Connor McGregor suffered a torn ACL and a torn meniscus. I was pretty sure it was the torn meniscus based on the way he landed improperly from that flying head kick, but I thought it was more likely that it was a torn MCL rather than a torn ACL. So I stand corrected. However, I question whether or not Connor will be able to return to the ring before 2027, or rather the cage. In order for his injuries to heal fully and for him to resume training at the level he would need to in order to step into an elite-level UFC fight, I think we don't see Connor until 2027 at the earliest. Furthermore, if Connor decides to exit the testing pool so he can take more PEDs, he'll have to sit out a full 18 months and test clean in order to re-enter the valid fighting pool. Now, having said all that, I do fully believe that in Connor's heart he wants to fight again because it's really not satisfying for him to go out with his last two fights being losses due to injuries that weren't even caused by his opponent. At the very least, I would think Connor McGregor would want to go out, giving it us all in the cage. However, has time run out for Connor McGregor? Let me know your thoughts in the comments and thumbnail. Thanks. Canelo Alvarez has postponed his title challenge versus Christian Imbilly to October 31st, Halloween. It was supposed to take place in September for Mexican Independence Day. However, Canelo says that he had family issues to take care of and therefore he could not start his training camp until recently. Now, if you've been following the bouncing ball, remember Terrence Crawford won the WBC Super Middleweight belt when he challenged Canelo. And then Terrence decided he didn't want to pay the sanctioning fees for the various belts and he also retired. Now, whether he retired because he wanted to retire and also not pay the sanctioning fees, that's a whole separate issue. More than a few of us feel that Terence should have paid the sanctioning fees, anyways, because that's why he got such a huge pay-per-view cut, was because he was fighting for those belts. So to retroactively tell the sanctioning bodies, oh, by the way, I don't want to pay your sanctioning fees, I'm retiring, you can have your belts back, that's a little tacky. Regardless, after Terence won the belts and then abandoned them, Christian and Billy was promoted to actual world champion because he was the interim WBC super middleweight champion. And no diss to Christian and Billy, but he effectively won the belts via email. He didn't win the title in the ring, in other words. So now the bouncing ball is going to go back to Canelo. And it's pretty clear that the WBC is playing this game because if Christian and Billy said, hey, you know what, I want to postpone the fight because I have family matters to take care of and I'm not going to be able to start my training camp on time to get ready for September 12th, what do you think the WBC would have said? What do you think the promoter would have said? They would have said, Tough luck, Christian, you're the fight's on September 12th, because that's when Canelo wants it, Mexican Independence Day. So I really hate to say it, and this is no disrespect to Christian and Billy, but I'm not really sure that too many people care about this fight. The diehard Canelo fans do, but at this point, I think a little bit of the shine has worn off Canelo Alvarez. Nevertheless, he's must-see boxing at this point still, and so we will tune in to watch him. But tell me how much you're willing to pay to watch Canelo Alvarez face Christian and Billy on Halloween. Or would you rather go out trick-or-treating? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and fan mail. Ryan Clark gets let go by ESPN and a controversy there, or controversy, TV journalist, on the fact that he's not a former athlete and has never played the game of football at the professional level. Insulting to this other journalist. I didn't quite follow the story. But you know, here's the thing. I will gladly call out these so-called combat sport journalists on the fact that they have zero minutes of experience on the mat, in the ring, or in the cage. And so when they spout off and try to sound like they're experts, yeah, I'm gonna call them on their BS. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. But I thought it was pretty funny that Ryan Clark offered to be the person to identify celebrities on the next UFC broadcast. Dana White, of course, was his production team failed to identify Shakur Stevenson and Terrence Crawford. So what do you think? Ryan Clark will do a great job of identifying celebrities on the next UFC broadcast? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and fan mail. Thanks. Dana White recently signed Shakur Stevenson to Zufah Boxing, and there's been plenty of speculation that Dana should go after Devin Haney to make that fight. But oh no, Devin Haney might sign a deal with the Zone, and then it's gonna be really hard for Zufa Boxing to work with De Zone unless Turkey brings a whole pile of money to the table. However, I think Dana is way smarter than all these pundits who are crying for Shakur versus Devon. Here's why. Devon may not have signed Shakur to secure Shakur. Just like I don't think Dana signed Connor to secure Connor. Dana signed Connor so he he could lure in a bigger fish in Ryan Garcia, which he did. Notice that Dana was able to make that deal with Garcia in spite of Ryan being signed to Golden Boy. Dana and Oscar seem to be arch enemies, or at least like two hissy fit teenage girls always feuding and talking trash about each other. Nevertheless, note that Connor Ben isn't considered one of the greatest technical fighters at that weight at either 147 or 154, nor does he have a belt at this point. Yet, because Dana signed Connor, he was able to lure in the belt holder, Ryan Garcia, who's also the bigger draw than Connor Ben. So it's my theory that Dana also signed Shakura, not so much just to have Shakur, but because he knows Dana knows that there's so many big names at the 135 or 140-pound weight division and even 147, that there are plenty of terrific fights to be made versus his fighter, Shakur Stevenson. So let's take a look. So here's why I don't think Dana wants Shakur to fight Devon. And it's mainly a question of styles make fights. Devon is just not that exciting a fighter, nor is Shakur. So that putting the two of them together might be a boring fight. I mean, in terms of styles, you want to match Shakur with someone who brings it, somebody who's more of a brawler or at least comes to fight. So at 140, of course, we have the fight that's coming up. Tia Fima Lopez, we have Rolly Romero. Both of those guys have name recognition, they have a social media presence, and they come to fight. They will bring the fight to Shakur. Another game fighter at 140 is Isaac Cruz. He's kind of fallen off the radar a little bit lately, but I think he's a viable contender because he would make a fun fight. Now, across the pond, there are also some really great potential matchups with Shakur. I think Josh Kelly and also Jack Catterall. Two guys who just really bring the fight into the ring. And they will definitely step to Shakur. Now, two real long shots that are also smaller than 140 and have not fought at 140 would be Tank Davis and Vasil Lomachenko. Now, Tank Davis is always a hot potato because we just don't know what he's gonna do next outside of the ring. And he he is smaller than the 140. But due to his time out of the ring, he might consider moving up to 140 if the price is right. Vasily Lomachenko has been saying he wants to make a comeback, and yes, he typically fights at the 135-pound division, but given his time off and the fact that I'm pretty sure he gained some weight, 140 may be more acceptable to him. Shakur, Tank Davis, and Vasily Lomachenko are all highly skilled technical fighters. But notice the contrast in style between Shakur and, for example, Tank, who's an explosive southpaw with fantastic body shots to cut down the taller Shakur tree, and the super evasive Vasil Lomachenko, also a southpaw, who can cut those corners and create awkward angles for his opponents. I really think those two would be the biggest fights for Shakur. Now, other interesting matchups would definitely be Frank Martin or Lamont Roach. However, in terms of name recognition, I feel like they're really only known to those of us who really follow boxing closely. So maybe Dana throws Shakur, an opponent like Aregis Progray that he threw at Connor Ben. Maybe, maybe Dana throws him a warm-up type fight like that and then tries to match him with the bigger fish. Let's see. That was a formula that worked with Connor Ben. It got Connor Ben more exposure to the US audience. And I think it showed Paramount Plus, you know, Dana's got to keep Paramount Plus happy. It showed them that, you know, Connor Ben was a fighter that they'd probably like to work with. You know, you gotta keep the suits happy, right? You can't you can't just keep uh the combat sport fans happy. All boxing promoters are beholden to the broadcast muckety muck suit executives because they hold the purse strings. So given that Shakur is really not, you know, a household name at this point, maybe Dana wants to get them a little more exposure first and reassure all the purse string holders at Paramount Plus that Shakur is a worthwhile investment. And then Dana goes to try to lure in the big fish, and he could at that point hopefully secure more funds from Paramount Plus and whomever else in order to reel in a mega fight for us. So, who would you like to see Shakur Stevenson face? I really think either a Tank Davis or Vasile Lomachenko fight would be far more exciting than Devin Haney. Let me know your thoughts on that in the comments and fan mail. Thank you. Ryan Garcia accuses Connor Ben of being a silver spoon. But Connor Ben doesn't fight like he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Ryan Garcia is the one that folds under pressure. Even though Connor Ben does have his technical flaws, you cannot deny that he showed a great deal of heart and grit in both of his fights versus Chris Eubank Jr., where Chris Eubank definitely had the size advantage. But look at Ryan Garcia's two losses. Did Ryan Garcia bite down on his mouthpiece versus that body shot that Tank hit him with? He rose to his feet to beat the count, or just to barely miss beating the count rather. And he wasn't wobbly at all. So he could probably have beaten the count versus Tank, but he chose not to. I won't use the Q word, but Ryan did not show me that he had a lot of grit versus Tank Davis. His second loss versus Rolly Romero, well, as soon as he got dropped, due to his own technical flaw and to a great game plan strategy devised by Rolly's team, which was to take Ryan's jab away from him and throw that double left hook. Well, as soon as Ryan got dropped, what did he do? Did he bite down on his mouthpiece and try to get revenge? No, he kind of just ran and gave up for the rest of that fight. So who's the Silver Spoon kid? Is it really Connor Ben, just because he grew up with a famous father in Mallorca, Spain, where he became fluent in Spanish? Or even, you know, even though Ryan Garcia wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, ever since he turned pro, he's had quite a few fights handed to him, including the WBC world title at 147. I mean, I was flabbergasted as to why the WBC and PBC were working so hard to maintain Mario Barrios, who is maybe one of the worst world champions ever, as Paul Malinaji said, but he's certainly incredibly flawed technically. So, you know, why was the WBC and the PBC so invested in Barrios? Well, simply so that they could hand him off to their golden goose, which is Ryan Garcia. In other words, I don't think Garcia felt that Barrios was really going to provide much of a challenge for him, and that's what gave him the confidence to step forward. Bottom line, who's the one that really fights their off when the going gets tough? Ryan Garcia or Connor Ben? Let me know what you guys think in the comments and the fan mail. Thank you. Ben Askren, the MMA champion, recently fought in the real American freestyle RAF wrestling versus Bilal Muhammad. Ben lost the match on point. However, in that loss, there is a victory because Ben, as you remember, was the recipient of a double lung transplant. For more than a little while, Ben was in seriously critical condition in the hospital while he awaited that double lung transplant. So, I mean, I think it's absolutely unbelievable that Ben Ashren was even able to step out there on the mat and compete versus an elite-level grappler. After that match, Ben Ascren officially retired. He left his wrestling shoes on the mat. However, I think Ben will continue to be a leader both on and off the mat, especially in the sport of wrestling. So I think we owe Ben a huge thank you and a huge appreciation for the contribution he's made to the world of wrestling and MMA. So tell us what your favorite Ben Ashgurn moment is.
