Wednesday's Community Prayer reflects on John 12:44-46.
Today's prayer is led by Jade Spears, Director of Mission Integration.
Take a moment to quiet yourselves in preparation for community prayer.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
In John chapter 12 verses 44 through 46, we read: “Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me believes not only in me but also in the one who sent me, and whoever sees me sees the one who sent me. I came into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness.”
When Jesus Christ says, “Whoever believes in me believes not only in me but also in the one who sent me… I came into the world as light…”, He’s reminding us of something powerful: faith isn’t just about knowing about Him; it’s about truly trusting Him and letting that trust change how we see everything.
Think about what “light” means in your life. Light helps you see clearly. It makes things less scary. It shows the path forward. Without light, everything feels uncertain, confusing, even overwhelming. A lot of life in high school can feel like that, pressure, comparison, friendships, figuring out who you are. Jesus is saying: you don’t have to stay in that darkness.
Believing in Him isn’t just agreeing that He exists; it’s choosing to let Him guide you. It’s trusting that God sees you, knows you, and has purpose for your life, even when things feel unclear. When you walk in His “light,” it doesn’t mean life becomes perfect, but it does mean you don’t walk through it alone or without direction.
So here are a few questions to reflect on: Where in your life do you feel like you’re “in the dark” right now? What would it look like to let Jesus bring light into that situation? Do you see God as someone close and loving or distant and hard to reach?
Dear God, Thank You for sending Jesus Christ to be our light. Help us to trust in You and follow You, even when life feels confusing or dark. Open our hearts to see Your love and guide us in Your trust each day. Remember that we are never alone. Amen. Jesus, remember me. St. Joseph, pray for us.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
