you to eat more kale. Um, okay, so what got you into bodybuilding? You were just a light, soft, fitness girly growing up. What made you flicker on that light to be like, I'm gonna be bodybuilding? Because bodybuilding is not for the faint of heart. It's no joke. So, what got you into that?
SPEAKER_00So, um I started learning a little bit more about lifting. Um, and it was like 2020, I was lifting in my garage. Okay. And I have, I still have a dusty ass garage. Yes, you're looking for a lot of people. I don't think about it anymore. Yeah. Um, but yeah, 2020, like there was nothing to do, you know. So I'd be in my garage, lifting, lifting, lifting. Yeah, and you know, I did build a little bit of muscle. Um fast forward. It was about it was the spring of 2023. Okay. And I was like, you know what? Like, I want more. Yeah. I wanted to go further. I like I never had abs. Yeah. And I was like, I want some I've got abs. I want abs too.
SPEAKER_02We all want abs. Abs are sexy. Abs are sexy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was a lot of fun. Yeah. Yeah. So I hired um a coach who is a he's a he's an IFBB pro, he's a pro bodybuilder.
SPEAKER_02Uh he's a it what? IFBB. IFBB, okay.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, so I I met him on Instagram, hired him, we clicked, and I started training with him. I just told him, you know, I just really want a hard body. I want abs. That's what I wanted. Yeah. And he's like, all right, Lana, let's do it. So we started training. He put me on a meal plan. Okay. Um So that was the start, the meal plan. The meal plan was really the start. Yeah. And I was actually eating um a lot less than what I thought I needed to be. When I started that meal plan, it was hard. It was hard to get more food, and I was like, wow, this is too much.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So I feel like that's one of the biggest things when I worked when I started actually taking the gym seriously, was like, you have to eat a lot.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It to see the results.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's more than what you what you think. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So yeah, started with him and then things started changing. Yeah. And um, he was just kind of like, he brought it up one day, I think, out of nowhere kind of thing. He's like, You ever think about competing? Oh. And I was like, no. I don't want to be that. I didn't really know what that entailed. Yeah. So, and you know, a lot of things that you don't know about, you're you're like afraid of him. Yeah. Absolutely. I was like, no way, you know, nope. I just give him my abs, sir. Thank you. Yeah, I just want to add. I came for the abs.
SPEAKER_02That's all I want.
SPEAKER_00So um, no, he's just kind of like, you know, he he spoke that to in existence. Yeah. Right then in the middle. Telling him no. And you know, you start meeting people in the community and in the gym and stuff, you know, you see your hey George, you know, yeah, yeah. So um there were people that asked him, too, are you gonna train her to compete? Yeah. He started telling him yeah. Yeah. And I was like, no, like, shut up, yeah, yeah, yeah. And more time went on, and I started being like, So you think I you think I could compete? Right, right. You think I can really do this? Yeah, you think I can really do this? You know, you see it started seeing it more on social media and stuff, and you're like, wow, you know, and so yeah, we we set a date, and that date is really what made it realistic. That it was really, I was like, my god, this is really gonna happen. I'm really new to this. I have a date. Yeah, where we gotta do this. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So do you think after he said that you were kind of just like, okay, like this is something I'm gonna try because I want to push myself? Or like, what was it that you were like, oh F it, why not? You know, why not do bodybuilding? Like, what was it because it doesn't matter how much someone says, like, I think you should do this, I think you should do this. It doesn't wake up anything in you until you feel it. So, what was it that made you be like, yeah, he's right.
SPEAKER_00Gosh, you know what? Getting like more deep into the prep and um my body, so you know, you you figure out your division, right? Because not every dig division is for everyone, right? So I didn't even really know too much about my division, but when I started looking into it more, it's you know, um, it's an hourglass shape. Yeah. So when I was seeing, I was like, oh, okay, like, yeah, I do, I already kind of have those thicker like legs, I have thicker you know, so okay, like and my body started becoming more of that. Yes! Yes, when I started seeing it, you know, because you do your checking photos and you're seeing your checking photos like weekly, and I'm starting to see things, and I'm like, okay, like, yeah, like I look like that.
SPEAKER_02Like, it's a high, it is a high. Once you start seeing your body transform, and you start, you like, you'll start like, I don't know, seeing yourself in the mirror, you'll start, you'll bend down, you see like a side of your body that you've never seen. You're like, oh, that's sexy. And so I see how you get that high from that, especially once you got that little taste. That's what made you go all the way, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_00You're like, this is it's working and working, so yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then you had a team, you you had team, person, a person, team, whatever that team, your um uh trainer, your trainer who was really helping you through the entire process, probably made you feel more comfortable about it too, because he had trained how many people? I'm sure he's trained a bunch of people.
SPEAKER_00He's trained a lot of people, and he's he's competed many, many times as well. So um, yeah, I mean, and that's the thing too, is like I think for me, in my experience, because I had him, we also had another um coach helping us out with some things, and then my posing coach as well. Right, it's a team, so it's a whole team. So there's a team, and then you find that you become closer to those people um because a lot of the things like you know, you're your friends aren't doing what you're doing. No, no, you know, there's some things you have to kind of let go of that you're not doing with them anymore. So you become closer to the people that you're working on this project with. Yeah, it's a whole life change, so you have to change literally everything. Yeah, so you know, it's he's also happy that things are progressing the way that he's leading them to. Yeah. So we're like, okay, like we're doing this, we're doing this, you know, what I yeah, okay, you I had you do that and it's working. So everybody's just kind of on this train together.
SPEAKER_02Yes, and that's usually how it goes. I feel like when you have multiple people that are passionate about one thing, right? You not only do you get that sense of like community and like we're in this together, but like you're all reaching for that one goal, and you can all help each other outreach that you can all help each other reach that goal, and I think it's just fascinating. That was one of my favorite things that I learned. As every time I do your lashes, I'm just like picking your brain. I'm like, so wait, what? They do this, you have it, like it's so fascinating to me. And like the whole story, I mean, that's super fascinating. That it literally just started by your trainer being like, I think you should do this, and you said, Yeah, why not? I think that's beautiful. Can you explain what the NPC wellness division is and what judges look for? Because that's your division, is wellness. Yes, yes, okay. So talk about that.
SPEAKER_00So it's actually um it's it is somewhat of a newer division. Okay, it's um become more established. Um, so what they look for, like I was saying before, is like it's an hourglass shape, but your lower body is more dominant. So your lower body's dominant, it's kind of like um a scenotaire, you know? Oh, okay. Yes, I know exactly what you mean. But I mean, you want some development in your upper body, but not too much. Right. You still want to have like um some feminine, you know, feminine features to your upper body, not too hard, right? Um, but lower body is dominant, so they're really looking for those glutes. Yeah, so you want the the the hard round glutes, um, you want your hamstrings that you want to see some separation back there, and then your quads, you want some sweeping on some some details, yes, yes, yes, yes. So that's what they're looking for.
SPEAKER_02Wow, that's so interesting. Okay, so mainly bottom half. It sounds so simple, but I know it's not, it's definitely not. So they mainly want bottom half. That's what they're looking for. Okay, interesting. So when you were training, focusing on, I don't even know how you just focus on the bottom, you know, those glutes, but what are some of the training exercises that you guys were doing to just focus on that bottom half?
SPEAKER_00Um, so we I mean you're doing everything. We have like our, you know, our split days. So there's leg day, there's glute day, there's, you know, we do upper upper body's not insane because you don't want too much.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00Um, but there's a lot of hip threats.
SPEAKER_02A lot, okay, a lot of hip threats. That makes sense. I love the hip threats. Yes, I love the hip threats.
SPEAKER_00There's a lot of lunges. There's um, gosh, I'm like, I'm gonna call my coach, what do we do? What do we do? Yeah, I know, I know all the you're just following his lot of overlay, you know, you're doing a lot of um leg extensions, yes, like gosh, he's walking lunges, yes, just so much. That's a lot. There's pretty much everything that you do for the legs or body. We're doing it.
SPEAKER_02So talk about the the consistency part because to compete at such a high level in any of those bodybuildings, but specifically in wellness for women, what does it take? Like as far as your schedule. I mean, I feel like it's a full-time job in my from what I see you doing. It's giving a full-time job and a ton of working out, a ton of focus on your eating. So talk about what it takes to compete, like at such a high level, having a trainer in the team.
SPEAKER_00You it it's gotta, it's gotta be a part of your life. It's gotta be a part of your life. You cannot like, oh, this is just what I do on, you know, this day or this day. It's gotta, it's gotta be implemented into your life. It has to be. Because I mean, your food and everything and your um schedule to I mean, because you still have to live life. And yeah, you know, you have kids or whatever that's gotta, you know, you've got the family. Yeah, you really have to to really fit it in. Yeah. It has to you have to figure it out. Everybody's way of doing that looks differently. Yes, absolutely. Um but that's really the main thing is that you have to understand, like, it it needs to be a part of your life.
SPEAKER_02How many days a week do you work out? Like, give us the rundown, give us the day-to-day. Like, and I know there's different seasons, right? Some days you're on a calorie, whatever, deficient. I don't know. Different phases. Different phases. Okay, let's talk about the phase that you're in now. Let's talk about how much you work out and like what you're eating. Let's talk about that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so right now we're in what's called a growth phase. Okay. Um, basically, we're bulking. Bulking growth. We're working on putting more muscle tissue onto my body. So we're working on that. Um, right now, food is up. Oh, exciting. So, yeah, it is exciting. I know, I know, I know.
SPEAKER_02When I see some of your pulls, some of the things you're eating, I'm like, wow, that looks gross, but it doesn't matter. It's for fuel. It's it's the goal is to feed your muscles in your body. It's not about it looking good, it's not about it tasting necessarily amazing. It's literally about feeding your freaking muscles. So, yeah, so that makes sense. So you're in the growth phase. So you're eating what, how many calories a day? What does that mean?
SPEAKER_00So you know what? Um, that is why I have a coach because he's like my personal assistant for all that. Yes. He writes the plan and I follow it. Yes, I love that. Um, I don't, I don't track, and I think you know, even if I did sit down and knew all my numbers and stuff like that, it would just be something additional that I don't want to deal with and have to worry about. I want to focus on just all the consistency part and getting my my end of everything done. Yeah. Um but I'm eating a lot of a lot more carbs right now. Um we have our low carb days, okay. So we're not eating very many carbs that day.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00We do um moderate day where we have a little bit more, and then we do our high days where we have our most carbs in there. Okay. So but everything really is pretty much the same every day except for the carbs.
SPEAKER_02Okay. And so how often are you working out? How many hours a day do you work out? Let's talk about this schedule.
SPEAKER_00So right now it's not so bad. Okay, right now we're doing five days a week. Not bad. And then right now, um, I'm doing a little tug of war on my cardio right now.
SPEAKER_02Oh, do you love cardio or you hate it?
SPEAKER_00You know what? I love hate it.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. What do you love or hate about it?
SPEAKER_00I just I get to a point where I'm just like, I just want to get off of this, right?
SPEAKER_02I know, I know. That's how I feel about running, especially on the treadmill. I loathe it. But the stair climber, oh, love the stair climber. I love the stair climber. It is one of my favorite like workout techniques, and I think it's makes your body just look so toned and like it elongates your body. Um, I love that one. Which one do you hate? Which one do you love?
SPEAKER_00You know what? Um, so if I have to, I do stairs. Yes, that's my main one.
SPEAKER_02Um the stairs, everyone get on the stairs. Don't be afraid of the stairs. I feel like people look at that and like, oh no. I'm like, get on it. It's the one way. It's not bad. You do it, you build it up, like everything. You totally build it up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you really do. Because I remember when I first ever even used stairs. Um, gosh, I remember those days where your like lungs are burning. Lungs are burning. I was like a newbie. Yes, yes, yes, but now I remember those days. I can I'll get I can get through it. It's just being in that one spot for an hour.
SPEAKER_02For an hour, yes. It's hard. You gotta put on like a playlist, something you have to have a good playlist, you have to be really mentally strong or stressed and tired. I feel like when I'm on the stair climber and I have a lot on my mind, I can stay on there. I'll look at it like, oh, 35 minutes went by.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you zone out.
SPEAKER_02You zone out, you zone out. Yeah. So you mainly do the stairs.
SPEAKER_00That's your main Yeah, do the stairs. And sometimes I do um spin class. Oh, loves. Yeah, I was doing that a lot more before I even started any of this. Yeah, as I've I've noticed for me, at least, as I've added um more muscle tissue in my legs, yeah. I just have some days where I just can't, I just cannot pedal that damn bike. It's so tight. It's tight, it's hard, it's painful. So it is. I try because I try to support the spin teacher.
SPEAKER_02Yes, of course. We love the spin girlies.
SPEAKER_00We love Leslie. That's a whole yeah, we love Leslie.
SPEAKER_02That's a whole vibe. I love the spin classes. It's so fun.
SPEAKER_00It's a lot of fun. It does help get um get the time to move faster too.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. And you're not thinking about it because the music is out, you see everyone else like peddling, so it makes it a lot fun. Yeah, it's social. So you're doing, you said you had a tug of war with cardio right now. What do you mean? Like you are supposed to do more, or yes, I am.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so we're we're just kind of yeah, going back and forth about okay, so if you're gonna do this many, you know, this many minutes, then you need to do it this many times a week. And if you're only gonna do this many minutes, then you need to do this many times a week. So I'm just kind of trying to find my my uh my medium? Yeah, so yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You're medium, yes, you're medium.
SPEAKER_00Light bulb, yeah. Just trying to find like, okay, what what I can commit to. Yeah. I'm just kind of being I'm just being a baby, right about it.
SPEAKER_02No, I get it at the end of the day. I get it, I get it. Well, that's why you have the trainer. That's why you have a whole team of people because it doesn't matter. You they're gonna pick it up for you. They're gonna help you, they're gonna get you through it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he won't be telling me the truth.
SPEAKER_02And he tells you the truth. You need a trainer that's honest with you. That is that's real because you don't need no one to lie in you and like trying to make you feel better because then you're not gonna grow.
SPEAKER_00You're not gonna grow. And I'm really grateful that everybody that I have worked with has been very, very upfront with me. I love it.
SPEAKER_02Yes. So shout out to the team, Chesse! Yes, yes, shout out to the team. I love that. So, why do you why do you think so many women feel like they're doing everything right, but they still just cannot see the results that they want? Like, what do you think it is?
SPEAKER_00So I feel like it could be a few things, yes, but I guess the most that stick out to me and just kind of what I've um observed in other people. Um, the expectation going in, and then uh maybe they didn't have like much of a plan going in. A lot of your you know, the typical everyday gym goer, um, but they don't have a coach or a trainer. Right.
SPEAKER_02Um They're finding things online on pages or something, they're finding things online.
SPEAKER_00Yes, and that's yeah, there's a lot of uh information and there's a lot of misinformation as well.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00So I I think they just really haven't sat down and figured out what um works exactly for them as an individual. Right. And they're just doing just what they see. They just, you know, and a lot of people are just like, I just need to, I need to move, I need to eat less and move more, so I'm just gonna move. But there's a lot of things they're doing that are not really intentional, they're just moving, and right, you know, they're not necessarily um doing it in the best way that's gonna benefit them, and but they don't know that.
SPEAKER_02They don't know that, yeah, they have no idea. Yeah, and I feel like that's I can see that that's one of the biggest things, and I think thank goodness for chat. Even still, that's not accurate, but even for me, like I felt like I've had a good grip on my fitness and things that I, you know, how I want my body to look and how work what works for my body. But even recently, I've been wanting to slim down just a tad for summer. And I was talking to Chad about it, and I was like, wow, I'm not supposed to eat a banana or two a day. That's too much. I was like, I thought, but you think bananas are certain things are like good. You know, there's so certain things that you just assume, like, okay, I can eat however many of these because it doesn't matter, it's a good carb or good sugar or whatever. And that wasn't true. And I It's crazy. Even in the mornings, I was eating three turkey sausages and three um uh boiled eggs. Chat was like, that's way too much. If you're trying to cut, you need to eat less. One turkey sausage, two egg whites, and one full egg. And I'm like, whoa, I, you know, those kind of like revelations, you would never get that online. First of all, you're not gonna get that on the internet because it's specific to what I want and how I want my body to look. And I think because of the internet, it's so confusing. It's so confusing. And the people that are talking on the internet, they're not emphasizing this works for my body, but I don't know if this is gonna work for your body. Like, I wish they did that more because that's I feel like why a lot of women get lost in the sauce, because there's so much information.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's such a surface level understanding too of how your body works inside.
SPEAKER_02Surface level, yes, yes, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I had to learn a lot of things too, and I didn't, you know, you don't you think okay, I just put this in here and then but there's so much going on inside your body, and your body is so smart, it knows what it needs to do.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you're good, you're good.
SPEAKER_00It knows what saying it knows what it needs to do with what you're giving it. Right. So you can't trick it. You can't trick it. It knows exactly. So yeah, this is a lot of surface level understanding, and there's so much information, and it's almost too much information.
SPEAKER_02It's too much. I think it's I think it's way, way, way, way too much. Um, and obviously social media plays a role with advice and body perception and what your body is supposed to look like. Do you feel like on this journey that you've been in, do you feel like you've ever not compared, but do you feel like you've ever looked online and be like, okay, I don't get it. How am I not seeing results? I'm doing the same exact thing this other person is doing that's in your industry. Like, did you ever feel like any conflicting views with yourself in bodybuilding online?
SPEAKER_00Maybe in the beginning, um, because I did not know what to expect. Right. Um, I just was like, okay, like I'm gonna do this, and I hope it turns out like, you know. Right. Um, but maybe a little bit in the beginning, yes, because I was like, okay, you know, I I have this thing, I I love other short girls. Yes, that's so fun. I love that. There's a lot of uh girls in you know my height class, so I would look um kind of look at you know people who are already established in the height class, and I'd be like, okay, well, maybe it'll be like that, yeah, or whatever. But it I had to kind of understand too that some women have spent a lot longer on this than I have, and I'm I'm late to the party and kind of and very new to the game, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I guess. Yes, you are, yeah. You're very new to the game, and that but not that new because you've won.
SPEAKER_00So I don't know. Well, I'm not so misinformed anyway. Right, but exactly pretty fresh. And because there's I had to learn about like muscle maturity. I never heard of that in my life.
SPEAKER_02Talk about that. What is muscle maturity? I don't even know what it means.
SPEAKER_00Muscle maturity is somebody who has a more um mature muscle structure like they've been building so long. I mean, you build muscle and then when you're like in your off-season growth phase, right? You're adding to that. So they still have muscles from like, you know, five years ago. Yeah, fuck in 1995.
SPEAKER_02They got muscles from 95. Yeah, it's a add to tattoo. That makes sense.
SPEAKER_00So it takes time to grow, and you know, some people do advance a little faster, you know, by your genetics and that's a whole nother thing too.
SPEAKER_02The genes that makes a huge difference on how you build muscle as well and how you lose weight, too.
SPEAKER_00Exactly.
SPEAKER_02And how you gain weight and how you keep on weight, all of that.
SPEAKER_00Yes, very good weight. Yep. So yeah, I had to learn about all that stuff. And I I kind of did, you know, when I started competing too, and I saw myself next to other girls, I was like, oh they can do like that. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, I bet that really opened up your eye to being like, wow, this is not cookie cutter, this is not black and white, everyone's journey is completely different. And you guys are quote unquote somewhat doing the same thing. Obviously, you can't say they're all doing the same thing, but you guys all have one main goal to get your glutes and your hamstrings to have that little separation.
SPEAKER_00Same areas, and then some people, you know, they some of them aren't. Like some of them, they don't have to work on this part so hard because you know, they're genetically gifted, yeah, so they don't, you know, they only need to do this to that, or it's fine tweaking to things, but um, yeah, you I mean when you're backstage, especially and backstage life. Nationals was like a big like eye-opener. Right. How was it? Oh my god, it was like day camp.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god, like oh that's so fun!
SPEAKER_00I had a lot of fun. Um Nationals was last year, right? You nationals last July. Last July, okay. That show last July. Um, yeah, backstage, it's it's nationals, it's huge. It was the biggest show I ever did. And you meet girls who this is their like fifth nationals, not their fifth show, but their fifth nationals for their fifth time doing the show this alone, you know. The show they yeah, I was here last year type thing. Right, right. I'm like, oh wow, okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, these are veterans, these are veterans you're in the back backstage with, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, wow. Yeah, and they've been working at this for years. For years, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So how was that experience? Like, I feel like the camaraderie, camaraderie, whatever that word is, um, the I'll say community. I feel like the community in this, how did you feel being around all these women that have way more experience to you? Did you feel like however you feel comfortable sharing? Did you feel that there was open arms? Did you feel like it was kind of clicky? Did you feel like it was like, you know, girls were like, yeah, let me teach you this, let me show you this. Like, how was the vibe with the women in the back?
SPEAKER_00Oh man. So my first show, um, I did get a little taste of the not-so-niceness. Okay. It's everywhere. You can't avoid it. But I'm that type of person, I I'm a room reader if I'm alone. Yeah. Um, I'm okay. I'm up here in the corner and I'm, you know, where I can see everybody. Right. But um did get a little bit of that. Not no big deal. I don't really, you know, whatever. Um, second show, I had met some more people in the community. So we started, you know, you start following each other on Instagram and stuff, and then you start seeing, oh, you were at the first show, what's up? You're really starting. Yes, I love it. So yeah, that one got more like, hey girl, you know. Um, nationals too. You see a lot of the girls that are local. Yeah, there's people from all over nationals, but you see a lot of your local girls too. You're like, oh my god, you know? Yeah. Um, what's up? Um, but nationals, I actually met a couple of people too from like out of state. Wow, amazing. It was like that's like it was like summer camp. Yeah, that's so fun.
SPEAKER_02So it's like you find your people like pretty much everything in the case.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so for the most part, it's been cool. It's been everybody's been really I've been more supported than not. Okay, I love that. Yeah, I can't really say anybody's um really not made room for me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so that's incredible.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, for the most part, it's been great.
SPEAKER_02I love that. That's what you were telling me the last two years that you kind of started this process. You mentioned like how nice everyone was, and how most people like wanted to bring you in and show you these little tips and tricks of the industry because you are all, you know, you're learning everything. So I think that's great. I love seeing women not only grow together but actually be nice during the process. Like, that's incredible. I love that. Um, why do you think women fall into a cycle of starting over, starting Monday, falling off? I guess it's probably because of the plan. But like, what are some other things that you feel like? Because I know you said at the beginning that you had to make a full life change, say no to some friends, stop hanging out with certain friends. Like, what was that like for you? And do you feel like that's something that women are missing? Like they're missing that serious discipline, or you know, cutting off that person, ending that relationship. Like, what do you think it is? Gosh, so starting over every every week, the cycle of starting off, ending it, starting off, you know, what is that?
SPEAKER_00Um, I think it kind of starts with like the whole, like, are you do you really want it? Do you really want it?
SPEAKER_02And it's like, it's because you know, sometimes people can.
SPEAKER_00I think, you know, my coach sometimes he'll say little things to me just to mess with me, like just to you know. Just to get a little reaction. He's like, You gotta get mad, I'm making mad. Yeah. Um, no, because sometimes he'll because you know, I'll be like, oh, like Hardy, uh he's like, well then you don't really want it. Yeah. And it's like, yes, I do. But so that's real.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you can't do it. That's what it is.
SPEAKER_00I don't, you know, I I don't feel like you tell somebody, okay, you don't want enough. No, no, I do. Um, but maybe it's just something that they haven't really sat down with. Right, right. To see like what what is what is in the way, like what's happening? Why are you not? I mean, is it that you're just okay, every time somebody invites you out on the weekend, you gotta be there? Is it that? Like, okay, well, why? Like, why get to the core?
SPEAKER_02Why do you feel like you need to be at everything? Why can't you just say no?
SPEAKER_00So it's just those things. Like, how are you going to how are you gonna live with them? Like, how are you gonna live with those things? Like, you don't want to let go of your friends. You don't you shouldn't. You shouldn't. You don't have to. You don't have to. Um, but how are you gonna still have them in your life and still do this and I guess balance it?
SPEAKER_02Balance it, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, I just think they need to sit down with whatever's causing that to happen every week. Right. Like whatever that is, because there's so many different things. I guess that's a good thing. There's so many different things. No, I agree.
SPEAKER_02There's so many different things that um cause it to fall off.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. So you just gotta figure out what that is and how you are going to manage it. How you're gonna still execute what you say you want.
SPEAKER_02Right, right. Yeah. And like, do you believe I don't feel that there is a balance necessarily. I don't believe in that. I I thought that I did, and then I realized that things just fell to the wayside because I was so much trying to balance having a life and being focused and running a business and going to the gym. Yeah, I realized that everything is out of balance. There, there's some things are gonna require way more energy than others. So, do you feel like someone who's starting off, do you think they should just get balance out of their head? Like stop trying to find this balance.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because things come up. Yeah, yeah. Things come up. So, yeah, I've heard that too. A lot of people, a lot of people are letting that go. Yes, a lot of people are letting go of saying that uh balance is a thing because it isn't. It isn't a thing. Things happen, things happen, and you gotta just you gotta be able to pivot. I think it's a better thing.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Um and I think trying to stay balanced with friends, social life, to me, that's always gonna fall on the wayside. Like, I love my friends, I can hang out with them, but necessarily going out every weekend and doing all the things, like that balance that makes the balance teeter-totter. I feel like if you do more of that, the good stuff that you should be doing, the working out, eating right, waking up early, that's gonna fall to the wayside. So, like that's what's I think that's what's the hardest part about balance is like picking the right side. And I think that's what a lot of women and people in general, that's why they fall off because they pick the wrong side of the balance to stay balanced, you know. Like they're trying to stay balanced with their friends and going out and having a social life and all of that. And of course, if you're going out two nights out of the week, you're not waking up for the gym. You're gonna wake up even if you don't drink, you're gonna wake up feeling some type of way because your body's tired. So you're gonna eat more or less than you usually do, and that throws everything else else off. So it's like balance doesn't exist. It's just throw balance out the window.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's just kill it.
SPEAKER_02Let's kill the balance, let's kill the balance. Um, so let's talk about the mindset shift that you felt that you had um with staying consistent, because I feel like maybe that's what a lot of women are missing besides the plan. We already talked about the plan and kind of like really, really wanting it. Talk about this the mindset part of that shift of being like, okay, I know I want this, yeah, but like how am I gonna actually execute this with kids, a husband, a life. Like what how do you what's the mindset shift?
SPEAKER_00Gosh. Um I think that just kind of develops with it, but you you gotta be realistic for one.
SPEAKER_02Don't set crazy goals. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Be realistic.
SPEAKER_00You really have to um to be realistic about like okay, today is this day, and this is what I usually do on this day, so when am I gonna do this? Um that's that's one thing. You just really gotta be super realistic about how you're gonna execute everything in your day. Yeah. Um yeah. I don't I yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I get that.
SPEAKER_02I think being realistic is that's the biggest thing because I think a lot of people they set these insane goals, they haven't worked out in four or five years. They're like, I'm gonna work out six days a week. And you're like, come on now. That's aggressive.
SPEAKER_00I mean, if you gotta physically put it in front of you to see like how you're gonna do this, yeah. Like you gotta live on a role, like another role that's what a planner. A planner, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You gotta live on a planner.
SPEAKER_00If you gotta live off of that and that's what's gonna work, then yeah. Yep. But yeah, you gotta be be realistic.
SPEAKER_02You gotta be realistic and take yourself seriously. I feel like that's the biggest part. Like, I know we're I'm not trying to be hardcore and be like, like, you either want it or you don't, but that's what it is. Like, it is, it is that's what it is. Either you really want it or you don't. And like you see your body every single day. You take your body with you everywhere you go, you lay in bed with your body every single day, you see it in the mirror, you see it in the shower. And if there are things that you are unhappy about to the point that you are covering it up, or you're like, no, babe, turn off the lights, you know, then if that's not enough, then what will be enough? You know, like and obviously there's so many issues. I I'm not gonna put a blanket statement, but there's so many issues that people face, hormonal issues, that causes making that causes losing weight, obviously a lot harder. Obviously.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's a lot of different things.
SPEAKER_02There's a lot of different factors, there's a lot of different factors, but I'm just talking in generally people who won't even make that step to taking it seriously and being committed because it's a commitment, it's a ring. It's like you gotta be married to the game to really do be serious about it. And it's like, I think a lot of people don't realize maybe they do, they have to know the health benefits. It's not so much about like seeing the abs, seeing your legs, and like being infatuated with that, it's like health internally, like you're the inside of your body actually really needs to work out, like it's not even optics as you as you progress to you do feel it.
SPEAKER_00Yes, so and that's kind of something that um nobody's gonna tell you when that's gonna happen or point it out, but right there's a certain point where you you feel it, and for me, it's like maybe the best way to describe it, you do feel powerful.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yes, you feel and oh my gosh, yes, not feel like all like you know, like out of the world and in the outer space on you. It is out of the world and out of space. That is how this that's how it feels.
SPEAKER_00Because for me, like I was just kind of thinking what you're saying. Um, for me, I'm like, this is where my soul lives. Yes, it lives in here. Yeah, it's your soul.
SPEAKER_02Our soul lives in this vessel, yeah, this beautiful vessel.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so I mean, people have all these nice things in their houses, and then you know, you do all the stuff with your house because you live inside of it, right? So, but this is where your soul lives. Like, without the house, without anything, without shelter, your soul's in here. Yes, this is what protects it.
SPEAKER_02Yes, uh, so that is so deep. No, I'm glad you said that.
SPEAKER_00But I I mean, I kind of you know, came to realization I came to more of appreciation for that too at one point. Like, wait a minute, like, I'm gonna beautiful, and that's so true.
SPEAKER_02You don't get another one. This is all you got. You have one body, and you you don't want to ruin it, and you don't want to have a harder life later in life. And I think maybe I I don't know what it is, but I think realizing, like you said, that this vessel that God gave you, or whatever higher power you believe in, whatever, like that God gave you, that He gave that to you for a reason. And if you are healthy and you can physically go to the gym every single day, like that's a blessing, and you get to do that. It should never feel like a burden. Um, of course, there's some days we don't feel like working out, obviously, but you change your mindset immediately, and you're like, you know what? This is my vessel. I'm protecting my soul, I'm making sure my body can walk and get up and do all the things that I want to do. And that's what gets me at to the gym every single day. I wake up every day and I'm like, oh, thank you, God, for getting me out of bed. I'm I can physically get myself out of bed every single day. I can go to the gym and work out three hours if I wanted to. Like, that is incredible. There are people that are literally sitting in the hospital that are wishing that they could go back to the life where they were able to walk outside, feel the fresh air, all that stuff. Like, not to be too morbid, but I feel like that is what that mindset shift that I think a lot of people need is to realize that you only have one of these vessels.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's it.
SPEAKER_00And like, whatever, you know, I mean, there are things too in in life that can um lead you to be more grateful.
SPEAKER_02I mean loss, loss, yes, things like that. So whatever it is um that leads somebody to understand, yeah, you know, is that's their journey, and I think that's the beautiful thing that I hope more women find, you know, that light bulb that goes off in their head where they're like, okay, this is not a game. And you don't want it to be a health scare, you don't want it to be a health scare to that gets you into shape. But sometimes, unfortunately, that's what it takes, but you don't want it to be that. You'd rather just do it because you want to and you enjoy the process. And I think something you said that is gonna stick with me is that power that you feel from working out and the high that you get after. And um, what is the what is that hormone that you feel after you work out? Dopamine. Oh my God. That is no other, there's no other feeling that you get. Um, there's no better feeling, I mean, that you get from after working out than that. And I think more women need to step into their power. That's what I say all the time. Step into your power, take control of your body in your life. Because I'm sure you have people that come to you, ask you for advice. Like, what do you feel is the one question that people always ask you when they're DMing you, talking to you on the street, your friends, all your circle. Like, what do you feel is the most common question?
SPEAKER_00You know, you'd be surprised. Um, a lot of people don't really care what I have to say. What? How well you left. Because everybody knows everything already. I feel that's kind of like where I'm at. I'm like, okay.
SPEAKER_02You think that they know everything about fitness.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'll have people ask me, like, one thing is um, oh, you know, I've been trying to lose my belly on and on. Yeah. So what do you like? What do I what should I do? And I tell them something I guess they didn't expect me to say. And it's really just, well, for the most part, you just gotta clean up your diet. Yeah. And then you wouldn't believe if I had a dollar. Five, five dollars. Five dollars. Let's take it up, let's take it up and on.
SPEAKER_02Let's be real.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, five dollars. Five dollars for every time somebody said this, they always say, I've already done that. Okay, then what are you asking me for? Like, yeah, literally, why are you asking me? If you've already done it, yeah, okay, you already did it, so I mean, why are you asking me? I don't know what you want to say.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the open mindness isn't there for sure. I think the open mindness is not there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. I mean, but you do have people that are are really um genuinely curious, you know, and they oh, like, why do you do that? You know, and they're like, oh wow, okay. Like, yeah, when you tell them, well, you know, yeah, wow.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's so funny. That is so funny. So let's talk about confidence with fitness and really taking the effort and the time and being consistent and being committed to doing this bodybuilding thing. Talk about your confidence and how that has changed throughout this process because I know it's gotten higher. It was already high, but I know it's gotten like you're standing at 6'11, babes. You're standing at 6'11 with that confidence, and I love it.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm I'm really grateful um for for the confidence boost. Um, yeah, I've not really been a not confident person. Yes, I am. Um but I think it was like it was like more internal for me. Um I'm not as silent as I was once before. Like I'm very um no, like get out of my way because I'm gonna do this. Like I love that. Yeah, I'm not really that person, and um, like usually it's like, oh, you know, does anybody have anything to say? And I'm like, I do have something to say, but I'm not gonna say that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yes, I know what you mean.
SPEAKER_00It gives you that confidence to say it out loud. I was gonna say that. Yes, yes. But now, yeah, no, I'm just like, oh, you know, like I love that. So yeah, I'm not um I'm not afraid to shine. Like, I'm just like, you know what? Like, and I'm I don't, I don't care. I'm gonna, I'm here, you're here, and I'm here too. Yeah, we're all here together.
SPEAKER_02I love that. I can see, I feel like working out definitely strokes that confidence and it shows you because you're like in the gym lifting, I don't know, 150 pounds, whatever, and you're like, okay, if I can do this, then no one's gonna mess with me out in the real world, you know, outside of this gym, outside of this uh locker room, whatever. You know, they're not gonna mess with you because I just lifted 150 pounds. Like I just lifted a whole person.
SPEAKER_00It's like I think too, because like I was saying the beginning of this was wanting more. Yes, yes. Um, and I kind of feel like Like I opened this door. Like, I was like, damn, I you know, I know there's this door right here that I've had here my whole life, but I've never opened it. Yes. And then I opened it and I'm like, oh my god, like all this is in here. All that. So yeah, I kind of opened like another door to myself that I didn't know had all this stuff in here. Like, I have all this shit in here. I didn't even know that.
SPEAKER_02Yes, it opened up a door, and like you were probably like knocking on the door and not knowing that it just needed to be open, you know, like internally. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love that. I can see what you mean that like there is this part of you that you didn't even know maybe it was in there, and you open it up and you're like, wow, I can do all this. And I really feel like I know people could be looking at this and be like, it's not that deep, but the gym really is it's that deep. It really does open up this portal inside of you that you're just like, whoa, you see the world differently, you see people differently. Yes, oh my god, you see. So you said wait, what'd you say?
SPEAKER_00Eric Abadu.
SPEAKER_02Eric Abadu. Oh my god, yeah. I said yes. I didn't even know what you said, but yes, Erica Badu. That is literally how I feel. Like it opens up a portal and you see everything differently. Your friends, your life, the way you spend your time, the way you eat, the way you go out. Like everything changes once you commit. I'm not talking about the lax of daisy, that kind of gym person. Which there's nothing wrong with that. I'm not talking about that gym person. I'm talking about the people that cum it. The people that commit to the gym four to five days a week. They change their eating habits, it's penciled into their schedule, like it's a shower, it's like a part of their day. And I think that's what a lot of people miss is that it's not in their schedule. Like you said, it's not in their plan, it's not in their schedule. Have it in your calendar. Years ago, when I started, when I was like, okay, I'm actually gonna take this gym seriously, seriously. Like I was a laxi daisy gym girl. Although I was raised like playing sports. I like in my adult life, I would go to the gym two or three days out of the week here and there. Like it was nothing crazy. But like four or five years ago, I made it very serious. I'm like, this is I might as well get used to it. We're gonna have to work out for the rest of our lives. Like, there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
SPEAKER_00It is a part of your life, it's a part of your life.
SPEAKER_02Like, you can't just fall on and off, and like you gotta stay consistent. And so, anyways, um, I started putting it in my schedule, just like my alarm. My six aim alarm said it's gym day, like get up for the gym, and that really helped me not only be intentional about going to the gym, but it showed me that I was putting in the effort to do it. And I think a lot of times your body just needs to move, you just gotta do it. Like, overthinking. There's so much overthinking with the gym and like feeling like it needs to be this whole routine and be for be there for an hour and like all this stuff. And it's like, don't overthink it. Like, what is that with us? And I think maybe it's just like the pressure, like you the social media pressure that you're not really seeing what someone's going through to get to that point. Uh-huh. You're seeing a one two-minute clip, and it gives you this facade that it needs to be this grandular. You see, girls, and I love the vlogs, the gym vlogs. I don't get me wrong, I love the girls doing their full face of makeup before the gym and like doing the whole thing. Like, yes, I love it. I love the content, and it's cute, and it's like it keeps you going. But you see the cute side. You're not seeing the whole gym routine. You're seeing maybe one or two reps. You know what I'm saying? And it's like, right. I think that that's what's the biggest thing missing, you know? The other side of the dark side of bodybuilding.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you gotta go, like, you gotta go in there and like really do it and get the real of it. Yeah. Um, yeah, because yes, I mean socials, but you aren't seeing the real, and there's a lot of people on there who are not real at all.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, a hundred percent.
SPEAKER_00And it's it's unfortunate, but yeah, they're there, they're they're there, they're showing you, yeah, like I like this is what I ate today or whatever. And okay, but uh the whole other you know, days in the week they don't eat like that.
SPEAKER_02Yes, exactly. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00It doesn't it's not something you can either either even hide either. No, you can't. Yeah, that's but it's just it's all an aesthetic thing, it's all like it's all for attention and yes, so I love that. You can get caught up in that. People get caught up in that too, and when you're not um very informed about it anyways, and you're looking, yeah, how would you know? Yeah, how would you know? How would you know?
SPEAKER_02So yeah, that's so interesting. And I think that that's something you can't hide, is a strong body. Like it doesn't matter what you show on the internet, whatever, like when they see you in person, you will see that, like, oh, okay, I can tell you work out, I can tell you you you do whatever you're supposed to do. Yeah, and I think that's the same with obviously bodybuilders' bodies. There's no hiding that you are disciplined, you're confident, and that you are committed to this, and I think that that is a beautiful thing for women to show other women that they can do it too. It doesn't have to be bodybuilding, but they can work out too and like reach that goal that they want to reach, especially as women. I feel like we need to see that in each other, you know?
SPEAKER_00Absolutely, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, okay, so what's one thing, what's one thing that uh women should stop doing immediately trying to get fit. Okay, stop doing immediately immediately when trying to get fit.
SPEAKER_00Um let's just say following what they're saying. Um I could just bring it right back to that. Yes, yeah, don't do what your friend is doing, don't do what the girl on your socials is doing. Um because it's not just one size fits all what she's doing, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. Um yeah, so that stop setting your journey based on what others are doing. So stop that.
SPEAKER_02Yes, I love that. Stop that immediately. Do you listen to the girl? Stop it immediately. Stop doing what everyone is doing.
SPEAKER_00I feel like you're gonna end up wasting time if you're doing something that is good, just like we said, is good for that person, you're following this, or maybe this person has no idea what they're doing. Right. Um, and you don't either, so you're following them, but you're gonna waste a lot of time. A lot of time all that instead of you know knowing exactly what you need as an individual.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So do you suggest getting a trainer? Like, what is that for someone who like what's the what's the trick?
SPEAKER_00I probably have gone off, like I probably recorded a video in my car about this. Oh, I love it. No, I do. I highly believe in having a trainer. Um, especially if you don't know what you're doing. Um you see so many people who don't know what they're doing and they want to appear that they do.
SPEAKER_02A hundred percent.
SPEAKER_00And they're recording all these videos, and even me, based off of what I've been taught and what I know now, I'm watching like what is that? Like, what do you think? Yeah, what do you mean? Yeah, and there are some workouts that that look silly that are effective, but sometimes you're just like, no, like you're not, no, you're recording this for online or whatever. Right. Um, but yes, I highly believe in having a trainer. It's even if you do it for one month, I've said, yes, even if you do it for one month to get yourself rolling so you know what the way that you need to eat and um the way that you need to train. Sometimes taller, shorter people need to do things differently.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00Um I am a hundred percent behind that.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I love that. Get the trainer, get a trainer.
SPEAKER_00And what is the number one thing usually people say? It's like, oh, a lot of people say they don't need one because it's expensive. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Um, but so is being unhealthy. So is that being unhealthy is extremely unhealthy. Yes, it's being unhealthy is extremely expensive.
SPEAKER_00So but what I always say is your nails cost you how much? Oh, how many times a month do you get your nails done? Yep. Um, your hair, it costs you how much? Your lashes cost you how much? All these services that you're paying, they cost you how much? You can't do that, you can't go without that for like one month and then pay that trainer. Right. You know what I'm saying? What do you put it in a ponytail? Yeah, put it in a ponytail.
SPEAKER_02It's it's exactly you're putting all this money and effort into your optics, but what about what's inside? Like, you're not putting all that same effort and money on the inside, and that's a huge discrepancy. Yeah, one month.
SPEAKER_00I mean, if you're paying attention, you're gonna learn everything that you need to do.
SPEAKER_02That's so true.
SPEAKER_00And to get your guns.
SPEAKER_02That's so true. That's so true. And I feel like maybe a lot of people have been discouraged, not by trainers, but they've had a bad trainer. It's like a therapist, you gotta find the right one that works for you, okay? It's the same with trainers, you gotta find the right one. Like you may go through a couple of trainers, but just don't give up. You just gotta keep going because the trainer will get you in tip-top shape. And like you said, all you need is one month if you listen and pay attention. That one month, and that's what helped me. Getting a trainer was the best money I ever spent. It was the best money I ever spent. And like she said, like just allocate your money. You're already spending money on all the other services. You can take some money away from your nails, maybe, or take some from your whatever it is, put that much energy into your body, not your hair and your nails. Like, I mean, do that too. Do that too. I'm not saying that's crazy. I said a month. We said a month.
SPEAKER_00I'm just saying, one month. You can pull back. Don't say that you can't you can't afford a trainer. If if you if you need if you feel that you need one, some people that don't need one. But if you do feel you need one, don't make an excuse and say it's too expensive.
SPEAKER_02I agree. Yeah, don't make an excuse. It's an investment into yourself, it is an investment into your one body that you get. We're gonna reiterate that. You get one. One, that's it. Okay, Taylor. Let's talk about um, these are our last final questions. Let's talk about what's coming up next for Taylor and the wellness and competing. What's on the horizon?
SPEAKER_00So there are there are some plans.
SPEAKER_02Ooh, yes. I know you're not gonna talk about it, but talk about as much as you can.
SPEAKER_00No, uh, we're we're working right now, we're actively working, and we have um an entire plan laid out. It's great. Awesome. Um, we are gonna be a little silent about that.
SPEAKER_02I love that. Keep it keep it hush, keep it. No, I love that.
SPEAKER_00I love that. Yeah, I don't know, but you guys will know. There will be signs.
SPEAKER_02There will be signs. Yes, I love it. There will be signs.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we're um right now where I'm at is focusing on what I'm doing right now. Right. Um, there is a date in sight. Okay, good. Um, worried about that, right? Yeah, we're not worried about that.
SPEAKER_02No, so we're on the growth. We're on the growth. Okay, I love that. Okay, what is um the last, like, what do you feel is your favorite meal as you've been doing bodybuilding? And what is your least favorite that you have to eat? And your your trainer's like, I don't care what you say, you need to eat this tilapia. I don't know. That's gross. But what is your favorite and what is your absolute worst? Like, or yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, right now, like everything I I eat everything, not everything, everything in my meal pan right now are things that I like to eat.
SPEAKER_02Okay, talk about what it is, because I don't think a lot of people understand like what it takes to build muscle. Obviously, it's not the same thing.
SPEAKER_00Four meals, four meals a day. Four meals a day, okay. I'm eating like three to three, every three hours, four hours, pushing it. Um four meals a day. So, like I said, there are days where I don't have as many carbs.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00So those are my least favorite days.
SPEAKER_02So, like, what are you eating like for breakfast? Like, is it egg whites? Like, give me through a run through a whole day for someone watching. They can be like, even though it may not be the same, but someone watching be like, oh, okay, I can at least pick and pull from it.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so low carb day.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00I hate low carbs. I know. So do I.
SPEAKER_02I hate low carbs too. I love me some carbs.
SPEAKER_00So low carb day, I have egg whites. I have one cup of egg whites and one whole egg.
SPEAKER_02Okay. For breakfast. That's it. Scrambled. No salt, no pepper.
SPEAKER_00On a day that I would have carbs, I'd have some oatmeal with that. I don't get to have my oatmeal.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so you're just doing eggs, no salt and pepper. Or seasoning. Can you season? Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_00You do want to put some, you want to have some some sodium. Okay. Um, so yeah, I do. Okay. Um, and sometimes okay, you guys, don't laugh.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna don't laugh. Don't laugh at her, okay?
SPEAKER_00I put a little bit of sugar-free um pancake syrup on my eggs. Oh, that's good. That sounds good.
SPEAKER_02I love to make it different. That sounds good. I like I like syrup with my eggs. So when I eat like pancakes and stuff, I love when it runs a little bit over into the eggs.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, isn't it like just that golden, yeah? Yeah, yeah. So that's breakfast um on a typical low day. Okay. Um then what's after that? My next meal, I have um some carbs, and then I have some lean um lean beef.
SPEAKER_02Okay, carbs, like you're not eating bread, obviously.
SPEAKER_00No, so my carb source, I have so that's basically I have carb sources. Okay. But my carb source is um sweet potato. Oh, I love sweet potatoes. And then I do have some veggies, okay. Um, greens. Okay. Sometimes it's green beans, sometimes it's vintage.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Kale. Kale.
SPEAKER_02We said it. We love the kale girls.
unknownCooked kale.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, cooked kale. Oh, yeah. And then um next meal will be poultry, chicken. Sometimes it'll be turkey. Okay. Um, and that is no carbs in that meal. Okay.
SPEAKER_02That's just meal three.
SPEAKER_00And then meal four is um more lean beef. Okay. With some greens. Sometimes I'll do like um leafy salad. Uh sometimes it's just like salad with no dressing on the side.
SPEAKER_02Kale. Kale. No. Kale.
SPEAKER_00Freaking kale. So right now, um, I do do a little bit of dressing, but I do a lot of I do a lot of sugar-free stuff. Okay. And I know people say what they want to say about that, but I do a lot of sugar-free, just low, you know, just low on everything.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Low on taste. Low, literally low on taste. One of the things that chat told me to do, besides eating half a banana, is to dip my salad dressing. Like, dip, like, if I'm gonna get a salad, don't pour it all over. Just dip it. Like, I got this um shrimp Caesar salad the other day, and do not pour it all over, just dip it per bite and only eat one cup. Like, and don't dunk it, just dip it. And I was like, that gives you better control of the dressing, and you're not drenching your dressing in drenching, drenching your dressing, you're not drenching your salad in all this dressing, and I think a lot of people don't realize how bad some of the dressing is, like the ranch of the world. Add like a whole 250 calories, a whole yes, a whole 250 calories just to the salad. So, ladies, chill on the dressing. I know you're eating a salad, you're like, oh, I'm eating a salad, this is gonna help. But then you're putting drizzle the dressing or dunk it. Physically put the fork in a bowl and dunk salad in the isn't yes, isn't that new?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, very new, very new.
SPEAKER_02I know, I know. They told me, and I've been trying it and I love it. And I don't feel too bloated or heavy from the salad, and I feel like I have more control, and it just feels cleaner, like it feels like an actual salad. So that's a fun little tip and trick that um I even just taught Taylor, so that's fun. I love that.
SPEAKER_00I'm a measure though. You are a measure, all measure. I weigh a measure everything because I can't do it.
SPEAKER_02Of course you do, so obviously.
SPEAKER_00Of course, you know, it's a part of my it's a part of it. No, you do have to measure it. That's what I do. I just everything's measured out, so that's good.
SPEAKER_02And I I have started doing that with uh my granola. I was eating my um vanilla Greek yogurt, and I was just pouring it on top. I no measure's desire. To my heart's desire. And child was like, girl, and I decided to use a teaspoon. He said, only one or two teaspoons of granola. I'm like, that's not enough. But you adjust. You adjust, you need it. It it's gonna make me feel the way I want to feel. And so cheat day, no, yes.
SPEAKER_00Right now, no. No, cheat day. Not right now, right now. There's no benefit in doing that.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um, for me at least. For you know, typical people, it is I think it's good to have one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, I was taught the more mental um necessity of that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's a mental thing to have a break. To have a little bit of a break.
SPEAKER_00Tell your body too, because if you're in a like, if you're in a deficit, you gotta tell your body like, hey, hey, like I'm not trying to kill you. Here's a burger. Here's a burger, yeah. And then it'll, you know, sometimes your body will like be like, hold on. Yeah, your body's smarter than you. So you gotta kind of be like, you know, here's a burger. Yeah, here's a burger, facilitates, facilitate. You haven't forgotten about me. Okay, I'm gonna start, you know, doing over again again. So yes, yeah, so it is necessary to have them. But for me right now, with what I'm doing, there's no benefit. So I'm not having them right now. That's okay. Yeah, I mean it's for the girl too soon, Jesse.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Jessie. She can't wait to have her freaking cheat day back. Give her her cheat day, okay? She deserves it. She's a growing girl, okay, Jessie. Um, but um, okay, so no cheat day. So that's pretty much a day-to-day that you eat. Of course, it changes. Um, let's go with the one thing that you would tell any woman who's out there who's maybe struggling with her fitness, um, besides getting a trainer, like what's one piece of advice you would give her to either get her started or to keep her going um in this fitness journey. It's not about bodybuilding, it's not about what the number is on the scale. Like we said, like, don't look at the number, the number doesn't matter. Um, it's about how your body feels, but like, what is that? What is one advice that you could go, you could give her before we end?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um, just there's a lot of information out there, and don't be afraid to um seek it and create a plan. You're gonna save a lot more time having a guideline of what you're doing, um, instead of just kind of being everywhere and trying to guess and you know, just doing everything you can to make something happen instead of knowing what you need to do to make it happen. Right. Um, so yeah, just planning and um just be consistent no matter what. The beginning is the is the shittiest. It's the hardest. It is it is the beginning is the hardest part. The beginning is the hardest part. Um just stick with it and wait it out. Even when things are not um working, yeah, keep doing it. Yes, and figure that out as you're uh continuing what you're doing. I would say, you know, just keep keep going, don't just like, oh, I'm not gonna go to the gym until I figure out what's happening. No, keep going and then figure out what else you know you need to do to um achieve what you're trying to achieve. Yes. Don't stop.
SPEAKER_02Don't stop. Keep going.
SPEAKER_00Don't put it down.
SPEAKER_02Yes. So one foot in front of the other.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, really two big things. Just keep going.
SPEAKER_02Yes, keep going and the soul thing. Yes, the soul thing.
SPEAKER_00Take care of your your soul's home. Your soul lives in here.
SPEAKER_02Your soul lives in here. Like she said, take care of your home, just like you take care of your physical home. This is your home. This is the only home you get. Take care of it as such because it may not be here longer. So, fitness is live, healthy, strong, healthy mind or healthy body, healthy mind, and vice versa. The mind they all go hand in hand. Obviously, she has a incredibly strong mind for her to be able to build such a beautiful body. Obviously, I'm gonna attack her so you guys will see how beautiful her body is. I know you can see it with just her sitting here, but it's a whole nother level when you see the full picture. Like this girl's insanely cut, and it's just incredible to know a woman that is pushing herself, that's helping other women by just doing what you're doing. It's not even that it needs to be intentional, but you just showing up for yourself. That helps other women to show up for themselves, and I think that that's what we all need to do for each other. So I'm super happy that you were here with me. I'm really excited to have you here. This was super fun. This is a great chat. This is one of many. I know we have a long, long way to go. We have way other things to talk about. Like this was just the start, and our freaking video got cut off. So there were some parts that we don't even have, but that's okay. Everything happens for a reason. We will have another chat. This is just one of many. Um, so thank you for being here. Thank you for being here. So check back in with her, and we'll check back in because she's my girl. Um, I'm happy that you guys were here with me. As always, love on yourself, take care of yourself, show yourself some grace, and I will see you on the next episode. We're signing out. Bye.
