Augmented Artisans
Over many months I’ve had many late-night conversations with Google’s AI assistant “Gemini.” Our discussions have included heath and medical issues, real estate transactions, politics, economics, legal issues, and questions of which I have concerns about humanity’s collective and purpose on this planet. I have also worked with AI to assist me in the books I write, from research to pacing, and answers to questions about which I know little. This is the first the podcasts related to our chats! Please let me know if the podcast provide any value.

In this thought-provoking episode, host George and AI guest Gemini delve into the ethical and scientific implications of using emerging technologies like CRISPR and optogenetics to alter human behavior. They explore the potential to "silence" genes linked to addiction, aggression, and other traits, raising questions about the fine line between healing and bioengineering. The conversation touches on the risks of societal coercion, the importance of preserving individuality, and the concept of "biological honesty"—using science to align one's actions with personal values. Together, they examine whether such interventions could be tools of freedom or instruments of tyranny, leaving listeners with profound questions about humanity, morality, and the future of neuroscience.
