The only unsolved hijacking in U.S. history: On November 24, 1971, a man calling himself D.B. Cooper pulled off the perfect crime - hijacking a plane, collecting $200,000 ransom, and vanishing into thin air. This true crime documentary explores the cold case that has baffled the FBI for over 50 years.
What started as a routine Thanksgiving Eve flight became America's greatest unsolved mystery. Cooper calmly handed flight attendant Florence Schaffner a note claiming he had a bomb, showed her the contents of his briefcase, and made his demands. After receiving the ransom money and parachutes in Seattle, he released the 36 passengers and ordered the crew to fly toward Mexico City.
Somewhere over the dense forests of southwestern Washington, Cooper lowered the aft stairs of the Boeing 727 and jumped into a raging storm - never to be seen again. Despite one of the longest-running investigations in FBI history, Cooper's true identity and fate remain unknown. Did he survive the jump? Was he an experienced paratrooper? Or did he perish in the wilderness?
