SPEAKER_00

There we go.

SPEAKER_01

SPEAKER_00

Perfect. Uh, yes. A little background for this uh theme of the ocean. I hate the ocean. I don't like any of the creatures in it. No. There's no part of it that's redeemable. And for that reason, I was like, I need to do some ocean trivia for Mike.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Sorry everyone, I'm we like to have a song going while we go.

SPEAKER_00

It helps our brain flow better and we answer more songs or questions correctly.

SPEAKER_01

But I love the idea of a watery one, but at this point, I'll take anything. So this one's called just bass and drum.

SPEAKER_00

Perfect. Alright. Question two. What percentage of the ocean never receives sunlight? Is it A50%, B65%, or C90%?

SPEAKER_01

A.

SPEAKER_00

It's B. And they have one brain that controls like the center, and then they have a brain for each arm. What are they called? Tentacles.

SPEAKER_00

Aunt Gracie's worth the sip.

SPEAKER_01

That was really good. Okay, keep going, sorry.

SPEAKER_00

It actually is sponsored by Aunt Gracie's Cafe. We just did a really good job of casually throwing that in there. Yeah. Anyways, question number five. What is the largest type of sea turtle? Is it A, Loggerhead, B, Hawksbill, or C leatherback?

SPEAKER_01

SPEAKER_01

SPEAKER_00

What percentage of the Earth is made up of the ocean? Is it 60%, 70%, or 80? 60? 70! Isn't that bad? That's too much ocean.

SPEAKER_01

So as we record this, Artemis 2, Orion spacecraft, is landing today in the ocean, correct?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

The gross ocean.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. They only have to hit 70% of the planet.

SPEAKER_00

What's that part in Lilo and Stitch where he's like Stitch's little pod is going off to Earth and he goes, Don't worry, it's mostly water anyways, and then he lands on the Hawaii.

SPEAKER_01

His little laugh.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Anyways, question seven. What type of animal is the killer whale technically? Is it a whale, a shark, or a dolphin?

SPEAKER_01

A dolphin?

SPEAKER_00

It is. It's a big dolphin.

SPEAKER_01

They have large brains?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And bodies. They're big. And they eat other fish. They're not good.

SPEAKER_01

We saw what's her face? Whale, the one that killed someone before. We didn't see it happen.

SPEAKER_00

What's her name though?

SPEAKER_01

T? Does it start with a T?

SPEAKER_00

Or an S?

unknown

Dude, I thought.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's the chick. It's Shamu Shamu's girlfriend is the one that killed the, yeah. But I don't remember her name. May she rest in peace. Anyways.

SPEAKER_01

I've maybe she's alive. Oh. Okay, no, we'll continue. I have no idea.

SPEAKER_00

What do we call the deep? Why did I say it like that? What do we call the deepest part? You can say it that way. The deepest part of the ocean. Is it the midnight zone? The abyss or the marina trench?

SPEAKER_01

Marina Trench?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Wow, you know a lot about the ocean.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know where this is coming from.

SPEAKER_00

You're just winning.

SPEAKER_01

It's Nemo. Yeah, Mike.

SPEAKER_00

Everything you've learned from Nemo is now finally being useful.

SPEAKER_01

Something. I can't even remember the address. I was gonna make a big joke. What is this freaking address?

SPEAKER_00

Sydney P Sherman.

SPEAKER_01

P. Sherman42 all.

SPEAKER_00

Let me wave.

SPEAKER_01

I'm actually Dory. Continue.

SPEAKER_00

Your memory doesn't work.

SPEAKER_01

Abby tried to save me and I think she did.

SPEAKER_00

She did. Question number nine. How long can sea turtles hold their breath? Two hours, four hours, or six hours?

SPEAKER_01

Six hours?

SPEAKER_00

Only two.

SPEAKER_01

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Then they gotta pop up.

SPEAKER_01

That's cra actually crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I feel like how much how far can you really travel in two hours?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Let's hold our breath now.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, for two hours? On air, and it's just this one song on a loop for two hours?

unknown

Doo doo doo doo.

SPEAKER_00

How many pounds of plastic is estimated to go into the ocean every year? Is it one billion, fourteen billion, or thirty three billion?

SPEAKER_01

None are good. I'm gonna say thirty-three.

SPEAKER_00

It is thirty-three billion. I believe in us every year. I believe in us! Mike, we can crank out those high numbers.

SPEAKER_01

Abby has a bracelet. She's in the room with us, by the way. Made of trash.

SPEAKER_00

Ocean trash?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

That's beautiful.

SPEAKER_01

Team 40, right? Or no, team 40.

SPEAKER_00

Trash? I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Team C's.

SPEAKER_00

Team C's?

SPEAKER_01

Something like that. I don't remember. You donate, like, whatever, 20 bucks or like the the bracelet's 20. I shouldn't even be talking about it.

SPEAKER_00

You're like, she gave money and then she got a bracelet somehow, and every dollar is one pound of trash removed. Is one pound. It takes one pound of trash to make it.

SPEAKER_01

No. Oh. Then they just make it out of plastic.

SPEAKER_00

Fresh plastic?

SPEAKER_01

I think ocean plastic.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Wonderful.

SPEAKER_00

This next set of questions are specifically about squids.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Which are my least favorite animal on the planet.

SPEAKER_01

What does the meme say here? Sorry.

SPEAKER_00

Um Mike sends me this text periodically just to remind me.

SPEAKER_01

So every couple months I clean out my pictures.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's why I get it?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so I always end up seeing because like I get rid of all screenshots except this one.

SPEAKER_00

Because it's important.

SPEAKER_01

It says, Google says, see a 3D octopus in your room with the Google app. And then it's someone responds and says, no, I'm okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I I agree. I never want to see that. I didn't respond last time. Because I don't want, I don't like when I see it again. I just imagine a squid in my in my room. So in honor of that, uh these the next six questions are about squids. So question 11. What era are squids from? Is it the Triassic? Jurassic or Cretaceous?

SPEAKER_01

Cretaceous?

SPEAKER_00

Jurassic. Jurassic? Jurassic Park. Jurassic Park.

SPEAKER_01

Goodness.

SPEAKER_00

That's horrible. How big is the colossal squid's eye?

SPEAKER_01

A soccer ball.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Is it?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's 12 inches.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yes.

SPEAKER_00

Isn't that disgusting? That's a foot.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, yeah, sorry. I'm celebrating. Um We can't be happy.

SPEAKER_00

How big on average do colossal squids grow to be? Oh. Are they 25 feet, 33 feet, or 41 feet?

SPEAKER_01

25.

SPEAKER_00

33. Oh. That's too long. I'm only five feet tall. That's too many of me. And it's a squid.

SPEAKER_01

I really get uncomfortable, and especially we're sitting in this room where we've seen so many videos of frickin' squids. I keep saying that word.

SPEAKER_00

I know.

SPEAKER_01

Bleep.

SPEAKER_00

I have so back in the glory days of college when we had a weekly knockout.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Which was a show that we did. I would give squid and shark updates every single week.

SPEAKER_01

But we'd watch one or we'd see pictures, and so it was bad.

SPEAKER_00

And it's still bad. I still don't like these animals. So there's a colossal squid, which is the biggest squid, and then the giant squid, which is the scariest one. So that's why some of these questions are about the colossals, some are about the giant.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I see.

SPEAKER_00

Question number 13 or 14 is about the colossal squid. What is the colossal squid's unique method of fighting? Is it that A, it has hooks in its tentacles, B, it has venomous ink, or C, it has the strongest grip strength of any squid.

SPEAKER_01

Grip strength?

SPEAKER_00

No, it has hooks in its tentacles. Are you serious? I never knew those. Instead of little well, it still has a little suction thingies, but it also has a bunch of hooks. Disgusting.

SPEAKER_01

You need to follow our podcast, or there will be a squid in your room.

SPEAKER_00

Tonight. Like, I'm following. I'm not even following yet, but I will follow just as a precaution. What? Number 15. What is the diet of a giant squid? Is it a small fish? B larger fish like sharks, or C anything it can get its hands on like other giant squids.

SPEAKER_01

That last one.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, so they are known cannibals.

SPEAKER_01

Wonderful.

SPEAKER_00

But they'll eat anything that swims their way.

SPEAKER_01

Hey buddy, you can try again. Sorry, I the mic was off here. He's trying to talk. This is um Sir Miles Axelrod. Now you can talk. Say hello. You don't have to.

SPEAKER_00

You don't have to. He's part of our pod.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he's at a mic.

SPEAKER_00

You ready for 16?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, how many are there?

SPEAKER_00

There's 16's the last one, and then I got one for the road.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you do have our okay, I see.

SPEAKER_00

Number 16. How many tentacles do squids have? Is it eight, ten, or twelve?

SPEAKER_01

Um, excuse me. That was Sir Miles Axelrod. That's not his name. Scratching the thing.

unknown

Yeah, they want to take this off.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you can. The last one.

SPEAKER_00

They only have ten. Only ten.

SPEAKER_01

I guess uh in my head they have three.

SPEAKER_00

Do squids not have three Well, octopuses have eight. Oh, it was octopus? No, and then squids have ten.

SPEAKER_01

Do they really?

SPEAKER_00

They have two extra ones just for fun.

SPEAKER_01

For eating podcasters.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. They're disgusting. So mainly I wanted you to suffer through this knowledge of the ocean that I had.

SPEAKER_01

I actually, in not here, let me uh pause the song for a second. Yes? Well, mine's gotta stay on. It makes it sound good.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You can sit come sit with daddy. Oh, don't take mine off. Um. Okay. See, you want to say something? Say nine.

SPEAKER_00

No, I need to do the mic.

SPEAKER_01

We um I get scared talking about this, and it brings me back to the days of having to see those pictures. So thank you for bringing me back, dearest sibling.

SPEAKER_00

The horrible, horrible ocean.

SPEAKER_01

Miles is removing the uh mic covers.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

So it's a more raw clique experience.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's hard at work right now.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so the reason I was asking Grace how many are left, I wasn't trying to be done.

SPEAKER_00

We all wanted to be done. We didn't want to know anything else about the ocean.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. But we're trying to do one to go, basically, or as she said, for the road, which is great. Go to the description and be the first one to get this question.

SPEAKER_00

There you go.

SPEAKER_01

Be the first one. It's we have a feedback button, or I don't know what it's labeled. Be the first one to do it. You get a shout out.

SPEAKER_00

We will shout you out.

SPEAKER_01

You can Google the answer.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'll never know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So go to no matter where you're listening, you can participate. Gracie, hit us.

SPEAKER_00

One for the road. What is the deadliest predator in the ocean? And I'll give you A, B, and C. Is it A, the killer whale, B, the great white shark, or C, the polar bear?

SPEAKER_01

And we have no answer for you. You gotta come back next time. Hey, thank you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It's been good.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you, Grace, for hosting it today.

SPEAKER_00

Of course. Thanks for learning about the ocean. My favorite outro! This is so good! Hey. Have a dance party. Google the deadliest predator in the ocean, and we'll see you next time. Yeah, goodbye.
