The Most Effective Annual Treatments for Collagen Support and Healthy Aging
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Random treatments can be expensive, painful, and disappointing when they are not tied to a real plan. Marissa Parchman cuts through the noise with a practical “if you could only pick a few” guide to anti-aging that focuses on proven results, smart scheduling, and the simplest way to prioritize your skin goals without getting overwhelmed.
We talk through the highest-ROI aesthetic treatments we see deliver again and again: microneedling for broad collagen stimulation and texture, CO2 laser resurfacing for deeper lines and more advanced aging patterns, and IPL photofacial treatments for sun damage, pigmentation, redness, and rosacea support. We also get specific about timing, including why consistency matters more than perfection and how many sessions are typically needed upfront before you shift into maintenance.
On the injectable side, we break down why Botox is more than “instant gratification,” how it can prevent wrinkles from getting etched in when used on a steady schedule, and when dermal filler can restore structure by supporting facial shape. Marissa also shares what she is seeing with SkinVive, a newer skin-hydrating injectable that can improve crepey, lined areas for the right candidate. Plus, we connect aesthetics to wellness with a story about an epigenetic wellness scan that revealed a hidden driver of inflammation and why lifestyle factors can make even great treatments fall flat.
If you want clearer skin, smoother texture, and a smarter anti-aging routine, listen now, then subscribe, share with a friend who is overwhelmed by options, and leave a review so more people can find the show.

SPEAKER_02I'm Julie Schwenzer, co-host and producer, here again with the very helpful Marissa Parchman of Timeless Skin and Wellness. Marissa, are you ready to help people simplify their treatment priorities today?
SPEAKER_01Hello, Julie. Yes, I'm always trying to give advice that helps people simplify things, especially when it comes to aging, because it's such a complex conversation and there's so many options out there and so many things. And so, yes, absolutely.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, help helping us navigate through all of this is so great.
The Best Treatment ROI List
SPEAKER_02So if someone could only invest in a few treatments each year, and I know that's hard to say because everybody's different, but totally, you know, what comes to mind for services that offer the best return for skin health and graceful aging?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so I have done it all, even services that we don't offer at my clinic. I have gone and paid for treatments at other clinics. I have had demos on so many devices that are out there. And this goes for machines and um injectables, and there are a few things that I always find myself coming back to. And when you think about it, it's really just taking it back to the basics. Um, microneedle is one thing that didn't come along until, you know, several years ago. It's not one of the OGs in aesthetics, but it's always gonna just be a leader. Um, microneedle is one thing that I have mentioned before, it's safe for all skin types. The results are absolutely just beautiful. You can do so many things with microneedle anymore. You can add it with chemical peel, you can add it with growth factors. So, microneedle is always gonna be a really great investment and consistency. I can't preach consistency enough. Um, but microneedle is so, so good. So um CO2 laser. CO2 laser. Also, you have to kind of think about like how are you aging? Microneedle, it doesn't matter how you you're aging. It's gonna help with fine lines, it's gonna help with wrinkles, it's gonna help um stimulate collagen and just make the skin look nice and fresh. It's gonna shed everything that needs to come off. So that's kind of the exception to the rule. Um, CO2 laser, if you are looking at your mother and seeing a lot of fine, deep lines, then CO2 laser. I started CO2 laser at a fairly young age. I had acne scars. So I started probably around like 25, 26. Um, but at the age 30, 31, 32, if you come from a family which their skin typically is gonna look kind of like mine, then you're gonna deal with stretchy skin and a lot of lines and a lot of wrinkles and you know, this skin that you start to see here. Um, so clients with that really fair skin that's family has a lot of lines and wrinkles, CO2 laser face, never leave out the neck, and then eventually you want to start adding your chest in. Um, that's something you're not gonna do more than once a year. So if you're doing a CO2 laser once a year, um I've gotten to the point that now I'm doing them every other year. I probably did once a year for three or four years. I was actually due last year and I didn't do one. So I'm gonna do one this coming year uh or this year, I'll do it in the fall. And the results are beautiful. I think that that is one thing that has helped me on my aging journey so, so much. Um and a couple more. IPL. IPL. If you are somebody who has a history of skin cancer in your family, if you're somebody who's super, super speckly, IPL consistently. Um, I sat on a podcast not to your uh webinar not too long ago, and there was a woman who said CO2 laser once a year and IPL every single month. So she's old school. She was probably 72 years old, still practicing. Stunning woman. And she is doing IPL consistently. You know, we have clients that are in once a month and they're doing microneedles, sometimes they're doing IPL. We have other clients that they don't want to be in there that often. We have clients who we don't see for two years. So um often life just gets in the way. You often think that you are gonna keep up with the treatment plan, and then all of a sudden a year's gone by. So when it comes to pigmentation and keeping that not only that pigment at bay, but it helps with reds, rosacea. It's gonna help with collagen stimulation if it's done consistently. So if you're somebody who has a lot of speckles, maybe not as many wrinkles, then IPL. So IPL, microneodle, CO2 laser. And then my go-to when it comes to injections is Botox. Botox is, you know, it's instant gratification. It is going to paralyze a muscle. And when you do that consistently again, it's going to prevent damage in the skin. For example, you have wrinkles in your forehead. The first year you decide to get Botox, you want to do that Botox every three or four months. Why? Because for an entire year, that skin's gonna be frozen. So say you have some wrinkles that are showing, and then all of a sudden your muscles can't move, and all of a sudden those wrinkles can't form. Maybe you can see a little bit of them the first couple of months, but before you know it, that those skin cells are turning over. That skin has been frozen. And after a year, your Botox is gonna wear off and it's gonna look like mine. You know, you can't really see my wrinkles. You can see a little movement when I start to move, but I don't have wrinkles because my forehead's always frozen. So, my point is the more consistent you are up front, the less maintenance you're gonna need long term. Do your Botox every three months when you start, correct all that damage. And then moving forward, maybe you can get away with doing it every four months because that skin is healed and you're not gonna have those wrinkles anymore. So that would be it if I had to choose four. I hope that's not too many.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that that's great. And that you gave us an idea of how often somebody might need to do it, or you know, the that consistency is important, but it's okay in some cases to do it when you can. Um, I had another question.
Why Packages Beat One-Offs
SPEAKER_01It's really rare we're doing a one-off. So packages um usually come in three. So we're always recommending a package of three. So that package of three in a perfect world is gonna be done in the same year and sometimes, you know, a little closer, maybe over the course of three months, maybe over the course of nine months. But usually that upfront is the most important. We might recommend treatments, you know, months one through four. Then you can start your maintenance and be coming in every three or four months. But again, it depends. You know, your 25-year-old that's coming in that's like, I want to, you know, get ahead of the game and prevent aging. I'm like, great, let's do a nice light microneedle every three or four months and get her on some really good skincare. But your 45-year-old client who's never done anything is gonna come in and we're gonna say, look, you need three smooth glows, which is IPL microneedle combo, and we're gonna need you to come in January, February, March, April to get to a really beautiful place. And then we're gonna protect your investment by you coming in once a quarter. Or you don't miss and you come in a year later, and then we have to deal with it, you know?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's it's kind of like anything where you want results. You have there has to be some consistency. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01So we really preach programs and you know, a lot of the skin care is included, and it's just so significant when you're following a program rather than calling and being like, hey, I saw this on the internet, I want to come try it. It's like doesn't really work that way, you know. You can try it, but the results you're seeing on our website and on our Instagram are results from treatment plans.
Choosing Treatments Through Consultation
SPEAKER_02So it how do you help clients then choose between, like, let's say they can only do one service or maybe they're afraid to try multiple simultaneously or in the in the same time span because they've never done it before? How do you help them choose between the lasers or the microneedling or other options?
SPEAKER_01You know, it's really important for the client that comes in to have a full consultation and to trust the expert. I've been doing this long enough that I look at somebody and when I'm dismissed in my treatment plan, it often ends up with months going by and that client needing the same treatment plan that was recommended months before. So when a client thinks that they know what they need, it's very interesting to me because they don't. They often just don't know what they need. So um I build treatment plans. I we have a few built-out treatment plans based off of the equipment that we have that are fairly universal, but everything is customized, obviously, to each client. But there's a lot of things that it's like, oh, this client needs this package. So we kind of start there. Um, but you know, if somebody wants a one-off and somebody wants to go just get one treatment somewhere, they can do that. It's just, you're just not gonna get the experience and the um the results that you can, you know, our results aren't fake. Like we have mind-blowing results on our website. And every day I have a mind-blowing result, but also every day I have a client who doesn't want to invest in the treatment plan and a client who wants to question the things that we are recommending. And then it's like, okay, well, you could do this, you could do this, but it's just, you know, it ends up just causing more problems.
SPEAKER_02Sure, sure. And then um, any story you want to share of a client where they listened to you, they followed through with the plan, and um, they just had wonderful results in like a short time period. I'm sure you have many, but you know, anybody that
When Wellness Blocks Skin Results
SPEAKER_02stands out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, I'm an injector and I also preach wellness to such a high level. Um, we offer a scan, a wellness scan. It's an epigenetic wellness scan that clients come in, I pluck a few of their hairs out, we do a um hair analysis on them, and it comes back and shows outside environmental factors that you wouldn't see in like a regular blood test. Um, for example, heavy metals. So we had a client come in recently and I just looked at her and she looked different. Like she looked compromised. Her lips were chapped and her hair was falling out. I couldn't tell the hair was falling out. She shared that with me. And fast forward, we did a scan on her and she had severe heavy metal toxicity. And sorry, it wasn't heavy metals, it was radiation. Um I have other stories of heavy metals, but this was radiation. And long story short, this client had moved next to an area in Broomfield, Colorado that is publicly known to be exposed to severe radiation secondary to a plutonium plant that used to be up there. The plutonium plant was torn down and they turned it into hiking trails. So, specifically to kind of uh connecting that wellness piece to anti-aging and inflammation, we were able to pinpoint where this radiation exposure was coming from. And she was able to just change a few things in her everyday lifestyle to reduce that inflammation in her system without us even putting her on a severe treatment plan. So she's somebody who invests in a lot of time and money in her skin and does a lot of treatments. And I could just see the treatments failing when she came in and her body was compromised by something like that. So that was a really cool, interesting situation. Um, another thing that I
Botox, Filler Structure, And SkinVive
SPEAKER_01Botox is another one. Like there's just every day I inject somebody with Botox and they come in and they look like a different person in two weeks. Um, and then Skin Beep. Skinbeep is, again, kind of revolutionary in the aesthetics industry. It is the fastest growing injectable in Asia and it is an Allergan product. I team very strongly with Allergan. We use a lot of Botox, a lot of Juvederm, and Allergan is the largest um injection injection company in the world. They make up a significant piece of the aesthetics industry. And SkinVee is a new product that we are using so much of. It gives instant, instant results. It's a skin hydrator that is injected into the skin. And it's for that client that probably needs a facelift, but is not going to get a facelift and has a lot of lines, saggy skin. We can create support with dermal filler where we go in on the bone and we create, you know, shape. This is a artificially sculpted jaw and cheek here. Why? Because I have I come from a family where our face just starts to fall. Um, my mom has a lot of extra skin on her neck, and it's just something that I did for myself because I was noticing those concerns. I'm not super speckly. Um, I do have some pigment. I used to think I had a lot of freckles until I did a few IPLs, lifted that pigment. And now I see clients who actually have a lot of speckles. So um dermal filler you put down on the bone and that creates structure. Again, that is instant and very dramatic, but skin vee is something that you can go and kind of place in areas that end up really, really creased and a lot of lines, and often it's from expression and you know, just muscles and moving your face a lot. So that is something that is instant and dramatic, and it's something that can kind of mimic the look of a facelift. We always talk about how we cannot achieve the two-finger facelift, only a facelift can achieve that. And I've been able to achieve instant results in this area here that everybody struggles with. With SkinVee, that is a lot easier price point than dermal filler. And it's just a beautiful, beautiful product that I've added to my shop over the last. I mean, I think we've been using it only for a few months now, and all of my clients are very impressed, and so am
