I have nothing but compassion for Dustin Poirier after his uh meltdown and arrest at that Atlanta, Georgia airport. Dustin Poirier revealed on the Stephen Bartlett Diary of a CEO podcast that the arrest uh his meltdown happened because even though his father's day started out great, he got to spend time with his kids. Dustin revealed that he started thinking about his own father. And his father had a history of alcoholism and uh physical abuse with Dustin's mom. So I could see why that would start putting him in a dark place. And I guess he said, you know, on his travels en route, he had that layover at the uh Georgia airport, and there was somewhere where alcohol was available. So Dustin admitted he made a poor choice and started drinking to try to squash, I guess, his down feelings. So when we put it in that context, I think we could all empathize. I mean, it's Father's Day, it starts out great for him because he gets to spend time with his own kids, but once he starts reflecting on where his father's at and his own relationship with his father, I can see why that would put him in a downward spiral. So I hope folks on the internet who jumped on the bandwagon and started either making fun of Dustin or condemning him for that arrest. I hope they can grape together a little compassion in their heart and just hope that Dustin's able to get the help and support that he needs to work through how he'll handle not just his relationship with his father, but also his feelings and how he deals with that. So, best of wishes to you, Dustin. This is not easy, and I certainly wish you the best of this. Team De Los Santos will file a protest regarding the KO loss to Jose Valenzuela. I'm really glad to hear that because I thought Edwin de Edwin de los Santos was completely wronged in that fight. Yes, Valenzuela dropped him, but as de los Santos was semi-reclined on the canvas, Jose took another swipe at him, blatant foul. He threw another left uppercut. Now, boxing journalist Mike Coppinger had the audacity to say after the fight that the the punch didn't hit De Los Santos squarely and that it grazed his shoulder, according to either the officials or the commissioner. That is 100% false. That punch did connect on De Los Santos' chin. But you know what? Even if it didn't, it's an automatic DQ if you throw a punch at somebody who's down on the canvas because he aimed that uppercut at about two and a half feet off the canvas, which is where de los Santos' head was. There's absolutely no way Jose Valenzuela can claim he did not know that Edwin de los Santos was down. It's not like Valenzuela threw a punch at where you would expect de los Santos' head to be if he were standing. I mean, in basketball it'd be called a flagrant foul, but by the rules of boxing, Valenzuela should have been DQ'd and by default, Elon Edwin de la Rosa should have won that fight. So I'm interested to hear what the officials and the commission has to say about that. What do you guys think the outcome should be? Should Valenzuela get DQ'd and we give De Los Santos the W, or should we just call the whole thing a no contest? Or do we let Valenzuela keep the KO victory? I look forward to reading your comments. Thanks. That security guard at the airport who called for backup, I think he's incompetent as a security guard. That's the security guard whose body cam footage has been aired and memed all over social media. So if you're the security guard, you're not just a gate agent. You're security guard if you got that body cam on, right? And I don't know if he's armed or unarmed. However, let's think about this a bit. Any security guard at the airport most likely is going to be dealing with someone who is unarmed. Because how can anybody get their weapon past TSA unless there's some type of federal agent or military and they're allowed to have their weapon on board with them. But if that's the case, we should assume that they're not gonna be irresponsible with their weapon. So safe to bet that even if this person is an MMA fighter and they're drunk, they're not gonna have a weapon on them. Now, the first thing this security guard should have picked up on was that Dustin was already upset and angry. So what's your first the first thing you should do? You should try to de-escalate the situation. But what did this security guard do? Well, he's a wimp, so he escalated it. He said, I don't want to fight you, man. I'm gonna call for back. It's like, come on. You know, he's this is a professional MMA fighter. He doesn't really want to fight you. He fight, he used to fight for tons of money. I've been blessed to meet several super effective, humane, compassionate security guards. And one of them I got to observe de-escalate situations with other folks, and another security guard de-escalated a situation that I was involved in where I was very upset. But I would bet that if you asked any veteran security guard, they would probably tell you that at least 95% of the incidents they deal with can be handled through de-escalation. How do you do that? You reach out to the person, you find some point of connection, you divert them from whatever they're upset about. You may or may not be able to reason with them, so you might just have to be kind and try to communicate in a way that they don't feel attacked, and maybe they'll even open up. I dare say that if one of my very good friends who is a security guard had been there instead of that airport security guard, I bet he could have gotten to Dustin Poirier's heart and been able to reach him about the real story, which is Dustin was upset about his father, who's a chronic alcoholic and is now homeless. What Dustin needed in that moment was an open heart and an open ear, not somebody to try to flex on him. Because when a fighter feels like someone's flexing on them, what are they gonna do? They're just gonna up the ante even higher. Which is what Dustin did verbally, so it led to his arrest. Bottom line, diffuse, don't escalate. Let me know what you guys think of that incident in the comments. Thanks.
